			today's for the remainder and Inshallah, the next few days will be the result of questions that a
good friend of mine asked.
		

			So let me begin by making a request to all of you please send in your questions and then topics that
you want me to talk about topics that you would like to learn about and so on so forth.
		

			So that I can then
		

			upload stuff which is relevant and which
		

			will be of use to you inshallah.
		

			I don't promise to speak about every single topic that I get with some topics, I may not know enough
and I don't like to speak about things that I don't know. But inshallah we will make the efforts.
		

			Now the question that this friend asked me was, with regard to
		

			money, about
		

			the how to explain the importance of money to children
		

			especially young children,
		

			they want the parents want their children to grow up with the right values as far as money is
concerned. So and money is important. It's important for the men for the women.
		

			And so, how do we
		

			how do we teach on that? How do we teach the importance of money in a way which is Islamically
Correct. Second thing is,
		

			we live in a world today which
		

			very sadly and tragically seems to run on one single principle and that is,
		

			money is the sole criterion of success and failure, the sole criterion of honor and dishonor, the
sole criterion of respect and lack of respect and so on and so forth. As long as a person is
wealthy, he or she is respected or looked up to the icons there
		

			what they call out is influencers and so on and so forth, quite irrespective of every other aspect
of their life. So, this the so called influencer could be
		

			good could be into drugs could be into all kinds of shady activities,
		

			could be immoral,
		

			could be a liar and a cheat and a deceiver. None of that matters in today's world, all that matters
is that this person is wealthy,
		

			how they got their wealth, what they do with their wealth,
		

			what is their behavior towards people towards the environment towards anything?
		

			Whether their lives, the sum total of their lives? And does it describe commitment and contribution
or does it describe pure and simple consumption? None of this makes any difference. The only thing
we seem to think about the only thing that we seem to give importance to is how much money do you
have?
		

			Now, given this environment, how do we teach
		

			children the importance of money?
		

			I was asked a question by
		

			a very dear friend of mine from South Africa.

			with him and similar things so he one day he asked me, he said, Try does can money buy happiness? So
I said yes, of course money can buy happiness.
		

			But like anything else, you need to know where to find it.
		

			You know, if you say Can money buy cars, of course you can buy cars, but you can't buy cars with but
no matter how much money you have, you cannot buy a car using that money in Walmart.
		

			You cannot buy a car using that money in a restaurant, right? You have to go to a car dealership.
		

			So yes, money can buy happiness, but you have to know where happiness is to be found.
		

			So he said, this is a good topic. And let's talk about that. And we talked about it.
		

			And then I converted that into a lecture, I'm going to ask Omar to put the link to that lecture in
this for the reminder as well. Can money buy happiness?
		

			So, to come back to our question, how do you teach this to our children?
		

			You know, the simplest thing, the best way to do that
		

			a general rule as far as children are concerned, especially in today's world, is to use the word
yes. Much more often than the word no. Now, I'm not against
		

			boundaries, I'm not against
		

			saying no to children, we have to say no, if there is something wrong, yes, it is wrong, it is
wrong. We have to say no, you can't do this. And this is haram, this is privated. And this is true
is not this is not for you to do. So that has to be done. But especially because today we live in a
world where there is so much of negativity, and there's so much so many things that you you have no
choice you have to say no, this is not permissible, this is haram this cannot be done. There are so
many things like this,
		

			that to the extent possible, it is better to start from the perspective of yes, in many things, and
then lead them and show them and let them draw their own conclusion about what you are seeing
whether it is something to be done in order. So in the case of money, for example, how do you teach
a child the bottom line is just that.
		

			Money can buy happiness start from start from this, you want to be happy? Okay, here's money. Here
is $10 $20, whatever, Boy Pocket money. Now, what are the options you have?
		

			So teach them the issue of options. So you're talking about money, but talk about options? What are
the options you have? What can you do with money,
		

			don't put words in their mouth don't put words in their head, Let them say what they have in their
hearts, you need to know that what can further material you know I can?
		

			Who does money, I can buy some toys, or I can buy some ice cream or I can buy this I can buy that I
can buy that. So yeah, sure. Surely, you can do all of those. So effectively, what are you saying?
You're saying that you can use this money to consume to buy buy, buy, Okay, what else can you do
with money?
		

			lead them to the point where you say okay, this money can also be used to help somebody.
		

			Right? To help somebody who's in need. So here are the person homeless person, here's a person who's
hungry, who have no who has no food, and you give them $10 and see the smile on their face. Now,
don't do that, in theory, actually take them and let them do it.
		

			on their own. Obviously, you watch you supervise you don't let the child loose on the street. But
you make sure that this child experiences the joy of somebody else.
		

			Feeling the effect of a difficulty taken away because of your action.
		

			So I was sitting here on the side of the street today I'm a homeless person, I have no food and I
was sitting here wondering what will happen to me today, will I be able to get a meal or am I going
to sleep hungry? like I normally do and here comes this little boy or little girl who gives me his
money or metro still who buys me a pizza and brings me the pizza right buys me a burger and bring me
a burger whatever it is that you do help them do that actually physically let them lead
		

			let them see that there are alternate uses of money money is not something to be only used to buy
stuff to acquire more and more possessions possessions add cost not value get this helped you
understand this possessions add cost not value. So we are not valued by opposition. So may help them
to understand this. And
		

			alternate uses. This is one use. Another use is how can you make the money work for you? So So okay,
so instead now of buying just this and this and this, think about what is it that your friends want?
		

			What is it they need? Now you go buy that thing and sell it to them at a profit.
		

			So you start off with $10 you end up with 12 donors, you end up with $15 So you're getting the money
to work for you. So two alternate uses of money, buying stuff we all know, but two alternate uses of
money.
		

			rather than better than simply buying stuff, one is used the money to
		

			help somebody in a time of need.
		

			Let buy happiness with it, happiness for somebody else, which is really happiness for yourself. And
the second use of money is make the money work for you.
		

			How can I get the money to earn more money? There are many, many cases of self made millionaires and
billionaires who started like that, by making their money work for them. There is a book, the link
of that also, I will ask Omar to put in here called Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Rich Dad, Poor Dad. It's an
old book but it's amazingly well written. It's a fantastic book and I completely agree with the
things that the man has talked about.
		

			And
		

			so do read that book as well. Right? So this is what you get is how you can teach the children teach
