Bismillah al Rahman al Rahim al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil alameen wa salatu wa he was Salam. ala Nabi Hilde Karim, Allah he have a lot of Salah to attend with a slim publisher. He saw the way a Sidley Emily wahala rock, the Tamil assignee of Kapil Kohli, my brothers and my sisters a setup where it come to live about a catwalk.
So very interestingly, I just got a notice on my watch, that shows me a picture of me, here, I'll do this telling me that I'm live now. Right, so I'm now live, and My watch is telling me all about it on the law. All right, so I can open it up on my phone. Oh, but then it might mess up my live streams, let me not do that.
Alright, there we go.
So today, insha, Allah to Allah, where we're going to be doing is continuing along through the chapter of food, and we spoke about the aesthetic manner of sacrificing or slaughtering an animal,
we have to continue that inshallah we're going to continue today with the manner of slaughtering. But we also, in this chapter looked at the animals that are not permissible for us to consume. We spoke about, you know, the food that we have here with us in Canada. And we gave examples of how we can, as students of Sam acknowledge, try to understand whether the food or the meat, more specifically meat, and chicken, or any sort of animal
is going to be permissible for us, based on countries that we may travel to. So the first thing that we were doing was an exercise to, you know, use the brain a little bit to try and figure a few things out. And we gave examples of traveling down to the United States, specifically Texas, and then traveling over to Thailand, and then Canada, and Medina, right, I believe it was Medina and Mecca that we gave as an example.
So those are some of the things that I really want to encourage you as students to keep in mind, right? Keep in mind that as students have knowledge, we need to have tools in our toolbox to be able to travel the world to be able to go from place to place, it may not even be the world, it may just be the ability to travel from one city to another city, and find a place that is permitted for us to eat and food that is permissible for us to eat, right, based on the tools that you have within your toolbox. And I'm not referring to an actual toolbox with little tools in there, I'm referring to the knowledge that we have, right the knowledge that we gain, and our submission to Allah subhanho wa
Taala throughout everything that we do in life, okay.
So today, we'll look at the manner with which we use to slaughter or to sacrifice an animal. And if we have some time, we'll begin the chapter on hunting. Okay, if we have some time, we don't have time, you know, I'll open it up for some questions. So for those of you that do have questions, feel free to write them down, or you can type it in the chat now. And then if you want to go back, or I'll you know, swipe up and try and find it in sha Allah, those of you that are on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, it makes it a lot easier if you just type it in in the chat. Now I can easily just scroll up and find it in john Locke. And
very interestingly, a lot more chat goes on, or a lot more happens in the chat box on Instagram than on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter combined.
So let's look at the manner of slaughtering animals. So animals are of two types, those that can be slaughtered. So you can easily you know, go to the, to a farm, you have the animal and you you know, sacrifice the animal, you're easily you can easily take control of that animal, for example, chicken, right, you go, you take the chicken, you grab it by the wings, you hold the head, this is what I love about, right.
But the other type of animal that we're referring to here that we're going to learn about is animals that one cannot have the ability to capture or to hold on to, right, that we do not have the capacity to slaughter our own selves. So those animals can be slaughtered.
Those animals that can be slaughtered like a sheep or a cow or you know, camel, goat, chicken,
turkey, quail, you know, animals that you can easily capture. Now again, these that's, that is me saying that you go to the farm and the animal is there ready for you, if you're catching it wild, you know you're catching a wild bird, whatever the type of bird is, for example, quail, you know, you need to cap catch it first. So how you capture it, that's a different story.
So those animals that can be slaughtered, must be slaughtered by cutting the wind pipe in the throat, right? We say Bismillah Allahu Akbar and
That's how we do it right we,
if we have the ability to hold on to that animal Bismillah Allahu Akbar, and we, you know will will then proceed to cutting the throat of the animal
including the windpipe, right and the jugular veins.
Even our bas are the Allahu anhu Omar said slaughtering is at the wind pipe in the throat okay so you don't like go and start cutting up an animal you don't do something different to it in order to slaughter the animal We begin by you know the throat of the animal and that the reason for is the juggler veins are there and immediately you know drains the blood and takes the life of the animal with the least amount of suffering okay
even our sorry even arm have
been abus and an SRO, the locker and home all said that there is no harm if one cuts off the head. So, this is you know, something that the scholars debate upon scholars differ upon, you know, if the head is completely cut off, you know, is that something that is permissible, but again, you know, some of this habit of the law and home considered it to be permissible, it does happen at times where a smaller animal The head is completely cut off. But Allah subhana wa tada knows best raffia even hardage actually, now let's move to the status of the fetus. Okay, so I don't want to spend too much time just going over the same thing. So basically, within Islam, if you're sacrificing an
animal, what we need to do is make sure that we sacrifice it by
saying Bismillah Allahu Akbar, which we're going to learn in a little bit, but by cutting the throats by the jugular veins, the windpipe, the jugular veins.
Now, what about the fetus if the animal that we're sacrificing is pregnant, right, and there's a fetus within it. So if the fetus comes out of the belly and its mother of its mother, and is still alive on its own, then one must slaughter it as well.
Okay, so that animal will be sacrificed on its own, okay? If however, it comes out dead, then the slaughtering of the Mother Mother is considered the slaughtering of the fetus. Okay. I will say I eat or the lager and said, We asked the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam about the fetus and he said, eat it if you wish, for it slaughtering was the slaughtering of its mother. Okay, this is considered an authentic hadith
which can be found in Sahih sonnen Abu Dawood, of course, reported by or recorded by, you know, without wood, okay.
So once again, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said,
when asked by the Sahaba of the Allahu and home, about the fetus, and he said, eat it, if you wish for its slaughtering was the slaughtering of its mother. Now there are certain conditions there. So don't just take this at face value. You know, we're just going over generally, like I say, usually in our, you know, books or our classes, going through some of the books is that we have to look deeper. Okay, we have to look deeper into some of the knowledge that we gained. Now, I'm saying this generally just as general knowledge to all of you, but I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of you if not all of you, are not going and sacrificing animals. And generally we don't sacrifice an animal
when it is pregnant. Sometimes it happens that that's the case. Now what do we need to say when we sacrifice an animal
mentioning the name of Allah subhanaw taala upon slaughtering is a condition for its permissibility. So we have to say, or we have to mention the name of Allah subhanho wa Taala. And this is why as Muslims we say, Bismillah Allahu Akbar. If someone intentionally does not mention the name of Allah, the slaughtered animal is not permissible for consumption. This is if someone intentionally does not say it, sometimes someone who's going and doing it and they're like, Oh, I intended to do it. But you know, everything happens so fast. That's a different story. We'll talk about that another day if that ever happens, right. But generally speaking, if a person intentionally is sacrificing the
animal for the sake of of us handling data, or not for the sake of loss penalty data, but does not say or mentioned the name of Allah azza wa jal, then that animal is not helpful for us to be consumed.
Allah Subhana Allah says in verse number 118, of surah to NRM, he says are under the law him in a shape either regime for kulu mean, looky Ross moolah here really cool
to be at mini loss of power.
What it says so eat that meat on which Allah's name has been pronounced while slaughtering the animal Of course, if you are believers in His revelation, okay?
Allah subhanho wa Taala also says in Seattle and just a few verses later verse number one, do not eat of that meat on which Allah's name has not been pronounced at the time of slaughtering the animal in brackets okay at the time of slaughtering the animal. So do not eat the meat on which Allah's name has not been pronounced, for surely it is a sin and disobedience of Allah. And certainly the devils do not inspire sorry and certainly the devils do inspire their friends from amongst the human beings, right, those who submit to shape on
to dispute with you. And if you obey them, then you would indeed be polytheists right? So disobeying Allah Subhana, WA to Allah in this matter in the, you know the food and disputing with people who argue about us with regards to the name of Allah subhanaw taala being mentioned or not being mentioned, Allah subhanho wa Taala clearly lays it out. Certainly the devils do inspire their friends from amongst human beings, right, those who follow the wave shape on and they don't follow the way of Allah subhanho wa Taala to dispute with you. And if you obey them, then you would indeed the polytheists are author even Khadija narrated that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said
whoever causes the blood to flow and has had Allah's name mentioned upon it, you may eat it. Okay, so whoever has the animal sacrificed in the correct manner, right cutting the throat and allows the blood to flow and has mentioned the name of Allah prior to doing so. then that becomes permissible. Okay, you may eat it.
Okay, so Frida Riedel Hassan, we spoke about this last week. Now go back and watch last week's class in sha Allah, it's available last Sunday. We spoke about this in detail, especially the q&a. So if you skip through to the q&a, you'll see you know, our discussion on that. Okay.
The next thing we'll look at is facing the animal towards the Qibla. So first of all, we have to have the animal right then we have to face the animal towards the Qibla. Then we say Bismillah, Allahu Akbar. And then we cut the throat and the jugular veins, right so facing the animal towards the Qibla. It is recommended to direct the animal towards the Qibla and to say what the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, as mentioned in the following Hadith, and is the hadith of Jabba Abdullah or the Allahu, and on the day of sacrifice, what is the day of sacrifice Yeoman? Right, it is the day of, of what
is the day a very the other,
right for those who are going for hedge. So on the day of sacrifice a prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam slaughtered two RAMs, when he faced them towards the Qibla
he said some longer it was alum, I am directed. I've directed my face towards the one who created the heavens and the earth upon the religion of Ibrahim, the pure monotheists and I am not from among the polytheists in the with Jetta wedgie le Lady for Tara center it will have hanifa warmer and Amina shakin verily my plant my prayers, rights, life and death or for Allah The Lord of the worlds having no partner
having no partner
in Psalm 31 Oh Suki Wilma Hiya, Yahweh Mattila, Bilal amin, lashari Keller, thus, I have been commanded and I am the first of those who submit Allah, this is from you, and for you on behalf of Muhammad and his nation, his oma In the name of Allah Bismillah. Allah is the Greatest Allahu Akbar, then he sacrificed them then he slaughtered them. Okay, so that's, in a nutshell, the manner the method with which we use as Muslims to sacrifice an animal. Okay. Now, of course, that's an animal that we have in our possession and ability to sacrifice the animals that we don't now we look into hunting, right, we need to hunt them. Okay, so can we simply go and hunt an animal capture it? You
know, and
how do we go about doing that as Muslims is something that we need to look into before
We get into that because that's another, you know, topic on its own. And we won't be able to finish that topic entirely tonight, because there's different things that we need to look at, we'll look at, you know, animals that are trained dogs, right hunting dogs, for example.
What happens when the animal that you've caught falls into something, you know, water, etc. So I'm just going to scroll up because I see some questions here. And I know a lot of you probably have some questions, so feel free to type in your questions, inshallah. And we'll answer those Saturday shows at 945. So we have some time in schambach. And
I'll go through some of these first, and then if we have some time, I'll continue in chama. So I did is asking what are the rules or rulings what, what is the ruling for hunting using a rifle, bow and arrow. So we'll look at that in sha Allah that's under the chapter of hunting which is coming up in sha Allah.
Most of our cells and mRNA come from a set m
my dad doesn't allow me to pray on time. vada also in mother
it is because I work in our shop, which has a huge rush almost every day. So and so that we don't have time.
We don't have time to eat our lunch. So I pray all my phone's prayers at night are my prayers valid in work hours if I go and pray at Masjid he shouts at my mom and says insulting things there again.
So first of all, most of
our Salah is the most important more important than the lunch that we are sacrificing okay.
And our submission to Allah subhana wa tada is more important than anything else. But from our submission to Allah subhana wa tada is to obey our parents and to be respectful towards them. The Times that we're not allowed to obey our parents or the times that
they are asking us to do something that takes us away from Allah subhanho wa Taala takes us further from Allah subhana wa Tada. And so if our parents are asking us to disobey Allah Subhana, we turn it into Miss prayers, because the business is so busy, then you need to find a way to rotate and take turns to pray. So for example, at the time of law, which is a fairly lengthy time throughout the day, right?
If it's too busy a lot of time, because I don't know, it's the lunch hour rush or something of that sort, then take a turn, you know, one person at a time stops, goes in praise, at the very least praise the funnelled prayer, and then comes back and continues working. And then the next person goes, praise and comes back. And then the next person goes, prays and comes back.
That's what I suggest that you do now, to run away from home or to leave parents or to put our mother in a difficult situation is also something that we should not do and we should avoid, right. So try to avoid additional conflict. But also make sure that we submit to Allah subhana wa Tada. So maybe talk about it in advance and say, Hey, you know what, if we can't afford to take a break, then maybe we can hire someone for one hour, right or a few hours throughout the day. That will allow us to go and pray one by one taking turns, while that other person is still covering for us throughout the day. Right? That's something to keep in mind as well. Also, remember that Allah subhana wa tada
puts more Baraka in what we are doing and blesses our business or our wealth even more when we submit to Him. But when we disobey Allah subhana wa to add, and what good is the wealth that we're getting? Right? for disobeying on law? The very first thing that we're going to be asked about on the Day of Judgment is our sada and it is the pillar of Islam that comes right after believing in Allah subhanho wa Taala and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is the last and final messenger. So keep that in mind in sha Allah tried to find a solution, try to find a way to have this done. I'm sure if someone needs to leave and go use the bathroom for a few minutes. It's not a big deal or it
may be made a big deal but still something that we can't stop someone from doing right as employees or employers I should say. But if that's the case, with regards to going and relieving oneself, then surely someone should be able to go and pray their sauna. May Allah subhana wa tada make it easy for you keep trying. Allah knows your hardship and your difficulty. And Allah subhanho wa Taala will make it easy for you as long as you try to figure out a way right use wisdom
Use wisdom and Allah subhana wa tada will bless you in it. Okay.
So the question with regards to hunting with a rifle or bow and arrow that added,
asked we'll get into that when we in the next part of this chapter on hunting chulmleigh.
Another question that came up here is what if the restaurant serving halal as well as pig or non halal food? Okay, so I'm going to answer this question based on us being here in Canada, okay. In Canada, there are many restaurants that sell that will actually sell halal meat and halaal Chicken like beef, lamb, whatever animal it is. And the actual meat may be certified not saying that the restaurant is certified because most of the halal agencies that do certify restaurants will not allow it. They will not certify it if they're serving something that's hot on. But if you go to a restaurant and they have halal options, right, they're serving halal meat. And they're respectful of
the, the you know, the kitchen and the utensils. This is where it as much as they may be, and I'm not talking about serving alcohol here I'm talking about as a question says, pig or non halal food, okay.
So the halal food is halal for you to consume. Okay, the Haram food is haram for you to consume. In Canada, we can go somewhere, for example, a pizza restaurant and you order a pizza, that's vegetarian, right? Is it how long for you to eat that? No, I can't say that. It's how long because the food in and of itself is how that. So one cannot say that it's how long to eat that because that restaurant also has bacon bits that they put on other you know, pizzas. So we can't say that because the pizza the dough, the you know, the cheese might be helpful for us. If it is I'm assuming that it is right, just for the sake of the example. And then you know, whatever vegetables go on top, the
tomatoes, the olives, the
you know, the mushrooms, and you know, bell peppers, whatever you want to put on there. Those are Hello. So how can one say that it's home. Now, there are many countries that have a Muslim majority population, they will then you know, have the certification that they either permit or refuse to give or grant to that restaurant. Does that mean that just because they don't have a valid certificate that it's hard for us to eat from? Well, let's look at the example of the Hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with regards to people eating from utensils or plates and stuff like that, that were used by the non Muslims where food that was not permissible was placed into
them. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam taught this a habit of the Allah and him to wash out those utensils or those dishes and to use them right that you can use them. So for example, you go to a restaurant the plate, right just the plate that we're you know, we're talking about the food, but what about the plate, that plate may have been a plate where, you know, a
ham, I don't know steak or something was was on it right prior to that, and all the juices and fats are sitting on there and it was like sizzling and stuff like that. And as a Muslim like, Oh, no, I'm sorry, man can't use that. But as Muslims, we also learn that there's a way to make this permissible for me to use, which is to wash it and make sure that there are no pieces of that, you know, bacon or ham or pork that's on there. And then you can use that to eat from. Okay, so hamdulillah our Deen is is is a moderate Deen. Right. It's a deem that allows us to survive and to flourish. Regardless of where we are. We have the ability to be Muslim, we have the ability to, to eat Hillel to pray Our
Salah to go, you know, places as a Muslim and to follow through with the deen of Allah subhanho wa Taala. So that's one thing to keep in mind. So going back to the question, What if the restaurant is serving something that is hot on? Well,
that restaurant
may not have received a certificate to become a halal certified restaurant. But we can't say that a specific thing that they're selling. Let's say it's Pepsi. So you can't buy a Pepsi. From there. You can't buy a bottle of water from there. Of course you can, right. And so look at the items individually. Now of course, we want to make sure that it's not just the plate that we're eating on. It's the pots and pans or whatever it is that they're using to cook the meals in. Make sure that it's clean as well. And here's an example of how a logistic couple of weeks ago
I stopped in at
I won't say the name of the restaurant but I stopped
Then at a restaurant
and I ordered a sandwich, right? A tuna sandwich. And the man that was making the sandwich was,
to my, to my knowledge, he was seek, okay.
Could have been Hindu, but it seemed like he was Sikh because of, you know, a few things that I observed. And he was very respectful, very, very respectful panela
he saw me, he says, You're Muslim, right? I said, Yes. He says, Then I'll go get a clean, clean, fresh knife for what? He made my sandwich. And he was going to cut my sandwich in half. That's all didn't even have to cut it for me. But he went in, got it clean knife to cut the sandwich in half for me. And he said, you know, it's better this way you have no doubt, you know, and using a clean knife that just came out of the wash. And you know, you'll feel comfortable eating your fruit off like hamdulillah. Thank you very much. I appreciate it. All right. So as Muslims when we talk about this, when we go to restaurants, and we ask, you know, usually we say use a clean knife, right. But
sometimes the staff already knows they see you, they're like, oh, Muslim, Alright, we're gonna use a clean knife, because they themselves might not want some sort of contaminants in their food. contaminant, meaning another type of food that they're not able to eat or could or should not eat right? within their their belief. So hamdulillah as you know, Muslims, we should try our best to share these principles of our Deen with others.
Someone is saying,
my parents don't allow me to keep a beard. Okay, so these are things that you're going to have to discuss slowly with your parents kamusta fire, you're gonna have to talk to them. And in sha Allah, Allah, Allah will make it easy for you. As you've given an example of pizza, one of my friends working in a pizza shop told me that the same cutting tool is used for both halaal and pig pizza. Okay, so then someone should talk to the management of that restaurant and let them know that when you get a request for halaal, you need to try to make sure that you do this. Okay, you tried to make sure that you use a clean knife. However, keep in mind
that technically within the deen, if we were to wipe it clean,
right, or we don't physically see anything that's hot on on it, then some of the scholars consider that to be okay as well. But it's always best to go the distance and make sure that it is clean for whatever foods that we are going to consume. Okay, what about cooking the same oil? Okay, using halal food, frying it in the same oil, try to avoid that. Okay, try to avoid that hamdulillah here in Canada, for the most part restaurants usually have different different, you know, fryers that they will use for different products. So this one will be for fish. And this one will be for, you know, fries, and that one will be for chicken and so on. Right. So usually that's the way it is. It
used to be all mixed together. But now humbler, things are getting a little bit better and more respectful towards you know, people's dietary requirements. Alright, let me just look through here and see if there's anything. What about a restaurant when they say they're also serving alcohol in the same place where we are eating or if it is served on the same table in an office meeting? Okay, so try to avoid the same table.
Alcohol consumption. Okay, try your best to avoid it. Remember, we took the Hadeeth last week, right? Actually, no, we didn't take it in this class.
I can't remember now, but we took it on Friday night, right? Where the profits are longer it was solemn tells us that it is not permissible for us to eat at the same you know, table spread as those who are consuming alcoholic beverages or intoxicants. So it is not permissible for us to do that. Try to avoid it. And I know some of you have really struggled with this in your in your work experiences. May Allah subhanho wa Taala make it easy for you. I mean,
are we continue to eat there or do not? Okay, I just answered that. Do you follow a specific method when answering questions? Which one? Okay, so I usually will if there's something specific that I need to explain that's different, and I usually will mention that, you know, the difference, generally tried to stick to the stronger opinion amongst them based on the texts that are available. Okay.
All right, and shall I think that's all for now. The other end for for a sheis in a few minutes. And a shout prayer is in 15 minutes in sha Allah. So those of you that are coming
To the masjid, please make your way over to the masjid. And we'll see you in a bit. That's all the time that we do have, please do keep in mind once again that next Friday and next Sunday we will not have the classes okay next Friday and next Sunday we will not have our Friday night etiquettes class and we will not have our essential thick class on Sunday. So those two classes we will resume in two weeks and shout Allahu tida so next weekend, you are free on Friday night and you're free on Sunday night. And there are lots of hanaway to Allah bless all of you and your family members and keep you all safe and united always. And their last penalty data grant you the best of this world and the
