Yasir Qadhi – Wisdom in the Quran #01 The Reality of Hikmah

year's topic is going to be Quranic wisdoms and hikma to men of Quran, Quranic Maxim's and wisdoms,
and today will be an introductory lecture about the reality of wisdoms and its relationship with the

what is this concept of hikma? The word hikma comes from the Arabic hacker. And it's a very
interesting word, because the real meaning of hacker is to control and that's why all the Arabs know
what you call a ruler Hakim. So the ruler is called Hakim and wisdom is hikma. What is the
relationship between ruler and wisdom? Because frankly, many rulers don't have wisdom. Right? So why
is ruler coming from the same concept as wisdom? Because this is very profound, just like the Hakim
controls the people politically, so to wisdom controls you ethically and morally, just like the
		

			hacking controls with law controls with the Army hikma controls with knowledge. So the root of hikma
is to control and hikmah is the knowledge that controls you from acting foolishly. So this is why
Allah is telling us to learn. Hey, come up. Now what what does hikma imply in the Quran and Sunnah
Ibn Abbas made an interesting tafsir Ibn Abbas said hikma is to act correctly upon a correct
knowledge in the correct time and in the correct method. In other words, you know the truth. You act
upon the truth and you do it in the right time and the right place. That is what hikma is. So where
do we learn hit come up from hikma obviously has many sources and obviously all of them go back to
		

			Allah and Allah gives hikma directly and Allah gives hikma indirectly. Once again, hikma is direct
and hikma is indirect by direct I mean you have it you didn't do anything. Allah gave it to you.
Allah says in the Quran, what are called the artania Lokmanya. What Al hikma we gave Lokman hikma
Allah chooses people to give hikma to wa t now hochma sabia we gave you a higher wisdom. Even as a
child we gave Risa wisdom even as a child. So this is direct wisdom from Allah. But you can also
attempt to acquire wisdom and Allah might give it to you indirectly as well. How does one acquire
wisdom? Three points we'll mention today. Number one, wisdom is acquired from the knowledge of the
		

			Quran and the Sunnah, and this is what we're
		

			We're going to be doing in this series over here. Wisdom is acquired by studying the Quran. That's
why Allah azza wa jal mentions the Quran has certain hikma the Quran has verses and wisdom and Allah
says to the wives of the Prophet, remember what wisdom was taught in your households. So turning to
the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and learning is wisdom. The
Prophet CISM said to Ibn Abbas, he may dua to Allah, Allah Houma. Elimelech matter what will of
Allah teach him wisdom and will and this means teach him the Quran and the interpretation of the
Quran. So the first source of hikma that you can try to obtain remember, the actual source is Allah,
		

			Allah can give it to you without asking, but what if you don't have it? You want to acquire it, you
ask Allah and then you undertake a journey, the first step of that journey, learning our tradition,
the Quran and the Sunnah is the ultimate hikma the second to apply Islamic rulings in your life will
bless you with wisdom. This is a profound point. When you act like a Muslim, live like a Muslim.
When you absorb the ethical values of Islam and start acting in accordance with those values. Allah

wisdom and by the way, this is very simple and true. The Sharia tells you haram and halal when you
apply the Haram and halal you are applying wisdom in your life and you are acting with wisdom. So
automatically you will gain more wisdom you will restrain yourself from what you want to do because
you know it is unwise. And so by living your life as a Muslim, you will actually become wise this is
		

			the second mechanism. And then the third wisdom is also found anywhere and everywhere. Wisdom is
found amongst people who don't believe in God wisdom is found as the famous tabula Qatada said it is
possible and utter jaw Hill will teach you wisdom simply by your interacting he doesn't know its
wisdom, but you will acquire wisdom from Him. Wisdom can be found in the creation from animals even
it can be found in people who are researching any topic and this is why we have a hadith it's a

non Muslims benefited from the knowledge of non Muslims and he benefited and he told us specific
		

			things about knowledge that he benefited from them, as I've explained in other lectures, so these
are three sources of ACHEMA number one, studying the Quran and Sunnah. Number two, living your life
and applying the teachings of the Sharia. And number three, any other source that has wisdom and we
conclude with a very profound point and that is, Allah Himself is Al Hakim, and Allah is Akram al
Hakim in and ALLAH SubhanA wa Tada is the source of hikma Allah's Name and Hakeem means that all
hikma comes from Him, and ALLAH SubhanA wa Taala has described himself with wisdom through hikma and
Allah azza wa jal says actions are wise and Allah has different revelation is wise. And so ultimate
		

			wisdom comes from Allah subhanho wa taala. And so when Allah describes the Quran, what phrase is
used to describe the Quran, the Quran is described as HC Mattoon Baliga the most profound wisdom
This is the description of the Quran. Hey Cameroon believer the Quran is the utmost wisdom. And so
this series which we're beginning today, we're going to be taking phrases from the Quran that are
wise phrases the whole Quran is wise, but there are certain phrases we can benefit from even more
we're going to be taking every day one particular phrase, one particular snippet and we're gonna be
explaining what the wisdom we can derive from the Quran is May Allah subhana wa Tada blessed us with
