Assalamu
alaikum.
Allahu Akbar.
Allahu
Akbar,
We start out by praising Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala, the one who is worthy of all
of our praise and our gratitude is Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
who guides us to the path which is
pleasing to us which is pleasing to him.
We then send peace and blessings to the
prophet
the one that was sent as a mercy
to mankind as a mercy to the world,
who taught us how to worship Allah
and how to interact with one another. We
then send peace and blessing upon the companions
of Rasoolallah
and his family members, those who helped him
aided him, umabah thereafter.
In our life, when we look at
success,
and we try to gauge,
am I successful? And this is a very
difficult question because
the answer is tough.
And it's tough for a few reasons. Number
1,
the gauging metrics
of success
sometimes is incorrect.
And number 2, the answer itself is a
tough pill to swallow.
Usually, when we think about success, 2 things
come to mind. And number 1 is, of
course, wealth.
How much money do I have?
For the past 30 years of my life,
the past 40, 50 years of my life,
if I were to put a price tag
on it, what would that price tag look
like?
A $400,000
house,
a $50,000
car,
maybe
a few 1,000 in my bank account. Is
that the value of my life?
And now this becomes
a constant chase where
to increase the value of your life, you
you chase after wealth.
I have, the more justification
of my success
I can present to myself.
And then number 2, the second way that
we gauge success is through our relationships,
our children,
our family,
and relationships
not just by blood, but even relationships
of our friends and the people that
I influence or I interact with.
People that follow me.
We look at the number of followers you
have on social media, and people actually present
this. I have
this many followers.
This is who I am, and this shows
you the success level that I'm at.
But the difficult part about these two things,
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, when he talks about
wealth and he talks about your relationships,
his language for these two things are not
of success.
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala when he talks about
these two things, the language is a little
bit different, and he describes them with 2
different words.
He says,
your wealth
and your children.
They
are of
this dunya.
They beautify this dunya. They make this place
more enjoyable.
Another place in the Quran, Allah subhanahu refers
to them and he says that they are
a test.
Sometimes the test can be good and sometimes
the test can be bad, but he mentioned
that both of these,
your wealth and your relationships,
your family,
There are a zina and as well as
they are a test from Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala. And if we dive into this a
little bit further,
the word zina where something is beautiful. They
beautify our, you know, you have a nice
house. You have a nice car. You have
money.
This can make life comfortable. And number 1,
acknowledging
the beauty of this thing. You see something
beautiful, and immediately you say,
You acknowledge beauty.
But the
the weird thing of beauty is that beauty
can be
a deception.
Because
as we all know, beauty doesn't last.
Something that's beautiful today,
tomorrow it loses beauty, and it's gone.
There's a narration that talks about the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam's mother as she's passing
away, and the final word that she gives
to him. And she says to him that
every new thing
becomes old.
Everything that has beauty,
solely solely
it weathers away.
A car that used to be in a
showroom today, today they won't even
put it into a junkyard.
You know what? Give it for free. There's
no value to it.
A person that was strong yesterday, today they're
weak.
A person that was extremely beautiful yesterday, today
that beauty is gone. And what we learn
is this clothes that we bought for a
100 of dollars,
today they're worth nothing.
And that's where you understand that beauty the
deception is beauty is that we think that
beauty will last, and that's why Allah Subhanahu
Wa'ala doesn't put success
in line with
beauty. Why? Because beauty will leave.
The second weird thing about beauty or the
second deception of beauty
is something that may seem beautiful to you.
In reality,
might be harmful to you.
A person looks at their relationships that they
have,
a relationship with their spouse,
and their spouse,
again, the beauty that they bring into
your life,
it can be unmatched.
A righteous spouse can either lift you up
in the eyes of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
encourage you, and that's why the prophet he
describes
your relationship with your spouse marriage as half
of your iman.
But that same marriage
and that same spouse
can then
be the means of your downfall as well.
The wealth that can beautify your dunya, it
can destroy your dunya.
So you have this deception that something may
look beautiful and may look attracting,
but when you get to it, it may
When you come close, it is the opposite.
It's dangerous for you.
For example, in this dunya, you get like
animals and frogs that look so beautiful, but
if you were to touch it, the venom
is to kill you.
And so every beautiful thing isn't necessarily
beneficial,
and that's what Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'am describing
your wealth
and your relationship that, yes. They may be
beautiful, but
you have to learn to maneuver through it.
Why? Because
it can be harmful.
And the second word that Allah Subhana uses,
fitna. He
says that this is a test. And the
test of wealth and children, the test of
wealth and relationships
more than just children, but relationships
and fame
is that a person is tested with it
and a person is tested without it.
When Allah
gives you wealth and then when Allah gives
you fame, it's a test of how you
maneuver and what it does to your relationship
with Allah
So many times we see people that
are
connected to Allah, but then money comes into
their life, and that person changes.
You see people that were really good people,
but then when money comes into your life,
they change.
When fame comes into their life,
this person was a very friendly person that
gave everybody time. But now that this person
has some fame,
they can't make time for people.
But then you flip that over, Allah Subhana
also test a person that he doesn't give
it to.
Somebody that doesn't have wealth, that person is
tested as well.
A person that doesn't have fame, that person
is tested.
And the test is that the absence or
the presence of these 2, how does it
affect your relationship with Allah
The increase of wealth
and the increase of fame doesn't have an
effect on your relationship with Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala.
And the reality is,
sometimes with our relationship with Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala, we're like a little toddler.
Asks me for something, and
I give it to him, he responds back
by saying, you're the best in the world.
And if I don't give it to him,
he runs through his mother.
And I look at that
mindset of a little child, and I think
to myself, this is the same mindset that
I have with Allah
That when Allah gives me something,
my relationship increases my
my strength of my relationship increase Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala. And when Allah doesn't give it
to me, I turn to other means.
My wealth,
my family, I turn to other means to
gain that same thing.
That verily the believers are successful.
And this part right here, this ayah, this
first ayah,
before we go into the description, and today
we're only gonna touch on one of these
points.
But the first part where Allah says,
number 1, to be truly successful in this
dunya,
it has to start from here.
It has to start with your belief in
Allah
Now belief in Allah is not just
That gets you into the gates,
but then working on that iman,
working on that belief
is the next step.
And we learned that the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam so many times, he says that
a person that doesn't do this, they're not
a true believer. And a person that does
this, they're not a true believer. And the
question is, does this person lead the folds
of Islam? The answer is no, but their
iman is still weak.
Rasool
Allah says You are not a believer until
you love for your brother or you love
for yourself. Meaning that your iman,
it needs to be worked on. So Allah
says, you are not a believer until you
do not subdue your desires to what I
have brought.
What I have given you the Quran and
the Hadith until you do not subdue your
desire to that, your iman is still incomplete.
It requires
some work. Here Allah
says, The truly successful people are the people
that believe remember this belief will have levels.
And as
you work on that belief, and as you
work on that iman, you begin to climb
the ladder of success.
And then Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in the
next verse, he talks about
how to gain that success.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says,
those believers
that when they pray,
when they stand in front of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala, they have.
They they have concentration.
A person said that the concept of Khushu
and Sala is something new.
I don't understand it. It's
it's foreign concept
that to concentrate and to be present like
that. And I said that the answer was
actually the opposite. Was taught to us from
day 1.
When
you
walked
into 1st grade, when you walked into kindergarten,
the teacher said to you, give me your
undivided
attention.
She asked for Khushu.
When you sat behind the wheel with your
father for the first time driving and you
put that key in, and your father said,
better concentrate.
Focus.
He was asking for
When you're at home with your spouse and
your spouse says, can you please put the
phone away and talk with me? Concentrate. She's
asking for
So the concept of is it's not nothing
new,
but in every aspect of our life. And
the beautiful part about is that
wherever you bring it, it will only beautify
the action. Of course,
is at a different level, but in everything
that you do, it will beautify the concentration
that you put in, the undivided
attention that you give. An example of this
is, tonight, when you go home, you may
spend an hour with your children.
Tonight when you go home you may spend
an hour with your children,
but the hour with your children
will vary based off of your.
If the whole time your mind is preoccupied
with something else, and you're thinking about something
else, it's like a person that's standing in
front
of Allah but the mind is somewhere else.
That bond that you build with your child
will still be, you know, unfortunately
weak. But if that same amount of time
you drop everything and you give your concentration
to your child,
it's like when we pick up our children,
we ask the same
meaningless questions. How was how was your day?
Good. What do you learn? Stuff. You make
any friends? No. Okay. Here
now. So you're in the you're in that
moment, but you're not in that moment. You're
doing it. You left work to come pick
up your child. You drove. You stood in
that pickup line, but you're not actually doing
it. So you're in that
You stood in that pickup line, but you're
not actually doing it.
Similarly,
right now in this masjid,
we have 3 to 400 people in.
But the reality is not everybody is gonna
leave those doors with the same experience.
The experience that you have will be based
upon
one of the factors will be
your.
That when we pray salah,
after we say,
people will leave here with a different experience.
You will see one person whose iman and
whose experience will be,
you know, elevated.
Coming to Ramadan,
couple of months away,
you will see people that Ramzan will completely
drink, completely squeeze their heart,
and they will have a different effect.
You will pray tarawi next to somebody, but
that person will be completely vibing in the
tarawi and the recitation,
and you're thinking, is it how many records
is this? Is this are we done yet?
How long how much longer? Can we get
the fast reciter?
So you're doing the same act,
but the level of concentration
is what changes
success and the meaning
behind the act. And that's what
is. Is
a factor of 3 different things.
To be present
mind, body, and soul. The absence of any
of these three things,
meaning that Khushu
is not there. Now
So what if Khooshu is on there? Allah
in the Quran says,
may the people who pray be cursed.
Their mind is somewhere else. They're neglectful. Imagine
your child talking to you, but the whole
time they're
not even looking at you. They're playing their
fortnite. They're playing their video game, and you
would say, Britta, focus.
Have some respect.
I'm talking to you.
And similarly,
while we are
standing in front of Allah SubhanAllah and Allah
SubhanAllah is actually talking to us.
And one of these prophets salallahu alayhi wa
sallam says, when you recite the verses of
Surah Fatihah and you say, alhamdulillahirabbalahalim Allah subhanahu
alhamdulillahirabbalahalim Allah subhanahu alhamdulillahalim, Allah subhanahu
alhamdulillahalim,
Allah subhanahu alhamdulillahalim,
my servant has praised me. And when you
say,
he says,
When you say,
That
my servant has glorified me. My servant has
understood who I am. And when you say,
He says,
and give my servant whatever he asks us
for, and we say
to the end of the day.
So you're having a conversation with Allah
and the way that you would feel disrespected
if your child was playing Fortnite, in your
mind, you're actually playing the game of life
while you're standing in front of Allah
And this is why 3 things has to
present.
Number 1,
your mind,
everything else is out.
Now when
you pray, you pray peacefully and calmly. A
person comes into the message of the prophet
and he prays salah and the prophet says
go back and pray
again. It happens 3 times and then
says calm
down.
Don't pray like the chicken that's pecking up
down up down up down. You're not gonna
get the real essence of salah. A salah
like that is actually
a check mark. I've completed my salah. And
unfortunately, there are many of us that are
very punctual in their salah, but for them
their salah is just a check mark. It's
a habit.
And they asked the question that, wait, salah
is supposed to be this really powerful thing
that it doesn't help Allah. It's supposed to
help me. Why? Because Allah
is a samad. He is independent of my
worship. If salah is supposed to help me,
why is it that I pray salah but
nothing happens?
The super effective salah, where is it?
Where where Allah subhanahu wa'ala says
That salah is supposed to stop me from
immoral things, but then I can't stop looking
at immoral things.
Salah is supposed to stop me from sinning,
but I'm not I can't quit sinning.
Maybe something's wrong with Salah.
Maybe all of this is made up, but
the reality is the blame is to put
on upon ourselves
that you're actually reading it wrong. Now, again,
reading it wrong, someone might say, well, am
I supposed to put my hands here or
after Rakul, am I supposed to raise my
hands? And we go into these small arguments
of raising your hand. Is that important? Do
you do this or do you do this
or do you do this?
Don't worry about that.
Worry about this.
Worry about where is your heart in that
moment. Where are your thoughts in that moment?
Is your body in
peace in that moment?
Your body and peace, it's like a person
who's talking to you, but all the whole
time they're fidgety.
They had that fidget spinner, or they're playing
with their fingers, or they're fixing their hijab
constantly. And you're like, you don't want to
just calm down.
Focus.
And this is the same thing that Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is asking us.
And Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Salam.
In one hadees, he makes mention
that a person that prays salah, but there's
absence of hushu.
That person truly hasn't prayed salah.
Their salah is still incomplete.
But now we look at why is
obtaining who show so difficult.
I try
the reality is every single person that prays
salah, they want to benefit from
it. Nobody comes into salah and say, you
know what, I actually don't want to benefit.
We all want to benefit from salah. And
as much as we try to take out
all the thoughts from our mind,
as much we try to focus, it's actually
difficult.
But the reality is, it was never meant
to be easy.
Because when difficult things, when you put yourself
through difficult tasks,
that's when you come out stronger on the
other side.
If you put yourself through easy tasks, let's
say for example, if you were to go
home and you were to sit down with
your child who's in 5th grade, and you
were to do math with them, but the
math that you do with them is 1st
grade math, then what growth would it be?
But if you were to put them through
like Russian math or 5th, 6th, 7th grade
math, and now what they come out with
is a stronger approach.
So when you go through that salah
and you're struggling with your and the reason
for that struggle
is the promise of shaitan made to Allah
That I will come to them from every
direction.
I will come from them from ahead of
them, from behind them, from the right of
them, from the left of them. And very
few of them will be able to keep
themselves safe.
The one that whispers in the heart and
those whispers when you're in salah, those whispers
kick in.
But there's a reason for that.
Why is it that in salah is when
shaitan goes full,
you
know, pedal to the metal?
And the answer to that is, this is
where you're getting closer to Allah
and he doesn't want that. Pray it correctly,
then this will stop you from immoral acts.
This will stop you from sinning. This will
build God consciousness in you,
which will lead to success
Where Allah Subhanahu wa'ala says,
And that's the opposite of what Shaitan wants.
So to summarize today's qibba,
we look at success
through the lens of wealth and relationships.
But Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says these are
zina of this dunya and they're a fitna.
They will make your dunya
seem better, but that beauty is a deception.
It can be a deception.
And that fitna that fitna
is a test.
A test for the person who has it
and the person that doesn't have it. Now,
in this verse, actually Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
says,
it's a zina of this world, not a
zina of the hereafter.
It will make this world seem better,
but not necessarily will it benefit you in
the hereafter. It has the potential.
Your wealth and your children, they have the
potential to make your hereafter
seem better as well. Right way,
by spending your wealth in the correct manner.
But Allah SWANAWA talks about success. He says,
number 1, for success, you have to believe
in Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
But there are different levels of that belief
in Allah.
And the first condition the law puts on
the number one thing, if you want success,
then bring in your
salah. Stop
multitasking.
Anything
that we do, we multitask. Even when you're
watching a
when you're watching
a movie or watching TV,
you ask yourself do I multitask at that
time as well?
I saw somebody
watching something on TV with a tablet and
checking their social media,
and now what you're left with a jack
of all trades
by master of none.
You ask this person what's happening there? What's
happening there? What's happening there? You know, I'm
not really
sure. But that's the way that we've actually,
unfortunately,
trained our brains to be over assimilated.
We're just doing one thing at a time,
seems very difficult.
It seems boring.
So standing in front of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala, when Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is talking
back to us,
It's towards
the reason for that and that reason is
Chetan, because Chetan understands the value of this
a lot and the benefit that you will
take away from it.
And like we said,
everybody praise.
But what they take away from that prayer
is different based off the presence of their
mind, body, and soul.
Brothers and sisters,
in the back, we have a table,
to help you register to vote if you
are a resident here.
You know, your voice matters.
The strength that we have,
if you look at Jumasa La at ICF,
we are one of the very few masjids
that have 3 Jumasa La's. And the reason
is that there's just so many people. All
3 of the salah's have looked back. They
have people all the way to the back,
which means the Muslims have numbers.
And with numbers comes strength.
With numbers comes power.
But that power and strength can only be
useful
if you actually utilize it, and utilizing utilizing
that power and that number
is through our voice.
So, we have a table out in the
back. Again, I highly encourage everybody. I, myself,
I have registered to vote, and so I
do plan to vote because,
this plays a, you know
it makes a difference. Recently,
the
Frisco City Council
allowed us, or you know,
welcomed us to come and present our stories
of our relatives
in Palestine, in
Gaza. But the reason why they allowed that,
the reason why that they entertained that, the
reason why they gave us that stand because
they understand
that the Muslim vote matters.
1000 of Muslims in this city, and the
Muslim vote has power to it. But that
power is only if you utilize it.
It's like you have a very powerful weapon,
but you don't use it.
The prophet
says that
du'a is a weapon. Salah is a weapon.
You can gain a lot from it, but
if you don't use it, it's a waste.
So I highly rec highly encourage everybody on
your way out. Please take some time out
and vote Allah Subhanahu in the Quran. He
tells us and orders that.
Oh, Allah,
we ask for infinite mercy. Oh, Allah, we
ask you have mercy upon our brother and
sister in Gaza. Oh, Allah,
we ask that you fix their matters, oh,
Allah, Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Don't let Ramzan come
that they're in the same situation. Oh, Allah,
Allah before you give them the month of
mercy, oh Allah, we ask that you have
mercy upon them before that and that you
remove this difficulty before that. Oh Allah
they have no door to turn to except
your door. Oh Allah
they have no one to ask
from except from you. Oh Allah we ask
that you grant them success. Oh, Allah Subhanahu
wa'ala, we ask that you grant them ease.
Oh, Allah Subhanahu wa'ala, we
ask that you'd open the eyes of the
Muslim Ummah towards what happened what's happening in
Palestine. Oh, Allah. Let the Muslim countries speak
up and put an end to this. Oh,
Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala. We ask that you
you protect us here in America. Oh, Allah,
subhanahu wa ta'ala. We ask that you give
unity amongst our community. Oh, Allah, subhanahu wa
ta'ala. We ask that you guide our youth.
Oh, Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala. We ask for
actions that bring us close to you. Oh,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. We seek protection from
actions that gain us your your anger or
that you're upset with us. Oh, Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala. We ask for jannah. Oh, Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala be pleased with us. Oh,
Allah be pleased with us. Oh, Allah be
pleased with us.
Allah
Akbar.
Sami Allah,
Huniman Hamida.
