Allah clearly says in the glorious Qur'an
in surah Ikhlas, chapter 112, verse number 1
Say, He
is Allah, the One and Only.
Allah, the Absolute, the Eternal.
He begets not, nor
is He begotten.
And there is nothing
like unto Him.
This is a four-line definition.
And if anyone says that so and so
candidate is God, and if that candidate fits
in this four-line definition, we Muslims have
got no objection in accepting that candidate as
God.
The first is قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌۢ Say,
He is Allah, the One and Only.
Second, اللَّهُ السَّمَدُ Allah, the Absolute, the Eternal.
He begets not, nor
is He begotten.
And there is nothing
like unto Him.
This surah Ikhlas is a touchstone of theology.
Theo means God, and logi means study.
Thus, theology means study of God.
And if anyone believes in any God, and
if that God fits in this four-line
definition, we Muslims have got no objection in
accepting that candidate as God.
