Alhamdulillahi alladhi ahsana kulla shay'in khalaqa wabada
khalqa al-insani min tiyn wa usalli wa
usallimu ala al-mab'uthi rahmatan lil'alamin
Sayyidina Muhammadin salallahu alayhi wasallam wa ala alihi
wa sahbihi ajma'in Amma ba'd yaqulu Allahu
ta'ala fi kitabihi alkarim wa huwa azdaqul
qa'ilin ba'da a'udhu billahi minash shaytanir
rajim Ya ayyuha alladhina aamanu ittaqullaha wa quluu
qawlan sadeeda yuslih lakum a'malakum wa yaghfir lakum
dhunubakum wa man yu'ti'illaha wa rasulahu faqad
faaza fawzan azeema I bear witness that there
is none worthy of our worship except Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala and I bear witness
that Muhammad salallahu alayhi wasallam is the seal
of the prophets and the final messenger to
all of humanity whoever Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala guides, there is none to misguide and
whoever Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala leads astray
there is no one to guide to the
right way wa ba'd inshallah I'm going to
begin with a story which is a very
powerful story from the hadith in nabi salallahu
alayhi wasallam and this story is mentioned in
different collections of hadith like al nasai, abu
dawud and there is one version of the
hadith in sahih muslim so this is a
story of a man, a youth by the
name of abu mahzura he also goes by
the name of aws ibn rabi'a abu
mahzura he was 16 years old, a youth
and he was not muslim at the time
the prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam was travelling one
day and he camped outside mecca so abu
mahzura, not a muslim, a youth, 16 years
old came for observation with a few of
his friends, like three of them it was
time for salatul dhuhr, so bilal radiallahu anhu
called the adhan and abu mahzura and his
non-muslim friends they started to make fun
of the adhan so for example, when bilal
radiallahu anhu said hayya alas salah you know
the egyptian, turkish, melodious style abu mahzura and
his friends started to copy the maqam of
the adhan and nabi salallahu alayhi wasallam saw
them from a distance and he told his
sahaba one of those guys who are making
fun of the adhan has an amazing voice
bring them here so they brought them, abu
mahzura, the youth, 16 years old not muslim,
who narrated the hadith he said, my knees
were knocking together I freaked out, I panicked
I'm a dead man already because I'm making
fun of the adhan and they called me
and the soldiers brought him to rasulallah salallahu
alayhi wasallam so when they came, rasulallah salallahu
alayhi wasallam told them to call the adhan
one by one and abu mahzura was the
last one of them and nabi salallahu alayhi
wasallam was very impressed by the voice of
abu mahzura and he told him, sit down
then the prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam took off
the turban of this youth, abu mahzura and
wiped over his head and made dua for
him he said, ya Allah bless him and
guide him to islam so he took shahada
on the spot, he accepted islam and nabi
salallahu alayhi wasallam then said now go, you
become the official muadhin of the haram in
mecca so he said, wait a minute, there's
a problem here so what is the problem?
he said, I can only make fun of
the adhan but I don't know how to
say it professionally so the prophet salallahu alayhi
wasallam taught him the wording of the adhan
and the iqama you know, in the hanafi
madhab, you guys from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan
Turkey, when you do iqama, you say everything
twice haya al salat, haya al salat, haya
al falat, haya al salat, everything twice in
arab countries, we do everything once in iqama
so in the hanafi madhab, they got everything
twice from this hadith in sahih muslim from
abu mahzura this man in the story rasulallah
taught him to say it this way and
rasulallah taught the sahaba both ways, the arab
way and also the hanafi way imam al
dhahabi, in his book siyad alam al nubala
he mentioned abu mahzura and he said that
abu mahzura, until he died many years later
he never ever shaved his head he said
that his hair grew all the way to
his knees he used to wrap it under
his turban nobody saw it, he kept it
under his turban only when he made wudu
or something they saw it and someone asked
him why didn't you shave your hair he
said how can I shave the hair that
was touched by the hands of hazrat muhammad
s.a.w he never shaved it his
children became the muadhinul haram grandchildren until the
time of imam al shabi'i so rasulallah
s.a.w was able to see beyond
his mistake making fun of the adhan he
was able to see the skill, the gift
that allah gave to him, abu mahzura and
used it for the benefit of the ummah
and that was the legacy of abu mahzura
every time you remember his name the adhan,
the hanafi way iqamah abu mahzura, this is
his legacy subhanallah so this is one of
the amazing things about rasulallah s.a.w
he was able to spot the skill, the
gift in each one of his sahaba and
use it for the benefit of the ummah
each and every one of you brothers, sisters,
old, young allah gave you a gift it's
different from the one who is sitting next
to you the problem is maybe you will
not be able to spot the gift and
over the years specially our youth they are
always on their phones electronics, playing games fortnite
and if you don't use the gift if
you don't use it, you lose it khalas,
it's gone so you need to find the
gift that allah gave you and use it
for the benefit of the people and this
will be your legacy a legacy, when i
ask people ok, what do you want your
legacy to be?
they say, well my legacy i want to
be remembered as the one who eats the
most biryani in my neighborhood or mansaf or
shawarma i want to be remembered as the
one who plays the most video games in
town and the one who sleeps for a
week straight, hibernates no, this is not a
legacy a legacy has to be something good
something that benefits others and subhanallah, when you
read the quran even anbiya pray to allah
to give them, to bless them with a
good legacy and this is the meaning of
the dua of ibrahim a.s. he said,
ya allah, bless me with a good legacy
honorable mention people until yawm al qiyamah they
will remember me they will say good things
about me they will follow my example ibrahim
a.s. was blessed with this legacy even
without asking for it we honored your mention
we gave you a great legacy hazrat muhammad
a.s even without him asking now subhanallah,
the sad reality is in another 40, 50,
60, 70 years most, if not all of
us people in attendance here today we will
not be around anymore 50, 60, 70 years
may allah bless you with a long and
healthy and happy life but even if you
live another 100 years eventually we are going
to leave this is the sad reality and
i always say that our indian and pakistani
brothers and sisters they have this lovely saying
in urdu zindagi bahut muhtasari i'm from egypt
but i love biryani so much and this
is why me and she order both as
long as it's not spicy like jahannum so
zindagi bahut muhtasari life is very short even
if you live to be 150 years old
it's still a short life hazrat nooh a
.s people think that he was 950 years
old when he died but this is not
correct he spent 950 years in dawah calling
people to the faith but imams say that
he was 1750 years old when he died
nabi s.a in an authentic hadith in
ibni abid dunya, it's a collection of hadith
he said that nooh a.s hazrat nooh
a.s was asked before he died 1750
years old how do you see your life
you lived a long life he said he
said my life was very short and this
is based on the hadith from rasulullah nooh
a.s said my life was so short
zindagi bahut muhtasari my life was very short
it felt like someone who entered his house
from the front door stood a little bit
in the living room then left from the
back door 1750 years old we are miskeen
subhanallah 60-70 years old khalas bye bye
janaza and how do we spend our time
subhanallah 7 years when you are young you
are not doing anything beneficial you go to
school another 7-8 years of your life
are gone if you eat 3 meals a
day that take you like 1 hour this
means that 3-4 years of your life
gone, eating non stop technically each one of
us in our lifetime we eat 25 tons
of food throughout your life 1 year in
the washroom maybe 1 or 2 years stuck
on the highway in the rush hour watching
movies, games social media facebook, twitter, instagram tiktok
another 15 years of your life gone what
is left really at the end if you
live 60 years you sleep 7-8 hours
a day this means if you die at
the age of 60 you spend 20 years
of your life sleeping snoring 1 third of
your life is gone on bed what is
left is the 5 minutes that you spend
in salah namaz and this is what will
give you jannah in the end so your
life is really very short so when we
leave this world and people forget us because
after 50-60 years when we leave this
world most people will not remember us anyway,
if you want the proof do you personally
remember the people who died 50-60-70
years ago no, we don't so I want
you to leave a legacy with Allah, to
be remembered for something good and I'm going
to share at the end a few examples
of how you can leave a legacy so
now when you think of the sahabah what
is the legacy they left so subhanallah if
you are from India Pakistan, Arab countries, Palestine
we ask Allah to support them and strengthen
them if you come from any of our
countries back home, North Africa you know these
countries they came to Islam through the sahabah
of the Prophet ï·º we are the fruit
of those sahabah if you think of just
one example of their legacies for example if
you think of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq what
comes to your mind for me the first
thing, the first legacy that he left is
dedication to Islam just one word, dedication Khadija
radiallahu anha sincerity and Nabi ï·º said in
the hadith in Bukhari Muslim, authentic hadith that
the top four best women of Jannah are
Khadija bint Khuwaylid Fatima bint Muhammad Asiya the
wife of Firaun and Maryam the mother of
Isa ï·º these are the top four women
of Jannah of all time Khadija radiallahu anha
made it to the top even though did
she pray five times namaz a day?
no, because she died before Isra and Mi
'raj so there was no five times salah
when she died did she fast in Ramazan?
no she died before Hijrah Ramazan became for
two years second year of Hijrah, no Ramazan
did she do hajj with Rasulullah?
no, did Rasulullah ï·º even pray janazah for
her?
there was no salatul janazah at the time
four times takbir?
no, it didn't exist at the time how
did she make it to the top?
her sincerity she was sincere with Rasulullah ï·º
she was always there for him you think
of Ali radiallahu anha, what is his legacy?
bravery and knowledge Uthman ibn Affan, Abdulrahman ibn
Affan, generosity Bilal, his voice Khalid ibn Walid,
leading the army so Rasulullah ï·º found the
gift in each and he used it for
the benefit of the ummah this is something
that we need to do in our lives
because each one of you is blessed in
a different way, some of you maybe Allah
blessed you with a good memory go memorize
the Quran some of you have a good
voice go call the adhan, Allah blessed you
with money, donate to the masjid here some
of you are blessed with free time, volunteer
I don't know look for your gift, find
it and use it for the benefit of
the ummah now I'm gonna share with you
some of the legacies of amazing people from
Islamic history and mashallah I see most of
you guys are young you are youth, this
is one of the most youthful communities I've
been to and by youth I always mean
75 and under, mashallah alhamdulillah so I'll share
some stories with you so you don't fall
asleep in the khutbah, inshallah so you think
of Sa'ad ibn Mu'adh r.a
from the Ansar, from Medina he received Rasulullah,
he was very supportive Rasulullah s.a.w.
said that when Sa'ad ibn Mu'adh
died the throne of Allah shook in joy
to receive his soul and 70,000 angels
came down for his funeral this is in
Bukhari and Muslim, it's an authentic hadith when
did he die?
he was 36 years old 36 you think
of Fatima r.a one of the four
top people of Jannah and Rasulullah s.a
.w. said you think because of her legacy
and greatness that she was like 60, 70
years old when she died, no Fatima ibn
Muhammad s.a.w. died in her 20s
and Rasulullah s.a.w. right before he
passed away he said you, Fatima r.a,
will be the first one to catch up
with me in Jannah she died 6 months
later she was in her 20s you think
of someone like Muhammad Abu'l Qasim Al
-Thaqafi those of you who come from India
and Pakistan he conquered India and Pakistan for
Islam, he was 17 years old and he
died at the age of 23 this man
Muhammad Abu'l Qasim Al-Thaqafi 23 years
old when he died 17 years old he
became a military commander you think of Imam
Al-Nawawi he was a great scholar one
of the greatest scholars in the history of
Islam he died at the age of 45
Sibaway, one of the greatest scholars of the
Arabic language he came from a Persian background
his background is not even Arab he became
one of the masters of the Arabic language
he died at the age of 32 32
you think of Malcolm X one of the
greatest Muslim leaders in the history of North
America died back in 1965 at the age
of 39 very young you think of someone
like if you are from North Africa, Tunisia
you know Abu'l Qasim Al-Shaabi rahimahullah
till this day, he is the greatest poet
in Tunisian history the national anthem if the
people want life they must respond to fate
this powerful poem, the national anthem of Tunisia
comes from this guy the greatest poet in
Tunisian history he died at the age of
25 back in 1934 so what these amazing
figures have in common they all died young
they didn't count the years they made the
years count so this is something that you
need to think about inshallah what kind of
legacy do you want to leave behind well
it doesn't have to be something very sophisticated
it can be something simple like raising good
Muslim kids this is your legacy they will
make dua for you and so on and
so forth you can be a good Muslim
professional you can be a good Muslim doctor,
engineer, teacher Uber driver if you work at
the gas station you put a smile on
people's faces you do your job professionally you
become an ambassador for Islam there are so
many ways you can leave a legacy as
a Muslim in this life so we ask
Allah to bless you with a long and
healthy and happy life and may Allah give
us the best in this life and the
best in the life to come I
wanted the Quran to be my legacy when
I leave this life I want to be
remembered as someone who served the Quran and
someone who tried to make the Quran in
English more accessible to people and this is
why Alhamdulillah I produced the clear Quran which
we use for da'wah in North America,
Alhamdulillah so my story in brief I grew
up in a small village in Egypt, about
3 hours drive to the north of Cairo
and I had no potential whatsoever of going
to school my father was totally against it
he wanted me to become a farmer just
like everyone else in the village but my
mother had a different plan for me so
she put up a big fight with my
father she went to struggle against my father
she said it's a shame that we have
a family of so many and none of
us has ever been educated my mother and
my father and my siblings they didn't go
to school so Alhamdulillah eventually Allah put Rahmah
in his heart I ended up going to
school we didn't have a school in the
village so I went to Al-Azhar in
another village I used to walk 1 hour
in the morning 1 hour back in the
evening completed my Hifdh by the age of
12 and finally 1997 I moved, I left
the village I moved to Cairo to study
Islam in English and translation there was one
big problem for me I didn't know any
English before the age of 20 just a
normal small guy from the village, no English
we didn't have the best English teachers at
Al-Azhar in Egypt so the pronunciation was
all wrong let me give you a flavor
of my suffering of my English in high
school so for example in high school they
taught us to say at Al-Azhar I
have a problem in my stomach instead of
stomach it's too much my biryani, my mansaf
or my shawarma is very deliquious instead of
delicious I have extensive ex-appearance instead of
experience so terrible, terrible subhanallah, so one night
back in 1997, I was very frustrated I
made dua to Allah I said ya rabbal
alameen, you created the heavens and the earth
and the galaxies so inshallah help me with
my English and I'm going to use it
to teach people about Islam so alhamdulillah I
did my part with the help of Allah
and after 3 years I graduated top of
the entire English department shortly after I was
appointed as a professor to teach Islam in
English and translation got my masters, my PhD
in English 2007 I moved to South Carolina
I was the imam there in Clemson for
4 years and my English went down a
big time I'm not aware because here in
North Carolina the English is good, like the
North but South Carolina is totally different subhanallah
so alhamdulillah eventually I translated the Qur'an
the clear Qur'an, the first one was
done from Mecca Medina, Tarawih, the subtitles behind
Shurim, Sudeis, Hudaifi then the clear Qur'an
for Dawah, the clear Qur'an for Muslims
with the Arabic text then we did the
clear Qur'an dictionary for non-Arabs so
they can understand the Qur'an in just
4 months we have the app and the
book the clear Qur'an dictionary then with
a group of kids 7 years and older
we did the clear Qur'an for kids
4 volumes covering the whole Qur'an with
illustrations and stories then we did the clear
Qur'an made easy for new Muslims it's
the first Tafsirul Qur'an for new Muslims
and inshallah in about a week we'll be
releasing the clear Qur'an the clear seerah
for kids so they love the legacy of
the Rasulullah in the English language the reason
I came all the way from Chicago I
have one minute inshallah is to get your
continued support for the clear Qur'an for
Dawah Alhamdulillah in the last 4 years alone
we have distributed more than 5 million copies
of these in the US and Canada with
your help this is one of the most
generous communities we have been to in North
America you guys sponsor more boxes than anyone
else and also in return you guys, this
fantastic community you receive more boxes of the
clear Qur'an as a gift from Fufqan
Foundation more than any other masjid in North
America Alhamdulillah May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
bless the Imams and the administration of this
masjid for always opening their doors and hearts
for us now with the genocide in Gaza
may Allah protect them and give them Izzah
and Nasr Ya Rabbal Alameen there is a
lot of interest in Islam from non-Muslims
because before October of last year we used
to receive like hundreds of requests from non
-Muslims they want to get 3 copies of
the Qur'an since October until today we
have been receiving thousands of requests every month
so every few weeks we print 100,000
copies within a few weeks they are all
gone so we always need copies and subhanallah
this is a complaint that we always receive
from non-Muslims especially those who accept Islam
they say after they take shahada where are
you guys where have you guys been because
20-30 years ago my parents, grandparents were
desperately looking for the truth nobody told them
about Islam no one gave them Qur'an
and they died kafir because of you why
are you hiding Qur'an why are you
hiding Islam so we need to go out
there and mashallah you have an amazing dawah
team here in the masjid may Allah bless
them but we need to do more we
need to make sure that every non-Muslim
in this country receives the Qur'an in
their hand this is their right on us
the sad reality is we have neighbors all
of us many of them are not Muslim
they have never heard anything about Islam they
have never heard anything about Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam never heard anything about the Qur
'an they cannot figure things out on their
own we have to teach them we are
hiding this treasure for ourselves and you see
people of batil Jehovah's Witnesses they knock on
your door all the time they give you
materials you go to hotels they have their
book in the hotels we are not doing
our best we can do more so what
I want from you to continue your support
inshallah as you exit today there is a
table here downstairs for the brothers there is
another table for the sisters downstairs sponsor at
least a box a box has 52 copies
of these which means 52 families will receive
them at Furqan Foundation we have more than
100 teams across North America handing out free
Qur'ans to those who are interested prisons
hospitals, MSAs you name it so every year
we give out more than a million copies
and we have seen thousands of shahadahs every
month across North America so let's do our
part if Allah bless you with money do
5 boxes, 10 boxes, 50, 100 you will
get a tax receipt and you will get
a bigger copy than this as a gift
you can check it outside inshallah I've done
most of the work, the translation we have
a Furqan team is helping me and if
you sponsor today you will be sharing the
reward with us if someone accepts Islam you
can do it one time you can do
it monthly, no problem you will get a
tax receipt and this will be a sadaqah
for you and your family inshallah we ask
Allah to bless you with health and wealth
and may Allah make things easy for all
of us and may Allah guide people to
the straight path may Allah bless your children
make them good Muslims, ambassadors for Islam and
may Allah help you leave a good legacy
your support for Dawah can be your legacy
today
