My brothers and my sisters,
Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, I
want to say to every single one of
you guys for attending.
I know what a lot of university students
are up to. I know how difficult it
is to hold on to your religion
especially on university campus
even more so if you live on campus.
So the fact that every single one of
you guys came, it really really shows that
there is a lot of good in every
single one of you guys. May Allah
increase you guys in goodness. Ameel.
Our lecture today as you guys are aware
is about Surat Yusuf,
my favorite chapter of the Quran.
If you ask me why is Surat Youssef
your favorite chapter in the Quran? I would
tell you brothers and sisters,
you take a stroll
through the chapter of Yousef alaihis salatu wa
sallam,
and you will find that he went through
so many difficulties,
hardships,
trials and tribulations.
It is a chapter
that just about every single individual who walks
on the face of this earth can relate
to.
Whether you are a father, a mother,
someone who has become extremely infatuated,
lovesick,
Someone who is a young man, a teenager.
Someone who my brothers and my sisters has
been unjustly thrown into prison.
Someone who feels like there is no light
at the end of a tunnel.
Every individual that you could think of
can relate to this story brothers and sisters
of Yusuf alaihis salatu was salam.
Yusuf was a prophet, the son of a
prophet Yaqub alaihis salatu was salam.
Also my brothers and my sisters,
when you look at the stories of the
different prophets
and how Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala relieve them
of the difficulties and hardships
and save them from the enemies.
You look at Musa Alaihi Wasallam.
How did Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala save him
and also those who believed in him? Can
anyone tell me? And by the way guys,
some of you guys are aware. I tried
to keep it as interactive as possible.
I'm going to be pulling people out of
the crowd. So be ready. Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala. How did Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala save
Musa, Moses, and also those who believed in
him? Can anyone tell me?
Go. Yeah.
Saved them by way of miracle.
You look at prophet Ibrahim alaihisattu wasalam, when
he was thrown into the fire.
What did Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala do to
this fire?
Allah
made this fire that he was thrown in
a p a place of peace and coolness.
Likewise, brothers and sisters, you look at prophet
Muhammad salallahu alaihi wa sallam. He was granted
different miracles, right? One of the miracles was
the splitting of
the moon.
Likewise in some of the battles
Allah Azzawajal,
he sent angels to support and aid those
who were fighting with the Kuffar.
You may ask yourself the question why am
I mentioning all of these,
incidents that happened with the different prophets?
Yusuf alaihisattu was was was thrown into prison,
right?
He was thrown into prison unjustly before he
was exonerated
of these false allegations that were spread about
him.
Did Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala cause
this prison to split into half so he
could escape guys? Is that what happened?
No. What happened?
Why didn't Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala split this
prison into half? Just like Allah caused
the seed to split for
Prophet Moses and his people.
Allah could have done that, right?
However,
this brings me to the point guys when
you look at the chapter of Yusuf.
There is no mention of miracles.
There is no mention of him
being saved
by way of a miracle. SubhanAllah.
Perhaps brothers and sisters, so this incident
or the different occurrences that happen with Yusuf
Alisa to Asam can remain relatable to every
single one of us.
Sometimes we open up the Quran and we
go through some
of the chapters
that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala sent down upon
Prophet Muhammad salallahu alaihi wa sallam. And we
think to ourselves, this is not maybe something
that I could relate to. It's a little
bit out of touch with what I'm going
through. However, you look at what youse have
went through brothers and sisters,
it honestly is something that every single one
of us can resonate with.
Can relate to.
Right?
Surat Youssef came down upon who guys?
Who did it come down upon?
Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. Prophet Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
Indeed, O Muhammad, we will relate this story
to you. Why though?
Why did Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala specifically say
that this is a story that we are
relating specifically to you, O Muhammad.
Brothers and sisters,
the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was the most
honorable person to ever walk on the face
of this earth.
There was no one more honorable than him,
and there never will be.
Having said all of that, the Prophet Muhammad
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
went through a lot of hardships and difficulties.
Not only was he verbally abused, he was
also physically abused.
Not just by anyone,
but rather by his own family members, and
he can hurt even more.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us what he
was going
through. Even though he was the most honorable
person, he still had human emotions. As Allah
tells us,
We know that which they keep saying about
you, O Muhammad, is causing you a lot
of pain
in your chest.
It's causing you to feel very hurt.
And then Allah will tell him, fasab bihamdulirabbi,
glorify your Lord and be from the Sajideen.
Right? Instructing him how he could relieve
himself of these difficulties and hardships that he
was going through. So the messenger of Allah,
Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam, was in need of inspiration, guys.
He was in need of inspiration.
He was in need of that which is
going to make him feel better.
You might come to me and say, Muhammad,
I'm going through all of these hardships and
difficulties. And then I turn around to you
and I say, listen bro. I went through
everything you're going through and even worse.
And I still was able to overcome it.
There is life at the end of the
tunnel. How would you feel? You would feel
better, right?
Because now you can relate to someone who
has gone through that which is similar.
And eventually, he overcame some of these hardships
and difficulties.
Especially around now, I've got quite a few
brothers messaging me saying that
they applied
for the
University of Medina.
Right? Approximately over 500,000
applicants they have every year and only 3,000
get accepted.
Only 3,000.
Brothers are messaging me saying, oh, you know
how demotivated
they feel, how down they are. Right? Their
morale has gone down. I've applied. I never
got accepted.
Is there really another opportunity for me? Is
it a possibility?
And then I tell them, listen brother,
I applied 6 years in a row, and
every single time I got rejected.
I never got in. Imagine every single year.
And subhanallah, the 7th time around, I didn't
even apply, I ended up getting in somehow.
When
I tell them that they're like, woah. Right?
So there is hope for me.
There's still a possibility of me being accepted.
So why am I mentioning all of this
my brothers and my sisters? Right? In Surat
Yusuf, we have
stories,
incidents that we could all relate to. We
just need to open up the book of
Allah
It would help us with the difficulties and
hardships, the trials and the tribulations
that many of us are facing guys.
Right?
You look at SubhanAllah
at today's day and age.
What
mankind is facing is not something that you
could maybe put a number on.
The amount of problems and hardships,
depression rates have gone up through the roof
guys.
People are looking for different ways to make
themselves feel better.
We've tried different avenues.
Doesn't seem to be happening.
The Quran brothers and sisters is the best
of cures.
Right?
As
Allah tells us. It is a cure for
what is in the hearts.
So take inspiration from it guys. And this
is what we're hoping to establish
in this university tour, wanting to connect the
people to the best of speeches, the speech
of Allah azza wa jal. And I picked
Surat Yousaf specifically
because everyone here as a university student can
relate to it as we all come to
know inshallah.
So very very quickly I want to
quickly make mention of some of the main
talking points of Suraj Yusuf. So you have
an idea of what happened
through this chapter. So let's take a very
quick stroll
through Suraj Yusuf. It starts off with a
dream.
It starts off with a dream that Yusuf
alaihis salatu wa sallam had.
He saw 11 stars, the sun and the
moon all prostrating to him.
His father straightaway says, do not relate his
dream to your brothers,
as they will plot against you.
This dream brothers and sisters is a blessing
because
it holds
indication that he's going to become a prophet
of God.
And he will be able to interpret dreams.
This is a blessing, right? This is indeed
good news that is coming his way SubhanAllah.
And of course now, right? He has brothers,
and he's going to become someone who it
would have to look up to. And they
may really struggle with that. So the father,
look how wise he was. Don't tell this
blessing of yours to your brothers. Because you
don't tell your blessings to every individual that
you come across guys, as we will inshallah
touch on a little bit later.
Yaqub, the father, he had 2 wives.
One of the wives gave birth to Yusuf
and Ben Yamin, Benjamin.
The other gave wife to
so many other of his sons.
They began to notice that Yusuf alaihi salatu
wa salam
was more beloved to their father.
Their father Yaqob was more inclined towards him.
And that really really got to them guys.
It made them
rage.
SubhanAllah.
That really really irritated them.
So they began to conspire.
They began to plot. They wanted to get
rid of him once and for all. 1
of the brother said, kill him.
And then after,
After that we will all become righteous people.
And I really want to speak about this
thought process
of, you have your whole life ahead of
you.
Just one night. Especially on freshers week, right?
Shaitaan's whispering,
all the clubs have been swung open. Shaitaan
is saying, Brother,
just one night, go check it out. You
have your whole life ahead of you, you'll
become righteous.
Well come on to that inshallah ta'ala.
After that my brothers and my sisters fast
forward, they approached their father and they request
from him
to take Yusuf alaihis salatu wa salam,
so they could all go and play together.
Yaqub was very very reluctant. He used to
keep him very close. Eventually, he gave in.
Revelation came down instructing Yaqub,
allow them to take him.
You may ask yourself the question, isn't God
all knowing?
Why would He allow
this to happen?
Why would Allah instruct Yaqub to allow them
to take him, even though they want to
get rid of him?
Allah knows, right? That he's going to go
through a lot of trouble. Having to deal
with his most beloved son being taken away
from him. We hear this all the time,
right? Especially from atheist. There's really a God.
Why is all this evil taking place? Sahih.
Well, come on to inshallah wu ta'ala.
Why did
Allah allow it to take place? Why in
fact did he send on revelation instructing him
to do so? We'll come on to that.
They get rid of him and of course
now they need an excuse right?
They come back to their father in the
evening and they say oh father we went
to play. We left him with our stuff.
A wolf came
and ate him.
Of course they need evidence. They were like,
here's his garment,
and the garment wasn't ripped or torn. I
don't think there's a wolf. Right? I was
gonna tell you before he, takes your life,
take off your garment, right? So they had
a garment and they put fake blood on
there. They were like, here father.
As Allah tells
us. Straight away Yaqub knew that this was
what a tale that they made up and
he said,
beautiful patience.
This statement is very very important later on
because
he says this twice.
The first time he says it after losing
his most beloved son Yusuf alaihis salatu wasalam.
He says beautiful patience.
Right? The aid of Allah Azzawajal is sought
in that which you guys are describing.
Hold on to this statement guys. It's very
very important. Because later on, when he loses
his 2nd child, Banyamin.
And not just the second, the third doesn't
come home. Now there are 3 of his
children that have gone missing.
He also says beautiful patience for Sabrul Janeel.
But he says something else.
Perhaps now,
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will bring them all
back to me.
And this is my favorite
benefit
of Surat Yousef, guys.
First he said,
beautiful patients.
Right? Allah's aid is taught in that which
he described. And then second time around, he
says perhaps now all of them are going
to come back to me. Think to yourself,
SubhanAllah, why would he say that? When things
are only getting more and more worse. Will
come on to that
inshallah. He's thrown into the
deep dark well brothers and sisters.
They got rid of him, right?
This young man,
right? In the middle of nowhere.
There's no help in sight.
After some time some travelers that are passing
by
they find
Yusuf alaihis salatu wa salam and they end
up selling him for a very cheap price.
It's a difficulty. It's a trial that he's
going through. We are going through difficulties and
trials, right? It might be a good idea
to compare
the darkness and the doom and gloom that
we feel
with what Yusuf alaihi wasalam was going through.
And then right after that, subhanAllah,
when he sold, guess who he sold to?
He sold to the king and his wife.
And then all of a sudden he finds
himself being brought up,
cultivated and nurtured in one of the most
luxurious places on earth, and that is the
palace, guys.
Darkness,
difficulty, hardship, right? And then all of a
sudden it's ease.
SubhanAllah.
That's the life of a believer guys.
As he's serving
his master,
and she's a female, right? Allah
refers to her as
the wife of Al Aziz.
Happens to be alone with her serving
This lady
of course brothers and sisters also she was
a very attractive lady.
She was a very attractive lady.
Normally the king,
he will pick the creme of the creme,
right?
As his partner or as his wife.
And also Yusuf alaihi salatu wa salam.
For those who don't know, right? He was
granted
half the beauty of mankind.
He was extremely handsome.
So where's the other half? The other half
was distributed,
but the rest of mankind I can masha
Allah. See a good share here.
What happened?
Just when I wanted to say something good.
What happened to it?
There's a shade line in the room there.
So as I was saying my brothers and
my sisters, you can see that there is
a good share of the other half here
in this room. You can see a lot
of glowing faces, Allah Mubarak.
So you have Yusuf alaihis salatu wa sallam,
who was granted half the beauty of mankind.
She's alone with him, and guess what she
says?
After shutting
all of the doors that leads you to
her chamber.
Hey Telek, let's get it on.
She told him to take off his clothes.
She wanted to commit a Zina with him.
Being alone with the opposite agenda my brothers
and my sisters,
Is something that we must stand over,
And also, just about every university I go
today ask me, right? Can men and women
just be friends?
We have pure intentions.
Just innocently, we sit around.
We'll come on to all of that
As she tried it on her servant,
he began to run, brothers and sisters. But
this is after he sought refuge in Allah,
azza wa jal.
Later on, brothers and sisters, he began to
spread
around the city,
that this woman of high status
tried it on her servant.
SubhanAllah,
began to spread.
The women of the city, they began to
bicker and gossip
as they do.
Right?
So she got extremely irritated
and she said, I must prove to them
why I did so. So she invited them
all over, she put them all in a
room, and she gave them knives.
She gave them knives,
and then she instructed Youssef to enter upon
them.
As soon as he entered upon them my
brothers and my sisters, they were blown away
with how handsome he is. And they said,
This is not a human being.
He is indeed
a noble angel, subhanAllah.
Right? And as they were so blown away
by his handsomeness and whatever have you, they
were what? Cutting themselves.
Not even realizing that they're cutting themselves because
of what?
This
beauty that they became so focused on SubhanAllah.
And then she said, ah, now you realize
why, right?
If he doesn't do what I'm telling him,
meaning
Zina,
he will be thrown into prison.
And that's exactly what ended up happening. Yusuf
alaihis salatu wa sallam when he realized that
they were all trying
to commit
that which is displeasing to Allah azza wa
ji with him.
He said
Being imprisoned and more beloved to me than
I wish they are calling me to.
And he was thrown into prison subhanallah unjustly.
In prison, he meets
2 individuals
and they both need a dream to be
interpreted.
They are both released before him,
SubhanAllah.
Sometimes a brother may say, Allah I am
more righteous
than so and so. Why is it that
he always gets it first?
Right? I read more Quran than him,
I pray at night, I fast in the
day, but he's getting more than me.
One may even go as far as saying
why always me? Guys remember Mario Bello tell
you, right?
Why always me?
They were both released before Yusuf Alaihi Salam.
Allahu Akbar.
Why?
Why did that happen? We'll come on to
that Insha Allahu Ta'ala, we'll get some time.
After being exonerated of his crimes
and the reality came out, right? So he
managed to win back his reputation.
He asked to become the Chan Salah
of Egypt
which he was granted. You guys heard of
Rishi Sunak?
He's been a chancellor and then now you
have some guy called
Hunt.
And that's the name? Jeremy Hunt. Jeremy Hunt.
Just every every day we hear on the
news that
the chancellor is being changed, the prime minister
is being changed. May Allah help us here
in this country.
I think it was now, right? Was there
now that happened? 130. 130.
It becomes a chancellor my brothers and my
sisters
and a famine
hits
Egypt and also the surrounding areas places like
Palestine.
And his brothers who threw him in that
well, right,
they live in Palestine.
Those who were in need would come and
pay a visit to
the Palace in order to ask for charities.
So SubhanAllah. Look how fair Allah is right?
Those brothers
who use their hands to throw him in
the well,
they used them very hands now to say,
Please help us. And they stretched out their
hands. We are in need of your charities.
Please help us.
Look how fair our lives are, Ojilis.
I have a principle that oppression that we
cause will come back to haunt us
sooner or later.
Right? And you will be humbled.
Right? You will be humbled.
Look how Allah Azzawajal humbled them. The same
hands that he used to oppress him were
the same hands
that asked for help.
And I've seen this happen
with my own eyes. When there was a
sister
who oppressed a particular sheikh, she would spread
emails about him, right? With her fingers keyboard
warrior,
typing he's this and he's that. The emails
even reached me.
Allah
decreed
that the time arrives for her to go
and beg, please I need help.
My house was raided.
Right? All my bank cards have been taken.
Please can you guys help us with some
of the charities of the mosque. Anyways,
it's maybe discussion for another time.
They come and pay a visit asking for
help, not recognizing that this is Yusuf their
brother.
Are you guys with me?
And he helped them. However,
next time around he kept Ben Yamin with
him and refused to let him go.
Right? So they had to subhanAllah end up
going back without Ben Yamin and also
the eldest of
Yaqub sons
Because he took an oath that he's not
going to
come back except with Binyamin.
And this is when the father said, fasabrun
Jameel
beautiful patients
perhaps Allah Azawajal will bring them all back
to me. Eventually Allah Azawajal reunited them.
Brothers and sisters, how long do you think
it was from the time that he saw
the dream?
All the way up until they were all
reunited and the dream became a reality.
Eleven stars with 11 brothers and also the
sun and the moon,
father and the mother they all prostrated him
and eventually Yousef said, this is the interpretation
of my dream that I had. How long
do you think it was from the beginning
of the chapter all the way to the
end? Does anyone know?
60 years.
60? Anyone else?
25. 25.
We're having a guessing day.
Come on, guys. 30.
30. 40.
40. Good.
Ibn Kathir Rahmatullahi
in his tafsir he mentions the scholars they
differed was it 40 or was it 80?
Subhanallah.
Now you understand why the messenger salaam was
in need of inspiration, right?
He lost some of his own children, guys.
6 out of the 7 children
that the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had passed
away in his lifetime. Did you know that
guys?
That's not even a feeling that we can
point towards my brothers and my sisters.
May Allah as we not test you guys
with that.
But the point of the matter is the
messenger salallahu alaihi wasallam still has human emotions.
So now he's being told that look, Yaqub
went through all of this.
That at least may ease the pain a
little bit. Agreed?
Yeah. So now let's stand over inshallah to
Allah Surat Yousef.
May Allah Azza wa Jall
Allah says,
we will relate to you, oh, Muhammad, the
best of the stories. The scholars they differ
is the story of Musa or the story
of,
the best story in the Quran. I don't
want to go into that scholarly discussion. However,
I will say this.
It is better
than any story that you will ever read.
It is better than any story that Shakespeare
ever wrote about.
Romeo and Juliet, you name it. In the
Arab world, they have an equivalent to Romeo
and Juliet called,
The one who was crazy about Leila.
Trust me, it's better than every story you
will ever come across. And likewise,
every anime episode that you read about. Surat
Youssef my brothers and my sisters is far
greater than everything you will ever come across.
You just need to open up Surat Yousef
and extrapolate the benefits from it. We said
that let's take out a benefit,
right?
For every day of the year, there's 365
days,
right? We still would need more days,
SubhanAllah, because of how many benefits you will
find in Surat Yusuf.
So we relate to your Muhammad the best
of the stories.
As I mentioned it starts off with a
dream. Yusuf
sees 11 stars, the sun and the moon
all frustrating to him. He goes rushing to
his father and that is because his father
was an approachable man.
That's an important benefit, an important lesson.
You as a father being someone who is
approachable,
right? Who has that good feel factor about
him. So the people feel comfortable
to talk to him about their problems, and
sometimes you find subhanAllah,
as a parent,
the children are terrified of him. So here.
So they go and confine in others.
If you have that kind of conduct
or that kind of approach my brothers and
my sisters,
expect your children tomorrow to confine in just
about every individual they come across and there
are enough people that they could go to.
There are enough drug dealers that they could
confine
in. Enough wretched individuals.
So Yaqub alaihis salatu wasalam was not of
that kind.
That's why you get used to when running
to him. Right? If you feel like that
you got caught up in that cycle, you
had maybe a parent like that, break the
cycle my brothers and my sisters.
Some of us are older siblings, right?
We have younger siblings that are in need
of someone that they could talk to. They
need a shoulder to cry on.
This kind of tough and rough approach that
we show our younger brothers and sisters might
not always be the best idea guys, especially
in today's day and age. They need friends
otherwise there's enough people that they could go
to.
So after relating the dream he says to
him,
do not relate this dream
to your brothers.
Like I said before my brothers and my
sisters, would you guys agree that this is
indeed a blessing?
The fact now that he's seen this dream,
which indicates that he will become a prophet
of Allah, and he will be taught how
to interpret dreams. Sahih, is that a blessing?
Dreams are blessings my brothers and my sisters.
And we can put them maybe into 3
categories. The dream from Allah,
Ar Rahmani, a
Shaipani,
and also a nafsani.
The second type is the dream from the
shaitan.
Who wants to make you feel extremely miserable
and sad,
terrifies you and scares you.
The third my brothers and my sisters, right,
the best way to maybe explain it, you're
eating a Twix bar before you go to
sleep and then you see a Twix bar
in your dream. Does that mean anything? No,
it doesn't. Oh, you're thinking about mister prince
charming, right? Who came and asked for your
hand in marriage and then every other dream
that you have you see this person's image.
That does not mean anything guys.
Inza,
forget about it.
We receive so many messages. I keep seeing
him. I keep seeing him. Does that mean
he is good for me or he's not?
It's because you're thinking about him guys.
So you'll end up seeing him, of course.
And likewise, the messenger was telling me, he
said
Right? When the end of times come close,
you will see that the dreams that you
have
will very likely have a meaning
that is true.
It won't be a lie.
And the more truthful you are as an
individual, the more
likely your dreams will become true.
So dreams brothers and sisters, they are not
superstitions.
They have a basis in the religion.
Right? At times Allah
may show you something in order to warn
you. Yes, there are people like that brothers
and sisters.
Right? The closest we have to revelation because
there's no more revelation anymore. The closest to
revelation is seeing a righteous dream.
So he sees this dream and straight away
his father says, don't relate this to your
parents.
My beloved
attendees,
talking to people about your blessings or being
vocal about them
is something that must be stood over.
Did you know my brothers and my sisters
that you could lose your blessings
based on someone just hearing about them?
This is the evidence for it.
You could lose them guys.
Right?
The messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, he told us
in a hadith,
the evil eye is a reality.
There are people, my brothers and my sisters,
who when you talk to them about that
which you've been blessed with,
They will say things like,
may Allah give you more.
Right?
May Allah
increase you in what you have.
People like your parents,
Sahih.
You being blessed is like them being blessed.
However, there are others.
When you speak to them or you're vocal
about your blessings, they give you responses such
as, you're the only one that gets blessings?
Why always you?
Right?
It's just you?
Bro,
Khilas have had enough, you're always talking about
your blessings.
So this is the type of person, my
brothers meant, that you do not relate your
blessings to.
Especially,
if you have now come up with an
idea that you're trying to accomplish, like a
business one
or a marriage proposal. You don't start plastering
it all over social media, guys.
The messenger salallahu alaihi was telling me taught
us
You're looking to accomplish something, you've got an
idea.
Right?
Then be discreet in it. Don't start plastering
it all over social media and what have
you.
You want my keys?
So you have it?
Yeah. I've got it here.
Yeah.
Are you brothers and sisters with me? Does
that mean now brothers and sisters that we
start walking around extremely paranoid because of the
evil eye?
You do your in
the morning
and likewise in the evening you make dua
to Allah you do that which is correct
and inshallah
Right? Whatever happens to you it is from
the decree of Allah
Now that we mentioned my brothers and my
sisters
that you could lose your blessings by merely
people hearing about them. How about the person
now that plasters
all of his blessings
on the world wide web?
And for those who didn't know what ww.stands
for, it stands for World Wide Web. Deep
that for a moment.
Why are we posting everything on social media,
guys? Have you ever asked yourself the question?
Right?
Why?
I'll tell you guys, because many of us
are craving validation.
Have you guys heard of something called dopamine?
Do some research on it. I've come across
studies where dopamine
has been likened to heroin.
You need x amount of likes, in order
to feel a certain way, or an x
amount of retweets,
or reposts,
right, or shares,
in order for you to feel good.
And if you don't get x amount of
likes or whatever have you,
it ends up having an effect on your
mental health.
This is a reality my brothers and my
sisters.
Not so long ago,
I gave a lecture in Milton Keynes about
social media.
And I was speaking about
the relation depression has with social media usage.
I read out a study
that was carried out by the cohort project.
They are a major research project
into
young people's lives.
You know what they concluded with after interviewing
11,000,
11 to 14 year olds?
They said
40% of these young girls
who used
5 hours of social media every day
showed
symptoms of depression.
Why do you think that is?
I'll tell you guys,
right?
You see on social media,
certain types of women that are
venerated and glorified.
She has to look a certain way.
All that which these young girls are looking
at, is Kim Kardashian and her sisters.
And those who are like them.
It is that particular,
what they call the ideal woman, that they
keep on looking at,
and then they compare it to themselves.
And because she's not getting that kind of
attention, it has an effect on her morale.
It has an effect on her well-being.
Take that for me, brothers and sisters.
We're living in a time and age, right,
where we become extremely
affected by what we look at. There was
once upon a time parents would say,
my daughter is at home. She doesn't hang
around with the wrong crowd.
My son doesn't go outside with drug dealers.
They are all inside of the 4 walls
of the house.
There's no way for them to become corrupted
or for them to become influenced.
However, them days when we thought that this
is the only way that our children become
affected
or one becomes influenced, they are long gone.
What you keep looking at my brothers and
my sisters has a huge
impact
in the way you think, in the way
you behave, the way you carry yourself, and
so on and so forth. Agreed? Without a
shadow of a doubt. I've got parents calling
me saying, all of a sudden, my daughter
is asking me to buy her a miniskirt.
She's 12 years of age.
None of the women folk in our family
wear with miniskirts. She doesn't hang around with
sisters that go clubbing in miniskirts.
Why is all of a sudden she
is asking me this question? And that is
because
this young child,
this young 12 year old has become desensitized
to what she keeps on looking at.
Scrolling.
Right?
Throughout the day,
looking at what brothers?
Looking about looking at just about every Farsiqa
on TikTok.
Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, and that's all
she sees, becomes desensitized to it. What the
eyes can't see,
the heart won't desire, guys.
What the eyes can't see, the heart won't
desire.
Did everybody get that?
So it's having a huge impact what we
keep looking at. This is why my brothers
and my sisters,
right?
I have a suggestion, you don't have to
take it. I know some of my views
may be considered a little bit extreme.
No problem.
Right? Democracy. Right?
Everybody can believe what they want.
Unfollowing certain individuals that you
have become so acquainted with, and that you
look at on a day to day basis,
may be a very good idea.
Just suggestion.
I don't enforce my views.
Right? That has a huge impact on the
way you think and the way you behave.
And let me put this also on the
table guys, right?
And take this from me, as your older
brother, think I'm the oldest here, right?
Sheikh, sorry, sorry Sheikh.
You are.
A lot of that which we see on
the world wide web, brothers and sisters,
is fake.
Would you guys agree with that? Yes. A
lot of that which we see on social
media, it is fake. Brothers and sisters take
this for me. Right? I spent hours in
the prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam's wajid.
From after after 3 pm all the way
to 10 pm, I would see a lot
of people going past.
How
many times did I see someone looking
absolutely
miserable?
He takes out his phone, and he does
this.
After taking a picture,
right, he looks miserable again. There was even,
subhanallah, very embarrassing
moment I found myself in, right, there was
eye contact between me and him. Right?
And then I looked away hoping that he
never saw me looking at him. I looked
back and will lie, the brother's face went
absolutely red.
He saw that I noticed.
Right?
Who's the victim in all of these guys?
It's the one who keeps looking at it,
and he's allowing it to affect him.
So
here, I'll give you guys another incident that
is worth mentioning.
I call it the biggest
Muslim
Instagram scandal.
As someone who counsels couples from time to
time, how
many times that I hear a sister saying,
I want my husband to be like him.
Who's him?
The bearded brother, who's jumping up and down
the bouncy castle with his Niqabi wife.
Right?
As time went on, I began to hear
brother saying.
Right?
Right? Look at his wife. She's such a
lovely wife. She allowed him to marry another
woman.
And the three way triangles.
Brothers and sisters, who was the victim in
all of this? Those who kept on scrolling,
watching,
And then when
the reality surfaced onto the World Wide Web,
reality came out.
Well, I heard one of the
co wives who was stuck in this triangle
saying,
when I was in that relationship, it was
the worst period of my life.
Well, Laihi said this, it was the worst
period in my life.
He was apparently reading rakih on people, while
he had left the fold of his salam.
While everyone else has an image of him,
Adamasha Allah. He is the ideal husband. Look
how he's treating his wife.
And she keeps saying, Lord be like him.
Right?
A lot of it is fake brothers and
sisters.
Are you guys with me?
And we compared our lives to theirs, and
it affected us. I know marriages that broke
down because of that.
SubhanAllah.
What the eyes can't see? The heart won't
desire,
right?
This is why my brothers and my sisters
there's a I have a principle
That will make you feel so much more
better, especially in today's day age.
It is prophetic.
He the messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said,
you may want to write down.
Look at those
who have less than you. Don't look at
those who have more, it will make you
so much more appreciative.
It will make you so much more thankful.
There are many brothers and sisters back home
who don't have their basic needs,
and we're comparing ourselves to people who have
what this and that.
Right?
I'll give you guys one last example inshallah.
You guys heard of Gerard PK, right? And
Shakira?
I remember brother not so long ago, he
pointed this out to me.
So I'm like
He was like, I think you should mention
this in your lecture. I was like, why?
What happened? He goes, oh, they split up
from one another. Everyone gets split up. It's
the norm today.
He was like,
maybe a week or so before they split
up,
they were posting pictures of themselves,
looking extremely happy. Sahe?
And people are looking at this,
they're enjoying it.
People are thinking, oh wow man, what a
lovely couple.
Does anyone in their right mind,
right?
After having a 15 year relationship
that is problem free. The moment one problem
that they have end up separating from another.
Does that happen? Would anyone in their right
mind divorce his wife or get rid of
his partner because of one problem that happened?
No.
What became very apparent and clear was that
there was a lot of ongoing issues.
However, most people didn't know about that.
They only keep seeing
a moment
of people's lives that should be underlined in
gold.
A moment of people's lives. When you scroll,
right, and when
you go from one account to another, and
you see people extremely happy, just remember, that
may well be only a moment of people's
lives.
However, it's affecting us in so many different
ways.
The evil life brother and sister is a
reality.
And a lot of that which we see
is fake. You could lose a lot of
that. I remember subhanAllah, this incident I told
you guys now about
the
famous Muslim
Instagram couple, right?
Years
prior to what
ended up happening, I said, will lie, faith
for them, one of 2 things, either
evil eye
or all of this is fake and is
going to come up.
And then it ended up happening.
Babe,
that was benefit number 1.
I was in number 2.
Anyways I've lost count, there's a lot of
benefits there.
The second verse that I want to stand
over my brothers and my sisters is, when
the brother said,
kill him.
Get rid
of
him. After that, we will all become righteous
people.
This is a thought process, a mindset that
I want to personally deal with now.
Very very common.
Shaitan whispering,
right? Fresh is weak.
You're away from your family. No one knows
you here.
You've always lived a conservative life
of obedience.
Right?
No one's seeing you now, and the tickets
that are being handed out are only what?
£3, £4.
I know how much is being sold for
guys.
They make it so easy,
and the
university, hey, Talak kids,
come do it.
And then Shaitan gets the better view and
you say, yeah, it's just what? One night.
Brother
and sisters, take this from me, right?
Every single Eid,
I hear about someone who died with alcohol
in his mouth,
or someone who's blasting music in his car,
and then he passed away.
Maybe the last lyric that came out of
his mouth was something that Kanye West sang.
Or someone who's jumping up and down in
the club guys,
or maybe with his girlfriend, on the day
of Eid.
Every single Eid I hear about something like
that.
Right? I'm sure a lot of you guys
seen the video of the Indonesian lady going
around,
when she was reading and
then I think it was right? And then
she passed away straight after.
And we probably thought, oh, I want something
like that. May Allah have mercy upon her.
May Allah give me an ending like that
sahih.
Agreed guys?
You think is that straightforward?
Right? If I ask everyone here to say
La ilaha illallah, everybody can. I don't think
anyone that will have any issues.
And we know the famous Hadith
Whoever's last statement is
will enter into a Jannah.
You think it's that straightforward on your left
side, guys?
Have you guys heard of Alim Sheerah?
Why you guys acting like I don't know?
Maybe explain to the sisters because I don't
think they know.
Footballer.
Footballer? Current?
Previous? Former?
All time top goal scorer. All time top
goal scorer.
Alan Shearer, my brothers and my sisters, he
was like the
Ireland
Harland.
That's his name. Right?
Erland.
Anyways, I tried to memorize his name.
That was the outcome.
Harland of today.
They used to call him the fox in
the box.
He was a Newcastle player.
A sheikh one time told
me that he heard about a brother who
was on his deathbed, They went to visit
him. You walk into his bedroom,
the wallpaper has an image of Alan Shearer.
His blanket has an image of Alan Shearer.
He wakes up Alan Sheera, he goes sleep
Alan Sheera.
They tried to get him to say,
What do you think he said?
The last thing that came out of his
mouth, promises was Alan Sheera Alan Sheera. And
that's how he passed away.
Brothers and sisters.
That happens, my mother one time told me
about a brother
who was struck with HIV. He was on
his deathbed. They tried to give him to
say, la ilaha illa Allah. The last thing
that came out of his mouth was
bring my girlfriend, bring my girlfriend.
It's not that straightforward guys.
The principle here is
Whoever is excessive in doing something, he's very
likely going to die like that.
That's common sense when you think about it.
If you're always on your phone, what's the
likelihood that you will die like that? If
you're always scrolling on TikTok,
right? You may say to me, wallah is
not haram
and there's nothing wrong with it. Insha Allah,
before we all leave this room, we're going
to delete TikTok.
We all are. The app that is what?
Toxic by nature.
Is that the last thing that you want
to be scrolling or doing before you pass
away guys?
Hang
guys. The last thing that you do before
you leave this world is what's scrolling on
TikTok.
Likewise, when it comes to music, I know
some someone will probably ask me then, oh,
is music really haram?
Isn't there a difference of opinion?
For argument's sake, and I don't believe in
my heart that there is what? A difference
of opinion. There are so many unanimous agreements
in different centuries
where they all amongst themselves as scholars agree
there's haram. Anyways,
putting that to the side. Do you want
to be
on your deathbed and the last thing that
comes out of your mouth is the lyric
of Madonna?
Oh, because you know there's a difference of
opinion.
Guys?
Is that what you want guys?
Uses these words. He's a scholar that passed
away I believe over 700 years ago, right?
Said there was one on his deathbed
and he used to a lot.
They tried to get him to say, la
ilaha. You know what he said?
These are the exact words that were found
in the book that I read from.
If you live a life of tawhid brothers
and sisters learning about Allah
And the more you learn about Allah
Allah becomes so magnified in your heart. You
will feel absolutely embarrassed
and disgusted
to even think about disobeying Allah azza wa
jal.
Inshallah,
you will have
a good ending.
Right? I've seen people collapse in the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam's masjid and they're on
their way running towards the front row.
Drops down dead.
I don't think that happened by chance guys.
We see CCTV
footage going around of someone praying in a
masjid while it was empty. It's not surprising
to me. Perhaps this is how we lived
his life.
Right?
Allah shaytan plays games with us. You've got
your whole life ahead of you. Is that
really what it is? I'll take out a
story.
Approximately over 15, 16
years ago, I was walking down 7 Sisters
Road in London. You guys heard of Finsbury
Park?
Guys from London,
What you guys doing here?
I was with my little brother
and we ran into our uncle who's still
alive.
I believe he has surpassed 70 years of
age.
At the time my brothers and my sisters
whiskers began to appear on my cheeks. I
didn't have this lovely beard. Say before he
catches fire.
They were just, you know, appearing.
And I wasn't keeping a beard
because
I thought that this was a religious thing
or whatever have you I remember my mother,
she threatened me. She goes, if you take
off these whiskers, I'm kicking you out of
the house. I was like, okay, no problem
mother.
I'll keep it.
So as we're walking, my uncle sees this,
he goes, oh Mohammed, why don't you cut
that off?
I was just extremely rebellious, right? I didn't
like people telling me what to do. So
So I told him the prophet done it,
just to kind of like shut him up.
I used to take a lot of joy
in doing so,
shutting people down.
And then he goes, you got your whole
life ahead of you. Enjoy it.
They always say, YOLO.
You only live once. YOLO.
Enjoy it, got your whole life ahead of
you.
Brothers and sisters,
brothers and sisters,
that uncle is still alive.
My younger brother that was with me at
a time is no longer walking on the
face of this earth.
You know how old he was when he
was stabbed in the neck?
22 years of age.
Couple of months went by,
I lose another
relative, a cousin
died in a car crash at the age
of 24.
I bury both of them in my own
hands guys.
Am I mentioning this because I want you
to feel sorry for me, Allahu Allah, keep
your condolences.
Couple of weeks go by guys.
While I'm in Mecca, I hear
that one of my cousins
who was 18 years of age was stabbed
in the chest on one of the most
busiest roads in Birmingham,
Coventry Road.
Wallahi, at that time I shook. I was
in front of the Kaaba. I couldn't hold
myself together.
I shook.
Did they have their whole lives ahead of
them?
Did they guys?
Sometimes we live a life, right,
as if we have
a guarantee
of 50 years, of 60 years, of 70
years.
None of us are going to get a
WhatsApp message telling us to get ready
or a Snapchat or an Instagram DM,
telling you, listen, you got 5 days left.
It comes to
you unexpectedly,
guys.
It comes to you unexpectedly.
We live this life of I will and
I shall, a life of procrastination.
We know that which we are doing is
wrong,
but we keep telling ourselves Insha Allah Insha
Allah whenever somebody advises us
How many a time brothers and sisters
has one gone to sleep?
Telling himself I shall and I will and
he never ever woke up again.
How many a time brothers and sisters?
I know people like that.
Especially this mentality of, right, knowing that you
are wrong and just one more day, one
more day.
Ibnu Rajib refers to this as a disease
in the heart, disease of It's
a reason to have a very unpleasant death.
I knew my brother went to Hajj
to change his life around
and then he died after walking out of
the club. Sorry, not the club, the pub.
Yeah.
People know what is right and what is
wrong. This kind of mentality is extremely, extremely
dangerous.
Yeah.
Can I just have everyone quickly stand up
for 30 seconds, if you need to do
star jumps do so? Get the blood running
through the system again and then sit back
down.
The next point that I want to stand
over my brothers and my sisters, we have
to ask ourselves the question, why is it
that they wanted to kill?
Why is it that they wanted to get
rid of their own
blood brother?
Hassid, none.
They had envy towards him guys.
This is
a trait
that could lead one carrying out
grave,
problematic
acts, my brothers and my sisters.
They wanted to carry out murder because of
what? Has it?
I've come to know about
sisters
because, of course, you know, the brother who
wanted to marry them,
maybe went for someone else. Tell you guys
there was an incident.
This brother asked a sister for a hand
in marriage. She agreed.
As they are getting closer to the date
he sees her sister walking past,
and he ends up falling for her.
Eventually he married her.
Imagine how
the first sister feels,
absolutely torn apart,
and she couldn't maintain it together.
She went to a magician and requested
black magic to be done on him.
Magic my brothers and my sisters is an
act of kufr. An act that takes you
out of the fold of Islam. It is
mentioned in the Quran.
The
2 angels, Harut and Marud, that were sent
as a trial to the people of Babylon.
To teach the magic, Allah sent them. But,
they were there as a trial.
They would come with a huge disclaimer.
We will teach you, but just know, If
you accept it from us, and you allow
us to teach you, you will leave the
fold of Islam.
You will commit
kufr. They would teach them how to separate
between husband and wife.
So there are people who ask for this
type of magic to be carried out.
Right? Not so long ago, sure a lot
of you guys came across it, right?
The incident involving Paul Pogba.
Whether he did try to do magic on
Mbappe or not, I'm not going to speculate.
However, that which
he affirmed and acknowledged was,
I did visit a magician, but it was
for the sake of
being or staying injury free.
And even then, you're still getting injured.
I don't think the magic spell worked.
It's something that is extremely rampant, guys. Tastes
like Africa, in Yemen,
Even here, subhanAllah.
The magician don't think he has this huge,
hat.
He looks like me, with a beard,
right? His
Masha'Allah is pretty,
maybe in a better state than my one.
Right? Iron.
He looks like the righteous person
that you would think is a scholar,
and he's carrying out magic practices.
Destroying your tawhid guys.
Right? So hasad is extremely dangerous. I know
it's also very very rampant in university settings.
You and your good friend, you start at
the university same time, same grades, and then
all of a sudden he surpasses you.
And you look for every way to bring
that individual down.
So happens
without a shadow of a doubt. By the
way guys,
we come from or we have similar backgrounds.
I went to university,
top
5.
So I know what happens, I'm very up
to date guys,
very up to date. I'm in touch with
reality.
I'm not backwards.
How can I get myself
or how could I
purify my heart, my brothers and my sisters
from Hasid?
That which maybe could lead to
carrying out these very dangerous acts. Does anyone
know? I know there's different ways to get
rid of it, but I want something.
Right? That has the biggest impact on individual's
heart. Because when you think about it, guys,
you having envy for another person, you actually
have a problem with Allah. Look again how
the to hate comes in handy.
Right?
You in other words are saying, how come
so and so
deserves it, oh God, but you don't give
it to me?
He was indeed bad manna to Allah as
the poet says.
Because you weren't pleased with what Allah decreed,
Allah can give it to whoever he was.
So how can I get rid of Hasid?
Of this devilish
type of
quality if you want to call it. Can
anyone tell me? I'm looking at something that's
extremely impactful.
Prayer. Anything else?
Hi, Ishaq. Ishaq. Ishaq. Ishaq. Ishaq. Ishaq. Ishaq.
Ishaq.
Anyone else?
Remembering Allah.
Make dua for a person?
Where did you get that from?
Teacher.
What's it mean?
You make dua
for that person that you have envy for,
asking Allah to give him more.
But he already has more than me, I
asked Allah to give him more. Yes.
Because the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said,
that
our The dua
that one makes for his brother in his
absence is accepted.
There's
an angel who has been given the responsibility
to say,
and you can have the same as well.
So you ask Allah to give him more.
You get whatever he has
or maybe that which is best for you
that Allah
knows or is more knowing about.
Right?
And you'll be blessed in ways
that the mind couldn't imagine.
Especially,
excuse me for saying the sisters,
when she sees that a sister may be
much more good looking than her.
That's extremely rampant.
And the hasad,
the envy isn't just restricted to the heart,
it starts what? Professing on the tongue.
Starts backbiting, and that's why it's also extremely
dangerous. She thinks she's this,
She thinks she's that,
how do you know what she thinks?
Did you check inside of her heart? I
don't know. Do you have an x-ray checking
inside of her brain? And whatever have
you?
Don't worry, sisters. I'm gonna get the brothers
as well.
The next point that I want to stand
over my brothers and my sisters is, why
would Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
allow
all of these difficulties and hardships to reach
Yahoob Alaihi Wasallam?
Old man,
subhanAllah.
This calamity led to him becoming blind because
of how excessively used to cry, subhanAllah.
Why would Allah
send down revelation,
instructing,
allow them to take him.
Yusuf is the most beloved son of him.
Right? If there's really a God, why is
he allowing all of this evil to take
place? Isn't this what we hear all the
time?
My brothers and my sisters, how
often have we been in a position
where we thought to ourselves, subhanallah,
if that didn't happen, I wouldn't have this
today. Especially when it comes to marriage related
scenarios
and issues.
Princess Charming comes along and you think to
yourself, there is no one
on the face of this earth that will
ever be like her.
You try your utmost best and you keep
trying, Abba, dad, mom, they all keep saying,
no. It's not gonna happen.
Right? You become loss sick, infatuated.
And then years go by, Allah blesses you
with a sister that the mind couldn't imagine.
And then you say, if that didn't happen,
I wouldn't have this today.
Sahi? Right?
Some of us here, my brothers and my
sisters,
we come from
war torn backgrounds.
Our parents are from countries where there was
wars after wars, sahi.
When they were
going through these difficulties and hardships
and their homes were being shot at
by the opponent
or bombs were flying left, right, and center,
destroying and demolishing homes.
They probably thought to themselves, subhanAllah, why is
this all happening to me?
Why am I going through all of this
right? You think it ever crossed their mind
that
this war may be the reason why
they end up going to the UK to
live a better life?
Think it ever crossed their minds?
My parents had to run away from wherever
they were guys.
If they didn't go whatever they went through,
I probably wouldn't be standing here today.
It turns out to be a blessing in
disguise.
I know of a Sheikh, an African Sheikh,
who was driven out of his home.
He came to Al Medina, he ended up
becoming a teacher in the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam's masjid teaching the Arabs.
Even though he had all of the odds
stacked up against him.
Things happen for a reason, my brothers and
my sisters.
Right?
Everything
that may seem appear or may appear brothers
and sisters to be negative, you can put
a positive spin on it.
You could put a positive spin on it.
There's always light at the end of the
tunnel.
Are you brothers and sisters with me? My
favorite line of poetry, my brothers and my
sisters is,
Right?
It may be something that you really dislike.
However, it drags along with it that which
is going to bring you utter joy.
Right?
That which you really love is not apparent,
you're looking for it, where is it? All
you can see is that which is displeasing
to the eye.
My brothers and my sisters, right? Can anyone
here see that which is happening outside of
this room?
You've accepted that your eyesight is limited,
and also your hearing is limited.
And what you can smell is limited. Why
is it that you fail to understand
that your intellect is limited as well?
Right.
I'll tell you guys about
what happened a couple of days ago when
I accidentally killed a reindeer.
Yes.
As I was driving back from the University
of East Anglia,
Norwich,
I was driving 70 miles power abiding by
the law.
Right?
And I collided with
a reindeer,
and I ended up killing it.
May Allah have mercy upon the reindeer,
but I don't know what happened to it
after,
all I know is that it went flying.
And it's rained also, my brothers and my
sister had this. What do you guys call
it? Antalopes.
Antalopes.
And they told me that they know people
who,
when they crashed into the reindeer, this thing
on the top, ended up smashing into the
windscreen.
As I was driving, subhanAllah,
this reindeer is running and decided to stop
right in front of me.
Well, I thought brothers and sisters that this
is the end of my life. I thought
I was dead. You could have maybe been
praying the Janas on me.
Honestly,
it gave me a huge huge reminder.
Honestly, it did. And it showed me how
close death could be to you.
In this university thought, subhanAllah.
I'll tell you guys something else brothers and
sisters,
right?
That will maybe put things into context.
I arrived around 2 AM, couldn't even be
bothered to look at a car,
got out, went straight home.
Next morning I was like, you know what?
Let me take you to the mechanics.
Brothers and sisters, the last thing that I
need now
with this very busy schedule that I have,
it's not easy
going around.
I was in Glasgow yesterday.
Right? Yesterday I was in Glasgow,
and then I drove down to London from
Birmingham after arriving
by flight.
And then I had 2 lessons after that,
and then here I am today, right?
After only getting maybe 2, 3 hours sleep
because I was dealing with an absolute madness,
with this
brother's wife.
Wife's meant to be at home, right, with
him,
especially because
his mother passed away.
She decided to leave in order to go
fight sisters on some of the streets of
London, and I was dealing
with
that. Wallahi didn't sleep till 3 AM.
She should be by his side, right? Especially
in testing times like this.
Right? However, I found them on the streets
looking to maybe what?
Attack another.
It's been very tough, guys. It really, really
has. The last thing that I need
is the headache of having to fix my
car, even now the vice president actually fixing
it. Because something is like
tearing apart, falling off. As I'm driving, I
can see things falling behind me.
If I managed to get through his university
tour with this Toyota Corolla,
wallahi, it will be a huge accomplishment.
Make dua for the car guys.
I took it to the mechanic,
he opens it up, he decides to just
randomly check the oil.
The first thing he says to me is,
are you okay in the head?
One of the mechanics said that to me.
I said, what do you mean? He goes,
your oil is
It is below 0.
And for those who have some sort of
experience with cars, when your oil runs down,
you decide to drive,
it will cause your time belt to snap.
And if that happens,
to your
car. And then that's when he filled in
the oil. He asked me how long you've
been driving for?
I said,
a couple of places.
But the point of the matter is,
if that miskin
reindeer didn't pass away,
allahu a'lam what I would have done or
what would have happened to the car?
It was a blessing in disguise.
If you ask me today my brothers and
my sisters,
what was the best thing to ever happen
to you? What do you think I would
say?
I remember when I was in
Scotland, I asked the same number. I asked
the same question.
1 of the students said coming to Glasgow.
Allahu Alam, whether that's the case.
If you ask me my brothers and my
sisters, what's the best thing to ever happen
to you? You know what I would say?
A divorce in 2015.
However, if you ask me back then in
2015,
right? About what is happening to me at
the time or what was happening to me
at the time, I would say to you
this is the worst possible thing. And I
wouldn't wish on to anyone, and I still
don't.
But it's the worst thing that has ever
happened to me.
Right?
Evil brothers and sisters is subjective, as Ignatemia
mentions. He says, Allah does not create anything
that is what? Purely evil. There's nothing that
Allah has created that is purely a evil.
It is subjective, the way you look at
it.
Right? Are you brothers and sisters with me?
Everything can be looked at in a positive
light.
At times, as I've mentioned time and time
again, it's a blessing in disguise. When you
look at Surat Yusuf, Allah
he mentions
His two names, Al Aleem and Al Hakim,
three times. And that doesn't just happen by
chance, guys.
What does Al Ali mean? Allah is all
knowing. What does Al Hakim mean? Allah is
all wise.
Everything happens for a reason. You may not
necessarily see the good in it, but be
patient.
And it may become apparent to you,
even after some time.
Remember this point that I mentioned,
how many a time brothers and sisters have
we been in a position where we thought,
if that didn't happen I wouldn't have this
today. Even sometimes when you lose a child
guys, I know parents,
right? Who are wishing that something happens to
their child.
That they depart from this world because of
the child driving them crazy.
He put so much time and effort into
bringing him up, and now he becomes a
drug dealer.
They'll even make Dua. You Allah, take you
off the face of this earth. Because they
can't sleep.
Of course, this is not something that is
advisable,
a right thing to actually be doing, but
this is how some parents feel, it's there.
It's a real situation,
right? But you lose a child now,
even though the child is maybe what? 4,
5 years of age.
Right?
Can you not look at this maybe in
a positive way? It can, right?
You never know, this child could be the
child that causes you to become a certain
type of individual that leads you to hellfire.
Not that I
wish this onto anyone, but I'm trying to
make you guys understand. I'm trying to stimulate
your minds.
Blessing in disguise
could be the term that is used in
many things that happen in our lives.
Moving on swiftly my brothers and my sisters,
I've only got inshallah,
maybe what?
3 more points left and I'm done. You
guys have done absolutely amazing.
Even though you guys are millennials. I checked
a couple of years ago the average attention
span of a millennial,
It was 24 minutes. That was back then.
Not so long ago, I asked one of
the brothers to quickly research what's the average
attention span in 2,022.
He found an article. He said 8 minutes.
When I checked it,
it was an outdated article
of a couple of years ago. So, Allahu
a'alam, what it is now.
Makes a lot of sense why all of
these social media platforms use reels.
30 second clips because they know that's what
catches your mind.
So I hope, inshallah, you guys are still
focused.
You guys are.
The next point, my brothers and my sisters,
They came back that evening
crocodile tears.
Crying to their father, we went to play,
we left him, right? A wolf came and
ate him.
And here's the evidence.
I mentioned crocodiles, and we can take a
huge lesson from this, brothers and sisters.
There's always one two sides to a story.
The messenger
told
when 2 people come and seek your judgment
When 2 people come and seek your judgment,
don't rush to taking the side of any
of them until we hear the other person
out.
As excited young says,
our friends might tell us something, and then
we jump on it straight away.
Likewise,
you have a sister that's been married,
her and her husband get into a bit
of a scuffle, right? Which happens? And scuffle
I mean an argument,
Before I get misinterpreted. Allahu Alam, someone from
channel 4 might be here cutting things out.
I'm extremely,
They've tried it before at universities but they
failed horribly.
And just to make you very clear, I'm
a compassionate imam.
I spread peace.
Some cameras,
even though I have a lot of controversial
videos,
none of them have ever been taken down
because we have
very nicely written disclaimers at the beginning.
Anyways, going back to the point I was
making, guys.
Her and the husband, they get into a
bit of an argument, and then she comes
complaining to you as her brother.
What do many do?
He wants to show that he's a tough
guy, right?
Not hearing out the other person, he goes
and oppresses.
2 sides to a story, guys.
This is very very important, very important.
And I'm going to pay a special tribute
to Twitter in a moment.
Okay. Well, come on to it. You know
my brothers and my sisters, just to show
you guys how important this is.
Okay. As someone who counsels couples from time
to time, once upon a time I received
a phone call
of a brother who began to rip his
wife
to shreds.
Wallahi made her look like the biggest devil
that's walking on the face of this earth.
My wife is this, my wife is that,
I want you to come and mediate between
us, but just be very careful. She speaks
in a very magical way.
That's why I'm telling you all of this
now, because she'll manipulate you.
I said send me your location.
Wala, the location takes me to
a place where there's nobody.
For a moment when I arrived, and there's
no car, no one there. I thought it
was an assassination attempt.
No one's there.
No one's there, guys.
And to make things worse, I see this
guy walking from far like this with his
hand.
What is he holding? I don't know.
I asked him, why did you bring me
here? He goes, I've got some more stuff
to tell you about my wife.
We go to the house, guys.
I say to him, speak, go on. Everything
you've been telling me, You're
more than welcome now to open your mouth.
He goes, no, let her speak.
One point after the other, after the other,
after the other. How you respond?
Go on.
The lion has become like a mouse.
Absolutely
silent.
As they say, right, pin drop silence.
This is why the prophet will say,
That both the defendant and the claimant, they
have to go and sit in front of
the judge. A lot will become apparent, guys.
And now brothers and sisters,
Twitter.
The social media app, if you want to
cancel someone,
Sahir,
it is the app.
Unfortunately, at times we fall into
huge
problematic sins.
We hear
an allegation that is being spread about
so and so, who might be a celebrity,
who might be,
a very popular,
huge personality,
we hear something and we begin to gossip
and beg.
Retweeting,
even recently I came to know about what
QT stands for, quote
tweets. Quote tweeting,
liking,
sharing,
spreading it as far as we can.
And then later on the reality comes down,
you say, oh,
oh, I didn't know.
It's a little too late now.
You know what I believe, my brothers and
my sisters, that Twitter can get you to
a Jannah. One tweet can get you to
a Jannah.
What do I mean by that? You post
something, you might not get any retweets or
any shares or any likes, however someone screenshots
it,
and then you see it, subhanAllah,
being circulated all over WhatsApp. Being embraced by
so many people.
Right?
Parents are teaching their children and their children
are going to be teaching their children.
And it's going to be on your scale
of good deeds.
These tools are very powerful.
Right? However, the opposite applies as well. The
messenger salaarius on one time saw a man
being punished. You know how he was being
punished?
A hook was placed in his mouth,
another in his nose, and the third in
his eye socket.
Right? And he was being ripped.
All the way to the back, and then
he would come back to normal again.
The Prophet
asked,
what did he do? He said, he would
come out of his house, take the take
the
It would spread a light that reaches the
other side of the world. You know when
I heard this hadith many, many years ago,
I thought to myself,
what were the companions thinking when they heard
it?
How can something
that someone says reach the other side of
the world when they only have camels in
the middle of an Arabian desert?
However, today we have
many types of transports.
Etihad Airways, Virgin Atlantic.
And even more so what? These social media
apps.
Within 5 minutes, that which you post could
reach the other side of the world. Right?
Maybe even less than that. You can start
a war on Twitter.
Just ask Donald
Trump.
These social media apps are extremely powerful in
that sense.
However my brothers and my sisters, what is
it exactly that we're doing? We are giving
up on our hereafter,
when we jump on every little thing that
we hear.
And I say this to the brothers, right?
This is very common amongst them.
They hear about something that a sister done,
and they end up what? Spreading all types
of filth about her. She sleeps around this,
and she sleeps around that. She's not
Guys, what is the capital punishment for the
one who accuses
a chaste woman of a zina? Who can
tell me?
Eighty
lashes. Eighty lashes.
Eighty lashes, guys.
And you have to bring forth
4 witnesses
of her having committed that crime,
and they have to see it actually taking
place.
That's how serious it is. It is from
the worst of the major sins.
Accusing a chaste women
of having committed
Right? Very very common.
Right? And especially to my sisters, because it's
very common amongst them when it's on social
media.
Bickering
and gossiping,
and spreading.
Right? When in reality you haven't heard the
other person out.
Right?
I think a lot of us can relate
to what happened between Johnny Depp and Amber
Heard.
I'm not defending any of them. That's not
my job.
In fact, I don't even care to be
honest. However, one thing we all agree
one thing we all agree my brothers and
my sisters, that there is more that which
meets the eyes.
The first trial what happened, or the first
court case, the guy got cancelled, he got
sacked,
he lost whatever he was doing.
Now the second court case, which was broadcasted
all over the Internet.
I think everyone here agrees that there was
more
than that which meets the ice.
There's more.
A lot started surfacing, coming out.
There's always two sides to a story.
My brothers and my sisters, I have a
principle. You know what this principle is?
When you and your friend cooperate in sin
and evil,
in order to conspire or to bring an
individual down,
right?
It's only a matter of time before you
guys bash heads with one another.
Right?
That's what happens. They spread things about another.
It happens amongst what? Family members. Today, they're
very tightly knitted, and then all of a
sudden, they're fighting one another. It happens amongst
drug dealers.
Today, they're selling drugs together, and tomorrow, the
guy is shooting him.
It happens amongst spouses,
gossiping and bickering about something they heard about
with regards to that particular individual and his
wife. It's a matter of time before they
what? Bash heads with one another.
There's always two sides to the story.
Be extremely extremely careful what you say about
others as it comes back to haunt you.
It will bite you right in the ankle.
Right?
Two sides to a story.
Likewise, when it comes to student,
university campuses,
very common.
Very, very quickly now my brothers and my
sisters.
Right? 2 more things, and the last one,
I've left it to last, because the most
juiciest part, right?
The interaction between Yusuf
and his beautiful lady.
When they came back to their father in
the evening with crocodile tears,
and they said whatever they said, his response
was for Sabron Jameel.
Beautiful patients.
The aid of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is
sought in that which he described.
That was his first response. Later on brothers
and sisters, he loses
his second child,
Binyamin.
And the third doesn't come home.
He also says Fasabrun Jameel.
Right? However, this time around he says, perhaps
now Allah will bring them all back to
me. This is my favorite benefit, guys. I
really love it. I'll tell you guys why.
We all go through difficulties and hardships.
And it may well be that the hardship
and these struggles, they intensify, they become even
worse.
In most cases, when it gets worse, what
is the response of many?
They tend to lose hope. Right? It breaks
them.
It already happened once and now it's getting
worse.
It's multiplying.
I feel like there's no light at the
end of the tunnel and that just destroys
your mentality.
However, look at the response of Yaqub. When
it happened the second time around, you could
see
his positivity only increased. His hope became higher
and higher.
Perhaps now Allah will bring them all back
to me. So the scholars they mentioned, when
it gets more difficult brothers and sisters, it
is now that the light is close.
That you are going to be relieved of
your difficulties.
So hold on to it, whether this whether
the storm
as it is,
close to an end.
Right?
I think that's very very powerful guys. Very
powerful.
And I've seen it, witnessed it, felt it.
Right? When you think halas, you know, it
can't get any worse, it's then when you
will be relieved
He was in the well. Right?
Deep
and dark.
He did the right thing. He was forsaken,
and he was deserted, but he still did
the right thing.
At times my brothers and my sister, you
may feel like that everyone has abandoned you,
that no one wants anything to do with
you, right?
You're all left alone.
It's times like that that one may begin
to retaliate.
He may start
feeling like, you know what? If Allah has
done this to me, you know what? Forget
it. I'll go do whatever I want.
No, brothers and sisters. Look what happened to
Yusuf.
They deserted him. They forsaked him.
Right? He was sold for a very, what,
cheap amount. He was made to feel worthless,
but he did the right thing. And Allah
Azzawajal what? Look what he gave him.
All of a sudden he finds himself now
being brought up and cultivated in one of
the most luxurious places on Earth.
He finds himself alone
with the wife of Al Aziz.
Brothers and sisters, when you are alone with
the opposite gender,
expect
danger to be around the corner.
Right? In order to get to her chamber,
the area that she sleeps in, you would
have to go through a room after another
after another, and she ended up closing all
of them.
Remember guys here, Yusuf is away from his
family. Nobody can see him. This is his
master instructing him now to take off his
clothes. He could have easily said to him,
right? As some of us sometimes feel, well,
I know one is watching. Just quick thing,
right?
Especially when you are travel, sahe.
You go to places like Morocco,
you tend to let your guard down.
I know guys, I know.
However, that was not the case.
She told him, hey Telek, let's get it
on.
She wanted to commit the Fahisha with him
a zina.
Before I move on my brothers and my
sisters, you may ask me the question, what's
the big deal with zina? Everyone does it.
Right? You got all of these guys, Friday
night, Saturday night. Right? They walk into work
Monday night, boasting about everything that they've done
in the last couple of days.
And they seem like they're really having a
good time.
And that really really what?
Entices you to go and do that Haram.
Is that really the case?
Is that really really the case guys?
Let me tell you guys about
a cousin of mine,
who's a drug dealer
and he also had a girlfriend.
In the month of Ramadan he said, You
know what? Khalas.
I'm gonna cut
her off. I'm gonna change my life. And
by the way, guys, the month of Ramadan
are used by many as a stepping stone.
For you to look at a sister who
just wore a hijab, and you start calling
her a Ramadan Muslim, fear Allah.
You have absolutely no right to do that.
There are many brothers and sisters who are
different stages of their journey. The month of
Ramadan is like a push for them simply
because the scene has been set. The doors
of Jannah have been swung open, and the
doors of hellfire have been slammed shut. And
the shayateen are what chained up.
So he or she wants to use the
month of Ramadan as a stepping stone for
you now to belittle them or to look
down on them, wallahi have a serious problem.
And it may well be the reason why
you end up falling off.
So the month of Ramadan,
he's praying in the night,
fasting in the day.
Right? And he feels extremely good, sometimes brothers
and sisters, and I'm sure a lot of
us can relate
to this, right? As soon as Ramadan finishes,
our iman goes down. We don't feel that
spiritual anymore, sahih. But we feel so different
in the month of Ramadan. Why? Because we're
doing a lot of acts, righteous acts.
I'm nearly done, guys. That's the final part.
So he's in an amazing place, spiritually. He's
a drug
dealer.
And he made the decision, Khilaz, I'm cutting
her off.
As Ramadan comes to an end,
30th day of Ramadan sah, as soon as
the adan goes off,
it is as if you can see the
devil is being released.
Have you guys heard of Edgewood Road?
Anyone here from Birmingham?
Yeah. You guys heard of Lady Poole Road?
South or likewise, in West London, south of
Broadway.
Allah, it is as if you can see
the devils being released
with how the people are, what, behaving.
The shaytan is whispering, so he gets a
phone call.
Gets a phone call, guys.
On the day of Eid,
and the shaytan operates very very subtly.
Gets a phone call from his girlfriend,
and she says,
right? She says,
I just want 5 minutes of your time
to talk about making it halal.
Shaitan is not gonna say, listen. This is
the haram thing. Go and do it. Look
what he done to our father Adam and
Eve. Not Adam and Steve by the way.
Adam and Eve.
Go and eat from the apple tree,
And you will abide forever
in Aljannah.
Right? Isn't that what he done?
And they ate from it.
And look what happened after. So the shaitan
now, look how he beautified it.
5 minutes and we talk about making the
relationship halal.
Or is it halal?
He drives down, pulls up,
and within 5 minutes they carried out a
zena in the back of the car.
I'm not done
yet. I'm not done.
Here comes the catch.
There's a drug dealer saying this to me,
right? When he was telling me his eyes
were getting watery.
He said, my iman was there.
I worked so hard in the month of
Ramadan. I felt like all of that hard
work went crashing down into the ground
within that 5 minutes.
As soon as I was done, I just
basically drove off,
and I felt absolutely miserable.
Miserable.
You know sometimes brothers and sisters, we do
certain things, right? We look at certain things,
and the iman gradually comes down,
Fix it. Duck, duck, duck, up until there's
nothing left. There are certain actions like,
that completely
tears you apart.
It destroys your spirituality.
Are you guys with me? This is a
drop deer saying this to me, and then
I said to him, yes, this reminds me
of when the prophet
said, When one is committing a zina,
right? His iman is lifted from him.
Not that he becomes a disbeliever, that he's
committing a major sin,
but he gets lifted from him. There's different
ways that the hadith has been interpreted.
But the point of the matter is, look
at the kind of impact that he has.
The sins that we carry out, guys, it
has a detrimental effect.
People think you only have to answer for
it for it on your.
My brothers and sisters, it has consequences in
this world.
Have a video online on my channel, it's
called the effects of sins.
Take a look at it inshallah
when you have some time.
Right? So going back to
what happened my brothers and my sisters. Right?
You used to have a way to start
with Islam was alone. What happens when you're
alone with the opposite agenda? Who's the third
guys? Shaitan. Shaitan.
Everyone said that with a passion.
Everyone knows.
I'll tell you guys about something that happened
in one of the universities.
If you know, then please
don't drop any names.
Don't hint.
Don't nudge
your brother or your sister next to you.
I got contacted a couple of years ago.
There was his brother in the prayer room,
and his sister likewise, and between him was
a divider.
Shaitan whispered to her and said, oh, he
probably has the answer to your query.
So she came round, and she asked the
question, and he gave her the answer and
she left.
2nd time around,
right, she asked another question, but this time
with a smile, and she got her answer
with a smile.
3rd time around, brothers and sisters,
in the prayer hall, they committed a zina.
I got a message with your advice.
I believe also it was this case that
she became impregnated,
after,
the sexual interaction happened.
And they felt absolutely disgusted,
absolutely broken,
this and that.
This is what happens my brothers and sisters
when you are alone with the opposite gender.
Stop telling yourself I'm a tough guy.
Right? And sometimes the sister may say, I
can stop being insecure.
No brothers and sisters,
we've got the wrong end of the stick.
Right?
Men are weak.
The prophet SAWH taught us,
I haven't left a fitna that is greater
upon my Ummah, than what? Than women.
Even Allah
tells us man has been created weak. Right?
I believe it was Imam Ahmed who
commented on his verse and he said, weakness
here means, guy is trying to lower his
gaze. Right?
A woman walks past and he looks at
her, that's his weakness.
Sometimes you advise a sister to maybe dress
a little bit more appropriately, she says tell
him to lower his gaze.
Yeah. Tell him.
He should lower his gaze. You're right. However,
also my sister,
you shouldn't be
contributing to the widespread of fitna,
if that makes sense. Right?
So he was alone with her and this
is when she said, hey Tillek, let's get
it on.
Straight away what did he do guys?
What was the first thing that he done?
He saw refuge in
Allah Right? He turned to Allah
Likewise, Marib Alaihi Salam,
when Jibril approached her in the form of
a man,
human being.
What was the response?
I seek refuge in Allah from you. If
you're a person of piety, leave me alone.
She didn't said, oh, we got palm tree
here. Can I get you some dates?
You wanna sit around?
How was your morning? She never said that,
guys.
Sometimes what happens my brothers and my sisters,
a sister slides into your DM brothers.
Right? You click on her profile picture and
you're blown away.
Shaitan whispers,
give her dua.
Convert her to Al Islam. She will be
your Khadija
of the future.
Look how the Shaitan is playing with him.
And guess what ends up happening?
She ends up giving him dua
with her looks.
In the month of Ramadan,
brothers
and sisters messaging saying, right? I committed
what is the expiation?
Did you know guys that not
but sexual * between husband and wife in
Ramadan is a major sin. Did you know
that?
While they are fasting.
If that's the case between husband and wife,
what about the person who's not even married?
Right? And you know what really astonished me?
Once I I I would ask them, like,
how did you get to know him?
Did you guys know each other before Ramadan?
And we're on day maybe number 8 or
number 9.
Because, no, we didn't know each other before
Ramadan.
How did we get to know one another?
Social media,
Instagram,
AKA Fitinagram.
He clicked on a profile picture or vice
versa, one thing led to another. And the
moment you click on their profile picture, you
are playing with fire brothers and sisters.
You are playing with fire. Why are you
even following her? Or why are you following
him?
Unless, of course, there's a good cause for
it where that or whatever have you, but
why can men and women just be friends?
Every time they ask me at the university,
I would tell them go and ask Steve
Harvey.
He has a very good answer to that.
Because if I open my mouth, I may
not ever be able to come back to
this wonderful university again.
Straight away, brothers and sisters,
after seeking refuge in Allah, he remembered the
favors of his Lord.
Allah was so great to me. He was
so kind. And now, I'm gonna throw it
back in his face.
Look where Allah brought me. He allowed me
to live in this palace. After I was,
what, abandoned and deserted,
He began to remember the favors of his
lord.
Don't look at how small the sin is,
guys. Look at who you are disobeying.
Right? And then he began to run, guys.
He began to run away.
And this, my brothers and my sisters,
is how Yusuf alaihisattu was salam responded
to this woman wanting to commit the with
him. Very quickly,
right?
Yusuf Alaihi Salam left
prison after the other 2. Right? Why?
What happened to the first? Does anyone know?
Very quickly.
What happened to the first who was released?
Executed. He was executed, good. What about the
second one? He became the servant
of the king.
Right? What about Yusuf? Became the chancellor. Right?
The one who's in charge of the treasury.
At times, my brothers and my sisters,
right, you being relieved of your difficulties may
be delayed so Allah can give you more.
That's exactly what happened here.
He was granted more, brothers and sisters, and
that's so beautiful.
Now brothers and sisters, we managed to finish
the lecture, 5 things.
I've shared it with all of the university
students except some because I ran out of
time. Normally, I have a class at 8:15,
but I don't have today.
You see all these lovely faces along very.
Five things, guys.
If you hold onto it, my brothers and
my sisters, right,
you won't go astray.
You will be in a good place.
Number 1, a salah, a salah.
Don't leave off the salah, guys.
I don't care what's happening in your life.
Even if you are the biggest drug dealer
on campus,
Or you are a sister who works in
a brothel.
Or is selling herself on *.
Well, like guys, I'm being serious. I know
what's happening on campus.
How some of our sisters are trying to
make money in order to make ends meet.
I don't care what's happening guys.
Sometimes the shaitan whispers and makes you feel
like you're dirty and filthy. How can you
pray when all of this is happening to
you? Or you're engaging or indulging in all
of this?
This is a trap from the Shaitan guys.
Prayer isn't just with peep for people with
beards
or people who wear thobes.
It is there to purify you from the
filth and evil.
The removes the filth and evil from your
life.
Brothers and sisters,
I had a friend
that was running the drug dealing industry in
East London.
You guys know what I mean, right? Not
my friend like that, but, you know, someone
that I knew.
He even apparently has 2 houses in Canary
Wharf.
This brother, he's moving drugs from a to
b.
As he's moving the drugs and he realizes
the time kicked in,
he stops the car, takes out his spray
mat from the boot and starts praying.
3 non Muslims became friend, became Muslim.
Told like this guy is onto something. Right?
He never gets arrested.
He never gets arrested. It's probably his prayer.
Let's become Muslims as well.
He came on Amra with us.
We normally take drug dealers and road men.
Right?
Even in November we're going,
we take that kind of crowd.
Are you guys with me? Babe.
He flipped his life around. You know what
I put it down to? The salah.
It removes the filth and the evil from
your life. I can give you guys countless
stories
of someone who did not or should I
say, he started praying and or he just
started feeling uncomfortable around that what she was
doing. You guys had a fousey tube?
Yeah.
Mhmm. Our sisters are in. You guys know
him?
Sisters,
have you guys heard of him?
Yeah. Like,
I think everyone has. Right?
Have you guys
have you guys come across his most recent
video just before his boxing match?
Did anyone hear what he said?
It is unfortunate that we have to use
them as examples brothers and sisters. I am
not doing this to dignify their names.
Just before his boxing match, he was asked,
how are you feeling?
You know what his response was? I stopped
*.
I stopped watching *. I stopped committing zina.
I stopped drinking alcohol. I stopped consuming drugs.
I'm clean. Right? And I'm praying.
And I couldn't have felt any better.
This is FouseyTube, my brothers and my sisters.
Right? This is FouseyTube.
Are your brothers and sisters with me? Someone
who has announced his
apostasy more than once.
Someone who was looking for direction. Someone who
would talk about his depression, him being bipolar.
But now he's realized this is what's going
to grant me contentment.
Well, my brother says, you know what is
really sad, right? A lot of these very
well known YouTubers You guys heard of Logan
Paul?
KSI?
I think the other guy is called The
Beast.
And I think the other one was Justin
Bieber.
I sent these videos to my brother. You
know what they were all saying? We are
depressed. We live double lives. What people see
on camera is very different to what happens
behind closed doors. Some of them are crying
themselves to sleep, guys. They're all depressed. They're
looking for different ways to give them that
spiritual contentment that money can't buy.
What do most people do, guys? When they're
going through sadness, when they're going through hard
times, they play music.
Is the music really going to deal with
the underlying issues, or are you actually just
covering it up?
If you look at all of these different
industries,
sports industry is what? A $1,000,000,000 industry.
Have you ever wondered why?
The entertainment industry,
Hollywood, Bollywood, Somaliland,
you name it.
$1,000,000,000 industry.
Netflix, Amazon,
it's a very, very lucrative
business.
Likewise, when you look at drugs, $1,000,000,000 industry,
they call
cocaine Britain's open secret. Did you know that?
Who do you think is consuming it? You
think it's the
local,
druggie or the that you see rolling around
at the bus stop?
When you go out to Fajr, you think
it's only him?
Professionals are consuming drugs, guys.
Professionals.
In order to what? Relieve themselves. To cover
up that emptiness which money can't buy.
Or any other distraction in this world.
Likewise, you have alcohol. You have people, when
they go through hard times, what do they
do?
They drink.
That's why I always say, right? They drink
to forget, we do, zikr to remember.
They drink to forget, we do zikr to
remember.
This peace that we're looking for, brothers, the
way Allah and sisters, the way Allah created
you as a human being, your heart
craves for its creator. That's how the heart
has been created.
Food soup out of all people guys.
Who does and says whatever he says.
He who has talked about his depression is
saying to you, I couldn't have felt any
better. This is after you left off all
of these sins.
Number 2 guys.
I'll I'll just skim through it very quickly.
Have a connection with the house of Allah.
Don't cut off the Masjid, guys. I heard
a Kuwaiti sheikh one time mention, not tens,
not hundreds, not thousands of people who
stopped coming to the message, they ended up
falling off. I've met people like that as
well. They would say to me, it happened
or it started happening
when I started, you know, cutting or distancing
myself from the masjid,
and my salah started becoming very watery.
Every individual has the right to walk into
the desert.
No one has the right to make you
feel uncomfortable.
Right? A woman who just walked out of
the club wearing a miniska,
she should be made to feel welcome in
the house of Allah.
Right? Sometimes we make people feel uncomfortable.
See a brother who may have his hair
a certain way, and we're looking at him
extremely weird. Why is this guy here for?
Why are you here?
Last time I checked, it's the house of
Allah. Not my house, not your house. And
not that, you know, old man with a
beard who's sitting in the front row. That's
not his house. It is the house of
Allah azza wa Jal, and every person is
welcome.
You should feel like I can walk into
the Masjid,
right? And pray there, when I've just maybe
committed a sin. It is the house of
Allah. Allah wants you to come.
Number 3 guys,
a Tawba.
To constantly seek repentance and to say Astaghfirullah
Astaghfirullah Astaghfirullah.
My brothers and my sisters.
Right? My brothers and my sisters.
The messenger may peace and blessings be upon
him, will seek forgiveness 70 times in a
sittings.
And in some narrations a 100.
This is the messenger of Allah,
who had no sins.
If that's the case with him, don't you
think we
are in more in need of seeking forgiveness?
Us living in this sexualized society.
Right? That objectifies
and
sexualizes women, which is the biggest fitna for
men.
A toothbrush is being sold. Right?
Being what?
Advertise on a billboard, and you find a
half naked woman right next to it. What
on Earth does a woman got to do
with a toothbrush, guys?
This is what we are seeing. This is
what our eyes keep connecting to, and even
more so, on university campus.
You struggle to lower your gaze. I understand
the struggle, guys.
I know what's happening. It's not easy.
However, brothers and sisters, they say
I'll tell you guys something else. Right?
Whatever addiction it might be,
whether it is *,
whether it is you name it, and you're
infatuated,
you're struggling with that sin, try this
and I will guarantee you inshallah,
sooner or later you will be in a
better position.
The prophet told us about something called salatu
toba.
Some scholars they call it salatu toba. Where
every time you sin, you get up, you
make wiggle and then you pray.
Allah will forgive your sin. That's a burden
on the devil.
Every time you fall into that sin,
as a Noah he mentions
the great imam, even if it is a
1000 times.
Get up, make ablution, and then stop praying.
It's only a matter of time brothers and
sisters.
If Allah sees that good in you, he
will give you that good, but you need
to get up and start.
Right?
Shaitan will make you feel, oh, you dirty,
you're this, you're that. Look how all 3
are connected.
Salah, Tawba,
Masjid.
Number 4, guys,
to read Quran.
A little bit every day.
Right? You may say to me, I'm a
medicine student, pharmacy student, 6 years, 7 years,
I don't have time. I'm busy guy.
I ask you by Allah. Moving from one
lesson to another, you have 5 minutes. You
can't read.
You don't have that time to do so,
brothers and sisters. Look how Allah will bless
your life by having a relationship with the
Quran. And last but not least, my brothers
and our sisters, we have to seek knowledge.
A lot of people think that you only
seek knowledge if you want to become the
next scholar in Sheffield.
Or you want to become the next
khatib who gives the Khutbuz on Fridays? That
is a misconception.
Right?
Just about every sin that we fall into
stems off from 2 places, or 2 types
of fitna. Fitna to Shubuat, fitna to Shawat.
The fitna of doubts
and the fitna of temptations.
When you come to university my brothers and
my sisters, right? It is a breeding ground
for Kufar,
shirk,
all types of deviant ideologies,
a lot of colorful things, you name it.
It's a breeding ground. And by the way
guys, I'm not someone who incites violence or
harassment towards anyone.
Like I said, I'm a compassionate imam.
I spread peace.
I think everybody knows what I'm talking about
right. You find everything. You go into philosophy
class.
The professor
doesn't care whether you're a Muslim, or whether
you're a Jew or a Christian.
He doesn't care.
Right? He's there to target a person of
religiosity.
You come out extremely shaky because they
glorify
to be a critical thinker.
Or you end up you end up questioning
whether you yourself exist or not.
Knowledge brothers and sisters, when you equip yourself
with the correct tools, right? You'll be able
to what? Repel anything that's going to shake
you to the core. I've been to university
guys,
There would be non Muslims
around the same ages who are learning
our religion.
What? So you can become guided?
Right? So you can target vulnerable Muslims on
campus and start shaking them.
It was one of the things that really
made me think, shall I continue doing my
civil engineering course or should I go to
Medina?
It was a big sacrifice guys, like I
told you guys top 5.
Love is no joke.
And likewise, what?
Temptations.
Would you guys agree my brothers and masters
everything that we've maybe talked about in the
last
was an hour, 2 hours?
It has given us insight in how to
deal with the temptations.
This is ill, brothers and sisters.
We start off with learning a tawhid.
Right? Bettering and strengthening our relationship with Allah
And when you do that, you learn that
which is going to,
taint
the most precious thing that you can ever
come across,
or the most precious thing to you, which
is what? Your monotheism.
You learn about that and there are so
many intricates,
that will cause it to diminish, which will
taint your heart and your tawheed
that needs to be learned about.
Right?
May Allah bless every single one of you
guys. I apologize
if I went over the time.
I was still doing the q and a.
I think they're tired, Masakin.
Picharo.
Do you guys want a q and a,
or do you wanna go home?
I am absolutely exhausted. I've got another class
at 9:30. But go on.
Anyone who asks a dodgy question, I'm kicking
him out.
Are we just taking questions from the floor?
I think it's too late to do anything
electronically.
How you going? Ladies first.
Sorry, brother. Just looking at
you.
Go on sisters.
Can men and women just be friends?
Guys, I have a lecture on my YouTube
channel. It's called,
filthy fathers,
cheating husbands, and free mixing.
When you get a moment, please check it
out.
I talked about subhanAllah.
Well, or should I say,
I just read out first hand experiences
of both men and women,
who fell victim to free mixing or gender
mixing, whatever you wanna call it.
Innocently, they would open their doors for couples
to come in and to have innocent chit
chats over
tea. And before you know it,
the husband of the woman or the wife
who was cooking the tea in the kitchen.
He's gone upstairs and he's cheating on her
behind her back.
And while she's emailing to Islam q and
a. A website that all of you guys
are aware about.
And that is because one simple instruction was
not followed.
However, if Babutemia says, oh, you shouldn't do
this, you shouldn't do that. They look at
him, look at him, look.
Out of touch with reality,
backward minded,
where in 2022,
why don't you conform
to social pressures?
People, that's how they look at me.
That's fine. That's why I had to what?
Read out
first hand experiences, and
I thank Allah that the video went viral.
Alhamdulillah.
And go on. Sisters.
What was your relationship with Islam like when
you were our age?
What was my relationship with Al Islam
when I was your age?
That was a very long time ago.
How old do you guys think I am?
Okay, guys. Quieten down. Quieten down.
I'll tell you
guys. I'll tell you guys. I'm not gonna
tell you guys my age.
More than me.
Imam Shafi'i,
Mind your own business.
That's not something that I disclose. I don't
disclose my nationality likewise.
Or my age, You guys can keep on
guessing. There's always huge debate on the YouTube
videos. They can carry on. Right?
When I was around
13, 14 years of age,
I used to live in London. I was
there 5 years. Most of my
secondary school years was in London,
And I was not in a good place
guys. I really wasn't.
Because even once upon a time, subhanAllah, a
helicopter was chasing my 7 sisters road. Don't
ask me what I done.
I didn't get arrested.
May Allah forgive us all.
Right? So I was not in a good
place at all.
The last day of year 10,
there was
a big gang that came by
with knives.
They all had their weapons and whatever have
you.
And they were only looking for 1 person.
That was myself.
Because my tutor or my last class was
on the front of the school, I could
see who was outside.
It happened to be. I didn't walk outside.
I decided to jump outside
or at the back of the school
and got away.
My friend got shot, he passed away.
And that really made me think.
No one done anything.
No one done anything. It was only a
couple of days, yeah, we're gonna get them,
we're gonna do this, we're gonna do that,
no one done anything, and eventually they forgot
about him. And that made me think,
tomorrow if I get stabbed or something happens
to me, no one's going to do anything?
What am I fighting for?
At his Janaza, there was this
channel
that recorded me at the funeral crying
and it was broadcasted.
And my parents they saw this, subhanAllah.
And they were getting non stop phone calls
that Maghrib,
your son is part of them,
So they made the decision now to move
me
to. One thing that really really helped and
inshallah tell you guys as parents will be
like this.
The concern
that my parents always gave to the issue
of the Quran.
They always wanted me to memorize the Quran.
And perhaps maybe because of that concern,
we ended up taking a better path.
Right? I went to college
for 6 months,
even though I got very high grades in
GCSE.
I think I got something like 11
to 12, I think it was what?
A stars to C's,
Right?
It's pretty smart,
I went to college.
I did, I think, what, law,
accounting,
maths and physics.
However, in the January exam, I did absolutely
rubbish.
I think I got e's and d's and
f's and whatever have you.
How that happened? Allahu alaam.
Right? Wasn't so smart at all. Right?
And I looked back, SubhanAllah, and I think
to myself,
perhaps if that didn't happen,
I would have probably told myself, oh, you
should maybe
continue your studies.
Right? It was around that time, subhanAllah, I
was thinking about going abroad
to study.
And that's what ended up happening. I came
back. I went to Loughborough University.
I got in just after doing 1 year
of college. I did an access to engineering
course
even though I was still, you know, trying
with my Quran. My parents, they would always
push me towards the masjid,
memorizing Quran. I think some of you guys
know, right? I was a bit of a
bowler as well. Even once upon a time
had trials for West Ham.
I was extremely good.
Even the last time around when I came
to Sheffield,
my sister was taking her young children to
football training.
I know these kids, they always run their
mouth. Right?
Oh, you're rubbish, you're this, you're that.
And my sister caught on camera me not
making him.
And the video has gone viral in WhatsApp
groups.
So
I was just no different to you guys,
guys.
Why
just going to university, going to college, trying
to get an education,
but at the same time,
I had parents who would always push me
to the Quran. This is why guys, I
told you guys these five things.
If you hold on to it,
you will see goodness in front of you.
Yeah.
Sometimes, you know, someone may give a lecture
and they think to themselves,
right, there's that kind of like distance.
There's that
culture barrier, whatever you wanna call it, age
barrier lab brothers. We all come from the
same backgrounds.
Right? I don't see a difference between me
and you guys.
Don't be deceived by this jalabiya,
or this or whatever.
We come from similar backgrounds
and every single one of you guys can
do amazing things.
Every single one of you guys can do
amazing things. This is why I gave you
guys a little bit of insight of where
I came from.
Right? Some of you guys may have these
similar backgrounds,
and you can always accomplish a lot.
Right? Make dua. Wake up in the last
3rd of the night. Ask Allah to give
it out which is best. You can accomplish
that which the mind can't imagine.
Stop being your own enemy, telling yourself I
can't and I won't.
Yeah.
Alright. Next question.
So the brothers. Right? Is it I think
it's because he's older. Older.
You go outside of depletation. Yeah. Exactly.
As you know very well, pursuing
knowledge in the context of Islam is a
vast ocean.
And advice I've been told is to establish
the fundamentals in certain principles, remember some Quran,
and that's the building blocks.
How do you know
when you've established the building blocks, and what
steps to take next after that? Did everybody
hear that question?
So he's basically talking about, you know,
learning the sacred knowledge of the vast ocean,
and he's been told to get a bit
of Quran and to, you know, go for
the fundamentals.
How do you know when it's like enough,
Say?
Well, it's good to have a teacher. And
what to do after that as well? Okay.
It's good to have a teacher, 1st and
foremost.
A teacher who's going to direct you. Otherwise,
you'll just pick up other devices here and
there, and you might get extremely lost and
confused.
So to find a teacher,
right, who you know, Masha'Allah,
has knowledge
and he's wise in his decisions as well,
who can maybe inshallah
take you by the hand and guide you
to that which is correct. However, if you
can't, then I'll just quickly give you guys
maybe certain things to,
go through.
There are books in Tawhid, and Tawhid, my
brothers and my sisters, your monotheism is the
most precious thing to you.
Right?
That's the most important thing. I have a
lecture on my YouTube channel, it's called,
contemporary
and magic practices. I talked about that which
is extremely precious and important and why that
is. So to maybe go through books,
3
fundamentals,
right,
which just consists of ayat and hadith.
Right? To go through these books,
with a very well explained
explanation,
after going through that,
maybe study a couple of times, get a
couple of explanations in, and, you
can then move on to the next thing.
Try to go through some summarized text on
fiqh as well.
Summarized text on fiqh. Go through 40 hadith
of Imam and Nawi.
And then while you're doing all of this,
you're memorizing the book of Allah
Take maybe a little bit of Sira as
well. On the knowledge college, I'm an instructor
on there. They have a 1 year course.
Right? And there is a whole syllabus where
they take a bit of everything.
Okay? I'm one of the instructors on the
I teach Kitab Tawhid,
the book of a Tawhid monotheism.
And you guys are probably thinking, Tawhid,
right? It's very basic, I just need to
worship Allah. Right?
That's what a lot of people think. What
do you guys think of the zodiac signs?
Have you guys heard of
that
which,
zodiac signs, my brothers and my sisters, would
fall under the whole
issue of magical practices and whatever have you.
And of course, it varies in his or
what act or which category of sin he
actually falls into.
Right? So there are these kind of things,
subhanAllah,
that many people today have normalized. I get
a postcard that comes from my door from
time to time that says,
visit Babu
Ali.
And it's talking about if you and your
wife are going through difficulties, we have the
cure. We have the spells,
we have the potions.
Any hardship that you're going through, financial or
whatever have you, we have the answers, we
have this, we have that.
What time we even called
him? Pranked him.
And the whole idea behind doing so was
to expose him.
And he's a magician.
Right? If someone
has now been brought up watching Harry Potter,
right, or reading about Harry Potter, spell young,
has become so used to what? Magical spells
becoming something that is glorified and venerated.
Or he's watching
David Blaine,
Or what's the other one called Dynamo?
Sahih.
You also have Britain's Got Talent, we're sitting
around enjoying ourselves watching these magic tricks that
have become absolutely fine
with us. Sahib, we become desensitized to it.
And then once upon a time when he
grows older, he receives his letter after he's
going through depression and hardship.
What you think he's gonna do? He's gonna
call that number. Right?
Say, this
is why brothers and sisters to aid is
extremely important. There are so many intricacies that
we study in Kitab Tawhid.
Likewise, when it comes to grave worship,
when it comes to innovative practices,
put your hand up if once upon a
time you swore on your mom's life.
Let's be honest,
Sisters fear Allah.
Right?
That should be everyone here. I'll swear on
your dead man's grave.
I'll swear on your father's life.
Right? Touch down.
Did you know my brothers and my sisters
that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said
whoever swears but other than lies committed shirk?
You have major sins when a woman becomes
impregnated outside of marriage, the whole street is
talking about it. Right? They're gossiping.
This is a major sin. Murder is a
major sin. Then you also have major shirk.
Which is now you getting an act of
worship and diverting it to Abidul Allah.
In between that you have that which is
called a minor shirk.
Things like swearing,
on your dead man's grave,
on your mother's life.
SubhanAllah is, it's in a higher category than
major sins, that would shock
us, when we hear about it.
Are you brothers and sisters with me? The
prophet is saying, whoever swears rather than lies
commit a shirk. Put your hand up my
brothers and my sisters,
if as a youngster,
when you saw your friend walking through 2
poles
with a thing, he would say, he walked
through the batty man's legs.
And then what do we do? We punch
him, sir. You punch him. Just so he's
not struck with bad luck.
Bad luck. Good luck.
Guys, guys,
quieten down. Quieten down.
All of these things my brothers and my
sisters that we've become so desensitized to, or
we've normalized from a very young age.
Has an issue with the aqid, the belief
system itself.
Right? These bad luck, you know, numbers and
Or a black cat that now, you know,
walks past you, or in front of you,
or a mirror breaks inside of your house.
Bad luck for how many years? 7 years,
I think it is. Sahi?
Evil omens.
There are so many intricate guys.
This is why Kitabito is very important. I
teach it
and also because me once upon a time,
I visited a magician after I lost my
BlackBerry.
It's back in Yemen.
We used to pray our graves.
Once upon a time, I even prayed in
front of, I call it the acclaimed
grave of Hud alaihisattu waslam.
Because I was so ignorant, I seen everyone
praying in front of it. I thought, you
do the same thing when you go to
a masjid, I just started praying to it.
This is me guys, the guy who's standing
in front of you.
And we come from similar backgrounds.
I done it.
Well,
guys,
I I ended up falling into in that
first year when I went to Yemen, but
then I left, I went to a different
institute, Also my brothers and my sisters,
when I lost my Blackberry,
we were told to go to this lady
called Hababa Shifa.
Hababa means what does Hababa mean?
The beloved.
And then Shifa means cure.
The head principal told us to go to
her.
As soon as we went, me and my
my cousin, it was Ajib because he lost
his camera the same day. Right? We went
to her, the first thing that she asked
both me and him was, what's your mom's
name?
What's your grandmother's name? What's your dad's name?
And what's your granddad's name? She ended up
giving us a piece of paper that was
all wrapped up and she said don't open
it.
Getting creepy, right?
She gave this to us the next time
around when we came back to her, but
I already found my phone. So when we
went back, I was like, you know what?
Let me open it.
She said, don't open it. Go and put
it under a stone.
I decided to open it, guys. It had
some verses of the Quran that were all
scribbled.
It had all these weird lines and whatever
have you, over the statements of Allah.
That really freaked me out.
That freaked me out.
And then I went and I put it
on the stone.
My cousin did the same. The guy who
stole his camera and I witnessed this came
to him shaking. Here's your camera.
But some people will say to, oh, she
was a saint. She was a righteous woman.
Right? All of this we studied brothers and
sisters. Visiting a fortune teller. Right? These zodiac
signs and what do they call it? Star
signs as well.
Your star sign, your name, your date of
birth. Go on to Snapchat, you'll see it
all over it.
And how this comes in extremely extremely handy.
I know I went off there.
I think sisters turn right? Go on sisters.
Sorry, does that answer your question? I went
off a little bit.
Last one, yeah?
Hi, last one, sisters.
Sorry?
Short
question.
Short question. Seriously. I I think he's talking
about short answer. You want a short answer
for me?
Go on, sisters, quickly.
Our movie is halal.
Our movie is halal.
Let's be honest with ourselves, my sisters and
my brothers.
When you watch this movie, what do you
see?
You see half naked women, and you're looking
at the opposite gender that you begin to
fantasize over. Okay? You also hear music.
And in this movie, my brothers, what exactly
are they doing? They have all of these
love scenes.
You tell yourself, I'm not gonna look at
it, but you're still looking at them.
Finding
Nemo.
Brothers and sisters, from the bottom of my
heart, I love you all for the sake
of Allah. Honestly, to see how many people
came?
Maybe what? 400 or so, plus?
I don't know which one's better. Sheffield Hallam
or Sheffield?
No comment. No comment. I won't say anything.
The fact that you're okay, it shows there's
a lot of good in you guys. May
Allah bless you all.
