Discussion about Adar al Adar al Afar InshaAllah.
Yeah. I got some candy here with me.
If you want candy, let me know. Barat
lobby.
What candy?
Shit.
Barat lucky.
So,
tonight inshallah,
we'll talk about Husnu Vani Billah, thinking well
of Allah Thinking
well,
entertaining
these good thoughts about Allah
And before we do this,
someone has been requesting that we move the
halakat to 8 o'clock, so they have time
to come from work, and have dinner, and
chai, and biryani, and chicken sukha,
and then come. So what do you think?
Should we keep it at 6:30 or move
it to 8?
8.
I prefer to keep it. Prefer at 6:30?
After I shall. Okay. So we can take
votes. You know?
Whoever likes 6:30, raise your hand.
Everyone, 6:30.
Halas will do that 8 Insha Allah. Our
democracy.
Okay.
Okay.
So
thinking well of Allah
Sometimes we get to a point
in our lives where we hit a low
in terms of the difficulties, and the challenges,
and the trials in life,
or by just reading the news. You look
around, you read the news, you see what
what is happening in Halep in Syria, or
in Iraq, or in other places in Yemen,
in Libya.
It's very frustrating, it's very disappointing.
And you feel powerless and helpless, there's nothing
you can do,
or at least this is what we think.
Or on a personal level, someone has a
divorce,
their kids fail at school, they got laid
off, they lost their job, their car broke
down.
Frustrations happen all the time. Or someone has
been married for so many years, no kids.
I've seen so many cases.
Some people have kids, and they lose a
child. And
I always mention the example of the Prophet
He had 7 kids, 6 of them died
in his lifetime.
So all these difficulties
and challenges in life
So,
people come to a point where they feel
like they are helpless,
and they think
it will it's a good idea that Allah
would take them and die in chalaz.
They're hopeless, chalaz.
If I die, I think this will be
like the other day there was a brother
who came to me, his daughter was like,
I think she was 12 years old, she
had cancer or something and she died. And,
she died like 2 years ago. And the
brother always comes to me and he has
tears in his eyes, and and he says,
I'm thinking about my daughter all the time,
and I feel like,
you know, I I wish I can die.
Right?
His life is very difficult.
And I told him about what happened with
the Prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam, and Allah
will give you the reward, and this is
shafa'ah for you in Akhira.
And we're not staying in this dunya, we're
we're here for a short time,
and as you guys say in Urdu, zindagi
bahut muqtasalay,
life is very short. We're not here to
stay for,
there was a Somali brother here.
For 5 years or 10 years.
Right? Life is very short.
So eventually if we will leave, we're not
here to, to stay. If you think about
Muhammad salallahu alaihi wa sallam, when he lost
6 out of his 7 kids, can you
imagine?
If you have 7 kids,
every few months or every 2 years you
take one to the graveyard,
you lose Khadija,
then you get married, Zaynah bintuquzaymah,
after 6 months she dies, and
SubhanAllah. It's it must have been very difficult
for the Prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam, very
difficult, like losing
the beloved ones, especially your kids, is probably
the most difficult thing that can happen to
you. I know some couples,
it happened to us,
me and my wife, we lost, we had
a couple of miscarriages, and that was a
very difficult time for us.
And imagine if you have your baby, you
hug them, you carry them around,
and all of a sudden you lose them.
It's very difficult.
And this is why Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
will give you the greatest honors on the
Day of Judgment if you are patient. There
are so many hadith.
Jalal ad Din Suyuti,
he's one of the the 2 who did
tafsiru Jalalayin.
He wrote a whole book, he collected all
the hadith that talked about the reward
of those who lose a baby, and they
are patient. They always
revolve around
that your kids will wait for you by
the door of Jannah, they will take you
straight, no questions asked.
Your life will be easy, they will make
Shafa'ah for
you. So, the sahaba
said that, yes, all these things happened to
the Prophet
the loss of family members,
persecution,
denial from his people, they were abusing him,
the kids were throwing stuff, and someone would
come and step on his neck, and they
put garbage on his neck, and
They said we never saw anyone who smiled
more than the prophet
Why? Because he saw the the whole picture.
He knew that we are not here to
stay, this life is a test, and he
was keeping his eye on the reward, so
this is why he was positive and and
and he was happy in his life. If
you look at someone like Yusuf alaihis salam,
I understand if your enemies or the people
who don't know you, abuse you or give
you a hard time, okay, they are your
enemies.
But your brothers,
your flesh and blood, they stab you in
the back, they try to kill you, they
throw you in the well, and in the
story, they say that the ones who sold
him into slavery, and they sent him to
Egypt, were actually his brothers.
When the people got him out of the
will, his brothers came okay, and and they
said you guys are taking him, he is
ours, you have to pay.
So they actually sold him. 1st they tried
to kill him, and eventually they tried to
they sold him.
Very cheap,
very cheap. Right?
Eventually,
the lady of Al Aziz in Egypt, they
tried to seduce him, they She was busting
all the moves, and he ended up in
jail, and all these things. Right? Very difficult
life.
And it never occurred in the Surah, Surah
Yusuf, surah 12 that he tried to kill
himself,
or he was asking for death. Never.
And eventually he became the Aziz of Egypt,
because he knew that all these bad things
that happened to him for a reason,
so only for him to become an Aziz
of Egypt. If he stayed with his father,
or if they didn't throw him in the
wheel, or try to kill him, he couldn't
have become the Aziz of Egypt. But Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala was doing all of this
for a good reason.
If you think of someone like
Musa alaihis salam. If you read in the
Quran,
anyone of us in his place, you would
have had a heart attack and died.
These people made his life very difficult, and
it is in the Quran.
You see they leave Egypt, Allah saved them,
and they say, ijaalana ilahaan kaballumalu.
Can you give us a God like this,
idol here so we can worship?
You guys, your your feet are still wet.
I parted the sea for you, you saw
Jamarajiza,
The sea is parting, and you see the
whales and the sharks and the stuff, and
and you can walk, and Allah gave you
a dry passage, and now you're asking for
a God? What is this?
Then they go, and Allah gave them and
quails. Quails are like birds, like smaller than
chicken.
And manna is basically flour
that tasted like honey. So that was their
food. Bread with honey and meat.
They said, we want onions, we don't like
this anymore. We want onions and garlic and
He said, What's wrong with you? Right? He
said, Okay, let's go and ask Allah for
mafira, for forgiveness. They go, and they say,
can we see Allah? Because if we didn't
see Allah, you're actually faking this is just
like a joke and,
what? They gave him an artha.
Kill a cow, eat a cow. Oh, what
kind of cow? Yellow, what?
Very difficult,
you know.
He never prayed for Actually close to the
end of his life
in Surah Hazab, Surah 33, Allah
says, You are you are laveena habenu,
lataqunu
kalaveena azza o Musa.
Don't be like those who harmed Musa alaihi
sallam. Think one of the greatest people to
walk the face of this earth, you know
he was accused
of killing his brother Harun, his biggest supporter.
Salatakunu
kaladin ala Musa in one of the tafasir,
he's he was traveling with his brother Harun,
and he said, You killed him.
You were jealous of of him.
They accused him of killing his own brother
who died of a natural death.
In some narration,
Harun alayhi wasalam spoke after his death and
he said: No, I died a natural death.
And this isn't tafsir, allahu 'am. You see,
they gave him a hard time. You see,
someone like Ayyub he
was rich, he was healthy, he was handsome,
he lost everything.
He He lost his money, he lost his
kids, he lost his health, everything!
Alarq al Khaliq al He lost everything.
And he was sick for so many years,
some of the haramasts said he was sick
for 40 years. People abandoned him, the only
one who was there to serve him was
his wife.
And eventually Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gave him
back
his family twice over, and He gave him
his wealth and health and everything. But it
never occurred
in the, in the surah and surasad and
other places in the Quran that he prayed
for death.
When his wife came to him and she
said, Okay. Ask Allah to give you shifa.
He said, You an inni astaghimill Allah. I'm
ashamed
because Allah gave me health
for 40 years or 80 years in another
narration.
I have to stay in this condition for
another 40 or 80 years before I can
ask Him.
So if I say 40 years with a
good health, and Allah took my health for
10 years or 20 years, I'll be ashamed
to ask him to remove this hardship, I
have to wait for another 40.
So it will be balanced, now I can
ask.
And so on and so forth. Ibrahim alaihis
salaam being abused by his friends and his
father was against him, they threw him in
the fire, he never prayed for death. And
so on and so forth, the stories
are so many.
For Ta'ban,
The Prophet
is telling us in the hadith, and Bukhari,
and Muslim,
So
the Prophet says that Allah says,
whatever you think of me, I'm better than
that. If you think Allah would be generous
to you, Allah would take care of you,
your He will take good care of you,
Allah will do that to you. But if
you think that Allah is not able to
forgive you or take care of you,
why would you do it?
Like say for example you go to a
king or a rais,
and He can do anything to you. So
you're talking to him because you want money
or you want something, and you tell, You
know what, rais or king? I I don't
think you can help me.
You're not good enough to help me. You
can't take good care of me. So what
do you think they will do? They'll say,
out.
Bye bye. If you think I can help
you or take care of why are you
here in the 1st place? Alright? So you
shouldn't do this to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
In Hatan Noah,
in Egypt in 19,
1978,
Mostafa Ismail, one of
the greatest disciters of all time. He was
a contemporary of Abbasid, and bin Shawi, and
Khosrae, some of the great Quran.
So Mostafa Ismail, mashAllah, his recitation was very
fantastic. I love him so much. So what
happened when he died? The
the law in Egypt said, when you die
you go to the graveyard. You don't have
a private,
graveyard in your house or in your backyard.
This is against the law.
But his family wanted to make an exception
for him. He has this, villa, and he
has a backyard with, mashallah, very nice.
So they sent his brother,
that was in 1978,
I was 20 year old.
I'm old. So what happened, his brother went
to the prison of Egypt, he went to
Sadat, the prison of Egypt.
And he said my brother passed away, and
Sadat loved him so much. He used to
like copy his example, used to recite for
Allah like him.
So he said, I want to make an
exception for my brother, so we can bury
him in my backyard.
So the sadaq says okay, the president said
okay, you can bury him in the backyard.
So, Mustafa Ali Ismail's province said, Okay, actually
we can't do it because in Mu Hafiz,
the mayor,
would not allow us to do it, so
we can't.
So Sadas, you lost your mind,
I'm the highest authority in the land, I'm
telling you can do it, and you're telling
me that the mayor will not allow you
to do it? Khalas, you got it, you
will do it. Right? Husnil van, you think
well of people. So if you think well
of people,
what about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala? He is
better than all of your thoughts.
So we have to have And
the Prophet shalallahu alaihi wa sallam said,
The Prophet said,
don't ever pray for death, don't ask Allah
to take your life, don't make that dua.
He said: If you are a good person,
and Allah gives you more life, you will
do more hasanat, you will take more rewards,
it's better for you.
And if you are an evil person,
and Allah gives you more life, it's a
second chance so you can make tawbah, and
it's a good thing for you. Either way
it's a good thing, don't ask for death.
The Prophet says,
let let not anyone of you,
die except when they have You
have this good thinking
of Allah Subhanahu wa'ala and the Prophet
said that 3 days before he died.
So this is one of the last hadith,
that the Prophet said before he passed away.
And also in another hadith in Bukhary, the
prophet
So the Prophet said, let not any one
of you pray for death or wish for
death.
If you if your life is so difficult
and you have to say something, say, you
Allah,
give me a longer life if life is
good for me. And You Allah, if you
think life is bad for me, just take
my life. Okay, I want to go. This
is that dua you can say.
When Allah Subhanahu
Wa
Ta'ala
So
when
you
have
personal
one, you think that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
is better than your expectations.
He will take good care of you, He
will make things easier for you, He will
give you the foreword despite of all the
shortcomings,
and Allah
will give you jannah out of His grace,
not by His Justice. Because if it is
by His Justice, no one will go to
Jannah. If it is by His Grace, all
of us inshaAllah are going to Jannah.
So he's making a distinction between
thinking well of Allah
and delusion.
He said,
He said, It is very easy to make
a distinction between thinking well of Allah and
delusion.
Having delusional thoughts of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
It's a hussnulfan,
if this concept motivates you to be a
better person, to to always try to get
closer to Allah, to do good deeds, this
is hasnul done, thinking will of Allah. But
if it motivates you to be lazy,
to not to do your part, not to
take care of the things that you're supposed
to take care of, you do sayyaat
thinking
that no matter what you do Allah will
forgive you.
So this would make you lazy, do bad
things, never try to be close to Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala. This is delusion.
This is delusional thoughts. We'll continue in the
future inshallah my assistant is giving me a
hard time. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
to give us the best in this life,
and the best in the life to come.
