AI: Summary ©
So in surah alahman, surah number 55,
Allah
speaks about His favors upon us in dunya
and in akhirah.
And every single time Allah
mentions a blessing
or a favor in this dunya or in
Afla He says,
Which of your Lord's favors will you deny?
31 times.
31
times. 31 times.
And it's interesting because at the beginning of
the surah it talks about the creation, it
talks about dunya, favors, and this dunya.
Repeatedly.
Then the second half of the surah talks
about
So now, from the middle of the surah
it talks about So the first half is
dedicated to the favors in dunya,
and the second half is dedicated to Allah's
favors on us on the Day of Judgment.
So when it talks about the Day of
Judgment,
you'll say, I mentioned this a long time
ago,
repeated
7 times when it talks about the people
of Jahannam,
From Salafur Gulakkuma, you have Thakala, and so
on and so forth.
You are often Mujrimoon Abbasi Imam Fa'ukhadubin Nawwasu
Allah Hadi Jahannamul Latu. So when it talks
about the punishment of the Kuffar
and
Jahannam, is mentioned 7 times.
And the scholars say, this number 7 in
in this ayat corresponds
to the 7 Gates of Jahannam.
Then it talks about 2 groups of believers
on the day of judgment.
Then it talks about the people of Jannah
and it classifies them as 2 types.
The foremost or as sabihoon and the people
of the right, the people who like the
average believers.
Just like the next surah, surah 56,
surah Waqqah, it talks about exactly the same
topics,
about Allah's favors,
His ability to create, the people of Jannah,
the people of Jahannam, and the people of
Jahannam sorry, Jannah are 2 types.
The Sabi Khurim, the foremost,
and as how will you mean the people
of the right.
So in Surah Al Rahman, I mentioned it
when it talks about the people of Jahannam,
7 times it mentions
corresponding to the 7 Gates of Jahannam.
Then when it talks about the people of
Jannah,
the first group, the foremost,
you'll see
8 times
corresponding
to the gates of Jannah.
Then it talks about the second group of
believers, the people of the right, again
8 times corresponding to the gates of their
jannah.
So this is something unique about this surah.
But another thing which is unique about the
surah,
in the
So
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala when He talks about
death in surahuman,
He counts death as one of the favors
of Allah. How come?
Because I understand when it talks about our
creation,
the fact that He provides for us, the
fact that He taught us the Quran,
the fact that He created water for us,
and the heavens, and the earth, and all
that stuff. This is a favor, yes. But
how come that when Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
talks about
death,
He counts death as one of the favors.
Why?
When Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala talks about the
punishment of the kuffar in jahannam,
He counts this as a favor from Allah.
Why? So there is something here, something that
we need to understand.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is telling us,
when the good people die,
there is no more suffering for them, there
is no more pain for them, they don't
have to suffer in this dunya, they will
move to the mercy of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala, and there is no more injustice for
them.
But in this dunya,
So number 1, why death is counted as
a favor from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala?
Number 1, when the good people move to
the next life,
there's no suffering, no more pain for them,
no injustice for them. When they move to
the mercy of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, they
will not suffer anymore. Khala's suffering is behind
their back.
They are now in the mercy and the
rahmah of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, and there
will be no injustice for them.
Nabi
So in this authentic hadith in Bukhary and
Muslim,
Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wa sallam says, he saw
a janazah,
so the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam said,
this person is either relieved
or relieving,
relieved or relieving.
So the sahaba said, What is relieved or
relieving You Rasulullah? So the Prophet
said, Relieved is the believer.
If this person is good, no more suffering
for them They are relieved
of the pain and the suffering in dunya.
They don't have to worry about
injustice, they don't have to worry about any
tyrant or corrupt leader
abusing them or killing them to stay in
power, they don't have to worry about taxes,
they don't
worry about,
you know, having to work every day
to pay their bills and the prices are
always going up, the rent,
they don't have to worry about
heat in the summer, they don't have to
worry about snow in the wintertime.
Because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says,
They don't have to worry about any of
these things.
They don't have to worry about sickness,
they don't have to worry about going for
surgery, and all these things, nothing.
Relieved or relieving?
Relieving, the Prophet
says, this is the bad person, the wicked.
When they die, everything is relieved. And the
Prophet
said, The people will be relieved,
and
the neighborhood,
and everyone around them will be relieved, even
trees and animals and all the creation of
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will be relieved.
Why? Because the corruption of this wicked person
is affecting everyone,
So when they go, this is a good
time for everyone.
Even in the Quran Allah says
in Surah Al An'am, with the tyrant, and
the bad people, and the corrupt people,
they die. This is a nema for Allah,
from Allah that deserves our gratitude, that we
should thank Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that the
tyrants,
and the oppressors, and the bad people who
are abusing their nations, they are bad to
everyone.
When they leave,
this is very relieving to the good people
around them. You know in some Muslim countries,
if you walk with a beard in the
street,
you go to jail. If a sister
walks with hijab, she will be in trouble.
She can't go to school with hijab 1.
Wallahi, in the same country,
like before the revolution, especially in Tunisia,
there was this law,
you can't go just go to any Masjid
and pray taweeh, you have to register first,
and you have to have a card to
pray taweeh in Ramadan.
You can't just go to any masjid, you
have to go to the closest masjid
and the imam has to make sure before
salah, if someone doesn't have their card, taweeh
card with him, they go home.
Imagine in a Muslim country, Justin Trudeau cannot
do this in Canada,
a non Muslim country because we have rights
here, we have freedoms. SubhanAllah, in many Muslim
countries a lot of Muslims are abused.
The best in those nations, in our country's
back home, the best, the scholars,
the salihun,
they are either dead,
they are either in jail, they are either
in exile.
So good people are not welcome in Muslim
countries, whereas in non Muslim countries, at least
we have some freedom here, we have some
democracy.
Some, I'm not saying that this agenda on
earth, but at least you have some rights.
You are recognized as a human being,
but in some of our countries back home,
the fact that you are a human being
is questionable,
like we have no rights.
I mentioned before in one of the khutbas
that sometimes when I go to the park,
and the people are playing with their dogs,
and they're treating them nicely,
and I look at our people back home,
they are being shot in the streets, thrown
in jail for no reason,
So I say,
I wish we were treated like dogs in
our countries. Wallahi, this is very sad.
This is very sad, and this
is displeasing to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
So I think we know better, we have
Islam, so we should be in the front
when it comes
to dignity and respect to the human life
and so on and so forth. I don't
have to get into the details
how Muhammad SAW came as a mercy
to human beings, to animals,
even to non Muslims. He came as a
mercy for everyone.
Where is this mercy now among Muslims?
Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala will make it easy for us
inshaAllah.
So when the tyrants, and the corrupt people,
and the wicked die, this is relieving
to the creation of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
So this is number 1, that the believers
would be relieved,
and the tyrants
would be relieving when they go,
and there will need justice. Because in this
dunya,
as I mentioned in the Khutba one day,
look at George Bush, did he get justice
for what he had done to the Iraqi
people, and the corruption, and the people of
Afghanistan?
Wallahi, there is no justice here.
Even many Americans are saying exactly the same
thing, they're not even Muslim, and they believe
that what happened was a horrible mistake, it's
a war cry,
millions of people have been killed or at
least 100 of 1000.
Orphans,
and widows, and refugees all over the world.
The biggest number of refugees in the world
is Muslim.
The the the the biggest number of people
who are killed in the world are Muslim.
The biggest number of orphans and widows are
Muslim. Right?
You think about Tony Blair, you think about
all these horrible things, the drone attacks,
they attack weddings, and they attack innocent people,
and most of the time,
and these are not my words, these are
studies that are done in the US, in
Harvard, and Yale, and big schools, they say
that most of the people who are killed
in these attacks by drones, and invasions,
and unjustified wars are civilians.
They have nothing to do with nothing, they're
innocent people, women and children.
Who is gonna give them justice?
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. There's no justice in
this dunya, no justice.
So when we are taken to akhirah, when
we leave this world,
justice will be applied. So we move from
this world of injustice
to the next life of justice.
On a personal level,
someone is gonna steal your money and they
blame it on someone else, or they shoot
someone and they claim they are innocent,
and we have no clue.
Allah
Nothing will be hidden from Allah
And as I mentioned in the khutbah last
time,
things will come on the Day of Judgment
and they will be presented in front of
everyone,
big humiliation.
And believe me if you do something wrong
in dunya, and Allah
forgives you, you will not be questioned on
the day of judgment before people.
So let me repeat this again.
One of the great
favors from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is when
you do something wrong in duniya and He
covers you, no one knows.
If you make tauba in duniya, you ask
Allah for forgiveness, He will not expose you
on the Day of Judgment, no one will
know. It's gonna be between you and Him.
But without tawba,
Allah will ask you in front of everyone,
why did you steal that money? Why did
you commit zina? Why did you take a
bribe? In front of everyone. Big humiliation.
We're talking about the people from Adam all
the way to the Day of Judgment, billions
and billions of people, they will know what
you did.
So the best thing is, if you made
a mistake, try to correct it, you took
something from someone, give it back, make tawba,
and Allah will not put you in that
situation.
So we ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
Then when Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, of course,
when Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala speaks about the
punishment of kuffar in jahannam,
Allah counts this as a favor. Lam Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala, al-'adabil
kafirim,
Allah will be done in 5 minutes, InshaAllah.
So it's a name from Allah. Why?
In broad daylight.
Signs
signs
gas station, or feet of mortars, or kada,
favors.
2 miles, 3 miles down the road.
2, 3 miles,
accident,
the road is closed,
fire,
something hazardous,
that this is also a favor, so you
don't have to fall in that problem, and
get stuck on the highway.
This is the way the ulama explained it,
that when Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is warning
us against the punishment of the kuffar I
jahannam, it's a good thing.
And the easiest way to understand this favor
is when you are driving on the highway,
there are 2 types of signs,
good sign and a bad sign. Both are
good, both are a favor. How? So when
you're driving and you see this service
sign, it says that,
2, 3 miles down the road, there's a
gas station, there's Tim Hortons, there's this,
fruit sale or something, so it's a good
thing.
In the same way, a warning on the
highway is also a good thing. If there's
this big sign that tells you that 2,
3 miles down the road there's a fire,
there's an accident, you're gonna be stuck on
the highway, take a u-turn and go somewhere
else, it's a favor.
So you stay away from trouble.
So this is why Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
when he talks about the punishment of the
kuffar
as a warning to us,
so on the day of judgment you don't
say, I didn't know, no one told me.
So he gave you
a warning,
so
ahead of time, so now you know you
don't fall in the mistake, you stay away.
So the fact that he's opening your eyes,
so you don't be in the same place,
it's a favor from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Always keeping this in mind, that you have
Jannah in front of you, and you have
Jahannam in front of you, and the choice
is yours.
This is a great favor from Allah
and it's a big motivation, and I will
conclude with this story.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
If
you would like to go to Jannah, do
123.
If you would like to go to Jahannam,
123. It's up to you.
Free choice here. We're not like malaika, we're
not like animals, we're not like birds, no
free choice. We have free choice. You have
the choice to go here, you have the
choice to go there. It's up to you.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is not forcing you.
So when you keep Jannah and Jahanam in
your mind,
you think about this
will motivate you to do the right thing.
So this is a true story, and I'm
going to conclude with this inshallah. It's a
true story, happened in Saudi Arabia many years
ago.
So this brother was at the hospital,
he had a broken leg, and a broken
arm, and a broken neck. Mizdah, totally.
So he was at the hospital in his
room,
and the doctor noticed that people were coming
in and they were leaving,
and when they spoke to this guy with
a broken neck, arm, and leg,
they were saying sorry, we feel sorry for
you, we'll keep you in our guard. And
as soon as they leave,
they start to laugh. Oh. Like, how are
you doing?
So the doctor was confused, what is going
on here? If they feel sorry for him,
why do they crack jokes and they laugh
as soon as they leave?
So the doctor spoke to the patient,
the brother told the doctor, I'm gonna tell
you the story why people cry here and
they laugh as soon as they leave. He
said,
I love to read about Jannah and Jahannam,
and the description of both.
The punishment in Jahannam and the horrors inside,
I read about the pleasures in Jannah, the
niyam, and so on and so forth, the
Khurul Ayn, the rivers, and all the good
stuff.
So he said,
every night before I go to bed I
read about Jannah and Jahannam, tafkira, there's a
book by Kor Tobi, it talks about all
these things in detail.
So he said, it was a summer night,
it was very hot,
so I left my window open on the
2nd floor,
and my bed was by the window.
So I read about Jannah Jahanam before I
slept, and I, I had a big meal,
they have cups of good good stuff over
there. And I slept.
And because I had a very big meal,
it took time to digest so I started
to dream.
He was dead sleep, was asleep, so I
started to dream.
He told him the story, he said, I
had a dream
that night,
and
we after judgment and everything on the day
of judgment, because I was so overwhelmed
with reading about Jannah Jahannam. We were on
a bus, after judgment we're going to Jannah.
So the speed limit to Jannah, we're on
the highway to Jannah on the day of
Qiyamah,
this is in the dream,
the, you know, the speed was about 200
kilometers per hour. And the drivers the driver
was so slow, and we were yelling at
him, let's go man, we wanna go to
Jannah, we can't wait, let's go.
Faster, faster. So the speed limit was 200
kilometers
and the guy was going at 15 kilometers
per hour, very slow like a turtle.
And the people were yelling at him, Aapke
sad kohim kashile, what's your problem? Let's go
man, faster faster. And he was going very
slow.
They say okay, this guy is not listening.
250 miles to Jannah,
200
miles to Jannah,
150,
150 miles. Khalas they are almost there. After
a whole day of driving, Khalas, they're almost
there, and they're eager, they can't wait.
They see Jannah from a distance, Okay, let's
go!
Chalo, chalo, let's go! Faster, faster!
The guy goes in front of Jannah, and
he didn't stop, and he moved, and there
was a sign,
Jahanam is 2 miles, 200 miles ahead.
The speed limit was 200 kilometers, and the
guy was going at 500 kilometers, he was
going like,
fast.
And the people were yelling at him, wait,
what are you doing?
Slow down, we don't want to go. He
said, no, no, no,
no.
250 miles to Jahannam,
200 miles, 150,
150 miles. Now they see Jahannam from a
distance and the fire and and
the man.
So they started to hear,
to smell that like barbecue,
you see when you have a grill in
your backyard you smell, so they smell the
people being roasted in Jahannam,
and the fire, and the screaming,
and they were telling the God to slow
down and he was going fast like crazy.
Now they were getting close to the door
of Jahannam,
and
big problem, what are we gonna do? So
someone said, Okay, whoever has a window
next to them,
jump! This is the only way. And this
guy,
he jumped out of the window on the
2nd floor,
and he fell on his arm and his
leg, and he broke, he broke his arm,
his leg, and his neck. So it's a
true story.
This is why when people came to visit
him, oh we feel sorry for you, they
cry and as soon as they leave, oh
subhanAllah you see the bus? He jumped out
of the window, you see? SubhanAllah
and they left.
So the doctor said,
Wallahi I feel sorry for you and he
started to cry. And as soon as the
doctor left the room, he went to the
nurses, come come I'll tell you a story
and then started to laugh. Same thing.
We ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to give
us Jannah and to keep us away from
Jahannat.
