Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa salam says that when Allah wants good for somebody, he gives him understanding in his Deen in his faith in his religion.
And this is something that we attest to. Every single time we stand up to pray and we recite Surah Al Fatiha, what's the one thing that we asked for is the NSA autonomous destiny? Guide us we asked for guidance. So religious understanding is categorically different from understanding anything else. Sometimes we get a little sloppy and we say, well, you know, Islam is all about seeking knowledge. And, you know, that includes medicine and becoming a doctor and engineer and these things, those things are good too. But we should be careful and we should really pause before conflating understanding the religion, the deen and understanding things that have to do with the
dunya
because understanding the deen has compound benefits, right? It has benefits of an entirely higher order than the things that we understand that have to do with the dunya. And this is found another Hadith one of my personal favorites, where the Prophet sallallahu sallam said that all the creation asks forgiveness for the island. The person who understands their religion had to hold back even the fish in the sea. Because somebody who understands their religion, they're going to have a positive impact on all of creation. Everyone around them, their kids, their spouse, their families, their relatives, their community, the trees, the grass, the kids, you know, the kids in school, the school
board, every single part of their community is going to benefit from that person because our deen is comprehensive. Islam has guidance for everything. And it has something to say about everything, and it puts everything in its proper place. So if one of the signs of Allah wanting good for a person or approving of a particular person is that a lot enables a person to have understanding and understanding is very different from just being able to regurgitate and memorize and reproduce. Understanding is making it all fit together. And that's something that takes tofi from Allah, some of that takes a law granting that success.
