I'm not discouraged because I saw a poll
recently that said that almost 99% of
American senators have not called for a ceasefire.
But almost 70% of Americans, the people,
do want a ceasefire.
That's from both political parties.
That's from almost every racial group, ethnic group,
nationality, faith, religion.
So what we see around the world, not
just in the United States, is an enormous
divide between the masses of people and the
leaders that have either been elected or appointed.
And there is an extreme disappointment, not just
for me, they expected somebody to show up.
They thought some government, some country, some organization,
some international body, a neighbor.
They thought someone would intervene.
I have seen fathers and mothers with pieces
of their children crying to the camera saying,
naming by name, leaders saying, where are you?
How could you leave me here?
I can't imagine the despair of enduring so
much violence every day and starting to wonder
is it true that no one is going
to show up?
And I think leaders all around the world
should be ashamed.
I am ashamed for them.
