Suhaib Webb – Q&A Some Sunnahs of Childbirth

May Allah bless you in all expecting mothers

and mothers who recently gave birth, my wife

included.

That's a wonderful experience.

What are some things that you need to

do? The first is the hadith of Abu

Rafi. It says, when

when she gave birth to Hasan the Prophet

and made Adhan in his right ear. The

narration says, in his left ear. And that

should be done not immediately but when you

can do it, when you can do it.

The second is the hadith of Abu Musa

al Ashari who says when he was blessed

with a son, he came to the prophet

of his son and the prophet Samahu

Ibrahim named him Ibrahim

What does that mean? The Prophet took some

dates and rubbed it on his gums, the

gums of the child. Not a lot, just

a little bit.

The third thing, and these things ideally need

to happen on the 7th day, although it's

not far that

they haven't happened on the 7th day. And

there are 3 things you wanna think about

that if possible should happen on the 7th

day. As for the 7th day from the

hadith of Samra, we said that the prophet

said

that every child is, like, held accountable,

for his or her

on the 7th day, something should be slaughtered

for him,

and his hair or hair should be cut

if possible.

And then finally, Usama, given a name. Now

the issue of the name can happen anytime

because other narrations, the one I just mentioned,

Cabernusah,

the day his child was born, the prophetess

named him. There's other narrations that show there's

some dispensation

in this.

So, you know, anywhere between the 1st and

7th day, the name is fine. But these

others, it's encouraged that they happen on the

7th day.

As for the Anapika, we attempted haditha slaughtering

birth of her son, you should cut his

hair and then pay in charity the weight

of his hair

silver.

Now, some parents are concerned about the health

issues that may come of that, so you

should talk to your child's physician.

And if you can't cut all of their

hair off, you can take a piece of

the hair and do the same. It will

be sufficient to sharpen them. And finally from

fitra is circumcision. We know that for boys,

this is recommended must have,

and for girls, it's Magrul.

Since the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, he didn't

do it for Sayda Fatima,

but

he did it for the boys

around him.
