So a few days ago we received this
special guest the month of Ramadan
and tomorrow is the last day, read inshaAllah
is Sunday we talk in the announcements about
the times for salah and everything But subhanAllah,
as you can see the month went so
fast
and
this is probably one of the best ramadan's
I've ever seen for different reasons.
But
has been a blessed month, and I ask
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to accept our in
this month, our fasting and our salah and
zakat and qiyam and salatah Amin al bar'alimin.
So now close to the end of the
month,
everyone is excited, everyone is happy.
Some of us are happy because of tawfiqullah,
they were able to get close to Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to get their sins forgiven,
to raise their rank with Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala
and to maximize their Hasanat in this month.
So this is one group of us. Another
group they are dancing in the street they
are very happy that the month is over
there's no more fasting
they can drink coffee, they can smoke anytime,
they don't have to wake up for tarawihihaqiyam
or Fashr and so on and so forth.
And my answer to them
you shouldn't be excited because you don't know
if you're if your Ibadah in Ramadan was
actually accepted or it was rejected you shouldn't
be dancing in the street you should always
ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to accept your
Ibadah
and you try
to benefit from whatever we learned in the
school of Ramadan after Ramadan Be'lai Tal.
So and this is the topic for today
InshaAllah a few things that we learned from
the school of Ramadan
4 InshaAllah to be exact to make it
short and this is what we come out
from Ramadan with.
The first thing, the first observation they have
regarding the month of Ramadan,
I mentioned last night when I spoke about
the name of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and
Wadud
the All Loving,
the one about love,
is that there are certain types of people
in the Quran that Allah says that He
loves.
And SubhanAllah, when you look at these people
and these qualities that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
loves in us, they exist in the month
of Ramadan.
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is basically telling
us I'm giving you an opportunity in the
month of Ramadan
so I can love you.
So for example Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says,
Allah loves the people of Taqwa. And what
is the purpose of Ramadan anyway?
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says that the
whole purpose of fasting in Ramadan
is to generate Taqwa on you, in you
so Allah will love you. So He's giving
you the key if you want Allah to
love you, you have to have Taqwa.
And Taqwa, it's a long discussion, we need
2 or 3 hudbahs by themselves. Taqwa basically
means to be mindful of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala in everything.
Your heart, your body, there will be synchronization
between both.
Your secrets, your public, everything
in according
is done in accordance with the Quran and
the Sunnah of the Prophet
So there is this agreement inside and outside.
Yes, in Ramadan when I was fasting, I
was praying one time, I was doing Ibadah
trying to protect my Hasina.
So what what happens after Ramadan? The Taqwa
is gone, you have no Taqwa no more,
and I always tell people
If you worship Ramadan,
Ramadan will die tomorrow.
Tomorrow is the last day, it's giving its
last breath. But if you worship Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala, Allah never dies, He is the
eternal. So if you have taqwa in the
month of Ramadan, this is something you should
carry on after the month of Ramadan.
Cause some people mash Allah, they're excited in
Ramadan, they pray one time.
After Ramadan, no namaz.
I thought you were praying to Allah? So
what happened after Ramadan? Allah is still there,
you didn't go anywhere,
what happened? You know, some sisters they wear
hijab in Ramadan after Ramadan. No hijab, so
what happened? Okay?
Safi if we Ali they don't smoke in
Ramadan after Ramadan they do the same thing
so you have to keep this tawqa all
year long right? So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
is giving us a proof in the month
of Ramadan
that you are able to do it after.
What is the proof? You did it in
Ramadan. So we can do it all year
long. So this is something you need to
keep on this tabwa after Ramadan Insha'Allah. There's
this true story that happened with
a Muslim business person. It's a true story,
it was told to me by someone who
was was there and he saw this story.
A Muslim business brother,
he went to China
with some of his friends, they are doing
business to buy something there from China, things
are cheaper, the labor is cheaper, so they
bring it here, they make good profit.
So they went there
to, you know, a different city in China
that was their first visit, so they were
hosted
by their Chinese counterparts.
So they offered them food then they said
okay, no we don't eat it is not
zabiha haram, we can eat. We have to
eat from zabiha haral. Okay.
So they went to a Muslim restaurant, they
brought them zabiha haral food Alhamdulillah.
So after food they were concluding the contract
and the Muslim brothers
they said,
thank you, we appreciate the business, but on
the packages
don't say that the country of origin is
China because no one will will buy it
but say it was made in Germany. Uh-huh.
So you have a problem with eating, you
know, because of Sabihaalal but you don't have
a problem cheating.
So you have taqwa in one place and
you don't have taqwa in the other. So
if if you want to exercise Taqwa, Islam
is a whole package.
Islam is a whole package. Yes, food is
a good thing but also dealing with people
and transaction should also be done Islamically.
But the guy says the Chinese guy, it
is not moral because
you know, how can I do this? Just
pretend it's a typo.
That's a big typo, and China to Germany
that's a big typo, like,
you know. So talk about Insha'Allah. This is
what Ramadan is all about. So the first
type of people that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
loves is the people of Taqwa.
And the second type of the people that
Allah loves in the Quran, the people of
Ihsan, Allahu hikbu marsineen. When you observe him,
you try to do everything,
as best as you
can and try to give sadaqa, you try
to feed, to give Istaaad, you pray on
time, you observe Allah when you are fasting.
This is the people of Ihsan.
And the 3rd type of people that Allah
loves in the Quran
is of course the Sabirun Allah Allah
loves people who exercise Sabr.
The Ulemana is saying there are 3 types
of Sabr in Islam Sabr when something bad
happens
you lose a family member,
your cat dies,
something terrible happens to you, so this is
your Safr.
And the second type, Safr when you do
Ibadal, you wake up in the morning like
3 to pray salatul Fazl, it's cold, you
make wudu and you get ready. So Safra
to do something that is, you know, it
it is it is, you know, it requires
a lot of Safra and a lot of
effort to do. Fasting 17 hours, that requires
a lot of Safra. And the third type
of Sabr is to,
to, to stay away from the Haram
because in Ramadan,
if you do something Haram, you would be
mufless at the end of the month. You
pray and you cheat, you lose the Hasanad.
You fast but you lie, you lose the
Hasanat. So in charge to protect it, so
this is the 3rd type of Sabr, staying
away from the Haram, doing the Ibalat.
So there are 2 types of Sabr out
of the 3 that are achieved in this
month of Ramadan.
And finally Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
Allah loves those who make tawba to Him
and those who call upon Him and make
dua to Him. And if you look at
the Ayyat that talk about Ramadan in the
Quran in Surah Baqarah, Shahu Ramadan and Lafi'ul
Zillafi'ul Quran. They talk about Ramadan and fasting
at the end of the Allah Subhanahu Wa'ala
says Wa'idha sa'alaka'ibadyaani
fa'i nir kareem.
When my servants ask you Muhammad SallAllahu about
me, I'm truly near I answer them to
I forgive them and so on and so
forth. So everything
SubhanAllah
that is done in the month of Ramadan
will give you the qualifications,
the characteristics for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to
love you. So take advantage of these things
this is a great opportunity from Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala to extend His love to you.
The second thing that we learned from the
month of Ramadan
in this month unlike any other month of
the year
you are in control.
You are in control. Fazlih time, you have
the control
button in your hand. Fazlih time off,
no eating, no drinking, no intimate relations.
Mamirih time, on. You can eat, you can
drink, you can have intimate relations.
Right? So you are in control, your desires
are not in control.
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is giving you
a proof that you can do the same
thing after the month of Ramadan. Now you
are in control,
now you elevate yourself above your desires,
so you can do the same thing after
Ramadan. So as I said, if you smoke
you can quit because you did it for
30 days in the month for 17 hours,
you can do it.
If you find it difficult to pray after
Ramadan, you did it in Ramadan. You're praying
5 daily amaz, qiyam, everything, tahajjud,
praying, kriyak,
feeding the poor, giving sadaqah, giving zakah, going
to the masjid, wearing hijab, reading Quran. You
did it in Ramadan so there's no problem
doing it after because you actually did it.
Allah is giving you a proof, you actually
can do it.
The third thing that we learned from the
school of Ramadan in the last 5 minutes
of the life of this Khutba
is discipline.
There is time for everything.
And as a matter of fact, in Islam
there is time for every Ibaal and everything
we do. If you do it before
or after, it doesn't work. Can I say
for example,
for Zakatul Shadr,
If you give it after salatul Iqid, 1
minute after salatul Iqid, it's not Zakatul Fatur
anymore?
For Ruutheya turban, ihidu athai if you do
it in 1 minute before salah, it is
not turban, it's not because there is time
for everything.
If they have valid or fast goes on,
and you eat and drink 1 minute after,
halas, your fasting is not valid.
And if you eat or drink 1 minute
before Adanul Magrib, your fasting is not valid.
There is time for everything.
And 4 salah is the same thing. There's
time for salah,
Hajj, there's time for Hajj, there's time for
Ramadan, and so on and so forth. The
Aybalas have certain times in Islam. So we
learn from this discipline.
You stand in salah behind the Imam, you
cannot make sajrurukur
before the imam.
In Namajur that imam will be you follow
the imam. So it is all about discipline
and this is something we need to carry
on after the month of Ramadan.
And SubhanAllah, I've seen in some masajid, not
necessarily here, you guys are good, Alhamdulillah, angels.
See angels, Masha'Allah.
So you see that
the polar opposite of discipline
not even inside the masjid from the parking
lot outside.
Blocking
people, fire hydrant is blocked and people leave
their salah after Jum'ah or regular salah, they
can't leave because someone Masha'Allah, he blocked them,
they can't go to work, you see someone
standing outside pulling their hair off, they can't
leave, you know. And SubhanAllah God forbid if
there is an emergency
and the ambulance has to come to take
someone it happened in some masajid someone you
know they they are diabetic or something
they go into a coma or concussion and
and they can't go inside to bring the
the you know the person
And and you go inside the masjid, Masha
Allah. Some Muslims go to the masajid, you
know, and we invite them or they come
for observation, they come and they see this
sea of shoes all over the place.
Why do we have racks then? Right? You
have to put them in on the rack.
So they come inside and they say SubhanAllah,
do you guys have a shoe, fair today?
You're like you buy any type of shoes
you want? No, like you should put them
on the rack. Come to the Salah,
you you you tell people please brothers and
sisters Masha'Allah, we're about to pray. Put yourself
on silent,
put your kids on vibrate, you know, so
we can focus in the Salah. And as
soon as you start, like 15 phones are
ringing.
So I don't know what is difficult about
this sentence sentence put your cell phone on
silent. It's it's very simple, you know? But
people lose it for focusing for sure because
of this,
You know? So discipline. This is something we
learned from Islam that there is discipline in
Islam. The Ibadat are all about discipline. So
this is something we learned from the school
of Ravadan. I'm gonna kindly ask you to
move forward because people are standing outside.
Move up a little bit please
the last thing that I want to mention
insha Allahu ta'ala something we learn from the
school of Ramadan
because people think
that once Ramadan comes and this is something
we know from our experiences back home. When
Ramadan comes, you don't go to school, you
don't go to work,
you retire for 1 month or actually you
hibernate, you sleep in the house during the
day and at night you're watching TV, play
video games,
playing Shatta,
Shiisha, whatever. Right? So,
you know, Ramadan is the month of power.
Shaw'ul Tuwah. Right?
And I remember
SubhanAllah back in the in 1961
those of you who are from Tunisia they
know what I'm talking about. They had a
president, a secular president by the name of
Burkhima, Habib Burkhima. So in 1961
he made an announcement
he gave a speech on TV and he
said, I don't think Ramadan is very, like,
productive when it comes to fasting.
I think people should not fast in this
month because their productivity will go down. You
shouldn't fast. And he requested from the Imam
Usman of his time,
Al A'lamah ibn Ashur,
one of the biggest scholars of our time,
and he made a beautiful tafsir called Tahir
Wat Tanweer. It's a very beautiful tafsir. So
he told him, give Fatwa tell people, you
know, sometimes we have these scholars men we
call them scholars for dollars
to be in Magdurat you know we see
them all over the place so Alta'arib Najur
gave the talk and he says this is
what the president says
it reduces productivity
and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says in the
Quran, You a you a laveena
If
you fast, Allah will give you power and
it will give you a tough one.
He said on public TV, Allah says the
truth in the truth in the Quran and
our president is talking falsehood, so don't listen
to him. Right? So Ramadan is not is
not about lying or hibernating and so on
and so forth. And if SubhanAllah, if you
just look very briefly at Islamic history,
some of the most glorious days of Islam
and victories were in the month of Ramadan.
The list is so long, I will just
give you a flavor.
Ramadan.
Fakhhamakkah,
Ramadan.
Many of the glorious victories of Salahuddin and
Layubi were in the month of Ramadan.
And as recent as 1973
in Egypt,
in the month of Ramadan, people are fasting.
People think that fasting will make them weak.
No, you have Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala behind
you and He's supporting you. So it will
not make you weak, it will make you
strong because now you have the Rizza and
the Azima and the support of Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala and you know for sure that
Allah will not let you down in this
month. So whether you are a business person
or you go to work or you go
to school or you have a job it
will not make you weak Allah will give
you support and He would help you. We
ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to give us
the best best in this life and the
best in the life to come.
So a few announcements inshaAllah to keep in
mind. Make sure you pay your zakatul filth,
it's $10
per person.
$10 per person. Those who are dependent on
you, you pay Zakah for them, and you
can either give it here or you send
it back home. It's still $10 InshaAllah. Make
sure you pay it before, salatul read in
the lay time.
And also, if someone missed some days in
the month of Ramadan, make sure you make
up the days after Ramadan, and don't delay
because sometimes we get busy and we we,
we,
we forget and we don't make up the
days. And make sure, inshallah, according to the
hadith of the prophet, you fast 6 days
in the month of Shawwal,
any 6 days. They can be in the
beginning, middle or end. You can fast Mondays,
Thursdays with 2 intentions, and the prophet says
we have a fast Ramadan, and then fast
6 after. Allah will give them the reward
of fasting the whole year. Because and he
in another hadith, he says because fasting in
Ramadan, Al Hasar al Gashrah and said he'll
fast one day you get 30 words so
30 days by 10:3 100 you fast 6
days from Shawwal that's 60:3:60
and that's a whole year. So this is
something that encourage you inshaAllah to do it
is not fard
it is something that is recommended,
it's an incentive from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
So you may consider doing it Mondays, Thursdays,
any 6 days of the month Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala will give you the reward in
the layta'ala.
As I mentioned Eid inshaAllah Wa Ta'ala will
be on Sunday and we have 2 salat.
The first one will be at 8 in
the morning and this will be in Turkish
and the second salah will be at 9:45
will be in English a little bit of
Arabic inshaAllah and Somali and we'll do so
everyone is welcome.
So Eid will be Sunday, 1st salah at
8 in Turkish, second one 9:45
in English.
And also if you made a pledge in
the month of Ramadan, 2nd Jummah we made
a fundraiser
for the carpet, for the maintenance utilities parking
lot. If You made a pledge 2nd Ramadan
or laylatul Qadr, make sure inshallah fulfill your
pledge, and may ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
to reward everyone who donated and to bless
their health and wealth and family. And may
ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to bless those
who couldn't
afford to pay because
of they don't have the financial ability, may
Allah give you, so you will contribute insha
Allah.
We have iftar tonight
as usual
for everyone is welcome. Tomorrow Saturday there is
no iftar in the masjid so,
make sure you take note of this. No
iftar tomorrow, inshaAllah ta'ala.
If you have children make sure to register
for the school camp with the main gate
Islamic Academy, a few spots are left. And
also after
after salah, there is a brother from a
salam school.
This is a Turkish organization,
and they provide schooling for Syrian children who
cross the border to Turkey. So the brother
will talk to us for 1 minute
if you'd like to help them, then everyone
is welcome.
We ask Allah to accept your
and reward you immensely, and we ask Allah
to give us sincerity in everything we say
and do. He has the best in this
life and the best in the life to
come. And we ask Allah
to forgive all of us and all Muslims,
and to forgive our fathers and our mothers
and our spouses and our children and our
teachers and all good Muslims.
And I will ask Allah
to to give to give to Islam and
Muslims
and to protect all Muslims in all nations.
In Pakistan,
in Afghanistan,
in Syria,
in Palestine,
in Iraq,
in Yemen, in Shishan, in Egypt, in Libya,
in Sudan, in Sumad, in all Muslim countries
if I miss your country. And in Turkey,
we ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to bless
all Muslim countries and protect them and give
them maisal alamin.
