Ramadan 2016: Quranic gem from Surah Yunus
June 15, 2016
alameen wa salatu salam ala rasulillah carrying on early he will be here as a marine. So we're going to break from the politics of the world for a moment and isolate ourselves in gender. And think about paradise and think about what it means to be in the companionship of the Prophet sallallahu wasallam and in the companionship of the most righteous people to ever walk the face of the earth, and to constantly eat and drink from the provision of Allah subhana wa tada in general, and to feel that mercy pouring upon you. When we exited out of surah Toba, we saw a comparison between two groups of people, one group of people that failed to understand the true purpose of life. And
instead, they chose to stay back. They chose to abandon the command of god they chose to remain in their comfort. And they thought that goodness comes from comfort in this life. In surah, Yunus Allah subhana wa tada mentions in melodien, Allah Yong Joon Alico, Anna Waldo will hayati, dunya, wahconah and nuvia. Allah subhanaw taala mentions people who don't look forward to their meeting with a loss of habitat or they're not looking forward to a hereafter. They don't really think about the hereafter. They are very much so pleased with everything that comes to them in this world. And they think that they found their satisfaction in that. And Allah subhanaw taala, after mentioning a group
of people that really find their satisfaction here and think that true happiness comes in this life. Allah gives us a preview of gender. In this life, not only do you want to succeed, not only do you want to be comfortable, but you also want to feel a sense of accomplishments, you also want to feel successful. Success is not just in reaping the fruits of success successes in the pursuit as well. Success is in finding worth in yourself. Success is in finding purpose successes is in being able to look at how you got there and saying hamdulillah I made it. And a lot of people think that if they're able to achieve certain milestones in their life, then they're going to be happy. And their
goals are very much so isolated and limited to this world. So what Allah subhanaw taala mentions a group of people that are pleased with their station here, and that are not looking forward to the hereafter that don't want to meet a loss of hundreds that wants to pretend that a hereafter doesn't exist. alized then gives us the snippets that those who believe and those who seek that pleasure from Allah subhanho wa Taala Yeah, the him Robbo homie Imani him, Allah guides them by their faith, touch a demon tacky he will learn how to feed Jannat in him and they're sitting in Paradise and they have the rivers flowing from beneath their feet down while home fee House of Chanukah, la Hama what
to hear here to home fee her salam wa ala home and Al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil alameen Allah subhana wa tada mentions a person who is in Paradise and being told and reminded of the deeds that got them there. You're in paradise because you were looking forward to paradise. And not only that, but Allah subhanho wa Taala reminds you of the deeds that gotten there. And as you are there, you're glorifying the loss of hundreds out of declaring the perfection of your Lord thanking Allah subhana wa tada for having puts you there. As you meet people that you used to meet in this world, then the same way that in this dunya you used to always give off saddam you always give off peace to here to
whom he has Salaam in Geneva everyone is saying Salaam to one another everyone is spreading peace to one another. Even though in general there is nothing but Salaam in the first place. There's nothing but said I'm in the first place in this world. When you say Salaam to somebody, then you're giving that person an oath you're giving that person a promise that nothing will come your way from me except for peace. In general, even if you wanted to harm someone and you would not want to harm someone because the ill feelings are removed from people's hearts, then you would not be able to so what's the point of saying set up in general. This is the custom of the people of righteousness that
they give off salah and Pamela, an Imam and Porter to be Rahim Allah says something really, really powerful here. He says people who pursue the lowly goals of this world, by necessity, will resort to low methods will undercut one another will undermine one another in the competition for this world will harm one another in order to achieve those goals because at the end of the day, if you're pursuing something that is low in dunya, which comes from the need, which is the lower goal, then you will become low as as well. You will resort
To a low point of ethics and the way that you deal with people and in the way that you treat people, but when you're pursuing a Salaam Allah anta Salah woman kassala you're pursuing Allah subhana wa tada the source of peace, you're pursuing a place of peace. Your goal is to attain everlasting peace, then you will not give off except for peace. You accustom yourself to salah and when you're in Jannah everyone says Salaam, in fact the melodica the angels are entering upon you from every single direction and what are they saying to you Salaam, alaikum, Bhima sabato, peace, peace beyond to you by the patients that used to show what our hero did well, and Al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil
alameen. And when they and as their attorney attaining the blessings of Allah subhana wa tada in Paradise, what are they saying? They're saying Al Hamdulillah. You know, in this world, when you don't say colossal tanowitz Allah for your food or for your drink and for your provisions. There's punishment in that or there's, there's a lack of Baraka, there's a lack of blessings. Whenever you eat your food, whenever you drink your food, it's mandatory for you to say Alhamdulillah on the Day of Judgment, or rather, when you're in Paradise, is anyone going to come? You know, come to you while you're in Paradise and slap your hand and say eat with your right hand? And you forgot to say
Bismillah and when you finish make sure you say and hamdulillah right? Is it a Sunday school type thing? Or is it Are you are you not? Are you saying and hamdulillah? Because you're afraid of being punished by Allah subhanho wa Taala Are you afraid that you're not fulfilling the code of ethics? Or the etiquette of the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam? Or is this your nature? Have you accustomed yourself to thanking Allah subhanaw taala for the good that he's given you in your life? So in Jannah Salaam comes natural Alhamdulillah comes natural thanking Allah for the blessings come natural you know, somehow Allah Salah prayer in Jenna, you don't that you know, and it's it
sounds weird to say this because I don't want to confuse the kids, including my own kids. When I say you don't have to pray agenda. All right, that can be very problematic. Technically speaking, you don't have to do anything in gender right? There, there aren't five kilowatts in gender, there aren't 50 kilowatts in gender, in gender, it's nonstop pleasure. But at the same time Subhanallah you are inclined to praise Allah subhanaw taala and to glorify Allah subhanaw taala. And to thank Allah subhanho wa Taala.
And that's something that's very, very, very powerful, because that says something about the goals that you really had in life, the pursuit of your heart, and the type of orientation and inclination you have, that you are inclined to spread peace to people, you are inclined to thank Allah subhana wa tada for his blessings, you are constantly in a place of thinking and glorifying your Creator, even when you don't have to,
even when you don't have to, because this is who you are, and you recognize your place with Allah subhanaw taala. So again, the beautiful combination, what we see here is Allah subhanaw taala mentioning a people whose goals are very limited in this whose goals are limited to this world, whose goals are, you know, are simply to see goodness and success in this world. And they will be pleased with that if they're if they're if they get what they want in this world, they're pleased with that. And they will be willing to undercut and undermine one another in the pursuit of this world. All they want is to pursue happiness in this world. And the fact of the matter is that no one
will ever find true, unconditional, and you know, you know, uninterrupted happiness in this world. The believers, on the other hand, are seeking a higher goal. And they know that that goal exists. And they are inclined to constantly be in a state of giving off Salaam they're not trying to harm people in the pursuit of that goal. Because a noble goal requires a noble character and a noble etiquettes. And they are always in a state of gratitude to Allah subhanho wa Taala and just think about it as you're in paradise upon Allah, and the food and the drink is coming to you and so on so forth, and all you're doing is glorifying Allah subhanaw taala all you're doing is thanking Him, the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. If he saw something that amazed him, he automatically said Subhana Allah, and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to praise Allah subhanho wa Taala all night long, and he used to pray until his feet would swell up. Did the prophets lie Selim?
Okay, I think they're shouting and I'm realizing that's how the party agenda will sound.
But but a very beautiful question here. Did the Prophet slicin um, have to pray all night? Did he have to stand up and pray and thank Allah subhanaw taala all night, would Allah subhanaw taala had decreased his McCombe his station, had he not stood up and prayed all night until his feet swelled. If the Prophet slicin them would have sat down an hour earlier, or before his feet got to that point or before he got
To the point of fatigue with a loss of Hannah hoods I have taken away his position from Jonathan for those with a lot what Allah subhanaw taala have lowered him, would Allah have punished him in any way? No. But what did the Prophet slicin I'm saying flr akuna I've done Sakura, should I not be a grateful servant? It's not because I have to thank a lot here. It's because I want to thank a lot here because I am truly indebted to a lot. I am truly grateful to him for seeing me through this. So just like the profit slice them didn't have to none of us have that station none of us have been guaranteed with the profit slice on has been guaranteed. When we are in Paradise, we will be
thanking and praising Allah, not because we have to, but because that's how we're inclined. And that's how we're oriented at that point. As believers We ask Allah subhanaw taala to place in our hearts immense gratitude that drives us to always seek His pleasure and to guide us in the pursuit of his pleasure to a place where his servants are always living the manifestation of his pleasure along I mean, just talking about Plato said I want to reconcile accounts.
