AI: Summary ©
I bear witness that there is none worthy
of our worship except Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
And I bear witness that Muhammad Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala, peace be upon him, is the seal
of the prophets and the final messenger to
all of humanity.
Whoever Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala guides there is
none to misguide and whoever Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala leaves astray there is none to guide.
So before we begin our khutbah, InshaAllah, the
schools started,
this week.
So we ask Allah
to make it a successful year for the
students. And we ask Allah
to bless the families. And we ask Allah
to reward, the teachers and those in charge
of the students, inshallah.
So,
these days we commemorate
the last Hajj Actually, it was the first
Hajj and the last Hajj of the Prophet
and the final public speech that the Prophet
gave at the Hajj, which is Hajjatilwada'a,
and the, Khutbatilwada'a,
the final Khutbah, public Khutbah at the Hajj
that he gave.
Before we talk about the Khutbah, and what
we can learn,
inshaAllah, from the Khutbah, and how to make
it relevant to our time today.
A few things. Number 1,
the Prophet
and An Nabi
So when the Prophet
left Mecca,
10 years earlier, because the Prophet
did Hajj on the 10th year of hijrah,
10 years earlier, the Prophet
left Mecca at night
with Abu
Bakr
Now, 10 years later,
those who are able to do the Hajj
with the Prophet
according to the books of, Sira and the
books of Hadith, the number is over a
140,000.
Those who were able to make the Hajj,
not every Muslim, those who were able to
go. Right? So this shows you,
with hard work and dedication to the mission,
how many people accepted the message of the
Prophet
and they were with him when he was
doing the Hajj.
So when the Prophet SAW was giving
this Khubba, the Prophet SAW
said, O people,
O humanity, he was talking to everyone.
So this Khubba is not only for those
who were there at the time of the
Prophet
This is for all Muslims,
and all humanity in general. Because the concepts,
and the teachings, and the values ingrained in
this Khutba is for everyone.
So, in this Khutba, the Prophet SAWS talks
about the rights of Allah, and the rights
of the people, the rights of the husbands
and the wives,
equality between human beings, and so on and
so forth. And these are universal values, that
everyone
can learn from.
So the Prophet was talking to humanity in
general.
The third observation
about this Hajj of the Prophet
The Prophet
could have made Hajj the previous year, and
the previous year.
But the Prophet
chose to make Hajj one time.
One time.
Why? Because the Prophet
is showing us by example,
that what is further in Islam is to
do Hajj once.
If Allah gives you more, you can go,
but it is not an obligation. The second
one, the third one is not an obligation.
Hajjatil Islam is the first one.
And this is why, when the Prophet
did, the Hajj jaaarajjurulillnabius
salam fakharirasuul
and ahorjukulahaan,
should we make Hajj every year? And the
Prophet
pretended that he didn't hear a question, and
the man repeated the question 3 times.
Then the Prophet
said: Why do you make it difficult for
yourself? Just one time, khalas, no problem.
If Allah gives you more, no problem. Because
if I say you have to make Hajj
every year, it would have been impossible for
most Muslims to go a second time or
a third time. So the Prophet
made it once,
not twice or three times. This is why
many scholars say, if you were able to
do Hajj once,
Hajj al Islam, and Allah gave you money,
maybe you should use that money for the
2nd, or the 3rd, or the 10th Hajj.
I know people who walk into the Hajj
17 times, which is good.
But it would have been better if you
use the money
to pay the loans, that's adiyoon al al
madin. To help those who are in debt,
up to their ears.
They're getting a foreclosure, they're going to jail.
Help them! Pay them! Pay their loans!
Help the orphans! There are so many orphans
and widows in the Muslim world. Help them!
Give them food, and medicine, and shelter.
Help those who are desperate to get married.
Give them money, help them!
I would think, according to the majority of
the scholars of Islam, helping those in debt,
the orphans, the widows, the needy, the homeless,
is more important than the 10th,
or the second, or the third Hajj. Yes,
the first one is very important, it's a
farq, but after that, you can help other
people. And Allah will give you the reward
inshaAllah for the Hajj, by intention.
So the Prophet
was talking to everyone in general, and the
Prophet
was making things easy for people. And this
is something that Ulema
have to learn from.
So people would come to the Prophet when
he was doing the Hajj, and they'd say,
You Rasulullah, I made a mistake,
I did this before this. You know, you
have to do things in order, but I
did this before this, or I did this,
and instead of this, what should I do?
And the Prophet
would say, no problem. Qima salan hay suraniyoo
mafishmashkar hayfarwala harash Allah will forgive you, no
problem. He was making things hidden for people,
and he was telling the Sahaba when he
was sending them as governors and mayors and,
Khuba'athen,
he would tell them,
Make things easy for people, don't make things
difficult for the people,
and give good news, and don't make people
miserable.
Because Islam is all about making you,
live a decent life, a good life, alhamdulillah
in this life. Don't make it difficult for
people.
I gave the example one time of,
one of the brothers, he memorized Quran. Right?
He memorized Quran. He's not a scholar or
anything.
In a remote village in one Muslim country.
Right? So one time, you know, people told
him, okay, lead salah, he started to lead
salah, after some time,
he started to teach. They said, you are
leading salah, you are Khujaat al Islam, Nur
Zaman, make salah.
Teach from the book. So what he did,
he used to open a book of fiqh,
and he would teach without the proper knowledge.
If you memorize the Quran, this does not
make you a scholar of Islam.
So he started to teach, and it was
one time before,
like Eid ul Adhaqurbani,
he was teaching about Qurbani,
and yes, in the books of Firk, like
Firk Al Hafi, it says, It's recommended to
do wudu for the Korbani, so he thought
that you should do wudu for the animal
itself. Wallahi, it's a true story. So he
told people you have to untie feet the
legs and the of the animal. So a
guy came from the back, and he said,
I was ignorant last year, I don't have
your knowledge, may Allah reward you. What about
my animal that I offered last year? Is
it acceptable? He said, if you didn't do
udu, it's najasa, it's not acceptable, acceptable, impure.
He was making things difficult for people because
he didn't have the knowledge.
And so on and so forth, we get
questions about, you know, people making fatwa about
divorce, about marriage, about this, about that, about
zakah,
without knowledge, and they make people miserable.
And Islam makes your life easy, people make
it difficult. And you think this is Islam?
No. The prophet When
the prophet
was given the option between one thing that
is easy, and the other that is difficult,
he would go for the easy one, as
long as it is not haram. He was
making people's lives easy.
So, this is basically,
like an observation about some of the things
related to the Khutbah of the Prophet
for Hajjatulwada,
and the Prophet
as we know, he started the Khutbah by
saying:
He started off by saying, Oh, people listen,
attentively to what I'm going to say, because
I'm not sure if I will see you
again.
The Hajj,
or ever in the future. Because the Prophet
passed away 3 months after, so he didn't
see them again.
The Prophet
felt that he was going to die, and
this is why he gave this comprehensive universal
to,
to the Muslims and humanity
in general.
The same year, when the Prophet
So the Prophet
felt that he was going to die that
year.
So he was sending Mu'adhir, the law, Abu,
off to Yemen as a judge, as a
teacher.
He told him, in this authentic hadith, in
Musa al Ahmad Ahmadiyya Mu'ad,
Most likely,
we will never meet again. This is the
last time you will see me, and when
you come back, you will pass by my
grave and my masjid. So Mu'adh
started to cry.
So the Prophet
felt that his time was coming, and we
know from the hadith that the Prophet passed
away 3 months after Khutbat al Wadah. So
the Prophet
made it very clear for them, you have
to listen carefully to what I say, because
I'm not going to repeat it. This is
the last time.
Then the Prophet
spoke about
the sanctity, or the sacredness of the blood
of people, and their wealth and dignity.
He said, all mankind,
the violation of the rights of people in
terms of their blood, their honor, and their
money,
is haram until you meet Allah
And, subhanAllah, when you look at the all
the values encapsulated in the Khutbah of the
Prophet
Wallahi, if people listen to what the Prophet
had to say in this Khutbah, there would
be no suffering, no misery, in the Muslim
world, and in the world in general.
And you see the bloodshed!
In the Hadith,
another Hadith, the Prophet
said,
what means that the blood of a Muslim
is more sacred, more holy, in the sight
of Allah
than the Kaaba itself.
Than the Kaaba itself, the blood of a
Muslim, is so precious in the eyes of
Allah
Now you see Muslims
in Syria, in Iraq, and other places killing
other Muslims and saying takbir Allahu Akbar. They're
excited.
They are doing something terrible in the eyes
of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, and they are
making takbir. I don't know what they are
making takbir for.
Right? So the violation of the people's blood
and dignity and and their money, taking their
money without,
without a right. And the Prophet
is speaking about Riba, he's talking about,
killing people, and so on and so forth
in this hadith.
When you look, when you go around,
SubhanAllah, the Prophet
says in the hadith,
about the size of the Day of Judgement,
people will be killed in the 100 of
1,000, in big numbers.
And those who kill,
they have no clue
why they are killing people. They just bid
the order to shoot, so they shoot.
And those who are killed,
they have no clue why they are being
killed. No clue whatsoever. And this is mentioned
in the hadith of the Prophet
and it is true for our time. 100
of 1000 of Muslims die every year, and
they don't know why.
Someone
detonates a bomb, they die. Drone attacks, unjustified
wars in Iraq and other places. People don't
know for what? For what reason?
Weapons of mass destruction? You said they don't
have them, and you apologize.
Over a 1000000 people died,
millions of people have been displaced or wounded,
orphans everywhere, widows. Okay. What is next? Right?
So you shed so much blood, you destroyed
so many,
lives, and now you're apologizing. I'm talking about
Tony Blair and and George Bush, nowhere to
be found. He didn't even apologize. Right?
So people don't know why they are being
killed, and those who kill, they don't know
why they are killing people. In the Muslim
world.
And and SubhanAllah,
blood people have been,
desensitized.
When they see the blood, they don't feel,
you know, the the the violation.
Few years ago,
2012,
there was a soccer game in Egypt.
Soccer game in Egypt. 2012.
Over 70 people were killed in a soccer
game. Do you know how many people were
killed in Nazwa Bator? You know, when we
read history and the Seerah of the Prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, 70 from the kuffar
were killed, a few from the sahaba. So
the number of people who were killed in
a soccer game in a Muslim country
is probably equal to or more than the
people who were killed in Hazwag Batr. Right?
And people have no, no feeling of guilt.
It's okay, because it happens every day. No
problem.
Someone today, someone yesterday, someone tomorrow what is
the big deal?
And SubhanAllah, I say this, and I hope
that I'm not gonna offend anyone's feelings.
When you walk around,
around this time, when the incident happened in
Egypt, and other places, in Yemen, in Libya,
in Syria, around Palestine,
I walk around, when I go to the
park, we play soccer, I go out with
the kids, and I see how people treat
their dogs in the park, you know, they
kiss them, they hug them, and stuff, and
I see all people being killed in the
streets over there, and I said,
I wish we were treated like dogs in
our countries, we will live a good life.
I know this is the sad reality. It
breaks my heart, my heart is bleeding, but
this is the sad reality.
There is no
regard for human dignity, for human rights.
The Prophet
criticized someone from the Sahaba,
because he burned,
ants.
Samam, there was like the house of the
ants,
and the Sahaba decided to burn them, and
the Prophet SAWHANANAN
Why did you burn them? They didn't do
nothing. They praised Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, they
make dua'a to Allah, they pray, why did
you kill an innocent soul? Ants.
Ants.
We studied in the books of Firk, like
jihad,
in the Haafi Mahab, a long time ago,
that if, like, Muslims and non Muslims are
are fighting together, like, in a battlefield,
well, they are fighting like the Crusaders, or
something. There is a fight between Muslims and
non Muslims. A legitimate war. Like, they attacked
you, and you defend yourself.
So, in the books of faith, they say
if the attackers,
the enemies, they are attacking you, they take
their own women,
their own children, as a human shield, you
are not allowed to fight,
because you will kill innocent people. Although they
took their own women and children,
now people go and they kill innocent Muslims,
and innocent non Muslims, they kill women, children,
they don't care. And this is totally against
the teachings of Islam.
You fight only in self defense to protect
yourself, but you don't go out of your
way and kill innocent people, this is not
acceptable. And this is what the Prophet
touched on in this, his final Khutbah, about
the sanctity
of the human life,
and the dignity and the honor of the
people.
If you look at the 20th century, this
is probably
the bloodiest
century in the human,
history. Because if you look at the last
100 years,
they say statistically
more people have been killed
in this time than probably,
the risk of human history. And of course,
some exceptions can be made, like the First
Nation, in Australia, in the Americas, and so
on and so forth.
But blood being shed in the millions!
World War I, World War II, over a
100,000,000
deaths! A 100 a 1000000 people were killed!
Right? So this shows you that if people
listened to what the Prophet
has to say, things would have been much
easier and better for everyone.
And SubhanAllah, when you hear about Badr and
Uhud and Al Khandat and this and that,
you hear about all the wars that were
fought by the Prophet
and if you watch Fox News, they say,
Oh, he was a man of war, he
was killing people and stuff.
You know, the ulama,
when they calculated all the people who were
killing in all were killed in all the
wars, fought by the Prophet
in Badrin, Uhud Al Khanda,
Fatimaqa, and so on and so forth. In
9 years of fighting,
the total number of people who were killed
at the time of the Prophet
from among Muslims and non Muslims is 400.
400 people in 9 or 10 years of
fighting.
400 people,
almost
200 Muslims, and 200 from the Kuffa, from
the people of Makkah, and so on and
so forth. Because in most battles,
what happens,
the people of Makkah will run away, no
one dies, So one for Muslims, 0 for
the Kuffar.
In some battles,
1 Muslim dies, 5 non Muslims or people
of Makkah die, 1 for the Muslims, 0
for the Kuffar, and so on and so
forth.
Very few number,
people were killed in that time. 400 people
in 10 years!
That's probably more than the number of people
who die every day,
on the highways in North America. It's a
very small number.
Because the Prophet made it very clear, you
attack only those who attack you.
You don't carpet bomb innocent people. Hiroshima, Nakasaki,
250,000 in a few minutes.
This is not acceptable in Islam.
We ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to make
it easy for humanity, Ameen Ameen. The Prophet
SAW Alaihi Wasallam then talk about equality between
all people.
So the prophet
then spoke about equality between humanity.
We honor the children of Adam in general.
Doesn't matter what color you are, what background,
what job you have, you are honored in
the sight of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. So
the Prophet SAWHANahu Wa Ta'ala said, All humanity,
your Lord is 1, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
And your ancestry,
Adam and Eve, is 1. You come from
the same source, Adam and Eve.
There is no preference or advantage for an
Arab over an Arab, or a white over
a black, except by Taqwa.
Then the Prophet
said in another Hadith,
In Allah Ta'ala, Laaamburu ilaasuwariqumuarsamikum.
Balakin yamduwiliqumuwalaqumu
aamalikum. Allah does not judge you
by how good you look, or how handsome
or tall, or big muscles you have. Allah
judges you by the sincerity of your actions,
and the purity of your heart. This is
what matters before Allah
Taqwa, this is what makes a difference, how
good you are to people.
You pray, you fast, this is good, alhamdulillah,
but how you treat people.
So color doesn't matter in the sight of
Allah
Islam is colorblind. We are all equal before
Allah
And if you looked,
You see Abu Bakr Omer of Man Ali
the Great Sahaba from Arabia,
from Asia.
Then you see Safwa,
you see Salman,
El Farisi the Persian.
You see Sohayb, the Roman.
You see Maryyat Kaptiya the Copt, from Egypt.
So people were from all over the world,
and they had respect for one another. Doesn't
matter if you came from, you know, a
low class, or a high class, you are
equal in the sight of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'la.
When it was time to make Adan,
the Prophet
didn't call upon an Arab, to make Adan.
He called upon Bilal Radillan, a black man
from Africa. He used to be a slave,
but he became a master with Islam.
When he fetched Himakkah and the narrations, he
climbed the Kaaba, he went all the way
on top of the Kaaba, he made a
dam. You see what honor that Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala gave him. In the Quran,
Lukman,
African man, is honored in the Quran. A
Surah is named after him.
So people when they read the Quran, Yama
Tabi'al Du Ujuhu and Wataswad Du Ujuhu It
doesn't talk about black and white. This is
what people think when the Quran talks about
on the Day of Judgment.
Some faces will be white, some faces will
be black. This is a mistranslation.
This is a mistranslation.
It talks about faces becoming bright, and faces
becoming gloomy. Because on the Day of Judgment,
Bilal,
who was an African, a black man, on
the Day of Judgment his face will be
black, but his face will be bright.
Abu Jahl, he was an Arab, if you
read his description, he was a white man.
But on the Day of Judgment his face
will be white, but gloomy.
In Suratah, it will be Zukah, his face
will be blue,
because of all the thirst and the horror
he will see on the Day of Judgment.
So the ethnicity, the color is not recognized
in Islam. You are respected for who you
are, you're respected for your actions, not for
your color.
At the end of the day,
if you go to the market, the Superstore,
or you go to Walmart, to FreshCo, and
they have the Apple section,
you have red apples, you have Gala apples,
you have yellow, green apples. It is called
apples there. You see the sign it says
apples.
Doesn't matter what color, you are equal before
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala It is the actions
that makes a difference in the sign of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
This evil
racism,
that people suffered from in North America,
in Muslim countries, we still have it. This
is what they say the elephant in the
room. Those who travel to certain Muslim countries,
they know,
if you apply for a job,
you'll get respect based on your color.
Those who have lighter skin,
inshallah, they will get a better job, they
will get a bit of pay, those with
a darker skin, they will not get, you
know, the same treatment. This is for a
fact.
Try it, and people know, those who have
been to certain countries, they know this for
a fact.
Right? So, again, in Islam, Islam is called
blind. We're all equal before Allah
The Prophet SAW
said, treat women with dignity and honor.
They have rights on you, and you have
rights on them.
When you read in the Qur'a where Allah
speaks about men and women,
Allah
makes sure that He talks about males and
females.
If you go to Surah Azab, Surah 33,
in the Muslimina wa Muslimat 1 mumineena and
muminaat gadda gadda ilalhaytulayat
fasdajabalalamrabbuhum
anilahuduyaamalalamalalaminakum
min dakarinaawuntha
manaamilasaliham
min dakarinaawuntha
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala when he talks
in the Quran, he always talks about males
and females.
Female Muslims and male Muslims. Female believers and
male believers. Because they are equal before Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
They have the same rights and the same
obligations.
Yes, they have different functions in life,
but before Allah, if you pray with Khushur,
and your wife prays with Khushur, do you
get more rewards?
No! They get equal reward.
If you fast properly in Ramadan, and your
wife fasts in Ramadan, do you get more
reward, you know, than your husband or your
wife? Of course not! You get an equal
reward.
And the same is also true in the
Quran for punishment. If someone does something wrong,
a man and a woman did something wrong,
like in the case of Zina or Sarika,
they give the same punishment.
Same punishments apply to Bahu because they are
equal before Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
So the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam talks about
riots and obligations.
So I've been doing
counseling for so many years,
and I have seen families collapse, and divorces
happen.
And insha'Allah, maybe one time or 2 Khutba's,
I'll give a Khutba about the top ten
reasons
why marriages fall apart. There are so many
reasons why families collapse.
I've noticed the top two reasons: number 1:
people always ask for their rights, when it
comes to their obligations, they don't care.
Right?
And number 2: the priorities are messed up.
Like,
for some families the priority is not to
start a good Muslim family,
raise good Muslim children,
live a decent life in this world, then
eventually go to Jannah together.
I know this is bad news for some
of the brothers that when I say that
InshaAllah your wife will be with you in
Dunya, then she will go with you to
Jannah. They will say La'am.
Go with you to Jannah.
I thought once I die I'll be free.
No. She will be with you to Jannah
InshaAllah.
Uh-oh.
No. But again, rights and obligations.
Islam is fair. You fulfill your rights, you
take your obligations, and so on and so
forth. And the Prophet
made it very clear.
They have rights on you, and you have
rights on them. It's about fairness. So We
ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to make it
easy for us and to give us the
benefit of this Khud Barameel Ameer Assalamu Alaikum
At the end, the Prophet SAWS
said, O people,
I left for you something that if you
follow, we will never be lost, you will
never go astray. The Quran and the Sunnah
of the Prophet SAWS
Then he said,
Allah will ask you about me on the
Day of Judgment. What will you say? They
will say, we bear witness that you conveyed
the message, and you gave us the knowledge
of Islam, may Allah reward you. And the
Prophet
said, You Allah, bear witness that I deliver
the message. And after this, this Ayah was
revealed,
This
Ayah, from Surah Al Maidah was revealed, This
day,
I have perfected My favor upon you, and
I have completed Islam for you, and I
have been satisfied with Islam as your way
of life. And as I said, the Prophet
passed away
a few, 3 months after this. So we
ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to give us
the beneficial knowledge, and to help us come
back to Islam the right way. I mean
I mean, well, Insha'Allah, I'm gonna conclude with
a few announcements. Number 1, Insha'Allah,
Eid ul Haqha will be on Monday.
The Turkish Khutba, the Turkish service will be
at 8 in the morning. The English service
and Khutba will be at 10. So the
Turkish one will be at 8, and the
English one will be at 10, inshaAllah.
And number 2, Korbani is also,
the money for Korbani is received downstairs, InshaAllah.
You can talk to brother
in the reception. Each Korbani is a $150,
and it will be sent to Muslim countries,
InshaAllah.
And again, make sure InshaAllah for Eid, you
make it a special time for your kids
and family.
Because as I always say, when our kids
go to the public school,
they have holidays here almost every week.
Valentine's,
Christmas, Halloween,
this, that, and so on and so forth.
So we need to make sure that the
2 Eid we have, Eid Wulfil and Eid
Wulfilatah, are enjoyable for our kids.
They go out, they play, they get, you
know, gifts, and so on and so forth.
So make it a special time, take an
Eid off, and take them out, and enjoy
the Eid with them. We ask Allah
to make it an enjoyable Eid, and to
bless us during this time. InshaAllah, don't forget
to fast on the day of Arafah, which
will be on Sunday, and the prophet said,
it will make up for all the small
sins committed in the past year and the
coming year. We ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
to forgive all our sins, and give us
sincerity in everything we say and say,
