AI: Summary ©
We've reached this Mubarak 11th night of Ramadan.
Allah
took us through the first Asharah of Ramadan.
We asked him to seal,
the account of deeds in it and protect
them until the day of judgement where they
can be presented in our behalf and on
our behalf and in our honor that Allah
present whatever good was there in it and
Allah hide and bury
into nothingness
all things that were unbefitting
and that
give us from its rahma
and from its barakahamin.
So today, I wanted to,
read,
one last,
portion of this book
on the life of Moana, Hussein Ahmed Madani,
There's actually more I wanted to read, but
I think we'll just cap it on this
one more portion,
lest people accuse me of tasib or pumping
up
my own.
Every one of the pious teachers who taught
the Nahu and Sarf,
the teachers who teach alif, ba, ta, the
children all the way through to the Mutakalimun
and those
scholars of the advanced sciences.
Despite their imperfections and despite their failings and
their shortcomings, all of them are ours.
And whatever wrong they did, we ask Allah
to forgive them and we don't imitate them
in it. And whatever good they did, we
rejoice and it gives us happiness inside and
we love them for it and we ask
Allah to accept it
and, all of them are are the ones
we've heard of and the ones that we
haven't heard of. And if anybody hears,
of any of the mashaikh of the different
or
of the
or of the different lands other than the
land that they're born in or that they
have affinity or identity with.
And they think, well, these people are nothing
And, our guys are the only real guys.
I don't see this as anything except for
a type of maharumi, as a type of
spiritual deprivation inside the heart.
So a person finds themselves, they should look
inside themselves, if they find themselves
feeling this,
feeling this feeling inside their heart,
then
they should they should seek help,
from Allah to Allah and seek help from
the Arbaab,
Arbaab min Arbaabi have al fun,
of how they can treat how they can
treat the sickness inside of the heart,
because the
is spread throughout the entire. It's not just
in,
India or Pakistan or the Arabian
subcontinent or Mauritania or Egypt or Syria or
Turkey or this place or that place
rather until the Yomu Qiyamah, allahu ta'ala, sent
it with the companions
in all of the directions and
it will remain
spread through the darul and through the world,
until Allah
decrees
that this, that this world should end.
And so whenever we hear of someone good
from anywhere in, we should,
have inside of our heart the tafir from
Allah to love,
the good. And if there's something to disagree
about, that's fine as well. You know, nobody's
perfect,
but,
they're all ours. They're all ours.
So we continue.
Moana Bayezid Pandor and his,
biographical work on, Sheikh Islam Moana San Ahmed
Madani. He compiled a section of,
the words of other
with regards to,
Moana Hussein Ahmed Madani.
The first person he quotes is Moana Mu
Mohammed Elias, who's the uncle of Sheikh Al
Hadith, Moana Zakaria, and one of the senior
Khilafab, Mullan Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, one of the
senior,
students of Mullan Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, and one
of the senior, first batch of graduates from,
from Deoband, as well as the founder of
the Jamaat Tablih,
and his personality
is is a big one. And,
it would be
it would be unfair to judge him based
on
the people that we see in Tabligh
nowadays with very few exceptions. And,
both him and his son, Mawlana Yusuf
were great masha'ik of the tariqa
and great olema and their malfuvat,
their their,
the books of their their sayings and their
teachings that were compiled by their students,
really are filled with spirituality and filled with
Nur,
for anybody who has a to read them.
And you don't have to go out in
Jamaat to do that if you don't want
to.
Mohammed Elias, the founder of the, movement of
Tabli, it's narrated from, Mawlana Hittisham al Hassan
that he said that
that ocean,
whose one goblet is difficult to drink, this
man has traversed and crossed all 7 oceans
and is still able to keep himself under
under,
complete control.
His son, the second emir of Tablih, Mawlana
Yusuf
says with regards to, Mullana Hussein Ahmadinee,
in the chain of great luminaries of Islam,
Hazrat Sheikhal Arabal Ajam,
the great, Razi and Mujahid of Islam, the
lover of hijra,
and jihad, the adherent to the sunnah,
the flag bearer of the knowledge of Islam,
the leader of the ulema, the Mujadif of
the time, the jurist of his era, the
most abstinent,
from the world and desirous of the hereafter,
the most enduring and generous and the least
formal.
Hazrat Maulana Hussain Ahmed Madani,
also occupies a place.
Whatever can be written with regards to Hazrat
is only the little which we can,
see in front of us.
Only Allah
knows, what treasures lie within. Only Allah knows,
what treasures lie within. These treasures are hidden
in the chests of men and shall only
be made apparent in the next world. Only
almighty Allah knows what pleasures had filled, in
the heart of this great personality
due to which he was able to bear
the severest of difficulties during every juncture of
his life. Bearing these difficulties,
Azeroth fought most courageously against the forces of
evil and sacrificed every second of his life
for the revival of the spirit of iman.
Spending the last moments of his life in
cries and duas in front of almighty Allah
Hazrat handed his soul, over to, the beloved
master.
This is really amazing. And I you know,
I wanna give a piece of islah,
a piece of,
of of advice
to our Tablihi brothers that's aimed at rectification.
Not aimed at just taking cheap shots or
potshots.
But Mohan Husayn Ahmed Madani never went on
jamat before.
And this is a a a malady that
I see some of our,
Tablii brothers that they have that when
the mention of any scholar is made, they
ask did such and such person go on
40 days or did they go on 4
months or are they one of our scholars
quote unquote.
And this is really wrong. This is very
wrong. Whoever perpetuates this is wrong. Whoever says
this is wrong. Whoever believes it's wrong. It's
obviously not the way of even the, Molana
Hazarji Molana Yousaf and Molana Elias before him
that see the glowing tribute that was made
to him. And, he never went on Jamat
a day in his life. Why? Because the
din is more than just what you're occupied
in. And this advice can go for more
than just the tablis, it goes to the
people of Tarikas and the people of Madrasas
and the people of
different
services and
the mouth of deen.
That don't look down on people just because
they're not,
engrossed in the thing that you're engrossed in.
Yes. The perfection of all things
lies
the final stretch of it lies in a
type of madness that you see nothing else
except for that one thing.
And, that's how
an athlete perfects his sport. That's how an
artist perfects his art. That's how a a
technician
perfects his technique. That's how a scientist perfects
his science.
But, being people of Deen, we need to
have
a breadth of vision, a wideness of vision,
as well as
a depth of vision. And the wideness has
to
let us understand that there are people who
are good people and who are the great
people of the ummah that may not be
occupied in exactly what I'm doing and not
look down on those who, may not be
completely occupied in it, right now. Otherwise, the
doctors think that we're the only ones doing
khidmat and everyone else is an idiot, and
the Mulvis think we're the only ones doing
khidmat and everyone else is an idiot. But
you cannot run a government
based on only teachers who, teach nahusarf and
who teach kuduri and who, you know, teach
alibbatatha.
They're important. They're very important. You can say
they're the the cornerstone of civilization, but the
cornerstone isn't the entire building. You can't look
down and deride other people.
You can't run a state without having,
you know, tujar,
merchants, and without having businessmen, and without having
academics,
without having people who have knowledge of material
science, without
soldiers, without mothers, without children, without all sorts
of things.
And so this is a note for all
of us to remind ourselves.
I fear an evil,
death for those who opposed Muana Hossein Ahmed
Madani
And I I'll add I'll tack onto that.
I fear, an evil death for anybody who
harbors
rancor and hatred for the oliya of Allah
ta'ala.
May
Allah purge all of our hearts for any
rancor or evil or hatred
of anyone who says La ilaha illallah
much as the Ahlullah or the oliya.
Who,
if you follow
on social media
through my teacher, Moana
Hassan Ustaji Moana Hassan, he sometimes
is fond of quoting him in his majalis.
He says, he said that,
he said that Muhammad Husayn Ahmed is the
oliya, the leader of the oliya in this
age. And there's actually a very particular
there's a very particular occasion for him having
said this, which is that, there was a
reporter, like, you know, like a reporter in
newspapers and things like that, during his age
that,
that actually,
because of the political
disagreement with Maulana Hussein Ahmadinee's politics,
he used to write
really, really, really nasty articles about him.
And,
that reporter was actually a mourid of Mullane
Ahmed Ali Lahori.
And
so
Mulan Ahmed Ali Lahori was a very spiritual
person as well and he was a person
who
people felt the the the imprint of his
of his kind of overwhelming spiritual state when
they met him or when they came in
proximity of him.
And so this, reporter was, you know, obviously
quite,
he he was quite taken by the the
the great stature of his sheikh, Mohan Ahmed
Ali.
And,
so the sheikh called his murid one day
to to to see him. And so the
murid
came and, this reporter,
and so the, sheikh asked him,
what do you say with regards to me?
Who do you think I am? He says,
I am,
I am convinced that you're from the,
that you're
from the people of sainthood.
And, the sheikh asked him,
he asked him, he said, if I told
you there was
a meeting every year in the Gar Hira,
in which all of the oliya were present,
once a year and that I also attend
that. Would you believe me?
And so
the the Murid says, yes, of course, I
would believe you.
Obviously, maybe some people are listening to this
right now and they're gonna be like, what?
Okay, don't believe it then. So he says
he says he says would you believe me?
He says yes.
I believe you.
He says that I attend this gathering every
year. And he says, do you know who
the head of this gathering is?
And he says, no. He says, Milan Husayn
Ahmed Madani. So just be careful when you
write your stories about him, you know. Hold
your tongue,
lest you say something that you don't need
to say.
Now if anyone normal said this or if
any, you know, kind of back closet Lombard,
Addison Villa Park,
Glendale Heights type person said this.
I would
encourage you to freely,
not
pay attention to what they say and to
probably stop hanging out with and associating with
such a person. But this is Maulana Ahmed
Ali Lahori. The man was a Mujahid his
entire life. He was taken from his home
in Delhi because of his, refusal
to pay obsequence to the British colonial master.
They tortured him.
One of my favorite stories about his torture,
not that I'm ever happy about the torture
of any of the Alulah, but the most
inspiring, I should say, is that one of
the tortures they did to him is that
they bound his,
his mostly unclothed body to a block of
ice
until he passed out.
Can you imagine that? To be bound to
a block of ice until he passed out.
And when he passed out his entire body,
just like shivering from hypothermia,
they,
basically,
untied him from this block of ice
and,
roused him,
to consciousness again. And they said, what do
you say now, Ahmed Ali?
And he says, I say now that the
body is
freezing with cold, but the iman has never
burned hotter.
Meaning I'm not gonna give you what you
want. And it got to the point where
they they they basically had,
you know, they had to
make a decision that what are we gonna
do with this guy? Because he's not gonna
he's not gonna obey and he's not gonna
accept us. We can kill him, but that's
gonna cause tumult, amongst the Muslims.
And so the the genius idea was we'll
exile him from Delhi
and we'll, send him to Lahore where he
doesn't know anybody.
And, Moana Ahmed Ali Lahore, he said that
that that that the,
the British, they exiled me in Lahore and
they thought I would die
wandering from,
alley to alley,
with nobody
nobody to help me, nobody I know, and
nobody who knows me. I'll just die alone
and forgotten.
So they didn't know that I carry inside
of my heart the Quran and that through
it, allata' will always guide me, to an
exit from my problems.
And,
you know,
that's the person when people like that say,
things like this. You might wanna pause and
consider that, you know, that this is not
just some sort of performative drama.
And in fact,
his,
you know, his teaching of the Quran both
to scholars and to lay people,
it became, such a big deal, such a
big deal that it drew crowds from all
around,
Lahore. And there are generations of olema that
that actually benefited from him. 1 of my,
one of my teachers,
Give him long life and,
ease and happiness.
His father, Moana Karimullah, was actually a of
Moana, Ahmed Ali Lahori.
And so and he was actually the original
sheikh of Moana Abu Hassan Ali and Nadwih
And so when people like this say something
like that, you know, you have to pause.
You should probably think about it for a
moment. Then if you don't wanna believe it,
that's up to you. It's between you and
Allah.
But if you don't wanna believe in the
fantastical and miraculous tales, then you should at
least,
give deference,
to the sacrifice and the courage,
deference that's due to every person who stands
in the path of Allah Ta'ala and makes
sacrifices so that the word of Allah Ta'ala
can be made supreme.
We read an extract from
the book Hayat Shefil Hind. It was the
biographical
work on, the sheikh of Muhammad Mahdi
written by Muhammad Mahdi Asrar Hussain Mia.
He writes, Molan al Hussein Ahmadine's amazing sacrifices.
Regarding,
the sheikh's sacrifices and the love of his
sheikh,
in this short treatise, I do not wish
to add anything from my own side. However,
keep this in mind that on the one
side, was the honor of being an Ustad
of Hadith in Madinah Munawwara,
the prestige of being amongst the nobles of
the blessed city,
a weak father to care for, and a
wife, and child who had no other support,
his own youth,
in the hopes of extreme comfort and luxury
in the future. And on the other side
was
such a life where one's every moment was
going to be filled with trials and difficulties
and where death would also be close on
one's heels.
Yet in the love of his sheikh,
Moan Hussein Ahmad Madani was prepared to sacrifice
everything. The incidence
of the extreme love of one's mentor and
Ustad,
which had been heard of in the past.
I was fortunate that my eyes were able
to witness directly how love makes sacrificing,
even one's own life enjoyable.
Yeah.
From another biographical work on
sheikhul Hind.
Hazus Molanim Hussain Ahmad Madani hails from the
district of Tanda in Faizabad.
His father was amongst the senior Khulafa of
Moana Fadur Rahman Ganj Murad Abadi.
Moana's 2 elder brothers, Moana Hussein Ahmad Madani's
2 elder brothers, Moana Siddiq Ahmad Sab and
Moana Saeed Ahmad Sab, were still studying in
Deoband when Moana arrived
in 1309.
Moana's age at that time was only 13.
Moana was extremely
fortunate
that Shekel Hind immediately took a liking to
him and out of his sheer kindness and
compassion even took out spare time to teach,
Moana, his elementary books of Sarf,
of Adab and of Mantik, of, of morphology,
literature, and and, Aristotelian logic,
whereas students of higher classes were anxious but
unable to get any of the sheikh's free
time. In this manner, Maulana completed his studies
and derived full benefit from Hazrat Sheikl Hind.
All three brothers had great love, honor and
extreme for Shekel Hind, but Molana was a
few steps ahead.
During his student days, there were many great
luminaries in Masha'i alive, but Molana was inclined
to none other than his teacher, Shekel Hind.
This is also something very important. Those people
who want to do like Ilmi tourism,
or Sufi tourism and go around and dig
a little here, dig a little there. Often
times they don't amount to much. Whereas the
person who finds what they want with the
teacher that they want and sticks to that
teacher until they,
fulfill,
their ijazat and they fulfill getting what they
want from the the the teacher and they
leave the teacher in a way that they're
pleased with him and the teacher is pleased
with them.
That's often times
a very good sign in a student.
For this reason, it says that during Moana's
student days, there were many great luminaries in
Masha'i caliph, but Moana San Ahmed Mandani was
inclined to none except for Sheikul Hind. For
this reason,
Moana Hussein Ahmad delayed in pledging allegiance to
anyone, waiting for the opportunity to put his
hands in the hand of his esteemed Ustad.
Whenever,
Moana Hussein Ahmad would seek permission to do
so, Shekel Hind would excuse himself.
Finally, when Moana's father,
his intention to migrate to Madinah, Munawara had
become firm.
Sheikul Hind advised, Moana to go to Gango
and to pledge allegiance at the hands of
Moana Rashid Ahmad Gangoi.
Fulfilling the desire of his Ustad in the
month of Shaaban 13 16,
Molana Husayn Ahmed traveled to Ganga where he
pledged his allegiance since Molana and his family
were due to migrate at any time.
Hazrat Gangui advised Maulana to proceed to Hazrat
* Sab soon as as soon as he
reaches Hijaz and to ask him for adhkar
and walaif.
So this is a beautiful story where he
wants to take Be'a with his sheikh, who
definitely has khilafa,
But since his Sheikh's Sheikh is still alive,
his Sheikh sends him to his Sheikh, rather
than trying to run up the tally.
And even more extraordinary than that, is that
since Sheikh Sheikh is still alive in Hijaz,
he said, you're going there anyway, why don't
you go to my Sheikh,
Hajji Imdadullah. Why don't you go to my
Sheikh and receive instruction in the tariqa from
him? And so in such a way,
the humility and the high rank of Mohan
Husayn Ahmed Madani, comes together,
and that was the humility of
those people.
Mohan Husayn Ahmed and his family then left
the left for the honorable city of Medina
Munawara, leaving behind them their family, friends, and
memories of 15 generations,
that they lived in, India. So they may
be closer to the Nabi
Upon reaching Makkah Mukarama, all performed Hajj and
then proceeded to Madinah Munawara.
After passing a few days of extreme difficulty
and hardship, they managed to settle down comfortably.
And as time went on, had houses built
for them as well.
Acting upon the instructions of his new Sheikh,
Mullana Hussein Ahmad once again traveled to Makkamukarama
to spend some time in the honorable presence
of
* Imdadullah,
where he was taught how to make thikr
and other important matters.
After spending a good amount of time with,
*,
Imdadullah,
Mawlana Hussain Ahmed requested permission to return to
Madinah Munawwara where he began teaching.
Molana's lessons became famous and many students
began driving benefit. Yet Molana still felt the
need to devote more time for his own
spiritual reformation.
Regarding his condition, many letters,
were sent to Ganga, until finally, Molana Rashid
Ahmad Ganga, he felt it it advisable that
Moana returned to India for a short while
to spend some time in his company.
Hajim Dadullah had, at this time, already passed
away.
Thus, seeking spiritual guidance nearby was difficult.
Moana's love for Moana Hussein Rashid Ahmed Gengohi
and Moana Hussein Ahmad's love for Moana Rashid
Ahmed Gengohi had,
and the concern for his reformation had made
leaving, his teaching occupation necessary,
as well as the, leaving the blessed area
of Madinah Munawwara.
Mawana's father had already spent a great amount
of wealth to immigrate.
Whatever was left was given to Milana's elder
brother, Milana Sadiq Ahmed, who had just,
left with an ardent desire to visit the
mashaikh in India.
Mawlana Hussain Ahmad had many students and associates
who would not hesitate for a moment to
help,
but forget asking.
Even a mere indication of his needs was
considered a a shameful deed. I mean, that
they were not ready to throw out the
the launch good.
May Allah help us all. We've got to
pay for everything somehow or another, but those
people their standards were different than our our
standards nowadays. May
Allah have mercy on us in our hall
and give us strength, like He gave the
people before us strength.
Mullan Hussey, Ahmed had many students and associates
who would not hesitate for a moment to
help, but forget asking. Mere indication of his
needs was considered too shameful of a deed.
Thus taking,
his father's duas and permission, he set out
for his journey with a very small amount
of wealth and reliance upon Allah alone.
Upon reaching Makamukarama
and performing Hajj, Molana was informed that his
elder brother, due to having scant provisions and
not being able to find a ship, had
decided to return home. Maulana Hussain Ahmed himself
had already bought a ticket but unfortunately found
to his dismay that the trip had been
temporarily cancelled.
Finding the opportunity, Mawlana, Hussein Ahmad returned to
Makkamukarama
and encouraged his brother not to return home,
but rather to accompany him to India.
Accepting his advice, both brothers reached Jada.
But since a great portion of their wealth
had already been spent, they found great difficulty
in finding a ticket that they could afford
to get to India.
But true desires,
make miracles happen, and love makes all difficulties
easy.
A very deceptively,
easy sentence to say.
But true desire makes miracles happen, and love
makes all difficulties easy.
They managed to purchase 2 tickets, on a
sailing ship for 10 rupees each. Obviously, the
rupee was worth a little bit more back
then.
With great difficulty and having to endure severe
conditions for one and a half months, they
reached Muscat,
and from there, they traveled by steamship, to
Karachi.
After purchasing their train tickets, they were left
with absolutely nothing.
Their hearts could not accept selling the dates
that they had brought from Adina Munawara.
Thus, they were, forced to part with the
sweet dishes which they had bought at Muscat
with the intention of presenting them as gifts
for their teachers.
So imagine that they had to sell the
gifts that they were carrying just to get
by. So they said, let's just sell the
sweets from from from Oman instead of, selling
the dates from Madinah, as the masha' will
probably appreciate the dates of Madinah Munawwara more.
With a little money earned from their sweet
dishes, they, managed to reach Saharanpur.
Moana's elder brother immediately left for Ganga while
Moana Hussain Ahmed first visited his honorable teacher,
Sheikl Hind,
before departing for Ganga.
The Kotb Kotb e Ala Maulana Rashid Ahmed
Gangahe honored the 2 brothers with new clothes
which had been specially prepared from before.
They were instructed with special,
adhikar
and acts of worship,
and in a short space of time, acquired
immense benefit.
One day after the Asar prayer in front
of everybody, Moana Rishi, the Ahmad blessed them
both with the mantle of Khilafa.
This was that honor, for which certain disciples
had sacrificed a great amount of time,
but still were not fortunate fortunate enough to,
acquire.
After spending a few months in Gungor and
acquiring immense spiritual benefit,
the sheikh left Gungor via Deoband for Madinah
Munawara.
Mawana Hussein Ahmad once again took his post
up as a lecturer of hadith in the
masjid of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
And in a few days due to his
sincerity,
ability, and the duas of his elders
made amazing progress,
and became the envy of his contemporaries.
In the year 13/25,
Mu'an al Mustafa Muhammad stopped his lessons in
the Haram to be able to pay a
visit
to his honorable and esteemed, teacher, Shekel Hind.
For 3 years,
Mu'an Husayn Ahmed stayed in Deoband, attaining spiritual
and physical benefit.
Mu'an Husayn Ahmad took up position,
a position of a teacher in Deoband, and
at the same time he studied, Jame'at Tirmidi
and Sahih Bukhari for a second time under,
Sheikl Hind.
Due to Milana's
Milana's presence and wise questioning, Sheikl Hind began
mentioning such points in his lessons which he
would normally not,
mention.
During this time, Moana Husayn Ahmed's nikah household
took place and his wife came over to
Deoband.
Mohana Husayn Ahmed could not bear leaving his
esteemed sheikh, but the order of his aging
father and the fervent desire of his anxiously
awaiting students,
forced him to once more to return to
Madinah Munawwara.
In 13/29,
Mawlana al Sin Hamid's lessons once again,
began and its fame, spread quickly.
I I wanna mention right now that, he
already had a halakah and he already had
students,
Yet when his teachers,
asked him to come and visit, he visited
and furthermore,
he didn't see himself as beyond his teachers.
And this is something really important that you
have to keep connection with your teachers
even if you feel like you're smarter them
than them or whatever, you surpass them. There's
a barakah in the spiritual link between teacher
and student that you have to
you have to pay honor to, otherwise there's
no barakah in your knowledge.
The sad thing is nowadays,
you know, forget about
keeping connections with one's teachers.
People no longer
even
you know, they no longer even stick with
their teachers. It's one thing if somebody studied
and they completed their studies and they're like,
Yo, now I'm a sheikh too and I'll
see you later, you know?
Here you see, Milan Hussein Ahmed Madani not
only received,
you know, he not only graduated from from
Deoban, but he also received khilafa,
not from his Sheikh, but from his Sheikh's
Sheikh, making the 2 of them, I guess,
equal in the in the shajarah.
But even then, look, he came back and
he was not too,
arrogant to learn how to teach and to
teach under the supervision of his teacher
even though, his teacher also appreciated the,
intellectual,
flavor that he brought to his teaching.
And this is the sign
of a great person.
And Allah save us from being those people
who just ghost on their teachers,
for the silliest of reasons.
It's like you you know were given a
pure cup to drink from. And instead of
drinking from it, drinking the shifa and drinking
the nourishment from it, you spit it in
it and then tip it over. It's not
a good sign. Allah
give us
So we,
we continue.
He said he could not bear leaving his
esteemed Sheikh, but the order of his aging
father and the fervent desire of his awaiting
students forced the Sheikh to return to Madinah
Munawara. In 13/29,
Moana Husayn Ahmed's,
lessons once again began and their fame spread
quickly.
Moana Hussain Ahmed had his prior had prior
to his niqah promised that he would bring
his wife to visit her family once every
2 years, to India.
Thus, in the year 13/31,
Moana Husayn Ahmed returned again to India. After
spending 9 months in the company of his
teacher,
Moana, Shevalhind,
Moana Hussein Ahmad returned to Medina Munawara leaving
behind his nephew to study under Shaikhul Hind.
During this period while engaging in his teaching,
Moana received the news of Sheikoh Hind having
left for Hajj.
After spending 6 months in Medina Munawara when
Sheikoh Hind was about to leave, Milana Hussain
Ahmed decided to accompany his stad to Makamukarama.
Unfortunately,
at that time, Sheikho Hind was taken into
captivity in Jeddah.
Mullana Husayn Ahmed realizing his success to be
in the company of Ustad sacrificed,
a life of the haram,
to join his, Ustad,
under chains.
For the next 4 years,
and we
in the previous,
track, we discussed that in some great detail.
For the next 4 years, Moana Hussein Ahmad
stayed with his Ustad and underwent the most
severe trials and difficulties.
It was during this period, during their month
of Ramadan, that Moana Husayn Ahmed actually ended
up memorizing the entire Quran,
so that he would be able to recite
for his Ustad in their Tawawi prayers
in jail.
During this torturous time in captivity,
Mawlana Hussain Ahmad was also disturbed with the
heartbreaking news of his 2 brothers being deported
from Madinah Munawwara,
his father's death, the news of his wife
and baby,
dying,
as well as the continuous news of death,
of other close members of his family.
This is because of the
this is because of the uh-uh
shameful embargo
that the Britain that their allies put on
the city of the prophet
protect it,
from the plants and from the,
plots of traitors and,
of feckless,
disbelievers.
With amazing forbearance and patience, Moan Hussain Ahmed
found sufficient condolence in the company of his
sheikh and did not allow himself to become
affected by it.
Now you see why in the previous tracks,
we talked about, like, things happening and the
sheikh was not affected by it. Can you
imagine,
can you imagine having to suffer such loss
and
then afterward, like, think about these, like, regular
annoyances of the world. Like, what do they
mean?
Shaykhul Hind time and again would advise Milano
Haysen Ahmed to
make an effort to obtain his own freedom
since the warrant of arrest had not been
issued for him, but for Shaikh Ilhin. Moana
Hussain Ahmed's answer would always be the same,
that may my life be sacrificed rather than
having to separate from you.
So Moana Bayezid, he adds this, like, line
of po this line of poetry in Arabic
that may
my, breath
leave my body,
at at your feet,
or over your feet. This is my,
the the worry of my heart.
The only,
grief that my heart, grieves for.
And this is my only, wish and desire.
After attaining freedom, Mawlana Hussein Ahmad always stayed
close to his Ustad. He would accompany him
on his journeys and be with him when
at home.
However, Allah willed that, Mawlana be tested with
another heartbreaking tragedy.
3 days before, the death of Sheikha Hind,
Mawlana was invited to by Mawana Abul Kalam
Azad,
who wished to appoint, Mawana as the head
of Islamic Education at his Islamic College.
Sheikho Hind ordered Maulana to accept the invitation.
While Maulana was still in Calcutta, the telegram
of the death of his Ustad, Sheikho Hind,
reached. In shock and grief, Molana set out
for Dili immediately,
but managed, to reach only after the body
had already been buried. The pain, and grief
of that must have been in the heart
of Moana at that time, for not being
able to spend the last few moments of
his Istad's life with him can never be
imagined.
During the month of Muharram in the year
13 40, Mullano was arrested,
from the home of Sheikul Hind.
During his court case in Karachi, Mullano Hussein
Ahmad
displayed amazing feats of courage. So imagine this,
he went
to visit the grave of Ustad that he
just separated from for a couple of days
and
he missed him in this world and will
not be reunited until
after
passing.
And then from there, he's arrested by the
British usurper in order to
stand trial for
being a free man in your own homeland.
Milana displayed, Amazing feats of courage and perseverance
to really be able to appreciate the knowledge,
qualities, sacrifices,
for one's sheikh,
people and country in fearless opposition to the
enemy of Islam,
in the court case of Quraati would require
an entire separate biography to be written regarding
Moana Hussain Ahmad.
This book, since seeing that it deals with
the life of Sheikha Hind primarily can only
allow so much space. However, in the biography
of,
Sheikha Hind exists the biography of Maulana Husayn
Ahmed as well.
Since Maulana Husayn Ahmed's life was so interwoven
with the life of his sheikh, similar to
the manner that the life of Sayna Abu
Bakr Siddiq radiallahu an who was interwoven with
the life of the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
Inshallah, we'll read, just a couple more pages.
I know that this has gone on long.
I also should be forgiven for this
indulgence
because of my love
of the mashay.
So, inshallah, if you wish to listen, you
can listen.
The last excerpt about his life from Maulana,
Shabir Hassanizami.
He says,
Mawlana Hussein Ahmad was born on the 19th
Shawwal in 12, 96 Hijri at approximately 11
PM on a Tuesday at a place called
Bangala.
He was named Hussain Ahmed. His lineage meets
with, Sayid Nur Hussain radhiallahu
alaihi salam.
His father, Sayyid
Habibullah
Saab was from amongst the
senior Khulafa Mu'ana, Fadur Rahman Ganj Murad Abadi.
Both his father and mother were known for
their piety, dhikr, and adherence to the sunnah,
and contentment.
Sayyid Habibullah had 5 children. All were blessed
with very high levels of recognition of Allah.
I believe I misspoke in one of the
previous
recordings that the name of the father, Mawana
Husayn Ahmed al Sayed Ahmed, it's actually Sayed
Habibullah's brother, Sayed Ahmed.
5 of their children were blessed with, high
levels of recognition of Allah.
Those children were, Moana Mohammed Siddiq,
a graduate of Deoband. In the year 13/18,
Hijri Hijri, he was blessed with the khilafa
from Maulana Rishid Ahmad Gungohi.
After the war, with Germany, he passed away,
in captivity of the Turkish government at
Adrianopolis,
which is Idirna, the modern Idirna.
And, I heard I heard myself from, Moana,
Arshad Madani, the son of Moana, who said
Ahmed Madani, who were blessed to, have with
us still
that, he said he said that,
my my I have a grandfather who is
buried in Idirna,
in Turkey.
The The second is Maulana Sayyid Ahmad, who
graduated from Deoband. He had pledged his allegiance
to Maulana Rashid Ahmad Gengohi, and he passed
away in 13/60
Hijri.
The third was Sayyid Mahmud Ahmad, graduate of
Darul Deoban. He also immigrated to the holy
lands of Hejaz and was appointed a jad,
a qadi in jaddah,
during the Ottoman time.
4th is, Moana Jamil Ahmed,
sayid Jamil Ahmed Afwan, and the 5th was
Sheikh Islam, Maulana Hussein Ahmad.
The youth and early education,
of Mullana Hussein Ahmad, his father was the
headmaster of the school in the district of
Milano was 3 years old, his father retired
and went, with his family to settle in
Tanda.
He received his early education directly from his
father. At the age of 13,
he was sent to Darulum in Deoban to
study under the great luminary of Deoban, Mullana
Shekelhind.
Mullana Sheikl Hind showed
great affection toward Mullana Husayn Ahmed right from
the very beginning, and even taught him some
elementary subjects personally during his free time.
Completion of studies and the desire of strengthening
his relationship with Allah.
After graduating from Deobandamulana,
Hussein Ahmad pledged allegiance at the hands of
Qutbula Ala Molana Rashid Ahmad Gangui.
In the year 13/16, Molana
migrated with his entire family to the noble
city of Madinah Munawara.
On the instructions of his sheikh, Mawlana
journeyed to Makkamukarama
to receive spiritual guidance from * Imdadullah,
the sheikh of his, masha'ikh.
And under his expert guidance, he traversed the
stages of saluk.
Upon reaching Madinah Munawarah, Mawlana Husayn Ahmed's father
distributed his estate amongst his family and said,
I have made the intention to migrate,
here and I don't ever intend to return.
Whoever amongst you wishes to go back may
do so. All replied in union, as long
as you stay alive, we shall not leave
here. Since a major position of their wealth
had already been spent, Milana's family found themselves
short of sufficient income.
Thus, they began trading to meet their own
expenses.
Sheikh Islam,
Moana Hussein Ahmadine began copying books which you
would sell and derive some income from. In
his free time, Mawlana Hussain Ahmad began teaching
and also studied,
books of literature,
under the famous expert of Arabic literature,
Mawlana Sheikh Afendi Abdul Jalil
Barada,
Rahimahullah
Ta'ala.
During the year 13 18, as was mentioned
before,
he,
Moana Husayn Ahmed and his brother,
Moana, Siddiq Ahmad, they came back to India
and received,
the Khilafa from their sheikh, Moana Rashid Ahmad
Gungohi.
Mu'anarashi
Ahmed told both brothers to present themselves after
the Asar prayer,
with their turbans. After tying the turbans,
on their heads with his own
hand, the Kutbul Alam asked, do you know
what this is? Mullana Mohammed Sadegh asked, a
turban given at the time of graduation?
And the sheikh replied, no, rather a turban
given while giving while,
the issue giving the issuance
of khilafa.
After returning to Medina Munawwara, Mullan Hussein Ahmad's
lessons of hadith
took on a new life.
His lessons were becoming more and more famous
and well attended,
even more than that of other Shami and
Arab ulama.
Sheik,
Mawlana Husayn Ahmed Madani began delivering lessons in
Hadith, Tafsir, and Fiqth,
and approximately 15 books would be taught daily.
For the next 6 years, he continued teaching
this manner, and his fame spread far and
wide.
By the way, this is not just like
a rhetorical flourish of, people pumping up their
own sheikh. There really are a number of
Masha'i from around the world who read from
him in that time.
One of the more famous ones is
the sheikh Abdulhamid bin Badis,
who was,
of Algerian origin during the time of the
French occupation.
He asked Maulana Hussain Ahmed Madani for permission
to migrate to Madinah Munawara. Maulana refused
and said you have to go back and
enlighten and uplift your people and teach them
and call them towards struggle against
the French.
And, his efforts
were significant
in,
unseating them from the lands of the Maghreb.
May Allah
protect the Darul Islam from the
designs
of of of ruthless and cruel
and, and,
unscrupulous,
enemies.
In 13/26,
Mawlana Hussain Ahmad returned to Deoband and stayed
there for 3 years attending the lessons of
his sheikh. In 13/33,
Sheikh Ilhin traveled to Hejaz for Hajj after
performing Hajj.
A verdict was passed by the government of
Makkamukarama
prepared prepared by some of the olamah declaring
the Ottoman government to
be, one of Fisk and Kufr.
And it was brought in front of Sheikl
Hind. Hazrat Sheikl Hind, without hesitation,
ignored the fatwa and made apparent its open
error.
On 23rd of Safar 13/35,
Sharif Hussein had asked,
Shekelhin,
and Milana Uzair Gul and Maulana Hakim Nusot
Hussain Kurdi
and Maulana,
Waheed Ahmed Kiranui,
he had them arrested and handed over to
the British.
Mona Hussain Ahmad Madini was arrested one day
before them.
They were all sent to Jeddah, and after
spending 1 month, there, they were deported to
Egypt.
In in Giza, there was a prison for
the criminals and those rebelling against the British,
in which there were approximately 200 foreigners in
captivity.
Majority of them were Muslims.
The names of Shekel Hind and his colleague
were,
recording with the colleague being Mohan Hussain Ahmed
Madani
were recorded in the prison files and each
one was allocated, to a separate room. On
the 23rd of Rabi'uthani 1335,
Shavu Hind and his associates were then deported
to Malta.
In the prison fortress of Malta, there were
people from Germany, Austria, Turkey, Egypt, Syria and
other countries. It seemed as if this prison
was more of a college where government matters
and current affairs would be regularly discussed.
Because they were the elite prisoners of the
empire.
Those interested would use their free time to
encourage their knowledge. During his stay in prison,
Mawlana Sain Ahmed, committed the entire Quran to
memory, as we mentioned before,
and benefited a great deal from the knowledge
of Mawlana Sheikl Hind.
Freedom from Malta,
marked the fight for independence on the 22nd
of Jamadu Thani,
Jamadu Okhra 1338.
Moana, sheikhul Hind and his associates were set
free.
It was at this time that the effort
to acquire independence from India had taken root.
Moana Hussein Ahmad Madani devoted himself fully for
this cause.
Shekhulhind's,
last sickness in passing.
Shaykhulhin was set free from Malta, and while
he was but this was while he was
critically ill.
The sickness soon developed into a disturbing fever
and led to,
Moana Shekelhin's,
passing 5 months later.
After the passing,
of his teacher, Moana Hussain Ahmad turned his
full attention to politics.
So much was,
Mullana's involvement that one becomes shocked trying to
imagine,
where he found so much time.
From 1923
to 1928,
Mohan Husayn Ahmed taught in Bengal. And there
are a number of Khalifa,
of Mohan Husayn Ahmed Madani, particularly in Sylhet,
in the northern part of Bangladesh,
and he brings both the tariqa and the,
teaching of hadith, the son of hadith, to
certain areas over there.
And thereafter in Assam,
as the main teacher of Hadith, during his
free time, he would travel for the purposes
of calling others to the obedience of Allah.
Due to Maulana Hussein Ahmad's sincerity and effort,
in a short while, the winds of knowledge
began blowing, which is true to this day.
Bangladesh
is a great center of the learning
of Islam, in particular, hadith.
Those people or those places which previously had
no more than a few oleman now became
gardens of knowledge. Amadirasa for higher learning was
established in Silat,
where thousands of students began studying.
In 1927,
Moana Hussein Ahmad was appointed as the main
teacher of the Darul Mun Deoband.
For the people of Silat to separate from
Hazrat was unbearable. Finally, it was decided that
Hazrat would spend his Ramadan holidays in Silat,
and thus,
until 1946
continued his practice.
1947 then being partitioned where Sylhet was then
no longer part of India.
Appointment of head teacher as in Deoband. In
1346
after the resignation of Maulana Anwar Shah,
the responsibility of assuming the chief position in
Deoband was offered to Maulana Hussein Ahmad.
Taking into consideration the well-being of the institute,
Maulana Hussein Ahmad accepted the position with the
following conditions,
that he would remain free in political matters
and won't stifle his political opinions, that the
institute will not become a barrier between him
and his political views, and that once he
will be given a a week off for
the sake of his, political activities.
Fulfill the responsibility of politics, tabli, teaching, and
administration of Deobanda all at the same time
is no easy task.
Only after sacrificing all one's time in bidding
farewell to rest, luxury, and ease can this
be accomplished. Mawlana Hussein Ahmad would give lectures
late into the night.
Travel the entire night, and upon reaching, the
madrasa in the morning, continue his teaching.
After the Maghrib prayer and,
after Awabin, which again is the
6 rak'ahs after Maghrib in Desi
custom, not in the actual terminology of hadith.
Moan Hussain Ahmad would accept allegiance and advise
his Murids.
After Isha,
Milan Hussein Ahmad would teach for a couple
of hours research, catch up with current affairs,
and then in the last part of the
night, engage in tahajjud, thikr, and pondering over
death.
It is quite clear that continuing with such
a strenuous program can only be accomplished when
aided by great spiritual strength. Otherwise, to be
steadfast with such a tight schedule is nearly
impossible.
Mawlana Hossein Ahmed Madani students.
During the era of Maulana Anwar Shah, Kashmiri,
the number of graduating students had reached up
to 90. When Maulana Shaykhul Islam began teaching,
the role
had reached more than 150.
The students varied between locals, Afghans,
Iranians,
Chinese, Turks,
Arabs, Yemenis,
people from, Anatolia,
Malaysians, and people from,
other parts of the world.
Like,
Java and Jazayer.
In 20 years of Hazr's teaching, approximately
5,000 students graduated under him. It's mind boggling.
If every student teaches only 10 others, then
the 2nd generation of his students,
those who learn by his students could well
exceed 50,000,
of which
I hope that I'm not ashamed to be
counted amongst them.
There were also others who, instead of only
book knowledge, blessed their souls with the spiritual
knowledge from the chest of Moana, meaning they,
were initiates in his branch of the tariqa.
Added to this were also those who studied,
under sheikh while he would deliver his, daily
lessons in Madinah Munawarah. In such a way,
we will find the number of those who
benefited,
from the Sheikh in the 1,000.
Adherence to the sunnah.
Nabi sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said none can
truly be a believer until his desires do
not become subservient to that which I have
bought.
If one ponders over the life of, Mawlana
Hussein Ahmad Madani, his spirituality, his involvement, his
simplicity, his informality,
and affection for the creation of Allah, one
will find that Shaykh's entire life, every word
and action was an embodiment of the sunnah.
At this present time, if anyone wishes to
see the practical demonstration of the sunnah, he
should look at the life of Moana Hussain
Ahmad Madani.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
give us a tawfiq to
enact
even some small portion of the example put
in front of us
instead of being the ones who cop out
and run from even acts of worship, much
less,
physical monetary and
psychological
pains and struggles for the sake of Allah,
instead of being the ones who cop out
and say, oh, you know, just make it
easy. May Allah, make us the ones who
stand firm and who have courage and conviction
in facing the enemy, whether it be outside
or whether it be
within our within our own nafs. Allah ta'ala
give all of us stuffyquassalla
Allahu barakkaw ta'ala. Assalamu alayhi
wa sahabi hijma'in. Again, my apologies for the
long
lesson.
