AI: Summary ©
The Islam world's chaos and chaos is a frequent event, with periods of quiet and stormy nights, chaos and stormy nights, and periods of 30-day and 30-day chaos. A man was praying for the Prophet sallam and was given a gift of a shirt as a gift to a woman who was left behind in the Islam ruling and was given a gift of a shirt as a gift to her.

Salaam Alaikum warhamketu, and welcome to another stop on our
journey with the Quran. And today, Inshallah, we're gonna be talking
about Surat Abu
Suratul tawba is one of the last Quran to be revealed to the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in Al Madinah. It's a Surah
madaniya, and it appears from all the characteristics of the surah
that it has all the characteristics of the Quran to be
revealed in Medina. It is talking about hypocrites. It's talking
about laws and rules and commandments. So
Surah to tawba is the only surah in the Quran that whenever we
recite it, we do not start with bismillahir, rahmanir rahim. There
are some reasons for that, or some interpretations or explanations by
the ulama of tafsir about that. Some of them say that it is just a
continuation of Surah Al Anfal, so there should be no separation
between the two. Some of them say, no, actually, it's a separate
Surah, which is the majority of the scholars, of course. And they
say that Surah Al Ara, a surah to tawbah is a warning from Allah
subhanahu wa and declares the end of any previous treaty with any
non believers that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had
the habit of the Arabs. Whenever they started a treaty or a
covenant or an agreement, they even before the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam, they used to start it with the name of Allah
subhanahu wa even when you look at the of Quraysh, when they decided
to boycott Benny Hashem early in the Dawah of the Prophet
sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam, they read, they wrote that into a
document, and they hung, they hang it at the Kaaba. So they started
that document with Bismillah allahum In the Name of Allah
subhanho wa taala. So the habit was, whenever you started an
agreement, you started with the name of Allah subhanho wa taala.
However, when you break that agreement, or when you terminate
it, you do not start with the name of Allah subhanahu wa so Allah
subhana wa taala. In this case, again, it was a termination of any
previous agreement between the non believers or the idol worshipers
and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Therefore it does not
start with the name of Allah, Subhanahu wa. Third interpretation
was that this surah has a lot of warning and a lot of promise of
punishment, especially to the hypocrites and those who betrayed
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And since bismillahir
Rahmanir Rahim is a declaration of the Mercy of Allah subhanahu wa
then this surah does not start with bismillahir Rahman Rahim,
because it was a warning of punishment for those idol
worshipers and pagans and non believers.
So the surah actually was revealed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam. At least the beginning of the surah was revealed to the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the first few Ayah baraah
to mean Allah. He was leden a Mushrikeen.
So this is a declaration of an end of an era
after the conquest of Mecca in the eighth year of the Hijra of the
Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam Allah subhanahu wa gave the non
believers and ultimatum, or gave them a period where they could
still come to Hajj in Al ashul Harum and frequent the house of
Allah, Subhanahu wa and to make Umrah and so on and so forth. And
that lasted for only one year. So in the ninth year of the Hijra of
the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam, in the first Hajj to be
conducted under the rule of Mecca by the Muslims. Rasulullah did not
participate in that hajj. He sent the delegation led by Sayyidina
Abu Bakr Allah,
and on the way to Mecca from Al Medina Munawwara, that delegation
of Hajj Allah, Subhanahu wa revealed these few Ayat at the
beginning of the surah to rasulallah. So the Prophet
salallahu alasallam sent a messenger to carry these ayat to
deliver them to Sayyidina Abu Bakr Al ya so that they can be declared
and recited in Al Qaeda as a warning for those who attended
Hajj during that year. So when the Prophet SAW Salam was asked, Who
are you going to send as a messenger to carry this ayat? He
said, It has to be someone from my immediate family, and the one who
fit that description was Sayyidina.
Aliyah. He carried this ayat, rushed to join the delegation of
Sayyidina. Abu Bakr and Sayyidina, Abu asked him,
Are you coming as a leader or as a follower? Amir ammaur, he said,
I'm just coming as a follower to deliver the swahi that was
revealed to the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam, so
that these ayat can be recited to give the final ultimatum to the
non believers who are still coming to the house of Allah subhanahu wa
and that ultimatum was that from now on, Hajj is only for Muslims.
Medcal is only for Muslims. Anyone who came this year for Hajj, they
have a grace period of no more than four months. So the reason is
that the people who came from the different corners of Arabia, who
traveled for hundreds or even 1000s of miles, sometimes even
though they to take them several months so for them to finish the
Hajj and go back to their home villages safely, without any
compulsion, without any oppression, it would take no more
than four months. So you have that period, and you cannot come back
to Mecca, mukha, Rama afterwards, unless as a Muslim. So from that
that day on, Mecca became on the city for Muslims, as is Al Madin
al Munawwara until today, Inshallah, until the end of time,
facial battle and a Jill if you insist on not embracing Islam. And
again, there's no compulsion you have to make up your mind. You
know that ultimately you're not gonna be able to run away from
ALLAH SubhanA wa Taala or overpower Allah subhanahu wa This
was the second part of that declaration, it's a loud
declaration, a warning from Allah subhanahu wa and His Messenger
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, that Allah subhanahu wa and His
Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, are innocent from the bad
practices and the wrong practices and the Wrong faith or lack
thereof, of of these idol worshippers.
So Surah to tawba starts with this big warning, this big milestone in
Islam, that from now on, no idol worshippers in Mecca. Al muqarram,
the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam, when he went to Mecca the
previous year as the Conqueror to conquer Mecca or to restore it to
Islam. His Allah Alam found 365
idols in Al qaba or around al qaba, and his Allah Alam pointed
to them, and whenever he pointed to the face of one of them, it
would fall on its back. Whenever he pointed to the back of one it
would fall on its way on its face, and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam ended the presence of these idols in makarama the
previous year.
It was also one of the bad habits of the Arabs that was mentioned in
this surah, as well a practice called en Nasi Allah subhanahu wa
is telling us in this surah that he Subhana wa taala, when he
created time in night that a Shahu ya in the lahit na Aja rajaran,
pkio, Mahala minharum,
so ALLAH SubhanA wa taala, when he created the heavens And the earth,
Allah subhana wa Taala established that calendar that consists of 12
months.
Among these 12 months, even before Islam, to the pagans of Arabia, to
the people who used to live in Arabia, they have identified based
on, again, a revelation from Allah subhanahu wa salam, because wa
salam, because ALLAH SubhanA wa Taala says that this was
established by ALLAH SubhanA wa Taal. Among these four months,
there are four months that are al ashram. What do you mean by Al
Sharam? It means that people can come to that sanctuary, to that
house of worship of Allah subhanahu wa from any corner of
Arabia without fear of persecution, without fear of war
or oppression or any armed struggle.
And these four months, Al ash Horam, as we know them today, are
dulqah, DOL Hijjah and Al Muharram three consecutive months, and then
the month of Rajab by itself,
traveling to and from Mel mukarrama For the purpose of Hajj
or Umrah, takes time again today, Alhamdulillah, we have the luxury
of.
Of airplanes and ships and so on and so forth. So it doesn't take
that long whenever we go for Hajj, and it's for four weeks we they,
we say we took the long journey for Hajj. But before that, if we
imagine, for example, just 100 years ago, someone who wanted to
make Hajj from Morocco, for example, which was part of the
Muslim world at that time. How long would it take them to travel
from Morocco to mecal muqarrama? It would take them probably a year
just to cross all of Africa and so on. And people did not
continuously travel, but they traveled for maybe a couple of
weeks, then settled for a few days and then resume travel and so on.
So that journey took months, and it was a journey of a lifetime.
People used to save for their whole life to make that journey,
and some of them actually did not return back to their home. Some of
them settled along the way in the countries, whether on the way back
from whether they settled in Al Hejaz or they settled in Hashem,
or they settled in Egypt or settled in other places on the way
back and did not go all the way back to their home countries.
So Allah subhanahu wa when he established this these 12 months,
including Al ash haram.
One of the bad habits of the Arabs that they used to do quite
frequently, is something called a Nasi and Nasi, and that was
performed by people who call themselves a NASA. And these were
very prominent people in their tribes, very big leaders, very
recognized leaders in their tribes. They would say, You know
what, this year we have a war. So in order to conduct that war in
the month of dulqah, for example, I'm going to postpone a Shahram.
Instead of being dulqah, I'm gonna move it to being Safar, for
example, the month following al Muharram.
So that person would stand and would say, I am such and such
leader, and by my authority, I am moving the Haram, haram from this
month to that month.
Or they would curtail the year. Instead of making it 12 months,
they would make it only 11 months again. They are playing with the
rules that Allah subhanahu wa has established. They would do that
sometime and stop it another time, and so on and so forth.
In fact, when rasulallah made Hajj the following year, which is Hajj
Wada, the only Hajj of the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam.
Time has already taken that cycle of multiple years until DOL Hijjah
came in its proper time it was. It did not come a month earlier
because of curtailing year, the year to 11 months. It did not come
one month later because adding, because of adding a month to the
year. So now it was the correct cycle, dual. Hijjah came in the
right time
within the year. That's why rasulallah mentioned in his speech
on Hajj at Wada, that time has come back to its normal cycle.
So we are performing hajj in the right time of the hijab from that
time on when this practice of a Nasi was abolished and canceled
and made prohibited. Alhamdulillah, from that time on,
the year is the regular 12 months. So the cycle has been resuming and
recurring in its normal frequency.
So Allah subhanahu wa taala criticized this practice and
banned this practice. Let's go back to the beginning of Surah te
taubah, and let's go back, actually, to an event that
preceded Surah te taubah by almost a year. Rasulullah sallamuni
conquered Mecca.
There was still some resistance in Mecca. One of the leaders of this
resistance was so when Ibn umayyah, sofwan ibn umayyah ibn
Khalaf, the leader of the tribe of Jumah, which is part of the bigger
tribe of Quraysh and sophone ibn umayyah, when he heard about the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, conquering Mecca, he tried
to lead some armed resistance, which failed very quickly. So he
escaped. He ran away and tried to go towards Jeddah and tried to go
through the Red Sea, maybe to Al habasha To seek sanctuary over
there. His cousin actually had high hopes for sophonim Novaya.
His cousin had embraced Islam a couple.
Of years earlier. So he came to the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa
sallam saying, Ya rasulallah. His cousin ome came to the Prophet
sallallahu Sallam saying, Ya Rasulullah. Let me try to talk to
Safwan and bring his bring him to his senses.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, fine. So when
otherwise, other than being a non believer, is a fine man. He has a
good mind. I hope that he can see the light and come to the family
of Islam so almighty, Ibn wa took the Imam of the Prophet,
sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, the turban of the Prophet saw as a
proof that is coming with an authorization from the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi salam, and he traveled quickly to try to catch
his cousin before he escapes. And he met with him, and so when said,
Why are you here? You are not my friend anymore. You're not my
cousin anymore. You betrayed me and you followed Muhammad
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and Alma told Safwan, I come with a
message of peace from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He is
willing to forgive you. Come back with me and the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam is gonna give you sanctuary and safety to decide on
your own.
Safwan said, and what's the proof for that? Maybe it's a trick,
another trick of yours. He said, I have the turban of the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to show you that I'm telling you the
truth. He went back to
Al Madin, to Al Madin to makal Bucha Rama with his cousin, and he
met with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And before
dismounting his camel, he started putting his conditions
yabuhamed. He didn't say Ya Rasulullah, because he is a non
believer. Still, I have a condition. This guy told me,
without naming his name, this guy told me that you gave me a
sanctuary. I want two months with no one talking to me about Islam
to make up my mind if I decide to become a Muslim, that's it. If
not, then I have two months to make up my mind, or even to try to
travel on my own. Rasulullah Sallam told him, No, I'm not gonna
give you two months. I'm gonna give you four months, four months
to make up your mind. You can live with us. You can see how we
practice Islam. You can hear about us firsthand. You can see us
firsthand. You make up your own mind. If after these four months,
you decide to leave, it's your decision. There's no compulsion in
Islam
within less than
a month, there was a major war between Rasulullah Sallam and his
companions and the army of hawazin in the Battle of hanail,
Rasulullah Sallam called for Safwan, who had a big armory, and
he asked him, Can we borrow some of your weapons? And sofuen asked,
Are you gonna take them by force, since on your captive now or No,
Rasulullah sallam said, No, we're gonna borrow them from you, and if
we lose any of them, we're going to compensate you for the value of
these losses. So one said, that's fine, and he provided the army of
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with a lot of weapons
after the battle was over, and Alhamdulillah, the Muslims were
victorious in that last major battle around Mecca.
So foil Ibn umayyah was standing behind the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam when Rasulullah Abu Asmaa was checking the gains
of war and they won a lot of cattle, a lot of weapons, a lot of
merchandise and a lot of money from the defeated army of hawazin
Rasulullah Abu Asmaa was standing between two mountains in a valley,
and that valley was full of cattle, sheep and cows and camels
and
animals like that. And so when I domayah looked at this, these
these huge flocks, and he loved them. He liked them. He said, What
a fortune.
Rasulallah noticed it in his eyes, and he asked him, Do you like
that, Safwan?
And he said, Of course, I do.
Rasulullah. Sallam told him, it's yours, if you want it, it's yours.
At that time, sofuen started thinking, look at this man. I was
his declared enemy. I was the last pocket of resistance against him.
He gave me sanctuary. He gave me the freedom to choose, and now.
Are two companions from muhajirin, Abdullah ibn Rahab, the Allahu
Anhu is a companion from the Ansar,
and it happened that the three leaders were martyred, RadiAllahu,
anhuj bayin And Sayyidina, Khalid Ibn Walid al RadiAllahu. Anhu
managed to bring the rest of the army safely, they were completely
outnumbered, more than 10 to one, but that was with the first major
confrontation between the Muslims and the Roman Empire.
Rasulallah did not forget the killing of his companions and the
massacre that they had. So Rasulullah sallam was planning to
go back on the offensive against that Roman Empire that is
threatening, because they are threatening to raid on me and in
Madinah Munawwara and terminate the Muslims. So the Prophet
sallallahu, Alam, as usual, took the initiative. We are not gonna
wait for them to attack us. We are going to take the initiative to
repel them. So rasulallah, whenever he went on an expedition
or in a battle, he would not tell what the destination is, because,
again, there are spies from the different other tribes and so on.
Therefore the Prophet sallallahu Sallam would tell his companions,
we are going on an expedition without telling them what the
destination is, except in the on the occasion of the Battle of
Tabuk. The reason is, it is in extreme hot weather in summer,
it is a very long distance traveling between Al manida, Al
Madinah, Munawwara and Tabuk. We're talking about hundreds of
miles, and it's a very strong enemy. So three major reasons, the
Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam, for the first time, told
his companions, whoever believes in Allah, Subhanahu wa and the Day
of Judgment, let them witness Ramadan with us in Al Madin al
munawwarah. And when they came from all corners of Arabia, the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam told them, we are going to
go to Hashem,
to fight the Romans who have been fighting us.
And now the Prophet saw them, gave ample time to that army to
prepare. He put some conditions. People who can come with us should
have a reliable ride. They should have enough provisions, food and
drink and money and so on and so forth. Strong ones should come
with us. This is not a journey for the poor. It's not a journey for
the weak. It's not a journey for those who do not have a right.
So people started looking around those who could provide. They did
their best. Rasulullah Sallam asked for donations for support of
this army. And Sayyidina a man RadiAllahu, Anhu gave a lot.
Sayyidina, Abdul Rahman Ibn RadiAllahu, Anhu gave a lot. It is
on this occasion that we read in the books that probably all of us
have read. This event When Sayyidina Umar of the Allah, who
brought 50% of his net worth of everything that he owned, thinking
that I'm leaving only 50% for my family and I'm giving 50% for
Allah subhanahu wa and then Sayyidina Abu Bakr Al Yallah wa
came with 100% of his net worth, RadiAllahu, Anhu. And when the
Prophet salallahu alays Allah asked him, and what have you left
for your family? He said, Tara to love rasulallah, I left them.
Allah, Subhanahu wa and His Messenger, sallallahu alayhi
wa, Sallam Rasulullah, called for this donation. And everyone, every
sincere Muslim, brought whatever they could. Some brought a lot
like Sayyidina Ramah, who donated once, and then he donated twice,
and then he donated the third time, the first time, he said, Ya
Rasulullah, I am donating 100 camels, fully equipped with the
weapons, with the provisions and everything, for 100 warriors. And
Rasulullah, Ali assalam, was very pleased with that. And then when
rasulallah asked for donation another time, Sayyid, not man
stood one more time and he said, Ya rasulallah, I am donating 100
camels. And rasulallah Asim, is it the same thing? He said, No, these
are another 100 camels, completely equipped with the weapons, with
the provisions, with everything. And then rasulallah asked for
donations one more time, and say.
Dark man, RadiAllahu. Anhu stood up the third time and he said, Ya
Rasulullah, I am donating another 100 camels fully equipped with all
provisions and so on. Rasulullah did like that.
What can I say? What can I say about the generosity of that? Man?
Dun nurain, RadiAllahu. Abulay Rashid,
that whatever Earth man does from now on, it will not hurt him. If
he makes any mistakes, they will not hurt him. Allah subhanahu wa
has forgiven us. Men, radiallahu anhu. But not everyone is as
wealthy or as generous as Sayyidina, athman, RadiAllahu,
Anhu. Not everyone is as wealthy or as generous as Sayyidina,
Abdul, Rahman Ibn auf or Sayyidina, Abu Bakr or Sayyidina
Omar. There were some companions who did not have much. All they
had was maybe a bag of dates.
They thought this can be food for some of the warriors. I'm gonna
bring it to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Now the
hypocrites are watching what's going on, and they're astonished.
What's going on here. Ruth man is donating all of this money. Is he
crazy? And they said, Well, he's doing it to show off. And when
this poor man brought a bag of dates to support the armed
struggle, they said, huh, what is this man bringing? What would a
bag of dates do, he's also showing off so they didn't like who gave a
lot. They didn't like who gave a little based on their capacity and
what they could provide. And Allah subhanahu wa again, criticized
that in the Quran Elina and mizuna min and meaning of sadaqat, these
are the people who are idle. These are the people who are never
satisfied by anything. They only want to criticize others and make
fun of others, and Allah subhanahu wa exposed them and exposed their
bad behavior criticizing the companions of the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. If you want to learn more about the
details of the Battle of the book and all of the detailed events,
again, I'm inviting everyone to check that in our series that's
called
Living with the Prophet sallallahu Alam on the YouTube channel of
Islamic source, you're gonna find a link to that Inshallah, at the
end of this of this meeting,
the beautiful ayat of Surat tawba are again, you're gonna find one
word that is repeated several times in Surah te taubah. If we
remember, when we were talking about Surat Al and I am we said
that one of the most repeated words was Kul tell them, because
when these non believers and idol worshipers in makal mukar Rama
came to argue with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam about
who Allah subhanahu wa is, What is Islam is, and so on and so forth,
Allah subhanahu WA instructed the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa
sallam, when they ask you about such and such, tell them such and
such. So that was a recurring theme in Surah Al annayam. The
recurring theme in Surah Te taubah is wamin Hum. Wamin Hum means and
among them, among whom, among the hypocrites, Allah subhanahu wa
exposes all signs of hypocrisy that come as a wide spectrum. And
Allah subhanahu wa gives the example of things that they have
said or acts that they have done that prove beyond any reasonable
doubt that they are hypocrites.
So some of them are making fun of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam and his companions who donate for the sake of Allah
subhanahu wa minum,
and some of them who claim that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam is listening to His companions and just copying what
his companions are saying, or the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam is just the conduit to deliver what Allah subhanahu wa
reveals to him,
and they're insulting the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam, and
insulting the family of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam, wamin humul Adina Nabi wa minhum
Yani, many, many allegations against Allah subhanahu wa and
against His Messenger, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Allah subhanaw
taala exposed their bad behavior. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam passed by one of the wealthy P.
I feared would happen. And then came the time for zakat, and came
the time to pay the dues to Allah subhanahu wa from this wealth.
That's also only from Allah subhanahu wa sallam Ali AS sent
the Zakat collectors to collect zakat from this man. He said, What
zakat? This is my money. This is my hard labor. This is my artwork.
I earn this money the hard way. Do you how? How dare you come and ask
for part of it?
And he refused to give his zakat. So these zakat collectors came
back to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and said he
refused to give his zakat.
And then the man woke up to his senses, and he wanted to apologize
for that, so he brought his zakat to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam. But the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said,
No, I'm not going to accept it later on, after the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam passed away. Sayyidina ubarayallahu said,
I'm not going to accept something rejected by the Prophet
sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam. When Sayyidina Umar became the Khalifa,
Sayyidina Omar said, I would not accept anything rejected by
Rasulullah Sallam and Sayyidina Abu Bakr Yallah Wan and the man
died in the time of Sayyidina, Omar, but not before being
mentioned in the Quran himself and the people like him, wamin, hum
man, I had Allah in 10am in fodley. Then a Saddam, walena,
Coonan, namin, a salain fella met a home in fodley, Becky Ruby, what
a Walla, walla can feel? Colo beam Eli yo me al kauna, who be my
love, Allah. Can we at the moon and among them, among those
hypocrites, again, those who pledged to Allah subhanahu wa, if
Allah subhanahu wa makes us rich, we will be charitable and would be
kind to other people. And when Allah subhanahu wa enriched them,
they turned their backs to Allah subhanahu wa and His Messenger,
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and Allah subhanahu wa changed their
heart, their hearts to be full of ingratitude to Allah subhanaw
taala as the price for their rejection of paying the dues of
Allah subhanahu wa, all of that money, as we mentioned before,
belongs to Allah subhanahu wa, none of it is yours.
Among those hypocrites, some of them said, Oh, didn't Mohammed.
Find other time other than the middle of summer and the hot
weather to go for this far distance, traveling all across the
desert.
Let in Fira. Do not go in in this hot weather. Wait until it gets a
little bit
cooler and then later on, what's happened? What's wrong with three
months from now, five months from now, when the weather is a bit
cooler,
Waka, alat and fearful. Har, so they started inciting other people
against the Prophet. Saw them, don't follow this man. It's it's
too hot in the desert. Are you gonna kill yourself? And Allah
subhanahu wa responds to them. Qulnah, ujahan, namasha to Harvard
if you're worried about it. Let me tell you that the Hellfire is much
more hot than the weather in the desert of Arabia,
and many other
attacks against the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and
against the companions of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam, making fun of some insulting the messenger sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam, some making fun of the Ayat of Allah subhanahu wa
when the ayat would be revealed, they would sneak aside and say,
What is he talking about? Murder, Kala anifa, what is what exactly
does that mean? And they would say, a tohabi Imana, which one of
you increased in his faith based on these ayat that were revealed
to Muhammad, sallAllahu, alayhi wa sallam and Allah subhanahu wa also
exposes all of these words, and when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam confronts them with what they've said, they would say, Oh,
we were just joking. ALAAP, we were just joking and playing. We
didn't really mean it. And Allah subhanahu wa asks them, are you
making fun? Are you playing and joking with the name of Allah
subhanahu wa and His Messenger, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and
the Ayat of Allah subhanahu wa, this is not going to be
acceptable, and ALLAH SubhanA wa Taala did not accept their
repentance or their false repentance and their excuse
the.
Army moved on to towards the book and the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi
wa sallam checks the army checks about his companions. What did
such and such person do? Why don't I see such and such person? Where
is Abu khaitema, where is Abu Dharr? Where is Kai bunni Malik
and so on. The Prophet sai Salam knew his companions, especially
the old ones, one by one. So he started checking on them. Where
are these people and the good ones who, for some reason or another,
were delayed behind the army of the Prophet SAW did their best to
join that army and to capture or to catch up with that army, so
they would come up walking individually or alone in the
desert. When Sayyidina Abu Dharr na told the prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam, my camel did not want to obey me. Each time I tried
to make it move forward, it would, it would move sideways or
backwards. So I threw my luggage off the back of the camel. And I
came walking in the teeth of the desert. And the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam saw him coming from a far distance and said, kun
abutar Be Abu Dharr. And it was Sayyidina Abu Dhabi. Sayyidina Abu
khaitamar RadiAllahu Abu his camel perished, could not carry him all
the distance. So again, he carried his own luggage on his back, and
he came walking to join the army of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam.
And these were examples that were honored in the Quran and honored
in the Sira of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And
Allah subhanahu wa is telling saying that any step that they
made for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa they will find its
reward on the Day of Judgment, when ALLAH SubhanA wa Taala
invites people to donate for his cause. SubhanAllah. Allah subhana
wa Taala is telling us about the deal, about the deal that he has
conducted with the companions of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam from the very beginning of Islam. And that deal is still
available. It did not it never stopped in Allah, mean beyond what
an Ali ha
with his
generosity,
with his absolute and extreme mercy, subhana wa taala, we were
destitute. We were nothing. Allah subhanahu wa created us from
nothing. Allah subhanahu wa gave us hearing, gave us sight, gave us
senses, gave us physical power, and then Allah subhanahu wa gave
us life and gave us wealth.
Everything belongs to Allah subhanahu wa so whenever ALLAH
SubhanA wa Taala should call for it to be given back, no one should
say it's mine. It belongs to Allah subhanahu. It's a temporary trust.
However, Allah subhana wa taala, with his kindness
and generosity, says that Allah subhanahu wa will buy these things
back from the believers.
If I want to buy something from someone, it means that the other
person owns the goods that I'm willing to buy. However, the leg
Subhanallah Allah subhanahu wa owns these lives, owns this
health, owns this wealth, yet he Subhanallah wa Taala is willing to
buy it back when Rasulullah sallam, and we mentioned that
before, when he had bayadullah Aqaba saniyah with the delegation
of the Ansar and hisallallah asked them to take him, sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam, Protect him and let him deliver his message. They
asked and what's the price that we're gonna get for that
Rasulullah sallam said, Al Jannah. And they said, We like that. We're
going to accept that deal. So this is the same deal here that Allah
subhanahu wa is telling us about. Allah subhanahu wa has purchased
from the believers, their lives and their wealth for a very high
price. It's completely disproportionate. This life is
going to expire someday, this wealth is going to be spent or
lost. It can be earned. It can be lost anytime. But the reward that
Allah subhanahu wa is proposing is infinite in its value, Biennale,
Jannah and the Jannah for someone to deserve Jannah, it means that
they have deserved the Mercy of Allah, Subhanahu wa which is even
more valuable. That's the actually the reason.
And
when Abdullahi no Bey died shortly after the Battle of the book, the
head of hypocrisy, the one who has always been fighting the Prophet,
saw them and plotting against the Prophet saw them. The Prophet,
sallAllahu sallam, went to attend his funeral because his son was a
good believer, a good companion. And his daughter was a good
believer and a good companion. The Prophet sallallahu, Sallam went to
attend his funeral Sayyidina Umar, who asked him, How come? How come?
You're gonna pray on this man? Remember what he did? Remember
what he said. Remember on such and such day, what did he do in what
did he do in alhamdah? What did he do in this and that? And the
prophesied Salam told Sayyidina Omar. Ya Omar, I know what he did.
Stop
and Sayyidina Omar told the prophet saw ya Rasulullah didn't
Allah subhanahu wa say, if you ask for forgiveness for them, 70 times
Allah subhanaw taala would not forgive them. Rasulullah sallam
said, if I knew that maybe Allah subhanahu wa would forgive them, I
would ask for forgiveness for them more than 70 times until the ayat
were revealed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, do
not ask Allah subhanahu wa to forgive these hypocrites. Do not
attend their funerals.
It is amazing that Abdullah ibn uwayi, when he was dying, he asked
for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to come and be next to
him when he dies. And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
responded, hoping that this man on his deathbed would repent and ask
Allah subhanahu wa forgiveness. So Abdullah ibn abay, when the
Prophet saw them, was standing by his head, rasulallah told him, I
told him, I told you before, do not seek the alliance of Bani
Israel, who are fighting us against the Muslims. So with his
arrogance, he told the Prophet, sallAllahu sallam, well as
declared enmity against them, and he didn't help him. He's talking
about the great companion of the of the Prophet saw them who had
passed away earlier, and
then he looked at the Prophet sai Lam and said, I want this shirt
that you're wearing. I want to be shrouded in it when I die.
So the Prophet saw them was wearing two shirts, two commis on
top of each other. His Allah took the upper one and gave it to him.
He said, No, no, no, no, I want the one next to your skin, the one
touching your skin. That's the one that I want to be shrouded in. And
Rasulullah isallah gave him the shirt that he Salma la asallam was
wearing next to his skin SallAllahu alaihi salam later on,
when he was asked Salma La Salle, why did you do that? He said,
Well,
on the day of bed after the Battle of Badr, when my Uncle Al Abbas
was a prisoner of war
from the army of Quraysh, the army of the non believers. He was not
wearing a proper shirt, and it was Abdullah ibn ubayy Who gave him a
shirt to cover his body, so I do not want him to have a hand on me.
Today, I'm paying his him back. I'm paying him with my own shirt
so that he wouldn't have any
any virtue on me sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,
by the end of Surat a Toba, when Allah subhanahu wa exposed all the
hypocrites and exposed their different kinds of hypocrisy and
the different words and the different behaviors and so on, and
told the prophet sallallahu alayhi salallam, not to seek forgiveness
for these hypocrites. Allah subhanahu wa after the Prophet SAW
came back safely to Al Madin al munawwah, and by the way, in the
Battle of Tabuk, there was no fighting. There was no
confrontation the Roman army, when they saw the army of the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam coming, and they knew that they
mean business. They retreated back. So there was no fighting in
this battle, after all. And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam came back safely with his army to Almaty al Munawwara. It
was a trip of almost more, a little bit more than two months, a
boot camp for all the new Muslims who came from all over Arabia to
join the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on this blessed trip and
to see physical miracles of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam that Allah subhanho wa Taala performed on his hands on
the way back. Still the hypocrites had their hopes. So they plotted
to kill the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. On the way back,
there was a narrow strait between the mountains and the valley. Next
to it, the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam told his
companions, take the valley. Take the logger out through the valley.
I'm gonna take the shortcut through the mountain on.
Very narrow passage. So the hypocrites sent a delegation to
try to push the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam off the mountain,
or to scare his right so that it would run and it would fall from
the mountain, and the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam would
die. The Prophet saw him, had two companions with him, one in front
of him, Sayyidina, RadiAllahu, anhu, and one behind him, Sayyid
nahuda, if Ibn RadiAllahu, Anhu and Allah subhanahu wa informed
rasulallah about this plot. These people came at night, under the
darkness of the night, and they tried to scare the bride of the
Prophet sallallahu, Sallam Rasulullah. Recognized them one by
one, although they were in disguise, and later on, the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam confided in Sayyidina
hudaydahl aims of all of these individuals. That's why Sayyidina
hudayfah was the secret keeper of the Prophet SAW with that list of
hypocrites that we talked about before, when they came back to Al
Madin al munawwah. Now the people who stayed behind without any
excuse, they came seeking excuse from the Prophet, sallAllahu,
sallam, Oh, we did not have this, or we did not have that, or we
could not come, or it was we had something to take care of, and so
on. And Rasulullah Sallam accepted all of their excuses. More than 80
men. Rasulullah sallam said, Okay, may Allah subhanaw taala forgive
you. And Allah subhanahu wa tells the Prophet salallahu Alam
ka Lima Abu Talaq. May Allah subhanahu wa have clemency on you.
Why did you accept their false excuses if they claim or they
think they're gonna deceive Rasulullah, Sallam or they can
deceive Allah subhanahu wa, shame on them. Allah subhanahu wa knows
what's in their hearts, and Allah subhanahu wa will not forgive
their treason. Compare that to other companions of the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, a group of companions, sincere
companions, known as Al baqaun, these. This was a group of poor
companions who wanted to join the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam on that expedition. But again, the condition that the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had put, you have to have a
strong bride to come with us. And they were destitute. They did not
have any rights. They came to the Prophet saw them. The leader was
Sayyidina Abu Musala, Sharia law, Abdullah ibn Kais, the beautiful
man from Al Yemen, who came with a group of these people asking the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to provide them with
rights. And the Prophet sallallahu Sallam did not have any extra
rights to provide them. So they went back with shedding tears
while, you know TAFI dominatam Ahaz and Allah AJ, you do my own
Kippur, they were shedding tears that they do not have anything to
spend and therefore they could not join that expedition of the
Prophet saw them, until some great companions, like Sayyidina ut man,
Sayyidina Abdul Rahman nav gave them additional rights so that
they can join the effort of the Prophet, sallAllahu alayhi Salat.
But these 80 people, they had the rights. They had their money, they
had good health, and for no reason, just out of the meanness
of their character, they refused to follow the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa
sallam. And Allah subhanahu wa told the prophet, saw, do not
accept their excuses. You should not have accepted their excuses
because Allah, because all of these are false excuses, and Allah
subhanahu wa knows that, and Allah subhanahu wa hold them accountable
for these lies.
But there was a group of companions, three companions who
were actually did not follow the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam. They had the proper means to follow the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam, but for some reason, they didn't end up
following him. Salma La Salle again, if you read in the books of
of Hadith, you're gonna find the beautiful log hadith of Sayyidina
kabuk nimali called ya allah Anu, who was one of these three
individuals who gives the detailed description that at that time he
had an abundance of wealth of health. He had two wives, he had a
two nice gardens, he had a ride. He had everything. He had no
excuse. And he used to go to the market every day and see people
getting ready for that expedition. And you say, I can do that
anytime. I have everything ready. It's not gonna take me that long.
And when the army of the Prophet saw him left Al Madinah on their
way to Tabuk. He said, I can join them quickly. My ride is very
quick until they were too far. And he found out, Oh, it's too late
now I cannot join them. And he stayed back in that Medina,
Murata. He said, I was looking around me. I could see only people
who had really had excuses, like.
Injuries or poverty or handicaps or clear hypocrites. Only two
other individuals that I knew were good companions. I found them in
the same situation as I was when the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa
sallam came back to Al Maiden and Munawwara, and those hypocrites
came seeking excuses. Sayyidina qabd Malik knew that now it's time
to face Rasulullah. What am I going to do? Am I going to lie to
him, or am I going to tell him the truth that I did not have any
excuse? So he came to the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam. And
the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam was smiling at him, not the
smile of someone who is satisfied, but the smile of someone who is
angry.
And he sat in front of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam and
said, Ya rasulallah, you know that I am a man who is very good in
arguing, and if I were to argue, I could find a way to satisfy you.
But honestly, I had no excuse. I cannot find any excuse. Rasulullah
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam looked at him and said, Ahmed faqat, now
this is someone who's telling the truth, which means all of the
other 80 were liars, and his Allah AJ knew that they were liars.
And Sayyidina Kath asked, Were there any other people like
myself? He was informed about two other companions, two other good
companions of the prophesied Salam. Where do it is better? So
he said, well, at least I'm not the only one. And Rasulullah told
his companions not to talk to these three people. And that
lasted for more than 40 days, no one talking to them, no one
responding to them, no one saluting them. And even when they
would say salaam alaikum Ya Rasulullah, they wouldn't know
whether hisallah Ali asallam responded to them or not. After a
while, when everyone boycotted them, they started taking a step
back and they stopped coming to the masjid of the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. So after 50 days, kabib ni Malik
Sayyidina, kabib Malik Ali Allahu Anhu was narrating the Hadith, and
he says that I was praying Fajr on top of on the roof of my Masjid of
my house,
when I heard the voice coming from the distance. Ya kabab, numeric,
abshir. Abshir, here are the good news. Oh kabina Medic, and he
says, from the darkness, from it's, it was almost dawn, I could
see the shade of a rider coming from the masjid toward me, and the
rider came and told me, abshir Allah, Subhanahu wa has forgiven
you after 50 days of agony and torment because of his
disobedience of the Prophet. Saw he said, I took off my shirt,
which was the only shirt that I had, and I gave it as a gift to
this rider who came with the good news, who was Sayyidina suvail
awamuldi Allahu anhu, the one who shouted from the masjid with the
good news was Sayyidina, Abu Bakr RadiAllahu, Anhu. He rushed to
Rasulullah Sallam and found
rasulallah smiling, but this time the smile of relief, and he said,
rasulallah, when he smiled, his face would shine like a piece of
the moon. So I asked rasulallah, ya rasulallah, I mean Indi lahim,
indic, is it from Allah subhanahu wa, that forgiveness, or from you?
And rasulallah said, it is from Allah subhanahu wa, this is the
best day that passed on you since you were born. And Sayyidina, Abu
Malik Allahu Akbar told Rasulullah, I repent to Allah
subhanahu wa the thing that saved me from being grouped with these
80 people is that I told the truth, and I promise you, for as
long as I live, I'm not gonna tell lie. I'm always gonna tell the
truth. And Allah subhanahu wa reveals the ayah in this man and
his two companions while selected in Latina fully for hatte Eva
katali Will hard to be Marah hogat, ODOT Ali and fusum WADA no
Aleman, jam Allah mil Jamin. Allah He la Ilahi to Mata Bala him, the
atubu in Allah. Rahim, yeah, you. Hala, Dinah, itaku, laha, Waku,
numa Sadat in Allah. Subhana wa Taala is telling us about these
three people who were left behind in the ruling of Allah. Subhana wa
taala, he did not group them with the hypocrites or accept their
excuses. They were kept set aside for these 50 days, and then the
repentance came from ALLAH SubhanA wa Taala and Allah subhanahu wa is
describing their agony for these 50 days when they felt there's no
refuge.
From Allah subhanahu wa, except with Allah subhanahu wa, and Allah
subhanahu wa has accepted their repentance. And then Allah subhana
wa Taala in a general statement, telling the believers, O you who
believe, fear Allah subhanahu wa and be with the truth tellers. Be
with the honest, the sincere,
and then Allah subhana wa taala, by the end of the Surat, gives us
very beautiful Ayat talking about Rasulullah,
minham, fusikum, Aziz una Alaihi, mahanito, Hari suna Alaikum, Bini
na raufun, Rahim, faint awe. Faul has be Allahu, alaihi tawa cult
Wahoo Abu Asmaa, ALLAH SubhanA, wa Taala is reminding us about his
bounty upon us of sending the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi, salam,
Daka Rasulullah.
And in another narration, mean and fasiq in another recitation, Allah
subhanaw taala sent us a Prophet from among ourselves, a human like
us, sallAllahu,
alayhi, wa sallam, as he is, hurts him so much that you are so
stubborn and you turn your backs to Allah subhanaw Taal Hari
sunalaikum is so careful for you. Bill mumini, Nara ufun, Rahim is
so Clement. He's so merciful. He's so kind to the believers.
If now they turn their backs they do not want to follow this
beautiful Rasulullah
say your refuge is to say has to be Allah sufficient for me is
Allah subhanahu wa. There's no Lord but ALLAH SubhanA wa taala,
alayhita wakil, I rely on Allah subhanahu wa is the great Lord of
the great throne. Subhan Allah, this surah, again, very strong.
Surah, very powerful. Surah, very beautiful. Surah talking about
feelings to talking about things that people thought they were
hiding, but Allah subhanahu chose to expose them and to warn
everyone not to behave like that. We ask Allah subhanahu wa to make
us among a solid being, to make us among the sincere, the honest, the
truthful ones. And we ask Allah subhana wa Taala to grant us the
love of Allah subhanahu wa and the love of his messenger, sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam, who cares
about us. And we ask Allah subhana wa Taala always to help us
remember. Has be Allah La ilaha, Illa Walid, await inshallah. We're
going to resume our journey tomorrow. Illa with Surat Yunus
and part of Surat wood, so until tomorrow Inshallah, salaam
alaikum, warahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
