Mohammad Elshinawy – Quenching Our Humanity

			Have a new Taqwa of Allah to be conscious and dutiful and consistent with him subhanho wa Taala and
welcome my brothers and sisters to the house of Allah azza wa jal.
		

			My brothers and sisters, we would never be able to know the greatness of our Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam
		

			had he not lived the most difficult conditions that he in fact, lived through alayhi salatu salam.
		

			And we would not be able to know the reality of what it means to fulfill your potential as a human
being.
		

			The reality and the pinnacle, the apex of human excellence, had our Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam not been sent to us as a human being, and been surrounded with a generation of sincere and
loyal followers that were also not angels, human beings, that powered through all of the obstacles
and the challenges to show us a human can become this splendid, this impressive, this amazing by
Allah's permission, and so you too, can become that.
		

			And to illustrate this with just one or perhaps two, if time permits,
		

			deep dives into a moment, a night in the life of the prophets, Allah Allahu Allahu alayhi wa sallam
and his companions, and the difficult conditions they went through. We find this I had a bit cloudy
and elsewhere and suddenly it's hitting me that Abu Hurayrah or the Allahu anhu, may Allah be
pleased with him, it's confirmed about him that he used to swear and say, I swear by Allah, other
than whom no one is worthy of worship. I used to get so hungry at times that I would have to stick
my liver onto the ground, you would say my body would feel like it's on fire. And so the coolness of
the Earth would be able to just less than a little bit, make it a little bit more bearable. He said,
		

			and I would tie stones onto my belly
		

			from nothing but starvation.
		

			And I would throw myself in the middle of the road. In some narrations. He would say some people
would think I'm crazy, and it's nothing but the starvation I was going through. And I would find the
Abu Bakr Siddiq Radi Allahu Anhu passing by. And he would have you know, difficulty begging
difficulty asking, he says so I would ask him instead about an idea from the book of Allah. Can you
tell me what this ayah means? Can you tell me more about this? Did you hear the messenger sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam speak about this idea, elaborated further.
		

			He says and I had no interest in starting that conversation. Other than meaning more than him taking
me off with him and saying Come let's talk about it and feeding me. He said and I would find that
Omar on the road and I would ask him, I'd initiate a conversation about an IRA. wanting nothing more
from Omar than to notice what I'm going through and to feed me.
		

			Until one time the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam passed by me and he said, Oh Abu Hurayrah and
I said let BayCare rasool Allah at your service or messenger of Allah, Carla inhaca bina, he said,
Come with me Come along. He says the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam apparently noticed, he
noticed what was in my face the pain of starvation. And he knew what I was feeling. I'm Fe NFC. And
so he took me along with him until we got to one of his houses. And then he entered, and he sought
permission for me to enter.
		

			Because no dignified man is gonna let another man just walk into his home until his women are out of
sight or properly covered or otherwise he sought permission for me. And I was permitted to enter so
I entered. When I got inside, I found other Henneman lemon, I basically found a jug or a bowl of
milk
		

			that some of his neighbors from the Ansara would gift him sometimes. And so he was overjoyed. He was
extremely happy, I'm going to eat finally it's been days, I'm going to drink.
		

			And then he said to me or Abu Hurayrah I said, Let Baker Rasul Allah tell me, what's next.

			So we can give them some of this milk.
		

			He says and I know sofa can have their full Islam. They were the guests of Islam. They had no money.
They had no property. They had nothing at all.
		

			He says but I said to my I was bothered by this. He's very honest, man. Look
		

			I'll be pleased with him. He said I was bothered by this. And I said, What can a sofa possibly do
with a small jug like this, there's way too little milk here for Hello sofa, their numbers would
increase and decrease fluctuate day by day. But let's say they were roughly 80 people.
		

			As some numbers report, he says I was more deserving of this sip of milk as a cobia. So that I can
find some strength in it. I was going, I'm going to faint from exhaustion. And then he said to me,
go get on a sofa. So I went and I got out of sofa. And I was bringing them into the house, saying,
There is no way I'm going to be able to have any share of this milk. Because I am the messenger of
Allah server now and the server gets served last. And so there's no way around it. He said, and each
of them would enter, I would have to hand him the jug of milk himself, he has to hand it over. And
he would drink until he satisfied and hand it back to me. And then I would have to hand it again,
		

			appealing the wound over and over handed again to another person. He says why Mac OS and ye bakalli
mean who shave and I had zero hope at this point that anything would remain for me it's impossible.
		

			He says, Well, I'm yakun min Tati, Llahi wa T Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Abdul, but
there is absolutely no way around obeying Allah and obeying His Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam. So I continue to give them and continue to give them until every last one of them drink.
This was one of the miraculous supports Allah gave to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,
another sign of his prophethood he says, and then they finished, they left and I placed the milk
back into the two hands of the Prophet salAllahu alayhi wasallam. And so he looked up at me and he
smiled. He knows what I'm thinking. He smiles and he says yeah, but Hurayrah Oh Abu Hurayrah I said
		

			Allah Baker Rasul Allah at your service, he also Allah, what's next? So he says to him, My Bucky in
an hour and there's no one left, but you and me.
		

			Islam drink, he says, so I drank until I was satisfied. He said to me, when I gave it back to him,
it should have drink again. So I drank until I couldn't and gave it back to him. He said he should
have drink again. Until I found myself saying yeah rasool Allah O Messenger of Allah, Maggi do
Lahoma silicone. I can't find any room left for it. There's no room
		

			call for any. And so show it to me or quench me with it. It's my turn to drink. Notice he sallallahu
alayhi wa alayhi wa sallam did not drink yet.
		

			He said allow me to drink them. He says and so I handed him the milk.
		

			And hand me the law. He praised Allah and thanked him was some man he mentioned his name he said
Bismillah where sharable formula and he drank whatever was remaining.
		

			From that milk from that container Akula already has our stuff for a lot of the money welcome.
		

			Alhamdulillah wa Salatu was Salam ala Milena we have other Chateau La ilaha illa BA or the hula

			Of course an incident like this speaks for itself.
		

			But I want to ask before I step down, why do you think the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
praised Allah said and Hamdulillah I want you to probe this question inside of yourself.
		

			Did he praise Allah subhanho wa Taala for his bounty like for the milk in and of itself the net
amount for the milk?
		

			That is very possible. You know, I shut off the Allahu Anhu when they asked her what was the
situation that the the lifestyle the livelihood of the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam like
she said, among many things, she said that one moon over another moon over another moon three full
moons would happen meaning three months would pass and no fire would be lit in the house of the
messenger of allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam meaning no cooking meaning no meat. Right? They said
to her then how would you possibly survive, she said is within the two staple foods and things that
are always available. Water and dates. She said unless some of his neighbors from the unsalted
		

			gifted to him some milk
		

			meaning the milk itself was rare. At times, even the milk there was interruptions in it and
		

			So the fact that he has milk in front of him Allah Salatu Salam is certainly one of the reasons he's
praising Allah subhanho wa taala.
		

			Or maybe he was praising Allah azza wa jal because Allah subhanho wa Taala granted him the
opportunity to remember that other people are just as maybe even more thirsty and hungry attempt.
The opportunity, let me say, to remind us what it means to be alive. He taught us la salatu salam,
what it means to be human being, human excellence, human greatness, to live for things greater than
yourself, to move beyond yourself, your needs, right your money, your family, your problems, to live
for Allah and then to live for His creation, to live with ethos, right selflessly, not just selfish,
not just self centered. Maybe he was praising Allah for the opportunity to catch that.
		

			That is certainly another reason he could be praising Allah.
		

			Maybe he was praising Allah for having guided him to be hungry himself. You see, I always, you know,
reflect on the fact that people say our Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was the orphan that
adopted the world. It's a beautiful phrase. And it is it certainly has some truth to it.
		

			But he did not choose to be an orphan, Allah chose for him to be an orphan Ali Salatu was Salam he
had him birth, live born that way. And so that of course, amplified by design, Allah guided him to
this, to have exceptional care for the orphans and the needy and the downtrodden. But when it came
to hunger and thirst, he chose this even after Allah enriched him in the end of his life, of the
benefits of that is to never lose sight, never lose the taste, never lose the experience of what
others are feeling. We can talk about those in need day and night. But unless we feel it ourselves,
it's very different. The prophets Allah Allahu alayhi wa sallam would not do away with his hunger
		

			and thirst, until the poor and the needy, he tried his level best to make sure they had their hunger
and their thirst satisfied.
		

			Or maybe Allah praise them. He was praising Allah for his humility that Allah guided him to, you
know, think about this also, this is God's greatest messenger, sitting there with the poor people
giving them priority over himself, drinking from the same cup or pot or utensil, as the poorest
members of society and his salatu salam.
		

			Or perhaps he was praising Allah for guiding him to be a believer, a believer that has good hopes of
Allah. Without which selflessness, this ethos we're talking about would not be possible, because
many people can feel for those in need. But they are not able to figure out how to reconcile between
their needs and my needs. And so they hold on to what they have too much out of fear that it's going
to run out, and so they don't care about they don't extend care to those they have cared for in
their hearts, but not the prophets. Allah Allahu Allah, your Salah, not those guide into the reality
of faith reality of Eman. He knew that Allah would bless the milk. He knew that Allah subhanho wa
		

			Taala would make it enough. He had this Hueston oven of Allah, that Allah would bless that which is
little, so long as he does not act like it's all up to me to ration out my resources to provide for
myself and those I love.
		

			And no matter what we say up here in a hot book, we can never fully come across the depths, from
which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says and hamdulillah These are three four or five
thoughts of why he said it from the depths of his heart and hamdulillah before he said, Bismillah
and actually drink, but know that when he said his Alhamdulillah it was unlike any other human
being. And it's at the top of the mountain that we are all trying to climb up. May Allah make a
selfless like our Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and Sahaba May Allah subhana wa Allah make us
of those that assumed the best of him, in our problems, and in our finances, and in everything we
		

			face in life. And may Allah azza wa jal guide us to experience the brokenness of the downtrodden in
a positive way that would drive us to live productive lives, altruistic lives, beneficial lives to
ourselves and those around us. May Allah sent his finest Peace and blessings about upon his greatest
prophets and messengers, the master of all of the creation on the day of judgment and allow us to
see his face and drink from his hand and benefit from his intercession on the Day of Judgment is
shefa Allahumma Amin may we be of those most overjoyed to receive it was Allah Allahu wa Salam o
