Mustafa Khattab – Next Life 6 La Ilaha Illa Allah
AI: Summary ©
The importance of acknowledging only one God for worship is discussed in Islam, where every statement is unknown until the end. The use of parrotting during death is also discussed, as it is difficult to read at the time. The transcript describes a death by a parent in Egypt, where a statement caused the parent to become upset and cry, and a situation where a Muslim brother with a small scarf caused a woman to die and become upset. practicing the statement at the time of death is crucial to avoiding future mistakes.

So,
I know the sisters, inshallah, have the dawah
halata in the back, so we'll keep our
talk short, inshallah. So we should be done
by,
7.
So we'll talk tonight, inshallah, about
La ilaha illallah.
And this is the,
the most important statement that you as a
Muslim,
can make.
And this is the only thing that Allah
is
requesting from people, Muslims and non Muslims.
And if Surah Al Bayyina
that talks about the purpose and the mission
of the Prophet
is to help people say, ila ilaha illallah.
And this is the job of the Prophets
from the beginning till the end, from Adam
to Muhammad
He says in the surah,
Every community has been requested to do one
thing, to say,
That's all. Nothing else.
To make it very easy for them, anything
else will come after insha'Allah, salaam, zakat, everything.
But first to say, llah ilaha illallah, sorry.
To acknowledge that there's only one God to
worship.
On the day of judgment,
So in this authentic hadith,
on the day of judgment, as mentioned in
the Quran in several places, in Surah Al
Imran and other places.
When the
and the wicked will see the horrible punishment
that awaits them,
they will try to ransom
themselves, to save their neck from jahannam.
So they say, Allah,
I will give you the world
full of gold to save myself.
First of all, they don't own the world
and all the gold in it. It is
not theirs.
Now they are offering it to the to
the one who actually owns it. It is
not theirs.
But Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala would tell them,
I wanted something
much much easier than this from you. I
don't I don't need gold. I don't need
the the earth full of gold. I just
needed one word from you.
That's it.
That's it. There's only one God. And Allah
is the only one. He's the only one
from the beginning of time till the end
of time.
In any religion, Allah
in any scripture is the only one who
says,
I created, so worship me. I provide for
you, so thank me.
'Isaiah alaihi wa sallam never made such statement.
Buddha,
Krishna, none of none of these Gods ever
said, I created, so worship me. No one
except Allah
He said it in Al Fatiha,
is the Lord, the Creator, the Provider of
everyone and everything in the whole world, in
the universe.
And even in the Bible, on the first
page in the book of Genesis when it
talks about creation, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says,
I'm the one who created everything in 6
days. So he made it very clear, no
one else made such such claim.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, this is what
He is requesting from people.
So this statement is very special because now
you acknowledge that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is
a creator,
He is a provider.
When you say, you
acknowledge that He is the only God, you
acknowledge that he is alive,
you acknowledge that he is one, you acknowledge
that he can hear you because you are
calling upon him
You acknowledge that he will respond to your
dua and so on and so forth. And
this is why
in the Quran and in the statements of
the prophet
that,
when the prophets would make dua to Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala,
as a way of introduction to make dua,
they say
This will open the door. You see, when
you want something from someone,
like,
first you say,
I love you, all these things.
And so on and so forth.
Musa
when, Musa alaihis salaam came back and his
people were worshiping the Kaaf, and and he
was mad at his brother Harun. And Harun,
yeah, and he wanted to, yeah, and
he touched his heart.
He didn't say my brother. He says,
O son of my mother,
to touch his heart, to open the door
of kindness.
So in the story of Yunus alaihis salam
when he left without permission,
and he was in the belly of the
whale and he said,
Before he made before he asked the love
for forgiveness is,
which means,
you Allah, if you don't forgive me, who
will forgive me? If you don't answer my
dua, who will? You are the only one.
So the prophet
said, the master of all supplications for forgiveness
is to say, You Allah, You are my
Lord and I'm Your servant.
And you continue the dua. You acknowledge that
He is your Lord and He is only
1.
So this is the statement that Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala is requesting from the people. When
the
if
this is the last thing you will say,
you will go to Jannah straight because the
doors will be open for you.
But no one will be able to make
such statement.
You will not be able to say it
at the time of death
except when you say it from your heart
and you say it all the time.
So you would be able to say it
automatically. You don't have to force yourself,
to say it. It comes from your heart.
And,
gonna go off topic for just one minute.
Is very unique in the Arabic language because
these two sentences have no dots on them.
They're unique. Any other sentence, at least you
will find one letter with a dot. This
one doesn't.
And
is also unique because
it comes from deep inside.
It is not like my mother it comes
from here. You see? But
comes from inside.
Deep down there close to your heart.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala makes it easier
for people to say it even when they
are dying,
they don't even have to move their lips.
They can only just they just move their
tongue.
You don't use your lips because some people
find it difficult to move their lips when
they are dying. They can't control their lips.
It makes it even easier for you to
say. So to be able to say it
at the end in this difficult time, you
have to be saying it all the time,
and it has to come from your heart.
But if someone repeats it,
in,
for example, they say it routinely,
if it will, you know, be easy for
them to say it at the time of
death.
One of the he used used to teach
to his students,
and he used to teach them the meaning
of
almost every day.
One of his students
knew that the teacher loved birds, like parrots
and stuff, sparrows and
so he gave him a parrot, a colorful
parrot. Some of these parrots, they can talk
and repeat statements.
So the parrot was there,
and everyday he was listening to the talks,
and the parent started to recie to,
recite and repeat.
Everyday he was saying it.
He was saying it all the time because
he was hearing it all the time.
So
one day,
a cat came by and it attacked
the parrot,
and the parrot didn't say
when he was being eaten. He was screaming
and screaming and screaming.
So when the students came, they found the
teacher crying, and they said, okay. Why are
you crying? We can buy you another one.
He said, I'm not crying for this. I'm
crying because this parent was only saying it
by his tongue.
And when he was dying, he didn't say
he was just screaming and crying, and and
I hope that we will not be in
the same situation when we, we leave this
world.
We know from experience that some people go
to the hospital before they die, and they
have a difficult time. And,
when people
on them, they say
in front of them.
In some cases people don't say it.
Because they are not used to this statement,
and it it it didn't come from their
heart.
And someone was dying at the hospital.
He basically had a store,
and his 5 kids were were there with
him in the hospital.
He didn't pray. He didn't you know, he
was
you're just not not practicing.
So he was dying,
and,
his kids were around him, and they were
saying
and
he was not listening to them. At some
point, he got mad
and he said, where is Ibrahim? They said
he is here. Where is Arif? Arif said
I'm here.
Where is Mohammed? Mohammed is here. Where is
Hassan? Hassan is here. He said,
So he said, if all of you, all
of my kids are here,
who is in the store?
We're wasting money here. Right? So his focus
is not
His focus is on the on the money,
and he started to curse at them. He
didn't want to say it.
So this is the thing.
Is is a very important statement.
And even, subhanAllah, they say,
if someone is not practicing
but,
you know, they love Allah and they love
Islam,
and and whenever they remembered Allah when they
are on their own or privately,
maybe
will benefit them. They say even if
if someone who is not even a believer
in if
they say
from their heart at the time of death,
they say it will benefit them.
We'll give a few examples.
When he was asking Abu Talib to say
when he was dying, he said,
If you say it, I will make shafa
for you on the day of judgment, and
you will go to Jannah. But still he
didn't say it.
In the Hadith, authentic Hadith,
the Jewish
youth who was serving the prophet and
when he was dying, the prophet
visited him,
and he said,
He was not willing to say it, and
the youth was looking at his dad, and
his father told him,
listen to to Muhammad. Listen to Abu Qasem.
So he said, and
he died.
He said, we saved him from Jahannam. So
it benefited them.
Why? Because they said it and they actually
meant it. It he was saying it out
of his heart. But in the case of
when
he was drowning, he said the same thing.
But the reason it didn't save him because
it was not coming from his heart. He
was just saying to save his neck. It
was not coming from his heart.
So this is the difference between the 2.
So
I'm gonna keep my word Insha'Allah. I'll finish
in 2 minutes so the sisters will, start
their helicopter.
This is a true story that happened in
Egypt many years back, about 20 years ago.
In Egypt, we have big buses,
and we have smaller means of transportation. We
have microbus.
Around 11 people will get into the bus
or microbus.
So one day, this microbus was traveling from
Tanta to Cairo,
and there was this guy with his mother.
And she was dressed up in black, and
she had a very small hijab, tiny little
scarf on her head.
And there were travel. She was kind of
old, and she was coughing and everything.
And next to her or next to this
guy and his mother, there was a brother,
long beard, the wife Thobe, and the and
the most half.
So on the way,
his mother got very sick,
and it seems she was dying. They didn't
have cell phones back then, so the guy
got off the
the micro bus and he was looking for
a store where he can make a call
for the ambulance to come and take his
mother. And it took him some time to
find the store and to make the call.
It took him maybe about 5 minutes to
be able to, to find a store. And
the micro bus pulled over, and it was
by the side of the road, and the
guy went inside the village or the town
to find a, telephone.
Now the brother with a
and the was sitting next to the lady
because her son left. He he he, went
to get some aid, and now the lady
was giving her up her soul, and she
was dying, and the brother was saying, say
I know you're dying.
And she was hesitant
to
say it. There is only one guy.
And he kept repeating it.
And he said if you say
he will go to Jannah. You say Eventually
she said
and she died.
2 minutes later, her son came
and and they told him, you don't have
to call the ambulance because your mom died.
And he started to cry,
and and he was very mad that he
was not by her side when she passed
away.
And, so now the Muslim brother with the
beard and the miswak said, okay. Don't worry.
Your mommy is a is in a very
good place now. See, she's in Jannah.
So the guy said, okay. How do you
know? He said, because she said,
She, you know, she she's a good Muslim.
She said,
So the guy said, why did you do
this?
You know, they they were Christian in in
Egypt. Right? And the older ladies, they dress
in black, they have the little hijab, the
little scarf. So the guy thought the lady
was Muslim. He didn't know. He just saw
an old lady with the hijab because the
women in in our village in Egypt, even
Muslim women, they dress in the same way.
He thought she was Muslim and he gave
her and
and she said
and and hopefully it came from her heart.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to help
us say La ilaha illallah before we die,
and we hope that, we'll mean it inshaAllah,
and it will open the doors, for Jannah
for us.
