The coronavirus pandemic has impacted businesses, including pawning and loans, and has caused people to return their wealth and offer charity. Finding a partner for a difficult situation is crucial, and forgiveness is key to helping individuals overcome tough situations. Debt reduction and using it towards one's priorities is essential, and gifts as an incentive are key to making a purchase in a timely manner.

Dr. Bill alameen wa salatu wa he was Salam ala Nabi Hill Karim Allah here follow Sana to attend with tasleem rubbish rockne sada divisively Emery Washington aka the Tamil lissoni of God walk my brothers and my sisters Sunday come walking up to LA he will walk out.
So I want to begin today's class by
asking Allah subhana wa tarhana to protect everyone at the Paramount location in Mississauga on Aaron Mills just noticed right before we went live that the entire restaurant is on fire right now and it's a pretty big fire. So Pamela seems like like the flames are cut right out the roof of the building. And that's the Aaron Mills location on
in Mississauga, the Paramount restaurants we asked a lot of hanway to enter to keep everyone safe and is very sad to see is happening. We know that Paramount, you know, and brother Muhammad phobia and the entire team at Paramount has been very helpful to a lot of people not only throughout this pandemic, but also in the years that have passed with homeless people in shelters, people living on the streets. They've been very helpful and generous and we ask Allah subhana wa Taala to make that easy to make this easy for.
For for the restaurant to turn around and to come back and to flourish in Shell dog Dad, it's it's really sad to see, you know, Muslim business Muslim restaurant that I'm sure many of us living in, in the GTA, especially the west part of the GTF probably eaten at that location quite a few times. I know I've been there many, many times.
So tonight, we continue on the topic of business transactions, and we were discussing loans and I said that we would finish up loans this week. In short, a lot. There's a few things that we didn't cover last week, just a few more things under this chapter heading of loans, and then we'll move off to pawning, pawning, right.
And we'll talk about that inshallah. So what we left off with was
repaying the debt in the best manner, so making sure that we repay it, you know, in the best manner,
on time, as much as possible even early if we can, you know, pay that debt back. And how the command from Allah subhana wa tada is there to repay a debt in La Jolla model come into a dual Marina de la jolla what you got her come to mean and nasty and tackle mobile idle. In the LA Honey, I'm the evil can be in the LA County Sunny, and we'll see it all, which is verse number 58 of Swords attorneys up. So Allah subhanho data gives us the command to return the loan, whatever we Lent, or sorry, whatever we borrowed from someone else, to make sure that we return and to make sure that we return it on time and also in the best manner that is nice and appropriate, in terms of what we give back
to the person who lent us that wealth. Today, we move on, and we look seeking ones due in a good manner. So if you are owed wealth, and I think we touched upon this, so I'll just go over it very quickly. Even armadyl, the Allahumma says, as well as a shout out the alohar. And she said as the messenger over to us and him said whoever demands are right should demand it with decency, whether it is fulfilled or not fulfilled. So when we request our wealth to be given back to us, of course, let's say you live on money for two months, and at the end of the two months, you go to them and you request the wealth to be given back to you. You don't go in there and say, Hey, come on, buddy. It's
time, right? You go in there nicely. If you have the ability to delay that a little bit further, you may want to offer that as an option. Hey, you know what, the time has come to repay the loan, just wondering how you're doing with that. If you're able to repay all of it now great. If you can't, then whatever, you can repay? No, that would be good. And maybe we could defer the rest of the amount to let you know. So doing
something nothing who borrowed the money. Remember, sometimes when people have more money, in fact, when people do borrow money, they're not in a good financial situation, right? Or they're not in the situation that they are able to, you know, fulfill whatever it is that they're trying to get done, whether it's no finances or business investments and stuff like that. They're not in a good position themselves at that point in time. So we try to help them out as best as we possibly can.
But it is our right to seek what is ours. So if someone owes us something have every right to standardly to go into request that to be returned to us. Okay.
Giving respites to one in straitened circumstances, okay, or giving a short period of time of relief, right or a break to that person who's going through a difficult time in repaying.
That debt
in verse number 280 of solatube bacara Allah subhanho wa Taala says what can I do more so to find out the rotten ina may saw
a ruler come in to
see So hear me out here Allah subhana wa tada says and if the debtor is in a hard time as they have no money the person who borrowed the money has no money then grant him to grant him time till it is easy for him or for her to repay.
But if you remit it by way of charity, haha, if you remit it by way of charity, that is better for you, if you did, but no. Right? So If only you knew. So Allah subhana wa tada says, If you remit it right, if you were basically to delay that amount or that delay that time for them to repay it, or if you were to simply consider what they owe you to be a charity. Now, this is first off easier said than done. Secondly, it may be easier to forgive someone have the debt that they have towards us if the amount is small, but if the amount is large, we may request that amount still, or what we just finished learning about ether of even I'm going to share with you
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, Whoever demands a right should demand it with decency Witters fulfilled or not. Right? So you demand it with decency. And you know, if you can delay it, ask that person to pay it back later on. And we see here that Allah subhanho wa Taala
is telling us that if you see that the person is not able to repay it to you, then you may forgive them that would be considered a sadaqa a charity. Now, what is the reward for the person who does this first off, you already receive the reward of helping someone by lending them that money. We looked at those rewards already last week in the week before, so
sorry, last week in the class before that, so you already are receiving those rewards of helping someone in a financially difficult situation. Now, you're seeking the reward from Allah subhanho wa Taala. That is in addition to what you owe, got, which is pardoning that person forgiving them of the amount, and considering that a charity that you did to them or that we that we do to that person, in another heavy, her they fought on the long run narrative that he heard the Messenger of Allah sallallahu added us and them say, a man died, and he was spoken to about his deeds. And he said,
I used to have business with the people and I would give time to the rich to repay and reduce the debt of the poor, therefore he was forgiven. Right so messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says, that, you know, a person dies, and he was spoken to. And he said, right, so this is, you know, insikt that is coming from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with regards to the condition, the the situation of a person who passes away.
And he says, I used to have business with the people. And I would give time to the rich to repay and reduce the debt of the poor, therefore, he was forgiven. So this person, upon their death was forgiven of their sins. Why? Well, when he was asked why, how is it that you are forgiven? He says, Well, when I would lend people when I would lend money to people, right? He was doing business, this and he would lend wealth, wealth, remember, we said is not gold and silver or money that's in our pockets, or in our bank accounts, wealth is pretty much anything, that's some sort of value. So he says, I used to have business with the people. And I would give time to the rich as in those who had
more wealth, to repay it back, or to pay back the debt that they incurred from him by borrowing money, and
reduce the debt of the poor, as in if, if someone who didn't have so much wealth, borrowed money from him as $1,000 he would say, you know, what, just pay me back 700 or just pay me back 500. So he would reduce the board, and he would give time to the rich. What do we learn from this, we learn it, those who have wealth and have the ability, maybe they just need a little more time to gain that wealth. He would give them some extra time
to pay it back and not reduced that right because they he knows they have the ability to earn that wealth and pay it back. For those who are poor, as in those who don't have the
ability to earn as much he would reduce the amount so he would basically consider that extra amount to be a subak champ for them. And that was a means of his forgiveness. And he was forgiven because of this kind act that he would do towards people when he would lend them wealth. In another Hadith the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam also stated, whoever would be pleased to have Allah save him from a distress on the Day of Resurrection, should then relieve one in a straitened circumstance, or completely remove his debt. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says, whoever wishes to be saved by Allah subhanho wa Taala, in a situation of distress, every single one of us will probably,
you know, fear to stand before Allah subhanho wa Taala. And be in a situation of address a time where fear that we made that we may have done something wrong, that we are, you know, really, really
nervous standing before Allah and we know the Hadeeth right, we know many narrations that we are about the day of judgment and how it's going to be difficult, and how people worried and how people be running around seeking an extra good deed from their mother or from their father, from their spouse, from their siblings from their friends.
We also know that we see in the narrations that the sun will be very low, and it will be close to us, right? And it will be so hot, and people will be sweating based on the amount of sins that they have in their account. So those that have a little bit amount of sins, well, it'd be coming up to you know, their feet and their ankles and those that have a little bit more to their knees and allow those a little bit more to their waist, and some people will be up to their necks. Right, there'll be drowning in their sweat, which is
somewhat of an indication of the amount of sins that a person may have committed in their lives or that they have written in their account. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam tells us how to reduce these sins, how to seek forgiveness, right? So he says whoever would be pleased to have a loss, save him from a distress on the Day of Resurrection should relieve someone who is in a difficult circumstance, or completely remove them from debt.
Right? By helping someone to pay back, let's say someone owns someone owes another person $1,000 you might help them by giving them $200. And now they only have to pay 800 on their own. Right? Or you may get a few people put together to help this person pay off their debt.
And usually when we think of it, we're like, oh, but that's just wasted money. Why don't they work harder? We look at it as this is a way for me to be saved by a loss of how do we do that on the day of judgment when we stand before him. That'll Allah subhanaw taala may allow us to enter into paradise without reckoning. And also the Prophet sallallahu wasallam says or to completely remove their debt.
Right? If that's your money, or you're able to raise money to help them to pay off the debt, they have a hamdulillah. But remember, my brothers and sisters when we do incur debt, and I've said this before, and I really don't like getting into it. But when we do incur debt, make sure that the debt we incur is hella debt.
It's halaal as in you've borrowed money in a way that is permissible islamically in a way that is permissible according to Allah Subhana what's had
Okay, the next thing we'll look at is delaying payment by one who has means is, is a form of wrongdoing. Someone who has the ability to pay back the debt that they have, but they intentionally delay is not permissible have what I call the long run reported that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, The delaying repayment by one who has the means is of volume, a form of
wrongdoing.
oppression
that you were supposed to pay back a debt that you have in your name, and you have the wealth to pay it back. But you delay it intentionally delaying repaying debt that we have that we've incurred, even though we have the means to repay it is sinful and oppression volt. As the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says wrong doing it is considered a sin. So my brothers and sisters if you owe money to someone and you have the wealth to pay it back, then pay it back. Remember, look, go back to the Hadeeth profits on a longer it was something we were talking about paying someone the way
That they are owed for the work that they did. We are encouraged as believers to pay them what they what they earned before the sweat even dries off their back as in paid immediately so that they can, they can receive what is right they worked hard for it and hamdulillah when they're done the job they're done the work they have the wealth that they can go and enjoy or they can use towards whatever they need to use it towards.
The next thing we'll look at is
imprisoning The one who can but refuses to pay. So this is an Islamic judiciary ruling, okay? I'm a machete narrated
from his father, that the mess masala Allahu Allahu wa sallam said, lay in payment of debt by one who has means justifies his punishment and deformation.
As an islamically if we were if we were living in a country that was governed by the Sharia that had Islamic principles, you know, ruling the people or governing the people
then it is it is permissible islamically for the judge to apply a punishment upon the person who refuses to pay back the debt that they have in their name by the time that it is due, when they have the ability to pay it back. their financial situation is that they have the ability to pay it back. Okay.
Every loan that entails a benefit contains interest. I will boarded that said I came to Medina to Abdullah even seller who was underlined Salam. He was the leader of the Jewish during the time of the during the time, when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam made the hedgerow from Mecca to Medina, okay. And he is very famous for narrating that Hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and during that when he saw him he saw that the face of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam is of someone who came with the truth, someone who was guided from Allah subhanho wa Taala. So that said, I came to Medina and met Abdullah bin Salaam. He said, Come with me to my house and I
shall get a drink from a cup from which the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and you can pray in a mosque in which he prayed. Allahu Akbar, Allah Imagine you're given a cup to drink out of, and that was the cup that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had had, you know, drunk out of
and you can pray in a Masjid and of course we are we we are able to do that we have the ability to do that right as Muslims when we go to muster the Nebu, we have the ability to pray in the masjid where the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam prayed and usually when we go on tour when we go for Hajj in Arma and we take you know people to Jebel Varma and then we go into our phone we go you know, into
to see Jebel aroma you know, where the archers were during the time of the Battle of hood and so on and you're walking through the streets of Medina always remind our group Hey, you know what, you could be putting your foot in the same spot on the ground, that the Prophet sallallahu wasallam put his foot and this is why usually people will rush to try and get into the arroba which is the front part of the masjid must be the newbie and as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says Medina Beatty women 30 year old are to marry Jenna, right? What is between my home and my member is a garden from the gardens of Paradise. It's a blessing place to pray. And this is why people rush to
go and debate in that area. So going back, he says I came to Medina and I met with Abdullah bin Salaam.
And he said, Come with me to my house and I shall give you to drink from a cup in which from which the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam drank, and you can pray in a mosque in which he prayed and so I went with him and he gave me some sweet to drink. He fed me some dates and I prayed in his mosque. He then said to me, You are in a land in which Riba has become widespread.
You are in a land in which Riba interest has become widespread.
One of the varieties of Riba is for someone to for a period of time, when that time is reached, he gives him his money was sceptical containing a gift.
Beware of the sceptical and what it can. So I do live in Santa Maria, he says.
And there's a reason why the men shunning of drinking from the Messenger of Allah Allah sent him drink from and praying
Must be where the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam prayed it because the cleaning the in those lands in that city
of Medina to munawwara. For example, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was there, lived in these lands, spoke to the people prayed in the masjid, prayed in this, in this area, drank from this, you know, he was he was here not too long ago. This is what it's indicating that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was there not too long ago, and had passed away.
Some Allahu alayhi wa sallam, and many people were doing things that were not according to the teachings of Islam. So Abdullah bin Salim, he says, one of you are in a land in which Riba has become widespread interest has become widespread. He says we're varieties of interest is for someone to give a loan to someone for a period of time, okay? you lend this to me.
And when it's for me, to repay it to you, I repay it to you with a gift, right? With a pouch that has something in it, I don't have any pouches right here. I have this pouch. Right vices, they repay you what you've lent what you lent to them, right? That's done. And they will give you something in it contains interest.
Now, what's the difference between this and what we learned before? What we learned last week was that when you repay people,
somehow you be thankful. And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said even a kind word kind gesture, right? Or, you know, give them some sort of gift, give it to them, the difference is that it became the norm.
And that it was expected from the people who lent
that you will return it with something extra. So that's the difference. Or that it was contractual, that when you repay me this amount, you will repay it with the extra gift.
Right? not permissible is statically if you give something as a gift, just as a kind gesture Alhamdulillah.
But some people will refuse. I know sometimes, when people you know, lend something and they are repaid, they will refuse to take anything extra because they're worried this could be considered interest. And so just to be safe, just to be careful, they will stay away from it. In fact, what are the Sorry, I already know a lot of hanifa very famous scholar, right? We know we have the mother here that are very famous that we follow, right email Malik,
email, Maliki, Sherry, even humble and Imam, Abu
hanifa. Allah.
He was very wealthy. He was a really, really wealthy business persons. Pamela scholar of Deen and wealthy and he used the wealth
when he would be one, walking, walking, and he came across the homes of people he lent wealth to, he lent them some money, he would not even walk in or under the shade of that person's house, he would walk around the shade of their house because he was worried. He considered that you know what, I wouldn't go and sit in the shade of this person because it's as though I'm receiving interest from them. He felt that they might think that I feel entitled to sit in the shade of their home because I lent them because they owe me money. So I have certain rights upon them. That was Abu hanifa a whole lot. Right? He would not sit in the shade of others that he lent wealth to. And I'm gonna stop
talking because Chicana v diocese has showed up. And he knows business much better than me. hamdulillah and I actually turned to him questions about things that I'm a little bit confused on and need some clarity on. So hamdulillah now that he's joined us, we can say Subhana kolomna Chateau La Ilaha Illa and nesto filco Anna to be like, and I'm actually serious, but I'm not seriously ending because he's joined. I'm serious. The ending because that's the end of the topic that we were covering.
I'd like to bring him on if he if he wants to do if he's ever I don't know if he's using Wi Fi or not. We can always open it up for some q&a. If anyone has any questions. Feel free to ask for the next few minutes and shot along with that. And
if not, then we'll head over to Saul. Not too much.
So if anyone has any questions, feel free to type them in.
Give you another minute or two. I know sometimes it takes us a long time to type in questions, especially if we're at home with the children, and they're running around
and trying to type something in and making a bunch of hamdulillah. Right? Imagine living at the time of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, where Abdullah in Salam asks you to come to his home, and to drink from the cup that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam drank from?
So someone's asking, What is your view on mortgage from a bank?
That's the one question I usually never answer. And the reason why I answer it is because I tell people, you already know the answer to this question.
That's why you're asking it because something else? And so I'm not going to judge or assume anything of anyone. But I usually don't answer that question. Because I've made this crystal clear to my community, that I consider that to be something that is awesome and not permissible.
And that we have Islamic, you know, financing options when purchasing a home, at least here in
Ontario. If you live in another province, then different story. If you live in another country, that's a different story as well. Okay? Because you may live in a country where you have Islamic banking, banking, right, and you have the option to
purchase a home through that bank without the interest and so on. Right.
So yeah,
it seems like
that's it in terms of questions, just Aqua malachite on mubaraka, lo fi calm, we do appreciate you giving your time and attending and handling.
For those that are on Instagram that, you know, if you ever want to watch the live stream on YouTube, feel free to do that as well, we do have the setup on YouTube. And the second round is good on YouTube hamdulillah The video is pretty good on YouTube. And you don't have to hold your phone this way. Right? You can act on it that way, and even put it on your computer screen or your TV in your living room. So it makes it a lot easier. I know some families watch it all together. So it'd be nice if we can maybe sort of trying to shift over to YouTube and Facebook and that Illa that way, you know, we could pull all the viewership into one place would be a lot easier. hamdulillah.
So I do see another question up there.
What advice would you give to students who have to pay their own tap?
My advice would be if you have to pay it, pay it.
My advice as well would be to try and try and pay it back before there's any interest on it. Okay, so try to work throughout the years of university part time and save that amount and pay it back slowly.
You know, it's something that will I know a friend in the community who was saying what he did was he
in his in his second to last year, he started taking less courses so that he can study part time and work part time. And that way he can earn enough so that he could pay off his student loans before any interest was due it. So instead of studying full time, all throughout University, in the second to last year, he started to work part time and in the last time in order to earn enough money to pay back the loan. The student loans he did not have to pay any interest on it. And I think that's a great, you know, sacrifice. It may take you one extra year to finish off your university but hamdulillah no big deal, right? Because during that time, you're actually trying to secure a lot of
other things and you start working and sometimes that is the place that you end up working full time afterwards. Alright, does that come along? Hayden that's all the time that we have. We'll see all of you next week in sha Allah. Please use this time to make door out it is you know the last 10 or 15 minutes before sold out and marketed make dua to Allah subhana wa tada this ummah and this world is in need of the help of Allah subhana wa tada always. So please do remember all of us and all your brothers and sisters from around the world. In your vertical level, sequence or center, more or less
