How will you feel when you hold on
to your faith and you died in that
state? How will you feel when you hold
on to your faith and you are martyred
in this world? How will you feel when
you hold on to your faith and you
are given victory in this world? How will
you feel when you hold on to your
faith and Allah honors you, And the angels
welcome you, and the believers are waiting for
you. And on the day of judgement you're
lifted to the highest ranks of paradise.
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi.
I heard somebody up here say it's about
to be lit.
Okay. Masha'Allah.
Alright. Setting the bar high, Masha'Allah.
As usual,
that we are here.
We are alive. We have many blessings. We
cannot begin to count.
May Allah
accept from everyone who facilitates gatherings like this
and all those who partake. Because when you
join, when you participate in a conference like
this,
celebration of knowledge, a local class or halaqa,
what you end up doing is creating the
momentum for those programs to continue. So you
are part of that sadaqa jariyah vision to
change civilization. So may Allah accept from all
of you a round of applause to the
attendees this time, inshaAllah.
Our story today begins with a story of
hindsight.
After the fact, what happens when you succeed?
The concept of feeling a moment of victory
could be the example of the believers on
the day of judgment receiving their books in
the right hands
and saying what?
Come read my book. You will be so
elated,
so happy, so joyous,
you will forget
every single pain of this world.
One step
into jannah erases every moment of discipline
and discomfort
of a dunya in the pursuit of a
lost pleasure. May Allah
grant us that consistency
on the day of judgement
and in fact right when they die,
right when they are taken from this world.
The martyrs, the shuhada are honored.
On the day of judgement, you will find
the people of the Quran
are elevated and honored. The people who have
good character in this world, they are honored
and brought close to the prophet
May Allah make us from amongst them. Those
who are oppressed,
those who are killed,
those who suffer from Gaza to Sudan and
East Turkestan and Kashmir in the United States
and all around the world, past, present, and
future.
May Allah grant them the greatest reward
for their patience. Say amen.
Now on the day of judgment,
you might run into some of the people
of the ditch, Ashabil Uhudud,
the people who are literally killed. You'll hear
more about them shortly, Insha'Allah ta'ala. You might
run into some of those who are murdered
in bedid or Uhud. Imagine meeting them. You
might be amongst those who have the opportunity
to meet Assia
alaihis
salaam. You just heard her story.
You might meet some of your brothers and
sisters today who are live streaming their own
genocide,
and yet some parts of the world still
turn away from what is obvious. When we
talk about this reality, I want you to
hone in on one specific
psychological issue,
the thought of reframing
discomfort.
What does this mean? When we look at
what many psychologists are telling us,
the concept of reframing, thinking about something from
a different lens, from a different perspective,
may help you to overcome that moment.
It's not disappearing,
but it may help you to remain strong
when you go through pain. It may help
you to look at it differently
and sometimes you'll find that contentment, that optimism,
that strength
in something you thought was impossible.
Now you can use this with rebada, you
can use this with your exams in school,
you can think of Ramadan and how you
fast. Your body is saying, I'm hungry, I'm
uncomfortable
with this hunger or caffeine withdrawal,
but you're saying what? This is for Allah.
What makes sliam
fasting worth it? You know the reward. You
know the obligation. You know you're pleasing Allah.
You know the self discipline. When you fast,
you're developing a strength that you will need
later on.
So you find in that moment the thought
of victory after fasting,
the thought of entering jannah, your name is
being announced on the day of judgment
to enter from Badir Rayyan. May Allah make
us from amongst them.
So what's the number one advice here? We'll
talk about 2 principles insha'Allah and a conclusion.
The first principle
is to think of positive discomfort.
We'll use the word discomfort on a scale
of 0 to a100. May be mild, and
it may be the most severe pain someone
can experience on Earth.
Positive discomfort is when you're uncomfortable
in the pursuit of something good, not bad.
Positive discomfort is when you're seeking a lost
pleasure,
but there's some discomfort in a dunya in
some way, some part of that trial. So
what do psychologists say amongst the many pieces
of advice that can help you?
Think in the first person.
This discomfort
is my growth,
it's my victory,
it's my gratitude to Allah, you standing for
Qiyamulay,
you holding on when things are very tough.
It's not always going to be easy, but
the reward is worth it. And so the
theme of this very talk is about looking
at things from a different perspective.
The view. Where is the view coming from?
The view that's mentioned in the Quran is
the view that's of the future.
How will you feel when you hold on
to your faith and you died in that
state? How will you feel when you hold
on to your faith and you are martyred
in this world? How will you feel when
you hold on to your faith and you
are given victory in this world? How will
you feel when you hold on to your
faith and Allah honors you and the angels
welcome you and the believers are waiting for
you? And on the day of judgment, you're
lifted to the highest ranks of paradise. So
the first principle,
reframe
positive
discomfort
as a form of victory.
Tell yourself this discomfort is actually good for
me and that will be like the no
pain, no gain mantra. That will be your
liberation in the moment. Why am I doing
this? What's the point of all of this?
Why am I holding on? Why am I
staying away from Haram? Why am I fasting?
Why am I working hard? Why am I
enduring this pain? Yes, you try to stop
the pain and you never seek it in
this world. May Allah protect us and our
loved ones, and our brothers and sisters in
every land and place. It is the path
to victory. It is a form of sabr.
The second principle,
I'll start with a story.
One time, my brother sent me a video
of a resort
and he said, this is one of the
most beautiful
places I've ever seen. It's in a tropical
country.
He said, we gotta go give dua over
there. I said, you wanna go give dua
over there? You wanna sip halal peanut coladas
and drink coconuts on the beach? It's like
why can't we do both? Yes, we can
do both InshaAllah Ta'ala. We haven't been yet.
But under the video there was a caption
and the caption captured my attention.
And it said, in Arabic, if this is
what the creation prepared for the creation,
then what about what the Creator prepared for
the creation?
You can't imagine.
We talk about all these videos and all
these imaginations and AI generated things and all
these movies and TV shows with things that
they claim are pushing the boundaries of what
you can imagine, but Allah tells
you. So you'll never wonder,
that I have prepared makes it personal for
you.
For my righteous servants,
what no eye has ever seen. You've never
seen anything like Jannah. What no ear has
ever heard, the sounds of jannah. And most
importantly, what you have never imagined. What has
never been conceived of by any human being
in this world. So what's my second advice,
the second principle?
The first, embrace positive discomfort because you know
it's worth it. The second,
remember that the view from paradise,
you sitting back relaxing in Jannah, is worth
every discomfort of a dunya. Don't forget that.
And why do we know this is so
important? Because Jannah,
is it mentioned only one time in the
Quran? Yes or no? No. It's mentioned 100
of times. Why? It's mentioned from the first
juz to the last. Why?
Because we, psychologically,
are always going to be in need of
the reminder
of victory
and success
after the fact. What's waiting for you ahead?
What is the reward that makes this all
worth it? It's not a 100 years in
Jannah in a place you cannot imagine. It
is forever. Victory and
and
support and success
is to know that the believers will enter
jannah while those who are evil and wicked
and they oppose the truth and they fight
the truth, they won't enter jannah. Victory is
to know that you will have the last
laugh, eternally speaking.
Victory is to know that those who kill
innocent people and they laugh as they walk
on the graves of our children.
They will be punished according to Allah's wisdom
and His justice, not according to our interpretations.
Victory is to know, oh college students,
that you are dedicating
all of your studies for the sake of
Allah to benefit the umma. That you are
not individualistic.
Victory is to know that if you think
of marriage, may Allah grant all the bachelor's
righteous spouses and make them righteous, say, Amin.
That was probably the loudest Amin I heard,
Victory is to know that your marriage is
not because you want companionship in a romantic
senseless matter, but because this is for Allah.
This is for the ummah that you wanna
raise children and your intention with those children
is not because you want a small version
of you running around, rather you want this
child to be amongst the children of the
world who revive.
This is a type of victory. These are
our aspirations.
So the believers in this world, they're defined
in the Quran in so many ways. But
their view of Jannah is also connected to
what they did.
All of the gates of Jannah
are linked to actions of this world. It's
not a thought. It's not just speech. It's
not you talking the talk. It's you walking
the walk. It's the reality of what you're
doing today by attending this conference. It's the
reality of what you do throughout the year
with your weekly programs. It's the reality of
how you interact with your parents, your spouse,
your children, your neighbors, Muslims and non Muslims.
It's the way you live upon Islam. May
Allah grant us consistency.
The believers are those who fear Allah. They
have khushia
of Allah's boundaries without seeing Him.
The believers are those who come to Allah
They come to him with sincere hearts. May
Allah grant us sincerity.
The believers are those who hold on, knowing
they're the true winners.
I have rewarded them for their perseverance,
their discomfort, their holding on, their
sabr. They are the true victors. They are
the true winners. The angels say, when your
soul leaves your body and you hold on
to Islam, Allah taqafuwala
tahazanu. Brothers and sisters, I want you to
imagine this. The view from paradise
right before you enter.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is saying to you
and to the ummah around you who enter
with their hearts as 1,
How will you feel if you hear these
words?
How will you feel being told,
enter Jannah?
And you're entering
forever.
You never have to worry about pain again.
You never have to worry about trials again.
You never have to worry about the oppression
of this world again, the exhaustion of a
dunya again.
Enter the world forever.
O children of Palestine, the bombs are no
more. O people of Iman,
the trials are no more. Oh, people of
Islam and the ummah of Islam, the work
that you did was worth it. The bigotry
is no more. Oh, patient mothers and fathers
who struggled with their children in this world,
your test is over. Oh, sons and daughters
and brothers and sisters, new Muslims and their
descendants and every one of us, if not
a new Muslim is a descendant of a
convert, enter Islam in peace. This is the
day of forever.
And when they enter Jannah, what do they
say? Alhamdulillah.
Because that summarizes everything. Alhamdulillah.
Praise be to the one who fulfilled his
promise to us. Remember the promises of Allah
when it comes to the afterlife.
For now, it's a promise, but soon it's
reality. For now, it's a promise, but soon
it's reality.
And the third and final principle in these
last two minutes,
please remember this. In this day and age,
when many people are lonely, despite having family
and friends, despite having followers and community,
when people are feeling more alone and also
individualistic than ever before. In your pursuit of
Jannah and the pleasure of Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala, do not neglect your loved ones. Do
not neglect your parents, your spouse, your children,
your neighbors, your relatives.
Do not neglect the people who are closest
to you, who have the greatest right upon
you. How do we know this is important?
In Jannah, the view is like this,
Where Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala mentions, and this
is a story that I'll share with you
and I'll finish with this story, that the
people of Jannah will talk about adunya.
What will they talk about? Can you imagine
being in Jannah? And you have all the
time in the world, literally, forever to do
whatever you want, and you text your friends
and say, let's hang out, and your friend
says, I'm too busy bro. What are you
talking about? You're in Jannah. Imagine this.
The people of Jannah will turn to each
other conversing.
This next passage in Suratul Tur is a
story that is so powerful,
that the nephew of Aisha radhiallahu anha came
to her to say salaam, she was reading
these verses, crying and making dua.
She was doing this over and over and
over, so he left to the marketplace, said,
I'll come back. He came back, he said
she was still reading these ayat and making
dua through these verses.
What's the story here? That's so powerful that
our mother Aisha
was repeating over and over.
The verses continue. The people of Jannah are
thinking about these moments of a dunya,
and they say,
They say, we used to be with our
families, our people. We used to be in
awe of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Right after this, very quickly,
Allah
graced us, protected us from the punishment of
the fire and the final ayah is what?
And this is where she repeated in Miduah.
We used to make dua before. We used
to make dua in this world, and Allah
is albaru ar Rahim.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is the most kind,
the most merciful.
What is the greatest part of Jannah? The
greatest reward of paradise in 2 words. Say
it out loud. What is the greatest reward
of Jannah?
Seeing Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, meeting Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala. Imagine the moment you meet Allah,
will you ever think all the hard work
and discomfort was not worth it? Or will
it erase everything else? It's so great. The
prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said, it's the
greatest thing the people of Jannah will experience.
Forget all the palaces and mansions and the
view of the tangible parts of Jannah. Meeting
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Liladeena ahsanulhusna
was a yada, do good for Allah will
reward you with something beyond your imagination.
The believers will be reunited with their loved
ones. The children and their descendants
The Sahaba were so happy. This verse is
in fact in the same passage in Surah
Al Thudur that the loved ones, your descendants
who follow you in iman,
you will be reunited in paradise.
So what's the conclusion of the third rule
and principle? One of the greatest forms of
victory
is to invest a lot of time,
a lot of effort, a lot of sincerity
with the people who are closest to you.
In an era where everyone and many people
are able to go out and seek things
outside of the family,
Put your time and your effort into your
family, and it will be one of the
greatest reunions
in the afterlife. Perhaps this is a gathering
we have today that we might remember and
reference in the afterlife. May Allah grant us
sincerity and success and protect our children all
around the world. May Allah grant us the
true nature of victory, the small victories and
the larger victories of a dunya and the
ultimate victory of the afterlife and meeting Allah.
And may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala forgive us
for shortcomings once again, the three pieces of
advice. Number 1,
reframe positive discomfort
as victory. Number 2, remember the view from
paradise
is worth it. And number 3, do not
neglect
your loved ones, your relatives, and your community.
May Allah accept from all of you and
reward you.
