Indeed.
All praise belongs to Allah the most high.
We thank him and we seek his aid
and we seek his forgiveness.
We seek refuge with him from the evil
of ourselves
and
from the evil of our bad actions.
Whoever Allah guides then there's no one who
can mislead him and whoever Allah causes to
go astray then there's no one to guide
him.
And I bear witness that there is no
deity except Allah who is unique and without
partners,
and I bear witness that Mohammed is his
worshiper and messenger and may the peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him and his
family and his companions and those who follow
them with good intentions
until the day of judgment.
All you who believe fear Allah as he
should be feared and don't die
except as Muslims. Again, all you who believe
fear Allah as he should be feared
and don't die except as Muslims.
And all mankind,
be careful of of your duty to Yorab
who created you from a single soul and
from it created its maiden from the 2
of them, he spread forth many men and
women.
And be careful of your duty to Allah
whom you demand your mutual rights
and be careful of your duty to the
wounds that bore you. Indeed, Allah is our
Ruqib over you.
Oh, you who believe fear Allah and always
speak the truth. He will cause your deeds
to be beneficial
and he will forgive for you your sins.
And whoever obeys Allah and his messenger, then
he has truly achieved a tremendous accomplishment.
Indeed, the best speech is the book of
Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance
of Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam in the
most evil of all affairs of newly independent
matters which has no precedence in Islam. And
indeed, all innovations are astray,
and each astray is in the * fire.
Oh Allah, save us from it. Oh Allah,
accept
Dua.
The believers
have indeed attained
true success.
Those who in their prayers humble themselves,
who avoid whatever is vain and frivolous,
and who observe the Zukkah,
who strictly guard their private parts and save
for their wives
or those whom the right hand possess
for for for with regard to that to
them, they are free of blame.
And as for those who seek beyond that,
they are transgressors.
Who are the true who are the true
to their trust and their covenants
and who guard their prayers.
Such are the inheritors
that shall inherit
paradise,
and in it, they shall abide
forever.
Was Allah say who was
The believers
have truly attained success and when we look
at success and we make the dua, we
want the success in this life and the
success in the hereafter.
And so what does success in this life
look like? What does success in the hereafter
look like? And so and then we get
the answers in the Quran.
We get the answers in the Quran and,
you know, as Allah says that the believers
are truly
successful and and we have to
basically
strive for that.
You know, because we're all Muslim.
We all Muslim and always remember the story
sheikh Arun used to tell us about
person got stuck up on Hajj.
You know, he's walking down the street. He
had a guy came at him with a
whole rusty shotgun.
And he on Hajj, and he got stuck
up in
and he said, man, we on Hajj.
We Muslim. And then the guy said,
man, there's 2 types of Muslims.
There's good Muslims, and there's bad Muslims.
You you're a good Muslim.
I'm me? I'm a bad Muslim. Give me
your money.
You know? And so
you can have gradiations of Islam. So there
can be many types of Muslims,
but only one type of believer.
And the Lord gave us the job description
of what the believer is about.
You know, conscious of this a lot.
Refrain from
basically engaging in illegal sexual *,
charitable.
And and also not just
making prayer as the prophet talked about, you
know, sometime people can make prayer,
just like chickens,
you know, eating.
Just just going through it like a ritual.
Whereas you have people who are in Hindus
and Buddhist, they meditate for hours,
and they're reflecting.
You know? But we go through our prayer
just to get it over with.
And so and we have to look at
our prayer as a form of reflection.
What they say, some of the philosophers say,
prayer
is like talking to the creator and meditation
is listening for an answer.
You know, and so we have to look
at the prayer as a means that we
are communicating with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. We
have to look at it from that perspective
and that's how you start to go from
being a Muslim to being a Muqman.
Like the stick up man say, hey, I'm
Muslim. I mean, he gone he gone get
graded on the day of judgment.
You know, it's just like a student, a
student who's sitting back in the back of
the class playing with their phone all year
round, and then the person who's diligently studying,
they're sitting in the same class, but they're
not gonna get the same grade.
So we can be sitting on the same
planet.
And then in the next phase of life,
we won't get the same
reward.
If it's based on what we do here,
will your scale be light or will your
scale be heavy, brothers and sisters?
The believers
will be successful.
The believers will be successful.
And a lot of us, you know, again,
you know, we we we Muslim,
but are we believers? Do we believe what
Allah says?
This is what we have to look at.
We have to reflect on on those hiots.
Again, the job description.
It says again, those who in their prayers
humble themselves,
the Hashein
the Hashein, the humble, you know, and so
we we have to be of those who
avoid
whether
it's vain or frivolous.
Avoid the vain and frivolous and, again, charitable.
And, again, be mindful and be careful of
your private parts because everything you're gonna have
a voice on the day of judgment, brothers
and sisters. The money, how
you receive that money, what you did with
it,
your body parts will have a voice, everything
will have a voice. And again, we can't
comprehend it on this level.
You know, but everything will have a voice.
It's just like Dino or DNA.
You know,
when it it nowadays, you know, the the
the
the criminologist, they can, you know, look at,
you know, a person's DNA and tell them
what they did.
If you engage in the crime,
fingerprints,
it can, you know, scientists have that type
of level.
But the ultimate scientists
who gave the knowledge to the scientists, you
don't think they have the level
of of of understanding. You don't think Allah
has the level of understanding
that we he can determine
what you did on this phase of life
when these people can just okay. Look what
what the DNA says. This is what the
fingerprint says.
But your soul has a fingerprint and the
the soul is a recording device.
And that recording device will be played. And
what will what will your soul say?
I mean, we can see
what you do publicly, but what do you
do privately?
And so it's important
to listen to these words.
Allah tells us that the believers will be
those who
are successful.
And as Muslims,
the bottom line, if we follow
the lessons of the Quran, we're in a
win win
position.
If we believe,
you know, we have to accept,
You know, Islam, you know, again, first of
all, it's a it's it's a way of
life and it's not a religion. Religion is
just a set of rituals.
And if we treat the deen
as just a set of rituals, again, we're
gonna get what we strive for.
You know, we can't again treat the dean
like a buffet and we go to the
buffet. Okay. I don't eat no pork, so
I'm not gonna take that. Okay. I don't
eat meat. I don't eat red meat, so
I'll get some vegetables.
You know, we don't want to basically treat
our deen like a buffet.
Allah gives us what we need.
Picking and choosing that what you like, you
know, we we have to avoid that.
We have to make decisions
based on what is pleasing to Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala, especially the young folk.
You know, because in a few years,
many of us are gonna be gone.
And then a few more years, all of
us gonna be gone.
And so
who's gonna be there to call the Adan
at the Masjid?
Who's gonna be there to lead Salat?
How are you preparing yourself
to basically
start to lead the communities
not only locally,
nationally, but internationally? What are you doing? You
know, are you just a participant?
Are you basically
being involved in in in in in helping
to create the bridge? Because we're the bridge
generation.
There were people who came before us,
and we were in our twenties doing certain
things and and trying to build a community.
And so those of you who are in
your teens, twenties, and thirties, you have to
basically
step step up.
As Maksood,
said a few weeks ago when he gave
the quote, well, he talked about the importance
of doing that. You know, we're just the
bridge
and you have to say, you know, what
can I do to be more of service
to the Muslims? Not just the Muslims here
in the western, but the Muslims
nationally and also
internationally.
Am I a Muslim
or am I a Muqman?
Am I just one who submits
or am I one who is committed?
And we have you have to do that
every day.
We have to do that every day, brothers
and sisters.
And, you know, we brag on the fact
that,
oh, Islam is the fastest growing religion,
fastest growing religion
in this country.
Prophet foretold that that Muslims will be numerous.
But what again will be the quality of
the deen, of the of the of the
practices?
This is a hadith that
scares me.
The prophet
said,
the people will soon summon one another to
attack you as people when eating invite others
to share their dish.
Someone asked, will that because
of our small numbers at that time?
He replied,
no, you will be numerous
at that time,
but you will be scum and rubbish like
that carried down by the torrent.
And Allah will take fear of you from
the breast of your enemy
and and the last innovation into your hearts.
And someone asked,
what is innovation? And in the Arabic word
is,
And one translation for that
is again tending to deprive
strength or vitality physically or mentally. In other
words, weakening you weakening you and debilitating
you.
The messenger, Allah, he and he also he
he used the phrase, he says,
was
love of the world
and dislike of death.
Love of the world and dislike of death.
In other words, just being
worshiping more so the material things and and
just
seeing what you can get
as opposed to working for what you can
attain on the day of judgment.
Again, love of the world and dislike of
death. Again, this is Sahih Hadith.
You know, though we
we grieve the loss of life in Gaza,
we have to
recognize
again that these
times
were foretold by the prophet SAWALAWAY WASALLAM. And
again, as I mentioned last week, this struggle
has been going on for over 75 years
and
we have to recognize
when we look at that Hadid
that the Muslim nations failed
those people, the Palestinian people at that time,
1948.
You know, you have to look at even
there were Muslims that were involved in the
dissolution
of the last caliphate,
the Ottoman Empire.
When you study your history,
there were Muslims involved because again, they went
to nationalism
as opposed to Islam. Arab
nationalism
as opposed to Islam.
And the Ottomans got to the point where
they would they would they would pay
wealthy,
rich,
loving the world and fearing death.
So Allah stripped them.
And then after that, people started getting into
tribalism and nationalism.
And we have this situation today brothers and
sisters. So again, we have to not only
study our Quran and the Hadid, but we
have to study history.
Study history
and sociology and all the different sciences so
that we can become adept
at how to have a proper argument against
the the situation in Palestine.
And the bottom line is
the Muslim nations failed them.
And because a nation can only survive
by their military might for the most part.
Like, you have people who go around talking
about, well, I'm I'm a I'm a sovereign
I'm a sovereign citizen now.
You know, brother presented that to me years
ago.
And I listened to him.
I
said, okay. You're sovereign, but, you know, to
me, that sound like federal prison.
Because you can declare your sovereignty,
but do you have an army to back
up
that that that that sovereign status?
And so a nation can declare nationhood,
but they have to have that army to
declare to to to back it up.
And so you have Israel again, have the
4th largest
or 4th most powerful army in the in
the world.
And so no matter what they believe, they
back up what they
trying to establish. But the Muslims,
again, have become
weakened
and divided. And so we have to recognize
and look at the Hadith.
And that if
the Palestinians
are going to get justice, they have to
basically there again, I always tell there's no
military solution to that issue.
You know, there has to be some negotiation.
And so Allah knows best how it's going
to happen, but the Muslims have to get
together
to find a just solution for these people.
And again, we should not
fear death,
but we should not also romance life.
You know, death is something that we will
all face
and the issue is
what's gonna be the quality
of our death.
If I said anything that's inconsistent with what
Allah has given us and the prophet, peace
be upon him, has role modeled for us,
I take full responsibility for that. And if
I've said anything in which you have gained
some new understanding, as always, all praise belongs
to Allah.
Allah.
Dear. O Allah, send peace and blessings upon
our beloved prophet
and his family and his companions and Allah,
increase his honor and elevate his station. Grant
him the highest place in paradise
and bless him with your divine mercy. And,
oh, Allah, bless us with his intercession on
the day of judgment and forgive our sins.
Amen.
And, again, when we look at what's called
martyrdom,
the prophet, peace be upon him, said
martyrs martyrs are 5.
Again, those who die because of a plague
or an abdominal
disease, drowning,
or the falling of a building, and also
the martyrs in the lost cause. You talk
about the the people who died from a
military,
act.
That's from Bukhari.
He said also, one who dies protecting his
property is also considered a martyr.
That's what the prophet said.
Whoever is killed while protecting his property is
considered a martyr.
Again,
this is Sayyid Bukhari.
And so we have to develop a proper
attitude
about life and death to remember that this
phase of life is just transitory,
and the real life begins
after we leave this phase of life.
And, you know, I always talk about this
is just the middle womb. Our first womb
is the womb of our mothers and this
is just a womb.
And then true life begins in the hereafter.
And there'll be no more death. Death will
die.
And we have to believe that, brothers and
sisters. And will we be successful or unsuccessful?
And then if
a person you see the people being killed
by the collapsing of the buildings and the
earthquakes,
Again, they get the the reward of martyrdom.
And what does the law say about the
martyr and and do not say for those
who are slain in the way of Allah,
they are dead. Nay, they are alive, but
you do not perceive it.
The realm of the afterlife is beyond our
level of comprehension, and we must have enough
faith
to believe that the people who perish in
wars, famine, natural disasters are living beyond our
ability to perceive, brothers and sisters. So, again,
we have to be diligent in prayer
and be of those who make regular doer
for the oppressed, the impoverished, as well as
the unjustly imprisoned.
Again,
encouraging
specifically the brothers to increase your attendance
to the prayer. I know we had the
pandemic and, you know, we got a pause,
but now we're in post pandemia.
So we have to be of those who
are active
in in coming to the Masjid. And again,
not just our Masjid, whatever is near you.
Whatever is near you brothers and sisters. So
we have to basically increase
the increase our prayers.
You know, we've fallen off
not just locally but throughout the nation.
So how can we be
how can we expect to be successful
if we're not making the sacrifice of sleep,
if we're not making the sacrifice of time,
if we're not making the sacrifice of money?
How can we be successful, brothers and sisters?
What is true success? Again, are we gonna
be of those who are loving the the
world and fearing death? Or are we gonna
be of those who, again,
keep the world in perspective
and prepare for death?
Some of us don't even have the ability
to have,
a proper denazza.
Do you have a will?
Do you even have the shroud that you're
gonna be wrapped in when you're washed and
buried?
No matter how old you are,
do you have money set aside for that?
Or do you have any type of, insurance
to be able to do that? Brothers and
sisters, again,
everybody gonna die.
So we're gonna be,
you know, such and such died. So we
need to put the monies together.
And so that becomes a burden on the
community. So
no matter how old you are,
those are the types of things that you
need to have in place. Because you know,
we are, you know, living like we're gonna
live forever.
You know, we have to make sacrifice.
Allah says
each person has guardian angels before him and
behind watching over him by Allah's command.
Allah does not change the condition of a
people unless they change what is in themselves.
But if he wills harm on a people,
no one can ward it off apart from
him. They have no protector.
They have no protector.
So, again, we have to accept that if
we wanted
any form of success, we have to put
forth effort.
And if it is ordained for you, then
you will achieve it. If it's not ordained
for you, then no entity can give it
to you.
Again, we have to pray
for success in this life
as well as success
in the hereafter.
The believers
have indeed attained
true success.
Our lord take us not to task if
we forget or fall into error.
Our lord lay down on us a burden
such as you did lay on those who
have gone before us.
Our lord lay down on us a burden
which we do not have the power to
bear and and overlook our thoughts and forgive
us and have mercy on us. You are
our protector and grant us a victory over
disbelieving people.
