And I've been witness that Muhammad, salallahu alayhi
wasalam, is the seal of the prophets and
the final messenger
to all of humanity.
Whomever Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, guides,
there's none to misguide. And whomever Allah, Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala, leaves to go astray,
So a few days ago, the New Year
began,
and this marks the Hijra of the prophet,
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
1434
years ago, when the prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam, left Mecca and he went to Madinah
to start the Muslim state.
So in our time, hijrah because every one
of us has to make hijrah in their
lives. So Hijra in our time means that
you leave the Haram
and get away from the Haram and do
the Haram. And this is what Allah the
prophet says in the that the Muslim is
the one from whose hands and tongues people
are safe.
And the one who makes hijrah is the
one who leaves the Haram and goes to
the Haram. So this is what is required
of you. If you do something wrong, something
against the Sharia, something against Islam, if you
quit it, then this is your hijrah.
So today, inshallah, very briefly, we'll touch on
some of the examples, some of the lessons
that all of us can learn today from
the Hijra of the prophet SAWS. And
then that's it.
So the first lesson is to do your
best and put your trust in Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala.
We read in the books of Surah that
when the Sahaba of the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam left before him, he made sure
that all Muslims left before him to Madinah
because of all the persecution in Mecca.
Then the prophet
started to plan for his own Hijra.
He got Abu Bakr,
the 2 camels.
He took care of who is gonna guide
the way, Abu Allah,
who was not a Muslim, by the way.
And who is gonna provide food, who is
gonna do this, who is gonna do that,
and the time. So everything was planned precisely
ahead of time.
So this is how the prophet, lived
his life. He was always planning. He had
a vision, and he was always thinking ahead
of time. There's plans for everything. He doesn't
give a chance.
So he knew who was going to do
what and when. We read in other hadith
that a man came to the prophet
and said,
when I come to salah,
should I leave my camel outside loose, or
should I tie it and come to the
salah? So the prophet,
of course, as reported in Sayyid Al Midi,
he said, tie your camel then come to
salah.
So if you come to the prayer,
don't leave your car running outside in the
street, and, don't leave your keys in the
car. Because believe me, by the time you
finish your car will be in Vancouver.
So you have to put your trust in
Allah. Do your best, then Allah
will take care of the rest.
So the second lesson we learned from the
prophet
is he had a clear vision of what
he was going to do, and he put
his priorities in order.
So for a Muslim,
you have priorities in life, and you have
to have a vision what you plan to
do in 5 years, in 10 years, and
also you have to put your priorities in
order. Most of the time,
when a person or a society or even
a country has a problem, it means one
thing to me, that the priorities are not
involved.
So the priority for Muslims was to to
live a decent life
and to follow the Quran and the sunnah,
to live the deen, to to be able
to practice the religion.
Getting a beautiful, a good job was not
the priority for them.
Buying the biggest house in town or the
fanciest car in town was not their biggest
priority in life. Maybe this is priority number
10 or 15,
but living Islam and living by Islam was
their priority. This is why they left everything
behind them
in Mecca, and they left to Madinah. They
left their money. They left their homes, their
land, and everything,
and they fled to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
and they went to Madina, and they established
themselves.
So the priority for every one of us
is to prepare yourself
to the next life
because
nobody,
Yani, expects to live in this life forever.
You live for a 1000 years, eventually, you
will leave this life, this temporary life, and
go to the next life.
So the priority is to use this dunya
to make it easy for you in the
next life. So this life is a plantation
for the next life. This is your priority.
And Hassan al Fazdi, rakamalullah, was asked
about happiness in this life and the priority
in this life. He said, I'm happy in
my life because I do 3 things.
Number 1, I know for sure that my
risk is coming to me, and no one
is going to take my risk, so I
put my heart at peace.
Number 2, I know that no one is
going to do my work, salah, and so
on and so forth, so I got busy
with that. I don't have time to back
my people and to talk ill about other
people. And number 3, I know that death
is coming to give me any time
sooner or later, so I got ready for
after the next life. So always keep these
things in your mind. No one is going
to take your list. No one is going
to do your work in this dunya,
and death is right there ready to take
everybody's life. Somebody today, there is a Janazah
today, and there is a Janazah tomorrow as
well after the doctor. Nobody knows who is
next.
So what is required of you in this
life is to do the requirements, the obligations
that Allah
has made obligatory
for you.
Don't waste your time.
So Allah
says in Hadith, my servants will never get
close to me with anything except with what
I have made obligatory on them. Salah,
Hajj, Zakat, fasting, and so on and so
forth.
So, again, Allah
has obligated you to do certain things in
life, so you have to stick to them.
And as we said,
Allah,
you can never get close to him with
anything except with what he has made obligatory
in you, like salah and different.
They said there was this king,
and he had 3 assistants.
So he told him, I want every one
of you to go to the superstore
and take your car and fill it with
food.
Nothing but food. So the first one, he
listened and obeyed.
He filled it with food.
Cans, biscuits, fruits, vegetables, everything.
And the second one, he said, I don't
think the king is going to eat that
food because he already has cooks and everything
in the palace. He doesn't need but you
know what?
Just give it,
50.50 chance. I'm gonna fill half food and
have something else. Choose a belt, you know,
bag, anything else. Choose a belt, you know,
you know, bag, anything else.
Toothpaste, all that stuff.
Ben Adir,
clinics, all that stuff. And the third one
he said,
what is this king talking about? He's not
gonna eat, that food anyway. You know what?
I'm gonna fill it with shoes, with clothes,
toothpaste,
glasses, all that stuff. No food because he's
not gonna eat it anyway. And when when
they went back to the king, he told
him. He told the guards,
lock everyone of them up in a room
and let them eat all the stuff they
got for a whole month. Of course, the
first one ate all the food in that
month, and he was safe because he listened
and obeyed.
The second one,
he ate half of the food in 2,
3 weeks, and the rest of the time
that that remaining week, he couldn't find anything
to eat. He ended up eating the shoes
and the belt and the toothpaste and all
that stuff. By the time they got him
out, he almost died. He was he starved.
He was starving at that time. But he
survived, alhamdulillah.
But for the third one, he didn't find
anything to eat because he followed his own
brains. He didn't listen, and he didn't obey.
So the 1st week, he ate all the
bills and all the shoes and all the
toothpaste and all that stuff, so he died
after 2 weeks.
The second one is the person who mixes
up good deeds with bad deeds. So as
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says in Surah Al
Tawba, they have a 5050 chance, and eventually,
by the grace of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
they will make it to Jannah.
But the third one are those who only
follow their heads, and they they disobey Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala all the time, and they
think they are righteous ones, and all their
actions are corrupted. That's Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
So the 3rd lesson is you have to
give the trust back to its rightful owner.
You read in the sunnah that, of course,
the people of Mecca Abuja and Abu Lahab
and Abu Sufyan before Islam, they were buddies.
They were together all the time. But if
someone
of them had something precious and they needed
to put it a trust with someone,
they didn't trust each other. So what they
did, they always gave the amaanah to the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. Although they had
fights with him all the time.
But he is the trustworthy.
So they kept their trust with the prophet
When
the prophet
had to leave Mecca and go to Medina,
he made sure
that he trusted Ali ibn Abi Khali radiAllahu
anhu to return the trust to
the
people.
He
didn't
take
all
the
money
and
all
the
gold
with
him
to.
So sometimes and I've seen this with my
own eyes. You give someone something as a
trust, then at some point you have a
disagreement
with them, and they tell you, you know
what? I'm not giving you back your money.
I'm gonna hit your pocket,
a big time. You know? This is something
and this is something else.
The
prophet
says, give the trust back
to those who trust you and don't betray
those who betray you.
If people are bad to you, it doesn't
mean you should be bad to them.
So Allah
says, don't let
your disagreement
or hatred to someone
make you unjust to them. This is something
else. They are not an example to you.
You should set an example to them of
how to deal decently and Islamically.
So number 4, and this is the last
one for today, the prophet
did dua all the time.
And this is our responsibility
in this society.
We're all here only to make money and
to buy big cars and be home. Make
dua
even by giving a pamphlet to someone. If
you are not able to make dua because
you don't have time or you don't have
the resources,
at least support the dua efforts in the
masjid and in the community.
We read in the books of
dua while he was on the way to
Madinah.
It says in the books of that he
met a man by the name of Uraida
al Islami, and some of his people, he
made dua to them, and they accepted Islam
on this flood. Although
he was running away
from Mecca, and people were trying to catch
him and and attack him, but still he
had time, a few minutes to make dawah.
Also, in another
story in the books of Sira, the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam came across 2 thieves.
Chores.
So he made dua to them, and they
accepted Islam. And the prophet said, what are
your names? They said, where are they,
You Ali, disgraced ones. This is what people
call us. So the prophet
He accepted Islam several years back, and he
is one of the most active people in
dawah.
So he said, they are very active in
dawah and wellness. So they go to the
streets, and they start to hand out pamphlets.
So he said, I came across this guy
and
he wore 3 things,
sunglasses,
a pair of shoes, and shorts.
That's it. And he said, this guy was
covered.
Yeah. And it was tattoos from head to
toe. Everything. He was the 2 to look.
He said, well, when I saw him, I
felt like he was the shaitan.
Terrible.
So he told the brother, well, hey, get
away from this guy. He's gonna waste our
time, you know. We don't have time for
this.
Another
brother from the group, he said he gave
that guy he gave him a pamphlet, and
he read that pamphlet in a few minutes,
and he accepted Islam on the spot.
So always put your trust in Allah
and do your best, and Allah
will take care of the rest. That's Allah
