Inna alhamda lillah, nihmaduhu wa nasta'inuhu wa

'i allaha wa rasulahu fa qad faaza fawzan
azeema amma ba'ad Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala created the creation and from His creation
He chose certain things and favored them and
preferred them over the rest wa rabbuka yakhluqu
ma yashaa'u wa yakhtaar Your Lord creates
and He also chooses and favors whatever He
wills and so Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
is also the creator of time time which
includes years and months and weeks and days
and hours and so from this creation of
Allah there are certain times that Allah has
chosen and preferred and favored over others and
from the veneration of Allah from the ta
'zeem the veneration of Allah is that you
venerate what He chooses and what He favors
and so when Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
chooses and favors a certain time it indicates
that that time is special it indicates and
it shows the importance of that time in
doing acts of obedience in doing extra good
deeds that are pleasing to Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala and so Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala He has chosen one day that He
has mentioned in the Qur'an He has
chosen one day and favored it over all
the other days and this day is the
most beloved of days to Him and this
day is a day that Allah has mentioned
in the Qur'an and an entire surah
was named after it and so this day
is Yawmul Jumu'ah Friday The Prophet ﷺ
says in the hadith of Abu Hurairah in
Sahih Muslim He says The best day
upon which the sun rises is Friday وَفِيهَا
The Prophet ﷺ says the best day
upon which the sun rises is Friday in
it Allah created Adam and in this day,
on this day Allah admitted him into Jannah
and it was on this day that Allah
made him leave Jannah and the day of
judgment will not occur except on a Friday
This day was known among the Arabs before
Islam as Aruba and then it was called
Jumu'ah It was called Jumu'ah because
this is the day that the Muslims يَجْمَعُونَ
they gather they come together, they congregate for
Salatul Jumu'ah and Allah ﷻ guided us
and chose this day for us out of
all of the previous nations and people and
so our Prophet ﷺ tells us in the
hadith of Abu Hurairah ﷺ in Bukhari and
Muslim he says we, our Ummah we are
the last meaning chronologically we come at the
end of the other nations but we will
be the first on the day of judgment
and then he says every Ummah was given
the book before us while we were given
it after them and then he says it
was this day, meaning Friday that Allah chose
for us and He guided us to it
and the others follow us regarding it he
says the others follow us and then he
said the Jews have the next day, meaning
Saturday and the Christians have the day after
it and so we are leading and the
others are following us and that's why the
Prophet ﷺ tells us the Ahlul Kitab and
specifically the Jews, they envy us he ﷺ
says they do not envy us for anything
as much as they envy us for Friday
which Allah guided us to and they were
led astray from it and because Allah ﷻ
has favored and chosen this day and He
made it the day that we Muslims get
together for Ibadah, to worship Allah He will
reward us He will reward us for a
better gathering in the Akhirah and so the
Prophet ﷺ says in the Hadith of Anas
Jannah there will be a market that the
people of Jannah will come together in this
market on Friday so this will be the
meeting place and it will be every Friday
and how close you will be to Allah
ﷻ in Jannah depends on how eager you
were and how much interest you showed to
coming to Salatul Jumu'ah every Friday in
this Dunya Ibn Mas'ud ﷺ he says
hasten to Salatul Jumu'ah hasten to pray
Salatul Jumu'ah for Allah appears to the
people of Jannah every Friday on a hill
of Kafur this nice fragrance and their proximity
to Him depends on how eagerly they hasten
to Salatul Jumu'ah in this world and
so this is the Salah that Allah ﷻ
has singled out mentioning it in the Qur
'an يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نُودِيَ لِلصَّلَاةِ
مِن يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَاسْعَوْا إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَذَرُوا
الْبَيْعِ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ O
you who believe when the call is made
for Salah on Friday then quickly hasten quickly
come to it to the remembrance of Allah
and leave behind your businesses your buying, your
selling for that is far better for you
if you were to know and because it
is the most important Salah because Salatul Jumu
'ah is the most important Salah the gravity
of missing it and abandoning it and neglecting
it is more severe than missing and abandoning
any other Salah the Prophet ﷺ says in
the Hadith of Ibn Umar in Sahih Muslim
he says that there are people who better
stop missing Salatul Jumu'ah otherwise Allah will
seal their hearts and then He will make
them from among the heedless ones and the
Prophet ﷺ says
three consecutive Jumu'ahs three consecutive Jumu'ahs
out of laziness neglecting it not caring about
it then such a person Allah will place
a seal over his heart and this is
the unfortunate phenomenon that we find today how
many Muslims who identify themselves as Muslims they
miss this very important Salat Salatul Jumu'ah
what excuse do they have?
that they couldn't find time for it?
what excuse do they have?
that they're busy with their work with their
studies what excuse do they have?
that Salatul Jumu'ah is inconvenient for me
it comes at a time for me when
I'm busy how do such people expect to
find any Barakah to find any good any
blessings in their lives they think that by
missing this very important Salat that they think
that by missing this very important Salat that
it's better for them it's better for their
worldly affairs but the reality is the very
opposite that by them missing this Salat Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala takes away any good
and any blessings any Barakah from their day
and from their lives
Oh you who believe,
fear Allah Have the Taqwa of Allah And
let each and every single soul look to
what He has sent for His tomorrow Let
each and every one of us ask ourselves
What have I prepared for my Akhirah And
fear Allah for indeed Allah is well aware
of what you do My dear brothers and
sisters Due to the significance of this day
of Jumu'ah Due to the fact that
it's extremely That it is the most beloved
day to Allah And the most important day
of the week Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
And His Messenger ﷺ Have mentioned certain Adab
Certain etiquette And certain Sunan Certain things That
we should be doing on this day Some
of these etiquette And some of these Sunan
are mandatory While others are highly recommended And
so we should make every effort To implement
these etiquette In our lives on this day
The first of these is Praying Salatul Fajr
Not only on time But making every effort
To come and pray it In the Masjid
In the Jama'ah The Prophet ﷺ says
In the Hadith of Ibn Umar R.A.
The Prophet ﷺ says That among the best
of all the Salats Is Salatul Fajr On
Friday In the Jama'ah Also among the
etiquette And the Sunan Is to recite Certain
Surahs In Salatul Fajr On Fridays Specifically And
that is Reciting Suratul Sajdah In the first
Raka'ah And Suratul Insan In the second
Also among the mandatory things That we have
to do on Fridays Is to take a
shower To bathe As the Prophet ﷺ says
If any of you comes For Salatul
Jumu'ah Then he has to take a
bath He has to have a ghusl before
coming Also among the etiquette Is to wear
your best clothes Your nicest clothes And also
to put on some perfume Also among the
Adab The etiquette Of coming for Salatul Jumu
'ah Is to come early To come as
early as one can As the Prophet ﷺ
says In Sahih Al-Bukhari Al-Muslim إِذَا
On Friday There are angels
Sitting At every door Of the doors of
The Prophet ﷺ
says What do these angels do?
They're sitting at the doors And they have
an attendance sheet They're writing down the names
of everyone who's coming In order Of the
first And so whoever comes first He's at
the top of the list And then In
that order And then what happens?
The Prophet ﷺ says When the Imam comes
And he sits on the Minbar That's it
They close their books And they come to
sit Listening to the reminder, to the Dhikr
And so this tells us That Coming and
listening to the Khutbah Is actually a part
of the Salah A misconception that many people
have Is that what is mandatory Is to
make it for the Salah As for the
Khutbah, it's not important No If you miss
the Khutbah It's as if you miss the
Salah And you miss on a huge reward
Also Among the etiquette of coming for Jumu
'ah Is not disturbing others when you arrive
One day the Prophet ﷺ was on the
Minbar On Friday Giving the Khutbah And he
saw a man coming And he was making
his way through the rows Stepping above the
shoulders of everyone Perhaps to find a spot
in the front The Prophet ﷺ called him
out He called him out And he said
He said sit down For
indeed you have caused a lot of disturbance
And so what this also teaches us Is
that when you come for Jumu'ah And
when you come to the Masjid If you
happen to come late Don't sit at the
very back Or even if you come in
the beginning Don't sit at the back Make
room for the brothers who are coming And
fill the first rows Because we find that
a lot of brothers They sit in the
back Perhaps so that they're the first ones
to leave And so they're causing They're causing
a lot of problems To the others who
are coming late Also among the etiquettes Of
coming for Salatul Jumu'ah Is that when
you come Let the first thing you do
be To enter and pray two rak'ahs
Of Tahiyyatul Masjid One day the Prophet ﷺ
As he was giving the Khutbah There was
a man he came He entered and he
sat down The Prophet ﷺ called him And
he asked him Did you pray before sitting
down?
He said no The Prophet ﷺ He said
get up and pray And then he addressed
everyone And he said
said if any of you happens to come
for Jumu'ah And the Imam is on
the Minbar giving the Khutbah Let him pray
first two rak'ahs And let him make
it quick Make it a very light Salah
A very quick Salah So that you can
sit down And benefit from the Khutbah Also
among the Adab and the etiquettes Of coming
for Jumu'ah Is that when you come
And you're sitting here You should be paying
attention to the Khutbah You should be listening
attentively The Prophet ﷺ says In the Hadith
of Abu Hurairah In Sahih Muslim The
Prophet ﷺ says That whoever Leaves home making
Wudu Perfecting his Wudu And then he comes
for Jumu'ah And then he sits there
Listening attentively And remaining silent Not speaking He
will have all of his sins forgiven From
that Jumu'ah All the way until the
next And then he ﷺ He said And
whoever Touches pebbles Plays and fiddles around with
pebbles Then he has done something useless As
if he has wasted all of his rewards
And so in those days Their Masajid were
not Were not covered with carpets As we
have today And so the Prophet ﷺ was
saying That those who play around with these
pebbles In the Masjid on the floor It's
as if They have completely missed All of
the reward of Salatul Jumu'ah And so
my dear brothers and sisters Here the Prophet
ﷺ Is telling us Of something that is
inappropriate Of doing something physically That is inappropriate
But he also mentioned something else When he
The Prophet ﷺ Even
forbade us from speaking When the Imam is
given the Khutbah He said if you say
To the one sitting next to you Be
quiet Because perhaps the one sitting next to
you Is talking to you And you want
to listen to the Khutbah If you respond
to him and say Remain silent, be quiet
Then you have also done something That is
useless, that is inappropriate And so what we
learn From both of these Hadith Is that
the whole purpose of the Khutbah Is to
be reminded Is to be reminded Many of
us We go about our lives Without having
a single reminder The entire week And then
we come here And we busy ourselves Perhaps
talking to each other Or even worse than
that Opening up our phones And reading our
messages And going through social media And even
doing worse than that Watching inappropriate videos While
the Imam is on the Minbar Giving the
Khutbah What does it say about such people?
What if the Prophet ﷺ was alive today
And he saw this And yet all he
forbade us from Is to fiddle around with
our fingers And to say certain things That
are inappropriate So what if he saw the
condition Of the Muslims today And the whole
reason I mention this Is because of how
many times People have approached me Almost every
Friday Asking me to raise this issue Where
brothers or sisters Have their phones open Either
reading messages Or going through social media Or
whatever it be Not paying attention to the
Khutbah When the Prophet ﷺ warned us From
such inappropriate behavior Also from the etiquette And
the Adab and the Sunan of Friday Is
to recite Surah Al-Kahf The Prophet ﷺ
Whoever
recites Surah Al-Kahf On Friday He will
have a light For him From that Jumu
'ah all the way Until the next Also
among the Sunan Of Fridays Is to make
Dua In the last hour of Friday As
The
Prophet ﷺ says There is an hour on
Friday In which any Muslim Asks Allah for
any good Except that Allah He will grant
it to him And this hour Is the
last hour of Friday As the Prophet ﷺ
Look for
it, anticipate it In the last hour after
Asr And finally Among the etiquette And the
Sunan Of Friday Is to send Salah and
Salam Upon our Prophet ﷺ Because Friday Is
the best of days And he ﷺ Is
the best of people And the best of
creation The Prophet ﷺ says
The Prophet ﷺ says That
the best of days The best of your
days is Friday And so send A lot
of Salah Upon me In it For indeed
Your Salah, your Salam upon me Is presented
to me And so let us make it
a habit Every Friday To frequently remember Allah
To say a lot of Dhikr And the
crown of Adhkar on Friday is Sending Salah
