which battle. There's one battle in particular that is mentioned throughout this entire surah
the Battle of butter, right the Battle of button so Allah subhanho wa Taala in the surah. He goes through a number of different issues and incidents or happenings that took place during the time of the Prophet sallallahu wasallam and in particular, the Battle of butter. Many in Allah subhanho wa Taala here in this verse, He obviously talks about the unfurl the spoils of war. Yes, I do. And I can infer that they asked you the question, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam about the spoils of war.
The decision concerning the bounties is for Allah subhana wa to Allah and the messenger. So fear Allah amend that which is between you and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you should be believers. Now what happened at the beginning of the battle of bud that was, I mean, were there any other battles that took place before this? No, there wasn't right. So this was the first battle that took place in the history of the home of Muhammad Sallallahu arada usnm. subhanho wa Taala Allah and His Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and we know that the bounty or sorry the booty, I should say, the spoils of war, were divided not only among a loss of candidates and in the messenger sallallahu wasallam. It was taken by the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and there were companions that were protecting him. And there were from amongst the Muslim men as well, those that wanted to share in the spoils of war, but Allah subhanho wa Taala wanted the companions to fully submit, right for Tacoma how awesome it is to be Nico, Fear Allah subhanho wa Taala and rectify the issue between your own selves between yourselves the companions and Sahaba of

Now we're going to go through the Battle of butter very briefly in sha Allah to Allah, but Allah subhanho wa Taala offended, sorry, he ended up dividing the spoils of war, not only collected and kept with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam but he actually
Set one fifth to be kept with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, as we'll see shortly, and four fifths were divided and given up to those that took part in the actual Battle of Baba. And prior to this, prior to the, to the Battle of bundles we said there were no other battles that took place. But this was the first time in the history of any of the prophets and messengers of Allah subhanho wa Taala that there was a battle that took place and Allah subhanho wa Taala told the the prophet or messenger to collect these spoils of war that they are to be kept for the home of Muhammad Sallallahu Ida usnm. Right prior to that it was not done no prophet or messenger had
collected the spoils of war and and then divided it amongst the companions.

What is Carrie? So Allah Subhana Allah Tana here he mentions the believers, those who are honestly truthful. Now remember, we said the word from amongst the companion, some that were defending the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and some that were questioning and saying, Hey, wait a second, we deserve we're entitled to some of this as well. And so Allah subhanho wa Taala hamdulillah rectify the issue. And he points out the believers Alevtina, those that remember Allah subhanho wa Taala What do you let kulu that their heart becomes, you know, so soft with the remembrance of Allah subhanho wa Taala that they're scared to do anything that goes against the will and Command of Allah
subhanho wa Taala to the extent that when they hear right when they hear the recitation of the Quran, they know that this is the command of Allah Subhana Allah to Allah, their hearts become soften, they become emotional, or they become very passionate with regards to the deen of Allah subhanho wa Taala in verses five to eight, Allah subhanho wa Taala goes on.
And he mentions here how the caravan that went out with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was done deliberately, right, it was deliberately done. Now the companions are the Aloha Island, they had no idea that a battle was going to take place. Right? They had no idea about what was going to take place. They went out there was a caravan and they went to Baba, Has anyone been to the actual site of the Battle of brother?
No one. Okay, it's not far outside of Medina, if you go outside of Medina, about an hour's drive a little bit over an hour, you reach this site of the Battle of button. And it's a really beautiful place to kind of know because, but that itself is made up of, you know, a few mountains, but there's one mountain in particular that's just sent, and it's just as high as the other mountains that are there, but it's just sent and it looks really, really beautiful. And then you have the Shahadat but there are those that are buried there in that area.
But what was interesting that happened during the time of the Battle of butter was that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and the companions of the Allahu anhu. They weren't expecting a caravan.
The story when they went out with the caravan, they weren't expecting a battle to actually take place. And so Allah Subhana Allah sent them out, they went out with this caravan, they accompany the caravan. And when they were resting in butter, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he noticed on the ground, some deep seeds, you know, the deep pits, so he saw them on the ground. And he recognized that these date pits were not from the dates that are commonly grown in the province of Medina. They came from somewhere else. The area where there were from, from mcca from that area from that region. They were dates that had not been produced or grown in Medina. So the Prophet
sallallahu wasallam knew that there were from amongst those thing in the area or the region of Baba, not only muslimeen that were staying there, there was someone else, right? And so they knew from that the machine we're staying in the same area. So Allah subhanho wa Taala actually made that incident happen. So that those that left with the profits on a longer it was ended up ended up having to fight the battle and be there to defend the Muslims, whether they liked it or not. Right, it was just that was the way it was. So then in verse number 12, Allah Subhana Allah to Allah.
He mentioned that he sends rain, he sent rain that calmed the hearts of the companions that have been

That was what he used to do in order to be happy and content with the blessing of Allah subhanho wa Taala of rain and Allah Subhana Allah mentions here that he removes the ridges of shape on the whether it be ill feelings in their hearts or the dust from the travel or the annoyances from being out. Allah subhanho wa Taala removes it as he mentions in this verse.
And he also then says that he sent angels to fight with the Muslim men so Allah subhana wa tada sent angels that fought alongside the Muslims in verse 17 and 18 Allah subhanho wa Taala goes on.
And he mentions how Allah subhanho wa Taala took action during the Battle of Baba, when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam through sent right when he threw sand. This was done as as we see here in the verse 1718 let me just read the actual part. While now I may even I may tell Anakin Rama Rama so the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to extend and throw it in the face of the mushrikeen but Allah subhanho wa Taala says one out I made it even I hate it that it's not you who throws this end when you threw this end? he took on and know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart, and that to him, you will be gathered. That was a conduit. taala intervenes between one of us meaning ourselves and our heart. Now, when you look at yourself and you analyze you going through a difficult moment in life,
you might find that we use the typical example of a relative being in the hospital, and you feel very saddened by it. But you turn to Allah subhanho wa Taala your emotions don't take over and allow you to do things irrationally. Rather, you turn you turn to Allah subhanho wa Taala. So a lot comes between you and your heart, your heart is telling you to do one thing, your heart is telling you to make a decision. And sometimes it's even with regards to marriage, right? Whatever the case is, you're looking at marrying someone and you think you know, how my heart is telling me Let's do this. Let's do it. It's the right person. Don't worry, just get married, everything's gonna be okay. But
for some reason, Allah subhana wa, tada, places that you that you use a little bit of wisdom, and you push those feelings of your heart distant, and you start to think correctly. Wait a second, is this person good for my Deen? Is this person right for me? Is this person going to be someone who's going to bring my heart in line with what Allah Subhana Allah wants or not. And so a lot comes between you and the feelings of your heart. And you then can make the right decision, even though it hurts your heart, even though you feel that pain inside of you, that you might not want to do this. And the companions on the alohar. I know, they weren't ready to go and fight this was some of them
work. Don't get me wrong, the majority of them work, but some were still questioning it. Wait a second. How are we going to do this? Are we capable capable of doing this? This is the first time in the history that they're believing and following the messenger. So the longer it was send them that now they're being asked to go and to stand in this battle and fight against who and this is this is the showerhead. This is the most important part. Who are they fighting in the Battle of butter. Some of them are fighting their own fathers. Some of them are fighting their brothers, their cousins, their uncles, they're fighting their own relatives. Imagine put yourself on that battlefield right
now. You're standing in front of your relative, your father, your brother, your son, possibly your uncle, your cousin standing in front of them with your sword in your hand and their sword in their hand and you're saying a shadow Allah number, and you're going ahead. And this is not an easy case to be placed into yet the Sahaba of the Allahu anhu they didn't have a choice. This is what it meant for them.
At that point in time, and they push themselves through it, and they stood face to face with their own family members, their own relatives from the machine that were making fun of them, yet they, you know, even though they were standing in the face of their relatives, their relatives are ready to kill them as well. They were ready to take them on the battlefield. And so all of us handle it and it shows us here
that what's in your heart might hurt you. But Allah some handle attacking between those personal feelings and what was needed to be done.
So Allah subhanaw taala highlights that in verse 24 and verses 31 to 33 Allah subhanho wa Taala goes on
to mention the Quraysh and how the Quraysh claim that they can produce the Quran or something similar to the Quran what you got to deliver it him to an app on buddy Sameer and ellonija will upon Nam Lucha in her the

that he doesn't destroy them. Because they go on to say, if you clean that this is divine, then bring a punishment upon us, destroy us bring our destruction. You have a loss of Hamlet Allah says he refuses to bring them their destruction, simply because the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was amongst them. And because they were still asking Allah subhanho wa Taala for forgiveness. Now we mentioned the mushrikeen right, how they commit shirk. But at times of difficulty they would turn to Allah subhanho wa Taala. We spoke about that yesterday or the day before, right? So there were still those that would turn to Allah but still had other gods and this was a very early stage for the time
for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in his teachings with regards to Islam towards the machete Cain? Yes, they had left Mecca and gone to Medina, but it's still very early. Ask yourself How long have you been Muslim? How long have you been submitting to the to the will of Allah Subhana Allah to Allah, and the prophet SAW longer. I think he was selling them at this point in time he received the revelation, not more than what 15 years, right? 15 years, less than 15 years, the machete keen were openly being asked to come towards the call of a loss of animal attack. Some sci fi thing that happened and you know, so Pamela, it's all like made up and it sounds like perfect. Yeah, it sounds perfect. But you have to look into the detail and understand that these
were real human beings as well. They also had feelings they also went through difficulties and Allah subhana wa tada highlights them for us here in the sutras.
In verse 41, Allah subhanho wa Taala goes on.
And he mentions dividing the spoils of war right dividing them and will recite the verse very quickly in a long time. He says, Why aren't m and
n any law who said it was only one easy upon ba Well, he wouldn't mess up and he would be nice Sebby in common.

We won't go into detail of who gets from amongst Okay, sorry, won't go into detail as to who gets from the one fifth because of loss of Hamilton in his messenger get and from that one fifth goes to those that are poor, those that are need those that you know are struggling those that maybe are widows
And need some assistance and there's a lot of different categories that we break it up into right? Those that come to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and asked, but four fifths goes to
who does it go to?
Right those that fall alongside the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, right those that took part in the battle. And there's also mentioned in the in the history that Allah subhanho wa Tana,
or sorry that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam separated from the times where they were being attacked and the times where they actually went out to meet at an expedition. So where it was a set battle where they actually went out to meet the two the two sides, there was three fifths divided, uh, sorry, four fifths. I believe it was four fifths I can't remember exactly now, but also at the time where it was just defense than it was three fifths that were divided in the last panel atana knows best. Then in verses 42 onwards, so 42 onwards almost to right till the end of the surah Allah subhanho wa Taala.
He gives us details of the Battle of butter, so he mentions how the companions of the Allah and whom were very small in number, he also mentions how they were not prepared, as we discussed earlier, they were not prepared. Not only were they not prepared, as in they went out with a caravan. They weren't prepared to also face on the battlefield, their own relatives, right. So they hadn't really prepared for anything during this time. Yet Allah subhanho wa Taala called for this, and so they answered the call of a loss of Hannibal, which I had, they were surprised as well the Muslims and they weren't ready. As we mentioned, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam saw those date pits,
those seeds of the date sitting on the ground in the sand, and he knew that there was the mushrikeen present around them in the camps. And so Allah subhanho wa Taala surprised them listening to you, they weren't ready they went out there. And so kinda out of nowhere, the caravan and everything, you know, fell into place.
In verse 48, Allah subhanho wa Taala Hannah, he mentions how shavon made the battle seem extremely easy. And disassociated from you. I leave all of you, you go and do whatever you want to do. I'm out of here. Indeed, I see what you do not see. What did he see? He saw the helpers of Allah Subhana. Allah the angels are present there there. Right? Indeed, I see what you do not see. Indeed I fear a lot. And a lot is severe in his penalty severe in his
can't really say punishment because I called it could also comprise punishment, but it probably is like the outcome. So the the penalty is is the outcome of someone who does bad, right, you're playing hockey, you do something bad you get a penalty, that's your reward for doing that. Right. It's called the penalty. So Allah subhana wa Jalla here says that shavon shows us how he himself is scared of Allah subhanho wa Taala. So we should try and under
Standard, if shavon is fearful of the punishment of the loss of panaway data, and he gets scared when he sees something is wrong, he runs away from it. What about us? What about our own cells? Are we fearful of the punishment of Allah subhanho wa Taala, that when we see something that's harmful for us, we run away from it. Because the shape on is doing that here. And he's telling us that he is doing it. And the reason why he's doing it is because he's scared of Allah subhanho wa Taala and his punishment. So we need to also try and understand that
in verse number 61
I really have to pay attention to time today because we're going into sort October as well. So in verse number 61, Allah subhana wa tada here, he shows us the command from Allah to facilitate peace if the enemy seeks it. So this is in the middle of a battle. This is the battlefield, the other lust palitana tells the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. If the mushrikeen the enemies seek to settle with peace, then stop
And grant them peace,
enforced peace, right? And that's important for us to try and understand especially with what's going on today in different parts of the world. So the command from Allah subhanho wa Taala is there to facilitate peace when it is called for. In verse number 70, Allah subhanho wa Taala mentions the pagan prisoners now all of these things are tying in with the Battle of button right? We're just going through it as we mentioned from verse number 42 onwards, we're discussing bugout and different things that happened in Baba and after that as well. And after the Battle of Allah subhanho wa Taala he made the prisoners
I think I made a mistake and something I mentioned earlier, when I mentioned that the the spoils of war were taken, right, the spoils of war were taken, but this is also the first time where a loss of haddaway Tana
makes the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam take the prisoners of war, right the prisoners of war this is this is the first time that it is that it is happening.
So the pagan prisoners, those that were prisoners from amongst the, those that were captured after the Battle of butter, Allah subhanho wa Taala highlights in this verse in verse number 70, that they were promised a better life if they became righteous. So should they become righteous, they were promised a better life. And we know that from amongst those that were captured, they went on to helping the Muslim mean, those that wanted to do goodness and righteousness, even if they remained upon their belief, but they submitted to living and following the rules that were set in place by the Muslim mean of Medina. If they agreed to that, then the prophet SAW longer and he was seldom
actually made some of them you know, teachers to this habit of the alohar at home, they taught them to read to write they became their educators in certain things that they were good at. Right? So they allowed them to be
to have a better lifestyle as a last panel with Anna mentions, even though they were amongst there. There are they remained among or upon their belief.

can be and those who disbelieved are allies of one another. Now we know that the mushrikeen the non Muslims are allies to one another, we talk about it all the time. Right uncle comes home from work sits there in front of the TV and says, Bobo these guys, they're only after us they're out to get the Muslims, right. That's what happens all the time. And so so Pamela, not all the time, but in most cases, I know the youngsters are laughing and laughing and uncle's are like, Wait a second, I don't say that. Right. So we noticed that the most the emotionally keen are out to get the Muslims their allies to one another against the Muslims. Why? Because we don't keep as our allies as people
who are close to us. We discussed this in the past few, you know, helpers that we had, that we don't keep as allies, those that are mostly keen those that disobey Allah subhanho wa Taala they're not our close acquaintances.
But Allah subhanho wa Taala here he points out he says, If you do not do so, if you don't do what if you do not do so there will be fitna on earth and great corruption. If you don't do what, what is Allah subhana wa tada here talking
He says that the mushrikeen are allies to one another. If you don't do so, there will be corruption and fitna on Earth, if you don't do what
if you don't make yourselves allies, amongst yourselves amongst the believers, and that's really important for us to try and understand. Because somehow the world as we look at it today, you open the TV, and you see what ISIS and they claim to be Muslim. I'm not saying be allies of ISIS, please, I'm recording this for my own benefit as well, in case anyone tries to twist my words, right. I'm not saying to become allies of ISIS, what I'm saying is ISIS and and people who go and fight and use the banner of Islam, they only have the opportunity to do that, because we amongst ourselves as an Ummah, have become divided. We've become divided. And so when we're divided, we say, Oh, you know,
this person and that person, that this person and that person and we, we point fingers at each other, but some kind of law, we do that on a smaller scale. And then what happens our children when they grow up, they don't know who to follow. So they lose leadership. And they go, and they follow whoever is using the banner of a snap, even though they're falsely using that banner. And we've stated that I think in the very first night, that they're falsely using the banner of Islam. And that is not being used in the right and correct methods. And a loss of handling data tells us if you do not unite yourselves, there will be fitna and corruption on earth. And we're seeing the fitna,
we're seeing the corruption, it's happening. And so even more, so we must try to unite our hearts in our communities. We unite from community to community, we unite imams should unite and Alhamdulillah I see this is happening in Toronto and still needs to happen in many other Canadian cities. Right? I come from Montreal, and I talk about it all the time. The majority of the Imams are not united. Right, the other day and hamdulillah I saw, you know, one of the emails from Ottawa, he sent me this letter, and it was signed by I believe all of the Imams who were representative of each of the masajid of Ottawa, that they agreed they're going to start Ramadan and tarawih on the same night.
Alhamdulillah. That's good. That's good, right? Regardless of how they came to this agreement, right? We put it in their hands, we trust them as Imams, they're going to do the right thing. We will follow them. They're the Imams, they're doing the right thing, all of them are coming together. Alhamdulillah as long as they're not making a decision that goes against Islam, then there's no issue there. There's nothing wrong with it. And so the United we'd love to see if every other city in Canada is united that way as well. And across the globe, in terms of our Muslim communities. Then we move on
to the next quarter. The next quarter is similar to tober. Right sort of to tober and Allah subhanho wa Taala here in the beginning of surah, two Toba, what do you notice is missing from the top of your colon or the top page? Bismillah Ar Rahman AR Rahim right? It's missing. Why is it missing? It's not a table.
