Today, inshallah, I'll continue reciting parts of the
book of Ishma'il Muhammadiyah by Imam al
-Tirmidhi.
I can't remember the number of hadiths I
was going to recite for you tonight.
Yep, so the chapter is Baab, Ma Ja
'a Fi Sifati Fakihati Rasoolillahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
The chapter of the description of the fruits
the Prophet Alaihi Salatu Wasallam would eat.
And there's a nice hadith, two hadiths that
I'll narrate to you that inshallah you'll enjoy.
Qala hadathana Qutaybat ibn Sa'id an Malik
ibn Anasin.
Qala hadathana Ishaq ibn Musa.
Qala hadathana Ma'nun.
So whenever people saw the first blossoming of
fruits, the ripening of any fruits of any
sort, they brought that first ripened to the
Prophet Alaihi Salatu Wasallam.
They brought it to him.
Qala fa-itha akhadahu Rasoolillahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
So when the Prophet Alaihi Salatu Wasallam took
it from the person who brought it to
them.
Qala Allahumma barik lana fi thimarina wa barik
lana fi madinatina wa barik lana fi sa
'ina wa fi muddina.
He said, O Allah, grant us barakah in
our fruits, grant us barakah in our city,
grant us barakah in all that which we
weigh in buying and in selling.
Allahumma inna Ibrahima abduka wa khaliluka wa nabiyuka
wa inni abduka wa nabiyuka wa innahu da
'aka li makkata wa inni adu'uka lil
madina bimithli ma da'aka bihi li makkata
wa mithlihi ma'a.
He said, O Allah, indeed Ibrahim is your
Prophet and your servant and he is your
khalil, your closest companion.
And indeed I am your servant and your
messenger.
And indeed he has made dua for Mecca.
Ibrahim alayhi salamu rabbu arzuqah lahu minath thamarati
man aamana minhum billahi wal yawm al aakhiri.
He made this long dua for fruition and
prosperity of Mecca.
He said, and I am making dua to
you for Medina.
Exactly as what Ibrahim asked you for Mecca
and more.
Qala thumma yad'u asghara waleedin yaraahu fa
yu'teehi thalika thamar.
And then the Prophet alayhi salam would look
for the youngest child in that gathering and
he would give him the first fruit, the
first date or the first fruit to eat
of that mawsim, of that season, salallahu alayhi
wa sallam ajma'een.
The second hadith that I am going to
narrate to you.
There is some discussion on the authenticity of
this hadith.
It is hasan because the meaning is solidified
in other narrations.
Muhammad ibn Hameed al-Razi said, Ibrahim ibn
al-Mukhtari said, Muhammad ibn Ishaq said, Abu
Ubaidah ibn Muhammad ibn Ammar ibn Yasir said,
Rubai'i bint Mu'awwid ibn Afra'a
said, Mu'adh ibn Afra'a sent me
to convince me of a reward from the
Qithaa of Zughb.
And the Prophet alayhi salam loved the Qithaa.
She said, Rubai'i bint Mu'awwid, she
said, Mu'adh ibn Afra'a, who is
basically her uncle, he sent me with qinaa.
Al-qinaa al-tabaq, a platter or a
plate.
Within that platter or plate there is rutab,
the moist dates.
Al-qithaa is similar to cucumbers, a type
of cucumber.
Zughb is a type of cucumber that has,
when you have a peach, there is that
fuzziness.
So qithaa is like a cucumber that has
a little bit of fuzziness on top.
The Prophet alayhi salam loved that vegetable.
He loved al-qithaa and rutab.
So she brought him.
He loved that food.
The Prophet alayhi salam, when he brought him
the qithaa and the rutab, he took it
alayhi salam, he was happy with it.
And there had been wealth that had come
to him alayhi salam from Bahrain.
And there was like jewelry.
He took a big handful.
And he gave it to me, salallahu alayhi
wa sallam ajma'im.
And the Prophet alayhi salam liked watermelon.
He liked watermelon with rutab.
This was the mixture he made alayhi salam.
And the sahaba will point out the different
things that he enjoyed.
But for sure dates was amongst them.
And watermelon was amongst them as well.
And he would eat alayhi salam anything that
was presented to him.
And he would share it with those around
him.
I hope that was a benefit to you.
Imam al-Tirmidhi narrates in his Jamia in
a correct way.
He said about Abu Hurayt alayhi salam.
He said, when people saw the first fruit
that they brought to the Prophet alayhi salam,
when the Prophet took it, he said, O
Allah, bless us in our fruits.
And bless us in our Madinah.
And bless us in our tray.
And in our mud.
O Allah, Ibrahim is your servant, your friend
and your Prophet.
And I am your servant and your Prophet.
And he invited you to Makkah.
And I invite you to Madinah as you
invited him to Makkah.
And like him and like him with him.
He said, then he invites the youngest son
he sees.
And he gives him that gift.
