Abu Bakr Zoud – Reflections from the Revelation – EP03 – Temptation Trials
AI: Summary ©
The speaker discusses the concept of the prophet's (Salam) desire to seduce his wife and commit a "canon with him" to execute it. The shaytan's (among her) actions can lead to a "canon with him" that is recognized as evil and sinful. The segment also touches on the concept of shelling and its impact on behavior and behavior goals. The shelling concept is used as guidance and is associated with the desire to avoid sin.

Alhamdulillah wa salatu wa salamu ala Rasulullah wa
ala alihi wa sahbihi ajma'in.
As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Today I share with you a story from
the Qur'an, a part of a story,
of the story of a great prophet and
that is the prophet Yusuf alayhi as-salam.
Yusuf alayhi as-salam, of course Allah azza
wa jalla reveals an entire surah called surat
Yusuf and a lot of his story is
mentioned in this and there is one particular
aspect that I want to draw your attention
to and that is the moment in which
Yusuf alayhi as-salam was caught up in
a room with the wife of the king
of Egypt.
So that is going to teach us about
you and I, a person that is in
the face of a temptation, he faces an
evil desire, he faces a fitna and he
is alone with that and that is very
common today.
How do we put an end to this?
How can we exit and escape the situation
of fitna in front of us?
Of course today there is no doubt that
the majority of us have mobile phones and
almost every person has social media and if
you don't have social media, Facebook and Instagram
and TikTok and whatever it is, the internet
has become a world of garbage and filth
and * and haram and temptations and fitna
and sins.
So now if a person is alone with
a sin, is there a way out?
Can you escape from this or not?
Let's reflect on the story of Yusuf alayhi
as-salam and see what he did and
if we do the same thing, bi-idhni
Allah, this is how we can put an
end to our sins and escape from that.
Allah azza wa jal, He says,
Allah azza wa
jal, He speaks about the woman, the wife
of al-Aziz, the wife of the king
of Egypt because this is where Yusuf alayhi
as-salam was raised.
So one day, she had an evil intention.
She wanted to seduce Yusuf alayhi as-salam
and wanted to commit a zina with him,
والعياذ بالله, fornication, adultery.
So Allah azza wa jal, He says,
means that she went back and forth.
She was plotting, she was planning and she
wants to execute this.
She wants to do al-haram with Yusuf
alayhi as-salam and this is in her
house.
So what she ended up doing is, غَلَّقَتْ
She bolted the doors, she closed the
doors firmly.
And this is like now a person has
entered this situation in where he is one
on one with the sin.
And of course, the human being wants to
commit the sin by himself without anyone seeing
him.
So she closed the doors, she bolted them
down.
This emphasizes how much of a lock
she put on these doors.
And she approached Yusuf alayhi as-salam and
she said to him, هَيْتَ لَكْ And it
has been recited in many other variations and
it means a lot of things.
It means, I'm prepared for you.
I have prepared myself for you.
And it can also mean, come to me.
Now she's inviting him to al-haram.
She's inviting him to al-zina.
And that's the very same situation when someone
ends up in a room alone or with
a sin alone.
And now he's tempted and the sin calls
him.
That's the voice of a shaytan.
That's the evil whispering of a shaytan.
Then he begins to tell you, approach the
sin.
It'll be moments.
You'll enjoy.
You'll take satisfaction.
You see, the shaytan's role is to tempt
you.
So he's going to present the sin as
something beautiful, as something decorated.
That's the role of the shaytan.
That's what he is going to do, right?
He did this with our father Adam alayhi
as-salam.
When Allah azza wa jal forbid Adam from
eating from the tree, a shaytan said to
Adam, shall I direct you to a tree?
The eternal tree.
If you eat from it, you will both
become angels and you will remain in the
paradise forever.
You see what the shaytan did?
He took an evil, nasty sin and he
decorated it.
And he presented it so beautifully to Adam
alayhi as-salam.
And that's what the shaytan does until this
very day.
He takes the sin and he beautifies it
to mankind.
So you need to be careful of this.
Now this woman has beautified herself and she's
saying to him with lustful words, I am
prepared for you, come towards me.
Okay, in this moment and right at this
temptation, listen and pay attention.
Yusuf alayhi as-salam, he said, قَالَ قَالَ
He screamed and he said, مَعَاذَ
I seek refuge in Allah.
So we're learning that the first way to
overcome a sin, when you're at the moment
of committing this sin, is to seek refuge
in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Scream out, Allah,
الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ That's what مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ means.
You're seeking refuge in Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
You're seeking Allah's protection.
From what?
From this sin, from the evil whispers of
a shaytan.
You see, I'll tell you something.
Every time a believer approaches to commit a
sin, somewhere deep in your heart and in
your mind, there is something that is telling
you Allah is watching.
It's there, it exists.
Because if it doesn't exist, then you're a
disbeliever.
Because only the disbeliever believes that Allah is
not watching, doesn't even believe in Allah altogether.
But for a believer, somewhere there in your
heart, in your mind, when you approach the
sin, you know that Allah is watching.
So the idea is, don't suppress this feeling.
Don't suppress it.
Rather, bring it out.
At the moment of that sin, say to
yourself, Allah is watching me.
Doesn't
mankind know that Allah is watching?
Say yes.
Say, Allah, I know you are watching.
Say,
Say, استغفر الله at that moment.
There is no such thing as a bad
time to seek forgiveness.
There is no such thing as a bad
time to remember Allah.
In the midst of a sin, you might
think, oh, this is a bad time to
remember Allah because I'm engaging in something awful.
But who gave you that information?
Actually, that's the time you're supposed to remember
Allah because you're only committing this sin because
of your heedlessness of Allah عز و جل.
You moved away.
So that's the time you need to remember
Allah.
So utter the words, bring them onto your
So that Allah can save
you from the shaitan that is tempting you
towards this sin.
So this is what Yusuf عليه السلام did
and he's a prophet of Allah.
And this story is mentioned in the Qur
'an.
It's serving as guidance for you and I.
Seek refuge in Allah.
See,
Yusuf عليه السلام is saying this to himself.
So then
he says, it is my master.
What he's referring to is the husband of
this woman which is the king of Egypt.
He remembers him.
He says, no, no, no, I cannot do
this because this man أحسن مثوي He's looked
after me and he's taking care of me.
I can't now betray him and do what
you want.
And so the idea is, you remember when
you sin, you are sinning against Allah.
Say to yourself, Allah is my Lord and
He's always been good to me.
Why am I now violating Allah عز و
جل?
Why am I violating His commands?
Why am I doing something that He has
prohibited?
And then Yusuf عليه السلام said, إنه لا
success to the wrongdoers.
So now, you're having this interaction with yourself.
If I'm going to do what I'm going
to do, that makes me a wrongdoer.
That makes me a ظالم against myself.
And remember the reality that Allah never gives
success to the wrongdoers.
So that now is powerful to start to
cool down this burning sensation for a desire
within your nafs.
It starts to cool down.
You've remembered Allah.
You've remembered the goodness that Allah عز و
جل He's bestowed upon you.
And you're remembering the fact that Allah عز
و جل doesn't grant success to the wrongdoers.
She had a desire and a
lust and a concern for Him.
And
there are many interpretations for this part of
the ayah.
Allah عز و جل said, And he, Yusuf
عليه السلام, was concerned and he desired her
had he not seen a sign from his
Lord.
What is this sign?
Some say his father appeared in
front of him as an image.
But the point is, us too, there are
always signs that Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى will put
in front of us.
You know the fact that you just feel
in your heart that Allah is watching, that
is enough to deter you and to keep
you away from this sin.
Allah عز و جل He said, كَذَلِكَ لِنَصْرِفَ
And that's how we moved
away from Him, evil and adultery.
We moved it away from Him.
Verily, He is from
the righteous sincere slaves of ours.
And so we learn here, make this dua
and say, Oh Allah,
Oh Allah, turn away
evil and haram relationships from me and make
me from among the sincere slaves.
We're coming to the end.
Allah Azzawajal said, وَاسْتَبَقَ الْبَابِ Yusuf Alayhi Salaam
began to run to the door and she
ran after him.
What does that mean?
Means now, once you've awakened yourself with the
remembrance of Allah, get up from that place
of sin and move away.
Like what Yusuf Alayhi Salaam did.
He didn't just sit there and repeat the
words.
He got up and he literally ran to
the door.
Move away from the place of sin.
Because where you thought about the sin, this
is a place that you were overtaken by
heedlessness.
This is a place where the shaitan came
to you and tempted you to do something
haram.
So move away from it.
Like Yusuf Alayhi Salaam, he ran.
She grabbed his shirt from behind and
she ripped it.
And this implies the strength of the shaitan
pulling you back to commit the sin.
It's gonna be very difficult.
But you need to keep going forward and
not looking back.
The temptation to go back, to do that
sin and fulfill it and achieve it is
going to be strong.
But hang there and be patient because look
what happens.
All of a sudden the
door opened and the man, her husband was
standing at the door.
What does that mean?
That's relief.
Relief, that's it.
The temptation is gone.
The desire is finished.
The temptation to do this sin is finished.
It doesn't exist anymore.
خلاص, it's all done.
You see, between having the absolute
temptation to fall into the sin and being
relieved from that situation was a couple of
seconds, was a couple of meters from that
place to the door and the relief of
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala came.
And that's your situation as well.
Move, move, call someone.
Move away.
If it was a mobile phone, if it
was a screen, if it was a casino
you're sitting in, a gambling, a machine, whatever
it is, move away from there.
If it was alcohol, if it was a
drug, move away from it and relief will
come straight away.
Allah azawajal, He says,
My brothers and sisters in Islam,
when a person does that, Wallahi, don't ever,
ever think.
Don't ever think you walk away empty-handed.
Don't think, oh, you know, I just lost
an opportunity of a temptation that I could
have been a little bit excited and happy
with.
I lost that.
Don't ever think that.
You know, you walked away with renewed iman,
with taqwa in your heart that has been
built because that's how taqwa is built when
you keep away from the prohibitions and you
walk away with a good deed.
was concerned to do a sin and then
he left it, Allah would record it for
him, one complete hasana.
Look at the goodness that you
achieve.
So this is a practical solution,
to help you overcome the sins and the
temptations and the addictions in your life.
We ask Allah سبحانه وتعالى to grant us
goodness.
