The heart is the most significant organ of the human body, both physically and spiritually. Thus, we need to strive to make sure our hearts are sound, healthy and free of every defect. The Prophet (SAW) said, “There is a piece of flesh in the body, if healthy, the whole body is healthy, and if corrupt, the whole body is corrupt. Indeed, it is the heart.”

I like to welcome you all to this new program on Hooda TV,
where we will be looking at one of the most important things that every single Muslim should be concerned about, rather, something that every single human being should be concerned about. And that is related to the very essence of man's creation, the very essence of your being the very core of who you are.
And that is
related to your heart.
And so over the next several episodes, in this program, heart therapy, we're going to be looking at matters related to the heart. What is the heart? What is its significance? What are some of the different kinds of hearts? And how is it that we can improve and purify those hearts of ours. And then towards the end, we'll have a look at some of the different actions related to the heart that will help us to purify and cleanse our hearts.
In this first episode, we begin by having a look at the definition of the heart and its significance. And so throughout the Quran, you find that Allah subhanho wa Taala has referred to the heart
either by mentioning it as an called and the plural of which is a lube or by mentioning the word and, and forever ad and it's plural lF EDA.
And so in approximately 130 to 140 different places in the Quran. Allah subhanho wa Taala has mentioned the heart and so for example, a loss of Hannah who what Allah says Allah who are Harajuku nimbu neomatik from Latta Allah, Masha, Allah subhanho wa Taala extracted you brought you out from the wombs of your mothers when you were born. While you did not know anything, meaning that Allah brought us out of the wombs of our mothers with zero knowledge. And then Allah says, Allah Allah Kumu sama? Well busara will either La La Quinta School of La subhanho wa Taala said, and then he gave you hearing and he gave you sight and he gave you hearts he made for you hearts so that perhaps
you would be grateful so that perhaps you would be thankful to Allah subhanho wa Taala for these huge and enormous blessings
and it was a parent who also says Flm ESC roofing or do they not travel throughout the earth? further cool feather Khun Ella home Kowloon yaku Yaki una de la, oh, Daniel, yes merona, Bihar obeah. So that perhaps they will have hearts with which they reason with which they think
or perhaps they will have ears with which they will hear and then Allah subhanahu wa tada says, so in Latin America bizarre
For indeed it is not the eyes that become blind, while lacking Tamil kulu Latif is pseudo rather, it is so hearts were in the chests that become blind.
Look at how Allah subhanho wa Taala described blindness.
And so whenever you think of someone who's blind you immediately
We think of someone who cannot see with his eyes. But Allah subhanho wa Taala said that that is not true blindness, rather true. And real blindness is the blindness of the hearts, those hearts that cannot see that cannot recognize a loss of Hannah who with data, and the signs, and the verses that Allah subhana wa tada has sent.
And so
Allah subhanho wa Taala, created man.
And man has outer physical features, as well as internal features.
However, most of our organs, and especially the vital organs, where are they not on our external body, but rather, inside of us, we have our hearts, we have our lungs, we have our kidneys, these are vital organs, if they fail, a person could actually leave it could lead to his death.
And the most important of these organs is the heart. The most important of these organs is the heart. So the question is what is meant by the heart,
we have three different usages of the word heart. The first is the physical heart that we have in our bodies, this muscular organ that is located between our lungs.
In our chests, it pumps blood through the blood vessels of our circulatory system.
As for the second usage of the term heart, then it refers to the spiritual or the metaphysical heart, which has a direct relationship to that physical heart. And it is the very essence of man.
It connects his body, and his mind and his soul. And it is this heart that really understand it is this heart that perceives things. And it is also this heart that Allah subhanho wa Taala has addressed throughout the Quran. And so in the Quran, whenever you come across a lot talking about the heart, he is referring to the spiritual heart, not the actual muscular organ that is in our body.
So this is the meaning of the heart and its usage. Besides that, we have other terms that are related, that we often hear, that are related to the heart,
we have, for example,
the soul, what is the soul? Basically, this the soul is a metaphysical entity that exists in our bodies, that originates from our hearts, and spreads through our bodies, through our veins, in our bodies, and the soul, it was created before our bodies, and then a loss of Hannah, who were to Allah sent the souls with the angels to be blown into the fetus when we are in the wombs of our mothers,
and the death of a person
what is meant by death, the death of a person signals the departure of that soul from the body. So when the soul leaves the body, that is the meaning of death in Islam. And so it is both
the body and the soul. It is both the body and the soul that will be resurrected together on the Day of Judgment, and together they will live until eternity.
How about the mind, the intellect and the alcohol.
It is also related to the soul and the heart. And so, the Huckle or the intellect, it is that which we reason with it is through the intellect that we are able to differentiate between good and bad. between
what is right and what is wrong between truth and falsehood.
And the opposite of that is insanity. And so a person who is insane, he is not able to distinguish between right and wrong between truth and falsehood. And so the intellect is also what a person uses to comprehend things with and it is through the intellect that he recognizes the reality of things and so we can say
That this is another word for the spiritual heart. And so the alcohol or reason or the intellect is another word for that spiritual heart.
Now, although most people when they think of the mind, and so when you talk about the mind, you talk about the intellect,
they immediately think of what is in their head, their brain.
However, Allah subhanho wa Taala has explicitly described to us that this alcohol, this intellect, is actually located in our heart,
and that it is the heart, that procedure and that it is the heart that comprehends that thinks that ponders the contemplates. And this is what basically the vast majority of Muslim scholars have agreed upon, in the past and the present. And so they have all agreed upon the fact that
the intellect is located were in our chests,
and so shameful Islam, even tanea, may Allah have mercy upon him, the great scholar from the seventh, he God century.
He says that many doctors and philosophers have said that the intellect is located in the brain. So we think and understand with our brains, and not with our hearts, then he said that the center is actually the heart, the center is actually the heart. And even Cathy, the student of Eben tanea, he added, that it is the arrogant philosophers who say that the mind is located in the brain. And so, it is the arrogant philosophers,
the disbelievers from among the philosophers who used to say in the past, that the intellect is located in the brain.
Now, one of the great scholars of this past century share Mohammed Salim Allahu, they mean, may Allah have mercy upon him.
He was asked about the same question Where is the mind or the intellect located? And that is because many people
they know that science tells us that it is our brains that we use to think with and to reason with etc. And so, he was asked this question and he gave him a very, very beautiful answer to that.
However, we will take a very, very quick short break, and then inshallah we will continue
Assalamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh Welcome back to our episode, our first episode of this program, heart therapy. Before the break, we mentioned that one of the great scholars of this past century shares eBenefits a mean, was asked about the question of where the alcohol or the intellect is located.
And this is because the view of the vast majority of Muslim scholars throughout history is that the mind or the intellect is located in the heart. And that is basically based on the many
verses in the Quran where Allah subhanho wa Taala mentions both the mind and the heart.
It's all he answered with a very beautiful answer. He said that the intellect is located in the heart, the heart is in the chest, but the brain perceives the brain it receives information and it visualizes it. Then it sends this visual visualization to the heart to see what it will come and
then the commands are sent from the heart. Back to the brain.
Then the brain executes. So the brain, he goes on to say, so the brain is like a secretary who organizes a whole bunch of files or documents, or you could say applications, and then sends them to the heart.
The one who is in authority above it, then this heart, when it receives these documents or applications, the heart it signs off, puts a signature, either passing the request the application, or rejecting it,
then sending it back to the brain. And then the brain commands the nerves.
And so it moves on. And so the brain, it sends messages to the body, to do this or to do that.
He goes on to say, This view is reassuring to the soul. This view this example that he gave in this opinion that he mentioned, which is the opinion of the vast majority of Muslim scholars, he says that this is reassuring to, you know, to the self, and it is also consistent with reality.
He goes on to say and shuffle Islam even tinier referred to it in his books. Then he says, also, in an Ahmed, referred to in general, when he said, you know, Mohammed said, the place of the mind is in the heart, but it has a connection with the brain. It has a connection with the brain. And so from this, we see that the intellect
and the mind that we think with is actually in the heart. And so it is our hearts that we use to think with. And that's why throughout the Quran, Allah subhanho wa Taala has referred to the heart in such a way.
Allah subhanho wa Taala describes the heart as either thinking, or pondering, contemplating, or Allah subhanho wa Taala has referred to the heart with having locks upon them that prevent them from contemplating and from thinking.
And so from this, we can see the importance of the heart, we can see the importance of the heart. And so no other organ of the body is as important, not bodily, nor spiritually. And so, everyone knows, each and every single human being knows that if
the heart fails, then what happens, the body fails, and a person dies. Similarly, if your spiritual heart feels, if it fails to function properly, if it is ill and diseased, and it is not functioning the way it should be, then without a doubt, the rest of your body, the same thing will happen, and you as a human being, you will not function properly.
And this is something that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam alluded to, when he said in the very famous Hadith that is reported in a Buhari and Muslim, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said
that Verily, there is a piece of flesh in the body,
that if it is healthy, the rest of the body would be healthy and sound.
But if it becomes corrupt, then the rest of the body will become corrupt. And then he said, Indeed, it is the heart and our he'll call.
And so this heart of ours, the spiritual heart,
it is like
an army general.
The Army General.
He has a whole bunch of battalions and troops and soldiers under his command.
And so the heart is like this army general. And the body organs are like those soldiers.
They only listen and obey what the heart commands. And so you use your heart
as you wish. It is your heart that you use to command
The rest of your body.
And so, the heart is the master,
and every other part of the body comes under his servitude, and comes under his control. And so either he will command it with good, he will command the bodily organs with good or he will command the bodily organs with evil.
And this is also why Allah subhanho wa Taala has given special importance to the heart
with respect to how it will be received on the Day of Judgment.
And so Allah subhanho wa Taala mentioned the heart
and did not mention any other bodily organ
when it comes to what we will bring on that day, on that day, when nothing will benefit any any one of us. And so Allah subhanho wa Taala tells us on the tongue of a holy Ibrahim alayhis salam.
Allah subhanho wa Taala says well as to hussaini Yama Yama through Ibrahim al Islam says and Oh Allah do not disgrace me on the day that they will all be resurrected.
Yo mela young Pharaoh Madeline wala by noon on that day,
in which nothing will benefit a person, not his wealth, nor his children. And then what did a law say? In a law her call bin Salim. The only thing that will benefit a person on that day, a lot made one exception and only one exception. 11 Attila has called in Saleem except the one who comes to a law with a sound heart with an upright heart with a healthy heart.
Also, Allah subhanho wa Taala told us
that this heart along with our functions of hearing and seeing,
they will be questioned on the Day of Judgment. And so Allah subhanho wa Taala said in the summer, while basato wonderful ad kulula aka Carnahan, homeless Allah,
that, indeed, the hearing
the sight, and what is the third thing, the heart, about all of these, one will be questioned, we will be questioned about each and every single one of these three things. And so if the heart had no importance,
then Allah subhana wa tada would not have mentioned with such significance. This heart We will be questioned about it, about what it did, what it commanded us with
direct command us with good or did it command us with evil? Where did this heart Take us in this life, because as we have mentioned, it is the heart that controls everything. And so your heart will either take you to bliss and the reward of Allah subhana wa tada in this life and the next as we will discuss in the coming episodes or it will take you to destruction and the punishment and the Wrath of Allah subhanho wa Taala in this life and in the next.
Finally, among the important aspects of the heart,
is the fact that
Allah subhanho wa Taala
he does not look at any other aspect of man.
He doesn't look at
what color our skin is. He doesn't look at our physical appearance, how beautiful we look how ugly we look, whether we are short, whether we are tall, whether we are skinny, whether we are fat, whether we are a woman, whether we are a man,
Allah subhana wa tada only looks at one thing as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam told us in the authentic hadith narrated by Muslim where the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said
Allah Subhana who had to add in the law, her law
boodle Isla exami como la de la sua Rico.
Allah subhanho wa Taala does not look at your figures nor your attire.
However, what did the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam say? He said, Well, I can no longer jambu Ilana, if you could.
And in another narration, what he like America. He said, however, Allah looks at what is in your hearts, and he looks at your deeds. And so this is the only thing that Allah subhanho wa Taala is concerned about.
As for most people, they are concerned with the opposite the majority of mankind, they are concerned about their physical appearance. How beautiful do they look? What kind of clothes are they wearing? What kind of fashion are they dressing in?
How do they look? how they how do they appear? And they have forgotten about what is way more important than all of that. And that is? How is the state of our heart? How is the state of our heart? Is it a healthy heart? Or is it a dead heart? Or is it a diseased heart? And so, these are things that we are going to be looking at in the upcoming episodes of this program. Heart therapy that I asked Allah subhanho wa Taala to make each and every single one of us to benefit from I asked Allah subhanho wa Taala to grant all of us the ability and the power to look at what is more important and that is looking at how we can purify and perfect these hearts that we will be asked
about before Allah subhana wa tada on the Day of Judgment. With that we come to the end of this episode subhanak along we'll be having dig a shed will let you know. And still fuuka where to Lake wa salaam aleikum wa rahmatullah warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
