Welcome back everyone. We are so excited to

00:09:18 --> 00:09:21

be with you for another season for the

00:09:21 --> 00:09:23

3rd season of

00:09:23 --> 00:09:26

Dhul Hijjah 360, a comprehensive look on the

00:09:26 --> 00:09:29

ways that we can benefit ourselves in these

00:09:29 --> 00:09:32

best days of the entire year.

00:09:32 --> 00:09:34

We are so honored and blessed that you

00:09:34 --> 00:09:36

have decided to join us here today to

00:09:36 --> 00:09:38

take time out of your day to spend

00:09:38 --> 00:09:40

with Al Maghrib, and enrich yourselves inshallah to

00:09:40 --> 00:09:41

Allah

00:09:41 --> 00:09:42

with some

00:09:43 --> 00:09:46

with Allah's permission, some life changing content,

00:09:46 --> 00:09:47

some motivation, some education

00:09:48 --> 00:09:49

to get us through these days.

00:09:50 --> 00:09:52

We know so many people. Right? They go

00:09:52 --> 00:09:54

through these 10 days of lud Hajj,

00:09:54 --> 00:09:56

and they treat them like any other days

00:09:56 --> 00:09:58

in the year. If they're not at Hajj,

00:09:58 --> 00:10:00

then it's like life goes on. But this

00:10:00 --> 00:10:02

is really one of those ways that we

00:10:02 --> 00:10:04

can lock in and focus and ensure that

00:10:04 --> 00:10:06

we are truly reaping

00:10:06 --> 00:10:09

all that there is, in terms of reward,

00:10:09 --> 00:10:12

in terms of remembrance, in terms of, achieving

00:10:12 --> 00:10:13

what the prophet

00:10:13 --> 00:10:14

told us to achieve

00:10:15 --> 00:10:18

in striving with our utmost striving in these

00:10:18 --> 00:10:19

10 days of Dhul Hajjah. So we're so

00:10:19 --> 00:10:21

excited. Thank you for jumping on with us.

00:10:21 --> 00:10:23

We have a couple of minutes before

00:10:24 --> 00:10:26

the, before we go live with our session.

00:10:26 --> 00:10:29

We wanna welcome everyone who's joining us from

00:10:29 --> 00:10:31

around the social media world, and who's live

00:10:31 --> 00:10:33

in the portal. If you're joining us from

00:10:33 --> 00:10:35

YouTube, from other sources, welcome. But keep in

00:10:35 --> 00:10:38

mind that you can join us in the

00:10:38 --> 00:10:40

portal, get access to all of the recordings,

00:10:40 --> 00:10:43

and join the community as well. You can

00:10:43 --> 00:10:45

register for free at almagrib.orgforward/best

00:10:48 --> 00:10:48

days.

00:10:49 --> 00:10:51

And we are also, as we're getting ready

00:10:51 --> 00:10:53

to get going, some of you I know

00:10:53 --> 00:10:55

may be new. In fact, let us know

00:10:55 --> 00:10:56

in the chat if this is your first

00:10:56 --> 00:10:57

time

00:10:57 --> 00:11:00

with Dhul Hejjah 360, or Ramadan 360. Let

00:11:00 --> 00:11:01

us know in the chat if this is

00:11:01 --> 00:11:03

a first experience for you. I know people

00:11:03 --> 00:11:05

have been sharing with their friends, our community

00:11:05 --> 00:11:05

grows

00:11:05 --> 00:11:06

every single year.

00:11:07 --> 00:11:09

So, if it's your first time I see

00:11:09 --> 00:11:11

a lot of familiar faces Masha'Allah, so I

00:11:11 --> 00:11:13

know that yesterday was your first day, amazing

00:11:13 --> 00:11:16

Jazakum Mochir. So, we have, Alhamdulillah, some new

00:11:16 --> 00:11:16

faces,

00:11:16 --> 00:11:19

and we have some veterans that are here

00:11:19 --> 00:11:20

to help you out as well. So in

00:11:20 --> 00:11:22

the chat, our chat is supportive.

00:11:22 --> 00:11:24

We encourage you to share, to comment with

00:11:24 --> 00:11:27

etiquette, but with our chats are a way

00:11:27 --> 00:11:28

that we can help absorb the information.

00:11:29 --> 00:11:32

We can, emphasize points that Tishek is making.

00:11:32 --> 00:11:34

Feel free to do that. We'll do our

00:11:34 --> 00:11:36

best to get some questions and answers here

00:11:36 --> 00:11:37

at the end of the session, so be

00:11:37 --> 00:11:39

ready for that as well.

00:11:39 --> 00:11:42

We'll be here for about an hour and

00:11:42 --> 00:11:44

15 minutes from now. The first half will

00:11:44 --> 00:11:46

be our will be our daily reminder.

00:11:47 --> 00:11:49

The second half will be our interactive du'a

00:11:49 --> 00:11:51

reflect session. This month will be run by

00:11:51 --> 00:11:52

Usteda

00:11:52 --> 00:11:55

Tamia Zubair. And I do, of course, want

00:11:55 --> 00:11:58

to shout out in this in this days

00:11:58 --> 00:12:00

of dhikr, these days of Ibadah, these days

00:12:00 --> 00:12:02

of giving. We want to shout out our

00:12:02 --> 00:12:04

amazing charity partners who we've had the honor

00:12:04 --> 00:12:06

to work with in the past, and back

00:12:06 --> 00:12:08

with them again in this beautiful month of

00:12:08 --> 00:12:10

Dhul Hijjah. In Canada, of course, we have

00:12:10 --> 00:12:13

Islamic Relief Canada. In USA, we have Human

00:12:13 --> 00:12:15

Appeal. And in the UK, UK, we have

00:12:16 --> 00:12:17

Forgotten Women.

00:12:17 --> 00:12:18

All established,

00:12:19 --> 00:12:19

credible,

00:12:20 --> 00:12:23

solid organizations doing amazing work for this ummah

00:12:23 --> 00:12:26

around the globe. Please check out the links

00:12:26 --> 00:12:28

in the chat, and and find it in

00:12:28 --> 00:12:29

your heart. We ask that you support them

00:12:29 --> 00:12:32

as well. And we also ask that you

00:12:32 --> 00:12:34

consider supporting Al Maghrib, the work that we

00:12:34 --> 00:12:37

do to educate this ummah. You can join

00:12:37 --> 00:12:37

us

00:12:37 --> 00:12:38

in that educational

00:12:39 --> 00:12:40

mission, in that reward

00:12:41 --> 00:12:42

by visiting almagrib.orgforward/donate.

00:12:45 --> 00:12:47

And so we would really love to have

00:12:47 --> 00:12:49

you join us in all of those endeavors

00:12:49 --> 00:12:50

be itnillahi

00:12:50 --> 00:12:51

ta'ala.

00:12:52 --> 00:12:54

So today inshallah ta'ala we are blessed to

00:12:54 --> 00:12:55

have, I believe he is with us on

00:12:55 --> 00:12:58

the screen, our beloved Sheikh and instructor, Omar

00:12:58 --> 00:12:58

Hussain.

00:12:59 --> 00:13:02

And so since it is, 501 EST, Sheikh

00:13:02 --> 00:13:04

Hana, if you are ready, let's go ahead

00:13:04 --> 00:13:06

and kick things off. Assalamu alaykum.

00:13:07 --> 00:13:08

And how are you doing today?

00:13:12 --> 00:13:13

Pleasure to be here again.

00:13:15 --> 00:13:16

Please go ahead.

00:13:28 --> 00:13:29

So I want to,

00:13:30 --> 00:13:33

you know, thank Al Maghrib for allowing us

00:13:33 --> 00:13:35

to be conscious of these days.

00:13:36 --> 00:13:37

Brother Abdulrahman mentioned,

00:13:38 --> 00:13:40

a lot of times these days just kinda

00:13:40 --> 00:13:41

come and pass. You know, I will be

00:13:41 --> 00:13:44

honest. Most of my life, we had no

00:13:44 --> 00:13:47

idea what to do or the significance of

00:13:47 --> 00:13:48

the. Like,

00:13:49 --> 00:13:51

just kinda went, you know, maybe, you know,

00:13:51 --> 00:13:52

they have a few friends on HUD or

00:13:53 --> 00:13:55

family members, and that's kind of it.

00:13:55 --> 00:13:57

So it's also you know,

00:13:58 --> 00:14:00

sometimes in Ramadan, Ramadan can get tiring.

00:14:01 --> 00:14:02

We go through the nights.

00:14:02 --> 00:14:04

It's like Allah is saying, now you have

00:14:04 --> 00:14:06

the days when you're talking about how, you

00:14:06 --> 00:14:08

know, oh, if if we only had we

00:14:08 --> 00:14:09

had daytime.

00:14:09 --> 00:14:11

And here now, he's given it to us.

00:14:11 --> 00:14:12

So

00:14:12 --> 00:14:15

may Allah forgive us, for missing out on

00:14:15 --> 00:14:17

the in the past, but we we can't

00:14:17 --> 00:14:18

change that.

00:14:18 --> 00:14:19

So,

00:14:20 --> 00:14:22

to have awareness and consciousness.

00:14:23 --> 00:14:24

You know, just practically speaking,

00:14:25 --> 00:14:27

I know many are on summer vacation.

00:14:29 --> 00:14:29

A lot of times,

00:14:30 --> 00:14:33

in work, whether we have business businesses or

00:14:33 --> 00:14:35

whether we work for someone, there's flexibility, you

00:14:35 --> 00:14:36

know, flex Fridays.

00:14:37 --> 00:14:39

So let us utilize the days. You know?

00:14:39 --> 00:14:41

If that means cutting lunch shorter, not having

00:14:41 --> 00:14:43

lunch at all and fasting, that would be

00:14:43 --> 00:14:44

the ideal.

00:14:44 --> 00:14:46

But just little things we can do,

00:14:46 --> 00:14:47

can be incredibly

00:14:48 --> 00:14:50

useful. You know, one time I I conducted

00:14:50 --> 00:14:51

an experiment,

00:14:52 --> 00:14:55

when I was driving from my home to

00:14:55 --> 00:14:57

the to the gym. So I had a

00:14:57 --> 00:14:59

little counter, like a real like a physical

00:14:59 --> 00:15:00

counter.

00:15:01 --> 00:15:02

And I said, you know what I'm gonna

00:15:02 --> 00:15:03

do? I'm I'm gonna say

00:15:10 --> 00:15:11

and then I'm gonna click.

00:15:12 --> 00:15:14

And I I can't, like I'm not trying

00:15:14 --> 00:15:14

to

00:15:15 --> 00:15:17

it's all about quality. I'm not trying to

00:15:17 --> 00:15:19

hit a certain number. Like, it has to

00:15:19 --> 00:15:19

be

00:15:20 --> 00:15:21

just like that. Click.

00:15:26 --> 00:15:27

Click. So

00:15:28 --> 00:15:29

I clicked so that's what I was doing.

00:15:29 --> 00:15:30

So I drove in about a

00:15:31 --> 00:15:33

5, maybe 10 minute drive

00:15:34 --> 00:15:36

there, 10 minute drive back. I came back,

00:15:37 --> 00:15:40

and, I asked the community that night, you

00:15:40 --> 00:15:41

know, what what do you think

00:15:42 --> 00:15:44

how many what do you think the counters

00:15:44 --> 00:15:45

show? You know, people like,

00:15:46 --> 00:15:47

40, 50,

00:15:49 --> 00:15:49

you know,

00:15:50 --> 00:15:52

a100. There's always that one person, you know,

00:15:52 --> 00:15:54

who just throws out a ridiculous number and

00:15:54 --> 00:15:56

then everything else just so that nothing else

00:15:56 --> 00:15:58

has any effect. You know? There's always that

00:15:58 --> 00:15:59

person in the community.

00:16:01 --> 00:16:01

But

00:16:02 --> 00:16:04

it was something. I I don't remember now

00:16:04 --> 00:16:06

exactly. It's been a long time, but it

00:16:06 --> 00:16:06

was, like,

00:16:07 --> 00:16:08

700

00:16:08 --> 00:16:11

something. Like, it was a massive number.

00:16:12 --> 00:16:15

And that was doing nothing other than

00:16:16 --> 00:16:19

just going from my, you know, normal swole.

00:16:19 --> 00:16:20

That's all I was doing. It's not like

00:16:20 --> 00:16:22

I was doing anything outside of the ordinary.

00:16:23 --> 00:16:23

And so

00:16:24 --> 00:16:26

there's there's no reason why you know, sometimes

00:16:26 --> 00:16:28

we think about, I I wanna add this.

00:16:28 --> 00:16:29

I wanna do more in these days, and

00:16:29 --> 00:16:33

that's great, to do that. We absolutely should.

00:16:33 --> 00:16:35

But there's a lot of time we already

00:16:35 --> 00:16:37

have that we're just not utilizing,

00:16:38 --> 00:16:40

and that, insha Allah, is something we can

00:16:40 --> 00:16:42

do. So that's just some advice to myself

00:16:42 --> 00:16:43

and all of us. And, again,

00:16:44 --> 00:16:46

may Allah reward Al Maghrib for allowing us

00:16:46 --> 00:16:48

to be conscious and and front and,

00:16:49 --> 00:16:49

facing

00:16:50 --> 00:16:51

for us.

00:16:52 --> 00:16:53

So I have the,

00:16:54 --> 00:16:54

pleasure

00:16:55 --> 00:16:57

of speaking about the conversion of Omar.

00:16:59 --> 00:16:59

Other

00:17:00 --> 00:17:02

of course, in his fantastic name,

00:17:03 --> 00:17:06

There's many, many wonderful things that Umar radiAllahu

00:17:06 --> 00:17:06

an

00:17:07 --> 00:17:09

accomplished in his life, and there's so many

00:17:09 --> 00:17:11

directions we can take

00:17:12 --> 00:17:13

his story.

00:17:14 --> 00:17:17

I'm going to just sort of look at

00:17:18 --> 00:17:18

what,

00:17:19 --> 00:17:21

kind of day to day things that we

00:17:21 --> 00:17:23

go through as in. That's sort of what

00:17:23 --> 00:17:24

I'm looking at, and,

00:17:25 --> 00:17:27

you know, again, there's many angles we can

00:17:27 --> 00:17:27

take.

00:17:28 --> 00:17:30

Where I would start with Omar Radiallahu An,

00:17:30 --> 00:17:32

one of the reasons why I love him

00:17:32 --> 00:17:33

so much

00:17:34 --> 00:17:34

is

00:17:35 --> 00:17:38

he is like the perfect definition

00:17:39 --> 00:17:40

of what masculinity

00:17:40 --> 00:17:41

truly is.

00:17:43 --> 00:17:43

This,

00:17:45 --> 00:17:46

nowadays, there's

00:17:46 --> 00:17:47

confusion

00:17:47 --> 00:17:49

on all of these topics

00:17:50 --> 00:17:51

related to masculinity,

00:17:51 --> 00:17:53

gender, gender roles.

00:17:54 --> 00:17:55

Just so much confusion,

00:17:56 --> 00:17:58

so much, so much is going on. But

00:17:59 --> 00:18:01

he was, like, the epitome of

00:18:02 --> 00:18:02

true masculinity.

00:18:03 --> 00:18:04

And

00:18:05 --> 00:18:06

the reason is because when many when many

00:18:06 --> 00:18:08

of us think masculinity, we think

00:18:09 --> 00:18:10

powerful,

00:18:10 --> 00:18:11

strong,

00:18:13 --> 00:18:15

which he absolutely was. He was physically

00:18:16 --> 00:18:17

very,

00:18:17 --> 00:18:19

you know, he was large. Some narrations have,

00:18:19 --> 00:18:22

like, when he sat on a camel or

00:18:22 --> 00:18:24

or an animal to ride, his legs, like,

00:18:24 --> 00:18:24

touched,

00:18:25 --> 00:18:27

like, the ground. Right?

00:18:29 --> 00:18:29

He had very

00:18:31 --> 00:18:32

physically, his you know, hands were big. His

00:18:32 --> 00:18:33

voice was very deep,

00:18:35 --> 00:18:37

and he was, you know, he was he

00:18:37 --> 00:18:39

was he was rough. He was rough. He

00:18:39 --> 00:18:39

was tough.

00:18:40 --> 00:18:42

So that part is kind of there.

00:18:42 --> 00:18:44

But what really takes it to the next

00:18:44 --> 00:18:45

level

00:18:46 --> 00:18:47

was his humbleness

00:18:48 --> 00:18:50

and concern for justice

00:18:51 --> 00:18:53

and those who are oppressed in society.

00:18:54 --> 00:18:56

And when you combine that together, like, that's

00:18:56 --> 00:18:57

truly

00:18:58 --> 00:18:59

what,

00:18:59 --> 00:19:00

like, a gentleman

00:19:00 --> 00:19:02

is. Right? That's, like,

00:19:03 --> 00:19:03

what every

00:19:04 --> 00:19:06

man is aspiring to be. Right?

00:19:07 --> 00:19:09

And who every woman is trying to marry.

00:19:09 --> 00:19:11

Okay? But that's a very high standard.

00:19:12 --> 00:19:15

But that's what we're trying to do. Right?

00:19:15 --> 00:19:17

So it's like, you know, he he he

00:19:17 --> 00:19:21

could've you know what's what power really is?

00:19:21 --> 00:19:23

True power is when you can crush someone,

00:19:24 --> 00:19:25

but you don't,

00:19:26 --> 00:19:27

and you restrain yourself.

00:19:28 --> 00:19:29

Just how the prophet told

00:19:30 --> 00:19:32

us that that's what true power is. It's

00:19:32 --> 00:19:34

not someone who just can physically, you know,

00:19:35 --> 00:19:36

throw somebody around.

00:19:37 --> 00:19:38

It's the ability

00:19:38 --> 00:19:38

to

00:19:40 --> 00:19:41

consciously refrain

00:19:42 --> 00:19:43

and engage.

00:19:44 --> 00:19:46

And that's what he did. And so his

00:19:46 --> 00:19:46

service,

00:19:48 --> 00:19:49

he was very approachable. You know, you would

00:19:50 --> 00:19:52

even though he was, you know, some were

00:19:52 --> 00:19:54

intimidated by him, but he he was approachable

00:19:54 --> 00:19:55

during his,

00:19:56 --> 00:19:57

time as Khalifa.

00:19:58 --> 00:20:01

And we know, you know, the Islamic Empire

00:20:02 --> 00:20:03

spread,

00:20:03 --> 00:20:05

quite a bit under his rule, but how

00:20:05 --> 00:20:06

did he rule?

00:20:07 --> 00:20:08

And when you when you look at his

00:20:08 --> 00:20:11

rule, it wasn't, you know, this sort of

00:20:11 --> 00:20:14

crushing, overpowering. Like, it was

00:20:14 --> 00:20:16

all about justice and helping those who are

00:20:16 --> 00:20:17

being oppressed.

00:20:17 --> 00:20:19

And so you combine all that together,

00:20:20 --> 00:20:22

and that just is

00:20:22 --> 00:20:24

really like the epitome

00:20:24 --> 00:20:25

of of what,

00:20:26 --> 00:20:28

you know, being a man is all about.

00:20:28 --> 00:20:31

And, you know, he he prayed the Hajjid,

00:20:31 --> 00:20:32

you know,

00:20:32 --> 00:20:33

so so often.

00:20:34 --> 00:20:37

Just the the the combination of the power

00:20:37 --> 00:20:38

and the humbleness

00:20:39 --> 00:20:42

is is really something that we're all striving

00:20:43 --> 00:20:45

for. So that is you know, there's many

00:20:45 --> 00:20:47

things to love about him, but that really

00:20:47 --> 00:20:49

stands out because

00:20:49 --> 00:20:52

he had, you know, he was different than

00:20:52 --> 00:20:53

like Abu Bakr. Right? He was a little

00:20:53 --> 00:20:56

bit different approach, more more sort of mild

00:20:56 --> 00:20:56

mannered.

00:20:57 --> 00:20:59

But he was able to combine these two

00:20:59 --> 00:21:00

things, and the prophet

00:21:01 --> 00:21:03

did not make him change who he was,

00:21:03 --> 00:21:05

just like he didn't make Abu Bakr change

00:21:05 --> 00:21:06

who he was.

00:21:07 --> 00:21:07

His companions,

00:21:08 --> 00:21:11

you know, he saw their strengths and what

00:21:11 --> 00:21:12

each could bring,

00:21:12 --> 00:21:15

and, you know, he let them thrive in

00:21:15 --> 00:21:17

their positions and in which he, you know,

00:21:17 --> 00:21:18

certainly certainly did.

00:21:19 --> 00:21:19

So

00:21:20 --> 00:21:22

that's just something that really stands out to

00:21:22 --> 00:21:24

me. You know? I think,

00:21:25 --> 00:21:27

you know, perhaps people in the in the

00:21:27 --> 00:21:29

chat could just put things that that that

00:21:29 --> 00:21:30

they love about

00:21:30 --> 00:21:31

that might be,

00:21:32 --> 00:21:33

might be worthwhile.

00:21:34 --> 00:21:35

So, of course, we know,

00:21:36 --> 00:21:38

and we won't go over this in detail,

00:21:38 --> 00:21:39

but we know that,

00:21:41 --> 00:21:42

in the beginning was

00:21:43 --> 00:21:46

not Muslim, and he was a staunch enemy

00:21:46 --> 00:21:49

of Islam. He would first Muslims early on,

00:21:50 --> 00:21:51

spit on them.

00:21:52 --> 00:21:54

It was very harsh. Right?

00:21:55 --> 00:21:55

And,

00:21:55 --> 00:21:58

he decided one day that he was going

00:21:58 --> 00:21:58

to

00:21:59 --> 00:22:02

take out the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

00:22:02 --> 00:22:02

And

00:22:03 --> 00:22:05

on the way, he got into a little

00:22:05 --> 00:22:05

scuffle,

00:22:06 --> 00:22:08

and, you know, basically, he was told that,

00:22:09 --> 00:22:11

hey. Why don't you take care of your

00:22:11 --> 00:22:12

own house? Meaning,

00:22:13 --> 00:22:14

that people in your own family

00:22:15 --> 00:22:17

are leaving the religion that you're on,

00:22:18 --> 00:22:21

before worrying about the prophet, sallallahu alaihi wasallam,

00:22:21 --> 00:22:23

why don't you take care of what's happening

00:22:23 --> 00:22:24

in your family? Now if somebody

00:22:25 --> 00:22:26

says that to you, you're gonna have one

00:22:26 --> 00:22:29

of those, like, oh, no. He didn't moments.

00:22:30 --> 00:22:30

Right?

00:22:32 --> 00:22:35

And then he's like, I do I am

00:22:35 --> 00:22:37

gonna go and take care of my own

00:22:37 --> 00:22:38

house. So, of course, he went to,

00:22:38 --> 00:22:40

his sister's home,

00:22:41 --> 00:22:44

and, you know, he heard recitation from inside.

00:22:44 --> 00:22:45

He bursts in,

00:22:47 --> 00:22:50

and, he is, you know, beating

00:22:50 --> 00:22:51

his then brother-in-law,

00:22:52 --> 00:22:54

and he strikes his sister,

00:22:55 --> 00:22:58

and blood starts coming down her face. So

00:22:59 --> 00:22:59

he feels

00:23:00 --> 00:23:01

some regret,

00:23:02 --> 00:23:04

right, when he when he sees that.

00:23:04 --> 00:23:06

And it's almost like there's a there's this

00:23:06 --> 00:23:09

this change there. And he says, you know,

00:23:09 --> 00:23:10

what were you reading?

00:23:10 --> 00:23:13

And, of course, his sister tells him that,

00:23:13 --> 00:23:14

well, you can't see it right now. You

00:23:14 --> 00:23:16

have to go and purify yourself. So he

00:23:16 --> 00:23:17

makes

00:23:17 --> 00:23:18

a and he comes back,

00:23:19 --> 00:23:19

and he is,

00:23:20 --> 00:23:21

starts reading Surat Baha,

00:23:22 --> 00:23:23

and that was

00:23:23 --> 00:23:25

that was it. And then, of course, he

00:23:25 --> 00:23:27

goes to the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

00:23:28 --> 00:23:29

And this was

00:23:30 --> 00:23:33

incredibly significant. You know, some historians say after

00:23:33 --> 00:23:34

the prophet

00:23:35 --> 00:23:36

his Islam,

00:23:36 --> 00:23:39

converting to Islam was the most significant.

00:23:40 --> 00:23:41

Because after he became Muslim,

00:23:43 --> 00:23:44

he,

00:23:44 --> 00:23:46

would protect people,

00:23:46 --> 00:23:48

the Muslims when they were praying. Like, they

00:23:48 --> 00:23:49

they just they felt

00:23:50 --> 00:23:52

a power and emboldened even though they were

00:23:52 --> 00:23:54

still small in numbers,

00:23:55 --> 00:23:57

that they could do things publicly now.

00:23:58 --> 00:23:58

And

00:23:58 --> 00:23:59

that

00:23:59 --> 00:24:02

was a big deal because they were

00:24:02 --> 00:24:05

hiding, right, in Darul Arakam, and they just

00:24:05 --> 00:24:06

were having,

00:24:06 --> 00:24:08

you know, they were they were being abused

00:24:08 --> 00:24:10

in various ways. So he kind of

00:24:11 --> 00:24:12

helped put a stop to that.

00:24:13 --> 00:24:15

And, ibn Mas'ud he,

00:24:16 --> 00:24:18

of course, was beaten because he would read

00:24:18 --> 00:24:20

the Quran publicly. He said, Inna Islam, Umar

00:24:20 --> 00:24:21

Qana Fathhan.

00:24:22 --> 00:24:24

The just Umar

00:24:24 --> 00:24:27

becoming Muslim, that was victory in itself, Waqanat

00:24:27 --> 00:24:27

Hijratuhun

00:24:28 --> 00:24:29

Nasran, and his Hijrah,

00:24:30 --> 00:24:32

his traveling was a victory.

00:24:32 --> 00:24:34

And, his leadership,

00:24:36 --> 00:24:37

Rahma. His

00:24:39 --> 00:24:41

leadership was a mercy. So he kind of

00:24:41 --> 00:24:44

described him in all these different ways,

00:24:45 --> 00:24:45

and,

00:24:46 --> 00:24:49

you know, he upheld the rights of those

00:24:49 --> 00:24:50

who were

00:24:50 --> 00:24:53

weaker, those who were oppressed. And a lot

00:24:53 --> 00:24:55

of times, we pride ourselves,

00:24:56 --> 00:24:57

particularly in Western countries,

00:24:59 --> 00:25:01

even though we don't always do a very

00:25:01 --> 00:25:02

good job about it. But at least we

00:25:02 --> 00:25:04

say that, oh, we're all about helping those

00:25:04 --> 00:25:05

who are weak and oppressed.

00:25:08 --> 00:25:10

So that was, you know, after he became

00:25:10 --> 00:25:13

Muslim. But before, he was a fierce fierce

00:25:14 --> 00:25:14

enemy

00:25:16 --> 00:25:16

of of Islam.

00:25:17 --> 00:25:18

And Allah

00:25:19 --> 00:25:19

says,

00:25:24 --> 00:25:26

That you cannot guide who you love,

00:25:27 --> 00:25:27

only Allah

00:25:29 --> 00:25:30

guides. And so

00:25:31 --> 00:25:33

this was for Abu Talib, the uncle of

00:25:33 --> 00:25:36

the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, who, you

00:25:36 --> 00:25:38

know, basically had his back and protected him.

00:25:39 --> 00:25:40

But at the end of the day,

00:25:41 --> 00:25:42

he did not

00:25:42 --> 00:25:43

accept Islam.

00:25:44 --> 00:25:46

So the other day when we were, having

00:25:46 --> 00:25:49

the the program here for afterlife explorers,

00:25:50 --> 00:25:52

you know, we talked about the

00:25:53 --> 00:25:54

the least

00:25:54 --> 00:25:55

punishment in

00:25:56 --> 00:25:58

in Jahannam, in the hellfire,

00:26:00 --> 00:26:02

is someone who'll have, like, sandals

00:26:02 --> 00:26:04

with coal burning under them, and the brain

00:26:04 --> 00:26:05

will be boiling.

00:26:06 --> 00:26:06

And,

00:26:07 --> 00:26:09

in one narration, this is for Abu Thanib.

00:26:11 --> 00:26:12

So it's like

00:26:13 --> 00:26:15

because he was, you know, he was so

00:26:15 --> 00:26:16

good to the prophet

00:26:17 --> 00:26:18

in his life,

00:26:19 --> 00:26:20

but

00:26:20 --> 00:26:23

he still gets this punishment, although it's the

00:26:23 --> 00:26:25

lightest one. So who can even imagine? And,

00:26:25 --> 00:26:27

of course, we went through, some of the

00:26:27 --> 00:26:28

other horrors. May Allah

00:26:28 --> 00:26:29

protect us,

00:26:30 --> 00:26:32

from from the hellfire.

00:26:33 --> 00:26:36

But but he didn't have iman. Right? And

00:26:36 --> 00:26:37

so Omar radiallahu an,

00:26:39 --> 00:26:40

does accept Islam,

00:26:41 --> 00:26:42

and Allah

00:26:43 --> 00:26:44

guided him

00:26:44 --> 00:26:47

from being one of the most staunch enemies

00:26:48 --> 00:26:50

to being someone who is revered

00:26:50 --> 00:26:52

by Muslims all across the world and whose

00:26:52 --> 00:26:53

name is mentioned,

00:26:54 --> 00:26:55

and who gets duas

00:26:57 --> 00:26:59

for 100 and 100 of years after.

00:27:00 --> 00:27:00

Now

00:27:01 --> 00:27:03

in the times that we live in,

00:27:05 --> 00:27:06

in an American context

00:27:07 --> 00:27:09

and probably in a European one as well,

00:27:11 --> 00:27:13

There is a lot of tribalism,

00:27:13 --> 00:27:15

perhaps more than many of us have seen

00:27:15 --> 00:27:16

in our life.

00:27:17 --> 00:27:19

There's a lot of hatred and anger towards

00:27:19 --> 00:27:20

others.

00:27:21 --> 00:27:23

Now even if you don't live in America

00:27:25 --> 00:27:25

or

00:27:25 --> 00:27:28

in, you know, perhaps Canada or the European

00:27:28 --> 00:27:29

countries,

00:27:30 --> 00:27:32

Speaking from an American context, I remember one

00:27:32 --> 00:27:34

time, I had a teacher, and,

00:27:35 --> 00:27:36

it was in,

00:27:37 --> 00:27:38

I think, it was in my graduate program.

00:27:38 --> 00:27:40

So you're talking about how she had a

00:27:40 --> 00:27:41

friend from

00:27:41 --> 00:27:42

it was, like, Ireland,

00:27:43 --> 00:27:46

and they were talking politics. And this person

00:27:46 --> 00:27:46

in Ireland

00:27:47 --> 00:27:48

was, like,

00:27:49 --> 00:27:51

knew more about American politics than she did.

00:27:53 --> 00:27:54

And she's like,

00:27:55 --> 00:27:57

you know, like, I'm not not trying to

00:27:57 --> 00:27:59

be rude or anything. Like, you live in

00:27:59 --> 00:27:59

Ireland.

00:28:00 --> 00:28:02

You're it's not like you're even neighbors with

00:28:02 --> 00:28:03

us. Like, why do you know so much

00:28:03 --> 00:28:05

about American politics?

00:28:06 --> 00:28:08

And her friend says to her, like, see,

00:28:08 --> 00:28:09

you don't understand.

00:28:10 --> 00:28:11

When America sneezes,

00:28:12 --> 00:28:13

we catch a cold.

00:28:15 --> 00:28:15

So

00:28:16 --> 00:28:17

what the policies,

00:28:18 --> 00:28:21

you you put out, what's happening there, directly

00:28:21 --> 00:28:22

affects us.

00:28:22 --> 00:28:23

So

00:28:23 --> 00:28:25

all of us in some sense are are

00:28:25 --> 00:28:27

certainly affected by that.

00:28:28 --> 00:28:29

We're seeing our

00:28:30 --> 00:28:33

brothers and sisters in in Palestine and Palestine.

00:28:33 --> 00:28:33

May Allah

00:28:34 --> 00:28:34

grant

00:28:35 --> 00:28:37

them, victory and ease. But this is a

00:28:37 --> 00:28:38

direct,

00:28:39 --> 00:28:41

or there there's a lot that has to

00:28:41 --> 00:28:42

do with the policies

00:28:43 --> 00:28:45

in America of why this continues and why

00:28:45 --> 00:28:47

it's not stopping. Right? So there is a

00:28:47 --> 00:28:48

direct relationship.

00:28:49 --> 00:28:51

So the tribalism

00:28:51 --> 00:28:51

and the,

00:28:53 --> 00:28:55

just the hatred that people have,

00:28:56 --> 00:28:59

is something which is really spread here. And

00:28:59 --> 00:29:01

we're starting to see now

00:29:01 --> 00:29:04

in European countries, you know, people voting for

00:29:04 --> 00:29:05

very

00:29:06 --> 00:29:08

right you know, far right type of policies

00:29:08 --> 00:29:10

and things, and we're kinda like, what you

00:29:10 --> 00:29:12

know, what happened? Right? Because all these things

00:29:12 --> 00:29:13

have an effect.

00:29:14 --> 00:29:15

Now some of those

00:29:16 --> 00:29:18

people using that rhetoric or saying these things,

00:29:21 --> 00:29:23

I still don't think that they hate Islam

00:29:23 --> 00:29:24

as much as Omar

00:29:24 --> 00:29:26

might have hated it before he became Muslim.

00:29:28 --> 00:29:28

Right?

00:29:29 --> 00:29:30

Now

00:29:30 --> 00:29:31

I don't know

00:29:32 --> 00:29:34

how to measure it exactly. I I do

00:29:34 --> 00:29:37

believe many of the politicians and leaders, it's

00:29:37 --> 00:29:39

to get in power. Do they really have

00:29:39 --> 00:29:42

a deep down hatred? Some of them, I'm

00:29:42 --> 00:29:44

not denying that they do, but others, it's

00:29:44 --> 00:29:45

like a political game.

00:29:46 --> 00:29:48

You know? If if if someone told them,

00:29:48 --> 00:29:50

just change this a little bit,

00:29:50 --> 00:29:52

and you'll get the vote and you'll win,

00:29:52 --> 00:29:53

then they will change it into you know,

00:29:53 --> 00:29:55

they're playing sort of a game. But when

00:29:55 --> 00:29:57

you when when when

00:29:57 --> 00:29:59

some scholars say that

00:30:00 --> 00:30:02

only Abu Lahab had a greater hatred of

00:30:02 --> 00:30:04

Islam than Omar Radiallahu An before Islam. That

00:30:04 --> 00:30:07

is something which makes your ears stand up.

00:30:07 --> 00:30:07

Right?

00:30:08 --> 00:30:10

Who is more vicious than Abu Lahab in

00:30:10 --> 00:30:11

his hatred for Islam?

00:30:11 --> 00:30:13

So Omar radiallahu an

00:30:14 --> 00:30:16

had a hatred for Islam in his heart

00:30:16 --> 00:30:18

before he became Muslim,

00:30:18 --> 00:30:21

and when we look at the times that

00:30:21 --> 00:30:23

we live in, we see a lot of

00:30:23 --> 00:30:24

hatred. But despite

00:30:25 --> 00:30:25

that,

00:30:28 --> 00:30:28

everybody

00:30:29 --> 00:30:29

still

00:30:30 --> 00:30:32

has a chance to be guided if Allah

00:30:32 --> 00:30:34

subhanahu wa ta'ala wills.

00:30:35 --> 00:30:38

We cannot ever write anyone off.

00:30:39 --> 00:30:41

We cannot say this person is beyond

00:30:41 --> 00:30:42

being saved.

00:30:44 --> 00:30:45

Or, you know,

00:30:45 --> 00:30:48

this person oh, they're never gonna become

00:30:49 --> 00:30:51

Muslim or get, you know, guidance or whatever

00:30:51 --> 00:30:53

the case may be.

00:30:54 --> 00:30:56

I agree that a 100% of those people

00:30:56 --> 00:30:58

are not going to get guidance. That's Allah's

00:30:58 --> 00:30:58

will.

00:31:00 --> 00:31:01

But

00:31:02 --> 00:31:02

maybe

00:31:04 --> 00:31:06

their image of Islam might be altered somewhat,

00:31:08 --> 00:31:09

and that's a victory.

00:31:10 --> 00:31:12

You know, I I used to work with

00:31:12 --> 00:31:13

with someone,

00:31:14 --> 00:31:16

and, this was when I was doing

00:31:17 --> 00:31:18

my internship in counseling.

00:31:20 --> 00:31:21

And,

00:31:22 --> 00:31:24

I think they were more interested in Islam

00:31:24 --> 00:31:25

than in my actually,

00:31:26 --> 00:31:27

working in the internship.

00:31:29 --> 00:31:31

So when I would have my reviews,

00:31:32 --> 00:31:32

I'm a

00:31:33 --> 00:31:34

on on one of the reviews,

00:31:35 --> 00:31:35

the,

00:31:37 --> 00:31:39

my manager said,

00:31:39 --> 00:31:40

you know, I'm supposed to ask you these

00:31:40 --> 00:31:42

questions about how you're doing here and stuff,

00:31:42 --> 00:31:43

but can we just talk about your religion

00:31:43 --> 00:31:45

instead? I'm like, yeah. That's cool.

00:31:47 --> 00:31:50

Yeah. Sure. Of course. That probably means I'm

00:31:50 --> 00:31:52

doing pretty good. But yeah. Of course. And

00:31:52 --> 00:31:54

so these would be sort of ongoing conversations.

00:31:55 --> 00:31:56

Now

00:31:57 --> 00:31:58

her beliefs

00:31:58 --> 00:31:59

and values

00:32:00 --> 00:32:02

weren't even close to Islam.

00:32:03 --> 00:32:04

I'll leave it at that.

00:32:05 --> 00:32:07

K? So it's not like,

00:32:07 --> 00:32:09

okay. Maybe it was someone, you know, a

00:32:09 --> 00:32:11

a religious person. No. No. No. No. No.

00:32:11 --> 00:32:13

No. No. Not close.

00:32:14 --> 00:32:15

But we had those conversations,

00:32:17 --> 00:32:17

and,

00:32:18 --> 00:32:20

then, you know, she she told me she

00:32:20 --> 00:32:21

was visiting a city, and there was a

00:32:21 --> 00:32:23

there was a she went to a halal,

00:32:23 --> 00:32:24

burger place.

00:32:25 --> 00:32:27

And her and it was, like, someone in

00:32:27 --> 00:32:29

her family, maybe her brother-in-law.

00:32:30 --> 00:32:32

And he started, you know, trying to

00:32:33 --> 00:32:35

say some things about Islam and stuff, and

00:32:35 --> 00:32:36

here she is now

00:32:37 --> 00:32:39

saying like, well, actually, I don't think you're

00:32:39 --> 00:32:41

properly informed. And, you know, I I know

00:32:41 --> 00:32:42

someone who, you know,

00:32:43 --> 00:32:45

is a spiritual leader in his community, and

00:32:45 --> 00:32:47

I just work with him every day, and

00:32:47 --> 00:32:48

we've talked about it. So it's like

00:32:49 --> 00:32:51

I mean, may Allah guide everyone, but

00:32:52 --> 00:32:54

that's still, like, a win

00:32:54 --> 00:32:58

that this person is able to speak to

00:32:58 --> 00:33:00

someone they're close to and dispel

00:33:01 --> 00:33:02

some of the,

00:33:03 --> 00:33:03

negative

00:33:04 --> 00:33:07

rhetoric, some of the stereotypes about Islam. So

00:33:07 --> 00:33:09

I'll take that. Right? Now ultimate ultimately, obviously,

00:33:10 --> 00:33:12

we wish for everyone's guidance, but

00:33:12 --> 00:33:14

I'm good with that. So that's still a

00:33:14 --> 00:33:15

positive thing.

00:33:15 --> 00:33:17

But if we took the

00:33:17 --> 00:33:18

attitude

00:33:18 --> 00:33:21

that I just hate this person because of

00:33:21 --> 00:33:24

what they stand for, what they believe, and

00:33:24 --> 00:33:26

I'm not even gonna engage with them,

00:33:26 --> 00:33:28

then where would we have

00:33:28 --> 00:33:30

been? Where would we have gotten?

00:33:32 --> 00:33:34

So the next question then is why

00:33:34 --> 00:33:36

would we have such hatred in our heart

00:33:36 --> 00:33:37

for people in general?

00:33:39 --> 00:33:39

Like, why?

00:33:40 --> 00:33:42

And that's a question to ask ourself

00:33:43 --> 00:33:46

because there's a difference between having hatred for

00:33:46 --> 00:33:47

the sake of

00:33:48 --> 00:33:51

Allah and just being a hateful person,

00:33:51 --> 00:33:53

and we're not trying to be the latter.

00:33:55 --> 00:33:57

Every single one of us should be angry

00:33:58 --> 00:33:58

when

00:33:59 --> 00:34:01

the rights of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala are

00:34:01 --> 00:34:02

violated.

00:34:03 --> 00:34:04

Every single one of us.

00:34:05 --> 00:34:07

Nobody was more pleasant than the Prophet

00:34:08 --> 00:34:09

Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

00:34:10 --> 00:34:10

Nobody

00:34:11 --> 00:34:15

hated wrongdoing more than the prophet sallallahu alaihi

00:34:15 --> 00:34:15

wasallam.

00:34:17 --> 00:34:17

Nobody

00:34:19 --> 00:34:19

hated

00:34:20 --> 00:34:22

wrong more than the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa

00:34:22 --> 00:34:23

sallam.

00:34:24 --> 00:34:27

So we are definitely not saying that just

00:34:27 --> 00:34:28

everything is all good,

00:34:29 --> 00:34:32

And, you know, don't hate for the sake

00:34:32 --> 00:34:32

of Allah

00:34:33 --> 00:34:34

because this is also a trendy thing. Right?

00:34:34 --> 00:34:37

Oh, we don't hate don't hate anybody. Yes.

00:34:37 --> 00:34:39

Of course. Generally speaking, I get the message,

00:34:39 --> 00:34:42

but we we can't let it get get

00:34:42 --> 00:34:43

to a point where we start

00:34:45 --> 00:34:45

hating

00:34:46 --> 00:34:48

what Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has actually prescribed

00:34:48 --> 00:34:49

for us.

00:34:49 --> 00:34:52

That's that's where we've we've dropped the ball

00:34:52 --> 00:34:53

if that's what we're getting to.

00:34:54 --> 00:34:56

So we definitely hate for the sake of

00:34:56 --> 00:34:56

Allah

00:34:58 --> 00:35:00

That doesn't mean that we don't use wisdom

00:35:00 --> 00:35:02

or we don't look at our approach

00:35:03 --> 00:35:04

when it comes to,

00:35:06 --> 00:35:08

how we handle things in society. So I

00:35:08 --> 00:35:10

work with a lot of people in addictions.

00:35:11 --> 00:35:12

I hate alcohol.

00:35:12 --> 00:35:14

I hate drugs. When I go to the

00:35:14 --> 00:35:15

store

00:35:15 --> 00:35:17

and there's a section on alcohol,

00:35:17 --> 00:35:18

you know,

00:35:18 --> 00:35:22

you just see all the destroyed families and

00:35:22 --> 00:35:24

and all the sorrow behind all of that.

00:35:24 --> 00:35:26

That doesn't mean I'm gonna go in there

00:35:26 --> 00:35:27

and start

00:35:27 --> 00:35:29

breaking all the bottles. That's not gonna accomplish

00:35:29 --> 00:35:31

anything. Right?

00:35:32 --> 00:35:34

But when I get a chance to educate

00:35:34 --> 00:35:35

people, I will,

00:35:36 --> 00:35:39

and I will hate that in my heart.

00:35:41 --> 00:35:43

K? So that's, an important point I wanted

00:35:43 --> 00:35:45

to make. So now we return to the

00:35:45 --> 00:35:46

question, why do we hate people?

00:35:48 --> 00:35:50

So one of the reasons that we hate

00:35:50 --> 00:35:50

others

00:35:51 --> 00:35:52

is arrogance.

00:35:53 --> 00:35:56

So that someone actually thinks that they are

00:35:56 --> 00:35:57

better than somebody else.

00:35:58 --> 00:36:00

This can be because of

00:36:01 --> 00:36:02

social factors.

00:36:02 --> 00:36:04

So in the Quran, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala

00:36:04 --> 00:36:05

talks about

00:36:05 --> 00:36:06

Innaqarunakanaminnaqawmi

00:36:07 --> 00:36:09

Musa fagahu alayhim.

00:36:09 --> 00:36:11

Qarun was from the people of Musa alayhis

00:36:11 --> 00:36:14

salam, and he rebelled against them. So great

00:36:14 --> 00:36:15

was his treasure

00:36:16 --> 00:36:18

that the keys literally, you know, he said

00:36:18 --> 00:36:20

the keys to the kingdom, the keys literally

00:36:20 --> 00:36:21

had to be carried by a bunch of

00:36:21 --> 00:36:23

people with strength because it was such a

00:36:23 --> 00:36:24

massive,

00:36:24 --> 00:36:25

treasure.

00:36:25 --> 00:36:27

But as people warned them, latafraha.

00:36:29 --> 00:36:30

Inna Allah Allah yuhibulfarihain.

00:36:31 --> 00:36:33

Don't elevate yourself.

00:36:33 --> 00:36:36

Don't exalt yourself above others.

00:36:36 --> 00:36:38

Allah does not care for these kinds of

00:36:38 --> 00:36:40

people, and of course he did.

00:36:41 --> 00:36:43

And as a result, Allah

00:36:43 --> 00:36:45

caused the earth to continuously

00:36:46 --> 00:36:48

have him swallow, and and that's will be

00:36:48 --> 00:36:49

his fate.

00:36:49 --> 00:36:52

Right? So that is,

00:36:52 --> 00:36:54

being arrogant out of social status.

00:36:55 --> 00:36:57

And so we actually think that we are

00:36:57 --> 00:37:00

superior to another, so we develop a hatred

00:37:00 --> 00:37:01

for those who have left. And you see

00:37:01 --> 00:37:02

this sometimes

00:37:03 --> 00:37:05

that people who have a lot when they

00:37:05 --> 00:37:06

see someone who don't who doesn't,

00:37:07 --> 00:37:09

the assumptions come. Oh, they had bad parents.

00:37:10 --> 00:37:12

You know, someone who is,

00:37:13 --> 00:37:15

homeless on the street. Oh, they're all

00:37:16 --> 00:37:16

drug dealers.

00:37:17 --> 00:37:19

They're all addicts. They all have mental health

00:37:19 --> 00:37:20

problems.

00:37:22 --> 00:37:23

There's a lot of people

00:37:24 --> 00:37:26

who are on the streets, who are like

00:37:26 --> 00:37:28

you and I, who got a bad break,

00:37:29 --> 00:37:31

and any one of us could be in

00:37:31 --> 00:37:33

that same position. Just recently,

00:37:33 --> 00:37:35

someone contacted me

00:37:35 --> 00:37:36

and said this family

00:37:37 --> 00:37:39

is going to be evicted from rent.

00:37:39 --> 00:37:41

They're gonna be evicted. They can't pay their

00:37:41 --> 00:37:43

rent. Is there some way we can try

00:37:43 --> 00:37:44

to help them?

00:37:45 --> 00:37:47

And they said, what makes this even more

00:37:47 --> 00:37:49

difficult is they were very well off.

00:37:50 --> 00:37:51

And he said,

00:37:52 --> 00:37:52

imagine

00:37:53 --> 00:37:54

something like this in your families, to go

00:37:54 --> 00:37:56

from having so much

00:37:56 --> 00:37:58

to almost nothing. And you know where I

00:37:58 --> 00:38:00

also saw this when I was in Egypt

00:38:00 --> 00:38:02

during what happened in Syria, because a lot

00:38:02 --> 00:38:04

of Syrians came to Egypt at the time.

00:38:04 --> 00:38:06

These people are at the top of the

00:38:06 --> 00:38:06

chain,

00:38:07 --> 00:38:09

and now it's like they have to reset.

00:38:09 --> 00:38:10

And those are the people that made it

00:38:10 --> 00:38:11

out.

00:38:12 --> 00:38:13

There are many that didn't even make it

00:38:13 --> 00:38:15

out. So this arrogance develops

00:38:18 --> 00:38:20

because one thinks that they are superior

00:38:21 --> 00:38:23

from sort of a economic standpoint.

00:38:24 --> 00:38:26

And so as a result, a hatred comes.

00:38:26 --> 00:38:28

Another hatred that comes,

00:38:29 --> 00:38:30

in in regards to this is

00:38:31 --> 00:38:34

a feeling of superior superiority by race.

00:38:35 --> 00:38:38

So there are people that actually think because

00:38:38 --> 00:38:38

of their,

00:38:39 --> 00:38:42

ethnic background or the language they speak or

00:38:42 --> 00:38:44

their skin color that they actually are superior

00:38:45 --> 00:38:46

to others. Now it doesn't mean that they

00:38:46 --> 00:38:47

go along

00:38:48 --> 00:38:51

around and say, I am better than you.

00:38:51 --> 00:38:52

But you know what?

00:38:52 --> 00:38:54

That what shows it? Their actions.

00:38:56 --> 00:38:58

Actions are far more important than words.

00:38:59 --> 00:39:00

When you come

00:39:01 --> 00:39:02

and, you know, you're just,

00:39:03 --> 00:39:03

you just

00:39:04 --> 00:39:06

blow off the masjid volunteers and just park

00:39:06 --> 00:39:09

wherever you want and block everyone from getting

00:39:09 --> 00:39:11

up, you're telling me that you think you're

00:39:11 --> 00:39:12

beyond the rules.

00:39:13 --> 00:39:14

And you're basically

00:39:15 --> 00:39:17

thinking that you are better than others.

00:39:18 --> 00:39:20

Right? So a hatred develops

00:39:21 --> 00:39:24

for others that are not in your particular

00:39:24 --> 00:39:26

clan or whatever it is. Right?

00:39:27 --> 00:39:28

So

00:39:28 --> 00:39:31

that is one reason why, you know, people

00:39:31 --> 00:39:33

hate. In other, of course, is the environment

00:39:33 --> 00:39:34

that we're raised in.

00:39:34 --> 00:39:35

So

00:39:36 --> 00:39:37

are we raised in an environment

00:39:38 --> 00:39:39

of inequality,

00:39:39 --> 00:39:42

injustice? What what do people see in the

00:39:42 --> 00:39:44

homes that they grow up with

00:39:45 --> 00:39:46

grow up in?

00:39:46 --> 00:39:47

What are they seeing?

00:39:48 --> 00:39:49

And a lot of time, the hate just

00:39:49 --> 00:39:51

sort of carries over, and you ask them

00:39:51 --> 00:39:54

3 generations down, why do you hate this

00:39:54 --> 00:39:55

other group of people? And they can't give

00:39:55 --> 00:39:56

an answer.

00:39:58 --> 00:40:00

Because our great great great great grandfather

00:40:00 --> 00:40:01

hated them.

00:40:02 --> 00:40:03

You know? But most of the time,

00:40:04 --> 00:40:05

it would be nice if someone actually asked

00:40:05 --> 00:40:07

them, but no one asked them. So generations

00:40:07 --> 00:40:10

and generations go on, and they're just copying

00:40:10 --> 00:40:12

the same thing that was that was there

00:40:12 --> 00:40:13

before. Right?

00:40:16 --> 00:40:18

Now that's so that's another reason. But there's

00:40:18 --> 00:40:19

another

00:40:20 --> 00:40:22

reason why, and I want to be hopeful

00:40:22 --> 00:40:25

and say that this is the biggest reason

00:40:25 --> 00:40:26

because

00:40:26 --> 00:40:28

it's the easiest to change, and that is

00:40:28 --> 00:40:29

simply

00:40:29 --> 00:40:30

ignorance.

00:40:32 --> 00:40:34

People just don't know.

00:40:34 --> 00:40:35

You know, I saw the other day there

00:40:35 --> 00:40:37

was somebody was passing by a masjid.

00:40:38 --> 00:40:41

He posted on social media, and he's urinating

00:40:41 --> 00:40:43

in front of a sign of an Islamic

00:40:43 --> 00:40:45

center. And he says, found some place, you

00:40:45 --> 00:40:46

know, to

00:40:48 --> 00:40:50

to use the the bathroom. He didn't say

00:40:50 --> 00:40:51

that, but he said something else.

00:40:52 --> 00:40:53

And he's posting himself

00:40:54 --> 00:40:54

urinating

00:40:55 --> 00:40:56

in front of the must have thing.

00:40:57 --> 00:40:59

I don't know if I felt hatred. I

00:40:59 --> 00:41:01

felt sad for his ignorance.

00:41:03 --> 00:41:05

Now on the surface, he may appear like

00:41:05 --> 00:41:08

he hates Muslims or others, but it's probably

00:41:08 --> 00:41:10

and almost certainly because of ignorance.

00:41:12 --> 00:41:13

He doesn't know.

00:41:13 --> 00:41:15

And a lot of people around us, they

00:41:15 --> 00:41:17

they're in it's it's out of ignorance. They

00:41:17 --> 00:41:18

don't genuinely

00:41:19 --> 00:41:21

hate Muslims or hate other people.

00:41:22 --> 00:41:23

They

00:41:23 --> 00:41:24

they don't know.

00:41:26 --> 00:41:27

And so

00:41:27 --> 00:41:29

it's really important to keep that in mind

00:41:29 --> 00:41:30

because that will

00:41:30 --> 00:41:31

soften our heart

00:41:32 --> 00:41:33

and make the default

00:41:33 --> 00:41:36

that this person doesn't know. The default shouldn't

00:41:36 --> 00:41:38

be that this person is evil.

00:41:40 --> 00:41:41

Many of us

00:41:41 --> 00:41:43

in the environments we grew up in,

00:41:44 --> 00:41:46

in in western countries,

00:41:47 --> 00:41:49

it may not be well, actually, I can't.

00:41:49 --> 00:41:51

I don't wanna speak for every western country.

00:41:51 --> 00:41:53

But I'll say, at least in America, the

00:41:53 --> 00:41:56

average person's like a nice person. They're they're

00:41:56 --> 00:41:58

they're not they don't like, the default is

00:41:58 --> 00:41:59

not that we hate people.

00:42:00 --> 00:42:01

Right?

00:42:02 --> 00:42:04

And any single one of those people,

00:42:06 --> 00:42:06

there's a chance

00:42:07 --> 00:42:09

that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala can give them

00:42:09 --> 00:42:11

guidance. Maybe he put us in their lives

00:42:11 --> 00:42:12

for a reason.

00:42:13 --> 00:42:15

But do you really think that they hate

00:42:15 --> 00:42:17

Islam as much as Omar

00:42:17 --> 00:42:19

did before his conversion?

00:42:19 --> 00:42:21

I don't I don't think so.

00:42:21 --> 00:42:23

But are they unaware

00:42:24 --> 00:42:26

and ignorant of many teachings? Of course.

00:42:27 --> 00:42:28

Of course, they are.

00:42:30 --> 00:42:32

And if they are, then, you know, it's

00:42:32 --> 00:42:33

it's easier

00:42:35 --> 00:42:38

to to fix ignorance than it is generations

00:42:38 --> 00:42:39

of people, you know, where this stuff is

00:42:39 --> 00:42:42

passed down, or to change the environment that

00:42:42 --> 00:42:44

they're in. So So I think that's really

00:42:44 --> 00:42:46

crucial. The the crux of the story

00:42:47 --> 00:42:49

is that no one is beyond guidance.

00:42:50 --> 00:42:51

And

00:42:51 --> 00:42:55

if Umar Radiallahu An can be guided, then

00:42:55 --> 00:42:55

even

00:42:56 --> 00:42:59

despite the environment that we are in now,

00:43:00 --> 00:43:02

and just the constant back and forth

00:43:03 --> 00:43:04

arguing and,

00:43:04 --> 00:43:06

you know, call this person out and call

00:43:06 --> 00:43:07

that person out,

00:43:09 --> 00:43:10

instead of that,

00:43:10 --> 00:43:12

you know, someone once said very, very beautiful,

00:43:12 --> 00:43:14

let's have a call in culture.

00:43:14 --> 00:43:16

Let's call you in. Let's have a discussion

00:43:17 --> 00:43:19

instead of just shutting you out, and we

00:43:19 --> 00:43:20

don't want to,

00:43:21 --> 00:43:23

talk about anything. Right? Let's not give anybody

00:43:23 --> 00:43:26

the benefit of the doubt. Let's just just

00:43:26 --> 00:43:28

cancel them. Right? That's not the culture that

00:43:28 --> 00:43:30

we want to live in,

00:43:30 --> 00:43:31

and

00:43:32 --> 00:43:33

the story of

00:43:33 --> 00:43:36

shows us truly that anyone is,

00:43:37 --> 00:43:39

is capable of guidance. Now in in these

00:43:39 --> 00:43:41

last just minute or so,

00:43:42 --> 00:43:43

of course, Omar Radialahuan

00:43:44 --> 00:43:45

was a,

00:43:46 --> 00:43:49

convert to Islam. Just wanna make some brief

00:43:49 --> 00:43:50

points about,

00:43:50 --> 00:43:53

our convert brothers and sisters. Whether you prefer

00:43:53 --> 00:43:55

convert or revert, I think it's just semantics,

00:43:55 --> 00:43:57

whatever you prefer. You know?

00:44:00 --> 00:44:01

But I I think we need to be

00:44:01 --> 00:44:02

careful

00:44:03 --> 00:44:03

by

00:44:04 --> 00:44:05

putting them in positions,

00:44:07 --> 00:44:09

that is not fair to them.

00:44:10 --> 00:44:11

You know, Omar,

00:44:11 --> 00:44:12

he was

00:44:13 --> 00:44:14

he wasn't

00:44:14 --> 00:44:16

asked to go and like, that was just

00:44:16 --> 00:44:18

who he was. He's like, we're gonna pray.

00:44:18 --> 00:44:20

We're gonna start praying publicly.

00:44:21 --> 00:44:23

I'm gonna fend off people that are trying

00:44:23 --> 00:44:23

to

00:44:24 --> 00:44:26

intimidate or harass Muslims that are frank. That

00:44:26 --> 00:44:28

was, like, that was him. That's who he

00:44:28 --> 00:44:29

was. Right?

00:44:30 --> 00:44:32

But a lot of times, we take converts,

00:44:32 --> 00:44:34

and we just wanna put them in such

00:44:34 --> 00:44:37

a difficult position, like, they are now representatives

00:44:37 --> 00:44:38

of Islam,

00:44:39 --> 00:44:41

while they're working through their stuff

00:44:41 --> 00:44:43

as if we don't have plenty of stuff

00:44:43 --> 00:44:44

to work through ourselves.

00:44:45 --> 00:44:46

And that is

00:44:47 --> 00:44:48

that is not a good place to put

00:44:48 --> 00:44:51

them, particularly those that, you know, have maybe

00:44:52 --> 00:44:54

some sort of a public following, whether it's

00:44:54 --> 00:44:57

locally, whether it's nationally, whether it's internationally. I

00:44:57 --> 00:44:58

think it's incredibly unfair,

00:45:00 --> 00:45:01

to put them in that position,

00:45:02 --> 00:45:02

and,

00:45:03 --> 00:45:04

you know, I I just hope that we

00:45:04 --> 00:45:06

will we will think about that and give

00:45:06 --> 00:45:08

consideration to that. So,

00:45:09 --> 00:45:11

so this is just some reflections,

00:45:11 --> 00:45:14

on the life of Omar Radiullah. As I

00:45:14 --> 00:45:16

said, there's many directions we could take it,

00:45:16 --> 00:45:17

but,

00:45:17 --> 00:45:20

just sort of seeing what's happening nowadays, that's

00:45:21 --> 00:45:21

sort of what,

00:45:22 --> 00:45:24

what resonated with me. May Allah

00:45:25 --> 00:45:28

grant us the courage, strength,

00:45:28 --> 00:45:29

and mercy

00:45:30 --> 00:45:30

of.

00:45:31 --> 00:45:32

And, may

00:45:33 --> 00:45:34

Allah accept our

00:45:34 --> 00:45:35

in these days of.

00:45:43 --> 00:45:44

Thank you so much

00:45:44 --> 00:45:46

for sharing those reflections is always

00:45:47 --> 00:45:49

even though it's a story that many of

00:45:49 --> 00:45:51

us grew up with, but it's always powerful

00:45:51 --> 00:45:53

when we're able to take these well known

00:45:53 --> 00:45:55

stories and apply them to the modern context.

00:45:55 --> 00:45:56

Right? And to understand what it is, how

00:45:56 --> 00:45:58

can I engage with this,

00:45:58 --> 00:45:59

with this lesson

00:46:00 --> 00:46:01

based on what I'm dealing with every day?

00:46:01 --> 00:46:02

And so we ask a lot of our

00:46:02 --> 00:46:04

time to bless you and reward you.

00:46:04 --> 00:46:06

Let's see, I know there were a couple

00:46:07 --> 00:46:08

of quick questions in the chat.

00:46:08 --> 00:46:10

Have to keep me honest. Do we have

00:46:10 --> 00:46:11

time for a couple of questions?

00:46:11 --> 00:46:13

We okay? Alright. Great.

00:46:14 --> 00:46:16

Great. So, one question that came through in

00:46:16 --> 00:46:18

the chat, Sheikh Omar, was,

00:46:19 --> 00:46:21

what techniques did Omar use

00:46:21 --> 00:46:23

for anger management that we could also implement?

00:46:24 --> 00:46:25

We often we see this

00:46:26 --> 00:46:28

transition in his life of going from, you

00:46:28 --> 00:46:30

know, being very stern to

00:46:31 --> 00:46:33

being soft in so many cases, right, without,

00:46:33 --> 00:46:35

you know, losing his, you losing his ability

00:46:35 --> 00:46:37

to stand up when he needed to. Is

00:46:37 --> 00:46:39

there anything that we can glean from how

00:46:39 --> 00:46:40

he approached,

00:46:41 --> 00:46:42

that aspect of his life?

00:46:44 --> 00:46:45

One of the most common,

00:46:47 --> 00:46:50

techniques used across the mental health professions

00:46:50 --> 00:46:54

is something known as cognitive behavioral therapy

00:46:54 --> 00:46:56

or CBT for short.

00:46:56 --> 00:46:58

Basically, what that's saying is

00:46:59 --> 00:47:00

how we think

00:47:02 --> 00:47:02

affects

00:47:03 --> 00:47:06

how we feel and what we ultimately do.

00:47:06 --> 00:47:08

Like, our actions are linked to our thoughts.

00:47:10 --> 00:47:11

When we look at Umar, what

00:47:13 --> 00:47:14

changed?

00:47:15 --> 00:47:17

What changed was the mentality.

00:47:19 --> 00:47:21

So when I when when I hear anger

00:47:21 --> 00:47:23

management, that seems to me like someone has

00:47:23 --> 00:47:26

an anger problem, and they can't control it.

00:47:26 --> 00:47:29

When I think of Umar, I think of

00:47:29 --> 00:47:29

someone

00:47:30 --> 00:47:30

who

00:47:31 --> 00:47:34

just despised Islam before his conversion

00:47:34 --> 00:47:37

and just naturally being, you know, kind of

00:47:37 --> 00:47:38

tough and rugged,

00:47:38 --> 00:47:41

he did things like, you know, spitting on

00:47:41 --> 00:47:43

companions and and, you know, and and doing

00:47:43 --> 00:47:44

things like that.

00:47:44 --> 00:47:47

So I don't think it was an issue

00:47:47 --> 00:47:49

of him not being able to control his

00:47:49 --> 00:47:49

temper,

00:47:50 --> 00:47:52

but when he became Muslim, it's just the

00:47:52 --> 00:47:55

energy was channeled to something else.

00:47:56 --> 00:47:58

So now when he had that conviction,

00:47:59 --> 00:48:01

now anything that was

00:48:02 --> 00:48:04

against Islam, that's where the energy was being

00:48:05 --> 00:48:06

channeled.

00:48:06 --> 00:48:07

So now

00:48:08 --> 00:48:10

we want his strength and toughness

00:48:10 --> 00:48:12

when the mushrikeen are attacking,

00:48:13 --> 00:48:15

right, when they are on the battlefield.

00:48:16 --> 00:48:17

And

00:48:18 --> 00:48:20

his passion and zeal for Islam

00:48:20 --> 00:48:22

was a beautiful compliment

00:48:22 --> 00:48:25

for with the other companions that were around,

00:48:25 --> 00:48:28

like like Ali radiAllahu and like Abu Bakr,

00:48:28 --> 00:48:29

and, you know, of course, with the prophet

00:48:29 --> 00:48:31

sallallahu alaihi wasallam.

00:48:31 --> 00:48:33

So I don't I don't think that it's

00:48:33 --> 00:48:35

a it's a matter of that, you know,

00:48:35 --> 00:48:38

he had, like, anger issues. It's just that

00:48:38 --> 00:48:39

the mentality

00:48:39 --> 00:48:40

shifted.

00:48:41 --> 00:48:41

And

00:48:42 --> 00:48:44

a lot of times that determines how our,

00:48:45 --> 00:48:47

behavior is. You know? The the the Quran

00:48:48 --> 00:48:50

teaches us to think like a Muslim as

00:48:50 --> 00:48:52

much as it tells us about actions, and

00:48:52 --> 00:48:54

same with the sunnah of the prophet

00:48:55 --> 00:48:56

So if something

00:48:56 --> 00:48:58

terrible happens to us,

00:48:58 --> 00:49:01

our mentality is there's some good in it.

00:49:01 --> 00:49:03

If it's a test, we're trying to pass

00:49:03 --> 00:49:05

it. If it's a punishment, we're trying to

00:49:05 --> 00:49:06

go back to Allah

00:49:06 --> 00:49:08

so it's removed. That's a completely different mentality

00:49:09 --> 00:49:11

than why does God allow this to happen

00:49:11 --> 00:49:12

to children in Palestine?

00:49:13 --> 00:49:14

You know, that's not

00:49:15 --> 00:49:17

that doesn't register with us.

00:49:17 --> 00:49:18

Sometimes,

00:49:18 --> 00:49:20

you know, I hear, Muslims saying,

00:49:20 --> 00:49:22

you know, oh, my iman is getting weak

00:49:22 --> 00:49:24

because of what's happening in Palestine. You know

00:49:24 --> 00:49:26

whose iman is not getting weak? The people

00:49:26 --> 00:49:28

in Palestine themselves.

00:49:29 --> 00:49:31

Why is that? Because their mentality

00:49:32 --> 00:49:34

their mentality is connected to Allah subhanahu wa

00:49:34 --> 00:49:35

ta'ala.

00:49:35 --> 00:49:37

So I don't know if there was

00:49:37 --> 00:49:40

specific techniques and that he had an anger

00:49:40 --> 00:49:42

problem. I think that it was just that

00:49:42 --> 00:49:45

it was channeled, and what he was passionate

00:49:45 --> 00:49:46

about was directed

00:49:47 --> 00:49:48

into a positive

00:49:49 --> 00:49:51

and healthy and productive direction.

00:49:51 --> 00:49:53

You know? Just like,

00:49:54 --> 00:49:55

you know, maybe someone training,

00:49:56 --> 00:49:58

in jujitsu or something. Like, you it's directed

00:49:58 --> 00:50:00

to something positive.

00:50:00 --> 00:50:02

And if self defense is needed, then, you

00:50:02 --> 00:50:05

know, then you utilize it. So that's that's

00:50:05 --> 00:50:06

how I see it.

00:50:11 --> 00:50:11

Excellent.

00:50:12 --> 00:50:15

For sharing that. Really appreciate that, and appreciate

00:50:15 --> 00:50:15

your time today.

00:50:17 --> 00:50:18

In all of your efforts, and thank you

00:50:18 --> 00:50:19

for,

00:50:19 --> 00:50:23

sharing this amazing reflection about the story of

00:50:23 --> 00:50:25

Omar, the best, one of the best of

00:50:25 --> 00:50:28

stories in the best of days. I really

00:50:28 --> 00:50:29

appreciate it.

00:50:35 --> 00:50:37

Hope everyone enjoyed this session. Alhamdulillah.

00:50:37 --> 00:50:39

Really was enriching for me, and I saw

00:50:39 --> 00:50:41

in the chat so much engagement as well.

00:50:41 --> 00:50:44

Appreciate everyone's engagement and involvement in,

00:50:44 --> 00:50:46

as always, Alhamdulillah, we're always a very supportive

00:50:46 --> 00:50:48

and engaged community. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala

00:50:48 --> 00:50:50

continue to bless you. Keep in mind, if

00:50:50 --> 00:50:52

you had a question that didn't get answered,

00:50:52 --> 00:50:54

ta'ala.

00:51:32 --> 00:51:34

Also, of course, as we are moving forward

00:51:34 --> 00:51:36

in these days, we wanna make sure that

00:51:36 --> 00:51:38

we're increasing our knowledge, and that we're increasing

00:51:38 --> 00:51:41

our rewards, our our dhikr, and that we're

00:51:41 --> 00:51:43

increasing our giving. If you benefited from today's

00:51:43 --> 00:51:45

session, and I know many of you, I

00:51:45 --> 00:51:46

00:51:46 --> 00:51:48

names time and time again in class.

00:51:49 --> 00:51:49

We have,

00:51:50 --> 00:51:51

so much that

00:51:52 --> 00:51:52

is offering

00:51:53 --> 00:51:54

in terms of

00:51:54 --> 00:51:57

scholarship support for students, in terms of, programs

00:51:57 --> 00:51:59

for our young people, programs for those who

00:51:59 --> 00:52:01

wanna travel and see the world,

00:52:01 --> 00:52:03

programs for online, for on-site

00:52:04 --> 00:52:05

at the conferences.

00:52:05 --> 00:52:06

We're all over

00:52:07 --> 00:52:09

trying to forward to to push forward the

00:52:09 --> 00:52:09

mission

00:52:10 --> 00:52:12

of the best experience in Islamic education,

00:52:12 --> 00:52:14

and that happens through your support. We're a

00:52:14 --> 00:52:16

non profit, and so we do ask that

00:52:16 --> 00:52:18

you continue to support us as well by

00:52:18 --> 00:52:19

visiting almagrib.org/donate.

00:52:20 --> 00:52:22

So we do ask that you continue to

00:52:22 --> 00:52:24

be generous, alhamdulillah. We know so many of

00:52:24 --> 00:52:26

you have been very generous in your support,

00:52:26 --> 00:52:27

and we ask Allah

00:52:28 --> 00:52:30

to bless you in that regard.

00:52:31 --> 00:52:31

Insha'Allah,

00:52:32 --> 00:52:33

we are

00:52:34 --> 00:52:36

about set to move forward. I believe,

00:52:37 --> 00:52:39

I want to see if Ustadh Dataimiyyah

00:52:40 --> 00:52:42

is with us. Let me check my screen.

00:52:42 --> 00:52:43

Yes.

00:52:45 --> 00:52:46

It's so nice to see you again.

00:52:48 --> 00:52:49

How are you doing?

00:52:52 --> 00:52:54

Good to see you here again as well.

00:52:56 --> 00:52:59

We're all set to start reflect reflections inshallah

00:52:59 --> 00:53:00

to Allah. Let's begin.

00:53:03 --> 00:53:04

To everyone.

00:53:23 --> 00:53:24

So

00:53:24 --> 00:53:26

the conversion of Umar RadiAllahu Anhu,

00:53:28 --> 00:53:31

what an amazing story it is. And,

00:53:32 --> 00:53:34

you know, it reminds you of the fact

00:53:34 --> 00:53:37

that guidance is truly in the hand of

00:53:37 --> 00:53:37

Allah,

00:53:38 --> 00:53:38

right?

00:53:39 --> 00:53:42

The person for whom Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala

00:53:42 --> 00:53:42

intends guidance,

00:53:43 --> 00:53:43

SubhanAllah,

00:53:44 --> 00:53:47

they will be guided. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala

00:53:47 --> 00:53:49

will change their heart. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala

00:53:49 --> 00:53:50

will open up their heart

00:53:51 --> 00:53:52

to accept guidance.

00:53:53 --> 00:53:55

Right. Omar Radiallahu Anhu was someone who was

00:53:55 --> 00:53:58

so deep in his so intense in his

00:53:58 --> 00:53:58

hatred,

00:53:59 --> 00:54:01

right, for Islam. Like, imagine

00:54:01 --> 00:54:03

not just Islam as a concept, as a

00:54:03 --> 00:54:05

religion, but the people.

00:54:05 --> 00:54:09

Right? The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam SubhanAllah,

00:54:09 --> 00:54:10

he was

00:54:10 --> 00:54:11

someone

00:54:11 --> 00:54:13

who hated them, someone who opposed them.

00:54:14 --> 00:54:17

But Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala changed his heart.

00:54:17 --> 00:54:18

Right? So,

00:54:18 --> 00:54:20

I thought about, you know, which with the

00:54:20 --> 00:54:22

which duas to cover today, which theme to

00:54:22 --> 00:54:25

cover today, and I was like, how about

00:54:25 --> 00:54:26

duas for guidance?

00:54:27 --> 00:54:28

Because

00:54:28 --> 00:54:30

this is what we learn from the story

00:54:30 --> 00:54:32

of Rama Rudi lahu aranhu.

00:54:32 --> 00:54:33

So,

00:54:34 --> 00:54:35

we see that

00:54:36 --> 00:54:38

the most important Dua.

00:54:38 --> 00:54:40

All right. And the Dua that we're supposed

00:54:40 --> 00:54:41

to make

00:54:42 --> 00:54:43

the most frequently

00:54:44 --> 00:54:46

is actually the dua for

00:54:46 --> 00:54:47

guidance.

00:54:47 --> 00:54:48

Right?

00:54:48 --> 00:54:50

Right in the beginning of the Quran.

00:54:50 --> 00:54:53

Ihdinas Surat al Mustaqeem Allah

00:54:53 --> 00:54:56

teaches us that we should say this, that,

00:54:56 --> 00:54:59

Oh Allah, guide us to the straight path.

00:55:00 --> 00:55:02

And this dua is not just a dua

00:55:02 --> 00:55:04

that we have been taught in the Quran.

00:55:05 --> 00:55:07

This is a dua that we're supposed to

00:55:07 --> 00:55:10

make in every single salah, in every single

00:55:10 --> 00:55:10

rakah.

00:55:11 --> 00:55:13

Right? It is as though the purpose of

00:55:13 --> 00:55:14

salah

00:55:14 --> 00:55:17

is to ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for

00:55:17 --> 00:55:17

guidance.

00:55:18 --> 00:55:19

Because if you're praying

00:55:20 --> 00:55:22

and you don't recite Suratul Fatiha, right, your

00:55:22 --> 00:55:23

rakara,

00:55:23 --> 00:55:25

that that unit, it does not count. Right?

00:55:25 --> 00:55:26

You have to

00:55:27 --> 00:55:29

repeat that entire raka.

00:55:29 --> 00:55:31

Your salah is not valid

00:55:31 --> 00:55:32

without,

00:55:33 --> 00:55:35

without the recitation of Surat Al Fatiha.

00:55:36 --> 00:55:37

Right? And this is one of the reasons

00:55:37 --> 00:55:39

why Surat Al Fatiha is also called a

00:55:39 --> 00:55:40

salat,

00:55:40 --> 00:55:42

because it is the essence,

00:55:43 --> 00:55:45

the main purpose of of prayer

00:55:45 --> 00:55:47

that you ask Allah

00:55:47 --> 00:55:48

for

00:55:48 --> 00:55:49

guidance.

00:55:50 --> 00:55:51

And this is because

00:55:52 --> 00:55:53

without hidayah,

00:55:54 --> 00:55:57

without guidance, there is no success. There is

00:55:57 --> 00:55:58

no salvation.

00:55:59 --> 00:56:01

A person will be a loser

00:56:02 --> 00:56:04

no matter who they become in this world

00:56:04 --> 00:56:06

and no matter what they attain in this

00:56:06 --> 00:56:06

world.

00:56:07 --> 00:56:09

If they don't have Hidayah,

00:56:10 --> 00:56:11

they will be an eternal

00:56:12 --> 00:56:12

loser.

00:56:13 --> 00:56:15

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us in the

00:56:15 --> 00:56:15

Quran

00:56:15 --> 00:56:16

that,

00:56:18 --> 00:56:19

Whoever

00:56:19 --> 00:56:21

follows my guidance,

00:56:21 --> 00:56:23

meaning the guidance that I send.

00:56:23 --> 00:56:25

And the person who follows that guidance,

00:56:26 --> 00:56:27

then that is the person who.

00:56:30 --> 00:56:32

Right? There will be no fear on them,

00:56:32 --> 00:56:34

and they and they will not grieve, meaning

00:56:34 --> 00:56:37

they're the ones who will enter paradise,

00:56:38 --> 00:56:40

which means that the opposite is also true.

00:56:40 --> 00:56:42

Those who do not follow the guidance that

00:56:42 --> 00:56:44

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala sends,

00:56:44 --> 00:56:46

right, then where will they be?

00:56:47 --> 00:56:49

What condition will they be in? They will

00:56:49 --> 00:56:51

be in a state of permanent fear and

00:56:51 --> 00:56:53

never ending grief.

00:56:54 --> 00:56:55

And that is juhannam.

00:56:56 --> 00:56:56

SubhanAllah.

00:56:57 --> 00:57:00

So without guidance, there is no salvation. There

00:57:00 --> 00:57:01

is no success.

00:57:02 --> 00:57:04

And the reason why we ask Allah Subhanahu

00:57:04 --> 00:57:05

Wa Ta'ala for guidance

00:57:06 --> 00:57:07

is because

00:57:07 --> 00:57:10

guidance is not something that a person can

00:57:10 --> 00:57:11

attain themselves.

00:57:13 --> 00:57:15

Guidance is something that Allah

00:57:16 --> 00:57:16

gives,

00:57:17 --> 00:57:18

and he knows

00:57:19 --> 00:57:20

about who is worthy

00:57:21 --> 00:57:22

of that guidance.

00:57:23 --> 00:57:25

He guides those who turn to him. He

00:57:25 --> 00:57:27

guides those who seek that guidance.

00:57:28 --> 00:57:30

But guidance is not something that you can

00:57:30 --> 00:57:33

acquire on your own without

00:57:33 --> 00:57:34

Allah. It's not possible.

00:57:35 --> 00:57:38

It is something that you ask Allah

00:57:38 --> 00:57:40

for, and he gives it.

00:57:41 --> 00:57:43

So and and this is why guidance is

00:57:43 --> 00:57:45

not even something that you can give to

00:57:45 --> 00:57:47

others. Right? Allah

00:57:47 --> 00:57:48

tells his messenger

00:57:48 --> 00:57:49

that

00:57:53 --> 00:57:53

Right?

00:57:54 --> 00:57:56

You cannot guide those whom you love, no

00:57:56 --> 00:57:58

matter how much you love them. Because guidance

00:57:58 --> 00:58:00

is not in your hand.

00:58:03 --> 00:58:06

It is Allah who guides whomever that he

00:58:06 --> 00:58:06

wills.

00:58:08 --> 00:58:08

And

00:58:09 --> 00:58:11

the other thing is that either a person

00:58:12 --> 00:58:13

is upon guidance

00:58:14 --> 00:58:16

or they are upon misguidance.

00:58:17 --> 00:58:19

Alright? There is no third option.

00:58:20 --> 00:58:22

This is why we ask Allah Subhanahu Wa

00:58:22 --> 00:58:23

Ta'ala for Hidayah

00:58:26 --> 00:58:28

that guide us to the straight path, which

00:58:28 --> 00:58:29

is

00:58:31 --> 00:58:34

the path of those whom you have bestowed

00:58:34 --> 00:58:35

favor on, meaning the people

00:58:35 --> 00:58:38

whose whose actions you have accepted,

00:58:38 --> 00:58:41

whose deeds you are pleased with, who have

00:58:41 --> 00:58:44

attained your approval, and who will be admitted

00:58:44 --> 00:58:44

into paradise.

00:58:45 --> 00:58:46

Right? And then we

00:58:49 --> 00:58:52

say, not the path of those who incurred

00:58:52 --> 00:58:53

anger in your anger

00:58:54 --> 00:58:56

and not the path of those who are

00:58:56 --> 00:58:56

astray.

00:58:57 --> 00:58:57

So

00:58:58 --> 00:59:00

those who are astray are those who are

00:59:00 --> 00:59:02

lost, meaning those who don't know any better.

00:59:02 --> 00:59:03

And those who

00:59:03 --> 00:59:05

receive the wrath of Allah

00:59:06 --> 00:59:08

are those who know what the truth is.

00:59:08 --> 00:59:11

Right? They recognize what the truth is,

00:59:11 --> 00:59:14

yet they reject it, it, yet they oppose

00:59:14 --> 00:59:14

it.

00:59:15 --> 00:59:17

So they're also not rightly guided.

00:59:18 --> 00:59:18

So,

00:59:19 --> 00:59:21

there is no alternative

00:59:22 --> 00:59:22

to hidayah.

00:59:23 --> 00:59:25

Right? There is no alternative.

00:59:26 --> 00:59:28

This is this is the only way to

00:59:28 --> 00:59:28

salvation.

00:59:30 --> 00:59:32

And this is why we ask Allah

00:59:33 --> 00:59:34

for Hidayah.

00:59:36 --> 00:59:38

Now let's talk a little bit about what

00:59:38 --> 00:59:39

exactly Hidayah

00:59:40 --> 00:59:42

is, what it means. Alright. And also the

00:59:42 --> 00:59:43

levels of guidance.

00:59:44 --> 00:59:46

And why we should be asking for guidance

00:59:46 --> 00:59:47

even though we're already Muslim.

00:59:48 --> 00:59:50

Right? Because generally we think guide us to

00:59:50 --> 00:59:52

the straight path, meaning guide me to Islam.

00:59:52 --> 00:59:54

Well, I'm already Muslim. I'm praying.

00:59:55 --> 00:59:56

Right? I'm praying.

00:59:56 --> 00:59:58

So why am I asking for guidance?

00:59:58 --> 00:59:59

Because

00:59:59 --> 01:00:01

guidance is not

01:00:01 --> 01:00:02

simply to

01:00:03 --> 01:00:03

show someone

01:00:04 --> 01:00:05

what the right path is.

01:00:06 --> 01:00:07

Okay?

01:00:07 --> 01:00:10

Hidaiya is yes. It is to show someone

01:00:10 --> 01:00:11

what the right path is,

01:00:12 --> 01:00:15

but then, hidaya is also to ensure

01:00:15 --> 01:00:17

that they remain

01:00:17 --> 01:00:18

on the right path.

01:00:19 --> 01:00:22

They don't veer off of it. Alright? And

01:00:22 --> 01:00:23

then

01:00:23 --> 01:00:24

is to

01:00:24 --> 01:00:27

to guide someone is to ensure that they

01:00:27 --> 01:00:29

reach the destination.

01:00:30 --> 01:00:30

Alright?

01:00:31 --> 01:00:32

So hidaya

01:00:33 --> 01:00:34

is not just

01:00:34 --> 01:00:35

instruction.

01:00:36 --> 01:00:39

Okay? That that here, this is what you

01:00:39 --> 01:00:42

need to do. No. Hidaya is to give

01:00:42 --> 01:00:42

the instruction,

01:00:43 --> 01:00:45

but then also to enable,

01:00:46 --> 01:00:49

to assist, to allow, to follow the instruction.

01:00:50 --> 01:00:51

Alright?

01:00:51 --> 01:00:52

And then to ensure

01:00:53 --> 01:00:54

that a person

01:00:54 --> 01:00:56

attains the right results,

01:00:56 --> 01:00:58

they actually get to the destination that they

01:00:58 --> 01:00:59

want to get to.

01:01:00 --> 01:01:02

Right? This is what hidayah is.

01:01:02 --> 01:01:04

So when we are asking Allah

01:01:04 --> 01:01:06

for guidance, we're not just asking, oh, Allah,

01:01:06 --> 01:01:07

guide me to Islam.

01:01:08 --> 01:01:10

We're asking, Allah, oh, Allah, keep me firm

01:01:10 --> 01:01:11

on Islam.

01:01:12 --> 01:01:14

Oh Allah, enable me to remain firm on

01:01:14 --> 01:01:16

Islam until I meet you,

01:01:16 --> 01:01:18

until I enter paradise.

01:01:18 --> 01:01:20

Make me reach the very end.

01:01:20 --> 01:01:22

Idina sliratum mustaqim.

01:01:23 --> 01:01:26

Now when it comes to Hidaya, there are

01:01:26 --> 01:01:28

levels of guidance. K. There's levels of Hidaya.

01:01:30 --> 01:01:31

The first,

01:01:31 --> 01:01:33

level of hidayah,

01:01:33 --> 01:01:34

of instruction,

01:01:34 --> 01:01:35

is to

01:01:36 --> 01:01:38

is, what is,

01:01:38 --> 01:01:41

known as, you can say, general hidayah. Alright?

01:01:41 --> 01:01:42

Which Allah

01:01:42 --> 01:01:43

gives to

01:01:43 --> 01:01:45

all the creatures.

01:01:45 --> 01:01:46

Okay?

01:01:46 --> 01:01:47

He is the one who.

01:01:52 --> 01:01:53

Right? He has guided

01:01:54 --> 01:01:55

every creature,

01:01:56 --> 01:01:57

as to,

01:01:57 --> 01:02:00

what it should eat, how it should live.

01:02:00 --> 01:02:01

Right? How it should breathe,

01:02:02 --> 01:02:04

how it should find its sustenance.

01:02:04 --> 01:02:05

This intuition,

01:02:06 --> 01:02:07

this this instruction

01:02:07 --> 01:02:08

is from who?

01:02:09 --> 01:02:11

This is from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.

01:02:11 --> 01:02:13

Alright. But and this is the basic level

01:02:13 --> 01:02:14

of hidayah

01:02:14 --> 01:02:17

in which you can say human beings and

01:02:17 --> 01:02:17

animals,

01:02:18 --> 01:02:20

they're the same. Allah

01:02:21 --> 01:02:23

has, you know, he has guided us as

01:02:23 --> 01:02:25

to how to breathe, how to open our

01:02:25 --> 01:02:25

eyes,

01:02:26 --> 01:02:27

right, how to walk.

01:02:27 --> 01:02:30

And the same kind of, you know, instruction,

01:02:30 --> 01:02:32

intuition is given to who? The rest of

01:02:32 --> 01:02:34

the creatures as well. Right?

01:02:35 --> 01:02:37

But then there is a higher level of

01:02:37 --> 01:02:38

hidaya, which is

01:02:38 --> 01:02:39

to teach.

01:02:40 --> 01:02:41

Okay?

01:02:41 --> 01:02:43

And this is the reason why

01:02:43 --> 01:02:43

Allah

01:02:44 --> 01:02:45

has

01:02:45 --> 01:02:48

sent his messengers, his prophets.

01:02:48 --> 01:02:50

This is why he sent,

01:02:50 --> 01:02:51

revelation,

01:02:51 --> 01:02:53

right, different scriptures

01:02:53 --> 01:02:55

over the course of the centuries.

01:02:55 --> 01:02:57

Why? To teach people

01:02:58 --> 01:03:02

about what the truth is, about what Allah

01:03:02 --> 01:03:05

wants from them, about how they should live

01:03:05 --> 01:03:08

in a way that is pleasing to Allah.

01:03:08 --> 01:03:09

Alright?

01:03:09 --> 01:03:12

And this kind of guidance is something that

01:03:13 --> 01:03:16

the prophets of Allah were sent to impart.

01:03:16 --> 01:03:17

Right? So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in

01:03:17 --> 01:03:19

the Quran, wa inna kalatahdi

01:03:20 --> 01:03:20

irasuraatulmustaqim.

01:03:22 --> 01:03:24

That, oh, prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,

01:03:24 --> 01:03:27

you guide people to the straight path, meaning

01:03:27 --> 01:03:28

you show them

01:03:28 --> 01:03:30

what the straight path is.

01:03:30 --> 01:03:33

Right? You teach them as to what the

01:03:33 --> 01:03:34

straight path is.

01:03:35 --> 01:03:35

Alright.

01:03:36 --> 01:03:38

Now there is an even higher level of

01:03:38 --> 01:03:41

Hidaya, which is the Hidaya of Tawfirq.

01:03:42 --> 01:03:45

Okay? Which is to enable someone

01:03:45 --> 01:03:47

to accept the truth.

01:03:47 --> 01:03:48

The prophet

01:03:49 --> 01:03:52

showed people what the straight path is, but

01:03:52 --> 01:03:54

not everybody accepted it.

01:03:54 --> 01:03:57

Right? Like his uncle Abu Talib did not

01:03:57 --> 01:03:57

accept it.

01:03:58 --> 01:03:58

Umar

01:03:59 --> 01:04:01

accepted it. Right? This

01:04:02 --> 01:04:03

is because Tawfiq

01:04:04 --> 01:04:05

comes from Allah.

01:04:05 --> 01:04:09

The ability to accept the truth comes from

01:04:09 --> 01:04:10

Allah alone.

01:04:10 --> 01:04:11

Okay?

01:04:11 --> 01:04:14

Now there is an even higher level of

01:04:14 --> 01:04:15

guidance, which is

01:04:16 --> 01:04:18

guidance to the path to paradise,

01:04:19 --> 01:04:21

which is essentially guidance to Jannah.

01:04:21 --> 01:04:23

And this is going to be on the

01:04:23 --> 01:04:24

day of judgment

01:04:24 --> 01:04:27

when the believers will be guided to paradise.

01:04:28 --> 01:04:29

Okay?

01:04:29 --> 01:04:31

So when we ask Allah

01:04:32 --> 01:04:32

for guidance,

01:04:36 --> 01:04:37

We're asking Allah

01:04:38 --> 01:04:40

to guide us in this world

01:04:41 --> 01:04:43

and also in the next world.

01:04:44 --> 01:04:47

In this world, we're asking Allah, oh Allah,

01:04:48 --> 01:04:50

teach me what the truth is.

01:04:51 --> 01:04:53

Give me the ability to accept the truth.

01:04:53 --> 01:04:56

Give me the ability to adhere to it.

01:04:56 --> 01:04:58

Allow me to die on it.

01:04:59 --> 01:05:00

And then on the day of judgment,

01:05:01 --> 01:05:02

guide me

01:05:03 --> 01:05:05

to Jannah. Don't let me slip

01:05:06 --> 01:05:07

on the on

01:05:08 --> 01:05:09

the. Allow me to

01:05:09 --> 01:05:11

pass that with safety,

01:05:11 --> 01:05:12

with security

01:05:13 --> 01:05:14

until I enter paradise.

01:05:15 --> 01:05:15

So

01:05:18 --> 01:05:20

is not just a simple request to, you

01:05:20 --> 01:05:22

know, that that, oh, Allah, guide me to

01:05:22 --> 01:05:23

Islam.

01:05:23 --> 01:05:25

Now let's let's break this down a little

01:05:25 --> 01:05:27

bit more. We're asking Allah

01:05:28 --> 01:05:30

to guide us here, now, in this world,

01:05:30 --> 01:05:33

on the straight path. What does that mean?

01:05:33 --> 01:05:36

That means that we're asking Allah Subhanahu Wa

01:05:36 --> 01:05:36

Ta'ala

01:05:37 --> 01:05:39

to guide us to the correct beliefs

01:05:40 --> 01:05:42

and also to the correct actions.

01:05:44 --> 01:05:44

Okay?

01:05:45 --> 01:05:46

Correct beliefs,

01:05:47 --> 01:05:48

meaning: O

01:05:48 --> 01:05:49

Allah,

01:05:49 --> 01:05:50

give me such

01:05:51 --> 01:05:51

knowledge.

01:05:52 --> 01:05:52

Okay?

01:05:53 --> 01:05:55

That removes doubts.

01:05:56 --> 01:05:58

Give me such understanding

01:05:58 --> 01:06:01

of the truth that brings me conviction.

01:06:03 --> 01:06:04

Such conviction

01:06:05 --> 01:06:07

that I don't fall for lies

01:06:07 --> 01:06:10

no matter how convincing they may seem and

01:06:10 --> 01:06:12

no matter how common they become.

01:06:13 --> 01:06:13

Okay?

01:06:14 --> 01:06:14

And

01:06:15 --> 01:06:18

ibn Sa'adi, he said that when we ask

01:06:18 --> 01:06:18

Allah for guidance,

01:06:20 --> 01:06:22

we're basically asking Allah

01:06:22 --> 01:06:23

for the truth,

01:06:24 --> 01:06:27

that, oh, Allah, enable us to recognize the

01:06:27 --> 01:06:27

truth,

01:06:28 --> 01:06:30

lead us towards the truth,

01:06:31 --> 01:06:33

and make us adhere to the truth.

01:06:35 --> 01:06:37

And sometimes what happens is that the truth

01:06:37 --> 01:06:38

becomes very obscure

01:06:39 --> 01:06:41

because of the lies of people or because

01:06:41 --> 01:06:43

there's so much conflict,

01:06:43 --> 01:06:44

right, that you don't know

01:06:45 --> 01:06:47

what the truth is, what what the right

01:06:47 --> 01:06:48

thing is.

01:06:49 --> 01:06:52

And even, you know, in in domestic affairs

01:06:52 --> 01:06:53

sometimes, you know, when you in in in

01:06:53 --> 01:06:56

situations of conflict, things become very

01:06:57 --> 01:06:58

unclear.

01:06:58 --> 01:06:59

Right? Very tricky.

01:07:00 --> 01:07:02

It's it's very difficult to even see between

01:07:02 --> 01:07:04

your children who is right and who is

01:07:04 --> 01:07:04

wrong.

01:07:05 --> 01:07:06

Right? So

01:07:07 --> 01:07:07

the prophet

01:07:09 --> 01:07:11

when he would begin his tahajjud prayers, he

01:07:11 --> 01:07:14

would he would he would make a certain

01:07:14 --> 01:07:14

dua.

01:07:19 --> 01:07:19

Dua.

01:07:33 --> 01:07:36

Oh Allah, guide me to the truth

01:07:37 --> 01:07:39

in in in matters in which there is,

01:07:40 --> 01:07:41

in which there is a lot of difference.

01:07:42 --> 01:07:45

So with your permission, guide me to what

01:07:45 --> 01:07:46

is the truth.

01:07:51 --> 01:07:53

It is only you who can guide people

01:07:53 --> 01:07:55

to the straight path.

01:07:56 --> 01:07:57

So when we ask Allah

01:07:58 --> 01:07:59

for guidance in this world, what is it

01:07:59 --> 01:08:02

that we're asking Allah for? 1st and foremost,

01:08:03 --> 01:08:04

knowledge, awareness.

01:08:05 --> 01:08:07

Right? The ability to see the truth, to

01:08:07 --> 01:08:08

recognize the truth.

01:08:09 --> 01:08:11

The second thing we're asking Allah subhanahu wa

01:08:11 --> 01:08:13

ta'ala for is that, oh, Allah,

01:08:14 --> 01:08:17

guide me to such actions that are pleasing

01:08:17 --> 01:08:18

to you.

01:08:20 --> 01:08:21

Such acts of worship

01:08:21 --> 01:08:23

that you will accept.

01:08:24 --> 01:08:25

Such

01:08:25 --> 01:08:26

and such

01:08:27 --> 01:08:28

that you will be pleased with.

01:08:29 --> 01:08:32

Because sometimes what happens, people are trying really

01:08:32 --> 01:08:34

hard to, you know, to please Allah,

01:08:35 --> 01:08:37

but their actions are based on pure ignorance.

01:08:37 --> 01:08:40

And so those actions are not accepted by

01:08:40 --> 01:08:41

Allah. Right?

01:08:41 --> 01:08:42

Or they are contrary

01:08:43 --> 01:08:45

to the teachings of the prophet sallallahu alaihi

01:08:45 --> 01:08:46

wa sallam. So, again,

01:08:47 --> 01:08:49

because their actions are based on big innovation,

01:08:50 --> 01:08:52

their actions will not be accepted by Allah.

01:08:53 --> 01:08:53

So,

01:08:55 --> 01:08:58

oh, Allah, guide us to such actions that

01:08:58 --> 01:08:59

are pleasing to you,

01:08:59 --> 01:09:01

that will be accepted by you.

01:09:03 --> 01:09:04

And also

01:09:05 --> 01:09:08

guide us in the in the hereafter, meaning,

01:09:08 --> 01:09:10

to Jannah.

01:09:11 --> 01:09:13

And Ibn Khayim said that the more firm

01:09:13 --> 01:09:15

a person is on the straight path in

01:09:15 --> 01:09:16

this life,

01:09:16 --> 01:09:19

the more firm and steadfast they will be

01:09:19 --> 01:09:21

on the path to paradise on the day

01:09:21 --> 01:09:22

of judgment.

01:09:22 --> 01:09:24

And either way that you are on the

01:09:24 --> 01:09:26

straight path now, the way your,

01:09:27 --> 01:09:29

faith is the way your actions are,

01:09:29 --> 01:09:33

that will become your physical, your tangible condition

01:09:33 --> 01:09:35

on the day of judgment. That is how

01:09:35 --> 01:09:37

you will cross the bridge on the day

01:09:37 --> 01:09:37

of judgment.

01:09:38 --> 01:09:39

So

01:09:40 --> 01:09:41

Now there's a question.

01:09:42 --> 01:09:44

Why is it that we are asking Allah

01:09:45 --> 01:09:48

for guidance over and over and over and

01:09:48 --> 01:09:49

over again?

01:09:49 --> 01:09:50

Why?

01:09:50 --> 01:09:51

Hey.

01:09:51 --> 01:09:53

It's it's something that we repeat

01:09:54 --> 01:09:56

so many, many times.

01:09:57 --> 01:09:58

Why do you think so? You can you

01:09:58 --> 01:10:00

can write in the chat. I finally have

01:10:00 --> 01:10:01

the chat open in front of me.

01:10:02 --> 01:10:03

Okay.

01:10:04 --> 01:10:05

Because there are too many temptations.

01:10:06 --> 01:10:08

Right? Because it's very easy to get derailed.

01:10:08 --> 01:10:09

Good.

01:10:10 --> 01:10:13

So we don't forget. Alright. Good. There's too

01:10:13 --> 01:10:16

many worldly distractions. We are very vulnerable.

01:10:17 --> 01:10:19

Guidance is not always guaranteed.

01:10:21 --> 01:10:23

We can make mistakes. The heart can easily

01:10:23 --> 01:10:25

turn. Masha'Allah. Excellent responses.

01:10:26 --> 01:10:28

The reason why we ask

01:10:29 --> 01:10:31

for guidance over and over again is because

01:10:31 --> 01:10:33

we are always

01:10:33 --> 01:10:35

in need of guidance.

01:10:37 --> 01:10:38

In every

01:10:38 --> 01:10:39

single

01:10:39 --> 01:10:43

moment, in every single affair, in every single

01:10:43 --> 01:10:44

situation,

01:10:44 --> 01:10:46

We are always in need of guidance.

01:10:47 --> 01:10:48

Why did Allah

01:10:48 --> 01:10:49

create us?

01:10:50 --> 01:10:52

He created us to test us.

01:10:56 --> 01:10:58

Right? To test you as to which of

01:10:58 --> 01:10:58

you

01:10:58 --> 01:11:00

are excellent in terms of action.

01:11:02 --> 01:11:05

So every action that we do, right, any

01:11:05 --> 01:11:06

action,

01:11:06 --> 01:11:07

big or small,

01:11:08 --> 01:11:10

we are being tested. And and, basically, we

01:11:10 --> 01:11:11

have a choice,

01:11:11 --> 01:11:13

right, to say one word or another,

01:11:14 --> 01:11:17

to respond in one way or another.

01:11:18 --> 01:11:18

Right?

01:11:19 --> 01:11:22

So given that we're always deciding what to

01:11:22 --> 01:11:23

do,

01:11:23 --> 01:11:25

what to say, how to respond, what to

01:11:25 --> 01:11:27

do with our time, what to do with

01:11:27 --> 01:11:28

our resources,

01:11:29 --> 01:11:31

then what are we in need of?

01:11:31 --> 01:11:31

Guidance.

01:11:32 --> 01:11:33

That we make the best decisions.

01:11:34 --> 01:11:36

Right? We we say those things that are

01:11:36 --> 01:11:38

pleasing to Allah. We do those things which

01:11:38 --> 01:11:40

are pleasing to Allah.

01:11:41 --> 01:11:43

How merciful is Allah

01:11:43 --> 01:11:46

that he didn't just put us in in

01:11:46 --> 01:11:47

in this test

01:11:48 --> 01:11:49

and leave us to ourselves.

01:11:51 --> 01:11:53

He put us in this test,

01:11:53 --> 01:11:54

and then he also

01:11:55 --> 01:11:57

is here with us guiding us.

01:11:58 --> 01:12:01

And he has obligated us to ask him

01:12:01 --> 01:12:02

for guidance.

01:12:05 --> 01:12:07

So we're always in need of guidance.

01:12:07 --> 01:12:09

Right? Now if you think about it,

01:12:10 --> 01:12:11

if a person

01:12:11 --> 01:12:13

is doing something wrong and they don't even

01:12:13 --> 01:12:14

know about it,

01:12:15 --> 01:12:17

And they're asking Allah for guidance.

01:12:18 --> 01:12:19

What does that mean?

01:12:20 --> 01:12:23

It means that Allah will now guide them

01:12:23 --> 01:12:24

to repentance.

01:12:25 --> 01:12:28

Right? Guide them to knowledge and awareness.

01:12:28 --> 01:12:29

I remember,

01:12:31 --> 01:12:33

a sister once came up to me and

01:12:33 --> 01:12:34

mentioned to me about how she was a

01:12:34 --> 01:12:36

regular in in my classes. And

01:12:37 --> 01:12:39

she mentioned to me about how,

01:12:40 --> 01:12:41

not too long

01:12:42 --> 01:12:44

before she joined the classes, she was

01:12:45 --> 01:12:46

living in a different country,

01:12:48 --> 01:12:49

in a haram relationship,

01:12:50 --> 01:12:51

raised as a Muslim,

01:12:52 --> 01:12:54

but she had no idea that what she

01:12:54 --> 01:12:55

was doing was wrong.

01:12:56 --> 01:12:57

She had no idea.

01:12:58 --> 01:13:00

This also happens at people

01:13:00 --> 01:13:03

who are raised as Muslim, they don't even

01:13:03 --> 01:13:05

know what the basic haram things are.

01:13:06 --> 01:13:08

Alright? So she's living with her fiance, a

01:13:08 --> 01:13:10

non Muslim fiance, and,

01:13:11 --> 01:13:13

she doesn't even know that what she's doing

01:13:13 --> 01:13:14

is wrong.

01:13:14 --> 01:13:15

Okay?

01:13:16 --> 01:13:17

And Supamalala, she said that

01:13:18 --> 01:13:19

she was at

01:13:20 --> 01:13:22

some party, some gathering somewhere, and this lady,

01:13:24 --> 01:13:26

you know, was asking her about, you know,

01:13:26 --> 01:13:29

how's things and what are you doing. And

01:13:29 --> 01:13:29

when she mentioned

01:13:30 --> 01:13:32

to her about, you know, how she she

01:13:32 --> 01:13:33

had already moved in with her fiance

01:13:34 --> 01:13:36

and whatnot, and that he was not a

01:13:36 --> 01:13:36

Muslim.

01:13:37 --> 01:13:40

She said the lady said to her that,

01:13:40 --> 01:13:42

you know, I think you should do istikhara.

01:13:43 --> 01:13:45

And she's like, what is that?

01:13:45 --> 01:13:48

And she's like, well, you pray to raka,

01:13:48 --> 01:13:49

and then she gave her the dua, and

01:13:49 --> 01:13:51

she said, make this dua.

01:13:51 --> 01:13:52

Right? Because,

01:13:53 --> 01:13:54

and she and she said, you know, make

01:13:54 --> 01:13:56

us dua. Ask Allah.

01:13:57 --> 01:13:58

And she's like, I didn't get the point

01:13:58 --> 01:14:00

of that because, like, I I didn't even

01:14:00 --> 01:14:02

know. I didn't even feel that I was

01:14:02 --> 01:14:03

doing anything wrong. But this lady's like, do

01:14:03 --> 01:14:05

is stikhala. Or what? She said, I don't

01:14:05 --> 01:14:06

know.

01:14:06 --> 01:14:08

But she said, I did

01:14:08 --> 01:14:10

it. She said, I prayed 2 rakah, and

01:14:10 --> 01:14:11

I made that dua.

01:14:12 --> 01:14:13

And she said, since I did that, there

01:14:13 --> 01:14:15

was something in my heart that I just

01:14:15 --> 01:14:17

wanted to get out of there.

01:14:17 --> 01:14:19

I wanted to get out of there.

01:14:19 --> 01:14:21

So she moved back to the country where

01:14:21 --> 01:14:22

her parents are from.

01:14:23 --> 01:14:23

And

01:14:24 --> 01:14:26

she you know, it was just something so

01:14:26 --> 01:14:28

strong in her heart that she, you know,

01:14:28 --> 01:14:30

she broke off that engagement. And then,

01:14:31 --> 01:14:32

you know, how she

01:14:33 --> 01:14:35

because she did give you know, ask her

01:14:35 --> 01:14:36

fiance if he would convert to Islam or

01:14:36 --> 01:14:38

not, but he refused. And subhanAllah,

01:14:39 --> 01:14:40

you know, how Allah

01:14:40 --> 01:14:41

guided her.

01:14:42 --> 01:14:44

Right? She was someone who didn't even know

01:14:44 --> 01:14:46

that she was doing something wrong.

01:14:46 --> 01:14:48

But when she asked Allah for guidance, what

01:14:48 --> 01:14:49

happened? Allah

01:14:50 --> 01:14:51

guided her

01:14:51 --> 01:14:52

to make tawba.

01:14:53 --> 01:14:54

Right?

01:14:54 --> 01:14:57

Guided her to learn about what is right,

01:14:57 --> 01:14:58

what is wrong.

01:14:59 --> 01:15:01

And how often it happens

01:15:02 --> 01:15:04

that we're doing something wrong. There's something wrong

01:15:04 --> 01:15:05

in our akhlaq,

01:15:06 --> 01:15:08

but we fail to recognize it.

01:15:09 --> 01:15:11

There's something wrong in the way that we're

01:15:11 --> 01:15:12

behaving with our parents,

01:15:13 --> 01:15:15

and we fail to recognize it. There's something

01:15:15 --> 01:15:17

wrong in the way that we're dealing with

01:15:17 --> 01:15:18

our siblings, that we're children.

01:15:19 --> 01:15:20

We fail to recognize

01:15:21 --> 01:15:23

it. Right? So when we ask Allah for

01:15:23 --> 01:15:24

guidance,

01:15:25 --> 01:15:27

what happens? Allah

01:15:27 --> 01:15:28

shows us the way

01:15:29 --> 01:15:31

so that we're able to see the mistakes

01:15:31 --> 01:15:33

that we're making. We're able to recognize

01:15:34 --> 01:15:35

the wrongs that we're doing.

01:15:36 --> 01:15:39

And Allah gives us the tawfiq to repent.

01:15:41 --> 01:15:43

Now, if we're doing something good,

01:15:44 --> 01:15:44

okay,

01:15:44 --> 01:15:46

based on knowledge,

01:15:46 --> 01:15:48

like for example, you're praying salah. Right? According

01:15:48 --> 01:15:49

to the sunnah,

01:15:50 --> 01:15:53

and you're praying on time. Excellent. Very good.

01:15:53 --> 01:15:55

Why are you asking Allah for hidayah?

01:15:55 --> 01:15:56

Well, because

01:15:57 --> 01:15:59

there's always room for improvement.

01:16:00 --> 01:16:03

Right? So when you ask Allah for Hidayah,

01:16:03 --> 01:16:05

you're asking Allah for the ability

01:16:05 --> 01:16:09

to beautify and perfect your prayer and to

01:16:09 --> 01:16:10

pray with more hushur,

01:16:11 --> 01:16:12

with more ihsan.

01:16:13 --> 01:16:13

Right?

01:16:14 --> 01:16:16

Sometimes what happens is

01:16:16 --> 01:16:18

that we know we're supposed to do, you

01:16:18 --> 01:16:20

know, certain good things. Like, for example, it's

01:16:21 --> 01:16:22

the days of Dhul Hijjah, the first 10

01:16:22 --> 01:16:25

days of Dhul Hijjah. Right? Good deeds done

01:16:25 --> 01:16:27

at this time are more beloved to Allah,

01:16:27 --> 01:16:29

more rewarded by Allah than deeds done at

01:16:29 --> 01:16:30

any other time of the year.

01:16:31 --> 01:16:34

But what happens? You intend to do certain

01:16:34 --> 01:16:36

good deeds, but you still fail to do

01:16:36 --> 01:16:39

them. Why do you fail to do them?

01:16:39 --> 01:16:41

Because your circumstances don't allow you or because,

01:16:42 --> 01:16:44

you know, your nuffs overtakes you or

01:16:44 --> 01:16:46

something or the other happens and, you know,

01:16:46 --> 01:16:48

you're not able to do good.

01:16:49 --> 01:16:50

So when you're asking Allah,

01:16:51 --> 01:16:53

what are you asking for?

01:16:53 --> 01:16:54

Tawfiq

01:16:55 --> 01:16:56

and ease

01:16:56 --> 01:16:57

and the ability

01:16:57 --> 01:16:58

to do good.

01:17:00 --> 01:17:01

Sometimes what happens,

01:17:02 --> 01:17:02

your circumstances

01:17:03 --> 01:17:06

do allow you to do good. Like, for

01:17:06 --> 01:17:08

example, you have all the time to recite

01:17:08 --> 01:17:08

Quran.

01:17:09 --> 01:17:11

You do. You can recite the Quran.

01:17:12 --> 01:17:13

But what is holding you back?

01:17:14 --> 01:17:15

It is your naps.

01:17:16 --> 01:17:18

Right? So then again,

01:17:19 --> 01:17:21

oh, Allah, guide us to the straight path

01:17:21 --> 01:17:23

so that I can overcome my naps, and

01:17:23 --> 01:17:24

I can recite Quran in the time that

01:17:24 --> 01:17:25

you have given me.

01:17:26 --> 01:17:27

Right?

01:17:27 --> 01:17:31

So no matter what condition we are in,

01:17:31 --> 01:17:34

no matter what state we are in, what

01:17:34 --> 01:17:35

are we in need of?

01:17:36 --> 01:17:37

Guidance. And even if we

01:17:38 --> 01:17:41

have had guidance up until this point in

01:17:41 --> 01:17:41

our lives,

01:17:42 --> 01:17:45

there's no guarantee that there will be guidance

01:17:45 --> 01:17:46

in the future.

01:17:46 --> 01:17:49

Right? We want that guidance to continue.

01:17:50 --> 01:17:52

And this is why we ask Allah, iddin

01:17:52 --> 01:17:53

asrata al mustaqim.

01:17:53 --> 01:17:55

Because guidance is

01:17:55 --> 01:17:59

more important than anything else in your life.

01:17:59 --> 01:18:02

It's more important than food. It's more important

01:18:02 --> 01:18:03

than any kind of wealth.

01:18:04 --> 01:18:05

In fact, the Urimah said there is no

01:18:05 --> 01:18:08

comparison between guidance and any other blessing in

01:18:08 --> 01:18:09

your life.

01:18:09 --> 01:18:11

Because the one who has given hidayah,

01:18:13 --> 01:18:15

right, becomes of who? Those who are righteous.

01:18:15 --> 01:18:17

And those who are righteous, what does Allah

01:18:18 --> 01:18:19

say about them?

01:18:22 --> 01:18:23

That

01:18:26 --> 01:18:28

That whoever fears Allah, Allah

01:18:29 --> 01:18:30

will make a way out for him from

01:18:30 --> 01:18:33

every trouble and will provide him from where

01:18:33 --> 01:18:34

he does not even expect.

01:18:35 --> 01:18:36

You have Hidayah,

01:18:37 --> 01:18:39

Allah will provide for you.

01:18:39 --> 01:18:41

And if you don't have Hidayah,

01:18:41 --> 01:18:43

then no matter what you're given in this

01:18:43 --> 01:18:45

life, it's not gonna be of benefit

01:18:45 --> 01:18:47

to you. So it is more important than

01:18:47 --> 01:18:48

anything

01:18:48 --> 01:18:49

in this life.

01:18:50 --> 01:18:52

Another thing is that when it comes to

01:18:52 --> 01:18:52

Hidaya,

01:18:54 --> 01:18:56

the condition of the heart is such that

01:18:56 --> 01:18:58

it changes a lot.

01:18:58 --> 01:19:02

Right? It can suddenly change out of nowhere

01:19:02 --> 01:19:02

even.

01:19:04 --> 01:19:06

And the reason why the heart is called

01:19:06 --> 01:19:07

the Kalb

01:19:07 --> 01:19:10

Kalb is because it keeps turning about because

01:19:10 --> 01:19:11

of it's the qallub.

01:19:12 --> 01:19:13

It doesn't stay the same.

01:19:14 --> 01:19:15

In one hadith, the prophet

01:19:16 --> 01:19:18

mentioned that the heart is like a feather

01:19:18 --> 01:19:20

that is hanging off a tree.

01:19:20 --> 01:19:22

Like, imagine a feather that is attached to

01:19:22 --> 01:19:24

a tree, right, is just stuck.

01:19:24 --> 01:19:26

And as the wind blows,

01:19:27 --> 01:19:29

what happens to the the feather?

01:19:29 --> 01:19:32

It turns from one direction

01:19:32 --> 01:19:33

to another.

01:19:33 --> 01:19:35

And this is the state of the heart.

01:19:36 --> 01:19:38

Right? And this is why we keep asking

01:19:38 --> 01:19:39

Allah.

01:19:43 --> 01:19:46

We can never ask Allah for enough guidance.

01:19:47 --> 01:19:50

There's always always room for more guidance.

01:19:52 --> 01:19:55

Alright. Somebody's saying guidance is like the pumping

01:19:55 --> 01:19:57

of our blood around our body. It benefits

01:19:57 --> 01:20:00

every aspect of our body. Absolutely, it does.

01:20:02 --> 01:20:02

Excellent.

01:20:07 --> 01:20:08

Yeah. Sometimes the ego.

01:20:09 --> 01:20:10

Right? SubhanAllah.

01:20:10 --> 01:20:12

You know, when a person begins to think

01:20:12 --> 01:20:14

that, yeah, I you know, they become delusional,

01:20:14 --> 01:20:17

basically. They think that, yeah. I'm I'm fine.

01:20:17 --> 01:20:18

I'm perfect. I'm great.

01:20:20 --> 01:20:21

Then they stop.

01:20:22 --> 01:20:25

They they they they they fail to see,

01:20:26 --> 01:20:28

you know, places where improvement is needed.

01:20:29 --> 01:20:30

Right?

01:20:30 --> 01:20:33

And and that is a a recipe for

01:20:33 --> 01:20:33

disaster.

01:20:38 --> 01:20:38

Alright.

01:20:39 --> 01:20:41

If there's any comment somebody wants to make,

01:20:41 --> 01:20:43

I have a couple of points. I want

01:20:43 --> 01:20:43

to add them

01:20:44 --> 01:20:45

along with the reflections.

01:20:49 --> 01:20:49

Afsa?

01:20:51 --> 01:20:52

I mean,

01:20:54 --> 01:20:54

sorry.

01:20:55 --> 01:20:56

Go ahead.

01:20:56 --> 01:20:56

Yes.

01:20:57 --> 01:20:59

So, yes, if you have a reflection,

01:20:59 --> 01:21:02

and on topic and, hopefully, brief reflection just

01:21:02 --> 01:21:03

because you wanna get folks who want to

01:21:03 --> 01:21:04

be able to participate,

01:21:05 --> 01:21:07

then feel free, we're going to ask you

01:21:07 --> 01:21:09

to unmute. I know sister Rahma has had

01:21:09 --> 01:21:11

her hand up since the beginning pretty much

01:21:11 --> 01:21:13

of the session. Sister Rahma, if you have

01:21:13 --> 01:21:14

something to share, I'll go ahead and let

01:21:14 --> 01:21:15

you unmute and do so.

01:21:16 --> 01:21:17

Assalamu

01:21:17 --> 01:21:18

alaikum.

01:21:18 --> 01:21:19

How

01:21:25 --> 01:21:25

Good.

01:21:26 --> 01:21:28

You have something to share?

01:21:28 --> 01:21:29

Yes.

01:21:29 --> 01:21:29

So

01:21:33 --> 01:21:34

I wanted to say that

01:21:35 --> 01:21:36

that,

01:21:36 --> 01:21:37

like, Allah

01:21:37 --> 01:21:38

is,

01:21:39 --> 01:21:39

you know,

01:21:40 --> 01:21:41

the most merciful.

01:21:42 --> 01:21:42

Mhmm.

01:21:43 --> 01:21:44

So that's why that

01:21:45 --> 01:21:48

Allah gives us tests to test us.

01:21:48 --> 01:21:51

And in the Quran, it's also said,

01:21:52 --> 01:21:55

even though he says he believes,

01:21:56 --> 01:21:57

will will Allah

01:21:58 --> 01:21:59

not test him?

01:21:59 --> 01:22:01

Well, like the hypocrites

01:22:03 --> 01:22:03

in time

01:22:04 --> 01:22:06

sent, I believe, but Allah tested

01:22:07 --> 01:22:10

them. But they they were actually misguided.

01:22:10 --> 01:22:13

So they didn't tell the prophet Muhammad.

01:22:13 --> 01:22:14

There's also,

01:22:15 --> 01:22:17

a story. I heard somewhere

01:22:17 --> 01:22:21

that tells the hypocrites that they will also

01:22:21 --> 01:22:23

hurt the prophet, and they drop stone from

01:22:23 --> 01:22:24

the roof.

01:22:25 --> 01:22:27

That was the that was somebody else. But,

01:22:27 --> 01:22:29

yeah, there there were people who tried to

01:22:29 --> 01:22:30

hurt the prophet

01:22:31 --> 01:22:32

in many different ways.

01:22:32 --> 01:22:34

Yeah. Like Abu Jahl,

01:22:35 --> 01:22:37

who one day went to

01:22:37 --> 01:22:38

his house,

01:22:39 --> 01:22:40

and the people

01:22:40 --> 01:22:42

the people who tried to kill him went

01:22:42 --> 01:22:44

to sleep. And the prophet Muhammad

01:22:45 --> 01:22:46

Muhammad

01:22:46 --> 01:22:48

escaped in early morning,

01:22:49 --> 01:22:50

and Ali bin

01:22:50 --> 01:22:52

went to sleep in his bed instead.

01:22:53 --> 01:22:53

And

01:22:54 --> 01:22:55

Mhmm. Allah

01:22:56 --> 01:22:57

let nothing happen to him because,

01:23:00 --> 01:23:00

he had

01:23:01 --> 01:23:04

faith in him. So that's what Allah wants.

01:23:04 --> 01:23:06

We have we want to have faith in

01:23:06 --> 01:23:07

Allah.

01:23:09 --> 01:23:10

Mhmm.

01:23:12 --> 01:23:12

Alright.

01:23:13 --> 01:23:16

Somebody wrote in the chat something with Suratunas,

01:23:16 --> 01:23:17

And I thought, yeah. Solanjur,

01:23:18 --> 01:23:21

Surat Unas comes to mind. Yeah. Absolutely.

01:23:22 --> 01:23:24

Because in Surat Unas, we're asking Allah

01:23:24 --> 01:23:26

to protect us from waswas,

01:23:26 --> 01:23:29

right, from the whispers of Shaytan.

01:23:31 --> 01:23:33

Why? Because Shaytan's goal is to misguide us.

01:23:33 --> 01:23:34

Right?

01:23:34 --> 01:23:37

And, yes, cover to cover, there is guidance

01:23:37 --> 01:23:39

in his book. Absolutely.

01:23:40 --> 01:23:42

The Quran begins with

01:23:43 --> 01:23:46

Right? And then you move on to Surat

01:23:46 --> 01:23:48

Al Baqarah. And in Surat Al Baqarah, right

01:23:48 --> 01:23:49

at the beginning, Allah says,

01:23:52 --> 01:23:54

This book is a book of guidance.

01:23:55 --> 01:23:56

So Allah

01:23:56 --> 01:23:59

has sent the guidance, and and those who

01:23:59 --> 01:24:01

seek it will find it in his book.

01:24:02 --> 01:24:03

Alright. Hannah, go ahead.

01:24:10 --> 01:24:11

How are you?

01:24:12 --> 01:24:16

Good. Great session. I was I just wanted

01:24:16 --> 01:24:16

to,

01:24:17 --> 01:24:20

emphasize on what whatever you already said how,

01:24:22 --> 01:24:24

it's so important to continue to ask

01:24:26 --> 01:24:29

Allah for guidance, especially to remain steadfast because

01:24:29 --> 01:24:32

sometimes we in our head, we are thinking,

01:24:32 --> 01:24:35

oh, we are following everything that Allah has

01:24:35 --> 01:24:36

said. For example, offering,

01:24:37 --> 01:24:40

prayer or, you know, observing fasts or

01:24:41 --> 01:24:42

performing Hajj, for example.

01:24:43 --> 01:24:44

But, you know, to continue

01:24:45 --> 01:24:46

but as you said, there is

01:24:47 --> 01:24:50

there will always be room for improvement, and

01:24:50 --> 01:24:53

we should continue asking for

01:24:53 --> 01:24:54

guidance.

01:24:55 --> 01:24:57

And I think before today's session, I didn't

01:24:57 --> 01:25:00

not think about this perspective. So this was

01:25:00 --> 01:25:03

very helpful that we should continue asking for

01:25:03 --> 01:25:05

guidance even though we are already

01:25:06 --> 01:25:06

performing

01:25:07 --> 01:25:10

all the tasks. We are already fulfilling our

01:25:10 --> 01:25:11

first our obligations

01:25:12 --> 01:25:15

towards Islam. It's, it's always

01:25:15 --> 01:25:19

important to, you know, fulfill them with perfection,

01:25:19 --> 01:25:20

with more and more perfection

01:25:21 --> 01:25:22

and whatever it is

01:25:23 --> 01:25:25

in a way that is pleasing to Allah.

01:25:25 --> 01:25:26

Absolutely.

01:25:28 --> 01:25:30

And then also to any part of asking

01:25:30 --> 01:25:32

Allah for guidance is to, you know, is

01:25:32 --> 01:25:35

that we're asking Allah for for beneficial knowledge.

01:25:36 --> 01:25:38

Right? And how often it happens that we

01:25:38 --> 01:25:40

don't even know the most basic things

01:25:41 --> 01:25:44

or we we we don't even realize that

01:25:44 --> 01:25:45

we don't know.

01:25:45 --> 01:25:47

Right? And we don't

01:25:47 --> 01:25:49

and sometimes we don't

01:25:50 --> 01:25:50

recognize

01:25:51 --> 01:25:52

the deficiencies

01:25:52 --> 01:25:54

in our own selves,

01:25:54 --> 01:25:57

right, in our akhlaq, in our salah. Know

01:25:57 --> 01:25:59

how sometimes it happens. You're praying salah and

01:25:59 --> 01:26:01

somebody says to you, oh, by the way,

01:26:01 --> 01:26:03

your hands should have been here, not here.

01:26:03 --> 01:26:04

Right?

01:26:05 --> 01:26:06

And

01:26:07 --> 01:26:09

that somebody told us because we didn't know

01:26:09 --> 01:26:10

before that.

01:26:11 --> 01:26:14

So there's always room for improvement, for growth,

01:26:14 --> 01:26:15

for learning.

01:26:15 --> 01:26:18

Right? And that's why we're always asking Allah

01:26:18 --> 01:26:19

for guidance.

01:26:20 --> 01:26:22

Raissa, go ahead.

01:26:34 --> 01:26:36

But you said we can't hear you

01:26:36 --> 01:26:39

for some reason. You hear me now? Yes.

01:26:39 --> 01:26:41

Now we can hear you. Perfect. It was

01:26:41 --> 01:26:42

because of my earphones.

01:26:44 --> 01:26:46

Well, one one thing that,

01:26:47 --> 01:26:49

I I that this sort of session has

01:26:49 --> 01:26:51

made me think of is the way

01:26:52 --> 01:26:54

that some people, myself included, in the past

01:26:54 --> 01:26:55

have taken,

01:26:56 --> 01:26:58

you know, the comment, may Allah guide you

01:26:58 --> 01:27:00

as an insult. You know? If,

01:27:01 --> 01:27:04

especially, like, online, you know, if somebody comments

01:27:04 --> 01:27:06

that it's like a huge note. Oh my

01:27:06 --> 01:27:07

god. How could you say that to somebody?

01:27:08 --> 01:27:10

But I think what this session has made

01:27:10 --> 01:27:13

me realize is that, you know, even if

01:27:13 --> 01:27:15

somebody says that to you and they're coming

01:27:16 --> 01:27:17

and, you know, it comes from a place

01:27:17 --> 01:27:20

of arrogance, because sometimes it does. But even

01:27:20 --> 01:27:22

if it does come from a place of

01:27:22 --> 01:27:24

arrogance or they're saying that to belittle you,

01:27:24 --> 01:27:26

take it as a compliment. Like, because somebody

01:27:26 --> 01:27:27

saying may Allah guide you

01:27:28 --> 01:27:28

is

01:27:29 --> 01:27:31

actually such an important dua, and you should

01:27:31 --> 01:27:32

be thankful that, you know,

01:27:33 --> 01:27:35

however, like, whatever the intention is behind it,

01:27:36 --> 01:27:37

that, you know, that the law is being

01:27:37 --> 01:27:39

made for you. Because as you said, guidance

01:27:39 --> 01:27:41

is, like, the most important thing and

01:27:41 --> 01:27:43

the most important blessing. So I think that,

01:27:43 --> 01:27:44

you know,

01:27:44 --> 01:27:46

if somebody says I mean, if somebody says,

01:27:46 --> 01:27:48

I just say Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. We

01:27:48 --> 01:27:51

should. Not take it as an insult. Yeah.

01:27:51 --> 01:27:53

Thank you so much for pointing that out.

01:27:53 --> 01:27:53

Thank you.

01:27:55 --> 01:27:56

Alright. We'll take the last comment.

01:27:57 --> 01:27:57

Geneva?

01:28:07 --> 01:28:08

So,

01:28:08 --> 01:28:10

what really stood out to me I'll start

01:28:10 --> 01:28:12

with what Sheikh Omar said.

01:28:13 --> 01:28:14

So, like,

01:28:14 --> 01:28:16

the fact of

01:28:16 --> 01:28:17

what is it?

01:28:19 --> 01:28:20

How people are so ignorant,

01:28:21 --> 01:28:23

how arrogance is, like,

01:28:23 --> 01:28:26

such an important factor, and people often have,

01:28:26 --> 01:28:28

like, grudges

01:28:29 --> 01:28:31

and often are really angry and have all

01:28:31 --> 01:28:32

these things

01:28:32 --> 01:28:33

toward someone

01:28:34 --> 01:28:37

because of their ignorance, because they're not educated,

01:28:37 --> 01:28:38

and because Allah

01:28:39 --> 01:28:41

has not opened their hearts. Going back to

01:28:41 --> 01:28:42

the story of Umar

01:28:44 --> 01:28:45

he had, like, so much hate for the

01:28:45 --> 01:28:47

Muslims, but

01:28:47 --> 01:28:49

Allah guided him

01:28:49 --> 01:28:52

because Allah saw his potential and Allah

01:28:53 --> 01:28:55

guided him, and then he became one of

01:28:55 --> 01:28:56

the Hadifas.

01:28:58 --> 01:28:59

It was, like, really,

01:29:00 --> 01:29:01

significant to me.

01:29:02 --> 01:29:04

Very true. Very true. And, like,

01:29:05 --> 01:29:07

another thing that, I found really significant is,

01:29:07 --> 01:29:08

like,

01:29:09 --> 01:29:12

how, like, somebody, like, was hating someone. Like,

01:29:12 --> 01:29:14

that example, like, when somebody is hating someone

01:29:14 --> 01:29:17

because, like, their, great grandfather or something,

01:29:18 --> 01:29:20

or whoever from like, their ancestors

01:29:20 --> 01:29:21

hated him.

01:29:22 --> 01:29:23

Like,

01:29:25 --> 01:29:28

so it shouldn't be, like, because somebody else

01:29:28 --> 01:29:31

did it. You should do your own research.

01:29:31 --> 01:29:32

You should get

01:29:32 --> 01:29:33

educated yourself

01:29:34 --> 01:29:34

before,

01:29:36 --> 01:29:38

taking grudges or being angry at someone. And

01:29:38 --> 01:29:39

when that happens,

01:29:40 --> 01:29:42

like you said, you should you should feel,

01:29:42 --> 01:29:43

like, kind of bad for them

01:29:44 --> 01:29:45

and give them so

01:29:46 --> 01:29:48

instead of being angry.

01:29:48 --> 01:29:51

Mhmm. And going on to what you said,

01:29:51 --> 01:29:52

Estadatemia,

01:29:54 --> 01:29:55

about guidance,

01:29:55 --> 01:29:59

Allah like, who's really significant to me is

01:29:59 --> 01:30:02

that Allah guides whoever he wills.

01:30:03 --> 01:30:04

So,

01:30:04 --> 01:30:05

even though, like,

01:30:07 --> 01:30:10

he was trying to get his uncle,

01:30:10 --> 01:30:11

Abu Talib,

01:30:11 --> 01:30:13

to even though he was such a good

01:30:13 --> 01:30:13

uncle,

01:30:14 --> 01:30:16

he isn't going to go to paradise because

01:30:16 --> 01:30:19

he did not convert to Islam. He was

01:30:19 --> 01:30:21

ignorant despite how much

01:30:22 --> 01:30:23

prophet

01:30:23 --> 01:30:24

Mohammed

01:30:24 --> 01:30:26

tried to convert to Islam,

01:30:26 --> 01:30:29

he said no. He refused. He was educated,

01:30:29 --> 01:30:31

but he refused because Allah

01:30:32 --> 01:30:34

did not accept it for him. Allah had

01:30:34 --> 01:30:37

sealed his heart, but then going back to

01:30:38 --> 01:30:41

he didn't even know anything about Islam. He

01:30:41 --> 01:30:43

was ignorant, but Allah opened his heart. So

01:30:43 --> 01:30:46

it's really profound, like, that nobody

01:30:46 --> 01:30:47

can open.

01:30:48 --> 01:30:49

Like, nobody can,

01:30:50 --> 01:30:52

guide someone. Give you guidance. Right? It is

01:30:52 --> 01:30:53

Allah who guides.

01:30:55 --> 01:30:58

Alright. There's a lot to say, but,

01:30:58 --> 01:31:00

it's 6:19, and I think we should

01:31:01 --> 01:31:03

end the program now. Go ahead.

01:31:07 --> 01:31:09

Always wonderful to hear from those bright, bright

01:31:09 --> 01:31:11

spots in our young.

01:31:11 --> 01:31:13

Thank you all for sharing, for taking the

01:31:13 --> 01:31:14

time, and for being with us this evening.

01:31:14 --> 01:31:16

May Allah sponsor bless you. Thank you so

01:31:16 --> 01:31:17

much, Tamia, for,

01:31:18 --> 01:31:20

01:31:20 --> 01:31:22

reflections about that, and for everyone for joining

01:31:22 --> 01:31:25

us for Dhul Hijjah 360. Inshallah,
