Shakiel Humayun – Spiritual Pleasure Friday Sermon
AI: Summary ©
The impact of the Quran on people's lives, specifically their hearts, is discussed. The message is to avoid anyone listening to the holy holy holy message of polytheism and to focus on the words of Allah. The lack of energy and fasting are noted as reasons for the lack of sleep and discomfort during the middle of the month. The motivation for taking time to train the spiritual muscles is when the best nights come and the last 10 nights are when the most difficult nights come. The motivation is when the best nights come and the last 10 nights are when the most difficult nights come.

Came to meet the prophet Muhammad Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam
in Madina.
And when he arrived,
he heard the prophet Muhammad salallahu alaihi wasallam
reciting Quran
in the Maghrib prayer.
The prophet
was reciting from Surah Atur
where he said,
earth? But they have no certainty.
Or are they the creators? Allah subhanahu posed
these questions.
After hearing these verses being recited
live from the mouth of the prophet Muhammad
He
said,
He said, my heart was about to fly.
The impact
of the book of Allah
on the heart of this individual
was so much that it moved him.
In the time of the prophet Muhammad Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam,
the
would say to others,
let Quran.
They would say, do not listen to this
Quran.
This was the message
from the leaders of
They wanted to keep intact
their message of polytheism
and to avoid anyone listening the message
of monotheism.
The prophet Muhammad
as we know,
used to pray at night.
And so the prophet
would pray at night,
and the leaders of Quraish
would know about this.
Abu Jahal,
Abu Sufian,
one night
crept
and secretly came
behind the wall of the prophet Muhammad
when he was reciting the Quran.
They could not hold themselves back
from listening to the book of Allah even
though they told people, let
Quran.
Don't listen to this Quran.
And as the prophet
would recite during the
night and as
the dawn would come close
and there will be some break of light,
Abu Sufyan and Abu Jahal who were listening
to the Quran that night did not know
that the other one
was present. There were no
street lights.
It was pitch dark.
And as there was a break of light,
Abu Jahl saw Abu Sufyan
and they both were shocked.
They both
were caught red handed
from listening to the book of Allah.
They looked at each other
and said, we can't do this again.
And if we do it, what if other
people see us? What if our polytheist
followers see us? So they promised never
to come back.
The next night,
each one thought that the other one would
not come back.
The Quran
was so tempting,
was so pulling
and they had such a longing to listen
to the words of Allah.
They came back the next night to listen
to the best reciter
ever to come on this earth. The prophet
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam reciting the Quran.
Then again,
when
light broke, they saw each other
and they promised each other not to come
back and listen to the Quran.
Not thinking
that the other one would come back. The
3rd night, they came back again.
They could not hold themselves from the book
of Allah Subhan'a.
And this is because Allah Subhan'a said,
At the Quran
is a reminder for the one who has
a,
who has a heart.
Meaning
a heart that is alive.
Alive. A heart that is filled with iman.
A heart that is filled with is a
dead heart.
For Allah subhanahu
here said that this Quran is a reminder
for the heart that has iman.
How is it so? That Abu Jahl
who was whose heart was filled with and
at
that time
also had in his heart. How could it
be that they were pulled by the Quran?
It's the impact
of the words of Allah subhanahu.
And so if this is the case with
people
who have dead
hearts, hearts filled with polytheism,
then what about our hearts
which are filled with iman?
What kind of impact
should it have on our hearts?
But Allah subhanahu continued in the ayah.
The second part
here
is for everyone
that this Quran is a reminder for the
one
who has a heart,
a living heart,
or for the person
who lends
an attentive ear,
for a person who focuses,
for
who listens carefully,
and this could be for anyone.
And this applied to Abu Jahl and Abu
Sufyan.
So imagine, my dear brothers and sisters,
if we have an a heart filled with
iman,
and then we focus in our
prayers and listen to the words of
Allah. It's not just about the reciters
tone.
It's about what these words
are saying.
And if you pay close attention to these
words
with a living heart,
imagine the impact it will have in our
lives.
Imagine what it will do for us in
the hereafter.
The prophet
salallahu alaihi wa sallam
would stand
and this is outside of Ramadan.
Stand during the night
in salaam Qiyamulay.
Such that,
Aisha
radhiallahu
would describe the prayer of the Prophet
The Prophet
would stand
in salah
until his feet
would crack.
Then said to the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam,
why are you standing so much in salah
when Allah has forgiven your past
and future sins?
The prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam then responded
and said,
Shall I not then be a grateful
and thankful slave?
What was it that made the Prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam stand in salah even though his
feet would crack and be swollen?
Amazing.
Amazing.
2 companions of the prophet
agreed
and said, we will alternate
during the night.
1 of us will be awake while the
other will sleep.
So the companion
who was awake
said, well, while I'm awake,
I might as well make.
I might as well pray at night.
So he stood to pray 2 raka,
and while he was praying,
he was attacked with arrows.
And an arrow hit him on the chest
and he started to bleed profusely.
He continued his prayer until he finished the
prayer, then he shook his companion
to wake him up and let him know
that we were now under attack.
The companion then said to him, while waking
up,
seeing that he's bleeding profusely
and that he has an arrow stuck
in his chest,
he said to him, why did you not
wake me up earlier? Why didn't you break
your salah and wake me up? You have
the excuses.
This Sahabi Al Jaleel
said,
I did not want to discontinue my conversation
with Allah subhanah.
What was it? What was it
that made this companion
continue the salah
despite
an arrow
in his chest,
blood
pouring out of his chest,
and he made it to the end of
the salah.
What was it that made the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam continue
standing in salah
despite the pain that we have?
We're in the middle of Ramadan.
This is the time
when the fasting
catches up to us.
Sleep deprivation,
lack of nutrition,
unless we're doing
those amazing iftars
and defeat the purpose of fasting.
But the lack of energy,
this is the middle of the month where
we feel it.
And erase and erase a person when he
sees that he's halfway through,
he looks at the finish line,
and he gives it all he
got to make it to the finish line.
So we feel some of the pain in
the ankles.
We feel some pain
in our heels for standing in.
But what was it? What can we learn
from them
where our little discomfort and struggle
is in no comparison
to what they felt of pain and continued?
And the answer is
that the pain
that they felt
while worshiping Allah
was superseded
by the spiritual pleasure
they enjoyed.
The pain in their feet,
the pain in the chest with the blood
gushing out
was superseded
by the pleasure
of standing before Allah subhanahu.
It was superseded by the pleasure
of being in conversation with Allah Subhanahu.
And those who have believed are more intense
in their love
for Allah
Their love for Allah
was greater
than what the message
their pain receptors were telling them.
Their experience
and their sweetness of iman, the taste that
they
had was greater
than any pain
that they were feeling.
So my dear brothers and sisters,
if one of
if anyone went to any one of these
companions
and said,
we would give you $10,000,000,000
to give up this pleasure,
this halawah,
this sweetness of iman.
Not a single one of them would do
it even if it was multiplied by 10.
Witnessing another Ramadan in our lives
means that this is a huge
gift from Allah subhanahu.
We can listen to the thoughts and feel
sorry for ourselves.
That we're tired.
We have work to do.
We have kids to take care of,
and let Shaitan
make these days
go by fast. And before we know it,
it's Eid.
To maximize
and optimize
these nights.
The fact that we have one more Ramadan.
I would like to share with you
a narration.
There were 2 men who came to the
prophet Muhammad and
they became Muslim at the same time.
One of them
died as a shahid, as a martyr.
The other one lived one more year
and
died
later.
Who saw in a dream
that he was at the gates of paradise
and these two companions who had died were
there as well.
Someone
came from the gates of paradise
and called on the person who died 1
year later
to enter into Jannah
first.
Before
the shahid.
Talha was shocked.
He went
to the prophet Muhammad
salallahu
alaihi wa sallam.
And said, I saw this dream with these
2 known companions
who became Muslim at the same time. 1
just live 1 more year longer,
and they both died.
And I saw the other one enter into
paradise first.
How is that so? How could that be
possible? Enter before the Shahid.
The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
then responded
and said,
Ramadan.
The prophet
then said,
didn't that person, that person who died 1
year later,
didn't that person
fast
one more Ramadan
and prayed
6,000 or such and such 1,000 of sunnah
salah
which he captured within that 1 year.
That one more Ramadan in his life, my
dear brothers and sisters,
allowed him to enter into paradise first.
We have seen a lot of death
in the past 2 years.
All of us know
some friends,
some family members,
some relatives
who have
died. Just 2 days ago, my cousin died.
No illness,
while fasting,
heart attack, and died.
The fact that we are alive in this
month of Ramadan.
The fact that we have one more Ramadan
in our lives
is huge.
And the prophet Muhammad salallahu alaihi wa sallam
understood this
and that's why he said,
Shall I not then be a grateful,
a thankful
slave?
So being grateful
and thankful
that we have one more
Ramadan in our lives because
honestly,
no one can guarantee
and tell us for sure,
forget about next Ramadan.
No one can guarantee that we will make
it till the Eid.
So Shaitan comes to us, don't worry.
The last 10 nights,
you will
exert your effort.
You will catch the last 10.
And when the 10 nights come, then Shaitan
comes to us
again. Don't worry. Just catch the odd nights.
When the odd nights come, Shaitan comes again.
Don't worry. Just catch the 27th.
And when the 20 7th night comes,
we can't focus in salah.
Like our muscles,
they need training.
They need to be broken and then rebuilt
to get better.
So does our spiritual muscle.
The 27th
night can't come magically, and we have full
Khashur,
full humility,
amazing attention,
amazing calmness in salah, all of a sudden.
It takes training,
It takes time,
and it's the mercy of Allah
that the 27th night or the amazing nights
in the month of Ramadan come toward the
end.
Because it gives us the opportunity in the
beginning
to practice,
to be steadfast,
to train those spiritual muscles.
So when the best nights come
and the last 10 nights, we are ready
to receive them.
So don't fall,
pray
to Shaitan's traps of making us lazy.
Look at the companions of the prophet Muhammad
One night, the prophet Muhammad
prayed
with the companions.
They started after
prayer
and they prayed
until
half of the night.
These days,
the nights are what?
11 hours?
10 hours?
Imagine the prophet Muhammad and
the companions
praying
5, 6
hours straight.
And when the prophet
finished,
one of the companions stood and
said,
Allahu Akbar.
The
companions said to the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam, he requested.
He said, O Messenger of Allah,
if you will,
please continue
for the rest of the night.
Amazing.
What is our
prayer?
1 hour,
2 hours max,
maybe 3.
And I'm not saying this to put ourselves
down. That's not the intent.
What I'm say why I'm saying this is
so we can
be motivated
and compare
because we know what 1 hour feels.
Imagine
what the companions
performed
for 5 hours.
So this motivation
is when you see the companions did 5
hours,
hours, and they were willing to do another
5 hours.
And when you're standing in Taraweeh
for 20 minutes
after 4 raka'ah,
and the shayateen come,
let's
go
home. We gotta watch that TV series that
comes in Ramadan.
Let's go. You're tired.
Let's let's run.
This is the motivation we think of.
The
did not want to run.
They wanted more.
And then the prophet said,
The prophet
said, surely that person
who stands with the imam
until
the imam completes the prayers.
Does it matter if he's praying 11 raka,
20 raka,
40 raka.
If he starts with the imam
and he continues until the imam finish it,
it is written for him
that he prayed all
night long.
So if you we were to stay
a little longer, if we're applying to leave
after 4 raka,
another 20 minutes,
another 25 minutes,
your ROI,
your return on your investment is massive.
It's written for you that you prayed all
night long.
And these nights
are not just any night.
These nights
are the best nights
of the year.
And these nights
are not just the best nights of the
year.
These nights
are amazing nights with the prophet
said.
That the one that Allah
every night in Ramadan,
Allah
freeze
people from the * fire.
Now imagine if Allah is looking at us
and you pray the full taraweeh from the
beginning to the end
and it's written for the him or her.
She has prayed the whole night
versus
us binge watching Netflix.
These nights, when Allah is freeing people from
the * fire,
we want to present ourselves
as a candidate.
That You Rabb, pick me. Here is my
acts
of worship.
The time that I am spending
to get closer to you.
So my dear brothers and
sisters,
in these remaining nights of Ramadan,
let us give it
all that we have
because we will never know if we'll see
another month of Ramadan.
And to help
that,
do it in groups.
Go to Taraweeh together.
Help and assist one another in righteousness and
If you try to do it alone,
you will be like the lone sheep where
Shaitan will capture.
Go in groups, encourage one another to stay
longer.
It's only a matter
of a few nights
and a few days
that's left.
I ask Allah Subhanahu
to free
us from the * fire tonight.
I ask Allah
to accept our fasting
and our
standing in prayers.
I ask Allah
to enable us to imitate
the prophet Muhammad salallahu alaihi wa sallam and
the companions.
I ask Allah Subhanah to draw us closer
to him.
