Hi everybody, in today's video, we'll be talking about the art of decision making in leadership. Now, before we get into the subject, we understand that the fundamental role of a leader is that he has to take decisions, he has to be decisive, he needs to make important decisions from time to time, and more or less this is his daily task and responsibility, whether it is setting goals, setting up directions for the team, whether it is handling of conflicts and resolving conflicts, whether it is trying to bring in accountability at the workplace, the leader has to engage in hands taking decision on a daily basis, or for that matter, even if it comes to managing of resources, how
the resources will have to be distributed. All of this requires a leader to take decisions. So the role of decision making is a critical factor for a leader, he needs to know the quality art of making those quality decisions. Now, how can a leader make those quality decisions? I'm going to talk about three steps in this video. First and foremost, it is important for a leader to gather and analyze information. Data analysis is a crucial aspect that the leader can never overlook. When you have to make decisions, you need to analyze whatever information you can gather, whatever data you can gather on that subject. This is going to make your decision based on logic and sound reasoning,
because you have data to support your decision that you're making. So gathering of data, analyzing those data in the context in which you need to make a decision is extremely important and crucial for the lead. The second step is to trust your own instinct. Leadership is not only about making logical decisions, while that is the first step that we take. The second step is do not discount your experiences, do not discount your instincts and judgments. The leader has to create a balance between the data and analysis that he's done, and his own experiences his own gut feeling that plays a very important role in making decision. The third and most important factor which I want to
discuss is considering the long term effect of making such decision. A leader has to also look at the consequences of the decision that he's going to make good leaders don't look at just short term objective. They look at long term consequences. What are my visions? What are my goals? What am I objective? How will my decision impact my vision, my goal, my objective, that is a role of a leader. So three important steps that I've shared with you as a leader in order to make effective decision making. First gather data, do data analysis, get all the information necessary to make an informed decision. The second aspect is to trust your own gut feeling. You have an experience. You are a
knowledgeable person, don't discount your own judgment. And the third and most important aspect is consider the long term consequences. I hope you found the video beneficial. Do remember to Like the video and share it with your family and friends. Thank you for watching
