Alhamdulillah, Allah has given us a tawfiq that
we're on the cusp of a great month.
It was on an occasion in a time
similar to this time that the Rasul Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam gathered his companions
and gave them
a exhortation,
which started with the words
Said, Nas Salman Fabsi radiAllahu ta'ala who narrated
that hadith,
that the Rasul salallahu alaihi wa sallam, he
mentioned that a great month,
a magnificent month,
a month in which Allah Ta'ala has given
barakah.
Because the amount of hours and minutes
and days more or less are the same
as in any other month. However, Allah
has made this the shahrmu barak. Allah has
made this the blessed month.
Rasulullah
mentioned in this hadith,
That this is the month in which
the shayateen are chained up.
The shayateen, which according to the muhaddithun
here means
jinn.
That the jinns, those jinns that are just
there to cause mischief, those jinns that are
just there to
insinuate evil inside of a person's mind, and
to give a person evil thoughts, that they're
chained up. They're disabled in this month. They're
not able to affect you anymore.
This is such a month in which the
gates of Jannah are thrown open,
and the gates of the hellfire are chained
shut, and criers in the heavens they say,
O
person who desires,
O person who desires good,
this is your time to stand up and
come forward.
And O person who desires evil,
this is your time to fall short. Take
a vacation, take a break from your desire
for evil.
What does it mean that a crier
cries something out in the heavens?
Neither do the pious people hear it, nor
do the impious people hear it.
Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam explained to the
ummah
realities that people
don't see,
and they don't hear, and they don't taste,
and they don't touch, and they don't smell.
And the beauty of the
Rasul's ability to explain things
was that he explained
those things that a person doesn't have any
sort of example to fall back on,
In such an effective way that even an
illiterate person, even an unlearned person, even a
simple minded person will understand what it means.
What does it mean that a crier calls
out in the heavens that, Oh person who
wishes good, this is your time to come
forward.
This is your time to make your move.
It means
that there is some sort of signal, there
is some sort of effect, there is some
sort of
energy,
there is some sort of impact
that comes from a place that's transcendent
above this
material world that we see, smell, taste, touch,
which empowers the person who has a desire
in their heart for good to act on
that desire.
How many people have a desire to do
good in their life,
but they're not able to? There are people
who want to go to Hajj, they don't
have the money. There are people who want
to fast, but their
health has left them.
There are people who wanted to pray fajr,
but they weren't able to wake up.
Some of them on purpose, some of them
not on purpose at all.
My dear friend,
who is also a an an imam, and
he is a scholar, and he's a teacher,
and he is also an imam in the
masjid.
He said this, he said that his son
was sick.
He had to go to the emergency room.
Literally in the the minute that the bayan
was going to start last week,
and Jo'an, his son became so ill, he
had to, after entering the masjid, he had
to put the mic down, ask somebody else
to give the the talk, and to lead
Juman, pray the Friday prayer to take his
son to the emergency room, and he's been
in the hospital since then. Allah ta' give
him and everyone else from the Ummah Sayyidina
Muhammad
and everybody else from his creation, shifa from
whatever, ails them in their bodies, and in
their minds, and in their hearts.
So people wanna do things, they're just not
able to. For whatever reason.
Some of those reasons
are entirely not our fault, and some of
those reasons are entirely our fault, and some
of those reasons are mixture between bad choices
that we've made in the past that we
may regret,
but that we are shackled with the
ill effects of, combined with a number of
other circumstances that are not of our choosing.
The fact is people
some people want to do good.
This is your time. This is your time
to do good. It never ceases to amaze
me. It never ceases to amaze me. Every
Ramadan, those people a person wonders, does this
person have any connection to Islam whatsoever or
not? And these are bad thoughts. These are
not thoughts that a person should entertain. We
should think the best of other people. We
should never look down on another person. We
should never despise another person. Because people,
just like we have excuses, people have excuses.
Just like we have problems, other people have
problems.
But, you know, these thoughts, they enter a
person's mind, sometimes sometimes involuntarily.
And then Allah to Allah shows us the
answer.
That's the same Ramadan, that person who you
see ignoring the hakam of deen, you see
in fact
opposing the hakam of deen. You see in
fact
resenting
the rules of the sharia, resenting the the
conduct of the pious, resenting the ways of
our forefathers
who preceded us in faith. You see those
very same people
in the masjid lining up their, mashallah fist
fighting each other for a place in the
first safa, in the first row.
Mashallah, there's still places. There's 1, 2, 3
places in the 1st row. Rasulullah
by the way, he said this. He said
this. He said that if you knew if
you knew what the benefit of the first
row was, there'd be such a fight over
who gets to sit in the 1st row
that they would only be able to do
it by drawing lots.
Go ahead. Just because the elders are not
doing it, doesn't mean that you guys have
to follow their way. Right? Go ahead.
Otherwise, one of the old Babaz is gonna
take it, and you're gonna be out of
out of luck. Right? Go ahead. There's a
place right here, there's a place, there's enough
for everybody, masha'Allah.
Youbaazulkhir
aqbir, come forward. Literally means come forward.
The one who wants good, come forward.
Look, if being super pious in the masjid
is not your thing,
because it's not everybody's thing.
Obviously, those things that are not your thing,
you make them into your thing by practicing.
Because it's hard at first, but you readjust
your habits to make them good.
That's one way a person
improves in their deen and in their iman.
But there are things that you're good at.
If you're
wealthy,
give money and charity if you cannot pray
as much as other people can pray.
If you have any other skill, nobody is
born good or bad. Nobody is born good
or bad. It's how you use what Allah
gave you. If you have no skill whatsoever,
you just sit shut in a room the
entire day.
Some of those people are the most valuable
people in the home of the Prophet
through their prayers, and through their dhikr, and
through their
duas that they make for others. Whatever your
thing is, whatever you have access to right
now, this is the time to pull it
out and make it shine. I remember there's
an auntie in a masjidah used to be
imamid.
She used to work the night shift at
a lab because people get their blood drawn
or they give their whatever samples in the
day, and then they have to process them
at night to get the results the next
day. So she used to work the entire
night shift in the lab, starts somewhere like
half an hour before Mahdiab's,
her shift, and then it ends somewhere like
an hour before Fajr.
She used to come with a fast to
the masjid,
and she used to cook for everybody the
entire iftar. It was a college town, so
she would ask the MSA kids, what do
you guys like to eat? And she would
cook for everybody, and the food would be
left in the masjid for them to eat,
and then she would leave.
A person
who
wants
to say things,
want to flap their tongue and say, look
this she doesn't even pray the masjid. She
doesn't pray tawiya.
She doesn't make khatam with the Quran. She
doesn't do this. She doesn't do that. She
doesn't do the other thing.
What does she have to cry about? I
don't know anybody in that community who received
more reward than her. If I were to
guess, Allah knows.
Allah knows who receives what and who doesn't
receive anything else. But if I were to
guess who receives the most reward, who knows
who receives more reward than such a person.
The point is you're not going to say,
well she's not a afidah, she didn't make
this many khatams of Quran, she didn't make
it to the masjids for this that, and
the other thing. Rather, this is the time,
the person who wants some some good in
life. This is your time to step forward.
And if you can't do something that big,
if you can't cook for the entire m
s aid, then just cook for
your family.
If you can't do that, just cook for
yourself. Allah ta'ala will put the reward for
the person, that's all that they can do.
Allah ta'ala puts the maximum reward in it
for them as well.
Whoever wants something good, whether it's through your
money, whether it's through your ibadah, whether it's
through your reading, whether it's through your listening,
turn off your music.
Turn off your entertainment.
One of the most ridiculous forms of entertainment.
You know, they have, like, the the the
WWF wrestling. It's fake. It's not real. Right?
They they, you know, like, show show off
and they talk garbage about each other. You
know what's just as fake as it? Half
the news is just as fake as that.
And nowadays, mashaAllah, everybody says fake news. I'm
not talking about the part that you think
is fake news. The part that you think
is real, half of that is fake as
well.
It's okay. The world will keep turning without
your expert analysis.
No matter who's president, prime minister, no matter
who slapped who, no matter who did what.
All of it will still be there after
the the moon decided for Eid, for Eid
al Adha,
for Eid al Fitr.
They'll all be there. They'll all be there.
They'll all still be there.
Everybody individually has a need.
Everybody individually has a need for salvation to
be saved on that day.
No matter if your
party wins, if the Republicans win or the
Democrats win or if your guy wins or
if your guy loses or if you sided
with this person, all of that.
Those questions may still be important for you
on that day, but they're all going to
take a secondary importance.
The real question a person has to ask
themselves
is what? Did I want something good? Did
I want something good? When I had the
chance to move forward, did I move forward?
It's a choice all of us make and
then we all have to abide by that
choice forever and ever.
And Allah
asks a question in his book. He
says,
Oh, human.
What has
deluded you
with regards to your Lord who is most
generous?
Allah gives us so much. Allah gives us
so much.
And we we sometimes don't even know what
to be thankful for.
There are people, whether they're fasting or they're
not fasting, somebody, if they eat this food,
they have an allergy that it's gonna kill
them. Somebody has diabetes, if they eat sugar,
it's gonna kill them. Somebody, if they eat
fat, it's gonna kill them. Somebody, if they
eat this, it's gonna kill
them. Somebody, they cannot,
you know, get through the day without this
medicine. There's so many things Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala took care of for us. I'll give
you a personal example.
I had 2 stents put into my heart.
Being an imam is a very stressful job.
What I think other people
describe as an anxiety attack, I realized just
a couple of days ago. It seems to
be like every other day. It's a stressful
job. They put 2 stents into the heart.
The one of the new the the the
right main
artery in the heart.
When I was on the table, they kept
giving me the the the sedation. I wasn't
going under. I was conscious for the entire
thing. I felt the entire thing. The pain
was dull. It wasn't so horrible. But I
was just, like, watching the whole thing happen.
It was an interesting experience. I'm a student
of science as well. I have some interest
in these things. Right?
They put the the catheter into the heart.
The doctor says the right main coronary artery
is completely blocked. So I asked him. He
has the catheter in in I mean, it's
all in the heart right now. I'm looking
at the monitors, and it's lit literally, like,
half of the heart is black.
I said, how come I'm not dead? He
says, oh, don't worry. You young guy. You
exercise and you take care of your health.
He says, what happens is that the left
the left main
coronary will sometimes shoot what they call collateral
flow to the right side. It'll just grow
capillaries to the other side. This is why
you don't feel any chest pains or anything
until you really like start exercising
hard.
I almost cried. Why? Who knows to say,
alhamdulillah to Allah ta'ala for that?
Mankind, human being would have been a completely
viable
life form without this.
Who knew you were to thank Allah ta'ala
for something like this?
There are a 1,000 miracles that happen every
day in our life. Allah
gives us so much. This is such a
wonderful opportunity.
You also, me also,
what do we get the chance to do?
We get a chance to show
a little bit of that, that He gave
us so much that we get a chance
to say thank you to Allah Not even
to return the favor.
Not even to return the favor. If a
master has a dog, you're not gonna expect
the dog to go and get a job
and pay rent for the whatever. Right?
But the dog, when the master comes home,
if the dog stands at attention, wags the
tail, and, like, is obedient
and
and and, cheerful
just for a minute in the day,
then you think this is a nice dog.
Right?
The difference between you and me and between
Allah ta'ala is far greater than the difference
between you and me and the dog. Biologically,
we have some doctors and things like that.
We're all mammals. We all have roughly the
same anatomy, the same musculature, the same organs
inside of our inside of our being.
Allah gave us so much. You baalul khairaqbirl,
the person who wants something good, who wants
some good out of their life, and wants
to show something good to
Allah show something good to themselves and their
family, this is your chance to do that
good.
Whatever other things Of course to do evil
is always a bad thing, but what other
things a person wants to do that are
neutral? Just kind of like neither here nor
there. Save them inshallah. All of your favorite
TV shows will still be there in a
month, your favorite songs will still be there
in the month your favorite. I'm not saying
good, bad, do it, don't do it, it's
okay. It's not I'm not even making comment
about that. It's all gonna be there. It's
all gonna be there next month. This time
take a little bit of of time out
of your schedule, and give to Allah and
show him how much you are thankful, and
He'll give you an ability to show how
much you're thankful as well. Shahru luzadu fee
rizqul mummin. This is the month in which
the provision of the believer is increased. It's
mentioned in that same hadith.
That even the salakat you give, Allah ta'ala
gave it to you so that you can
give it just like an adult gives a
child, like their child, like $5 then go
put it in the mustard box, and they
feel like, oh, look. I'm proud of myself.
I gave salat, but your father gave you
the $5 and you put it in the
box. Right? Just like that, Allah gave us
all of these wasa'il in order for this
thing to open up. Now it's just time
for you and me to take a minute
and think in our heart that this is
such a great thing. I'm so happy about
this, and I'm so thankful to Allah. You
Allah, give me the opportunity also to fulfill
it. Give me the opportunity also to be
cleansed and to bathe in its light. Allah
ta'ala give all of us so much tawfiq.
Wassalaallahu ta'ala alaahi
wa sahabi ijma'i.
