Mufti Menk – Those who say follow Qur’an only

			Salam aleikum. There is a group of people who say, just follow the Koran. There is no need to follow
the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and his Sunnah. Well, I've always said that if you were to
follow the Koran correctly, it would definitely lead you to following the Prophet Muhammad peace be
upon him. After all, he is the one who was entrusted to bring us the Koran. So if we do have the
Quran, we're actually
		

			accepting it from him. So Allah now I draw your attention to many verses of the Quran, where Allah
subhanho wa Taala clearly says, whatever the messenger has given you take it while Mater como
rasuluh or manakamana movento whatever he has instructed you take it and whatever he has prohibited,
and stop it considering prohibited and that is referring to the Hadith. Now, one might argue, well,
the Hadith are divided into that which is authentic and not, it's a study, we need to study it. If
it's proven to you that this is an authentic hadith, then you need to know that we have to take it.
So one of the most explicit or clear verses of the Koran that are actually a warning from Allah
		

			subhanho wa Taala where he states and this is very beautiful towards the end of sorbitol Azzam.
Allah subhanho wa Taala says about those who will regret on the Day of Judgment. And Allah subhanho
wa Taala says Yama, Toka lebu home finance. Now this is a very
		

			vivid description of hellfire. And Allah says on that day, a certain category of people, their faces
will be turning in Hellfire, Yamato Kala boo Humphrey Now, what will they be saying? Yoko Luna la

			Oh, we hope that we followed, we wish that we had followed the Allah and we wish that we had
followed the messenger. Notice how these two are mentioned separately. It was easy to say we wish we
had followed Allah.
		

			It was also easy to say we wish we had followed Allah and the messenger. But in fact, Allah chose
for there
		

			in the verse to be mentioned how they would say, we wish that we had followed Allah and we wish that
we had followed the messenger. So the term followed is repeated twice, you follow Allah and you
follow the messenger? Yeah, coluna la Tana, Atlanta, la Atlanta Rasulullah. We wish that we had
followed Allah and had followed his messenger. So from this also, we learn that to follow the
messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, in his ways, in his instructions in his sayings and
statements in the Hadith that is authenticated, is actually a duty unto Muslims. And if you're a
Muslim, you should be following the Quran in such a beautiful way that it would lead you
		

			automatically to following the authentic teachings of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. I do
admit that there are some fabrications, but it's quite easy to pick those out, especially nowadays.
And there are some weaker durations. And there are some durations that perhaps are unacceptable or
change that are broke. Yes, they're quite easily identified. And Subhanallah we can discount them or
we can learn about why it's done. But we cannot reject in totality, the Hadith of the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi Salaam because the Quran itself tells us in many places, that you have to follow
Allah and you have to follow the messenger peace be upon him. Yeah, are you and leadin Amano aqui en
		

			la? What are three oh Rasulullah it's a very clear verse. Oh you who believe follow Allah and follow
His Messenger. If it was only the word of Allah that was to be followed, he would not have said and
follow the messenger. Similarly, if we don't want to follow the messenger, then why follow the
Quran. That Quran was brought to us by the same messenger that you don't want to follow. So you have
to follow Allah subhanho wa Taala in terms of the word given to us as a word of Allah subhanho wa
Taala. And we follow also what the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him taught us in terms of
explanation of that or on and in terms
		

			of authentic narration. May Allah subhanho wa Taala help us distinguish between right and wrong
		

			and may He help us distinguish between that which is authentic and that which is not authentic. And
then May He grant us the ability to practice upon and to follow that which is actually beautiful and
