Omar Suleiman – Why Did Allah Mention The Number 19 – Your Test Of Faith
AI: Summary ©
The history of Islam is discussed, including the deaths of various leaders and the use of God in political calculations. The use of 19 angels and the god's image to cover false accusations is also discussed, as well as the use of a book to test people and hold people in a secure situation. The message of Islam is to hold the people of hellfire in a secure situation and to hold them the 19 angels that guarding hellfire. The return of Islam as a religion is also discussed, with some people claiming to believe in a culture that is "fitna to win."

My dear brothers and sisters, once again jazakumullahu
khairah.
I apologize for any inconvenience I caused to
you by forcing you to come out on
another night than you originally intended.
And I ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
to accept all of your good deeds, all
of your du'as, all of your well
wishes for the people of Gaza and beyond.
Allahumma ameen.
How many people were included amongst Ashab al
-Kahf, the sleepers of the cave?
Can anybody tell me how many sleepers were
there in the cave?
I heard some numbers, 7, 3.
All of you are potentially right.
Because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, يقولون
ثلاثة رابعهم كلبهم ويقولون خمسة ساديسهم كلبهم رجمًا
بالغيب.
Until the end of the ayah, that they
will say that they were 3 and that
the 4th was their dog.
They will say that they were 5 and
that the 6th was their dog.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala knows their true
number.
Why am I starting off with this?
I want you for a moment to imagine
that you were one of the first people
to convert to Islam.
That you were one of the muhajireen in
Mecca, one of the early Muslims in Mecca.
How difficult it was for you to already
be going against the grain by believing in
Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
All of the mockery, the lack of an
outside validating power, the lack of an inside
validating power structure, the lack of family support,
the lack of financial means, the lack of
a masjid where you can come together and
nourish your faith.
You only have daar al-arqam, a secret
home of gathering, where you can come together
under the tight scope of the people of
Mecca, hoping that you won't get caught keeping
your voices down and trying to stay out
of sight.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala reveals an
ayah which is extremely interesting.
The ayah is, عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرٌ Allah says
that the gatekeepers of * are 19.
Why would Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala withhold
from us the number of Ashab ul Kahf?
But Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gives such
a precise number of the gatekeepers of hellfire.
What this does is it leads to a
mockery amongst the people of Mecca.
You see Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala was
teaching the people of Mecca as He would
teach the people of Medina that God does
not play on the terms of man.
That Allah does not respond to the demands
and the conditions of man.
That Allah sets the terms, not you.
And so when you make demands of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala, you say to the
Prophet shalallahu alaihi wa sallam, tell me this
and tell me that.
Even the Prophet shalallahu alaihi wa sallam has
to say, insha'Allah, to get the answers
that are demanded of him in Medina.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala still makes
it a fitna to say that some things
are irrelevant to you and you have to
believe without delving into those details.
And so just as Allah withheld a specific
number in Medina, Allah gave a very specific
number in Mecca.
I want you to follow along with me
bi'idhnillahi ta'ala and put yourself in
that situation.
When Allah says, عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرٍ That there
are 19 gatekeepers of *.
Abu Jahl makes a mockery of this.
He says, if it's 19, we can take
them.
If we're put in hellfire and it's only
19, we play the numbers game and playing
the numbers game in Badr didn't work too
well for Abu Jahl, did it?
Because he played the numbers game in Badr
and thought Badr would be a walk in
the park.
We're a thousand, they're 313, we've got this.
So he said, if they're 19, then that's
fine.
We can overpower them.
We can break out of hellfire if there
is a hellfire.
And then we can occupy our places in
Jannah.
Ha!
Ha!
Ha!
That's the mood.
The arrogance of a pharaoh.
And subhanAllah, there's a reason why he's فِرْعُونَ
هَذِي الْأُمَّةِ The pharaoh of this ummah.
He had a mindset like the pharaoh.
He had a way of thinking like Firaun.
You know, Firaun said, if there's a god
in the heavens, go ahead and build me
a tall structure, let me go meet him.
This is the way that a proud and
arrogant being speaks about the divine.
Oh, fine, 19, we've got it.
There's another man in the dustbin of history,
Qadr ibn Uwais ibn Khalaf.
Big huge man.
He said, I've got an idea for you
all.
I'll take 17, you guys handle two of
the angels.
Why would Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala give
the room for them to make this type
of a mockery of Islam?
Pause for a moment.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam could have
gone on the journey of Al-Isra' ul
-Mi'raj, which many will be speaking about
in the month to come.
In fact, it's my next lecture in the
series I'm doing on Al-Aqsa.
And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam could
have kept the journey to himself because he
knows that the people of Mecca will make
a mockery of it.
Oh, you went to Jerusalem last night to
the heavens and came back all in one
night?
Hold on one second.
Abu Bakr.
You hear what he's saying?
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, had he
been the fabricator they accused him of being,
he could have withheld Surah Rum.
Because to make that type of a political
calculation that the Romans will defeat the Persians
في بضع سنين between 3 and 9 years
is dangerous.
You're staking the integrity of your mission all
in a political calculation that may or may
not prove to be true.
And someone who had a disease in their
hearts and weak belief would have said, Ya
Rasulullah, you know, let's hold that one tighter
to your chest.
Don't put us in an awkward situation by
revealing this to the people.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ
عَشَرٌ Hellfire has 19 angels that are guarding
it.
And you know what's incredible?
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions, وَمَا جَعَلْنَا
عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا By the way,
we purposefully revealed the number 19 as a
fitna, as a test and a trial for
the disbelievers.
Let them mock.
Let them say, ha ha ha, 19 angels
guarding Hellfire.
And subhanAllah, imagine how stupid they will feel
when they are in Hellfire staring at those
angels.
And those angels are throwing them back in
and tossing them into the punishment that they
want denied.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala protect us
from being with them.
Allahumma ameen.
We made it, وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً
لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا It was a fitna for them.
It was meant to test them.
It was meant to try them.
But Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala also says,
with the same number that was given, لِيَسْتَيقِنَ
الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابِ So that the people of
the book will have yaqeen.
They will have certainty that this message is
from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Can anybody tell me what that means?
I can hear you inshaAllah ta'ala.
Raise your voice if anyone knows what that
means.
Surah al-Muddathir.
لِيَسْتَيقِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابِ So that the people
of the book can have certainty.
Does anybody know what that means?
Anybody?
Okay, I don't think they're talking about what
I'm asking.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala was revealing something
that was known to the people of the
book, the scholars of the people of the
book.
The rabbis of the Torah who were waiting
for a messenger to arise, camped out in
Yathrib.
They knew that this was previously revealed information
that would have been inaccessible to an illiterate
Arab in the middle of Makkah.
The Christian scholars who were truly upon the
way of Isa alayhi as-salam, who were
trying to be upon the monotheism of Jesus
peace be upon him, and waiting for Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala to send that messenger.
They knew that biblically speaking at some point
it was revealed to them the exact same
tidbit of information.
And so if you are a Waraka ibn
Naufal, or you are a Abdullah ibn Salam,
one of the scholars of the scripture, لِيَسْتَيقِنَ
الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابِ You will have more certainty
that he is indeed Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam, وَيَزْدَادَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِيمَانًا And those who
have faith will be increased in faith.
You see, subhanallah, the same piece of information
that is a fitna for the disbelievers, is
a reason for belief of the people of
the book, and a means by which the
belief of the believers actually increases.
Abu Bakr as-Siddiq radiyallahu ta'ala anhu,
when Allah revealed what others considered ridiculous, put
his money where his mouth was.
Yeah, the Romans will defeat the Persians.
I bet my entire fortune on it, the
Romans will defeat the Persians.
Because whatever that man says sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam is true.
Because he never speaks from his own, he
speaks based on divine revelation, and I'm not
embarrassed.
I'm not worried about what you're going to
say.
I'm not worried about your laughter.
In fact, I do ihtisab, I seek the
reward for your laughter with Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala, and I feel even more comfort
in my heart.
I say it with my chest out, what
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says is
true.
What Allah has revealed is true.
And I have no doubt about it whatsoever.
And so when they go to Abu Bakr
radiyallahu ta'ala anhu, after the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam mentions the journey of Al
-Isra and Al-Mi'raj, say, Abu Bakr,
heard what he said?
He said, that he went to Jerusalem, and
the heavens, and came back to Mecca, all
in one night.
Abu Bakr radiyallahu anhu doesn't stutter.
He doesn't go, man, I wish they never
found that hadith.
I wish the Islamophobes never heard it.
He didn't say, wait, wait, wait, hold on,
that's ridiculous, let me go check and see
what he really said.
He says with a full chest, اذ كان
قالها فقد صدق.
If he says it, he's telling the truth.
I believe him when he says that the
Lord of the heavens and the earth directly
communicates to him in revelation, and that is
a far greater feat, than going from Mecca
to Jerusalem and coming back in one night.
So if he said it, he's telling the
truth.
And I'm not embarrassed about it.
And I have no doubt in it whatsoever.
The same piece of information that made the
Muslims a laughing stock, increased the believers in
their belief, and peaked the curiosity of those
that were sincere seekers of truth.
Dear brothers and sisters, we take a step
back.
And I want to talk to the present
that we are in right now.
Don't you ever let anyone shame you with
your religion.
Don't you ever let anyone make you feel
ridiculous for believing in what Allah has said,
or what the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has
said.
Don't you ever let them cause you shak,
cause you doubt in your heart, and say,
really?
So you believe in Dajjal.
Oh, and you believe, Jesus, Isa A.S.
is gonna descend at that minaret.
And you believe in Ya'juj and Ma
'juj.
And you believe in, Oh, you believe that
the earth is gonna do this and do
that.
And you believe in this fairy tale of
paradise.
Ha, ha, ha.
اليوم الذين آمنوا من الكفار يضحكون على الأرائك
ينظرون.
One day you will sit on thrones, and
you will laugh at them.
Don't you ever let them say, aren't you
embarrassed that this is a part of the
Qur'an and the Sunnah?
Instead say, that if I have embarrassment, then
it is either due to my lack of
understanding it, or my lack of faith.
Not a flaw in the religion.
The messenger
believes in everything that was revealed to him.
As do the believers.
كُلٌ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ All of
them believe in Allah, they believe in the
angels, they believe in the messengers, they believe
in the books.
They have no doubt whatsoever.
Because if he said it, sallallahu alayhi wasallam,
I believe it.
Someone might say, well, isn't that blind faith?
It's not blind faith.
It is acknowledging that every single human being
is necessarily blind to the full reality of
existence.
And that we have faith in the one
who is Al-Basir, the one who is
all-seeing.
And we have relegated our trust to him.
And we have no doubt in anything that
he revealed to us.
Because whether some science comes later on to
prove it.
You know, subhanAllah, there was an article about
ants, and how ants speak to each other.
And I remember a teenager coming to me
with the article and saying, see, Allah told
the truth.
When Allah is talking about the ants communicating
to each other, in the time of Sulaiman
a.s., isn't this amazing?
I didn't need the article.
Someone points out an article that the human
being is conscious after they're buried.
That consciousness, that sciences have discovered that consciousness
is there for at least seven days.
I didn't need that.
But I have the hadith of Al-Bara
'a radiAllahu ta'ala anhu about what happens
in the grave.
Now when Allah azza wa jalla shows us
signs, certainly, liyatma'inna qalbi, the heart is
put even further at ease, liyazdadu imanan ma
'i imanihim, faith is increased upon faith.
But I don't need that to know.
Because the all-knowing already told us.
Al-'alim already has told us.
Al-khabir already has given us the khabar,
has given us the news.
I'm okay.
I don't need any more than that.
Why do I bring this to our time?
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, radiAllahu anhum
wa radu'an.
The believers, Allah is pleased with them, and
they are pleased with Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
Ar-rida, being pleased with Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala.
He says, radi'tu billahi rabba wa bil-islami
dina wa bi-muhammadin sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
an-nabiya.
I'm pleased with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
as my lord.
I'm pleased with Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
as my messenger.
I'm pleased with Islam as my religion.
That ar-rida is fil-qadha wa shar
'a.
I'm pleased with his decree.
I'm pleased with his legislation.
I'm at full ease and peace with his
revelation.
At full ease and at peace with his
decree.
And when you laugh at it, you don't
make me feel bad.
You actually only increase me.
Let me bring that to our global political
scenario.
Every time, I'm going to be very open
here.
Every time I post the news about another
shaheed in Gaza, you get the Islamophobes, the
Zionists, they come and they mock.
And they say, Oh, well I bet he's
met his hur now.
Ha, ha, ha.
Oh, he's got his trees now.
He's no longer in Gaza.
You fools believe he's in a paradise.
And I wonder what God is saying to
him now.
Ha, ha, ha.
And I say, alhamdulillah, you'll eat your words
one day.
While these people enjoy what you mock, while
these people realize what you deny, you will
one day eat your words and you don't
shake our faith whatsoever.
When the people of Palestine stand up, and
the people of Gaza stand up, and they
say, one day we will be free.
While standing in the rubble, hearing the drones
above them, starving in their stomachs, missing limbs,
and they still say, Sayabqa Falestin.
Sataood Gaza.
It's unbelievable.
If they have that imam, if they have
that yaqeen, who are we?
Sit back here in our political calculations, and
say it's not looking good.
It's not looking good to you.
It's not looking good to me.
But everything is on plan with Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
They know it, because they're people of yaqeen.
The question is whether we know it or
not.
There's a nasheed that they sing.
And it was a nasheed that came out
of the Egyptian revolution.
Sawfa nabqa hoona, kay yazool al alam.
That we will stay here until the pain
goes away.
Sawfa nahya hoona.
We will live here.
Sawfa yahloon nagham.
The rhythm will one day change.
They don't have any doubt.
Someone looks at the Muslim world and says
what's gonna come out of that pile of
garbage?
Look at you people, you're pathetic.
Let the colonialists laugh.
Let the empires laugh.
For like the empires and the tyrants that
came before them, they will one day be
buried under the rubble.
And everything that they put forth as a
so-called achievement, will be an artifact of
testimony against them for the evil that they
wreaked on this earth before Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala brings it out on the day
of judgment, yawmatu bilas sarair.
The day that all secrets will be revealed.
Let them laugh.
Let them mock us.
Let them say you have no hope.
Let them tap out on Islam and the
Muslim world.
Let them say that religion is a thing
of the past.
Let them say that you believe in fairy
tales and an unseen God.
Because you know who that was said to
before?
Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam.
They mocked him.
They laughed in his face.
They thought that they were crazy.
They put them down.
They tried to break their spirits.
They tried to twist their emotions.
And it didn't work.
To the point that when the messenger of
Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam stands with Abu Bakr
and Umar in the mountains of Uhud and
they're covered in blood.
Umar radiallahu anhu has the audacity to say
qad abqa allahu ma yukhzik ya aduwwallah O
enemy of Allah, Allah has caused to remain
that which is a cause of your humiliation.
We're not going anywhere.
We're okay.
Alhamdulillah.
Nahnu bikhayr.
The promise of Allah is just as true
now as it was two years ago.
Things look just as promising now as they
looked then.
Even if I can't see it, I know
that He can.
And I'm pleased.
Inna wa'ada Allahi haqq.
walakinna akthara nasi la ya'lamun.
The promise of Allah is true, but most
people just don't know because they're so relegated
ila zahiran min alhayati al-dunya to the
surface level of things.
They don't understand the secrets of creation because
they don't know the power of their Creator.
And so they're spiritually dead.
They're emotionally dead.
And they're relegated to the physical.
And the physical will one day collapse on
them.
And if the people of Gaza are physically
under the rubble then those that have wreaked
this tyranny on them are spiritually in ruins
and under the rubble.
And Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala will certainly
shame them and show them for who they
are.
But dear brothers and sisters it's times of
fitna.
And in a time of fitna there's gonna
be poking and say, you still believe?
You still believe in this religion?
You still believe in a path to victory?
You still believe that Islam will grow and
thrive?
You still believe in all of this?
You're still insisting on your backward ways?
You're still wearing hijab?
You're still praying out in public?
You're still doing all these things?
What's wrong with you?
They will make you think something is wrong
with you.
And that will emanate only from the emptiness
that is within themselves.
Don't adopt their emptiness.
Insist on your fullness.
قُلْ آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ As the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam said.
When Shaytan causes you doubt say, I believe
in Allah.
Repeat it with your heart full.
Repeat it with a chest full.
You come across a ayah or a hadith
you don't understand?
اَتَّهِمْ نَفْسَكْ Accuse yourself and say, I don't
get it yet, but I know it's true.
I'll get there.
قُلْ آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ I believe in Allah Subh
'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la.
I'm pleased with Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta
-A'la.
And one day, dear brothers and sisters, we
will celebrate if not in this life, then
in the next.
And here's the thing, because the hereafter is
just as real to us as here, because
the life after death is just as real
to us as the life before death, then
we are not relegated to having to see
the fullness of Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta
-A'la's plan come to fruition before death
and here, because we believe that here and
now is such a small part of our
existence.
فالحمد لله The true test of your iman,
the true test of your yaqeen, the true
test of your faith is not when you
can see Allah's wisdom playing out.
It's when you believe in Allah's wisdom even
when you can't comprehend a single part of
it in regards to something specific that's happening
and you say, Alhamdulillah, Allah has shown me
enough to believe in that which He has
not shown me.
I've seen Allah's wisdom play out in enough
things in my life to have yaqeen that
He is Al-Hakeem with the things that
I cannot understand at all.
Every moment, every leaf, every drop of rain,
every withheld moment, every withheld sustenance is part
of His Divine Plan and whatever Allah and
the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam have said is
true and whatever Allah and the Messenger Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam have said is better.
والآخرة خير وأبقى Do not let anyone mock
you with your religion.
Do not let anyone mock you with the
prophecies of your Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
Believe in them when others are starting to
lose faith in them.
And insist on them when others mock them.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala make us
a people of iman and yaqeen.
May Allah make us a people who believe
and who have thabat, who have firmness upon
that belief and who have a good ending,
who leave this world saying لا إله لله
as smoothly as we're saying it right now.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala allow it
to flow from our tongues, to take root
in our hearts.
And may Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala forgive
us for the times that we have doubt.
And may Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala remove
from us the whispers of the devil and
the lure and the temptation of our desires.
And may Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala not
let us face the humiliation.
The humiliation of our enemies.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala honor us
with seeing the humiliation of our enemies instead.
Allahuma Ameen.
BarakAllahu Fikum Wassalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
