Alhamdulillah,
we raise the mercy of Allah
will be finishing we have finished Surah Anfal,
and we have started Surah D'Tobah.
In the beginning of the salutation, Allah Subhanahu
brings a verse that,
makes you think.
Because he says that
there are those people that
hear.
They're people that hear, but in reality they're
not listening.
And this is actually very deep of Allah.
Where everyday we hear the reminder of Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Every day we hear the words of Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, but we
leave here without listening to anything.
You know, sometimes
you're with your spouse and she's talking or
he's talking
and they ask you, are you listening? I'm
hearing. I can hear it. But my listening,
that's a different thing. Sometimes we choose not
to listen.
And this is where Allah Subhanahu wa nah
is telling us that the worst of animals
are the ones that don't listen.
And
this reminder tells us that, look, every day
we come here and listen to a reminder,
but what are we taking back?
Is there an implementation
into our life
or
is it just falling on deaf ears?
And this is the first verse that we
actually recited to him. We started off very
powerful.
Then in talks
about
the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam and Abu
Bakr Siddiq radhi wa sallam
when they were in the cave of When
there were 2 in the cave, but in
reality there was a third.
And one of them said to the other,
don't worry,
relax, chill out,
calm down.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is with us.
And this verse actually
you look at this when you're at work
and you're stressed,
When you're worried about your bills,
When you're worried about your health, you're worried
about your children,
Don't worry.
Put your trust in Allah
But this trust in Allah
and also in trade restrictions.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says that Allah does
not change
the condition of a nation until
they themselves have to make the change.
And this is huge.
So if you look at the first verse,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says,
don't worry, I'm with you.
But you have to make an effort as
well.
In reality,
everybody wants
the goal and the destination.
You want everything to be perfect,
but
to get to the goal, you have to
go through the journey.
And people want to skip.
We wanna skip the journey
and reap the fruit,
and get
the to the end.
For example, you want
your children to be obedient,
but
you ask yourself, how much time do I
give to my children?
You want Jannah, and you ask Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala, oh Allah, give me Jannah, but
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in return is saying,
have you started the journey?
Imam Ghazali
very beautifully says that,
to get what you love,
you first have to be patient
with what you don't love.
What you love is your children to be
obedient with you, but what you don't love
is the effort that you have to put
into it. What you love is Allah subhanahu
that forgives your sins, but what you don't
love is
putting in the effort and doing good.
And this is what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
in this verse tells us, look, whatever your
condition is,
yes, you want a change,
but
it's not gonna happen just by dua.
I've been making dua. Oh, Allah,
change me. Oh, Allah, change me. O Allah,
don't let me go back to my sins,
but Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in return is
asking you,
what steps have you taken?
If you still have those certain things bookmarked
and you say, not in Ramadan,
then
what changes there?
How can you expect Allah to give you
what you asked for in the 27th night?
How can you expect Allah
Well, all you have done is put a
pause
on the life that you are living.
If you wanna change,
then
step up to the plate.
Also, in today's presentation, Allah
talks about
a nation that say to Allah, oh Allah,
if this is from you,
bring down your punishment.
Shower upon us stones.
And so many times people challenge Allah
maybe they don't ask for stones to come
down,
but we challenge Allah
What's gonna happen?
But Allah says, number 1,
Allah will not punish the people as long
as the prophet
is amongst them.
So he tells the people at that time,
the Allah will not punish them until
is amongst them. And immediately what comes through
our mind oh, wait. What about us?
The prophet
passed away, does that mean Allah
is gonna punish us for our sins?
And then the next verse, Allah
says, that Allah will not punish you
as long as you repent back to Allah.
You don't want Allah's punishment?
Then turn to Allah
Ask him for forgiveness. And that's where we
start Surah al Tawba.
Surah Tawba has two names. Number 1, that
to break yourselves free from something.
And this is breaking ourselves free from the
actions of the the kuffal. And numbers 2,
so the Tawba. And then the reason why
it gets its name, so the Tawba of
course, we all know that there is no
Bismillah in the beginning, and scholars say the
reason why because this is not about the
mercy of Allah
We thought we were actually read so many
verses in Surah Anfalah as well in Surah
Tawba that talk about war,
then the rules of engagement when it comes
to Islam, very strict rules that lost one
that puts out. But in Surah, the reason
why it gets the name Surah Tawba
is that a group of people, a small
group of people, and this is a question
that we'll have tomorrow for our youth trivia.
There were 3 companions
who Allah
accepted the repentance in this Surah.
And one of the his name is Kabim
Malik. He narrates his lengthy at least, and
he says that
the announcement was made for the battle of
Tabuk.
In the 8th year of Hijra,
the Romans were coming with 200,000
soldiers.
And got up with a companion and said
that, you want this is mandatory.
Everybody has to come.
And the prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam was stood
up with 30,000.
And there are some other stories that we'll
go into later on. But Kabi Malik says
that that time when this announcement happened, I
thought to myself,
I'll get there.
He says that it wasn't that I was
broke.
I had money.
I had 2 animals and before this I
never had 2 animals. I always had 1,
but now
blessed
me. And I thought to myself, I'll get
ready. There's time.
But then the army left Madinah.
And I said to myself that I'll get
on my animal and I'll catch up with
him. That's a whole large army moving. I'm
a single person I could catch up.
But
the Desi mentality
of procrastination,
we'll get there. Why do it today if
you could do it tomorrow?
He says, then
got to Tabuk,
And the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam is
in the companion, Ma'az bin Jabali, he actually
narrates told me that the Prophet sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam asked about you in Tabuk, where
is Ka'a bin Malik?
And I said, okay. I'll get there. I'll
get there. I'll get there until what I
find out the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
and the Muslims are not coming back to
Madi and to Maruwa.
When Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam comes back
to Madi and to Maruwa, all of the
munafiks, the hypocrites,
they went to Rasulullah
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, and they presented their
excuse. I was sick. This happened. That happened.
My car broke down.
And
just nodded his head.
Go. Go.
Then came my turn.
And I knew, Qabi Ma'ik says that I
knew if I lied to the prophet he
would've accepted it, but
Allah would've exposed me.
I could've said whatever.
And he would have out of his mercy,
he would have taken it. But what if
Allah
exposed me?
So I went and I said the truth,
it was my own laziness.
I was meant to come,
but then I just got lazy. Like that
night that you went to go to Tarawi.
Let me just lay down for 10 minutes.
There it goes.
He says that, after I
owned up to my mistake,
I then thought to myself, maybe I should
go back and change the truth.
I started to regret my actions. I said
that maybe I should go back and make
an excuse.
But then the prophet
made an announcement that these three people,
the true Muslims,
nobody's allowed to speak to them, and this
is Allah
setting down the law.
Yes. Our religion is about mercy, and, no,
we can't all just hold a hand and
sing Kumbaya all day.
There are rules. There are regulations. There are
things that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has commanded
us to do. And if you don't, then
our own actions has consequences.
And he says that the announcement was made
that the 3 of us, nobody is meant
to speak to us. We're not meant to
talk to us. We are cut off.
So Qabi Ma'ik says that I would go
to the masjid. I would see the prophet
and the he would look at me, but
as soon as I would look at him,
he would look away.
On the 50th day, Allah revealed the verses,
and
I was freed from this punishment. Inshallah, we'll
carry on with the story some other time.
This is many of many many beautiful ayats
that were mentioned.
