In last night's Tarawee, there were
many verses that we could talk about and
expand.
We read some very powerful Surahs last night.
Of course, we read Surah Haman, and Surah
Haman
is not a 5 minute discussion.
But there's one ayah
that I want to touch upon.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, he repeats this ayah
a few times, and it's not for before
all of us get happy. But another ayah
that Allah repeats a few times is
The Allah
has made the Quran easy.
Is there anybody
that will memorize it?
Is there anybody that will learn it?
Now this verse right here, the reason why
I wanna point it out because
last night, Mufti Wasim talked about how
Lail Duqadr, the night of the power, gets
its virtue
because of the Quran and the meeting of
the heavens and the earth coming together as
1. And this virtue is because of the
Quran. And Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, tells us
that this month of Ramadan gets its virtue
because of the Quran.
And as we struggle in the month of
Ramadan, because we all make a struggle,
coming in to the masjid at 3 AM
is not normal.
We barely are people that can come to
the masjid once a day, Forget about 3
AM at night and standing in salah
for hours
and then waiting to a fudger and then
coming back. This struggle that we're doing and
the connection that we're building with the Quran,
the question comes
that what is the limit and what is
the end of this relationship?
Is the limit of this relationship
the 30th of Ramadan?
That in this month, we read the Quran,
we listened to the Quran, and the Quran
had an effect
on our hearts.
Qari Umer,
Qari Hamza last night, as they're reciting the
verses,
some of us didn't even understand it,
but it hit right here.
Shaykh Fati, as he recites, people come and
say, he speaks to our hearts even though
we don't understand it.
But now the question is,
does
this relationship
end with the ending of Ramadan?
Because Allah subhanahu wa'ala tells us
that he has made this relationship easy for
you to memorize and if you look at
the Quran, we have our hufas,
you know, on the 28th, we'll have these
young boys reciting the Quran in front of
you. 13, 14 year olds,
you know, and these fathers right here that
memorized the whole Quran. And there are people
across the world who are under 10 and
they memorized the whole Quran.
And
we ask ourselves,
what is our relationship
with the words of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala? One hadith comes to mind.
A very beautiful hadith, where the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam says,
a person that reads the Quran, they get
one reward.
A person that reads the Quran, and they
can read it comfortably,
easily, gets one reward.
But a person like you and I
that struggles when they read the Quran,
sometimes we have to use transliteration
because of how hard it is. Sometimes reading
a single page
is 10 minutes, or 20 minutes, or even
more.
Rasulullah
says for that person,
they get 2 rewards.
So usually because of this struggle, we close
the Quran and we say, do you know
what? It's not for me.
I'm not good at this. And we close
it and we put it away. But the
prophet, salallahu alayhi, was saying that look, before
you close it, the struggle that you are
going through right now, as hard as it
is, you're getting double the reward.
And the reality is to get good at
anything,
you have to first build a passion for
it. Sheikh Fatih that recites Quran,
maybe he's naturally gifted, or
he has a passion for Quran. A lot.
Anything that you do in your life,
whether it's school, whether it's work, your career,
you had a passion, and then that passion
became an obsession. And when that obsession
kicked in, that's when it became
your main purpose of life.
You became good at it.
You ask somebody to play soccer, they say
that I play hours and hours. You ask
somebody that codes on a computer, that programs,
you ask anybody what they do and how
much time they put in,
and it's hours and hours and hours
until it becomes an obsession.
They're crazy about it. That's all their mind
thinks about.
And then you ask yourself the question,
have I built the passion for the Quran
in my life?
And if that passion is not there, then
of course I'm gonna struggle.
But La Sapanta is so merciful that he
says that even as you're struggling,
I'm gonna reward you.
And as you get better, and this
relationship gets stronger.
Now, of course, the relationship with the Quran
is just not reading the
Quran. But the relationship of the Quran, we
were talking about 2 days ago, that there
are layers of this relationship. That first you
learn to read the Quran and then
you understand the meaning of the Quran.
And that's where the Quran
truly brings a change into your life. Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala in the Quran,
he says that this is a guidance for
mankind and the only way that you can
take guidance from the Quran is if you
look into the meaning of the Quran.
A lot of times, alhamdulillah, we listen to
the recitation of the Quran, but in my
personal opinion,
as beautiful as a recitation is,
reading the translation
is maybe just as important.
And usually in Ramadan, we try to finish
a recitation of the Quran. We all have
goals that I will try to read the
whole Quran, but then you ask yourself the
question, what about the translation?
Surahman that we read last night.
Surah Yassin.
Surah Mulk.
All of these beautiful
where Allah is speaking to you directly,
but then you have no clue
what Allah is saying.
But Noshal was giving me the example
that it's like you hire somebody to do
some work for you, but they speak another
language.
You tell them to do something, but they
don't understand it.
Allah is telling us to do something, and
we are hearing it, but we don't know
what Allah
is saying. And that's where,
number 1,
in this month of Ramadan,
build
a level of relationship with the Quran that
can last outside
of the month of Ramadan.
When Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala talks about how
much Quran to read,
he didn't say read 1 juz a day.
He didn't say read half a juz a
day.
He says,
Quran.
Read as much as you can.
But have some sort of relationship.
And then after you build that relationship that
you can take outside the month of Ramadan,
it's important that you bring in the meaning
of the Quran, the translation of the Quran.
And once that's done,
then you begin to implement the Quran into
your life.
Where Allah subhanahu wa'ala says
Those who control their angers.
Those who forgive others. And Allah
loves those that do good deeds. You're not
able to implement this into your life that
I have to control my anger. I have
to learn to forgive
my children. I have to learn to forgive,
you know, and let go of the grudges
that I'm holding.
Wallahi hibbul masineem.
So as we come towards the end of
Ramadan,
and in just about a week's time,
we come to a decision
that where does my relationship go from here?
Is my relationship
back on the shelf? We'll see you next
year.
And for so many years, that's what our
relationship with Dequan has been.
App in your phone, after WhatsApp, is the
Quran app. But come next week, how frequent
will you
be
with the app?
Even Siri right now, when you pull down
your notification, it suggests that it will run
to you.
But then slowly, slowly, that will begin to
shift away, and other apps will be placed
with it.
Something else will come, and something else will
come until
we build that passion for the Quran.
This is the words of my lord.
This is the word of
my beloved Allah Subhadah.
One last example.
It's like
a person that's young,
full of passion in their youth.
They love somebody.
And
even a text message from that person
will bring a smile to their face
that my beloved has sent me a text.
And that same
message
is the message Allah
has in front of us.
You know, people ask, how do people enjoy
reading the Quran so much?
How do how can people read Quran for
hours and hours?
When you understand
who
the Quran is from,
who's speaking here,
and your relationship with Allah
becomes strong,
then there's not enough hours in the day.
You can speak to your the person that
you love for hours and hours
until you have to say, you put the
phone down. No, you put the phone down.
No, you put the phone down.
That same passion, imagine having that with the
Quran, where you're like, you wanna should I
close the book? No. Let me read a
little bit more. Should I close the book?
No. Let me read a bit more. And
my eyes are closing, I'm gonna read a
little bit more and see what Allah subhanahu
wa'ala says to me. So in this month
of Ramadan,
learn to build passion for the Quran. Be
a Allah Subhanahu says, I made it easy
for you.
Quran.
I made it easy for you to memorize
the Quran
that a 13 year old, a 14 year
old, a 10 year old could do it.
What about you?
What about a grown man?
If a child can do it,
then you can
build this relationship with the words of Allah
