Now,
my dear brothers and sisters,
we live in a time where we are different fads, new trends, new fashions, different philosophies about how to live our lives.
They are those that tell us that we should enjoy our lives as much as possible, that everything is permissible, everything is okay. As long as you are enjoying yourself, then enjoy your life, do whatever you want to do those who say, live a very minimalist life, don't take too much only use what you can. And you see that this is something that's very popular as well, just having the bay, you know, minimum of clothes and shoes. And I'm sure that if we went to our homes now, and we were to open our wardrobes and our cupboards, there would be many things there that we do not need. So maybe there's some truth in that philosophy to life. They are those that say that we need to live a
life that is centered only on our country or our nationality or ethnicity. And there are many people following that philosophy, and so on and so forth. The question we need to ask ourselves is what is the philosophy of life taught to us by Allah subhanho wa Taala and the messenger of the messenger Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam? How does Allah want us to live our lives, every human has his or her own perspective, about what is best for me what is best for my family, what is best for my community, look at some of the most dominant philosophies, theories, ideologies in the last 101 150 years, communism, capitalism, globalism, and the list of isms continues and goes on. And some of
them have found some success, but there have been failures in many other aspects of life. Some of them have been successful in creating, you know, prosperity for the society, but at the expense of people's spiritual well being. And we can flip that around as well, when people have become so dogmatic so you know, obsessed with implementing the literal, you know, the black and white meaning of the ticks, and that has led to people living lives that are also constricted, if not spiritually or emotionally, then definitely economically. But Allah subhanho wa Taala tells us in solitude,
that he has perfected our religion for us and completed his nirma upon us, that means that what he has sent as guidance means that every aspect of our lives if we were to implement the Quran and the Sunnah in it, we would find that we would be content, we would be happy, and we will reap the greatest benefits, and we will reduce the harm in all of it to so that it becomes almost, you know, as if it didn't exist.
These are philosophy that all of us are familiar, anyone who has read the last few verses of Surah Al Baqarah. Anyone who is read this, read the translation, or just merely you know, heard it in passing a philosophy that is simple, it is a constitution, there is only two words, a way of living your life. two phrases, Samir Anna well, Karina, we are and we obey a philosophy of life that were we to implement it will lie here we will live the best lives in this dunya and we will achieve Allah subhana wa
Tyler's eternal pleasure, we will attain that reward that he has, that he has prepared for those that will make these two phrases, though they philosophy in life. So Marina, we're apart I know, when Allah subhanho wa Taala revealed the last few verses of Surah Al Baqarah, Allah subhanho wa Taala revealed in those verses, that even if we were to hide what our hearts concealed or make it apparent, Allah would hold us accountable for it. I want you to think of that. It's easy to understand that if I pray if I give my czaka or conversely, if I committed sins, and I rebelled against the commands of Allah, that I will be held accountable for that, oh, I would be rewarded for
my good deeds. But it is so difficult to understand that even the evil thoughts that I have, Allah would hold me accountable for
I'm alone, I'm thinking of committing a sin. This idea, it's literal meaning says that Allah will hold me accountable for that. How many times have we grappled with our faith, without even questioning certain realities that we are apparently supposed to take for granted, but we are all human beings. shavon does whisper from time to time, if it is not about something regarding Allah subhanho wa Taala. Still, he then is divinity or his existence, then it might be something about the book of Allah, or you might read something on the internet questioning something about the Sierra of the messenger or something similar. So even those doubts that we have will be accountable for the
companions, felt as we are now feeling.
And when they had these questions, they immediately went to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, because when they didn't understand the book of Allah, they never went to a website called, you know, x, y, Zed. You know, what can I find? There's an answer. And many of these websites have a handle law have been specifically designed by non Muslims to misguide Muslims, you going online, you're looking for a particular fatwa. And if you don't know what's reliable out there, you will go to these websites, and they will create more doubts. I deal with this all the time. I have a lot of young students, you know, from the ages of seven, all the way, you know, to the early 20s, and many
of them are faced with this reality. almost daily, I get questions from people studying overseas Malaysian boys and girls, men or women studying at universities around the world check today. My professor mentioned this in class. You know, today, one of my you know, my classmates said this, and I don't have an answer, you know, how do I answer this? So this is the challenge we face May Allah subhanho wa Taala keep the hearts of our youth steadfast. And may Allah subhanho wa Taala guide them to the halfway point they may be. But this is the reality that we face that these questions come up. So the Sahaba they went to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, they sought the
answers to these perplexing questions with the Messenger of Allah. So they say the eldest of Allah, Allah ordered us to pray. And we we prayed to pay our Zakah we paid our soccer to strive in the path of Allah in jihad, and we did that. But this year,
learn how to ha that's not something that we could do. We just don't have that ability. How do you keep your mind and your heart free of doubt and you know, evil intentions all the time? You it's not humanly possible. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to them, are you going to be like those who came before you? Those who said something? I know what I'm saying. We and we disobeyed. We only have to read the story of Islam in the Quran. To see so many examples of Musa alayhis salam commanding them on behalf of Allah and for them to dis obey for them to turn their backs on Moosa Allah orders you to enter from this particular gate to this entrance. No, no you and your load go
and fight there, on the audience you to slaughter a cow to sacrifice it. No, no, no, what kind of cow? how big should this cow be? What color What is it the young cow and old cow excuses. And in many cases, just plain disobedience and rebellion.
So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says, And Allah says this, but rather we should say, Samir Anna, Aparna or Veronica robina. were illegal mahseer we, and we obeyed. And we seek your forgiveness here Allah Allah forgive us. And what does Allah subhanho wa Taala say the Prophet tells us that if we say these words and we act according to them, then Allah subhana wa tada will never hold us accountable for that which our heart whispers or our souls whisper to us, that we do not have to worry about those evil thoughts that we have or those doubts that we sometimes have to deal with and grapple with but we need to say
Samira Anna, Anna. And then secondly live according to that, because the statement is empty without actions. I may tell my wife that I love her hotel, my children that I love them. But if I don't follow that up with actions, they will become meaningless and empty for them. And so we must be those who say something right now. And it is seen in our character and our actions, our friends and family and our colleagues, they will say now that is a person who walks the walk walks the talk, someone who does as they, as they say, I want to share with you two examples from the life of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, there will help us to understand the consequences of
not hearing and obeying.
The first of these examples we are all familiar with the Battle of
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had stationed a troop of arches on a hill. They were supposed to protect the flanks and the rear of the Muslim army, so that the cavalry or the army of the operation could not double back or surround them or attack them from the flank or from the rear. And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gave them clear instructions.
You can't get them clearer than this, my dear brothers and sisters, clear instructions. You do not need to read Sahih Bukhari and the you know, the explanation of evenhandedness Kalani to truly understand what the prophet meant when
he said, Do not leave your station. Whether or not you see us winning or losing, regardless of the situation, until I call for you. What is ambiguous about that.
Don't leave, regardless of what you see happening, or what you see unfolding in front of you. If it is victory, you remain there. If it is defeat, if you see that even if you see that we are being attacked and massacred on the battlefield. You don't move until I call for you.
So the Sahaba they patiently guarding and obeying the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. And then they see that the Muslim army is beginning to advance, they are beginning to show signs of victory. And then finally they see the army of the Qureshi turn and flee the battlefield, leaving behind all of the spoils of war, like armor and weaponry and horses, and so behind Allah and the hearts of mankind, the weak, and they see that the other Sahaba are now going to get their share of the spoils. And if they remain on the mountain, he will lose out.
We have that challenge every single day.
Every single day, we make a choice between the dunya and the commands of Allah and His messenger.
Every day we have a scenario where there is a meeting, and it's going to continue through the work of the hub. What do I do? This is an amazing business opportunity. If I don't go to this meeting, I'm going to lose out millions of ringlets.
Every day, we have to make this choice, whether it's with our wives and our families, or it's our businesses, whatever it might be, but we have to make that choice every day the dunya or the commands of Allah and His messenger. So we are in no position to judge these companions. And Allah subhanho wa Taala forgives them.
We don't have that guarantee. And we ask Allah subhana wa tada overlooks our shortcomings and forgives us too.
But we can understand why they disobeyed the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. But what are the consequences of that disobedience? Because when they live their post, call it even Waleed, who at that time was in charge of the cavalry have offered for the Quraysh it wasn't the Muslim. He saw this opportunity, took the cavalry split from the rest of the army, and then came and surrounded the Muslims, when the rest of the Qureshi army understood that they will no longer or that holiday Meanwhile, he was pursuing the Muslims from the rear they turned and the Muslim army was now facing an enemy on two sides.
And that day 70 companions of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam died. We went from a from one a moment of victory, being on the cusp of victory, to having 70 of the Muslim soldiers killed. Why? Because we disobeyed the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says in the Hadith, that Allah subhanho wa Taala will cause humiliation to fall upon a people who go against my command.
And we only have to look at the Muslim world today. I know what you said this kind of self
reflection or this looking at our situation, wherever we may come from in the Muslim world, it is a sad, you know, it's a it's an indictment of who we are. But it allows us to put the text of the Quran and the Sunnah into practical perspective, so that we can now ask ourselves, what is the reason for this weakness and humiliation that we experience. And this is a reason
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gives us a command, and we find a host of excuses for why we can't implement that.
When I was, you know, 18 or 19, my parents suggested that I should go and memorize the Quran. And at the beginning, I must be honest, that I wasn't very enthusiastic about it. You know, I thought, why Chrono? Why would you want me to memorize the Quran. But while I was there, there were many of my friends who would mock my my beard, and they would walk, you know, many aspects of what I was doing, and I was going to the Salah, and they were, you know, making fun of me. And a lot of those people went to go and study with me at the University of Medina as well. And again, they, you know, the mocking and the jokes continued.
And none of them graduated. now than they finished their studies. None of them, you know, went on to do anything. You know what the, some of them finished the two years of Arabic, but many of them never went on to do anything after that. What's the point of that? They made fun of the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, they made fun of those who practice the Sunnah. And when I talk about the sooner I'm not talking about the beard now, the prophet prayed five times a day, that is also the sooner the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam fostered the month of Ramadan, and that is the Sunnah of the Prophet was an excellent husband. And that was the sooner and the last year we can
continue all day.
So when we disregard the Sunnah, we disregard the commands of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. We will suffer humiliation in one shape or form. And we ask that Allah subhanho wa Taala protects us. This first example is an example of worldly, of a worldly catastrophe befalling us, if we do not say Sameer, and Aparna and act according to it. The second example is the example of Caribbean Malik or the Aloha.
It's an example of procrastination.
It's an example of saying insha Allah, but not an insha Allah of SIDS and EClass but in sha Allah of disbelief, you know, I'm lazy, and hopefully I'll have the willingness to do this later in life. So how do we learn this? The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam admonished and encouraged these companions to spend and prepare for the Battle of the book or the expedition to the book, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam told them to spend and give, get your riding animals, get your armor, get your weapons, we will be leaving soon. And cabin Malik, like many of the Sahaba started his preparations for the battle garden, getting his riding animals, his food, his provisions, his
armor. In fact, later, he would say that out of all of the expedition and battles, this was the one for which I was the best prepared.
But when the army left, his dates, what are the trees
because the Prophet left in summer, and this was the time of the harvesting of the dates. So he said in sha Allah, I leave tomorrow, maybe the dates will will ripen and they'll be ready for harvest. And then another day went past. He said, inshallah I leave tomorrow, I'll join I can still make it. I can still make it. These are amazing words. They teach us so much. Because everyone here everyone sitting or standing believes that we have so much of life to live. That is so many years ahead of us in sha Allah one day, there is this you know, this attitude in South Africa, especially in Cape Town, that you only start coming to the masjid five times a day off the Hajj. So why don't you
perform hives now it is expected that the * we might see him in the masjid how does that person know that he or she especially he will live to be able to perform Hajj.
So he said another day and as the days went by, he kept on saying, inshallah, good to join, I'm going to join I'm going to leave I'm going to leave until finally it became impossible. There was no way that he was going to meet up with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in time. So he resigned himself to his faith. And then he would walk while you're waiting for the prophet to come back he would walk out into the streets of Medina and he would see only women and only old men and only people that had excuses excuses physical excuses or excuses regarding
They finances they didn't have enough to join the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and he knew in his heart that he had no valid excuse. So he went to his family and he said, What am I going to tell the Messenger of Allah when he comes back? advise me, tell me, what am I going to do? They said, Why don't you do what everyone else does? When the Prophet comes back from an expedition, they make excuses, they go, some of them lie to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam like the winner if you're poor.
And he thought about that.
And he thought about speaking the truth. And when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam came back to Medina, the munaf Yoku, the hypocrites they came.
They all came in made the excuses Yasuo la my family out or pseudo la my my my business yet also allowed my health and whatever the excuse was, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam accepted the excuses. And he asked Allah to forgive them. And he said, Allah, Allah knows what is in your heart, meaning Allah Allah knows if you are truthful or if you are lying, but I leave that to Allah subhanho wa Taala. So Gabi but Malik was called and the prophets Allah lies and called him and in Arabic, you know the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam smiled at him the smile of an angry person. Have you ever had someone smile at you, but they were angry? I think our parents are the best at
this. Our parents are most qualified to do this angry smile. The prophets of Allah Islam, of course, was not pleased. Why? Because copy when Malik had the reputation, that he had been with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam before that he had sacrificed that he had made, you know, considerable effort to join the Prophet. So what is this? This is new, the Prophet asked about the metabolic waste copy been manic, why is he not here? Because it was expected that he would be there. So he said, you're also Lola.
Everyone else gives gave you excuses. And I knew that if I was to give you an excuse you would accepted like you accepted from them.
But I, I felt that if I spoke the truth,
that Allah subhanho wa Taala might provide for me a way out.
The two things I want to mention in ending of the first is that he understood the consequences of his disobedience of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam because for the next 50 days, the profit audit that the Muslim community boycott, kababayan Malik and two other companions, no one wants to greet them. No one wants to interact with them. And later the Prophet would order that they live separate from them. And so for 50 days, imagine you walk out into the masjid and you say Assalamu alaykum. People just stand there.
You go into the market. Assalamu alikum.
People look away. You go you speak to your wife, your wife says no, she just walks in she she can't talk to you. Your children do the same. Your best friends, your family members. Imagine 50 days of this, to understand that. So if this is what happened to someone who disobeyed the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam regarding something in which he truly believed he had a legitimate reason for any you know, he felt justified in his decision. What about those of us who dis obey the prophets, Allah lower, I think he was setting up knowingly, we know we are wrong, we know that we are openly rebelling against his command. What then, is our relationship with Allah subhanho wa
Taala. If this is this is the situation of a man of a group of men who had, in a belief, legitimate reasons for their disobedience. And the second thing I want you to remember is that he knew
this is the other side of the coin, that if I follow this sooner, if I tell the truth, even though it's going to be difficult, and I have to deal with the consequences, if I say submit to authority, a year and I obey I will be truthful as Allah commands me in the Quran, even if it be against myself and as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam commands as well. That alone will make a way out for me, even if I have to go through difficulty before that. And that is the last lesson that I want us to ponder about. That even though those 50 days Allah describes it in the Quran, they felt that the world had become constricted. Their hearts were in a state of you know, despair. 50 days of that,
but finally the Farage and the Nussle of a lucky him and Allah subhanho wa Taala forgave them and he pardoned them and in our yard that we still read to this day in Salatu Toba so I want you I want myself to know and I want you to know that you say is America, okay? I know it's difficult. It has consequences to act accordingly creates obstacles and difficulties in life but
akeeba to deal with 13 those who practice it those who say it, they will ultimately have the best outcome and how can they be a better outcome than the one promised by Allah subhanho wa Taala because for these people they will be jedna and there will be no greater reward than Jenna We ask Allah subhanho wa Taala to make us of those who say you know what your Allah grant us to be of those who learn and study your commands and implement them in every aspect of our lives. We also have Allah subhanho wa Taala guide us to the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in everything that we do and then we say barakallahu li walakum pukalani lousy Manasa and Eva Jacobi
Murphy human it was declared Hakeem akoto mata smartone Westerfield Lucha Li walakum wa Lisa il Muslim Minami Colombian festal Pharaoh who inner who who will go for Rahim.
Alhamdulillah
Allah Masha Allah, Muhammad Sallallahu wasallam Allah, Allah Allah Mustafa Muhammad wider early he will be here woman died but
we have many examples in the Sunnah and the life of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and the Sahaba
that show us practical ways of obeying the messenger sallallahu alayhi wasallam there are many of them. We only have to go to the Kitab of disarm Bill kitabi was sooner in Sahih Bukhari and many other books of Hadith. in Riyadh masala in a book which is more accessible, there are chapters on the virtue of following the Sunnah. So it is absolutely essential, it is obligatory, that we familiarize ourselves with these ticks from the Quran and the Sunnah, understanding the rewards of those who obey Allah and His Messenger, and also knowing the evil outcome of those who this obey. I gave a few examples in the first whisper. But there's one example that comes to mind that I think is
absolutely important to to ponder over. And that is that when Amara mahato radi Allahu anhu came to aboubaker rhodiola. And he was talking to him about the issue of compiling the Quran.
And we find that the reason for this was the death of so many Corolla at the Battle of yamamah, and many other battles. And almost had this fear that if the Quran was not compiled, that many people we would lose the Quran. Of course, there was a fear that was justified, but not necessarily one. That what am I What do I mean? Because Allah subhanho wa Taala promises to preserve and protect the Koran, but it was justified regard because of the circumstances. My point is that when he brought him this suggestion, Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said, How can I do something? Which the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not do? And that is something to think about?
That is not a question that we often ask. I'm not talking about many people would bring up this argument that driving a car, why did you Why did you ride a donkey or a camel? Now those are, you know, in my opinion, ridiculous arguments. I'm not talking about that. I am talking about when those matters that relate to Islam, those matters that relate to our belief, our actions as Muslims are acts of worship. That is a question we must ask. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said for Luke, Mr. Or a Tony also Lee, pray as you have seen me pray, how many of us can say with absolute certainty that my method of slaughter is one based on this hadith? Pray, as you have seen me pray? A
man came to earth Monday, but I found about the law while and he said, How did the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam perform his widow?
He didn't ask, What is your opinion? Tell me, you know, what is the correct way? No. He said, Bring me a bucket of water. And then he proceeded to demonstrate that we do have the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam. These examples illustrate the following that the concept of Samir now Aparna is not philosophical. It is not theoretical. We as Muslims have enough practical examples in the Quran and the Sunnah to truly understand what that philosophy means, in all aspects of our lives. It's only now for us to go to these wonderful books that Allah subhanho wa Taala has preserved for us like Bukhari and Muslim and other books that would come later like Rio de Sala in
to learn as much about the Quran and Sunnah as we possibly can. And then to ask Allah subhana wa Taala to make us of those that will hear and obey. We ask Allah subhanho wa Taala on this day of Juma that he eases the suffering
of our brothers and sisters around the world. We ask Allah Subhana Allah to Allah to grant them safety and security. We all said Allah subhanho wa Taala forgives us all of our sins and the sins of our mothers and fathers our parents who came before us our teachers. May Allah Subhana Allah Allah grant us the understanding of the religion that will enable us to achieve the greatest reward the reward of gender. We all said Allah subhanho wa Taala grants us the best of this life and the best of the after. I've been at it now for dunya Hasina. woodfill karate Hasina joaquina either but no, for so long was Allah Allah and a beginner Mohammed wider early here we'll be here in a few minutes.
