Surah Alamanu Raheem
Alhamdulillahi
Rabbilalameen.
My dear brothers, sisters and elders,
this is the 4th and the last of
my khotab
on the place and position of Rasulullah
in Islam.
His name was Muhammad
He is the one about whom Allah
spoke and revealed.
Allah
said,
all praise and glory and majesty is to
the one,
who send down
Al Furqan, his book, his criteria
of good and bad and good and evil
and right and wrong
on his
slave.
On his slave, Muhammad so
that he
would warn
the people, the world about these things.
He is the one
about whom Allah
did
and confirmed
and announced
where he said,
He is the one
who Allah
took
in the journey which we know as Alisra
wal Mi'raj
from Al Masjid Al Haram
to Al Masjid Al Aqsa
and Allah said we have purified
the surroundings
of that Masjid Al Aqsa
to show Muhammad
our signs as we wish to show him.
He's the one
for whom to honour him and to comfort
him and to support him. Allah
reveals Suratul Dua
and Surah
Surah
Surah
Shahlah.
I remind myself and you
that there are several ways to guide.
The most reliable way
is to give the person a compass,
to find direction,
a map
with details of the route,
and a guide
to take them
to their destination.
This was Muhammad
We ask
Allah
to make us among those who love him
and who he will love. And we ask
Allah to make us among those who will
be with him
on the
day about which he said, that those
that you will be with those you love.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala gave us
the compass which is the Quran,
the Sunda
which is the map
and the guide.
Muhammad Surah Alaihi
Wasallam. And therefore, the one who rejects any
of these
is in fact rejecting guidance.
We know in the Hadith, which is the
Sahih Hadith in Bukhari,
reported that Rasulullah, he
said, everyone
from my nation will enter Jannah except those
who refuse.
Everyone from my nation will enter Jannah
except those who refuse. So they asked him,
He said,
whoever obeys me enters Jannah and whoever disobeys
me has refused.
About obeying Rasulullah, he said, Allah
set a unique standard.
Allah said,
Allah is taking an oath by himself.
Allah said,
Allah said, by, but no,
by your rub,
they will never be true believers
until they accept you, Mohammed, sallallahu alaihi wasallam,
as the judge in their disputes
and find no resistance
in their hearts within themselves
against your decision and submit to that wholeheartedly.
As we know,
sin is culpable and punishable only when it
is committed
either by speech or action,
not when you think or feel
disobedient
or rebellious,
except in the case of Rasulullah
SAW.
With his rulings, Allah declared
that the condition of iman, he's talking about
a boundary condition here, not just a sin,
but a boundary condition is to accept
his ruling
in any matter
and not only to do that visibly, but
also internally
and to do that wholeheartedly
without any resistance in our hearts.
And that is the reason it is so
important
to know Rasool Allah, SAW,
and to love him more than we love
any other human being.
Only then can we develop the trust
that is necessary to accept whatever he told
us because we know that his source of
knowledge was superior to ours
and that he always wanted the best for
us and that whatever he told us,
he had been guided by Allah to
say that. Allah
is the witness for that where he said,
Allah said he does not speak of his
own desire, of his own volition.
It is only a revelation
that is sent down to him.
This reinforces for us that what comes from
Rasulullah, hissalam,
is always beneficial and important
and so must be followed.
Allah
declared very simply and powerfully
without any reservations or boundaries,
Allah said, whoever obeys the messenger has obeyed
Allah, has truly obeyed Allah. But whoever turns
away,
then know that we have not sent you
as a keeper over them. Allah, subhanahu wa
ta'ala, declared
the fundamental principle
of obedience to Rasulullah
and he said,
Allah said, whatever
whatever
the messenger gives you, take it. And whatever
he forbids you from,
leave it. And fear Allah.
Surely Allah is severe in punishment.
Allah
commands us and says,
do whatever he tells you
And again, Sahih Hadis,
in Muslim and Bukhari.
Narrates that Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
said,
what I have forbidden for you,
stay away from it. What I have forbidden
for you, stay away from it. What I
have ordered you to do, do as much
of it as you can.
For verily, it was only their excessive questioning
and disagreeing with their prophets that destroyed the
nations who were before you.
The principle, therefore,
is to do what Rasool Allah, he said,
ordered
to the best of our ability,
but to stop totally
whatever he forbid.
He did not tell us stop to the
best of your ability. He said stop completely
doing to the best of your ability. But
the the the the
the
whatever is made halam is halam completely, totally,
instantly as soon as we,
come to know that. And that's why Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala revealed.
Allah
said, oh believers,
all intoxicants,
gambling,
idol worship,
and drawing of lots, which is like
fortune telling and so on, are all the
evil of Shaitan's
work,
So leave them so that you may be
successful.
The Sabbath,
when this ayat was revealed, immediately stopped drinking
wine. They didn't ask for time. They didn't
argue about it. They obeyed.
That is the secret of their success, and
that is also the secret of our success
as Muslims
is obedience.
Narrator
He said I was serving Abu Ubaida Abu
Talha and Ubay bin Kaab
with a drink prepared from ripe and unripe
date. So that's date wine.
Then somebody came and said, alcoholic drinks have
been prohibited. He decided the ayat of the
Quran. On hearing that, Abu Talha
said, get up, oh, Anas, and throw it
away. And so I threw it away.
Narrated Anas bin also
in other hadith.
He said, while I was sitting with my
uncles, and by uncles, he means elders,
and serving them with wine prepared from dates,
and I was the youngest of them.
They said
alcoholic
drinks have been prohibited, and they said to
me, throw it away. So I threw it
away.
My brother and sister, alcohol is not called
the mother of evil for nothing.
It's the worst of all addictions
and impossible to cure.
Alcoholics Anonymous says that even someone who has
managed to overcome his alcohol addiction for 20
years will get hooked if he takes one
drink.
Yet the Sabbath, many of whom consumed alcohol
daily and habitually,
left it instantly
without any argument
or need for any enforcement.
Contrast this with what happened right here in
America.
I'm quoting from the from Wikipedia.
The prohibition era
was the period from 1920 to 1933.
So that is 13 years. When the United
States prohibited the production, importation, transportation, and sale
of all alcoholic beverages.
The alcohol industry was curtailed by a succession
of state legislatures and finally ended
nationwide
under the 18th amendment to the United States
Constitution
ratified on January 16,
1919 came into effect the following the in
in in twin 1920.
The 18th amendment was passed in 1919
with 68%
super majority
in the house of reps and 76%
support in the senate. So by huge support
in favor of it. And was ratified by
46 out of the then 48 states.
But ended
after 13 years
with the ratification
of the 21st amendment,
which repealed
the 18th amendment on December 5, 1933.
The voting of the voting for prohibition shows
that people really appreciated the harm of alcohol
and what alcohol was doing to society, and
they wanted to save society from it. Millions
were spent on enforcement.
Thousands of people were incarcerated.
But after 13 years, the nation gave up
and permitted alcohol again. Various reasons including economic
reasons, but the point I'm making is after
all that enforcement, it could not be done
because a change of heart cannot be enforced.
It is it has to come from within.
Allah
sent us to succeed
and he showed us the way to succeed.
And he told us that his messenger, sallallahu
alaihi wasalam, was someone we must follow in
every aspect of our lives to succeed.
And that is why Allah
gave him a life which has something for
us to learn in every situation that we
might be in. If you are a ruler
and you want to rule with justice and
compassion,
study the seerah of Muhammad, sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam.
If you are an employee or employer and
want to earn the trust of your people,
study the Sira of Muhammad.
If you want to be the best father,
the best husband, the best teacher, the best
best military or civil leader, the best friend
or neighbor, study the seerah of Muhammad Sallallahu
Alaihi wa Salam. Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, cited
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Salam as the best
example
and ordered anyone
who believes in the akhira
to study the seerah.
Allah said, indeed, in the messenger of Allah,
you have an excellent example for whoever has
hope in Allah and the last day and
remembers Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala after.
My brothers and sisters, I narrated for you
and recited for you the ayat from Surat
Al Hazab where Allah
said,
for whom?
Those who look forward to
the return to Allah, meeting with Allah and
who look forward to the day of judgment.
Remember Allah a great deal. Now if you
read the Quran Al Kareem,
the descriptions of the day of judgment, it
is something terrifying and to be feared. It
is not something that you can say you
look forward to that. Likewise, the meeting with
Allah,
which is inescapable and inevitable.
But given our lives, I speak for myself,
it's something to be feared. We don't know
what will happen, except for those
who have a special status. And who are
those?
Those are those who are who loved and
followed Muhammad.
They will look forward to that day and
that meeting with anticipation
of protection from the horrors and reward of
obedience. Please understand.
You're not talking about simply singing singing an
hasid.
You're talking about following the prophet Musa Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam, meaning that your life is on
track. So obviously, if your life is on
track, Alhamdulillah,
the icing on the cake is that those
who live emulating Rasool Rasool
will also become the most beloved, the most
respected, and the most influential people in society
just as he was.
His life is proof of concept
that Islam works.
But like any practice,
it works only for those who use it.
Not not just for those who know about
it.
Allah said
Allah said, today, I have perfected your faith
for you and completed
my favor upon you and chosen Islam as
your way as your deen.
This is the deen. This is the religion.
This is the way of life that Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alaihi Salam brought. The deen that Allah
chose for us and sent his beloved messenger,
Muhammad, salallahu alaihi salallam, to teach us. Rasulullah
salallahu alaihi salallam brought one deen.
Islam did not come in different flavors and
different varieties
to suit our desires.
Our desires must be trained
to subject themselves to the will of Allah.
Islam is complete
and good for all time. This is our
fundamental
creed and faith.
Anyone who wants to change Islam or want
to improve it or reform it or restructure
it or whatnot
and make it more or less in any
way has left Islam.
Because by their speech and effort, they are
saying that what Allah declared is false.
Islam is not complete, and Islam
is open for change.
The deed is not complete and open for
change is a statement of
whereby which you exit Islam.
For those who seek closeness to Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala, he, jalajalal, who declared
that they should emulate
not just obey but emulate,
imitate.
Emulation is the sincerest
demonstration of love. And Allah
said that he loves the one who emulates
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
Do we want Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
love us? We need to ask these very
dumb questions directly to ourselves and sit and
reflect on them.
Like, it looks like a stupid question, but
it's not a stupid question. It is a
very important question. Because if I say to
myself and I truly believe that I want
Allah to love me,
then it won't happen just by wishing.
I have to do something. And Allah
did not leave that as a great mystery.
He told us clearly what we must do.
And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said very clearly
Not only that, itiba.
What will happen? Then Allah will love you.
So how do I get Allah to love
me? By
becoming like Muhammad to
the best of my ability. Very simple.
And then what will happen? Allah said, Allah
will forgive all your sins.
Boundary condition of the love of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala is all sins forgiven.
Just think about it as believers, as mumineen,
may Allah make us all mumineen, insha'Allah.
As believers, if we were given this option
for a price, if somebody said,
what are you willing to pay
for Allah to love you?
Right? Put yourself in the situation. It's not
gonna happen. I'm saying just to get it
correct in ourselves.
As a believer, I believe in Allah. I
believe in meeting Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. I
believe one day I will die. I believe
one day I will stand before Allah and
on that day, if I am one who
Allah loves,
I am free.
Jannah is mine. Right?
Now if to be in that position, somebody
says, look,
this is what we guarantee you.
What are you willing to pay?
What will I say? What will you say
as a believer?
You say take everything.
Take everything for a very simple reason, which
is that everything will go anyway.
So when I'm saying take everything, I'm not
giving away anything which was mine in the
first place. Everything
I will leave. How many jannahs have you
prayed in this masjid?
What did they take with them?
So what do I think I will take
with me? What do you think you will
take with you?
Every single we thing we have,
Allah said, what is with you will finish,
will perish, will be gone.
So we are being told here,
what are you willing to give up of
what you will give up anyway
to get what
is permanent.
What is the what is the answer?
Question is, that is not something that we
are going to be given the option for.
We have to live our lives because today
nobody's asking for any money. Nobody's asking for
anything. They're saying just this for free. You
want Allah to love you?
Sure. Be like mama sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
Anad bin Malik said
said, none of you has faith
until I am more beloved to him than
his children, his parents and all the people.
And this is a Sahihadeem
Muslim.
This is not an ego trip.
Please understand this. Right? This is not an
ego trip.
You must love me. No. This is our
Aqidah.
This is Islam. This is the essence of
Islam.
Because if you do not love the prophet,
sallam,
you will not trust him. If you do
not trust him, you will not accept his
guidance. And if you do not accept his
guidance, we know the answer.
So the love is a foundation for everything
else.
It's not in itself. It's not a personal
thing. Oh, I love Sabad.
No. That love is personal, of course, but
it is the foundation
of this deen.
What about those who don't?
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala stated that also very
clear. This is the beauty of the Quran.
Everything, alhamdulillah, Allah has given us an answer.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said, and Allah counted
out and see the things which Allah counted
out. Every single one of them is halal.
Every single one of them, if you do
it with a near pleasing light is rewardable.
It will give you a reward.
Allah said,
Allah
Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala
said,
say,
O Muhammad Allah
said, say, oh, Muhammad, sallam, to these people,
if your parents and children and siblings and
spouses
and extended family and the wealth you have
acquired and the trade that you fear a
decline in and the homes you build and
you cherish and you love.
If all of these are
more beloved to you Allah did not say
don't love your parents. No. Love your parents,
of course.
But if you love them more than you
love Allah. If you love them more than
you love the Rasool alayhi sallam.
Allah said, if you love them, if they
are more beloved to you than Allah and
his Rasul and struggling in his way. Meaning,
it is not sufficient simply to say, I
love Allah. I love Muhammad sallam and then
do the opposite of what we should be
doing. No. It has to be shown.
If that if these three things are less
beloved to you, the other things are more
beloved to you than Allah and his messenger
and struggling in the way of Allah. Then
Allah said then wait,
go away.
Go and wait for the punishment of Allah.
And then Allah reiterated
and reinforced and said Allah does not guide
the rebellious people.
We ask Allah
to save us from being.
So not only are we required to,
to love, but to demonstrate this love by
our actions and our life. Finally,
narrated
Anu,
a man came
to and he said, yeah, Rasulullah,
when is the hour? When is the day
of judgment?
Rasulullah, salallahu alaihi wasalam said, what have you
prepared for it?
The man said nothing except that I love
Allah and his messenger, sallallahu alaihi wasalam.
Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa sallam said, you will
be with those whom you love.
Anad bin Malik said, we have never been
we have never been so happy
as we were that day on hearing
what Rasulullah
said, which is you will be with those
whom you love.
Therefore, he says, Anad Din Malik, I love
Rasulullah
salallahu alaihi salam.
I love Abu Bakr and Oar, Radhiallahu Anumah
and I hope that I will be with
them because of my love for them, though
my deeds are not like theirs.
Now, take this Hadith with in the context.
First of all, the man who came to
Islam
was a Sahabi.
He was a mohim. His position in Islam
is more than everyone else's.
He was not somebody who was
gambling or selling lottery tickets. He was not
somebody who was doing all committing all kinds
of. He was somebody who was following.
His way of saying, I have nothing is
in Kisar.
It is his humility.
If we have that nothing, believe me, we
will also be in general.
Similarly, when husband Malik
says my deeds are not like this, husband
Malik
was the servant of Nabi Sadasalam for 10
years, his entire life in Madinah. And her
husband, Malik, died
at a very advanced stage of almost 90
years. And after Rasulullah
passed away,
he used to see Rasulullah
in his dream
every
single night.
This is Analuzari.
I ask Allah to show me, it's Nabi
one time
before I die.
Anad Bimbalik,
every day of his life, he sarvises.
He says, my deeds are not like a
robber. Of course, there are difference
of levels and positions. But please understand that,
right? We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
make us among those who Allah loves.
And that will happen. It will happen only
and only when we change our lives and
we change our actions and we change the
means of our earning and we change what
goes into our mouths. Until then, Dua is
not accepted, Ibadah is not accepted,
and that is a fact. It is not
my opinion.
Ask Allah to fill our hearts with love
for Rasoolullah sallam and to make us walking,
talking models of his life. Ask Allah
to fill our lives with the barakah and
noor of this era of Rasoolullah salam
