Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen As-salatu wa as-salamu
ala ashraf al-mursaleen nabiyyina Muhammad wa ala
alihi wa ashabihi ajma'een wa ba'du Allahumma
bima a'allamtana wa zidina a'ilman innaka
Allahumma razuqna al-ikhlasanaka fil-qawli wal-'amala We
have, Alhamdulillah, come to reach Surat al-Dhariyat
Surat al-Dhariyat Surat al-Dhariyat starts in
a new Juz' Okay, so half of it
is in the 26th Juz' and the other
half is in the 27th Juz' So, Insha
'Allah, half way, in a sense, in terms
of volume once we reach half of Surat
al-Dhariyat it means we've almost covered 4
Juz' from the Qur'an Tafsir of 4
Juz' And, SubhanAllah, this Juz' as we said
is the priority among the early generations Correct?
What is it called from Surat Qaf to
Surat An-Nas?
What is the name of this part of
the Qur'an?
Put your hand up if you know We
said it many times That shows who was
present and who was absent, mentally What is
the name of the last part of the
Qur'an from Surat Qaf to Surat An
-Nas?
In the past, children, that's what they would
know first, before anything else and that's what
they would memorize, that's what they would learn
before they move on to anything else Why?
Because it's a summary of the whole Qur
'an It's like the juice of the Qur
'an, all of it is found in Al
-Mufassal Yes, excellent, the sisters beat the brothers
today, Masha'Allah Al-Mufassal Al-Mufassal Don't
forget, Al-Mufassal is from pretty much Surat
Qaf until Surat An-Nas and that's a
priority, that's what the scholars would teach first
that's what the students would memorize and learn
first before they move on to other surahs
and the Qur'an is divided into categories
Insha'Allah one day we can mention them
So, Surat Al-Dhariyat and obviously from the
verses, from the topics it is Surah Makkiyah,
it was revealed before Hijrah We will read
Insha'Allah and we will comment as needed
Imam Abdul Rahman Al-Sa'di said, may Allah
have mercy on him Explanation of Surah Al
-Dhariyat, which is Makkiyah I seek refuge with
Allah from the accursed Satan In the name
of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate Al-Dhariyat
is Dharwa Al-Hamilat is Wiqra Al-Jariyat
is Yusra Al-Muqassimat is Amra Innama tuAAaduna
la saadiq wa inna al-deena la waqi'
This is an oath from Allah, the Truthful,
in His saying about these great creatures in
which Allah has made benefits and benefits what
made His promise to be true and that
the religion which is the Day of Recompense
and the reckoning of deeds is a reality,
no doubt It has no motive So, when
the Great Truthful told him and swore upon
him and established evidences and proofs upon him
emphasize it why?
you add emphasis so that hopefully they would
with the emphasis it the strength doubles so
you use either an oath or you use
for example inna right?
emphatic words la right?
لَقَادِرُونَ la lam the lam letter as well
in the Arabic language sometimes comes for emphasis
so you use an oath or other linguistic
tools to emphasize when when the matter is
important it's significant and there is doubt there
is doubt so you're trying to repel the
doubt in the listener by using these tools
of emphasis so that's why Allah SWT uses
Allah swears an oath in the Quran so
Allah uses or Allah use or swears an
oath by reference to some of His great
creation وَالذَّارِيَاتِ ذَرْوَى okay so Allah SWT does
not refer to the wind by its own
name but by its description this is an
adjective ذاريات ذروا the name is what الريح
or الريح which is wind wind but ذاريات
is a description that's a function that the
wind does or a feature of the wind
it blows things away that's what a ذاريات
is in the Quran تَذَرُوهُ الْرِيَاح right so
the actions of the disbelievers on the day
of judgment will be like dust blown by
the wind تَذَرُوهُ الْرِيَاح right okay so وَالذَّارِيَاتِ
Allah says Allah talks about the wind
as they blow things away and that refers
to the wind and that refers to the
air itself air itself it's such a magnificent
creation because it's very soft invisible and seemingly
weak yet it's very powerful it's very powerful
so take an example you know the power
with the power of wind you can actually
cut stone right if you put so much
pressure on wind on air and it can
take so much pressure and release it you
can actually cut through stone and metals by
means of wind the same applies to water
as well tyres tyres are filled with what?
wind this very soft delicate material that's invisible
right yet subhanAllah it's still very powerful it
can carry tons it can carry actually tens
of it can carry great weight still still
that's a magnificent creation from Allah subhanahu wa
again he says here السحب right السحاب yes
he says the clouds Allah doesn't refer to
them as السحاب he refers to them by
what?
by a feature of them by a function
which is they carry they carry what?
the clouds carry what?
moisture moisture water so subhanAllah this heavy water
is carried by the wind right it's carried
above the wind it flies in the air
it flies in the air and it's carried
with something that seems to be without weight
right they're floating in the air the clouds
yet the rain that falls from them is
quite heavy and when it falls in great
abundance it could be a force of destruction
subhanAllah that's great creation of Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala you think you can understand and
grasp something one of the creation of Allah
but it surprises you in many ways and
those who study physics the nature of things
physics chemistry and even biology are always surprised
by the nature of things no matter how
much you learn about something still you know
some of its features will new features new
discovered features will surprise you why?
because that's the magnificent creation of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala and Allah says وَمَا أُوتِيتُم
مِّنَ الْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا and the knowledge you've
been given is very little is very little
but subhanAllah humans they have this blindness once
you know something new right you think oh
that's it like there's nothing beyond that one
of the funny things you know in 1917
no 1916 in the USA the patent office
what's the patent office?
is where you register new discoveries right so
there was in the past few decades just
prior to that there were a lot of
discoveries so they discovered the telephone right telecommunication
they discovered no a form of communication is
it telegram?
was it telegram?
yeah the telegram they discovered the light bulb
and things like that started to put there
were a lot of discoveries and inventions and
things like that so the head of the
patent office in 1916 in the USA he
actually submitted a formal application to the American
Congress to close the patent office why?
because he said everything that could possibly be
invented has already been invented for them like
they saw they were at the at the
peak of civilization and there was nothing beyond
that now we look at them as so
backward right but that's humans we today have
the same sense by the way we experience
the same we think oh like we have
reached the peak of knowledge there is much
more you don't know and a lot of
what you will come to know will offset
what you know so be humble as a
human being okay وَالْحَامِلَاتِ وِقْرَى so these carriers
right they are they're going to offload this
this water that is going to benefit the
land why did he say وِقْرَى وِقْرَى again
wallahu alams from وَقَارَى قَرَّى which again the
root in the Arabic language this means to
settle to settle what does that mean the
water that falls the rain that falls from
the clouds they are the carriers falls down
gets absorbed by the land and then gets
stored in inner tanks inside the earth and
it rests it rests it becomes underground water
وِقْرَى okay so it settles it settles and
becomes stable there and it's stored وَالْحَامِلَاتِ وَقْرَى
وَالْجَارِيَاتِ يُسْرَى وَالْجَارِيَاتِ الجاريات from جَرَى what is
جَرَى جَرَى to run yes the verb to
run or to happen
what happened right so to run for things
to happen for things to run and keep
going right so الجاريات what is الجاريات the
floating ones that keep running what are these
things scholars have differed even the companions have
differed what is الجاريات because Allah does not
name them Allah gives a description الجاريات here
as Ibn Sa'di says these are the stars
that are floating in the earth in the
skies they are floating in their orbits okay
so they are they're not fixed they're not
static they're moving around right some other scholars
even among the companions they said والجاريات they
are the ships in the ocean the ships
in the ocean because they float and they
travel and this applies to every vehicle you
know humans are inspired to invent so Allah
is telling us this is all from the
signs of Allah subhana wa ta'ala even
when you call it a human invention you
know and we mentioned that a few times
you know we humans get arrogant we think
oh we invented that it's creativity no you
don't create it from nothing what you do
physically and what you produce mentally ideas that
you call creativity right is the creation of
Allah and is inspiration from Allah subhana wa
ta'ala we humans have nothing of our
own we have nothing of our own everything
we have and we claim to ourselves is
something that we have borrowed it's a loan
but again subhanallah we humans love to claim
it to ourselves so Allah subhana wa ta
'ala before creating us he already planned that
he would teach humans how to make ships
how to make cars how to make carts
how to create and come up with these
ideas and make them as rockets and so
on and so forth before our creation so
how come it's our invention right so it's
good to stay humble when it comes to
these things والمقسمات أمر المقسمات the dividers
قسم or قسم verb means to divide right
قسم means department or a part قسم right
مقسمات is a doer right that means that
they divide or they organize because when you
run things when you want to manage something
you divide it you break it down you
don't take it as a whole you don't
take it on as a whole you divide
it so you can conquer it so you
can manage it you can keep it under
control so that's a great part of management
a great in management a great part is
to be able to separate okay and bring
things together when needed okay that's a very
important art in management sometimes you need to
treat things separately and sometimes you need to
bring things together either completely or some things
some of the things you bring them together
and you leave off some other things this
is called this is part of management so
the angels the angels Allah entrusted them with
tasks and responsibilities so in order to manage
this what they do they divide they conquer
things they manage them they move them they
move bits and pieces around so they manage
them okay this is why he says التدبير
التدبير interesting comparison between the Arabic language before
and the Arabic language today and how it
is used how do we translate management today
in the Arabic language management manager what's the
word for it إدارة إدارة إدارة إدارة from
the verb the مضارع يدير إدارة okay to
manage things Arabs for the most part did
not for the most part did not use
this verb in this sense they use they
used إدارة to actually handle something manual and
simple something manual and simple it basically means
to do إدارة because basically where it comes
from one of the common sources or the
common usages of the word إدارة يدير you
know the stone mill because it goes in
circle so يدير is actually you're moving it
in circles that's where إدارة is and today
you'll find in Algeria and I think in
Morocco I'm not sure they would say about
you doing something or making something إدير وش
الدير وش الدير what are you doing what
are you making what are you cooking إدير
لقهوة right so we'll make coffee for you
so it was that's closer to the original
to the older original language so did the
Arabs have management before or not actually the
Arabs and the Muslims the Muslims primarily in
general they excelled in management and one of
the great leaders in management one of the
great personalities in management in the history of
Islam was obviously Omar Ibn Khattab as the
Prophet ﷺ says
I haven't seen someone with his genius ability
and capacity to manage things but also Muawiyah
kind of revolution he brought to governance and
leadership is mind-blowing is unbelievable his ability
to bring things together and to invent new
tools was phenomenal and it played a major
role in the expansion of the Muslim Ummah
during the during his Khilafah before and after
before he became the Khalifa and even after
he became the Khalifa so he was a
genius real genius this is why the Arabs
Muawiyah is from
the genius individuals rare genius individuals in the
history of the Arabs because his origin is
from Quraish so what was the word so
the Muslims were very good at managing in
governance managing things projects etc what was it
called if you if you can get it
you'll get a gift what did they refer
to management there are books written using this
word in the title and it was used
no don't look don't use your phones by
the way don't use your phones if you
don't know you just don't know okay if
you get it from the from online you
know Google gets the gift huh you lost
it right so what was that word that
they used in the past if you know
put your hand up so we'll give you
a fair chance inshallah and there's you don't
lose anything by getting it wrong by the
way if you have a good guess so
brothers how many hands we have one two
sisters nothing okay one sister okay so we'll
give the sister the priority because they already
beat you to one yes what is it
huh mudir mudir is taken from idara so
manager still that's the English influence on the
Arabic language so we want what's the word
that they used that the Arabs and the
Muslims used before that so there were two
hands Muhammad and Abdul Ghaffar okay I saw
Abdul Ghaffar first so I'll give you a
chance it was not from Google right okay
D1 huh D1 no D1 is more like
the archive or the registrar office you know
the registrar office the government archives that's the
D1 where they keep all the files the
paperwork that's the D1 which is actually a
Persian word so the Arabs borrowed that from
Persian I thought you were going to get
it but you didn't hukum means governance in
general but we are talking about the art
of managing things and handling them skillfully okay
so a third chance after that gift is
lost okay qiyada is actually another plagued word
that we picked up from English because they
said leadership qiyada in the Arabic language how
the Arabs used it I can't even say
its meaning it's inappropriate now they use it
to refer to leadership but actually if you
read books of fiqh sometimes you will find
that they talk about a very bad social
disease very very bad social disease they talk
about it that it's haram and they call
it qiyada okay so when you're reading and
again like your field of study my field
of study is leadership so I was studying
and I was I find leadership in the
books of fiqh and it's haram so so
qiyada is another problematic word there's no gift
anymore but did you have a try no
okay go ahead is it yudawin huh yudawin
yudawin no no no no okay I'll give
it to you al-tadbeer it's already there
tadbeer dabara yudabiru tadbeeran this is why the
books on leadership and government in the muslim
tradition are called al-tadbeer al-tadbeer okay
al-tadbeer you'll find the word al-tadbeer
today what do they use it for home
management tadbeer al-bayt tadbeer al-manzin okay
since we are in old and old arabic
and new arabic the natural sciences like physics
chemistry although like chemistry by the way was
there even from the old days but it
was alchemy the alchemy among the arabs but
it referred to something else okay it referred
to something that has to do with black
magic and jinn right and spirits but what
is what did the arabs use in the
past for and you will find it in
the books a lot when they referred to
natural sciences today we say physics or natural
sciences or the study of nature what did
they argue you'll find it for example ibn
kathir in his book bidaya wal nihaya and
even in his tafsir you'll find it very
often when natural when celestial bodies are mentioned
he would refer he would mention this word
okay the natural sciences or physics so that
you come across this in any arabic book
you know you know what they're talking about
because i remember when i was young i
would read this and i'd say what does
this even mean and i had some fancy
ideas about what it meant but eventually alhamdulillah
i figured out no it was talking it
was referring to physics so who knows i
know this is a difficult one but sisters
or brothers anyone would have a try brothers
natural sciences english translation refers
to those who studied nature those who studied
celestial bodies astronomy the divine bodies sorry.
the celestial bodies they tried to figure out
the planets the stars what they are what
they're made of the distances the calculations they
tried to understand the nature of clouds the
nature of you know celestial bodies what they're
made of right the distances what is the
skies that space what is it made of
they had theories by the way and they
had very sophisticated studies this was called ilmul
hayya which is the structure of the universe
al hayya is the structure the study of
the structure of the universe the architecture of
the universe macro and micro okay so it's
called ilmul hayya okay let's move on so
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala talks about the
angels and the angels organize the world why?
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala entrusted them with
these things why doesn't Allah do things himself
that's how Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala designed
this universe that's how Allah if Allah wants
all he says be right and he becomes
Allah doesn't need helpers Allah doesn't need assistants
he doesn't need agents but for our own
sake Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala entrusted tasks
with agents angels and things natural forces okay
and by the way I'm digressing a lot
today but I hope it's helpful this is
maybe take you out of the modern world
a little bit give you a taste of
how the world was before and it's intelligent
the way they looked at the world is
different Ibn Taymiyyah has a beautiful statement he
move in the upper world which is the
skies and the lower world which is the
earth the source of it is love that's
Ibn Taymiyyah when I call him romantic I
call him romantic he says
there is nothing static that becomes dynamic and
nothing dynamic becomes comes to a stand still
because what you see the movements of the
natural bodies or the natural creation the natural
forces is in reality an effect of the
actions of the angels so what we call
laws of physics they are not inherent forces
in these bodies or in the atoms or
in the in the in the structure of
things it's not innate that is the action
of the angels in the background completely different
worldview right completely different worldview so just an
example if you talk about gravity why when
you hold something like that it falls down
obviously right it's the earth is a magnet
and it pulls things to its center right
that's gravity where did this pull come from
why would something pull oh because there is
you know positive charges negative charges electrons and
atoms and eventually there is an overall charge
so that creates a pull and it pulls
things to the center that's what you managed
to reach what is behind that what gives
a negative charge that pull or a positive
charge that pull what gives it that pull
dig deeper the reality is you will find
and Ibn Taymiyyah interestingly he actually quotes Surat
Al Dariyat there and he quotes some other
verses where Allah mentions the angels and how
Allah entrusted them with managing the world ok
but this is an invisible world this is
an invisible world for us but again when
we are trained in a secular way it's
very hard for us to believe this sounds
like a little too far you're pushing it
too far with this no no we just
came to accept because we were told from
a young age this is how things work
positive negative charge right and that's what creates
attraction and so on and so forth the
power of this power of gravity right and
these natural forces but eventually these are the
actions of the angels and they are consistent
they are consistent because Allah made them consistent
in this way ok so enough digressions let's
get back to it و السماء let's read
By the heaven
with its tracks that is the sky with
tracks that look like the ripples made on
sand or water by the wind Verily you
who reject Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم are
confused in your beliefs For some of you
say that he is a magician some say
that he is a soothsayer some say that
he is a madman and various other statements
that are indicative of their confusion and doubt
and that what they follow is false because
of which those who are diverted away from
the truth are diverted that is they are
diverted from faith and from the evidence and
proof of Allah that gives certainty The differences
in their views indicate that they are flawed
and false By the same token the fact
that the truth brought by Muhammad صلى الله
عليه وسلم is harmonious in that some parts
of it confirm others and there are no
differences or flaws in it indicates that it
is sound and that it is from Allah
If it had been from any one other
than Allah, they would surely have found therein
many contradictions Before we get into this there
was a part that Shaykh Ibn Sa'di did
not comment on which is
Indeed what you are promised because that's the
oath all of these oaths, one after the
other what is their impact?
What does Allah say?
Allah says what you are promised is truthful
it's inevitable, it's going to happen صادق صدق
in the Arabic language means an accurate reflection
a perfect match that's what صدق means this
is why it means what's in your heart,
what's on your tongue and the truth are
matching that's what صدق is, truthfulness so, what
you are promised is going to happen it
will inevitably happen, there is no doubt about
this so the promise will match the reality,
the inevitable reality وَإِنَّ الدِّينَ لَوَاقِعَ الدين, we
talked about الدين and what it means, right?
دين, we mentioned that it means responsibility, it
means account, judgment right, that you will be
held accountable so you will be held accountable
you will be judged on the day of
judgment, الدين, you owe Allah something in this
life when you are brought into this life,
you owe Allah you owe Allah your existence
it's not like you are just here playing
around in this life that's not, you didn't
happen to be in this world, right?
you didn't come out of nowhere just like
that and then somehow Allah brought this command
to hijack your life right, no you are
here in the first place for Allah, that's
you are brought for a mission, so don't
play around that's what life is that's the
starting point of your life, that's the context
of your life you are here, Allah brought
you here with a mission to fulfill it
and you accepted this mission by the way
in your human nature, you accepted this mission
because Allah took Allah took a covenant, an
agreement a promise from us before coming into
this world, أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ Am I not your
Lord?
قَالُوا بَلَى we all said indeed emphatically, we
said بَلَى like indeed right, so that's why
we came into this life so we come
with a mission, so when someone says, you
know, why do we have to do all
of these things, well why are you here
in the first place, to play, to eat,
to sleep no, these are necessities of life,
you have to do them by necessity but
they are not the purpose of your life,
okay so that's الدين, وَإِنَّ الدِّينَ لَوَاقِعُ the
judgment is going to happen and you will
be held accountable you'll be asked about everything
okay, then Allah says وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الحُبُّكُ and
the sky that has these beautiful patterns or
passageways within it again الحُبُّك scholars of tafsir
have differed, what is حُبُّك here, what does
it mean, because حُبُّك in the Arabic language
حَبَكَ these three letters I guess some of
you might, those who speak Arabic might actually
know what it means حَبَكَ, what does حَبَكَ
mean where do we use it حَبَكَ brothers,
sisters حَ, don't shoot answers raise your hand
حَبَكَ, we use it in what context very
commonly used, sisters someone in a rush how
do you say it حَبَكَ okay, I get
you that's a very slang use حَبَكَ حَبَكَ
is yes, that's what I'm looking for what
is it to do what to sew things
into each other, right so let's forget about
the slang because it's not the real meaning
it was borrowed but it's relevant but the
حَبَكَ حَبَكَ means to weave things together with
harmony you put things you can put things
together and they are a mess they are
inconsistent, right but you can put things so
nicely there is beautiful pattern there is there
is pattern, there is consistency right, there is
there is an artistic side to it there
is an aesthetic side to it okay, so
that's حَبَكَ we use it mainly with stories
حَبَكَ القصة حَبَكَ الخديعة or المقلب, right when
you design a proper prank we say حَبَكَ
you put it together very well right you
put it together very well, it's flawless like
it's so perfect there's no inconsistency in it
that's what حَبَكَ حَبَكَ القصة, when you write,
writers who write a story the plot is
حَبْكَ the plot of the story is حَبْكَ,
is how you get the story together, you
know the different threads and then they come
to a point where all the threads meet,
right, that's the plot of the story, that's
الحبْكَ that's الحبْكَ and also because these letters
حَبَكَ and وَوَ and بَ are related حَوَكَ
or حَيَكَ حِيَكَ, which is to weave things
together, to do knitting
Allah SWT refers to the great
creation of the skies, how Allah made them
like a work of art they're flawless, that's
why in Surah Al-Mulk Allah says وَلَقَدْ
لِّلشَّيَاطِينَ yeah, yeah, just before it فَرْجِعِ الْبَصَرَةَ
هَلْ تَرَى مِنْ فُطُورٍ right, look at the
skies do you see any futur, any inconsistency
any flaws in the creation of the heavens
nothing, perfect creation perfect creation by Allah and
when we say السَّمَاء السَّمَاء, this is an
important digression so bear with me, what is
السَّمَاء in English, how do we translate it
heavens, skies, right what is السَّمَاء in the
Arabic language everything above you everything above you
is السَّمَاء so this ceiling for us in
the Arabic language is السَّمَاء Allah subhanahu wa
and is convinced that Allah will not support
and help his Prophet Muhammad salallahu alaihi wasalam
let him extend a rope فَلْيَمْدُدْ بِسَبَبٍ سَبَب
does that mean how do you extend a
rope to the heavens Allah is saying if
you are not happy if you are resentful
to Prophet Muhammad salallahu alaihi wasalam and you
think Allah is not going to help him
so all you need to do with all
of this hatred that you have in your
heart in order to get rid of it
extend a rope to the ceiling tie it
up and tie it around your neck and
hang yourself that's what Allah is saying to
them yeah that's what Allah is saying فَلْيَمْدُدْ
بِسَبَبٍ إِلَى السَّمَاء then see if your death
is going to remove your resentment to Prophet
Muhammad salallahu alaihi wasalam and his message that's
the meaning of the verse so يَمْدُدْ بِسَبَبٍ
إِلَى السَّمَاء السَّمَاء is whatever is above you
you that's the heavens it's not the blue
thing that you see out there it is
because it's above you but it's not the
only thing right so there is a fundamental
difference in the use of the word السَّمَاء
versus sky or heavens cool consistency
is you have come up with different accusations
you are inconsistent you don't have a case
and by the way one of the most
powerful ways to know what's true from what's
not true when there is no evidence is
consistency and that's an advantage scholars have in
Islam scholars who have experience scholars who have
experience they have a very good assessment overall
assessment of the body of evidence and rulings
and principles they've absorbed that they've internalized this
so they know the harmony they know the
consistency so when there is an issue and
there is no decisive evidence about this issue
they can sense what's the right answer in
the absence of a definitive answer how?
by internal consistency internal consistency and how do
you find a liar?
how do you find out a liar?
inconsistency because what a liar?
they gaslight you they get you confused they
mess up with the facts that you know
they create an ecology of lies so you
are lost you have nothing to stand on
look at the consistency they can't be consistent
and that's how you know they are liar
ok so Allah SWT says apparently what you
are saying has no weight because it's obviously
inconsistent who gets affected by it?
who gets poisoned by it?
the ones who are meant to be misguided
the ones who are doomed to the hellfire
so yes when we see lies spreading about
Islam when we see evil spreading in the
world when we see false ideologies spreading when
we see atheism spreading when we see misunderstanding
of Islam spreading when we see Muslim so
called Muslim dua spreading false and faulty knowledge
about Islam and problematic stuff and disseminating that
to the general public who gets misguided by
that?
the ones who are meant to be misguided
so yes it doesn't mean we leave it
I mean if you can push back against
it if you can clarify the truth by
all means do that, that would be a
great act of worship if you are qualified
and if you know but don't add to
the mix another fiasco but if you are
qualified and you are able to push back
do that for the sake of Allah SWT
but there will always remain confusion, doubts, false
ideas and methods but they don't mean anything
who will be misguided?
they are a means by which Allah tests
his creation who will hold on to the
truth and who will hold on to the
true sources of Islam and who will just
get carried away with whatever is trending this
is why trends are not good trends are
best thing is to avoid them if something
gets very popular that's a reason to doubt
it don't write it off completely but it's
a reason to doubt it it's a reason
to doubt it we'll leave this for next
week inshaAllah we can take a couple of
questions yeah at-fabbala I
don't really understand I came across hadith in
the khutba it said that for example you
could basically seek a reward with actions that
you do so would that be considered using
Islam for something like a gain?
ok so the brother asks about something we
mentioned last week about you should be used
by Islam and not use Islam what we
mean by that is you are a slave
of Allah you know today subhanAllah we have
done away with the word slave we're very
uncomfortable with the word slave I'm slave?
yes you are a slave that's who we
are we are the slave of Allah that
means you don't own yourself you don't belong
to yourself and whatever Allah says do you
should do it that's the bottom line but
Allah is kind and generous and you know
he gives you so much opportunity to go
about try to figure things out mess around
fine Allah is forgiving but the bottom line
is that you owe Allah everything including yourself
including your existence so you owe him complete
obedience you have no choice of your own
literally in reality you have no right to
choose whatever you can only choose what your
lord chooses what your master chooses that's it
that's the reality so that's how we should
behave now we can talk about details when
you come to the intricacies of life some
things will come in which is basically can
I get some benefit from the good I
do if that's your starting point of intention
you're wrong and you are using Islam but
if you are already on the right path
you're already serving Allah subhanAllah some payoff comes
about some benefit reveals itself and it's legitimate
for as long as you keep it in
check that it doesn't hijack your intention by
all means take it and that's there's a
rule among the scholars making a benefit or
a profit from something good from even something
praiseworthy like teaching, like da'wa etc if
there is benefit that comes from that personal
benefit that comes from that it does not
fundamentally cancel the good intention and the reward
but it could potentially do so it depends
on what's in your heart clear?
so that's the point Allah says we have
sent down to you a book in which
there is your mention so some of the
Mufassirin they say that means this will raise
your name or people of Quraish among the
world so what about this benefit?
yes when it fills or when it supplements
an already good intention yes but if it
becomes the intention then obviously this is shirk
of intention right?
the intention is not pure so that's what
it really means so the details always three
principles understand principles grasp them very well and
then once you do this you start to
apply them into different situations the application sometimes
could sound contradictory to the principle but they
are not but they are just a different
art it's more of a dance level so
that's why it's easy you can actually pick
two verses in the Quran and put them
against each other and they sound to be
like they sound to present an absolute contradiction
Allah says then Allah says Allah says the
ones who do tazkiyah they are the successful
but Allah says don't do tazkiyah of yourselves
what does that mean?
no contradiction there is a meaning here and
there is another meaning here although it's the
same word that says don't praise yourself and
elevate yourself and claim righteousness to yourself this
means work on yourself to purify it so
it's exactly the same word, is there a
contradiction?
no, you will find the scholars they would
say something and a few pages later they
say exact opposite the exact words how come?
they are dealing with a different situation so
that's why maturity in knowledge is more important
than just learning, knowledge is not absorbing information
there is, most of the work in knowledge
is after the internalization of knowledge is integration
how you bring knowledge together and how you
map it out and you make the links
and the connections consistently and in line with
the principles and then understand how they apply
in real life these are different levels and
they require a lot of experience a lot
of exposure, a lot of feedback a lot
of trial and error with the supervision of
the scholars then a person can start opening
their mouth and teaching, education giving dawah, etc
ok, one more question let's give a chance
to the sisters any questions?
ok, brothers I get scared when you say
you said ok, bismillah السماء
you don't differ, anything above you is السماء
above you?
the sky, the heaven seventh heaven?
خلاص it's السماء no contradiction yeah any more
questions?
طيب خير we'll let you go insha'Allah
we'll meet next Friday 6.45 جزاكم الله
