The time of the prophet, peace be upon

him, 2 people saw the actual call to

prayer in their dreams. 1 of them was

Omar. May Allah be pleased with him. And

he actually told the prophet what he saw.

But what's interesting is that Omar never made

the call to prayer because he didn't have

a good voice. We see here the administrative

genius of the prophet, peace be upon him,

that you put the right person in the

right

place for the right job. This continues throughout

our tradition.

The great imam

even though he was an accomplished scholar when

it came to certain hadith, he would consult

to imam Ahmed because imam Ahmed knew more

than him in the subject.

Why am I saying this? Because at this

juncture, complex juncture, what makes it critical and

complex is that there's no more dilemma.

The problem is the occupation, and we see

former allies now,

who we thought were allies with quotation marks,

engaging

in actions and behaviors, dismissing

this genocide,

dismissing

the destruction

of gods in society and gods in life,

children, old people, you name it, innocent civilians

being massacred,

and they're silent.

And so what's gonna happen is we're gonna

pull away from those allies. And, oh, for

me personally, that is a breach that can

never be healed.

It's done. It's broken. The curtain is torn

as they say.

So what they're going to do is they're

going to pivot and try to find people

in the community

who don't know or don't

know the most

and employ them to talk about issues for

which they are ill informed of or not

completely informed of. And they're gonna bypass the

the experts is what I'm saying.

They're gonna bypass the ones who could make

the Adnan better than Omar.

And that shows you that they're not really

your allies. So the first thing that we

wanna think about in this moment is when

we are asked by people who act like

they are friends to talk about things we

don't know

or that we know others know more than

us,

we defer.

And that's the second strategy. Not only do

we defer,

we recommend.

You know what? Years ago, I was asked

to talk about what is life like for

a black American Muslim.

How on earth am I going to speak

to that issue? But I know who can,

Sheikha Ayesha Prime,

Sheikh Hared Ola Evans, Imam Mark Manley. There's

a host of people that can talk about

that. Not me.

So not only do I say I can't,

but also here's who can, and that will

tell you if they're really your allies because

they're going to take your recommendations

as seriously as they would have

taken your participation. So when people ask you

to talk about Islamophobia

or Palestine,

if you don't know about those things or

you know people who know more than you,

refer them to those people.
