time to be sad, when to smile, when to love, when to do everything in its proper time and place. And
so the characteristic that I want to speak about today, is a characteristic that many of us as
Muslims have lost, we are unable to express this characteristic. When able to express this emotion.
You rarely see it amongst the Muslims. But often when someone does express this emotion, people look
		

			down and frown upon them. That emotion, that characteristic of the Prophet of Allah sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam would often employ, and he would often encourage us as His own much employee, and
that is crying, the crying of the Prophet of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And what a beautiful
characteristic that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, even though all of his sins
have been forgiven, past, present and future, he would still cry, and he would cry openly, not
alone. In the in his house, when no one could see him. He would often quite openly so that he could
witness his crying and take him as an example. How often have we in our lives, let alone every day
		

			in our whole lives, how often have required, how many times have required, and the crying that I'm
talking about here today? Is not when you cry because your football team lost a match, or because
they didn't win the season, or because you will reading a book which had a sad ending, or a TV
program when someone dies, or anything like this. The crying that I am speaking about, is the crying
of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, when he would cry out of the fear of Allah subhanho wa
Taala when he would cry, because a loved one had died. He would cry, because out of fear for his own
love for his nation. He would cry because of the Hellfire and his terrible punishment. This is the
		

			crying that I am speaking about here today. How often do we cry in our prayers? How often do we cry
when we recite the Quran? When was the last time you quiet out of the fear of Allah? And we have
since like the mountaintops, since we're more vast than the oceans, yet we rarely cry. And the
Prophet of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would encourage us to cry, and he would cry and his
companions would cry. Or often you will even hear and see and witness that even when the Imam cries
in his prayer, or someone cries in their prayer, that people will look at him and will say, Why does
he cry so much in his prayer? He prolongs the prayer because he's crying so much, why doesn't he
		

			just speed up? Why cry all the time, all he does is quite quite quiet. And we consider this an
emotion especially amongst the men that we
		

			can't have that we can't show. Crying is a sign of weakness so we can show it. But the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the most courageous man, the strongest of men, the best of men, the
most perfect and his character would often cry sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and it is an attribute
and a characteristic that Allah azzawajal encourages in the Quran. It is not just something which we
find in the Sunnah. But Allah azza wa jal encourages it in the Quran. And he says about the
believing slaves, the believing men and women, that from the attributes and the characteristics is
that they cry, he says, Subhana Allah in Surah Surah.

wife, their own children, each person will be there worried about themselves. And that day when the
sun will come so close to them, that it is only a mile from their heads, and its heat will be so
immense, that the people will be drowning in their sweat. On that day, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi
		

			wa sallam informed us about seven types of people, seven categories that will be afforded the shade
of Allah on the day that there will be no other shade than his shade. So baktun you will know whom

of Allah, the shade of the throne of Allah on the day they will find no other shape, and form

soiled with his tears wet from his playing, how much he must have played for the earth around him,
the ground around him to be wet, for the tears to come down, and to actually make the ground wet.

from the signs of Allah. So seek forgiveness from him pray and recite the Quran during these times.
How often when we hear of the calamities that strike around us all over the world, how often do we
cry that Allah azzawajal has saved us, but Allah azza wa jal has showered us with this mercy that
Allah subhanho wa Taala has shown forgiveness to us. What Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would
cry, he would cry him and giving back to Allah, calling others to the way of Allah calling them to
this religion because he wanted good for them. He wanted guidance for them. He would quiet this. And
		

			an example of this is when he came to his uncle Abu Talib, and Abu Talib was not a Muslim. And the
people of Croatia said to Abu Talib, take your nephew away from us. stop him from what he is
preaching. Because if you don't stop him, then we will take matters into our own hands. So Abu Talib
said to his nephew, the sun Allah Allah He will sell them stop what you are doing. Stop saying what
you are saying or your people will come and they will attack you. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam began to cry, thinking that his uncle had forsaken him saying that By Allah, if they were
to place the sun in my right hand and the moon in my left hand, then I will not stop from that which
		

			I am doing. I will continue to give Dawa I will continue to call to the way of Allah. He sallallahu

			cry. We are unable to cry when we hear the recitation of the Quran. And Allah azza wa jal mentions
that those who don't cry when they hear the recitation of Allah, their hearts are harder than rocks,
harder than rocks because even rocks tremble from the fear of Allah subhanho wa Taala and mountains
going to just because of the fear of Allah subhanho wa Taala from that which will help us to cry
from these ahaadeeth which I have mentioned to you from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is
that a person seclude themselves, when they are away from everyone else, from any eyes or any is for
many witnesses, and they remember Allah subhana wa tada and they remember the sins that they have
		

			committed, and the vast amount that they are. And you remember the punishment of the Fire. And what
is waiting for you if you repent to Allah from the rewards of Paradise, and this will help you if
you do it, often basis that Allah azzawajal will help you in sha Allah to be able to shed tears. And
remember that the shedding tears from Allah will give you great will give you shade on the day of
judgment on Yama, Yama in sha Allah from that which will assist you is that you ponder and reflect
over the recitation of the Quran, but simply to just recite it, not simply to just look over the
meanings and skim over them, but to actually ponder and reflect over the verses of Allah to stop and
		

			to ponder and contemplate what Allah azza wa jal is telling us. This will bring tears to your eyes.
From that which will bring tears to your eyes is that you hold yourself to account as Ramana de
