AI: Summary ©
We started this chapter yesterday. We didn't have
time to finish it.
The,
chapter regarding the recommendation of
putting the right forward,
when
in in everything that is honorable, like making
or making.
Right? So making with the right before the
left or washing the right side before the
left side. Or or when you wear clothes
or put on shoes
or put on hoofs,
which are leather socks and by extension probably
socks,
and putting on your right pant leg first
and entering the masjid
with your right leg first and making this
walk on the right side of your mouth
first and putting
in your eyes with the right eye first.
Do you guys know what is? It's a
glue.
It's not eyeliner
it's not eyeliner that Egyptians use. It's
it's a powder it's a powder of a
specific, like, mineral, right, that that people put
in their eyes. It's good. It cleans your
eyes out. It's good for your eyes. It's
used as a medicine.
It also does leave like a black there's
a difference between mascara and
it leaves a black
ring around your eyes.
And so women use it for for,
cosmetic purposes as well.
Men are not really supposed to use it
for cosmetic purposes but the prophet used to
put it in his eyes before he goes
to before he went to sleep. And most
much much of it washes out by the
next day but some of it is still
left.
So there's the
the recommendation of putting kohulu in the right
eye first and cutting your nails from the
right side first and,
you know, trimming your mustache from the right
side first. Right? Is Haram gonna let your
mustache come over your lip?
Right? There's a difference of opinion amongst the
ulama whether you should shave it or not.
Some of them consider it to be. Some
of them consider it to be permissible.
But it's haram by all of them. They
say it's haram to have the mustache come
over your lip. So where your lip starts,
there should be no hair on top of
that.
Plucking the hair from your armpits so you
do it on the right side first.
If you shave your head, you start from
the right right side.
Right? When when when does a person to
shave their head?
Umrah. Hajj and Umrah. Right. I mean you
can do it. It's permissible otherwise but in
this
specific occasion of Hajj and Umrah it's something
that because it's an act of piety you
should start with the right side first.
Right? Say
on the right side. You don't say it
left side first. That would be weird.
That you eat with your right hand and
drink with your right hand.
That you do with your right hand or
with both both hands, but you don't do
with your left hand.
If you're gonna
that when you make,
when you make,
Hajj,
you know, if you if you make a
with a black stone from far away with
your hands,
then you do it with if you're gonna
do it with only one hand, do it
with the right hand unless you're from like
we talked about before.
And then,
leaving the the bathroom. When you leave with
the bathroom, you leave with your right hand
right foot first.
And when you take things and you give
things, you do
it.
And anything else that that's analogous to that.
Right. And so Imam Nawi starts with some
further text that, you know, clarifies
And then it's also recommended to use your
left,
for all the things that are the opposite
of the things that we said before. Like,
like blowing snot out of your nose with,
spitting something up.
You spit to the right sorry, to the
left. And entering the bathroom, room you enter
with the left foot and leaving the masjidil,
leave with the left foot.
Right.
And
when you take your shoes off or you
take your hoofs off, you take off your
left
one first.
You take your left
leg out of your pants first when changing.
With
and you take your left out first when
you're changing your clothes, your left arm or
whatever.
When you make a when you wipe yourself
after using the bathroom with water,
you use your left hand.
And, all things that have to do with
something dirty or something that resembles that are
similar to that. All those things that you
should you should do them with your left.
The ones who are given Allah Ta'ala Sazin.
In his book in Suratul
HaWa.
The person who was given their their, book
of deeds on the day of judgment in
the
in the right hand. And then they're saying
they're told here take take, you know, take
my book and read it.
Read what's inside of it. What is the
significance of that, of being given your given
your book of deeds in your right hand
on the day of judgment?
It's
it's it's it's it means you passed.
You're going to Jannah. It's a sign that
you're going to Jannah. Why? Because they gave
you your book of deeds in in the
manner of a person you're honoring.
Because the punishment continue the punishment starts from
the time a person dies, and it will
steadily escalate
until the person enters enters the hellfire. So
if the angels are nice enough to you
to give you your book in your right
hand, that means that the book is something
honorable. It's a good thing. You know, it's
something more like entering
the masjid and less like entering the bathroom.
You understand what I'm saying? So that's something
good. Allah taught, you know, give us all
so much that we receive our book of
deeds in our right
hand.
The right hand and the people of the
left hand who are the people of the
left hand.
Is not like left hand. Usually they use
the word
but,
is like like a bad omen.
It's from a from a bad omen. Why?
Because remember we talked about the the the
way that the Arabs used to take omens
in Jahiliyyah. They used to run after a
flock of birds. And if the birds run
flock right, then it it means that whatever
decision you wanted to do is a good
one and if flocks left, they consider it
to be a bad omen.
Is the word for a bad omen, but
it's also synonymous with the left hand.
It's also synonymous with the left hand for
that reason. So Allah
calls the people who are the the good
people, the the normal righteous people, the normal
good people, he calls them what?
The people of the right hand.
And the people who are going to jahannam
are referred to in the Quran as the
people of the left hand, the people of
bad omen, the people who
who the people of the left hand.
When Aisha
in everything he did.
Meaning everything good he did,
including when he would make wudu
or when he would comb his hair, his
hair would be combed, or when he would
put his shoe, his sandals on. It's
narrated both in Bukhari and in Muslim.
He says that the messenger of Allah Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam
his right hand was for for his purification
and for his food and his left hand
was for,
using the using answering the call of nature
and taking care of things that are like
that are like,
that are not clean or that are like,
literally means something that's like something that disturbs
you. But here it means it means
like washing unclean things.
So hadi narrated by Abu Dawood.
What's the what's the significance of
in narrating these hadiths?
She was the wife of the prophet
So she observed him in the home,
you know and had more chance to see
him than other people did. So his like
normal daily habits, she she she knew about
them.
So,
narrates
that,
her daughter,
Let's see. What did he say?
That her daughter Zainab, when she died Mhmm.
Her daughter when she died,
she was,
the prophet
was instructing her on how to watch the
body.
And so the said,
start you know, he said to the group
of women that were going to watch the
body, start with her right side, you know,
meaning watch the right side before the left
side and and start with the
the the the limbs of wudu first. Right?
Because this is how a person makes ahusl
also from amongst the living.
Right? How does a person make?
The first thing you're supposed to do is
wash whatever
is there on the body. Right? If there's
any
on the body,
blood, urine, feces, *, whatever,
those types of things. There's any in the
body. You watch that first.
And then after that, you make like the.
Then after that, you watch the rest of
the body. Anything on the right hand side
first and then the left hand side afterward
from top moving from top to bottom.
Right? That's the sunnah way of making hussul.
So when you make hussul, give the hussul
to the dead body. Obviously, dead person can't
do it for themselves so then you just
do that for them, which is what again,
if there's any on the body, you clean
the private parts and whatnot. Right? It's
you know, the old books, they say that
that you should put, like, something that's not
super heavy, but of some weight on the
stomach of the of the deceased. And so
as to put, you know, put pressure and
push out whatever is inside, you know, like
whatever
urine or feces or whatever that is kind
of about to come out but it isn't
out yet and then you watch it. Nowadays,
the bodies come from the morgue mostly
and so it's not gonna make any difference
because the body is so cold by the
time it gets to you.
But, you know, that's what you do. You
wrap like, you know, just
a wrap like a towel. There are towels
at the funeral home to to wash the
bodies with. You should bring a bunch of
towels if you're gonna wash a body. Right?
So you wrap a towel around around your
hand and just without looking from underneath the,
underneath the, sitter,
Just watch the person. Right? Have 1 person
with the water hose and 1 person with
the towel. Just watch the person like you
would watch somebody who, just got done using
the restroom, like, or something like that. You
have the towels around your hands so you
don't feel the private parts, and you don't
look at them either. But you just, you
know, just push a little bit on the
stomach and then watch all that stuff that
comes out like that. After that's clean, then
what do you do? You wash the the
limbs of wudu. 1st, the hands. Right? The
the the hands usually like, they look kinda
weird because, like, the the all the muscles,
they kind of retract in a weird position.
So you just watch the hands, get in
between the fingers.
Right? And just watch the hands, the right
one first and then the the left one
afterward.
Right? And then, nowadays, I guess before even
any of that, because they come from the
people the bodies come from the hospital, so
they have a whole bunch of catheters and
things like that. They you sometimes they take
them out. Oftentimes, they don't take them out
to remove all that rings and things like
that. It was kind of
difficult, to do, but you have to remove
all those things to the water, who can
get to the skin.
But,
you know, you you you watch all of
those things. Sometimes if you remove a catheter,
it'll start to bleed.
Even though the body has been dead for
some time, the body will start to bleed.
So just squeeze gently, let a little bit
let the blood come out. If it doesn't
stop bleeding,
then take,
like a cotton and tape and just, like,
what you call wrap it tight like a
bandage,
right,
after you're done washing it. But, yeah, yeah.
Wash the limbs of first, and then again
from the head to the to the toe,
right hand first, left hand right side first,
left left side afterward, top first, bottom afterward.
And, just wash the entire body. And the,
which is between the navel and the knees,
you wash it with you wash it with,
with a towel from underneath from underneath
a cloth that's over the body or from
some barrier. You're never to expose the nakedness
of a dead person ever,
just like you're never never to expose the
nakedness of a living person ever except for
a need. Once they're dead, there's no more
need to do that anymore. When a person's
living, you may need to, like, do some
medical operations. When a person's dead, it's not
gonna make a difference anymore. So wash them
underneath
the from underneath the, the the, what you
call, the cover.
And then after after they're done with the,
right, and you can do do the, you
know, wash the limbs also with soap if
it's necessary or beneficial.
After you're done with that, then it's a
to also perfume the body. When you perfume
the dead like to perfume the living,
You put the perfume on on the place
of the so on the forehead
and on the tip of the nose and
on the hands
and then afterward, you can perfume the rest
of the body if you wish to perfume
the shroud and whatnot as you wrap the
person up in the shroud and they're ready
to be buried.
You should people should volunteer. If you haven't
watched the body yet, it's an act of
piety.
It's good for you. It will kind of
give you something to think about
with regards to your dean as well. And
it's also you did something to help somebody
and the reward they're not gonna be able
to reward you in this world, but the
reward will be there for that. Yes?
I was able to do
Yeah.
You had the honor of being able to
to to serve your grandfather by washing his
body as well.
Forgive him his sins and increase his.
So the issue regarding the wife and husband
the wife, the husband is watching the wife's
private parts, the wife is watching husband's private
parts. It's still it's still at that time,
it's for
for them to look at the private parts.
You should probably still use the towel
because there's no
the the the halal reason for
for that is finished now. There's a difference
of opinion amongst
The imam says that it's haram for a
husband to watch the body of the wife
and the wife to watch the body of
the husband because the marriage is terminated at
the time of death of 1 of the
spouses. And the for that is obviously, like,
no one's gonna
no one here is probably gonna end up
doing this. But, like, if a man's wife
dies, he has no so he can immediately
marry 4 more wives. So it's a diliel
that is is lawful. It's a diliel as
a proof that the marriage is done. So
he they they forbid the husband to watch
the wife, the wife to watch the husband.
They
say no. Although that's true what you said
is true that the the
the the they're no longer considered legally married
but
Sadna Ali
who watched the wife watched the body of
Sadna.
And if there's anyone that they would have
forbidden it, if it was if it was
haram, it would have been for the daughter
of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. So
that's their deli. But at any rate, still
a person should a person, you know, still
it's
it's better more in line with the of
the deceased that you not expose their their
aura. Yeah? Aren't she gonna be with your
wife in general?
What? Doesn't that not end up But firstly,
you gotta get married first. Right? No. No.
There's no difference.
Yeah. No. This yeah. You will you will
be you will be with your wife in
Hopefully, all of us make
it. Yeah.
If a woman has been married to more
than one man in this world, then she'll
be allowed to choose who she she's with,
you know?
So be nice to her. If you die
first and then someone nicer than you marries
her, then you'll be yeah.
My wife's teacher is
she end up Hanafi.
And this has
said that even for the former husband
Mhmm. To look at
The the body of life. His former wife
once she's passed away and vice versa because
she's no longer. No. He's Muhammad.
I had a question,
regarding the right side. I said you said
you wash,
for the living souls that right side was
left side with the next, do you do
you find the
entire right side of the body and then
the left side? There's a difference. Generally generally
speaking, you wash the top first and the
bottom Yes. Wash in order from the top
to the bottom and when you get to
something that has that's impaired, you watch the
right one first.
So you mean from the top to the
bottom, the right half of the body entirely
and then move to the left or even
right arm and then down right? No. Yeah.
No. You watch from top to bottom. And
if you get to something that's in Paris,
then you watch the right one first. What
Yeah. You gotta keep all of them. I
mean, some who
by the time he died had 9 wives.
Right? Why? Not 9 at the same time,
but, like, 9 one would die and then
another one he would marry or one would
you know, I don't know if he ever
divorced anyone, but,
I know that he had wives and then
they would pass away and then he'd marry
again. So then theoretically, you could have more
than that because the the limit of 4
wives
is only in the dunya.
It's not in the.
There's a there's a there's a rule. Right?
That thing which that thing which is haram
because it's innately innately
ugly or innately bad,
that you have it in Jannah.
Okay?
That thing which is haram for some other
reason. Right?
That is for some other, like, benefit. Like,
it's like there's good in it and there's
bad in it and just to avoid the
the bad. Like, for example, drinking.
Right? Imagine if somebody what if there was
a man who was able to drink alcohol
in this world and, like, still make it
to all of his prayers
and not, like, get a DUI and this,
that. It's still haram in this world in
our Sharia, but we
accept the fact that drinking in and of
itself, if a person were to do it
responsibly,
it's possible that they could do so without
really making such a ruckus. It's just kind
of a waste of time or whatever.
So that's why even some say that it
was not haram in some of the ummas
before us. But in our ummas, it's haram
because no one's gonna drink responsibly. Everyone's just
gonna get smashed and, like, out of the
10,000 people, you know, one person who will
drink responsibly is only there so shaitan can
tell the other guys, oh, look. See, you
can drink responsibly.
Right? So drinking there'll be wine in Jannah.
A person can drink the wine, and there's
no there's nothing wrong with that. You know?
So there are certain things that are haram
in this world
for
for because it's like the it's because not
because the the act itself is innately
wrong, but because
because of some other considerations,
some mitigating consideration.
So the the limit of having 4 wives
is like that. So if a man is
married so many you know, like married, like,
you know, properly, like,
maximum 4 at a time, even more than
4 wives, he can have all of them.
He keep all of them as his wives
in Jannah.
How many wives did the prophet
have?
I think 9. I'm not sure. 9. He
was given special permission. Right? He that was
Yeah. I heard it was At one time,
he had 9. He had more than that.
I should say
to Zainab's,
kind of
Well,
there's a difference opinion about her, She
was a wife or was she
just
a slave, but
and
I think there's like 12 or 13 total.
Yeah, 13 but like 9 at a time
I think.
I heard he married them so that he
could teach them Islam, like different tribes. Some
of yeah. I mean, there's there's some hikmah
in all of the marriages.
When when you say, mom, of
course, it's from the nest that there's gonna
be wine,
in but it also disqualified with saying there's
no intoxication. There's no intoxication.
So
why is it not
root beer?
The wine the wine in
in Jannah is not gonna make a person
drunk.
Right?
But it is still wine.
How do you understand? It doesn't come in.
No. There's no doubt station and Yeah.
Just a taste, I guess.
Hello. I'm sure I'll get to find out.
Let us know.
If one of you puts on their sandals,
let them put let them begin with the
right,
and when they take them off, let them
begin with the left,
so that the,
the right sandal is the first one that's
put on and the last one that's taken
off. That's why that's why when you take
them off, you begin with the left not
necessarily because you're beginning with the left but
more because you want to end with the
right. How do you exit the masjid or
Yeah. Same thing. You exit with the left.
Well, no. It's not the same thing, actually.
You exit with the left. So the the
right foot is the first foot that goes
into the masjid and the last foot. Right.
And then they're wearing the shoe. Yeah. Same
thing.
So the left look out first.
No. Look.
Entering the masjid, right in, right one in
first and then left one first to leave,
but it's not because the left is going
first. It's so that the right one can
be the stay in the masjid the longest.
No. What I'm saying is that
the the order of,
exiting the masjid Mhmm.
Is
Left foot first. So the left foot is
out first on the floor Mhmm. But it's
the right foot that enters the shoes first.
Right?
So That's assuming that your shoes are, like,
sitting there right where you're exiting, which is
a possibility.
Right?
So the what to do for that if
you have your 2 slippers in the door
and, like, brother, Roberto hasn't thrown them in
the garbage can, which you probably should because
you shouldn't leave your shoes like that. But
if that that is the case, then step
on your step on your left left shoe.
Don't put it on
or and then put your right foot on
for right right shoe on first.
Sayyidahasta
narrates that the Messenger of Allah
SAW used
to save the right for his food and
his drink and for his clothes
and he
would
leave his left for things other than that.
Not meaning for everything other than that but
meaning
for dirty things but she is saying like
as an for things other than that meaning
like for like using the bathroom but not
everybody's saying it. You know what I mean?
Not even to mention it.
Narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam said, when you wear clothes or
when you make wudu,
start with your right.
It's a hadith narrated
by with a chain of narration. It's not
a weak hadith hamdulah.
Okay?
So Sayna Anas ibn Malik radiAllahu ta'ala An
who
said that the prophet Messenger of Allah salallahu
alayhi wasalam during his Hajj al Akbar or
during his Hajj that he made last year
before he passed away. So he passed away
less than 4 months after this Hajj
Sallallahu
alaihi wasalam.
So when he came to Mina,
on the on the yom al nahr, right,
we don't say yom al id because
according
the person who's in Hajj doesn't have an
Eid.
When you're in Hajj, it's a different track
and when you're not in Hajj, it's a
different track. So the the what what the
Eid day is, I mean, the 10th of
Dhul Hijjah for the people who are in
Hajj, it's called Yom Nuhar. Yes, sir. Right?
If you're in Hajj, right, there's Yom Tawuya
which is 2 days before,
8th of Dhul Hijjah, there's Yomut Tawiyah, then
there's
Yomu 'Arafah, which is the 9th of Dhul
Hijjah, then there's Yomun Nahab,
which is the 10th of Al Hijjah. And
then there's the 3,
3 days of stoning.
Right? 1, 2, and 3. Those are the
those are the the 6 days of Hajj,
which end up being 5 for most people
because they make tajil. They leave after the
1st 2 days because they're not obliged to
stay till the 3rd day.
Actually, let let me rephrase that. All the
rich people
and lazy people
and sick people and tired people, but mostly
rich people and lazy people, they leave after
2 days. All the poor people who come
from, like, you know, the people like the
Allah is, like, beloved, like, actual Muslim people
who come from, like, you know, different places
to visit his house and things like that.
Those people stay for the 3rd day. You'll
see them. They're they're in large numbers. But,
like, if you go to the North American
tent tent,
the European tent, the, like, you
know, this country, that country, like, you know,
rich countries, they're completely like a ghost town.
Completely ghost town. That's the thing. Even if
you didn't pay for the deluxe package, you
can stay in the deluxe tents because they're
all abandoned. There's nobody there.
Yeah.
If you wanna stone if you wanna is
anyone here going on
Yeah. Well, yeah. If you want a stone
on the 3rd day, right, usually most of
the packages that come from America have a
cheap package and an expensive one. The only
difference between the 2 of them is where
your tents are in Minna. 1, you walk
like 15 minutes and you can stone, the
other one you have to walk for like
3 miles and stone. Right? If you wanna
stone on the 3rd day, talk to your,
your your guide. They'll let you stay in
the the the nice one for the 3rd
day because it'll be completely empty. You'll save
yourself 3 miles of a walk. I mean,
some of us could use the 3 mile
walk, to be honest with you, but you're
kinda tired by then. You know?
Yeah.
But,
I'm talking about myself. I'm talking about
myself. You can use it too but for
other reasons.
Other reasons?
Stay stay silent and you'll be you'll save
yourself.
So yeah, so the Messenger of Allah sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam on the Yom and Nuhar,
right? What what what do you do, right?
There's there's
there's 4 sunnahs of the Yom An Nahar.
There's a 4, sorry, wajibat of the Yom
An Nahar that have to be done and
it's a sunnah to do them in order.
Okay? It's a to do them in order.
It's according to the Hanafis
and it's according to the other
but it's at least it's a even if
it's it's still to do them in order.
1 is on the you go and stone
the the but
you bypass the first two and you stone
the last one. Right? And then the second
one is that when you're done with that,
you
sacrifice. You slaughter whatever animals you brought with
you for
sacrifice. And then the third one is that
you shave your head
and then the 4th one is that you
go for tawaf.
Right? They all rhyme in Turkish.
So means stone.
Means head like you cut and sever the
head of your animal and then
means to
like cut the hair from your head to
shave shave the hair from your from from
your
so if there's any Turks here, you're listening
at home, you can remember that inshallah.
Yeah. Yeah. Right? That's why they say, you
know, like, full on, that's because means like
head. Like the same
is the word for president in Arabic and
means head also. They're related.
Right? That's why in Turkish, like, they'll say,
like, you know, like, they'll call a they'll
call a person, like, you know, if you're
like some big shot, they'll call you Basmuhandis.
Like, you're the head engineer, the chief engineer.
It's like a it's like a way of
saying calling someone chief. There's a lot of
actually Turkish expressions in in Egyptian
army and that's why they answer the phone,
offend them and things like that. So why
does the prophet
did you just say who cares?
You ask for it sometimes though. You know,
like you get abused by and then you're
like, oh, why me? I'm so innocent. But
then like
on retrospect, you're kind of not. Anyway,
you should learn things. It's good. Learning things
is good. You should try it sometimes.
Really, it's good. Like, try it sometimes. You
might not you might not like or dislike
it. You too, Muhammad.
Learning.
You might enjoy it one day.
It might help you. So yeah. The prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam he came to Mina
on the Yamuna. So what did he do
first?
Yeah. Right?
He he he tossed. Right? He threw he
stoned
the the jalatul Aqaba. Then he came to,
his place in Mina. Right? And he pitched
tent the Nabi sallallahu alaihi wa sallam pitched
camp near the masjid of Mina, masjid al
khaif, which is actually at some distance from
from, from the, from the.
It's not, like, super close. It's not super
far either. It's kind of like in the
middle of Mina. Okay? So there's a big
masjid there, Masjid al Hayf.
If you try going there, good luck to
you,
and it is packed. It is packed. Packed.
You wanna read your salat there and stuff
like
that, more power to you. I've never tried
it. I probably am not gonna try it
anytime soon.
If you do it, make du'a for me
when you're there because it's gonna be very
difficult. Masha'Allah.
But the prophet
right, he he went back to his tent
in Mina then after stoning.
And,
then he did what? What did he what
okay. So we've done the tash. What do
we do now? Bash. Bash means what?
Yeah. Slobber the animal. Right? Okay. Cut cut
the head of the animal. Right? So he
he then right. As the hadith says, and
then he he slaughtered his animal, immolated his
sacrifice.
Right? What's left is the tarash, right, to
shave his head. So he said to the
so he said to the, the the, Sahabi
who was
who was to shave the head shave his
head, he said, he says take and he
he pointed to the right side of his
head.
Then he pointed to the left side after
he was done, and then he started to
distribute the hair to the people. This is
one of the things, right, that people are
like, oh, how come all these hairs of
the Prophet SAW, are they real or not?
They may some of them may be fake,
but some of them are real. And, you
know, if he had sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
he had very long hair. He would keep
his sunnah was to keep long hair sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam. And as far as I
can tell, the only time he didn't have
long hair was when he would shave his
head for
for umrah or for Hajj.
And other than that, he would just trim
it if it went down below his shoulders,
which very few people I think know about.
But the Prophet
used keep like long hair. It would be
the shortest it would be is to his
the ear lobes
and then the longest it would be is
touching the shoulders and it would be in
there somewhere. He'd trim it if it got
longer than there to somewhere between there.
They say,
there are 2 things that I left the
sunnah of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
on. And one was that he used to
wear an izar all the time. He used
to always wear an izar and I wore
shawl a lot. He used to wear a
saran waist strap and I would wear pants.
Make jihad's feasts a lot easier for me
because he spent much of his caliphate on
horseback,
but, but, yeah, this is something. So he
had very long hair and so if he's
gonna shave it, it's like a lot of
hair. Right? The prophet had full a full
head of hair adding salat waslam.
And so he he then had that those
hairs distributed to all those people that were
there. And in a different narration, there's more
detail. I said that when he stolen the
first Jamaraj and then he slaughtered his sacrifice,
and went to shave his head,
He gave he took he he he gave
his he offered the right side of his
head to the
the the barber first
and then it was shaved and then,
obviously the left side afterward. But he gave
the right side of his head first. Then
he called Abu Talha al Ansari. Who knows
who Abu Talha al Ansari is?
So Anas bin Ma'ak's stepfather.
Anas,
his mother's name is Soleim
and
she was a very, like beautiful and noble
woman of
of of Medina.
And, Abu Talha when the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallahu alaihi wasallam first made hijra, he was
the richest man in all of Medina.
She's like, I'll never marry a Muslim. Get
lost. Right? So he completely got dejected rejected.
Right? So he came to the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam in the sense that, like,
like, you know, this is somebody that she
respects. Maybe if I could talk to him,
you know, maybe she'll change her mind. Right?
So the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam explained
to her explained to him about Islam, said
she's not gonna marry you because you're not
a Muslim. Right? So what should I do?
Why don't you just become a Muslim? And
so he gave him the shahada and then
he married the 2 of them. Right? So
that's the reason one of the reasons I
mentioned this, right,
is
don't ever judge anybody. Don't ever say to
anybody, they only took Shahadah to get married.
Because this is a case that seems like
that and he's like one of the closest
companions of the masjid of Allah
There are a lot of stories about his
piety and about whatever and there are a
lot of people who make good on their
Islam. Oftentimes there are people who took Shahada
seemingly just to just to get married and
very quickly they become much better Muslims than
the people that they married. Yeah. You know,
sometimes it becomes a problem that they actually
just say I don't wanna be with you
no more because you're not a good Muslim,
you know.
But don't don't judge people. Whoever enters Islam,
don't judge people why they became Muslim. Okay?
Very very few if any of us became
Muslim because you know we just love Allah
and cry all the time because we love
Allah so much. Okay. Most of us because
our Amin Abu like made us pray and
like if we didn't fast we wouldn't get
like money and eat and then eventually we
ended
up thinking the Quran is kind of cool
you know. But like so don't judge don't
judge anybody. If someone becomes Muslim, just let
them become Muslim. Don't judge them. Right?
Don't judge them. Allah to Allah to Allah
to Allah to Allah, that's his job to
judge them. Just let people become Muslim if
they want to, even if it's kind of
you might think it's a little bit shady
or whatever. Just let them become Muslim because,
you know, which one of us, you know,
you know, is whatever is I'm sorry that
you're told me. Right? Yeah. Became Muslim. Yeah.
So Abu Talha so what happens is here,
right, it says.
So he
called Abu Talha and then and then he
gave him his hair and then he said
to Abu Talha that you go and distribute
it. Right? Uh-uh.
So he he shaved the right hand and
then he gave the hair to Abu Talha
and then he asked the barber to shave
the left hand side
and and, he also gave that hair to
Abu Talha and then he said, Abu Talha,
go and distribute the hair amongst the people.
One of the things I wanted to talk
about regarding,
regarding this is, like, you know, speculate about
what
the what the
significance is of doing things with the right
hand side.
Right?
Things like the right hand side and the
left hand side, they look very similar but
they're not
not the same.
How do you know they're not the same?
Because you're not superimpose your right hand onto
your left hand.
Either you flip it upside down, in which
case it's backwards,
the doctor has asked you all to OChem.
Right? You know about chirality.
They like the facts on it. No comment.
I it's so funny
to them. I I you know, I'm not
gonna say them. So
anyhow
so yeah. So
carbon binds to 4 things. Right? If carbon
binds to 4
different different,
what you call
4 different groups, functional groups, right,
It can bind in 1 of 2 con
confirmations,
an LNR, what they call enantiomers. They're basically
mirror images that are not superimposable
one on the other.
And yeah. Well, it's not just isomers.
It's not just isomers.
This is a specific type of isomer. They're
enantiomers in the sense that that they are
they are,
the only difference between them is that they're
the mirror images of one another.
Whereas other isomers, for example, you can have
an isomer. You can have, like, a hexane
and a hexane and cyclohexane.
They're isomers,
but their,
you know,
their conformations are very different.
Right?
Well, are they isomers or not? They're not
isomers. Hexane and cyclohexane are not isomers. But,
like, you can have have, like,
isopropane,
right, which is like
which is
which is 1 carbon that's bound to bound
to 3 sorry, there's one joint in the
middle and there's 2 carbons on each side,
right,
versus
that's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 versus just
a pentane, which are they're not mirror images
of each other. They actually look different, you
know, if you look at the model. Whereas
the the chiral chiral and and ant tumors
are a special type of isomer that they
actually,
they actually look exactly the same. The only
difference is that they're mirror images of each
other. Right? But the thing is, like, you
know and so for example, the peptide bond.
Right?
The peptide bond is also a chiral center.
Not the peptide bond itself, but the carbon
next to it. It's a peptide it's a
it's a
also
a,
a chiral center.
So, amino acids can be in the right
conformation and the left conformation. The amino acids
that make up, like, all the proteins of
all living things. Right?
Guess what? Every living thing is in the
left confirmation. If you use an
an amino acid that's in the right confirmation,
it's biologically useless.
It's it's biologically useless. Right?
Uh-huh. Right. Right.
Right. The r r confirmation, they're biologically useless.
There's no living thing that produces them. That's
how they can tell. Sometimes amino acids are
produced by living things, and sometimes they're just
produced by natural phenomena.
Right? That's how you can tell it's produced
by natural phenomena because you have an equal
mix of both,
of both confirmations
in the, you know, in the sample that
you have. Whereas if it was produced by,
like, a living organism, you'll only have the
the the right enantumor
being produced. So you have to have all
these enzymes that facilitate
stereo specific,
stereo specific,
production of of of,
you know, different types of molecules.
So there is there is something there is
something different. Allah in his in his
chose something you know to be some
for the left and some for the right
and
in line with that even a human being
has a natural
propensity
people. So someone might be left handed. Right?
But despite the propensity being flipped in a
person,
the right brain the right side of the
brain controls the left part of the body
and the left part of the brain controls
the right part of the body.
And
and, the right part of the brain has,
like, in terms of cognition, it does, like,
a qualitatively different job than the left part
of the brain does. The left part of
the brain is very
rational
and, it's it's very rational,
part and the right part is a very
creative part. Right? And so the creative part
is what
moves your left hand and the rational part
is what moves your right hand. And although
we all love creativity,
in western cultures
and everything is possible and you know, you
can do anything if you want to. The
fact of the matter is that that's not
necessarily a positive thing. There's only a certain
set of things that are worth doing and
a lot of things that are like
really bad for you. Okay.
So the path of Islam is what?
The supremacy of? The supremacy of what? The
supremacy of rationality
over a person's desires. Desires are not bad.
They can be good, but they should that,
you know, they should be driven by a
person's rational faculty,
not the other way around. You shouldn't use
your rational faculty. Be like a real smart
person who use your brain and and and
doing stupid things fantastically. But you should be
a really passionate person that's brain uses the
passion to do good things and to do
right things and to do things that make
sense. Right? So when you use your right
hand for certain things, it makes a establishes
a connection between the rational part of your
brain. Every time you use your right hand,
it establishes a connection between that action and
the rational part of your brain. And every
time you use your left hand for something,
it establishes a connection between that and,
the the creative part of your brain. You
know, this is perhaps something that there's something
deeper to it than a person thinks. It's
not just random, like, you know, otherwise why
is, you know, this this you know, why
is the right hand side and not the
left hand side? It's just a random superstition.
It's not random something as actually
it goes very deep into a person's, into
a person's, like, you know, neurological
makeup.
What these things have an effect on your
personality and who you are. What exactly that
effect is? Allah knows best. But one of
the meanings of yalmin is barakah, right? It's
barakah's blessing. And that's one of the things
that's one of the reasons people write with
their right hand with their right hand. You
know, most people, the ones who are right
handed, it's because the right hand is Mubarak.
Right? It has abilities that the left hand
doesn't.
And
even like rings, right? Most people, if you
wear a ring, if a ring fits snugly
on your left left hand, if you put
in the same finger on the right hand,
it won't fit. Why? Because the right hand
is slightly more muscular than the left one
than most people. Right? So there's a hadith.
There's an interesting hadith of the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam that on the day of judgment,
the
the
the the just ruler
will be will be on just
rulers will be
seated in pulpits, manabir, of luhr, of light
on the right hand side of Ar Rahman
of of the most merciful.
And the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam actually
clarifies in the hadith. He says,
It says that both sides of Allah Ta'ala
are Yameen. And the ulaman mean what? That
there's no deficient side.
Every everything connected with Allah Ta'ala's Mubarak.
Right? But when he says that they'll be
at the right hand side of ar Rahman,
it means that they'll be in a Mubarak
place. Not that to imply that Allah Ta'a
is a left side or something like that,
which is a sifat of of created thing
one of the sifat of created things, not
of of living things. Are there any questions?
Yes.
Yeah.
So it's fine. You can do everything with
your left hand. I asked
the because because there's, like, studies about if
you force, like, a left handed person to
write with their right hand, it's, like, actually,
it's not good for them, you know. So
you you yeah. So you that's fine. And
some people are ambidextrous.
They can write with both equally.
People are like, that's fine. It's not it
doesn't mean you're evil person or there's something
wrong with you. Just start your wudu with
the right hand and eat with your right
hand. Everything else that you want to do
with the left is fine.
And like don't and wash yourself with the
left hand. Don't do it with the right,
you know, when you watch dirty things. All
the other stuff like writing and all that
stuff, there's no there's no,
no sin or or
or deficiency in in doing that. That's fine.
They can do the skill work only with
the left hand side. Well, that's that's and
that's that's totally fine as long as you
make wudu with your right hand right side
first and you eat with your right hand.
And the, and then on the flip side,
you use your left hand for for cleaning
yourself. The rest of it, you know, if
you can whatever. If you're like a diamond
cutter or like you, you know, do, like,
nano circuitry or something like that, that's knock
yourself out.
Lucky. But, you
know,
You know, our people, the Indian subcontinent,
our people have gained a lot of, like,
gifts and benefits from the barakah, like, a
good beating.
I think there's a little bit of being
left that maybe we can benefit from as
well. Yes? Yeah. Yeah.
It's weird though. It's but that's the way
it is.
