So this will be very short. Once again,
we're just covering 1 or 2 ayahs
every single week from the,
the Surah, Surah Al Hujurat,
and just learning some things that we can
apply inshallah in our life.
Today, inshallah, we're going through ay number 45.
Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, he talks about the
uncivilized
Bedouins who used to come,
from other places to see Rasulullah salallahu alaihi
wa sallam.
And it is mentioned that when it came
to
the they had a great deal of respect
for Rasulullah
They knew how to show that adab to
the prophet
However, these Bedouins, they were not familiar
with the status of
Rasulullah So it is mentioned that one time
there was a group of them that came,
to Madinah,
and it was the afternoon time.
And it was that time of the day
where Rasulullah
he would take his midday nap, which is
fair you know, well known known as
It's a midday nap, a power nap, you
can understand it as. And he was taking
his power nap, and there was a Bedouin
man by the name of Al Aqra' ibn
Habis.
He came, and he began to, you know,
raise his voice out loud,
right outside the homes of Rasulullah
Now understanding that if you try to go
back and understand how Madina was, how Madinah
was structured and so forth, the prophet did
not have houses like we have today. So
there were small quarters.
In fact, if you go to Madinah today,
there's a museum there that gives you a
3 d replica of how the houses of
the prophet
were. And there were small small small small
rooms. And that's why the Quran says,
This man came, and he began to, you
know, scream out loud, You Muhammad. You Muhammad.
And at that time, Rasulullah
he's taking some rest inside,
And then he began to say things
such as,
something along those lines that whoever we
praise, they are praiseworthy.
And whoever we degrade,
then they are the ones who are degraded.
Rasulullah
alaihi wa sallam, he came out and he
says,
That honor
of degrading
and honoring anyone,
that that distinguished
honor and that and that responsibility
lies only with Allah
So the point is that this man, he
came outside,
and he began to yell out loud the
name of Muhammad
and not even You Rasulullah,
not even You Nabi You Allah, but You
Muhammad, and Nabi You
Muhammad.
And to which Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says,
Those people who call out the name
of Muhammad
outside his quarters.
From outside his quarters.
Most of them are not aware.
They don't understand things. And then Allah says,
Had they been patient
and waited
for Rasulullah
salallahu alaihi wasallam to come out to them?
This would have been better for them. And
then Allah says,
Allah
is the one who forgives. Now of course,
many things can be learned from this. Number
1 is, that if you see very closely
in the surah, in the beginning of this
or right before this,
we covered last week the verses,
Oh, you people who believe,
do not raise your voices above the voice
of Rasulullah
That was related to the incident of
incident
of And you see the stern warning,
and the harsh nature of Allah
when he's addressing
Whereas, when you see this bedouin man, who
is who doesn't understand the adab of the
prophet
he's coming out and he's, you know, creating
discomfort to the prophet
All that
Allah is saying is,
And Allah
is saying that he is forgiving and all
merciful.
You see how the nature When one group
of people, they do something that is wrong,
how Allah
addresses them. That if you do this, Allah
will wipe away your good deeds. On the
other hand, we see that this Bedouin man,
how Allah subhanahu wa'ala addressed him. And we
learn from this,
that based on different people, we treat different
people in different ways. In the sense that
if a person comes and they don't know
the rules,
then we have to be a little lenient
with them. We have to teach them, and
educate them. But if a person understands the
rules, they understand the standard,
then in that situation,
you have to hold them a little more
to a higher ground. Number 2 is we
learn from this is. That this is something
that we learn even from the
that when they whenever they wanted, Rasulullah
they would always wait outside the house of
the prophet
Because there are many ahadith. Many ahadith where
Sahaba wanted something, but they will never go
and bother
If he was busy with his family, they
will let him be with his family. If
he was taking his
they will not bother him at that time,
and they would say that we would wait
for the prophet
to come out to us. And based on
this,
many of the ulema, they have perhaps extracted
from this, the understanding
that even in this day and age, of
course there's no Rasoolah with within us. But
the same time, when we talk about, you
know, great scholars when it comes to the
great shayuk of the community, and so forth.
You know, subhanallah, once again, I learned this
when I went overseas, and I saw this
first hand. How Because when I went as
a child, I never understood these kind of
things too. But when you go there and
you see how the system is overseas,
and how people are, you know, when you're
saying that at Islamic seminary, how people have
a great deal of respect for their teachers,
and their and so forth. But I saw
this first hand, where people wanted to learn
from their teacher. Or they had a question
for their teacher, and they would just go
outside and sit outside for their teacher, to
wait for their teacher. In fact, I came
across a brother, I mean, he was a
He's a close friend of mine. He was
telling me that
he had a question for his teacher.
And he he went to his home, and
he sat outside his house for 3 hours,
and not a single time did he knock
on the door of his teacher because out
of for his own teacher. So you see
that this is how, you know, overseas, this
is how they teach.
That when you go to even your teachers,
this is how you approach your teachers and
so forth. Another thing that's also interesting to
learn from this aya is
that Allah The prophet
even he understood that these people are bedouins.
When he came outside,
he never got upset with these people. You
understand? He never got upset with them that,
what kind of adab is this? And why
don't you have adab and so forth? But
he understood
that these people they don't know. And that
is why then he
would teach them. Another thing that we learned
is the fact that
the they mentioned
that
the the problem with this man was not
only was he bothering rasulullah
alaihi wa sallam at the wrong time of
the day, but number 2 was just the
the disrespect when he would just say, You
Muhammad.
Not even,
and so forth. And we learned from this
that whenever we refer to
Rasulullah it is best that we always say
Anytime we hear the name of Muhammad, we
say
And interestingly,
if you look at the entire Quran, very
beautifully.
Allah
whenever he addressed
he would always address Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa
sallam by saying,
or
Never, wallahi, never in the Quran
did Allah ever address Rasulullah with his first
name.
Yes, we find
Allah addressed all the other prophets.
Addressed all the other prophets with their first
name.
Never in the case of Rasulullah
Because this shows us how we need to
show that respect to the prophet
So at least, at the bare minimum, whenever
we hear the name of Muhammad, we say
If we hear
we we hear the word,
we say,
We hear the word, we say,
And we'll finish on this, inshallah. I ask
Allah
to give us the understanding of these ayat
and grant us the the way the sahaba,
they will show to Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam.
