AI: Summary ©
I
ever
I bear witness that there is none worthy
of our worship except Allah
And I bear witness that Muhammad
peace be upon him, is the seal of
the prophets and the final messenger to all
of humanity.
Whoever
Allah guides, there's none to misguide, and whoever
Allah
leaves to stray, there's none to guide
So a few days ago, we received a
special guest, the month of Ramadan,
and in a few days we'll be saying
goodbye to this month Hoping that Allah
will give us the life and the strength,
to reach Ramadan of next year And we
pray that Allah
will accept our Ibadah in this month We
ask Allah
to accept our fasting
and our prayers and our charities during the
month of Ramadan
وَلَ So we also praise Allah
For giving us the life to witness this
month, which is a great honor. And we
thank Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for giving us
tawqibul hidayah to witness this month, to fast
and pray and give zakat.
And subhanAllah is raining outside, and this is
one of the times in which the dua
is accepted So we hope that Allah
will accept our dua during this time. Ameen
Ameen.
There are different reactions
we get from people at the end of
Ramadan
Those who are sad because the month is
gonna be over in a few days,
and these are the people who are happy
and excited and elevated at the beginning of
the month. Because they know the value and
the significance of this month. They can easily
get closer to Allah
they can get their sins forgiven, and they
can get a lot of hasanah during this
month.
Also, there are people who are excited and
dancing in the street at the end of
the month,
and they are the same people who were
stressed out at the beginning of Ramadan. Oh,
another Ramadan!
My freedom is gonna be limited, I'm not
gonna be drinking Tim Hortons coffee every day
during the day, and those who smoke, it's
a big problem. 17 18 hours I'm not
gonna be able to smoke. So they feel
like their freedom is gonna be limited.
So this is why when they announce that
Ramadan is this day or that day, MashaAllah,
they're excited and they're happy.
Well, you shouldn't be excited and happy because
you never know if your fasting and salah
and zakah were accepted in the 1st place.
You should be excited and happy on the
Day of Judgment,
when you know that, when you receive the
announcement that Allah accepted your Ibadah
Ramadan that Allah would give them the life
to witness Ramadan, and the 6 months after
Ramadan, they make dua' that Allah accept their
Ibadah in the month of Ramadan. So their
whole year revolves around the month of Ramadan.
So these are the 2 groups. There is
a 3rd group.
Those who actually are not happy, they are
not mad, because basically,
quite frankly, really,
they don't care.
Because Ramadan for them is just another month,
like December, like January, just another month. So
they didn't increase their hanal, they didn't close
get close to Allah
They didn't get their sins forgiven, and so
on and so forth. So again,
this is a special month, especially the last
part of the month. The last 10 nights
or the last 10 days. I call them
the top 10.
The top 10. Imam Ibn Al Qayyim says,
So Imam al Qayyib says,
when horses are racing, they are in a
race.
Close to the end of the race, they
go fast.
Why? Because they know that the last 100
yards or the last 200 yards, this is
what matters. This is what will decide who's
gonna be 1st and who's gonna be 2nd.
So if you have not done enough yet,
in the last 10, 25 days or in
the last 26 days of Ramadan, you still
have a chance. You haven't missed out a
big deal.
You have the last 10 nights,
those I mean, the few days are left,
insha'Allah, most likely they have Laylatul Qadr, which
is tonight, hopefully insha'Allah, according to the majority
of the scholars, tonight is Laylatul Qadr.
So, you still have a lot of things
to do Insha'Allah,
and it doesn't take a lot of time
to gain the rewards of the last 10
nights of the month of Ramadan. We're going
to get through some of them.
Number 1 of them is Laylatul Patr, and
this is why the last ten are so
special.
Laylatul Patr, as we know from Surah Adhadr,
Khayrum min al Fishaar, is better than a
1000th month of Hidal.
Allah
knows that most of us,
would die at the age of 60 or
the age of 70, as the Prophet said
in the hadith. We don't live as long
as the people of Nuh, for example.
Nuh alaihis salam, we know from the Quran.
He spent
950 years in dawah, but his actual life,
according to the scholars, was,
1250
years or 1500 years. That was his life.
And according to,
Khontubi in his book of Tanfkara,
when he was about to die, people asked
him,
how do you look at your life, the
1500 years you lived? He said, well, it
is just like entering the house through the
front door, and leaving through the back door.
My life was
short. 1500 years.
And, they say in another narration that a
woman came to him, and she said my
son died, a kid, he died. And he
said how old was he? She said 300
years. So he said, SubhanAllah, he was too
young. Like, 300 years.
So a woman came to him. That woman,
when he died at the age of 300
years, her son, she said,
do you know what? There is an Umma
that will come after us. They will live
only 60, 50, 70 years.
So what will you do if you live
among them? So the lady said, if it's
only 60, 70 years, then a very short
time, I'm gonna spend my whole life in
sajdah. To Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
So 50 60 years is not a long
life. Right? So we need to take advantage
of this, and do the best during this
time.
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala knows that our
lives are not that long.
So what Allah
did, He gave us special nights like Laylatul
Qadr. You're not gonna live 1500 years like
Nuh
but you have Laylatul Qadr. You spend 1
hour in Ibadah in Laylatul Qadr, like tonight
most likely Insha'Allah,
you will get the reward of 84 years.
Because Laylatul Qadr is better than a 1000
months. A 1000 months are 84 years.
The Aleman say,
for example, if you pray Salatul Isha in
JAMA'afi Laylatul Qadr.
You'll get the reward for praying Isha for
84 years in JAMA'a.
If you give Zakah or Sadaqah during Laylatul
Qadr, you will get the reward for giving
Zakah for 84 years.
And so on and so forth. If you
read Quran, if you make Dua, and so
on and so, you will get the reward
for 84 years. So this is a very
special time.
The Prophet
says,
in the hadith that Tuktah with Abdaf
One of the reasons
why Laylat al Qadr is given that name,
Qadr al Aabi means the value and the
significance.
It's a significant or important man. So this
is an important night.
Another meaning of Qadr is,
So this night, the Qadr is written for
you, and the rest is given.
So Allah
will write for you that you will gain
this amount of money from this Laylatul Qadr
to the next Laylatul Qadr.
Or Allah
will write for example that this person who's
sitting among us here
will die before next Ramadan. It is written.
So we are happy, we are enjoying life,
jumping around, we don't know that it is
already, already written for us that we will
not be here for later till Qadr next
year.
And the Prophet
says, walayaruudurqaba'a
ila dua'a.
The Prophet
said, nothing can stop the Qadr of Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Like, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
has written that, for example, you will lose
a child, or for example, you will fall
sick, or you will get laid off, you
will lose your money, something bad will happen,
the Prophet
says, the only thing that can stop that
is to make dua, to do your best
in dua. And this is a very special
night to make dua to Allah
to give you every good, and to keep
the bad away from you, and hopefully that
Allah
will give you the good, and keep you
away from the bad.
So make sure, inshaAllah, you spend some time,
some time tonight. You don't have to do
a whole lot, what you normally do, pray
Isha in JAMA'ah, pray Fazri in JAMA'ah,
pray Tawiyyah, it takes 1 hour with us,
we make Dua at the end, insha'Allah.
So again, this is all you need to
do to get the reward. And the Prophet
SAW told Aisha radiAllahu anha in Bukhari, If
it is Laylatul Qadr Fafuli Allahu Ma'inaqaaafuwun
tohibulahu wa fafaaani You Allah, You are the
Most Forgiving, You love to forgive, so have
mercy on me and forgive me.
So again, it is very simple insha'Allah.
So now imagine,
if you stand 1 night in salah tonight,
if you stand at Al Thar insha'Allah, and
you get the reward for 84 years. If
you work for a company, for Bell,
or you work for any company, Tim Hortons,
any company, and they tell you, we need
you to work just 1 hour,
and we will give you the salary for
84 years.
I think if me or you say no
to that deal or that offer, we got
to go to a psychiatrist. We need to
go to a doctor, because something has got
to be wrong. Right? Because he cannot give
any better than that. This is a great
reward from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, so we
need to take advantage of that night.
I was talking to a couple of prophets,
and one of them said: Okay, you know,
it's kind of day today, there are gonna
be,
fireworks.
I'm gonna be there in the, around city,
square 1, watching the fireworks the whole night.
I said that this is a very special
time, Laylatul Qadr, night. This is a very
special night, in 84 years, man. Plus you
can do a tikaf with us here, or
pray tarawiyyah with us, and we can see
the, you know, the supreme,
whatever they call it, the,
we can see the city square from here,
you can see the 2 towers from here,
so you can actually have a good view
of the fireworks from here. So pray Tarawah
here if you want to watch the fireworks,
you can see them from here. You don't
have to go all the way, and inshaAllah
you get that award for Laylatul Qadr if
you gotta go. Right? But again,
this special night don't waste your time. You're
close to Allah
The second thing that you can do in
this month is to do Atikaf.
And a tikaf, basically,
in the last 10 nights, you can actually
do a tikaf in all of Ramadan and
in the whole year, but the Prophet
used to give a lot of significance
to the last 10 nights of the month
of Ramadan.
According to the majority of the Haramah, you
don't have to stay up all day and
night in the masjid. The majority of the
scholars say there's no minimum. So, say, for
example, we are sitting in Jum'ah now, you
can make the niyyah for a tikaf right
now, until we finish salah,
half an hour, 20 minutes, you'll get the
reward for a tikaf. It doesn't be have
to be a whole day.
This is the opinion of the majority of
the scholars. So if you come tonight for
Maghrib, or you come for Isha and Taraweeh,
you can make the niyah through a tikaf.
You'll get the reward of a tikaf. What
can you do when you come for Antikaf?
There are 3 things that people do, and
I spoke about this before. Permissible things,
So there are 3 things that people do
in Iftikaf. The first thing,
which are of course, like
salah, like reading Quran, remembering Allah, istafar,
and these are the requirements for Altaqah. And
this is why you left your house and
came to the masjid.
Number 2: people do permissible things. Say for
example, someone has an exam tomorrow.
Can they study while they're doing antakaat? They
pray a little they pray some time, but
they study sometimes? Yes. Why not?
Someone
asks you about the weather. Nothing wrong, it's
permissible thing. But you should give time to
tikaf as well, and focus on Ibadah.
The third thing,
is when people,
they do haram things in the masjid. I'll
give a couple of examples. Some people, and
I've seen this with my own eyes, they
come to the Masjid, they sit in at
Tikaf, and they talk about other people, backbite
them. Oh, this man is tall, this man
is this, this lady is ugly, this is
that, you know, he is a thief, this
is No. You don't leave your house and
come to the Masjid to backbite people. We
can do that at Tim Hortons, when you
sit in your basement and talk about other
people.
Some people bring,
or they come to the masjid and they
are very loud. They talk or whatever.
Even when people were making atikaf at the
time of the Prophet
he told them, even if you are reading
Quran in atikaf,
don't raise your voice because everyone is trying
to communicate with Allah. If you're allowed, you're
distracting people's attention.
So keep it down so everyone can have
this peaceful time to make dua and pray
to Allah
Sometimes, and I've seen this in almost all
the Masjid that happened to,
a lot of people they bring their kids
to the Masjid and they leave. They go
shopping, they go to the movies,
go watch the fireworks, they just throw their
kids in the Masjid to ruin my life
and tear the masjid down. Right? So because
now their kids are playing with other kids,
and you know, they can't have some time
outside.
You shouldn't do that. And I think I
gave the example
of one day I was in South Carolina
praying tahajjud like 3 in the morning, and
this family they put their kids in the
masjid in the back, and they gave them
a ball, and the parents left, and the
kids were playing, and they hit me twice
with the ball.
And I heard one of them said, after
they hit me the first time, Oh, maybe
we didn't get him the first time, let's
try again. Right?
So, they ruined my night. Right?
So, make it peaceful everyone, come for Ibadah.
This is a very special time, and if
you don't want to do Ibadah, you don't
have to come to the Masjid, you are
just bas you are wasting your time, and
you are bothering everyone else.
The third thing we can
do, the end of the month is Zakatul
Fitr.
And the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam Fil
Hadith al Farhadh al Alaayna Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam zakatul fitr.
So this is the whole purpose behind Zakatul
Firthr. If there was a glitch in your
fasting, you did something wrong,
whether you remembered or you forgot,
and you give Zakatul Firthr at the end
of the month, which is $10, and you
should give it before the day of Eid
insha'Allah,
to the poor, or if you give it
to the masjid, insha'Allah, there are boxes downstairs,
we will give it to the poor, insha'Allah,
to purify your fasting of any, glitches or
mistake, and also, so the poor people, the
miskeen, they don't have to beg people for
food or money on the day of Eid.
The majority of the scholars say, you give
food, but Imam Abu Hanifa, or Imam Allah
said, you can give money.
Which is actually more practical in our times,
because back then, at the time of the
Sahar al Adhuana alaihi, they didn't have a
lot of needs.
The biggest need they had was food.
But now we have needs to pay the
rent, to pay the bills, for to get
a medication, and so on and so forth.
Some people like to buy clothes, they already
have food, but they don't have clothes, or
they don't have medicine. So you give them
the money, they can buy whatever they want.
There is a compromise between the money and
the food. If you can give them a
gift card from Walmart, FreshCo, for beef food
basics,
they can go buy food, or can they
can buy whatever they want.
In some cases, if you give them food,
and they already have food, they're gonna sell
it at a cheaper price,
so it's up to you. If you want
to give food, alhamdulillah, this is the majority
of the scholars' opinion. If you want to
give money, this is the opinion of Imam
Abu Harifa, both of them are acceptable, and
both of them are good, inshaAllah.
But again, you have to give it before
salatulayit, inshaAllah.
The last thing,
for the first footba is Zakah. We know
that in Ramadan the reward for good deeds
are multiplied. You pray 1 fard, like 4,
you get the reward of 70.
You pray sunnah, you get the reward of
fard. You do umrah in Ramadan, you get
the reward of Hajj, and so on and
so forth.
So this is a very special time,
to do all the good deeds. So So
if you want to give your Zakah in
Ramadan, this is the best time. And the
Prophet
SAW Allaah
Al Hadith takalamufi
fi baadumu saharu alaabdulil
salatat fakhar alsalatahu fiyir Ramadan. The Prophet SAW
Allaah was asked
what is the best time to give my
Zakah or Salatah? And the hadith is, questionable
by some of the scholars, some say authentic,
some say it is not, and the Prophet
said, Assalatah Ramadan, this is the best Zakah
or the best Salatah. So we ask Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala to accept our abadat in
this month, and to give us our reward,
Ameel, Ameel, salallahu.
Number 1 is the day of Jum'ah, and
we know in our tradition that Jum'ah is
a day of Eid.
Tonight inshaAllah most likely is Dayatul Qadr, and
this is Eid that comes every year, and
this is the best night in the whole
year.
Tonight is Canada Day,
and this is a good day. We ask
Allah
to keep this country safe and good for
everyone.
And today is also Somalia Independence Day. So
we pray to Allah
to make that country secure and safe, insha'Allah,
and to bless the people and make it
easy for them. Today is also imam day,
because I was born this day many years
back. I'm kind of old.
Today also is very special. Yeah, someone said
takbir.
Today is also very special, because this is
the day
we will finish the loan on the bank.
Sorry, the loan to the bank on the
masjid. Because
20 years ago, we got the loan from
the bank, and it took us 20 years
to to pay. 2 weeks ago, I did
the fundraise, alhamdulillah we had, 500 spots to
sell, so we can't pay off the loan,
fix the roof, it's in bad shape, fix
the parking lot, and alhamdulillah we sold,
350
spots in 1 hour in this masjid Alhamdulillah.
$350,000
were raised that day. So every spot is
$1,000
Now only a 150
spots.
So you will get salat Hajjari in the
masjid buying this spot. This is your last
chance. Only 1 50 spots are left.
$1,000
each, and you'll have a whole year to
pay. You can pay your Ramadan, you can
pay,
before next Ramadan, Alhamdulillah,
and you will get a tax receipt. So
you can buy 1 or more for yourself,
for your parents, to honor them, or for
your family, your kids, your wife, and Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala will give you the reward,
the pledges are available,
and tonight, insha'Allah, with the help of Allah,
and with your contributions, this masjid will be
loan free for the first time in 20
years. No more loans, no more riba in
this masjid, so let's do it tonight, inshaAllah.
So the pledges are here if you want
to contribute, the pledges are available downstairs.
Sister's side, they are also available, and you
can talk to me or talk to brother
Abhis Salaam and the brothers downstairs.
Also, we will make du'a, special du'a for
brother, Sayyid Imtiaz Hussain. He passed away, so
we ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to give
him Jannah and accept his Ibarah in the
month of Rudan, and we ask Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala to accept him, and give him
the Shafa'ah of Muhammad
in this blessed month.
Eid ul Filth inshaAllah, salatul Eid. Everyone is
excited now? Salatul Eid. Eid ul Filth inshaAllah
will be on Wednesday, July 6th.
July 6 insha'Allah will be, so, will be
Eid, the first day of Eid, and we'll
have salah to Eid at 8 AM insha'Allah.
It's gonna be here in English. 1 salah
at 8,
AM in the morning, and we're gonna have
breakfast as well.
Eid Festival, Al Atolla Eid Festival will be
here in this masjid, inshaAllah, Saturday, July 9th
from 10 AM
to 8 PM, inshaAllah. So everyone is welcome.
Bring your family and your friends, inshaAllah.
The last thing I want to say before
I conclude, and I cannot emphasize this enough.
We know from a hadith, like the hadith
in Musa'idim, Imam Ahmad,
that by the end of Ramadan, we have
done a lot during this month. Fasting for
17, 18 hours, praying to a week 1
night,
8 raka, 11 raka, 20 raka. We have
given Zakah, sadaqa, sadaqa jariyah, and some of
us would not get their good deeds raised
to Allah
at the end of the month. Why?
According to the hadith in Muslim
Umayyah Muhammad,
The person who cut off his or her
family relations,
they don't talk to their parents, they don't
talk to their brothers and sisters, and their
close relatives, their good deeds would not be
erased to Allah. So if you have not
spoken to your brothers and sisters I know
so many cases I receive
I do counseling all the time. People don't
talk to each other for 15, 20, 30
years because of, disagreement over inheritance.
You don't talk to your brothers and sisters
for 25 years because of a piece of
land that you are gonna leave behind, and
your kids are gonna fight over. This is
Haram. This is not the right thing to
do. Even if they are at fault,
they have done you wrong, they are bad,
you know, give them a call, and say
Eid Mubarak, nothing else.
So that in the eyes of Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala, you are not caught to Rahim.
If your mom or your dad are not
happy with you because you got married to
this good sister, or you did something, you
traveled to Canada, you didn't stay with them,
again, give them a call and say forgive
me. Even if they are at fault, say
forgive me. Forgive me, please.
You know, I I ask for your forgiveness.
So, in this case, inshaAllah, even if you
say these words, Happy Eid, may Allah accept
from you forgive me, then Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala will not count you among those who
cut off their family relations. Your deeds will
be raised to Allah, and you will get
the 4th reward. We ask Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala to give us that reward for our
Ibadah in this month, for our fasting, and
our prayers, and our zakan and sadaqa jariyah.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to forgive
all Muslims, Ameen, Ameen.
