Musleh Khan – Friday Night Hour – How we are tested Ramadan is Coming
AI: Summary ©
The Inshallah class for the slums of Toronto will be held every day, with participants wearing masks and emphasizing the importance of recognizing and assessing one's response to the pandemic. There is a need for patient adherence and proper clothing to protect oneself and others. The importance of learning to be grateful for everything and preparing oneself for the throne monk is emphasized. The pandemic has affected people, including those who have experienced the virus, but positive tests can preserve humility and make one feel like they have nothing to give back.

Salam aleikum wa rahmatullah Diallo. What occurred to 100 Aloha Robert Alameen, WA sallahu wa sallim wa barik ala Sayyidina Muhammad Ali he or savage mean? Welcome everyone to the Friday night hour from the Islamic Institute of Toronto. My name is Mahmoud Hassan and I will be your host today. I hope you're doing well I hope you're happy, healthy and I hope you are wealthy and I ask Allah subhanaw taala to increase you in all of those three Inshallah, it is an absolute pleasure for me to be your host today. And before we begin our programming Shala let me give you a couple of announcements actually from today as you know, today was the first day when we started lifting the
some of the the pandemic mandates that are that have been placed at the salon because of trauma. So the first day today, we actually play prayed a little bit closer to each other 100 Leila without me. So this was actually a new thing for us. But starting next week in sha Allah, Allah, there will be all the space will be actually removed the sha Allah there will be no vaccine requirement to come in. But there will be a requirement for you to come in with the actual mask itself in sha Allah and to bring your own prayer mat that's going to remain for the time being inshallah so that's exciting news. hamdulillah it looks like we are moving past this pandemic. We're very excited about that
mess. We asked Allah subhanaw taala to allow us all in sha Allah to
get past us completely. We don't want to remember this pandemic every sha Allah and I ask Allah subhanho wa Taala to have mercy upon those who have suffered from from from this disease in this pandemic and the time that you know, difficulties that they have gone through and ask Allah subhanaw taala to make it a, a purification for them for those of us who gotten sick of it in sha Allah, Allah. Alright, so that's the first announcement. Inshallah The second announcement, as you know, our classes are happening at the slums of Toronto. That's on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays. Pretty much we have a class every single day and hum they love alameen and including the Friday night hour
from this Luxor trial today. So also, we're always regularly having things are always live streaming. The live streams are free on YouTube, on Facebook and on our Twitter. So yeah, I asked you today Inshallah, to go ahead and
share this. Go ahead and tell other people about what we're doing here. My guest today. The first actually the only guest for today inshallah Shia Muslim Concha Mr. Khan was the hottie for today's hold book, and he's hold but today was about how Allah tests so I'm gonna go ahead and bring one we'll talk about the Friday hope but inshallah so I'm only going to lie down over that mode and how Isha
Allah Casa la hora Tula good Alhamdulillah How are you doing? It is always a pleasure to see you Chef meillassoux pleasures all mine give each and every time we see each other face to face. We're wearing masks, so I don't really see your full face, Michelle. But it is I know it's really a blessing to see you
without a mascot. I know the pleasure is all mine.
Alhamdulillah it's good to see you too. May Allah subhana, Allah bless you Shia. Today's Hoba was about how the law tests us go ahead and talk to you a little bit about why you've chosen to speak about this.
It's directly connected for sure about what's happening in Ukraine. That was the thing that I've been thinking about all night. And then to add to that, you know, as you mentioned in the intro, what kind of getting out and phasing out from the whole pandemic life. And that's hit everybody in its own way differently. But at the end of the day, still difficult for everybody, and to experience that for the last few years. So when you're thinking that, okay, there's going to be some relief, now we can sort of get back to normality, then the next day you wake up, And subhanAllah a war is going to take place. So I was thinking about all of this. And I thought to myself, rather than just
saying to everyone, look, you know, this is a test from Allah, we need to be patient and that sort of thing. Those are usually the standard things that speakers will address. When they talk about this, I wanted to concentrate more on how the test happens, what we know from the Quran and Sunnah of how Allah gives us and tests us, and what you and I can look forward to when we confront the test and go through the test and pass the test. Meaningless. So that was my primary focus today. Okay, wonderful show. Let's get into it. How does a lot test us? So the first thing that I concentrated on was the two main genres or categories that scholars had given us to understand all about recognizing
a test and assessing your reaction to that test. And there are two things that every person must keep in mind. And the first thing that I mentioned was that when you respond, that your response is in accordance to the teachings of Islam, so your adherence to the Shetty so did you react and respond to whatever tests you're going through whether good or bad, that you responded in a way that Allah would be pleased with and not, I don't want to say not to complain, because complaining is perfectly okay. We're allowed to complain. That is what Allah subhanho wa Taala wants us to do to complain to him. But it's how when the choice of words and the intention and the attitude, those are
the things that I want to caution the people with, so that was the first thing. And then the second thing is you as an individual, the human in the you and me how we react to the test. Are we upset or angry or we bitter, or we frustrated all of those things, and to kind of show people that these two categories, if you can react to them in a way that is appropriate, it is in accordance to Islam, and you know that you're confident that Allah subhanho wa Taala will be pleased with the way that you reacted, then this is a first sign that you understand the test. You recognize that you can't do anything about it, you've got to go through the test. And in sha Allah, on the other side, on the
Day of Judgment, when we get the results of all of this inshallah it will be a happy day for you and I Bismillah
Shama. So this is actually a really amazing thing that you said, because one of the questions that we oftentimes get, as students of knowledge is, you know, my life is really good. I'm eating well, I have a good job, I have a good
obedient family, my husband treats me well, my wife is really great to me.
And I don't have a test. I feel like I'm not being tested by Allah subhanho wa taala. And that sometimes scares people because if you're not being tested in this dunya that means something is you're certainly waiting for some sort of difficulty to always come to you. If you just want to talk to me a little bit about that show.
You know, I'm really glad you asked this, because what you just the example you've just given us is the scariest test of all, is no color analysis when blue can be sure we will hire Cigna.
Allah is going to test you with the good and the bad. So it's the the scholars that say that the shed del hotter, you know, the most dangerous type of test. And then that's the euro. meander. Una mahalo who Minal booty was say your art and all of these things, right? They look around and they say, look at this house, look at my wealth. Look at my children, look at my wife, my husband, blah, blah, blah, blah. They see all of these amazing things I must be doing really well. Oil is well known and Allah Hakata Radha and you know, they're so they think immediately that Allah subhanaw taala is pleased with them. That is the test. So the point here is that no matter what we do, and
what life you choose,
You are always going to be tested, period. Unfortunately, because in life culture, our upbringing, the things that we were taught and exposed to, you know, the mindset is always expecting that the test should be bad or difficult or hard in some way. Yeah, you know, and that's how we're taught. Like, we see that in movies and cartoons, everything but at least in Islam, and in most of the religions, we are taught No, the real test is actually when life is at ease, and you're at peace and everything is going good. That's the scariest thing because it's almost impossible for someone to see that, okay, I still need to do A, B and C, despite them going, Okay, I still need to learn this,
I still need to understand this. Despite that I graduated, I have knowledge, I have a great career, so on and so forth. You know, Subhan, Allah, Allah, it takes a lot of humility, it takes a lot of wisdom to recognize all of that, and treat it in a way that Allah is pleased with. How do we how do we behave when we recognize the fact that we've been tested Bill higher? If we've been tested with goodness? What should be the reaction for us? Yeah. So the Quran tells us a lot of ways and some of the things that we're taught to do is, first and foremost, be grateful to Allah subhanho wa taala. You'll you'll see that immediately with the gifts that Suleiman Alehissalaam is gifted with right to
be able to listen to the animals to understand them, to direct them, to control them, all of this sort of thing. What does he do the end of the day, the first thing he recognize is that I need to show Shakur and gratitude to Allah. Otherwise, all of this now is going to be against me it might be putting it might punish me in the sight of Allah. So Gratitude is the first and foremost thing. The second thing is to also take the blessings that Allah subhanaw taala has given you
and share that with the rest of mankind in a manner that is possible for you and be fitting for Allah.
You know, the thing that's really beautiful is that nowhere in the Quran does Allah say that our wealth belongs to us, it's yours, it's always we have given it to you, we are in charge, I have blessed you with. So immediately, we don't own anything. And that's one of the verses that we all know in there. Lila, we're in la hora, Joan. But we even acknowledge that we are ourselves belong to all that. So we don't even own ourselves. So when you step into life with that mindset, and you start to becoming dependent and earning things and being responsible for things, these two things are really crucial. It's a must, you have to have them gratitude, and the blessings that Allah
subhanho wa Taala has given you to ensure that those who were not given those blessings, you're able to lend or give back. And that will preserve humility in you and of course, you will be blessed with with by Allah subhanaw taala. So, if you are inflicted with goodness, I'm good, you should share that with with the rest of the people a must. How about the other way around? Because sometimes, we don't know, sometimes the difficulty becomes so hard, that we don't recognize that it is a test from Allah subhanaw taala. We don't know how to respond to it.
In you know, this is the thing that you do, when you don't know you don't know. That's one thing, but when you don't know, because you're not putting forth the effort to learning and trying to understand and thinking of others, and so on and so forth. That's a different problem altogether. It's not about the test anymore. There's a bankruptcy happening in your heart. There's something wrong, there's something inherently corrupt, the the Koran calls it fasciae or fiscal, right, it's something is not right there, that you're seeing images of people who struggle in all sorts of different ways, all on the screen, in person wherever you go. And none of that hits home to that man
Subhanallah, I got to do something. Because Allah blessed me with a, b and c, I got to give back in some way. There has to be something like in psychology, they teach us that there are things that are called triggers, there has to be something that triggers your heart in your mind, that life is more than just about me and my own family. It's got to be I live in this world with all of these other people. We live side by side, we move side by side, we drive side by side, like everything in life involves being with others. So if you can recognize that you're not alone in this world, it's very easy for you to cooperate and share that those blessings with others. And even if you don't see any
of that, just the
fact that Islam orders us to do that should be enough. So it's a matter of just sort of learning and listening and understanding and taking good advice from good people that insha Allah will help you through that. Mm hmm. Shia Muslim Allah subhanaw taala bless you and give you general you have been a pleasure to see uncle all the time. I'm going to go ahead and put a link for the football here Shala data before we finish this program, but now I want to shift into our
Ramadan is coming is I don't know. less than less than 40 days all I know is the last time I saw a post somewhere a couple of days ago it was about 40 days before Milan comes in sha Allah Allah and Ramadan is a I want to call it the season of righteous deeds for Muslims and a season of a badass and assistance of worship Ramadan's the past two Ramadan have been really difficult for Muslims. They have been really strange. What are you doing, mostly to prepare yourself for the throne monk.
A couple of things that are slightly different from the previous years, definitely definitely looking forward to very anxious patiently awaiting the reopening of our masajid. So just thinking about being amongst people again, praying total we with with the community. So that sort of excitement and preparation. So just reviewing some of the things that I want to discuss, I want to lecture about and talk about in the month of Ramadan. So that's one part of it. The other part is on a personal level.
It's always an all my students know this, it's always with me and the poor end. So I do nothing else except just practice my HIV and recitation. And I tried to do as much of that throughout Ramadan and the way that I prepare myself for that is I slowly start getting into a routine a more consistent routine now so that when Ramadan hits I have a consistent routine but here's the best part my consistent routine pretty Ramadan now because I don't have to worry about eating and drinking for so many hours of the day that existed existing routine now I get to add more hours and an additional time and schedule to it that I could have never done throughout the year. So basically in a nutshell
whatever I prepare for now, in sha Allah I'm hoping that I get some bonus time and blessings in the month of Ramadan to do the exact same thing. So this those are two areas I'm concentrating on for now. She's not gonna obviously gonna have more discussions before Ramadan company Shala I'm sure we're gonna work on some sort of movie series where we're prepping people for Ramadan insha Allah Tala I'd love to work on that with you inshallah. Muslim, may Allah, Allah increase you in knowledge of Allah subhanho wa Taala benefit from your knowledge of Allah and he was all in sha Allah Allah subhanaw taala bless you and give you Jenna and I'll see you around inshallah.
