Can we please settle down?
We

Hafez Uthman
Kananello.
Math, my apologies.
Hafez Usman Kannel Yellow
will render a
oh, ma.
Sorry.
Sorry,
Sometimes we get nervous, especially when especially when
is around.
He's younger than me, but he makes me
nervous. I must tell you that.
K. We will start with the.
By 11 year old MZB student. Is that
right, Karija?
Yes.
It's Hafiz al Quran who is graduating as
Hafiz al Quran tomorrow.
Bashir
Adam to render a Koran from the Holy
Quran. Bashir Adam?
Masha'allah
Hafez Bashir for that melodious
rendition from the holy Quran.
Once again,
a warm and hearty welcome
to all.
Also,
a warm welcome to the listeners of Channel
Islam and Salam Media,
to the MZB
Succession Plan Program.
At this time,
we remember 2 of our vibrant and dedicated
directors
who have passed on in a short period
of time.
Marom
Ibrahim Ehsah
and Marom Eunice Manak. May Allah fill their
cupboards with noor and grant all Marhumeen the
highest status in Jannah.
May Allah grant our director Ismail Chidat,
who is not well, and all persons that
are sick, Shifai Kamila
and Afiya
Amin.
I now ask Harizia to introduce to us
our esteemed guests who travel especially from Durban
to be in our midst.
Sorry. I'm gonna take one step back.
I'm gonna call on Hafez Uthman Kananello
to present a nazam.
Hafez Uthman?
SubhanAllah.
I must express my as astonishment.
What talent?
The power of Allah is
great.
Kariziyat,
can I give you the honors now, please?
Undoubtedly,
it gives me great honor
to welcome and to introduce my beloved brother,
my beloved friend,
none other than
Mohammad
Venker,
who hails from the sunny city of Durban.
But, very very quickly,
who is Maulana Muhammad Venker?
I can say to you, he's one of
the gems of this country of South Africa.
And unfortunately,
we haven't taken full benefit from this great
luminary.
Once again, thumbs up to MZB, Tari Musa
Sirat,
for always inviting Molana Mohammed Venker to our
prestigious events and functions
wherein we can benefit benefit from them.
Mohammed Venker is the imam of the Masjid
in Durban. He also sits on the board
of the in
Camperdown,
and he's also the chairman of the Muslims
Serving Humanity.
It is an umbrella body, wherein many different
organizations
feature.
So Molana is playing a multi talented role
across the broad spectrum of activities
within our country. Alhamdulillah.
But perhaps, let me tell you a bit
more about what Molana does internationally.
Again, I'm saying this. We have great
luminaries within our reach, within our community, and
we haven't taken full benefit from them. In
fact, we are guilty. We haven't given them
the honor that they deserve.
Has
been on many lecture tours in the United
States of America, whether it's been in the
UK, in different parts of Europe. And, subhanallah,
he is one of these scholars from South
Africa who goes on frequent trips to lecture
in Pakistan.
In fact, tomorrow,
after the jalsa which will be held here
in MZB, he will be leaving for Umrah,
and then after leaving for Pakistan, he will
be having a 2 day lecture tour in
Pakistan.
Is my very, very close friend. I've had
the opportunity
of also attending on various occasions,
the United Muslims Convention,
which runs in Birmingham
annually.
On a few of those events, I did
join
And Molana lectures to over 8,000 people in
the UK. And trust me, people are mesmerized
and taken aback by him.
So on a on a monthly basis, or
at least on every biweekly basis, on a
biweekly basis,
Molana links up with the great amount of
students in the UK, whereby he is teaching
tafsir,
using technology
to also teach people in different parts of
the globe. SubhanAllah.
So yes, Mona is sitting in South Africa,
but he's also benefiting
so many students in different parts of the
world.
Mona
plays a great level of activity
when it comes to also social activities, social
work.
In his own way,
he's initiated
many different projects.
In fact, I can go back and think
there are so many
so many
that have been set up under the the
auspiciousness of Muhammad Venker. I can go on
speaking and speaking in great detail about my
great friend, but all I can say to
you, for me personally,
for me personally, the one quality
that I see in Muhammad Venker, and which
really touches my heart, is his great level
of humility.
His great level of humility, and you can
see near to this evening,
no glamour, no glory.
He comes out here,
comes out to deliver his message from his
heart. He makes the effort, he makes the
sacrifice,
and he's all ours, and all he does
is for the pleasure of
Allah. Ladies and gentlemen, my beloved brothers and
sisters, seniors, it will give me great honor
and privilege to ask Mawlana Mohammed Banker,
our brother, our senior, our alim,
to lecture us and to deliver a potent
message for us, for the family of MZB
this evening.
Respected on its scholars, all our mothers, beloved
brothers, mothers and sisters, and those who are
listening
over the various platforms. We begin by praising
Allah,
our creator, our sustainer, our cherisher, provider.
We send countless blessings, salutations
upon our leader and master Nabi Muhammad sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam,
his honorable companions, his household and those who
follow him.
There is no stage in the life of
a human being and in particular in the
life of a believer
where a person could become complacent
in their progress and their achievements.
In essence,
the effort to better ourselves, to improve ourselves,
it is unending, it's a lifelong effort.
Allah says that
that continue worshipping Allah
until death overtakes you. And really speaking,
when a person has the desire
of becoming a better Muslim,
when a person has the desire of becoming
a better human being,
then wallahi,
you will learn from all circumstances
where the positive, where the negative,
each and everything would leave you impressed. You
know, like in English they say,
they say a positive thinker
finds an opportunity in every difficulty
and a negative thinker
finds a difficulty in every opportunity
Let me repeat that that a positive thinker
finds an opportunity in every difficulty
and a negative thinker
finds a difficulty in every opportunity.
Luqman the wise
Allah Tala devoted
one entire chapter in Quran
to Luqman the wise
and amongst the multitudes of advisers
that he had disseminated
and he had given to his son, Allah
selected a few and had given it a
place in Quran.
Oh my son, establish salah.
Invite towards good, forbid from evil. Whatever difficulty
comes your way, persevere and
jaw Don't be hostile and unpleasant towards people
Don't walk on this earth with pride and
arrogance.
1 day somebody comes to Luqman the wise
and he says, Luqman,
you are so famous.
You're so intelligent.
Where did you learn all this from?
You are so intelligent. You are so famous.
Where did you learn all this from? What
did he say?
I learned
it from those who lacked it.
Where did you learn it from? I learned
it from those who lacked it. People said
elaborate. What are you speaking about?
He says, when I had seen someone doing
something wrong, I said that looks wicked.
That looks despicable,
and that is what I should avoid.
If he looks evil to me when he
does it, I guess it will look evil
to others when I do it. He says
that was my motto in life. You know,
you and I will say this man is
sitting in a position of authority.
He's abusing his authority.
Only to know the day Allah puts me
in that position, I am worse than the
one who sat before me. So really, you
know, this particular institution,
Allah take it from strength to strength. I
would just like to place on record my
appreciation
to our respected, Kareem Musa Sirat, who has
invited me to be part of this,
you know, momentous occasion,
the succession plan of Madrassa's yawul badar
accept, keep,
shadow over the, you know, for many, many
years. I always say this, we don't appreciate
what we have. You know, how many scholars
and ulama
recently have left this world
that has left a void that can never
be substituted.
The Rabi of Allah salallahu alaihi wa sallam
says, the hadith appears in Bukhari
that your knowledge would be taken away.
How would this happen?
Allah will take scholars and away.
Allah will take scholars and away.
Allah will take scholars and away.
And number 2,
the scholars have explained
respect for
will become absent in this world.
Hassan Basri used to
say
Had it not been because of the scholars
and the
the general masses would have become like animals.
The Nabi of Allah said close to Qayama
because of the lack of competent scholars and
ulama,
ordinary people will take up positions of leadership
and lead the masses astray. You know, we
have
scholars,
you know, the likes of Karim Musa Sidat,
who's running this amazing institution.
And as Karim Ziyad, you know, was speaking
earlier on, you know, the couplets of Imam
Shafi'i across through the mind, and I thought
I shared that with you. You know, something
that is so profound
that
What profound words?
He said some people
have physically
died,
but the characters kept them alive.
Some people are physically alive,
but the character has killed them before they
have physically died.
Let me repeat that.
Some people have physically
died,
but the characters kept them alive.
Some people are physically
alive,
but their character has killed them before they
have physically died. You know, we have seen
many great scholars and all I'm asked.
Many of them had gained more popularity
after they left this world than whilst they
were alive.
You know, I was in the United Kingdom
some years back
and after the talk,
one brother comes up to me and he
had tattoos on his body
and, you know,
and he began introducing himself. You know, many
a times you meet a person,
you know, who reverts to Islam and you
ask him what motivated you? What inspired you
to become a Muslim?
Many of them have said
that I am grateful to the Almighty Allah
that I was first introduced to Islam
before being introduced to Muslims.
I am grateful to the almighty Allah I
was first introduced to Islam
before being introduced to Muslims.
If my introduction
was via
Muslims,
I doubt I would have accepted the faith.
So this particular brother after the program, he
comes forward and he says that I'll just
introduce who I am and what brought me
into Islam.
He says I was working in an office
and I received somebody had given me a
CD,
with some lectures
of a scholar from your country. He was
making reference to our respected
This was after Mawlana passed away and he
said this brother had given me the CD
and I heard few of his lectures
and that motivated
me to become a Muslim.
That inspired me to become a Muslim. You
know, Abdullah bin Mubarak,
he had a non Muslim neighbor.
So the neighbor puts the house on the
market and he asked for an exorbitant price.
So somebody told him this is the market
value. How do you expect to fetch that
price?
He says, no. No.
1 is the price of the house, the
market value, but that person who moves into
my house will have the privilege of being
the name of Abdullah bin Mubarak.
When Abdullah bin Mubarak heard this, he was
blown away.
He comes to his neighbor and he said,
you know what? I appreciate the kind sentiments.
How about me inviting you to Islam?
He said, what can I tell you? The
day you move next door, I saw your
character. That's the day I became a Muslim.
The day you move next door,
I saw your character.
That's the day I became a Muslim.
And this is what is lacking in the
Ummah today.
Hassan radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu, the grandson of the
Nabi of Allah. You know, he walks into
a garden
and he sees
that there is a slave
sitting on the floor and next to him
is a dog. Next to him is a
dog and he's got a slice of bread
in his hand.
The slave, he takes the slice of bread
and he breaks it in 2. He gives
half to the dog and he eats the
other half.
Hassan Radiallahu Anhu was moved,
and he looks at the slave,
and he said you were hungry. What motivated
you? What inspired
you to do what you had done? You
could have eaten the slice of bread alone.
What did he say?
He says I had literally seen
hunger in the eyes of this dog.
I could not for the sake of me
eat the slice of bread alone
knowing that there is another creation of Allah
that is going hungry.
I mean these were Allahu Akbar. So Hassan
radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu
he asked the slave that who is your
master?
He said Aban Biroz Smirn.
Who does this garden belong to? He said
it belongs to my master,
He goes and he searches for this man.
So he tells him, eventually he finds him,
is that your slave? Yes. Is that your
garden? Yes. How much do you want for
both the slave and the garden? He said,
I want an x amount. He gives him
the money. Hassan radiAllahu ta'ala anhu then comes
back and he tells the slave, I have
purchased you from your master. I have liberated
you. I purchased this garden.
I now gift it to you.
I now gift it to you. You know,
there is an amazing narration
that is recorded in Tabrani. One day the
Rebbe of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
he exits
from the room of one of his honorable
wives,
and what he was saying,
and suddenly there was a person who was
a Bedouin.
He comes to the Nabi of Allah salallahu
alaihi wa sallam, and he said, oh, Nabi
of Allah. I've invited my people to Islam.
They've accepted my message.
I have promised them material wealth.
I have promised them money.
Do you have any funds at your disposal?
I could give it to them and keep
them in Islam.
Nabi alaihi salam looked at.
The funds are depleted.
We've got absolutely nothing.
Suddenly, there was a person
who approaches the Nabi of Allah.
His name was Zayd ibn Sohna.
Zayd ibn Sohna. He approaches the Nabi of
Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam
and he said, oh, Muhammad,
I see you are in need of money.
I could loan you money for a period
of time,
pay me back, and in time agreed between
both of us.
Said no problem.
Took the money,
and he gave it to this Bedouin, and
he said take this money and distribute
it to your people with justice, fairness, and
equality.
This, Zaire ibn Sohnah, he moved on. Ali
bin Abi Thali walked away.
Time passed on. Nabi alaihis salam said, I
will settle this debt on a certain day.
One day prior to the scheduled payment date,
the Zayd ibn Sohnah,
he approaches the Nabi of Allah from the
rear
and he grabs the Nabi of Allah
and he says you Quraysh,
you have a reputation
of prolonging
payments
O Muhammad
give me my money.
Bearing in mind there was still a day
left to settle this debt. He said, O
Muhammad give me my money.
So to Zayd ibn al Sukhna,
he says whilst I was harshly demanding
my money from Mohammed Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam, I looked at Sayyidina Umar radiAllahu
ta'ala Anhu
and the eyeballs of Umar were turning viciously.
You know, who was Omar? Just to digress
for one minute. You know, I read this,
somebody mentioned this the other day, something that
is thought provoking. Omar was a giant, you
know, per excellence.
So,
you know, one night he sees a vision
and a dream,
and he sees it is the time of
the Nabi of Allah. This was during the
khilafat of Sayyidina Umar.
He sees it is the time of the
Nabi of Allah, and as he's proceeding to
the Masjid
for the salatul fajr, there's an elderly woman
sitting outside Masjid in Nabi with a tray
laden with dates
and she tells Ali ibn Abi Talib,
take this tray of dates and present it
to the nabi of Allah and tell him
to distribute it amongst his companions.
After his salatul fajr, Ali
steps forward,
and he presents this platter of dates to
the Nabi of Allah. Nabi alaihis salam took
one date.
He placed it into the mouth of Ali.
He experienced such sweetness
that in his dream, he tells the Nabi
of Allah that.
Oh, Nabi of Allah, give me another date.
He says, as I said that
my eyes open and I realized it was
a dream and a vision.
Like I said, it was the time of
Sayid Ra Umar.
The Adhan of Fajr goes.
Approaches.
That same woman
who he had seen in his dream, that
same woman is sitting outside Masjidun Nabawi with
a tray laden with dates.
And she tells
Ali take this tray of dates
and present it to Amirul Mu'minin
and tell him to distribute it amongst his
companions.
After the salatul fajr,
Ali
presents the tray of dates to Sayyidina Umar.
Umar
took one date, and he placed it into
the mouth of Ali.
The same sweetness he experienced in his dream,
that's the same sweetness he's experiencing now.
He looks at
and he said,
Oh, Omar give me another date. Omar looked
at him and he smiled and he said,
If my Habib had given you another date
in your dream, I would have given you
another date now.
That was Omar. He was a giant. So
nonetheless the Zayd ibn Sohneh,
he says whilst I was harshly demanding my
money from Mohammed,
I happened to glance at Omar
Omar.
Like we would say the man, you know,
he look he gives me a stern,
look. You know, the eyeballs of Omar returning
viciously
that how dare you speak to the Nabi
of Allah in that manner. Nabi alaihi salam
looked at Omar
bearing in mind there was still one day
left to settle the debts.
Nabi alaihis salam said Omar,
this is not how we deal with situations.
You need to be very kind when you
are demanding your Jew.
Jew. Because of your harshness,
take this man,
give him what we owe him, and not
only that, give him an added amount.
Give him what we owe him and give
him an added amount.
As he is walking with the zaydib nah
sokhna.
The zaydib nah sokhna, he looks at Omar
and he says, you know who I am?
So Omar radhiyallahu looks at him and he
says, I don't know you. He says, let
me tell you who I am.
I am a Jewish rabbi,
Zayd ibn Sohnah.
I am one of the wealthiest individuals in
Medina.
So Umar looks at him, a man of
your caliber
and you speak to the Nabi of Allah
like that.
So, Umar
looks at him, the Zayd ibn Sohnah,
he tells Umar that I've studied the biography
of Muhammad
he says I was convinced
beyond a shadow of doubt
that he was the final messenger of Allah,
but I had reservation
in 2 qualities.
I had reservation
in 2 qualities,
which I have read in the previous divine
scriptures.
That the final prophet,
the more you inside him, the more calm
he becomes.
The more you provoke him, the more composed
he becomes.
I say, oh, Omar,
I have come to test those two qualities
in Muhammad,
and I say without a shadow of doubt,
he is the final message of Allah.
He recites the shahada,
and then he tells Omar
that I am one of the wealthiest individuals
in Madinah.
Islam.
I don't want 1 cent in return.
Take half my wealth
and give it to Islam.
Take half my wealth and give it to
Islam. My brothers and my sisters,
what did it take to impress a Jewish
rabbi
of the beauty of Islam?
It was that character of Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam. You know, I always say this,
these differences of opinion,
you know, it happened from time in memorial.
It happens this day. It will continue,
you know, to happen till the end of
time, but it is that character.
It is that character
like the scholars and the have explained
that. That today
this of the Nabi of Allah, it is
in writings, it is in books.
If only you and I can stand up
to the test of time, like one example,
you know, I mentioned it previously as well.
They say one day there was the scholar,
the salim. So he sends the pulpit on
a Friday and addressing the congregants,
and he said my brothers, I've got 2
messages for you. I've got good news and
I've got bad news.
The good news is
we now have sufficient funds to complete the
masjid project.
That's the good news.
Now comes the bad news.
The bad news is the money is still
in your pockets.
I say as Muslims,
we have good news and we have bad
news.
The good news is
we have that formula,
we have the recipe,
we have that prescription
to rescue the broader world
from the mayhem and the anarchy and the
difficulties
it is experiencing,
but Allah forbid this formula is in our
masajid.
This formula is on the tongues of orators.
This formula is on our bookshelves.
If only you and I can stand up
to the test of time
and revive the exemplary
character of the Nabi of Allah and manifest
the impeccable
qualities of the Nabi of Allah. You will
see what impact this will have on the
broader worlds. So really my brothers and my
sisters, it is that character. You know there
is a scholar from America. I know when
he had visited Durban some years ago,
Sheikh Siraj Waaj and he made mention of
this in one of his lectures
and he says that, you know, there was
the scholar, there was this alim
who was putting together his lecture
and, his son was next to him and
his son was interjecting. I mean, kids are
kids. You know, you give them this cell
phone, they want the real one. You give
them the real one, not dad, the one
you are using. I mean, kids are kids
today. So deciding things to himself, I need
to gather my thoughts and put together this
this Jumwa lecture.
So what he does, he finds a magazine
and he finds the map of the worlds.
So he tears the page off and he
cuts it up into a puzzle, Africa, Asia,
China, Europe, whatever it is. And then he
tells his son, put the puzzle together. At
least I would have a half an hour
to gather my thoughts and put together this
lecture. 5 minutes down the line,
the son comes back. He said, dad, the
puzzle is done.
So the father says, 5 minutes,
subhanallah.
So this young boy looks at his dad
and he said don't look at the map
of the worlds,
look behind the map. It was the picture
of a man. I put the head in
place. I put the eyes in place. I
put the nose in place. I put the
arms in place. I put the feet in
place. The father says, my boy, you have
taught me the greatest lesson of life.
When man comes together,
despite his differences, the world will come in
order.
When man comes together,
the world will come in order. And this
is the cry. This is the cry. The
rabbi of Allah,
he pointed to the moon and he split
the moon. Allah forbid,
today we're using the same moon to split
the ummah.
Do you today we're using the same moon
to split the ummah. So really friends and
elders, you know, we could go on and
on and on. You know, when we open
the books of ahadith, the wealth of knowledge,
you know, there is contained within the books
of ahadith, you know, with regards to this
particular aspect and that is the character of
the Nabi of Allah. You know, there was
one person
by the name of Al Kamab al Harith.
At the time of accepting Islam,
he comes to the Nabi of Allah sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam and he describes those qualities
that were found in the pagan Arabs prior
to Islam.
And Nabi alaihis salam was totally impressed.
Nabi alaihis salam was totally impressed,
and one of those qualities was
When you give a person your word,
honor your word,
Always speak that which is upright.
Speak the truth whether in your marriage, in
your home.
Speak that which is true.
After that which is upright,
after that which is true. You know, there
is an amazing narration recorded
when
when he was migrating
with his father from Makkah to Al Mukarama
to Madinah to Al Munawara,
his migration
coincided
with the Battle of Badr. Nabi alaihi salam
was mobilizing
the Sahaba,
you know, and to embark on,
the battle of Badr.
So as Hoseifa and his father Al Yaman
left from Makkatul Mukarama,
they were intercepted by Abu Jahl.
Abu Jahl feared that if he releases Josefa
and his father Al Yaman,
they will fight against the Muslim against the
people of Mecca in the battle of Badr.
So he tells Josefa, I will not release
you. Long story short, Josefa
he manages to convince Abu Jahl that I
give you my word
that release me. I will not fight against
your people in the battle of Badar.
So he gives him his word. Abu Jahl
somehow he was convinced,
and he releases Josefa and his father Al
Yamane.
As he's about to approach Madinah Murowara, the
Nabi of Fallah is marching towards Badr.
So Josefa Al Yamane, he tells the Nabi
of Fallah, could I join you? Rabi alaihi
salam said by all means. And as they
are walking towards Badr, Josefa radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu,
he tells the Nabi of Allah
that my father and I were intercepted by
Abu Jahl and Abu Jahl feared that I
will join the ranks of the Muslims
and fight against these people in a battle
of Badr,
and I mentioned to him that I give
you my word, I will not fight against
your people. Nabi ali salam said, hosaifa,
the word that you had given Abu Jahl,
it is binding.
You cannot join us.
Hosaifa
does not enjoy the rank of being a
Badri Sahabi.
Why the word he had given to Abu
Jahl? It was binding.
It was binding. This was who was Abu
Jahl? He was the firaoun of this ummah,
but Hoseifa,
the word you gave to Abu Jahl, it
is
binding. You cannot join us in the battle
of Badr. My brothers, it is that character.
You know, the Nabi of Allah one day,
you know, he's herding a flock of goats
and sheep, you know, in a valley. There
was one person by the name of Safwan
bin Umayyah,
and he looks at this flock of goats
and sheep and the b'alice salam said you
like what you see He said, of course,
I like what I see, you know, somebody's
driving a smart car and a youngster goes
close to the car He say listen my
boy, don't go any closer. Don't go any
closer. Don't touch So, Nabi alaihis salam said
you like what you see. He said of
course I like what I see. Nabi alaihis
salam said don't just like it. I gift
it to
you. I gift it to you. He becomes
so impressed
he goes to his nation
and he says,
Oh, people by Allah,
go and accept Islam.
I promise you this man, Muhammad,
has not come to take away anything from
you. He has come to give you everything.
That was the Rabi of Allah, sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam. My brothers and my sisters, there's
so much more we could have shared with
you. We make dua to the almighty Allah
on this momentous occasion,
of this project, put barakah in this, all
those that have passed on, like they say
in English,
that plant a seed
for others to benefit from the shade later
on. Those that have passed on, they have
planted the seeds that we are seeing the
benefits of this today. You
know, for all those that have passed on
accepted, crowned it to an acceptance,
and, like I said, give this institution
your full support. Give it your full support
financially. Let us make a lot of dua.
Accept these. Like I always say that these
madaris,
these are forts that insulate our children
that protect the iman of our children. In
fact, was mentioning earlier on that youngster who
had recited the,
you know, when he came to this institution,
then he started from and
inshallah tomorrow he would be graduating
