Kamil Ahmad – Prophetic Parables #39 – The Fasting Person
AI: Summary ©
The importance of maintaining focus and inner focus during prayer is highlighted, as it is associated with fasting and a natural zone. The Parable of the Fasting person being more pleasant to Allah than the person himself is discussed, and the smell of the fasting person is seen as more pleasant to him than the smell of the fasting person. This is seen as dis-you're pleasure, and avoiding bad smell is crucial to Islam's culture. The session concludes with plans for the next session.

We move on after that to the next part of the Halles
and so
heavy continues the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, quoting Yeah, even Zakaria were in the water, Mr. Lacombe salvati. He does for later. fella tell turfy to the Enola young Cebu wahoo Lee YG he, he feels it he mellem you ultrafit and Allah commands you to perform Salah
when you perform Salah do not become distracted
for Allah is facing the face of his worshiper as long as he does not distract himself.
And so this part of the Hadith is the second commandment.
And he talks about the importance of maintaining
focus and concentration and Whoa, sure, in our Salah, and this focus is of to two kinds. One is the bodily focus, and so you shouldn't be looking
elsewhere when you're praying. And the second is the inner focus, which is in your heart, which is basically a whole show. However, here, after mentioning this, he does not mention a parable. There's no parable mentioned here with regards to this second commandment. So we move on right after that to the next commandment. And so he said
what
he said what are Mortal Kombat three
for inner metal adeleke committal, you know, Julian fee. I saw that in ma who sobre fi amisk for kulu home. Yeah Jabu Jabu who
were in rehab saw me cochlea, boo, hindawi Min, real misc.
And so he says,
and I commend you too fast.
The Parable of fasting is that of a man among a group with a sachet, a small bag containing Musk,
all of them enjoy its fragrance.
Indeed, the breadth of the fasting person is more beloved to Allah, then the scent of musk.
And so the third commandment in this heartbeat was to fast.
And so he gave this example of the fasting person, and how he is so beloved to Allah subhanho wa Taala. And so he compared him
to a man who is in a group of people.
And he has a small cloth bag that has his perfume minutes.
So it's hidden.
It may even be under his clothes or in his pocket.
But all of those around him.
In this group of people, they enjoy his fragrance.
They enjoy it, they like it smell.
And so likewise is the fasting person.
His act is beloved to Allah because it is concealed.
And no one knows about him fasting.
And this is
a general rule with regards to all good deeds, that the more you conceal it from others,
the more beloved it is to Allah subhanho wa Taala and the more rewarding it will be.
And this is the very meaning of EClass sincerity,
that you do whatever you do have good deeds of a bad sincerely
for Allah Subhana who would the IRA and not for others
and not for others.
However, the true fast, the true fast, that is beloved to Allah subhanho wa Taala
is not just abstaining from food and drink,
and our sexual desires, but rather abstaining from everything that Allah has forbidden in general.
Which is something that not too many people pay attention to. And so when Ramadan comes,
people they stay away from food and drink and they know that if I if I eat if I drink
or I end up having
sexual relations with my wife.
In the daytime and Ramadan, this will invalidate my fast. This will spoil my fast,
but they don't pay attention to other sins that otherwise forbidden in general.
And so the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says in this regard Melania Drew,
I will assume it will be Felisa Lila, he has a fee and the other two,
that whoever does not leave off false speech, and acting baiance then Allah is not in need of him leaving his food and his drink, meaning the fasting person, if he, you know, speaks evil, he lies, he insults people, he back bites, and so on and so forth. Allah is not in need of him abstaining from his food and his drink.
And so,
the one whom Allah Subhana, who Allah loves his fast
is the one who doesn't do or he doesn't say anything that spoils his fast. Yes,
you know, these sins do not invalidate the fast in the sense that
you know, your fast is broken, and you're gonna have to make up for that day. But these sins, they diminish the reward, they diminish the reward.
And so, the fast that Allah subhanho wa Taala is pleased with
and, and you know, the person is beloved to Allah subhanahu wa tada because of his fast, it is the one who stays away from everything that Allah has forbidden while he is fasting.
And so,
you know, he doesn't do anything or he doesn't see anything that is displeasing to Allah subhanho wa Taala rather, the only thing coming from him of actions or words
is that which is good, that which is pleasing to Allah subhanahu wa tada
which is like the fragrance of the carrier of musk.
Whoever is around him,
they enjoy his company.
They enjoy sitting with him
because of what he is emitting,
of nice smell. Likewise, the righteous person.
You know, people enjoy his company,
because of his righteousness because of what he is emitting.
Good Deeds have good words.
And also at the same time, the people they're safe
from any harm, you know, they know they're not going to be harmed by this person, whether in action or in words.
And so after mentioning this, then the Prophet sallallahu Sallam mentioned
the breadth of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah. Then the scent of misc after mentioning the parable, he mentioned this, and this is similar to another Hadith, in which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, Could Luana leibny Adam Allahu Allah, so for in the holy war and Zb.
While a hollow Femi saw me Akihabara and Allahumma refill misc.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said,
quoting Allah subhana wa tada that Allah said, Every good deed of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting, it is for me and I will reward him for it.
Indeed the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to a lot than the smell of misc.
And this is a very famous Hadith that is often quoted in Ramadan
that the smell of the fasting person, the
the unpleasant smell that we find to be unpleasant, it is actually more pleasant to Allah. Then the smell of beautiful misc and a beautiful fragrance.
Now, some may be wondering how is something that is disgusting?
Or that seems nasty to us. How is it pleasant to Allah? And so the answer to that is
that our disgust,
our disgust, is based solely on our natural districts,
without looking at the motive behind
the act, you know, what is causing
that bad smell, for example,
or many other examples that we can mention regarding things that Allah subhanho wa Taala find beautiful finds pleasant, even though for us, we find it to be disgusting.
This is because we look at it without looking at
the act that caused it.
And so,
since the Act was beloved to Allah Subhana hutan, and therefore, anything that results from it, will be beloved to him.
If the Act was an act of very bad,
then anything that results from it,
even if we we find it to be, you know,
disgusting,
then it is not and this was the point that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam wanted to make when he mentioned this.
And so
the
it's only because of a result of
the person abstaining from food and drink, that this, that this unpleasant smell, would come from his mouth.
And so it was an act of that he bad that Allah subhanho wa Taala
loves and is pleased with that caused that smell. So this is why it is more pleasing to Allah than
then the fragrance of the smell of a beautiful perfume.
And vice versa. Vice versa. Some things may be pleasing to us.
But they are displeasing to Allah subhana wa tada because it involves his disobedience, we may see certain things as being
beautiful
and being good, and we may approve of them.
Even though it involves the disobedience of Allah subhanho wa Taala.
So Allah subhanho wa Taala is not pleased with it, but lots of hunter who does not look at it as being something beautiful or being something good.
And so among the lessons that we can learn from this parable, concerning fasting is, first of all,
the virtue of fasting, and how it is special because of how it is concealed, it is hidden
compared to many other good deeds.
And so, the fasting person he abstains from food and drink,
whether people are around him or not.
And so this is why fasting is special.
And this is the meaning of the Hadith where the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, Every good deed of the son of Adam is for him, except for fasting. It was for me, so I will
reward him a special reward. What this means is, yes, all the deeds that we do are for Allah.
But what is meant by this hadith is
that fasting is different than all other good deeds, in the sense that it was sincerely done for Allah subhanho wa Taala maybe our other good deeds.
Some Ria entered into it.
That's what we did it for other than Allah subhana wa Tada. But how can you
How can you,
you know,
how can you make your fasting for other than Allah?
Unless you you know, boast and you tell people on fasting and all look at how many days I fasted. Besides that. You cannot show people that you are fasting, unlike Salah for example. You
Pray and you beautify your Salah for the people or you recite the Quran and you recite it in a way that you want their approval you want to impress them.
So in this way it was not sincerely for Allah subhana wa Tada. On the other hand when you fast and you're staying away from food and drink,
even if people were around, or even if they were not, it doesn't make any difference to you.
The second lesson that we can learn from this hadith is that Allah Subhana Allah data is correctly attributed with
finding certain things to be pleasant, and certain things to be unpleasant,
being pleased with certain things and being
on pleased with other things. But these are attributes of Allah subhana wa Tada.
And we must remember that the rule with regards to Allah as attributes is that they are real.
So Allah does become pleased, he does become displeased, he does become happy and so on and so forth.
From the various attributes that are affirmed in the Quran and the Sunnah, they are real attributes, but
they are in a manner that is unknown to us, and is only befitting to Allah subhanho wa Taala. So one should not say, How can Allah subhanahu wa tada find something disgusting, like,
the bad smell of a fasting person, how can Allah like it, and be pleased with it, when this is something unpleasant.
We say that the pleasure of Allah subhana wa tada is real, he does become pleased with certain things, and certain people, but his pleasure is unlike our pleasure.
him being pleased, is in a way befitting him that we don't know, we don't know the reality of how Allah subhanahu wa Tada, his attributes are.
The third lesson that we learned from this hadith is
that the bad smell of the fasting person is due to not eating out anything
due to fasting
and activate that.
And so it should not be looked at with disgust.
Which is why we are not supposed to try to attempt
to get rid of that smell. And so some people, they will brush their teeth, when they're fasting.
Or,
you know, just try through different ways to get rid of that smell.
And so, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam will not do any of that.
And, in fact, he mentioned this Hadith, so that, so that, we don't do that. And so that, we understand that you know, what, the smell is pleasing to Allah. And so I shouldn't feel, you know, I shouldn't feel disgusted by you know, having such a smell.
And this call is deferred with regards to, you know, cleaning our mouth, mouth with a miswak when we are fasting, and so,
it is safer to not use it, especially in the later part of the day, when the smell starts coming, and Alon was best. Finally, among the lessons that we can learn from this
parable is that righteousness has a good effect that can be seen by those around the righteous person,
a person who is righteous within himself, and he is a person who is close to Allah subhanho wa Taala.
His righteousness can be seen on his face, Allah subhana wa Taala has brightened the faces of such people.
And likewise, evil it has an effect that can be seen by those
around evil person. They have a darkness in their face that can be recognized not by everyone, but by the people of emf.
So a person who is sick
they're
coming back to the
parable of the person carrying Musk, how those around him, they enjoy his smell.
Likewise,
a righteous person, wherever he goes, people enjoy his company and an evil person.
People want to stay away from him.
As for someone
who let's say he's sick,
and you know he cannot smell properly,
he will not enjoy that smell,
that smell of misc
and fragrance from
the person who who has it, other people are enjoying it, but not this person who is sick.
He won't smell, he won't smell it, whether it's a good smell or a bad smell, he won't be able to smell anything.
Likewise, with regards to certain people who
you know, they do not,
they do not see the righteousness of a person. As we mentioned, righteousness.
It can be seen on a person.
And evil can be seen on a person.
But not everyone can see that not everyone can recognize that.
But rather the people of E man can only recognize that.
And so a person who is sick in his heart, he won't be able to recognize
these things.
Even though they are apparent.
Why because his heart is sick. Either he doesn't have any man in his heart to distinguish between
righteousness and evil or he has a very weak a man in his heart. And so you cannot recognize these things.
And this is why it is not surprising
to find kuffaar or people with the low Ian
and, you know, insufficient knowledge of our Deen.
It's not surprising to find them denouncing certain things which are beloved to Allah subhana wa into Hydra. And so, they they they look at them as being nasty and being disgusting or being wrong.
And this is an example of that, this Hadith of the bad smell emitting from the fast in person,
a car field
will see that as being disgusting or a person with low EMF
he will see that as being something disgusting.
And there are so many other examples that we can give.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned that the blood of the martyr, who dies for the sake of Allah subhanho wa Taala is more pleasant to Allah than the smell of misc.
Others they will find you know, they will find that to be disgusting.
Likewise, and this is a common example that we can mention here.
When you go to make Waterloo in a public bathroom, and you put your feet in the sink to wash your feet.
People find out to me disgusting, but you don't find it to be disgusting. A Muslim does not find it to be disgusting.
And in this way we can mention example after example. And so the point is that
the people have a man
they see things
with the lens of their email
that Allah Subhana Allah has given to them. And so what is pleasing to Allah is pleasing to them. And what is not pleasing to Allah is not pleasing to them. And with that we will end and we come to the end of tonight's session in sha Allah, Allah next week.
We will continue on with the remaining parables mentioned in this hadith Subhana kolodner behind the Shadwell, and Estelle Furukawa to buoy Lake sallallahu Sallam Allen had been hammered while early he also be a Gemini he was Salaam Alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
