Today's Quranic wisdom,
Surat Al Qasas verse 78.
Wa ahsin
kama ahsanallahuilayk.
Be generous
to others as Allah has been generous to
you.
Waasin
kamaahasanallahuilayk.
Has not Allah given you so much?
Has not Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala guided you,
gave you health, gave you wealth, gave you
family, gave you all that you could have
asked for. So as Allah has been generous
unto you, you as well be generous unto
others.
And in fact, the context of this phrase,
there's even more benefits and wisdoms to be
placed.
This phrase occurs as an advice
to Qaroon,
one of the wealthiest people in all of
human history.
And Qaroon is told in the Quran.
Allah has given you a lot of wealth.
The wealth that Allah has given you,
secure with it
the dar of the hereafter.
Invest in the ultimate
abode.
All of this that Allah has given you,
your priority should
be to build a house in the akhira.
You know, in this dunya, we are taught
one of the biggest goals is to own
your own house. We are taught to be
successful
in a capitalist society is that you must
eventually pay off your loans and be debt
free and own your own house. And Allah
tells us in the Quran,
the priority you should have is to build
a house for you in the akhira.
All that Allah has given you, use it
to build a house in Jannah.
And by the way, the price of the
house in Jannah,
it is not set
in one particular number. No.
Every single person
can afford the largest plot regardless of how
little or how small they have.
Because in the eyes of Allah, it's not
your credit card that's gonna come in handy.
It's not your money. In the eyes of
Allah, it is your ihsan and good deeds.
So whatever Allah has given you, this is
one of the beauties of our religion.
Whatever
Allah has given you, you can
purchase the largest plot in Jannah, and have
the largest
house in Jannah. If you're born wealthy or
you're born poor, if you're born in a
royal family or you're born in a peasant
family, if you're born in this part of
the world, that part of the world, it
doesn't matter.
In terms of access to Jannah, we are
all equal
because the price
of that plot in Jannah will vary from
me to you to the person next to
you. And everyone will be asked what they
can give. So Allah is telling Qaroon,
whatever you have, you can purchase the dawr
of the akhira. And then Allah reminds him,
walatansa
nasibaka
mina dunya. How beautiful,
how calming and soothing for the believer.
And don't forget,
you have your share of this dunya as
well. You see, we have a practical religion.
We have a religion that you can live
by, breathe by. By. We have a religion
that allows you to be successful in this
dunya in order to be successful in the
akhira.
Oh, Qarun, you have a naseeb. Naseeb means
a fraction, a percentage, which means
the more you have that's halal, the more
you can enjoy, no problem. The more that
Allah has given you, the more you can
enjoy this dunya, no problem. You have a
naseeb, and this naseeb, naseeb, it is healthy,
it is pure. There is no sin on
you to attain your naseeb of the dunya.
In fact, our Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
encouraged us to live in this dunya in
a dignified manner. He wanted us to live
and eat and dress in a manner that
is
in accordance with what Allah has given us
in a famous hadith that a man came
very disheveled, very dirty clothes, and the prophet
knew that he had wealth. So he asked
him, do you not have some wealth? He
goes, yasya ir Rasulullah,
I have this, and I have this, and
I have this. So the Prophet salallahu alaihi
wa sallam said, Allah loves to see the
effects of his nima on a person. Allah
loves to see that when Allah has blessed
you, don't dress in this shabby manner. This
is from the sunnah and shari'ah. A man
came to the Prophet salems and said, You
Rasulullah,
is it arrogance if I wanna dress in
a nice clothes, if I wanna wear a
nice tote, if I wanna have a nice
garment, and you all know the response.
Innallaha
jameelun yuhbbul jamal Allah is beautiful and he
loves beauty. Arrogance is to reject the truth.
Arrogance is not about dressing nicely and wearing
good perfume. This is not arrogance. You dress,
and you live, and you eat in accordance
with how Allah has blessed you. Walatansa
naseebaka mina dunya. This is an explicit command
that, oh, people of this of this world,
don't worry. This world, you have a naseeb,
but naseeb also means a fraction.
Don't make the dunya your ultimate goal.
Don't make it the whole of the fraction.
Nasib, don't forget your fraction of this world.
This world is not our permanent abode, and
so, kharun is told the primary purpose of
your wealth,
your rizq,
build the house of the akhira. But as
you're living here, go ahead and don't forget
your naseeb of the dunya. And in fact,
the Quran has very explicit verses about dressing
in a good manner and eating good food.
Allah says,
Who can possibly make haram? Allah is asking
rhetorically, it is not haram. Who can make
it haram? What?
Zinata, the beautiful cloth that Allah
created for His servants, and the good food
that they eat, the tayibaat of the riz.
Who has made this haram? Allah is challenging,
how can anybody make haram, what I created
for my servants? Allah created the tayibaat, and
Allah created the pure for his servants. And
that's why it is the sunnah of the
prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam to dress in
accordance with his people and to look dignified
when the delegations would come, when the foreign
dignitaries would come. He would dress up to
make istighbal to to greet them, and he
would eat whatever food was presented, and he
would love to eat, alhamdulillah, 1 sunnah, we
all love. He would love to eat meat,
mashallah tabarakallah.
And meat was a scarcity,
It was difficult, and he loved to eat
meat to show us this religion is not
about getting rid of the dunya for no
reason.
But then also don't forget
After this whole commandment, the primary focus of
what Allah has given you should be the
akhirah.
Yes. Don't forget your share of this world.
And then, O Quran,
be generous to people as Allah has been
generous to you.
This is a rule, a maxim, a Quranic
wisdom we should always keep in mind, whatever
Allah has given us, we should share, whether
it is our time, whether it is our
wealth, whether it is even our demeanor,
smiling in the face of your brother is
sadaqa, and when we give khidma unto others,
when we help others,
helping others
makes our lives feel ennobled.
There is no nobility.
There is no khidma that is greater after
the worship of Allah than helping
unto others, Allah will give back unto us.
When we are struggling, when we need something,
the sharia teaches us, even when you're needing,
give to others, and Allah will give unto
you. If you need something, you actually should
contribute whatever your situation is in helping others.
Allah will help you. Our Prophet sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam, said, wallahu fiaawnilabdi
madamalabdu
fiaawni akhihi Allah
will continue helping
you as long as you are helping other
people. So if you're in need, if you
need something, the best way to get it
is to be helpful to other people in
something that they need. Suppose you need something,
riz, whatever it might be, but Allah has
blessed you with time. Allah has blessed you
with something else. Be charitable in what Allah
has given you. Help other people that are
in need. And when you help other people,
Allah's Ihsaan will come back to you. And
subhanAllah, we know from our own lifestyles, brothers
and sisters, that when we get involved in
helping other people, it actually alleviates the pain
of our heart. We all are undergoing stress.
We all have pain.
When we help others in need, that pain
inside of us, it is diminished. We feel
a sense of nobility and helping, and in
that, we find true servitude to Allah. So,
O Muslim, waasin kamaasanallahuilay,
be generous, and Allah will be generous more
unto you. And one final point from this
same concept here, Abu Bakr as Siddiq radiAllahu
an.
When he was told to forgive the one
who had done him wrong, he was said
he was told in the Quran that, walyaafuwalyasfahu
alatuhibbuonaanyafirallahu
lakum. Why don't you forgive others? Don't you
know Allah will forgive you by forgiving others?
So that same concept is there. You give
Ihsaan, and Allah will give Ihsaan back to
you. May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala make us
of the muhsinin, and isha'il will continue tomorrow.
