00:00:06 --> 00:00:10
			hamdu Lillah wa salatu salam ala rasulillah.

00:00:13 --> 00:00:19
			All praise due to a law and made the Peace and blessings of Alavi on the last messenger of Allah.

00:00:24 --> 00:00:27
			Our topic, the search for inner peace.

00:00:29 --> 00:00:30
			First and foremost,

00:00:32 --> 00:00:51
			we can say that this topic represents a universal desire on the part of all human beings, no matter
where they are in the world, no matter what religion they follow, no matter what race they belong
to,

00:00:52 --> 00:00:56
			wherever they are, they all seek

00:00:57 --> 00:00:59
			inner peace.

00:01:01 --> 00:01:07
			Now, the channels by which it is achieved,

00:01:09 --> 00:01:09
			are varied.

00:01:11 --> 00:01:16
			There are many different channels by which people have sought in a piece.

00:01:18 --> 00:01:20
			It may be through music,

00:01:21 --> 00:01:25
			some people seek it through material possessions,

00:01:26 --> 00:01:29
			others through careers,

00:01:31 --> 00:01:33
			and yet others through the success of the children.

00:01:35 --> 00:01:36
			But

00:01:37 --> 00:01:38
			no matter what channel

00:01:39 --> 00:01:42
			we travel on,

00:01:43 --> 00:01:53
			there seems to be something missing. We don't seem to achieve it, we continue to search.

00:01:55 --> 00:01:57
			The facts of the matter with regards to

00:01:59 --> 00:02:13
			inner peace and modern developments, technology, etc. Is that modern technology has not helped us in
this process.

00:02:14 --> 00:02:19
			When we look at the rates of suicide and depression,

00:02:20 --> 00:02:23
			over the last 100 years,

00:02:24 --> 00:02:28
			they have increased there on the steady increase.

00:02:30 --> 00:02:31
			So it is obvious

00:02:32 --> 00:02:39
			that the route for achieving inner peace is not one

00:02:40 --> 00:02:47
			through the material world around us through the development of technology,

00:02:49 --> 00:02:51
			advancement of society.

00:02:52 --> 00:02:57
			It is somewhere else, we need to look somewhere else.

00:02:59 --> 00:03:01
			Before we begin to look,

00:03:02 --> 00:03:17
			perhaps it's better for us to define, really, what is this peace, this inner peace that we're
looking for? Perhaps our perception of it is affecting our ability to achieve it.

00:03:18 --> 00:03:24
			If we look at the Webster's 20th century dictionary,

00:03:25 --> 00:03:26
			it defines it

00:03:28 --> 00:03:30
			in six different ways.

00:03:32 --> 00:03:33
			The first is

00:03:34 --> 00:03:43
			freedom from war, or civil strife, freedom from war or civil strife.

00:03:46 --> 00:03:47
			The second

00:03:48 --> 00:03:51
			is a pact between

00:03:52 --> 00:03:55
			countries or groups.

00:03:57 --> 00:04:07
			The peace pact, the third, freedom from public disturbance or disorder, public security, law and
order.

00:04:09 --> 00:04:16
			The fourth, freedom from disagreement or quarrels, harmony and Concord,

00:04:17 --> 00:04:23
			the fifth, an undisturbed state of mind absence of mental conflict, serenity.

00:04:25 --> 00:04:30
			Sixth, calm, quiet tranquility.

00:04:31 --> 00:04:34
			We look at these various definitions.

00:04:35 --> 00:04:40
			They address different aspects of the world in which we live.

00:04:41 --> 00:04:49
			Freedom from war or strife is really something which deals with international or national politics.

00:04:51 --> 00:04:59
			Freedom from public disturbance This is again, related to the national, the state or the city, the
town

00:05:01 --> 00:05:12
			Freedom from this disagreements or quarrels, Harmony Concord seems to be a family related thing.
Neighbors, immediate community

00:05:13 --> 00:05:34
			and an undisturbed state of mind absence of mental conflict. serenity seems to be an individual
thing related to the individual's experience, calm, quiet, and tranquility. That seems to be a
location. There are locations of calm, quiet, and tranquility.

00:05:37 --> 00:05:42
			When we look back at this, this quest of ours for inner peace,

00:05:44 --> 00:05:46
			we have to ask yourself,

00:05:47 --> 00:05:48
			Is it really attainable?

00:05:49 --> 00:05:51
			Or is it really an illusion?

00:05:53 --> 00:05:54
			a myth,

00:05:55 --> 00:06:04
			a fantasy is something that we desire. But it is really not something that we can attain. If we look
on a world scale,

00:06:05 --> 00:06:10
			and the scale of the world, countries dealing with other countries,

00:06:11 --> 00:06:20
			peace doesn't seem to be attainable. Because somewhere in the world, there's some conflicts going
on. Wars strife.

00:06:22 --> 00:06:33
			If we look on a state level, a country or a city, there is civil disturbance going on. And so many
different locations,

00:06:34 --> 00:06:35
			there is crime.

00:06:38 --> 00:06:41
			If we look on the family level,

00:06:42 --> 00:06:58
			then we can sort of find peace for periods of time, although family even in families, we do find
disagreements happening, some arguments, it's not a smooth going peaceful thing all the way through.

00:07:00 --> 00:07:02
			And even on the individual level,

00:07:04 --> 00:07:08
			though, through a variety of different means we might achieve

00:07:09 --> 00:07:14
			something of peace for a period of time, it doesn't seem to be lasting.

00:07:16 --> 00:07:19
			It doesn't really seem to be lasting.

00:07:20 --> 00:07:22
			If we look back at the human being,

00:07:24 --> 00:07:27
			from the end of his life, backwards to the beginning,

00:07:28 --> 00:07:44
			the only time where we could say, there appears to be a continual state of peace is when the human
being is a fetus, growing in the womb, of his or her mother.

00:07:46 --> 00:07:48
			All needs are taken care of.

00:07:50 --> 00:08:03
			Perhaps here is a period of serenity and continual peace. However, any woman who has had a child
will tell you

00:08:05 --> 00:08:18
			we might imagine there is peace, but I feel all these kicks and elbows and things happening, you
know, so really what's happening with that fetus? Is it really peaceful? Maybe there isn't even
peace there.

00:08:20 --> 00:08:21
			So

00:08:22 --> 00:08:23
			what is the answer?

00:08:24 --> 00:08:29
			is peace, inner peace, specifically attainable?

00:08:30 --> 00:08:41
			Well, there is a statement in the Quran, in which God says I have created human beings in toil and
struggle.

00:08:42 --> 00:09:02
			This is the nature and the norm of their lives, that they will be in a state of struggle from the
beginning to the end. And truly, when the child is born, it does fluctuate between periods of

00:09:04 --> 00:09:13
			peace, happiness, and periods of unhappiness, crying, screaming, etc.

00:09:14 --> 00:09:31
			As it gets bigger, it starts to move, trying to turn and to sit up and eventually to kneel and to
crawl. And all of this is a series of struggles, till it finally stands up on its feet and it walks

00:09:33 --> 00:09:35
			but struggles all the way.

00:09:37 --> 00:09:49
			So what is really the essence of the situation the essence of the situation, is that we are living
in a world of opposites. A world

00:09:50 --> 00:09:54
			in which everything seems to be

00:09:55 --> 00:09:58
			in opposition to everything else

00:09:59 --> 00:09:59
			that are

00:10:00 --> 00:10:04
			Position may be complimentary, like hot and cold,

00:10:06 --> 00:10:07
			sour and sweet,

00:10:09 --> 00:10:10
			high end low,

00:10:11 --> 00:10:12
			hard and soft.

00:10:14 --> 00:10:16
			These are complements, they're not fighting with each other.

00:10:18 --> 00:10:34
			But they have a role each one of them has a role because we don't know what is hard unless we have
experienced what is soft. We don't know what is sour unless we have experienced what is sweet. So it
has a place.

00:10:35 --> 00:10:39
			These opposites have a function in our lives.

00:10:42 --> 00:10:45
			There are other opposites, like good and evil.

00:10:48 --> 00:11:14
			They are opposites. And you do need to know good to know evil, and you need to know evil in order to
no good. But these are in opposition. There is a struggle between justice and injustice, knowledge
and ignorance. There are other aspects of our lives in which the opposites are engaged in a
continual struggle.

00:11:16 --> 00:11:16
			So,

00:11:17 --> 00:11:24
			I would conclude that inner peace is something which we cannot attain

00:11:26 --> 00:11:33
			on a continual basis. However, we can attain it for periods of time,

00:11:37 --> 00:11:55
			for periods of time, which may be extended, depending on the degree to which we have understood
life, and being able to apply the most important principles of life in our lives.

00:11:57 --> 00:11:59
			So that we can live

00:12:01 --> 00:12:17
			through longer periods of inner peace. But those longer periods no longer do have an end. There is a
time when the inner peace will end, and our situation will shift.

00:12:18 --> 00:12:19
			And it's not a bad thing.

00:12:21 --> 00:12:31
			Though all of us, each and every one of us would like that inner peace, to carry on forever.
However, it's opposite turmoil.

00:12:33 --> 00:12:45
			Struggle has to be there. For us to appreciate that inner peace, we need to also experience the toil
in the struggle, the turmoil.

00:12:48 --> 00:12:54
			So at least let us work on together. The

00:12:55 --> 00:13:00
			basis for inner peace, at least for some

00:13:01 --> 00:13:05
			period periods of our lives that we can appreciate, can help

00:13:06 --> 00:13:23
			us get our lives in order to function without going through bouts of depression, because a lack of
inner peace does not necessarily mean we have to go all the way to the other side into depression,
suicide, know

00:13:27 --> 00:13:43
			that lack of inner peace requires us to be patient knowing that it is temporary also, as our period
of inner peace was temporary. So is the period of inner turmoil temporary.

00:13:45 --> 00:13:55
			So let's look at how we can at least achieve a real working level of inner peace?

00:13:57 --> 00:13:59
			Well, I would say that

00:14:00 --> 00:14:03
			the first step that we have to take

00:14:05 --> 00:14:12
			is to remove obstacles. Those of you that are watching the PowerPoint presentation, you know that
it's all out of sync.

00:14:13 --> 00:14:14
			Don't worry about it.

00:14:17 --> 00:14:19
			Anyway, just press it whenever you feel like

00:14:22 --> 00:14:22
			so,

00:14:24 --> 00:14:26
			to achieve inner peace,

00:14:27 --> 00:14:32
			we must remove the obstacles to inner peace.

00:14:33 --> 00:14:34
			That coming

00:14:35 --> 00:14:37
			still behind keep pressing.

00:14:39 --> 00:14:48
			We must remove the obstacles that prevent us from achieving inner peace. This of course, this is
assuming that our basic state

00:14:49 --> 00:14:59
			our norm is one of peace and things have been piled on top of that norm which prevents us from from
achieving that inner peace

00:15:00 --> 00:15:01
			We are assuming that.

00:15:03 --> 00:15:12
			And that's not the wrong assumption, if we accept that, that norm of inner peace also has a norm of
turmoil along with it side by side.

00:15:16 --> 00:15:17
			What is our first strategy?

00:15:19 --> 00:15:21
			We need to identify

00:15:23 --> 00:15:31
			the obstacles, identify them, finally, thank you identify the obstacles.

00:15:32 --> 00:15:37
			Well, to identify them, we must be aware of them.

00:15:39 --> 00:15:44
			We must be aware we have to be made aware or we have to find out for ourselves.

00:15:46 --> 00:16:07
			And then we have to accept them as obstacles. These are two different things. Because a person might
say, anger, anger is an obstacle to inner peace, how can you have inner peace and you're angry all
the time, you're shouting, you're screaming, you're worked out, but you can't possibly attain inner
peace. But

00:16:09 --> 00:16:10
			I don't have a problem with anger.

00:16:14 --> 00:16:21
			Recognizing that anger is a problem, but then recognizing that you have a problem with anger are two
different things. So

00:16:22 --> 00:16:36
			our first strategy involves not only being aware of the obstacles, but also accepting them, within
ourselves, that whatever prevents

00:16:37 --> 00:16:39
			the achievement of inner peace

00:16:40 --> 00:16:45
			is likely to be found in us in one degree or another.

00:16:47 --> 00:17:07
			To be honest with ourselves, to be able to benefit from the input of people around us to escape the
state of self denial. You know, this is the biggest problem, one of the biggest obstacles to
awareness and correction, and removal,

00:17:08 --> 00:17:10
			self denial,

00:17:12 --> 00:17:15
			something, each and every one of us lives,

00:17:16 --> 00:17:26
			in different aspects of our lives, to be able to take criticism, to be able to recognize error,

00:17:27 --> 00:17:30
			it's much easier to deny it.

00:17:31 --> 00:17:38
			And so self denial is a common trait among human beings. The second step

00:17:39 --> 00:17:39
			is that coming

00:17:43 --> 00:17:46
			is to remove the obstacles by solutions.

00:17:48 --> 00:17:50
			We have to identify our solutions.

00:17:52 --> 00:17:53
			And

00:17:54 --> 00:17:58
			we have to take action to remove these obstacles.

00:17:59 --> 00:18:21
			These are, this represents our general strategy, I'm sorry, the screen was really supposed to be in
the middle and everyone should have been able to see it. But let me just say for those of you that
cannot see it, the general strategy for removing obstacles for dealing with the obstacles which
prevent us from achieving inner peace

00:18:23 --> 00:18:28
			are one being aware of those obstacles to

00:18:30 --> 00:18:40
			recognizing them in ourselves accepting them as obstacles within ourselves and three, identifying
the solutions.

00:18:41 --> 00:18:49
			We identify the problem, we identify the solution. And then fourthly, we have to take action.

00:18:50 --> 00:19:09
			Not enough just to have understood to recognize, to even grasp where the solution lies, without
taking action, it is all meaningless. It becomes only a psychological exercise. So

00:19:10 --> 00:19:14
			let us look at where the main obstacles lie.

00:19:16 --> 00:19:18
			Before we go there, no, don't press a button yet.

00:19:19 --> 00:19:21
			I would like to hear from you.

00:19:22 --> 00:19:25
			Where you think the main obstacles lie.

00:19:27 --> 00:19:32
			We have a couple of microphones here. And I want short answers.

00:19:33 --> 00:19:37
			Where the main obstacles lie in our lives.

00:19:38 --> 00:19:41
			Where's the microphone on the women's side? Who's got the microphone?

00:19:43 --> 00:19:44
			Where's the microphone on the men's side?

00:19:46 --> 00:19:48
			Hmm egoism.

00:19:49 --> 00:19:50
			egoism

00:19:51 --> 00:19:52
			okay.

00:19:54 --> 00:19:57
			Somebody's making note of egoism here, please.

00:20:00 --> 00:20:06
			From the woman's side can we get we don't see the microphones not getting there somebody just say
what you think.

00:20:13 --> 00:20:13
			Pardon?

00:20:16 --> 00:20:22
			environments. Okay? We're ambitious, paddle over ambitious,

00:20:24 --> 00:20:25
			ambitious

00:20:26 --> 00:20:30
			MB over ambition. Okay

00:20:31 --> 00:20:32
			Can I hear some more

00:20:34 --> 00:20:35
			paddle

00:20:36 --> 00:20:39
			pride? Yes.

00:20:40 --> 00:20:41
			materialism

00:20:42 --> 00:20:45
			sounds on it from the men

00:20:47 --> 00:20:47
			fear

00:20:49 --> 00:20:51
			traditions

00:20:56 --> 00:20:57
			hatred,

00:20:59 --> 00:21:02
			prejudice, prejudice,

00:21:04 --> 00:21:08
			denial of rights, denial of rights oppression,

00:21:09 --> 00:21:10
			inability to forgive,

00:21:12 --> 00:21:14
			an inability to forgive.

00:21:17 --> 00:21:18
			Pardon

00:21:21 --> 00:21:22
			an absence of

00:21:24 --> 00:21:36
			aim in life. Yes, aimless is an absence of an aim in life. What was that one? endless aimlessness
Okay, same thing.

00:21:38 --> 00:21:40
			A lack of patience,

00:21:41 --> 00:21:42
			ambivalence.

00:21:43 --> 00:21:53
			ambivalence. What do you mean by that? It's between hatred and love, between hatred and love, no
violence,

00:21:54 --> 00:21:55
			poverty,

00:21:56 --> 00:22:16
			an obstacle to inner peace, no clear understanding of about human beings. Pardon no clear
understanding about human values are human beings, no clear understanding of human values or human
beings. Okay, that goes back maybe to materialism.

00:22:18 --> 00:22:20
			Jealousy, yes.

00:22:24 --> 00:22:32
			lack of faith, not on purpose of life, lack of faith and lack of conviction not doing what Allah
wants from us.

00:22:33 --> 00:22:35
			A lack of faith and lack of conviction okay.

00:22:36 --> 00:23:01
			The power the unbridled greed for power and control and unbridled greed for power and control and
unclear destination unclear destination okay. The complexes, complexes inferiority and superiority
complexes, okay. Related inferiority superiority complexes, let me say

00:23:03 --> 00:23:04
			you have mentioned many,

00:23:06 --> 00:23:08
			and all of them have a role.

00:23:10 --> 00:23:11
			I would say

00:23:14 --> 00:23:16
			that the main obstacles

00:23:19 --> 00:23:37
			involved involve personal problems, okay. These are the personal things that you just mentioned, the
pride, the jealousy, the greed, the desire for control and power and these kind of things, your
personal problems, defects in character.

00:23:39 --> 00:23:57
			The second group, we could call family issues, people didn't really talk too much about these family
issues. Don't these affect our inner peace? When family things are not moving smoothly?

00:23:58 --> 00:24:03
			lack of communication. husband doesn't communicate with the wife.

00:24:04 --> 00:24:28
			Parents don't communicate with the kids. You know, isn't this a problem? Is this a problem area?
does it create friction, lack of inner peace? Yes, it's a big area. And all of us in one way or
another are parts of families and a dysfunctional family will naturally be a big obstacle to
achieving inner peace.

00:24:31 --> 00:24:38
			Next categories financial dilemmas. Yeah, there are many we spoke about that poverty,

00:24:40 --> 00:24:52
			low salaries, problems at work in general. You're not getting paid for the work that you're doing.
You know, finances money.

00:24:54 --> 00:24:55
			Also,

00:24:57 --> 00:24:59
			there are also work pressures.

00:25:00 --> 00:25:13
			Outside of the actual financial issues at work, those of us that are out working, we have a boss
who's a tyrant. Now, it's not our problem. It's not my problem that my boss is the tyrant

00:25:14 --> 00:25:22
			and autocrat, he makes all the decisions he never, you know, delegates, every decision has to be in
his hand.

00:25:23 --> 00:25:50
			It makes life very difficult, very difficult to work with. And I know this is an experience, most of
us who are here who are expatriates, we have experienced this, you know, it seems to be a common
trait in this part of the world, the leader who wants to make the decision for everything, he cannot
delegate, so everything takes much longer. And he wants to make decisions in areas he doesn't even
have knowledge of

00:25:51 --> 00:25:54
			problems, that autocrats

00:25:55 --> 00:26:07
			well work related problems. Then we have the last major character, category, which I call spiritual
confusion.

00:26:10 --> 00:26:41
			Because we as human beings, are not only physical entities, with emotion, intellect, coming from it,
but we are also spiritual beings. There is a spiritual longing that we have this spiritual essence,
which is truly us. I mean, what we see on the outside of the external is only a cover, it doesn't
really represent the internal, the spiritual

00:26:42 --> 00:26:45
			us So naturally,

00:26:46 --> 00:27:05
			where that spiritual being is in a state of confusion, then inner peace becomes difficult, how to
achieve it, when spiritually, we are at a loss, we don't know, we are in that dilemma.

00:27:09 --> 00:27:10
			So

00:27:11 --> 00:27:15
			our obstacles are many.

00:27:17 --> 00:27:29
			You mentioned many, and I mentioned some general headings for some of what you mentioned, and there
are others. If we were to try to tackle each and every one of them this evening,

00:27:30 --> 00:27:33
			I think it would take a few weeks

00:27:34 --> 00:27:41
			to take us a few weeks, we couldn't do it in two hours to be real. So what we need to do

00:27:43 --> 00:27:44
			is to

00:27:45 --> 00:27:49
			divide them into two categories, two major categories

00:27:51 --> 00:27:52
			that we can work with

00:27:55 --> 00:28:02
			what we perceive of the obstacles, we have to admit that there are certain obstacles which are
beyond our control.

00:28:04 --> 00:28:19
			And it's important for us if we're going to try to remove obstacles to identify them to know which
obstacles are beyond our control, so that we don't waste energy, trying to deal with something that
we really can do nothing about.

00:28:26 --> 00:28:27
			So

00:28:28 --> 00:28:37
			it is important for us to be able to know what we can do and what we can't get the button.

00:28:40 --> 00:28:46
			The Prophet, Prophet Mohammed, may God's peace be upon him the last of the prophets. He said,

00:28:47 --> 00:28:58
			If the spirits, the jinn, and humans gathered together to benefit you, they could only benefit you
with something which God has written for you.

00:29:01 --> 00:29:06
			They could only benefit you with something God has written for you.

00:29:08 --> 00:29:17
			There is this area that we really have no control over. It's coming. Like it or not.

00:29:19 --> 00:29:20
			He also said

00:29:26 --> 00:29:34
			No, he didn't say this. But there is this prayer, which is commonly called the Serenity Prayer.

00:29:35 --> 00:30:00
			And it consists of the state of three statements basically, this is one way of saying it can be said
in different ways. We seek the patience to surrender to the unchangeable, we seek the patience to
surrender to the unchangeable. What the Prophet spoke about. May God's peace and blessings be upon
him those unchangeable things, we need to have patience.

00:30:01 --> 00:30:16
			Remember, we mentioned one of the obstacles, lack of patience, obstacles to achieving peace. So we
need to have patience. When we recognize these unchangeable elements in our lives, we have to have
patience to deal with them.

00:30:21 --> 00:30:22
			Also,

00:30:23 --> 00:30:40
			we need the spiritual strength to change what is changeable? Because after identifying the
unchangeable, then we're left with a chunk of changeable things in our lives. But now, how do we
change them?

00:30:41 --> 00:30:53
			How do we go about changing them? Do we as individuals have the power all by ourselves? to change
them? This is the question.

00:30:56 --> 00:30:58
			And lastly,

00:31:02 --> 00:31:10
			we need to have the wisdom to realize the difference between these two categories between

00:31:11 --> 00:31:14
			the unchangeable and the changeable.

00:31:15 --> 00:31:20
			If we have the wisdom to identify them, then

00:31:21 --> 00:31:25
			we have the means to remove them and to correct them.

00:31:28 --> 00:31:34
			Let us go back to our first category, we seek the patience to surrender to the unchangeable.

00:31:37 --> 00:31:37
			For example,

00:31:39 --> 00:31:40
			if we say

00:31:42 --> 00:31:48
			I was born black, in a world, which favors white people over black people,

00:31:50 --> 00:31:54
			Can I do anything about being black? Well,

00:31:55 --> 00:31:56
			Michael Jackson thought he could,

00:31:59 --> 00:32:00
			you know,

00:32:01 --> 00:32:06
			he was trying to change the unchangeable. And he really messed himself up.

00:32:07 --> 00:32:09
			He really messed himself up,

00:32:10 --> 00:32:11
			better to accept

00:32:13 --> 00:32:18
			how you're born, how God has created you, and work with it,

00:32:20 --> 00:32:29
			or being born poor, in a world which favors the rich over the poor. Again, that's what we were born
into.

00:32:30 --> 00:32:34
			Can we change that? birth,

00:32:35 --> 00:32:51
			of course, we can change our state of being poor by trying to increase our wealth through knowledge
through work through whatever. But the fact that we were born poor, we can't change that.

00:32:52 --> 00:33:02
			We had no decision as to which family we're going to be born in. Whether we're born in a village in
Bangladesh, or born in New York City,

00:33:04 --> 00:33:08
			who decides that this is among the unchangeable.

00:33:09 --> 00:33:25
			Of course, we do have much of the Third World lusting after the first world trying to get a visa, to
go to America or to Canada, at least get nationality. We can try to change something of that. But

00:33:27 --> 00:33:43
			realities of birth, we cannot change. Similarly, being born short, in a world that favors tall
people being born, plump, in a world that favors slim people.

00:33:45 --> 00:33:51
			These are things that really, we need to just put aside, don't waste our energies

00:33:52 --> 00:33:54
			on trying to change these things.

00:33:56 --> 00:33:58
			And God said, anyway,

00:34:01 --> 00:34:01
			in the crime,

00:34:04 --> 00:34:05
			perhaps

00:34:07 --> 00:34:12
			something good for you, and love something harmful to you.

00:34:14 --> 00:34:27
			This is a reality of our lives, that there are so many things that happened to us, which are beyond
our control, and we are upset about it, we hate it.

00:34:28 --> 00:34:31
			But later on, we find out that it was something good.

00:34:33 --> 00:34:39
			And so many times we desire something which we feel is really good for us.

00:34:41 --> 00:34:59
			But later on, we find out that it wasn't it was harmful. This is the reality of our lives. We really
don't know ultimately, what is good for us, and what is harmful, so when incidents befall us in
life,

00:35:01 --> 00:35:13
			We have to look beyond them. We can't get caught up in the incident itself. We have to know
ultimately, as Steven Covey said,

00:35:15 --> 00:35:17
			be in a win win situation,

00:35:18 --> 00:35:22
			be in a win win situation, whatever happens,

00:35:24 --> 00:35:32
			make the best of it. Find the silver lining with the rain cloud. The reality is that it's there.

00:35:34 --> 00:35:46
			There is a good side. What happens in our lives are ultimately for our benefits. But it's a matter
of realizing where the benefit lies. So we need to strive for it,

00:35:47 --> 00:35:51
			to search for it to be patient until we find it.

00:35:54 --> 00:35:57
			I remember some years back

00:35:58 --> 00:36:01
			about three or four years back. When

00:36:02 --> 00:36:12
			I saw in the newspaper, I was living in the Emirates at the time. And there was this article in the
newspaper. They had a picture of

00:36:13 --> 00:36:15
			it teacher from

00:36:17 --> 00:36:47
			Egypt. He was there with this big smile on his face. He had Moses both of his thumbs up and a thumbs
up. And on one side, his father was kissing him on his cheek and the other side. His sister was
kissing him on his cheek. Or maybe was his wife I'm not sure. Anyway. There it was big smile. Thumbs
up. Father, wife or father sister kissing your money either cheek. Then underneath they had the
caption. What happened is that

00:36:49 --> 00:36:50
			a day before that

00:36:52 --> 00:36:55
			he was due to get on the flight

00:36:57 --> 00:37:17
			to Bahrain, Gulf Air Flight, heading for the rain, all the teachers who are teaching in Bahrain,
they were to get on this flight and flying to Bahrain, or the number of different flights. But this
was the last of the flights. last flight, he delayed leaving till the last minute.

00:37:19 --> 00:37:26
			When he ran to the airport with his bags and everything. He found out that he was missing a stamp

00:37:27 --> 00:37:42
			in Egypt to do anything. You have to have 100 stamps, you stamp you go to this one stamps comes back
to that one stamps, again. You go to that one, you know, you have 100 stamps.

00:37:44 --> 00:37:46
			And if you're wondering why this is happening here also

00:37:48 --> 00:37:51
			because Egyptians came and set up the

00:37:52 --> 00:37:56
			administration here. So this is the legacy right?

00:37:57 --> 00:38:23
			Anyway, back in Egypt, he had missed out one stamp, Mr. One stamp there he was at the airport, he
didn't have his stamp. They weren't going to let him on the plane. He was in tears. If he came late,
his pay would be docked. Maybe he would be fired. You know, all kinds just had conjured up all kinds
of terrible situations happening to him. He was missing his flight back.

00:38:25 --> 00:38:37
			Of course, you all know, that was the flight, Gulf Air Flight, which crashed and all of the
passengers died. No survivors.

00:38:38 --> 00:38:47
			So when the news came, the next day, there he was thumbs up the day before he was in abject, you
know,

00:38:49 --> 00:38:59
			distress, and depressed and life just crumbled all around him. And the next day, thumbs up smiling
from ear to ear.

00:39:01 --> 00:39:03
			This is life.

00:39:04 --> 00:39:22
			Also, I remember an incident a few years back, where my father in law in the states had been invited
with his friends to go on a fishing trip. They had been planning for this trip for a number of
months, you know, and

00:39:24 --> 00:39:40
			they were all ready to do it. And the last minute, one of the kids got sick. He couldn't go on the
trip. Ah. He was missing out on this trip. You know, because it's not often that he and all of his
friends were able to get together and go out on the trip.

00:39:42 --> 00:39:46
			The next day, they the others went on the trip he didn't go on it.

00:39:47 --> 00:39:49
			But what happened was

00:39:50 --> 00:39:58
			stormy weather, the ship their yacht to overturned and everybody drowned.

00:40:00 --> 00:40:17
			Except one amongst them, who wasn't a good swimmer. All the others were good swimmers. So it was my
father in law. But the one person on the whole ship, who was a bad couldn't swim, swim to save his
life. He is the one who survived,

00:40:20 --> 00:40:36
			is real. And I'm sure each and every one of you have in your lives, similar experiences, whether to
you directly or to those around you. This is the nature of the life in which we are,

00:40:37 --> 00:40:44
			you may like something and it's not good for you. And you may dislike something, and it's really
good for you.

00:40:46 --> 00:41:11
			So what we need is the spiritual strength to change that which is changeable, let's leave the
unchangeable let us be patient with the unchangeable patience is the key for removing the obstacles
of the unchangeable. That is the key patience.

00:41:12 --> 00:41:31
			And everybody knows it. Patience is a virtue. I remember, this is what I was told, growing up,
patience is a virtue. Yes, it is. Patience, in all of its manifestations, patience, on one hand, to
accept

00:41:32 --> 00:41:34
			what we cannot change.

00:41:35 --> 00:41:49
			And also, on the other hand, to be patient in continuing to do things that we know, are good,
because we're in a world in which we are being tested.

00:41:50 --> 00:41:57
			A world in which good and evil, don't seem to be equal.

00:41:58 --> 00:42:00
			Evil seems to be dominant.

00:42:03 --> 00:42:07
			Those people who take the shortcuts who take the bribes

00:42:08 --> 00:42:14
			seem to be the ones who are successful, the honest person doesn't seem to be very successful.

00:42:15 --> 00:42:18
			So the temptation not to be honest, is great.

00:42:21 --> 00:42:24
			The temptation, not to be honest, is great.

00:42:26 --> 00:42:35
			How do we remain honest, it is through patience, we have to be patient, believing ultimately, that

00:42:36 --> 00:42:51
			in being patient, with honesty, staying on the honest path, it ultimately leads to good. Even if we
can't see immediate benefit around us, it ultimately does lead to good.

00:42:52 --> 00:42:55
			And in the Quran, mentioned here,

00:42:56 --> 00:42:59
			God said, Hello, just

00:43:01 --> 00:43:05
			Is there any reward for good other than good?

00:43:07 --> 00:43:18
			Yes, if we stay right, and are patient with trying to do the right thing, ultimately, we will be
rewarded.

00:43:19 --> 00:43:23
			Now, in dealing with the changeable things,

00:43:24 --> 00:43:57
			we have to develop a strategy, the changeable things, for the most part, are related to ourselves.
The unchangeable things are things around us our environments, the things that we can't change,
which are fixed, our born, where we're born, etc. But the changeable things do come back to us. So
it means that if we want to achieve inner peace, we do really have to focus on ourselves.

00:43:59 --> 00:44:15
			We can't spend time and effort on those outside of ourselves, who we can't change. We can try to
influence them, we can try to encourage them, etc. But whether they will change or they won't.
That's up to them.

00:44:17 --> 00:44:21
			What's up to us is whether we change or not.

00:44:22 --> 00:44:23
			So

00:44:24 --> 00:44:30
			we have to focus on ourselves and focusing on ourselves.

00:44:32 --> 00:44:52
			We have to realize we have to accept that left only to ourselves. We are likely to fall back every
time we try to change something ourselves. It is so easy to fall back and to do what we said we
weren't going to do anymore.

00:44:54 --> 00:44:56
			Some organizations

00:44:57 --> 00:44:59
			like Alcoholics Anonymous

00:45:00 --> 00:45:10
			Dealing with an addiction, a major addiction in societies today, especially amongst Western
societies, and even here,

00:45:12 --> 00:45:15
			when they outline they plan

00:45:16 --> 00:45:18
			to deal with addiction,

00:45:19 --> 00:45:31
			trying a number of different methods, they found that it was essential that those involve link
themselves to a higher power.

00:45:32 --> 00:45:35
			They believe in God

00:45:38 --> 00:45:43
			was a necessary component for them to achieve

00:45:45 --> 00:45:49
			freedom from the servitude, of alcoholism.

00:45:50 --> 00:45:58
			Those who are able to do it, were able to change those who are not, were mostly unable

00:46:02 --> 00:46:03
			in practice

00:46:04 --> 00:46:05
			in the US,

00:46:08 --> 00:46:12
			when Islam began to spread

00:46:14 --> 00:46:15
			in the jails,

00:46:17 --> 00:46:19
			there was some alarm and some concern.

00:46:21 --> 00:46:24
			But after a period of time,

00:46:26 --> 00:46:38
			the penal system noted that people who became Muslims in jails, people with violent paths, etc,

00:46:39 --> 00:47:00
			changed, they were able to make changes that they were not before. That connection, that link made a
difference in their lives, enable them to make the step they needed to make, which otherwise they
would not have succeeded.

00:47:02 --> 00:47:03
			So what we're coming to here

00:47:06 --> 00:47:06
			is,

00:47:08 --> 00:47:10
			as God said, in the Quran,

00:47:11 --> 00:47:22
			it is only with the remembrance of God, that hearts, find rest, that inner peace that we seek,
through changing ourselves,

00:47:23 --> 00:47:33
			is ultimately linked with the remembrance of God, being conscious of God, accepting God in our
lives.

00:47:34 --> 00:47:42
			If we don't accept God in our lives, then ultimately we will not achieve inner peace.

00:47:43 --> 00:47:53
			We may achieve some elements of enjoyment at different points in our lives, but inner peace, we
won't achieve it.

00:47:56 --> 00:47:57
			The reality

00:47:58 --> 00:48:02
			is that we are created beings.

00:48:04 --> 00:48:05
			We didn't come about

00:48:06 --> 00:48:08
			by chance.

00:48:09 --> 00:48:11
			Those who say there's no God,

00:48:12 --> 00:48:25
			say that we are here by chance. We just popped into existence, the Big Bang took place so many
billions of years ago. And out of the Big Bang. Here we are today.

00:48:27 --> 00:48:32
			Darwin's theory of evolution in between and up we popped.

00:48:34 --> 00:48:34
			Well,

00:48:36 --> 00:48:37
			practical,

00:48:38 --> 00:48:40
			a practical view of life

00:48:41 --> 00:48:43
			seems to indicate otherwise.

00:48:47 --> 00:48:51
			If we were to take an atomic bomb,

00:48:53 --> 00:48:56
			one of the weapons of mass destruction

00:48:58 --> 00:49:05
			we were to take one of these weapons of mass destruction and drop it in a junkyard.

00:49:06 --> 00:49:12
			junkyard where they collect all the parts of cars spare parts on them. We drop

00:49:14 --> 00:49:21
			that weapon of mass destruction in there. What are the chances of a Rolls Royce rolling out?

00:49:23 --> 00:49:29
			Rolls Royce comes out. door is open key in the ignition engine humming.

00:49:31 --> 00:49:32
			Just need to get in and drive away.

00:49:34 --> 00:49:35
			What are the chances of that?

00:49:36 --> 00:49:42
			Well, some people say if you keep dropping atomic bombs in the junkyard, one day it will happen.

00:49:43 --> 00:49:44
			But

00:49:45 --> 00:49:59
			let us not fool ourselves. The chances of it happening after a billion attempts is no different than
the first attempt. It's all the same. And just as in our minds, our common sense tells us it is

00:50:00 --> 00:50:01
			Impossible.

00:50:02 --> 00:50:12
			Guess what? When we say the Big Bang brought us into existence, we are far more complex than a Rolls
Royce.

00:50:13 --> 00:50:18
			No big explosion of matter produced us.

00:50:19 --> 00:50:44
			That is like the Rolls Royce from the junkyard. Common sense tells us, but of course, we are
tempted. we're tempted to want to say, yeah, it is by accident. Yes. It's by evolution. Yes. Our
grandparents were monkeys. Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense. We've seen it in the books, we've seen the
films about it.

00:50:46 --> 00:50:47
			It makes sense.

00:50:49 --> 00:50:53
			But rarely in our heart of hearts. We know it's not true.

00:50:55 --> 00:50:56
			It's not true.

00:50:57 --> 00:51:11
			And until we come to grips with this, to realize to understand that we are creative beings, and
there is a creator,

00:51:12 --> 00:51:27
			we will be at a loss, we will not achieve inner peace. We cannot find it without the remembrance of
God, knowing that God has created us.

00:51:29 --> 00:51:33
			Of course, some of us will say, Yeah, okay. I know God created me, God

00:51:36 --> 00:51:38
			created us. But

00:51:41 --> 00:51:45
			He created us and this world is too insignificant for him to get involved in.

00:51:47 --> 00:51:54
			It's nothing. Why would God get involved with this world, just like us getting involved with an
anthill?

00:51:55 --> 00:52:16
			You know, you see the ants crawling in the hole, then, to go and dig it up and find out what's going
on inside the antenna. Yes, you do have some people who do that. But for the average person to get
involved with what's going on in an anthill. What's the point? insignificant. Similarly, God created
the world and he just let it roll on by itself.

00:52:19 --> 00:52:22
			He just let it roll on by itself.

00:52:23 --> 00:52:46
			So it's just the life we live. Do whatever makes you happy. Find your inner peace to whatever
pleasures will produce it for you. And that's what it is, you know, there is no real goal and
purpose, purpose,

00:52:47 --> 00:53:11
			purpose. There's no purpose. We're just here. no different from the elephants, the monkeys, the
fish, the birds, just living and dying, procreating. That's it? no purpose. But God created us.
Well, if we just stop for a minute and think

00:53:13 --> 00:53:15
			if God created us,

00:53:17 --> 00:53:21
			without any clear purpose, we just deliver life.

00:53:23 --> 00:53:25
			What does that say about God?

00:53:26 --> 00:53:28
			If we found somebody said to us,

00:53:31 --> 00:53:37
			I have this wonderful machine here, we see it, parts are spinning and things are going up and down
and

00:53:39 --> 00:53:41
			steam is coming out of it.

00:53:43 --> 00:53:51
			And then we ask the person what is the purpose of this machine? They say? no purpose.

00:53:53 --> 00:53:54
			What are we going to do?

00:53:55 --> 00:54:01
			What are we going to think? Something wrong here? This person has lost his mind.

00:54:02 --> 00:54:09
			Somebody comes knocking on your door. Knock knock you open the door. What do you want? person says,
I don't know.

00:54:10 --> 00:54:21
			Who do you want? I don't know. Why are you here? I don't know. No purpose. I say call 911 ring him
up.

00:54:26 --> 00:54:31
			Okay. We say call 911 or whatever.

00:54:32 --> 00:54:34
			And take him away.

00:54:35 --> 00:54:36
			Such a person

00:54:38 --> 00:54:42
			has lost his or her mind.

00:54:44 --> 00:54:55
			Insane, foolish, unwise. We have a lot of terms for such a person. So when we say that God created
this world

00:54:56 --> 00:54:59
			and let it run without any purpose.

00:55:01 --> 00:55:03
			That's what we're attributing to God.

00:55:06 --> 00:55:08
			Common sense tells us No,

00:55:10 --> 00:55:15
			God, the Creator who had the power to do all of this surely

00:55:17 --> 00:55:18
			must be wiser than we are,

00:55:19 --> 00:55:22
			surely must be the ultimate in wisdom

00:55:24 --> 00:55:33
			and creation without purpose. Even in our own simple lives, we recognize as being unwise,

00:55:36 --> 00:55:49
			unwise, so, it is essential for us, to recognize God in our lives, to accept God into our lives. And
to understand that there is a purpose here.

00:55:50 --> 00:55:54
			There is a purpose for us being here.

00:55:55 --> 00:55:57
			If we have understood it,

00:55:58 --> 00:55:59
			then

00:56:01 --> 00:56:04
			we can put trust in God.

00:56:07 --> 00:56:42
			We can gain the qualities which will help us to overcome the obstacles to our achievement of inner
peace. Among them patience, we said, some people seem to be born patient, most of us have to
struggle with it. Well, the prophet had said, Whoever pretends to be patient trying to be patient, I
don't mean just faking it, but they're trying struggling. So they have to, they give an outer
expression of patience. But inside they're struggling.

00:56:44 --> 00:57:25
			Eventually, if they're doing that sincerely, knowing that this is what God wants from them,
eventually, they will gain patience, it will come to them, it is something which can be learned. And
this is, this is not just only for patients, all of the various characteristics that we identify as
being good, wholesome, beneficial characteristics, which would obviously contribute to our state of
inner peace, all of them can be acquired, they can be acquired, by striving to

00:57:27 --> 00:58:02
			live them. Of course, it's a struggle, it's not easy. It's much easier not to acquire them, it's
much easier to be impatient, to be angry, to be unfair, to be unkind, all of this is easier, it's
much more difficult to stay on the right way, much more difficult. But ultimately, if we want inner
peace, then we have to be ready to pay its price. It's not cheap, it will not come cheaply,

00:58:03 --> 00:58:06
			we will not achieve it by

00:58:10 --> 00:58:15
			lighting a lamp and staring at that lamp meditating.

00:58:17 --> 00:58:20
			To achieve inner peace, we won't achieve it that way.

00:58:23 --> 00:58:24
			This is not natural.

00:58:25 --> 00:58:34
			This is unnatural. Whatever we achieve, from staring at a lamp, or a light, or a point or whatever,

00:58:35 --> 00:58:43
			in terms of quietening, our thoughts in a quiet room. As soon as we go out into the noisy world,
it's gone,

00:58:44 --> 00:58:45
			has gone.

00:58:46 --> 00:58:48
			The peace everything is gone finished.

00:58:49 --> 00:58:53
			Because we have created something in an artificial, unreal

00:58:54 --> 00:58:59
			environment. That's not the world we live. Nobody can live like that.

00:59:02 --> 00:59:04
			So we have to

00:59:05 --> 00:59:06
			address

00:59:07 --> 00:59:22
			this issue of God with regards to ourselves. We have to accept him in our lives. And we have to
remember him. Remember God, remembering God meaning,

00:59:24 --> 00:59:32
			remembering that God is watching over us. He is aware of whatever we do.

00:59:33 --> 00:59:42
			He is pleased with us doing good and displeased with us doing bad. He wants for us good.

00:59:45 --> 00:59:50
			Knowing that he's with us doing bad. He wants for us good.

00:59:52 --> 00:59:55
			Knowing that we try to do what is right

00:59:57 --> 00:59:59
			and God promises us

01:00:00 --> 01:00:07
			As mentioned in the Quran, whoever trusts in God in him will find him sufficient.

01:00:08 --> 01:00:10
			If we put our trust in God,

01:00:11 --> 01:00:19
			when we find ourselves in difficulties, etc, ultimately, he will be sufficient for us.

01:00:20 --> 01:01:02
			He is one who will always come through everybody else that we trust in, we put our trust in our
wives or husbands, our children, our bosses, our cars are mechanics. We put our trust in all kinds
of people around us, and things. But what happens time and time again, they break our trust. And
when they break our trust, what happens? We are upset, inner peace is destroyed, we're in turmoil,
or angry or whatever. Because we trusted them, I trusted you.

01:01:04 --> 01:01:06
			You promised me

01:01:07 --> 01:01:09
			and you broke your promise.

01:01:11 --> 01:01:17
			That's the world around us. It's going to happen time and time again.

01:01:18 --> 01:01:19
			And

01:01:20 --> 01:01:23
			if we keep doing the same thing,

01:01:25 --> 01:01:27
			over and over again,

01:01:29 --> 01:01:35
			should we be surprised that we keep getting the same results over and over again.

01:01:38 --> 01:01:42
			So if we keep putting our full trust in people,

01:01:44 --> 01:01:50
			then don't be surprised that it will be broken time and time again.

01:01:51 --> 01:01:59
			This is the bottom line, we have no way out of that. People will always break our trust.

01:02:01 --> 01:02:13
			And one who continually does the same thing over and over again expecting different results, we call
this person or call this kind of behavior, obsessive behavior.

01:02:14 --> 01:02:33
			We, in each and every one of our lives have elements of this, keep doing the same thing, expecting
different results, but we keep getting the same results. We say like banging your head against the
wall. It's not gonna move, it's gonna hurt every time we do it. Yeah.

01:02:35 --> 01:02:36
			So

01:02:37 --> 01:02:49
			we have to put our trust, the ultimate trust in the only one, who 100% will not break it. And that
is God.

01:02:51 --> 01:02:51
			As

01:02:52 --> 01:02:56
			God says in the Quran, while I have lamora buka

01:02:58 --> 01:03:04
			your Lord will not be unfair and oppress anyone.

01:03:06 --> 01:03:15
			That is his promise. So if we had to put our trust that we need to put it in the one who will not
break our trust.

01:03:16 --> 01:03:17
			Furthermore,

01:03:19 --> 01:03:48
			God says, God will make a way out for whoever trusts in Him. God will make a way out for whoever
trusts in him, meaning, whatever situation we find ourselves in, no matter how bad it is, if we
trust in God, put our trust in God, then an exit from that situation will appear for us, we will
find a way out a good way forward is better.

01:03:49 --> 01:04:09
			Meaning when God makes that promise, he's saying basically, that if you find yourself in a difficult
circumstance, don't make that an excuse for doing what you know, you shouldn't do. Don't use that as
an excuse. Oh, I was

01:04:11 --> 01:04:14
			it was this circumstance.

01:04:16 --> 01:04:23
			We have a million excuses to justify doing what we know we shouldn't do.

01:04:25 --> 01:04:26
			Well, God says,

01:04:27 --> 01:04:40
			if you trust in Him, He will show a way out for you. So you don't have to do that. That whatever you
do, will be what he wants you to do, what is good.

01:04:42 --> 01:04:43
			Also,

01:04:51 --> 01:04:57
			we have to consider ultimately, as we said, the very purpose of our creation.

01:04:58 --> 01:04:59
			Why are we

01:05:00 --> 01:05:04
			Hear, because inner peace is linked to this.

01:05:05 --> 01:05:10
			If we don't really know why we're here, okay, we know that God created us.

01:05:11 --> 01:05:12
			And He created us

01:05:14 --> 01:05:21
			with a purpose, then we need to know that purpose. We need to know what are we doing in this world.

01:05:23 --> 01:05:41
			It will inform us who we are, it will clarify to us what is going on in the world around us. It will
give us awareness which will help us to deal with the trials of our lives and give us the inner
strength,

01:05:43 --> 01:05:44
			the spiritual inner strength

01:05:45 --> 01:06:05
			to find that inner peace by removing the obstacles, obstacles, which mainly fall on ourselves,
they're on our shoulders, we need to change them. So what is the purpose of life?

01:06:06 --> 01:06:12
			Each and every one of us ask ourselves at different points in our lives, why am I here? What am I
doing here?

01:06:15 --> 01:06:20
			Well, the Quran offers an explanation, the Quran,

01:06:22 --> 01:06:35
			which Muslims believe, to be revelation from God, a book of Revelation, which has remained unchanged
for 1400 years.

01:06:38 --> 01:06:39
			It states in their

01:06:40 --> 01:06:47
			eye, God, have only created the spirits and humans, to worship me.

01:06:50 --> 01:06:51
			That our creation

01:06:54 --> 01:06:56
			what is required of us

01:06:57 --> 01:06:58
			is to worship God

01:07:00 --> 01:07:03
			is to be in a state of worshiping God.

01:07:07 --> 01:07:08
			And when we consider

01:07:11 --> 01:07:16
			worshiping God being a purpose, or the purpose of life,

01:07:18 --> 01:07:19
			what do we mean?

01:07:22 --> 01:07:24
			commonly we think of worship as just being prayer,

01:07:26 --> 01:07:29
			or perhaps fasting, giving in charity.

01:07:30 --> 01:07:33
			These are acts of worship. However,

01:07:34 --> 01:07:41
			the Quran offers a revolutionary new approach

01:07:42 --> 01:07:43
			to worship.

01:07:44 --> 01:07:57
			It states they're called in alati, for new Suki, balmaha amati, lillahi, Rabbil aalameen. Indeed, my
prayers,

01:07:59 --> 01:08:04
			my sacrifices, my living, and my dying

01:08:05 --> 01:08:06
			is for

01:08:07 --> 01:08:10
			a law, the Lord of the worlds

01:08:11 --> 01:08:15
			a law being an Arabic name for God,

01:08:17 --> 01:08:22
			not a different gods. Sometimes people think Muslims have this other God called a law. No.

01:08:23 --> 01:08:26
			Christian Arabs called God a law. So

01:08:27 --> 01:08:40
			a law is an ancient name in Arabic, for God, actually, those of you who want to see the passion, the
Passion of Christ.

01:08:42 --> 01:08:44
			If you listen closely

01:08:45 --> 01:08:49
			to Jesus, when he was calling on God,

01:08:50 --> 01:08:55
			and they translated the word for calling on God, the term to use was what? Allah

01:08:56 --> 01:09:03
			because Aramaic, the language of Jesus is a sister language of Arabic.

01:09:05 --> 01:09:07
			Allah is an ancient name.

01:09:08 --> 01:09:09
			So

01:09:10 --> 01:09:12
			if we consider as I said,

01:09:13 --> 01:09:16
			that purpose is to worship God.

01:09:17 --> 01:09:25
			What is meant by that, it is meant what is meant is that one's life is dedicated to God.

01:09:26 --> 01:09:45
			All aspects of life is dedicated God should be dedicated to God. This is the true worship of God. It
is not going to the mosque on Friday, going to the church on Sunday, going to the synagogue on
Saturday, going to a temple whenever.

01:09:46 --> 01:09:47
			No,

01:09:48 --> 01:09:51
			it is living a complete life.

01:09:53 --> 01:10:00
			Doing what is pleasing to God. This is worship. This is the fulfillment of

01:10:00 --> 01:10:01
			This purpose.

01:10:03 --> 01:10:04
			So

01:10:06 --> 01:10:11
			what I am presenting What is it I'm suggesting here, I'm suggesting that

01:10:13 --> 01:10:17
			inner peace that we seek the inner peace that we seek

01:10:19 --> 01:10:30
			is not something that we can package in a small package like drugs or music or the stuff No, it is
something which has to do with the whole of our lives.

01:10:32 --> 01:10:34
			Our complete state,

01:10:36 --> 01:10:45
			it isn't dealing with the unchangeable, and dealing with the changeable. It has to do with all
aspects of our lives.

01:10:46 --> 01:10:47
			Islam

01:10:49 --> 01:10:50
			is

01:10:52 --> 01:11:00
			the religion which God prescribed for human beings. It is the religion prescribed

01:11:01 --> 01:11:02
			by God.

01:11:03 --> 01:11:13
			People say, Well, no, but Mohammed, you know, he just popped up 1400 years ago, and there was Jesus
before him and Moses and so on. So how can you say Islam?

01:11:14 --> 01:11:15
			Is the religion of God,

01:11:17 --> 01:11:19
			prescribed for human beings that's kind of

01:11:20 --> 01:11:27
			one sided, narrow minded, bigoted, and all kinds of other things. Well, what is Islam mean?

01:11:28 --> 01:11:32
			What is Islam? What is this religion? Is it mohammedanism? No,

01:11:34 --> 01:11:34
			no.

01:11:35 --> 01:11:36
			Islam

01:11:37 --> 01:11:38
			is

01:11:39 --> 01:11:50
			the submission of one's will to God. That's what Islam means submission of the human will, to God.

01:11:52 --> 01:11:55
			It also means peace.

01:11:57 --> 01:12:10
			That is the other meaning if you go to a dictionary, Arabic English dictionary, you dig up that word
Islam, you find it has two meanings, one, submission, surrender, surrender to God.

01:12:11 --> 01:12:23
			And it also means peace, because true inner peace can only be achieved when one surrenders,
ultimately, to God.

01:12:25 --> 01:12:27
			That is where it lies, to inner peace.

01:12:28 --> 01:12:29
			So

01:12:32 --> 01:12:42
			this is where I believe, our quest, and the quest ends here at Islam.

01:12:43 --> 01:12:45
			This is my proposal, my suggestion.

01:12:47 --> 01:13:02
			Each and every one of us owes it to ourselves, to investigate this claim, this proposal and this
suggestion. And of course, non Muslims might think, well, oh, he's just trying to convert this to
Islam.

01:13:03 --> 01:13:23
			Well, no, it's a proposal. And guess what? It doesn't only include you, it includes Muslims, too.
Because so many Muslims today, unfortunately, are unaware of really, what Islam is that submission.

01:13:24 --> 01:13:27
			They haven't really understood it.

01:13:28 --> 01:13:37
			What they have understood is the inherited culture and legacy of the generation that they were born
into

01:13:39 --> 01:13:41
			a Muslim why because my parents are Muslim.

01:13:43 --> 01:13:45
			says that my passport Muslim.

01:13:47 --> 01:13:50
			But can you inherit submission?

01:13:51 --> 01:14:01
			No. submission is an act of the Spirit, which each and every individual has to do for himself or
herself.

01:14:02 --> 01:14:06
			So this proposal is as much

01:14:08 --> 01:14:09
			a need

01:14:11 --> 01:14:15
			of non Muslims as it is Muslims.

01:14:16 --> 01:14:33
			Because when we look in the world today, because of course, the question that comes up is okay,
Islam means peace and surrender. Then why do we find all these Muslims fighting everywhere we turn
around? They seem to be fighting, you know, Chechnya, Bosnia, Kashmir.

01:14:35 --> 01:14:44
			911. It might have been them. Yes. And all over the place, seem to be involved in all this violence.
Well,

01:14:46 --> 01:14:59
			we must separate politics, from religion. What is really religion, the way of life, not the Friday
prayer or the Sunday Mass

01:15:00 --> 01:15:22
			Whatever No, but the way of life that one lives that is, and has its own principles, which guides
it. And much of what you see in the world today, done by Muslims cannot be attributed to that way of
life known as Islam.

01:15:23 --> 01:15:33
			It's individuals, as Irish Catholics, in their struggle to liberate themselves from

01:15:34 --> 01:15:38
			British or English, Protestants blew up

01:15:40 --> 01:15:41
			pubs and blew up

01:15:43 --> 01:15:47
			railway stations and blew up and blew up and blew up people. We didn't call them

01:15:48 --> 01:16:00
			Catholic terrorists. So why do we want to call those Muslims who do terrorist, terrorist acts?
Muslim terrorists? No, they're just terrorists. I don't

01:16:01 --> 01:16:06
			call them by any other name. They're just terrorists. So if we want to know

01:16:08 --> 01:16:18
			what Islam really is, then we need to go back to the sources. This is where we can find out what is
that way of life.

01:16:20 --> 01:16:26
			That book of Revelation, called the crime, which contains its description,

01:16:27 --> 01:16:48
			and the prophetic statements, which elaborate on its teachings, we all owe it to ourselves, Muslim
and non Muslim alike. To investigate this seriously, if we want to achieve inner peace, each and
every one of us needs to investigate this.

01:16:49 --> 01:16:50
			Now,

01:16:52 --> 01:16:53
			in closing,

01:16:55 --> 01:17:00
			and closing this journey, which has taken us here,

01:17:01 --> 01:17:22
			I would like to say that the essence of the message of Islam in a nutshell, if somebody asked me to
put the essence of the message of Islam, in a nutshell, I will say that it is based on the belief in
one God.

01:17:24 --> 01:17:27
			I believe in one God,

01:17:28 --> 01:17:30
			that there are not many gods,

01:17:31 --> 01:17:43
			but only one God, who created everything. Who knows everything, without beginning without end, one
God, indivisible,

01:17:44 --> 01:17:49
			having no father or son, brother or sister, uncle or aunt,

01:17:50 --> 01:17:51
			one God.

01:17:53 --> 01:18:03
			And that one God created one human race. Yes, people tell us you know, they are

01:18:04 --> 01:18:30
			the caucasoid race, meaning European type people, the Mongoloid race, meaning Chinese type people,
the neag roid, race, meaning African type people, and in between different races. This is a story.
This is not true. These are not different races, there is only one human race.

01:18:33 --> 01:18:43
			These divisions are artificial people, made them for political purposes. The reality is we are one
race.

01:18:45 --> 01:18:47
			The African who has

01:18:51 --> 01:19:02
			a positive blood is closer to the Caucasian who has a positive blood. Then other Caucasians who have

01:19:04 --> 01:19:05
			positive blood,

01:19:06 --> 01:19:11
			their blood can save them while others cannot. Who is closer?

01:19:13 --> 01:19:14
			So

01:19:15 --> 01:19:16
			one God

01:19:17 --> 01:19:37
			created one race of human beings. And this race of human beings has one spiritual need. We're all
created with the same need we talked about in the very beginning, this desire for inner peace, we
all have it, we are all seeking it.

01:19:40 --> 01:19:57
			So God, the One God who created the one human race, he provided for us one way to fulfill that need.
He didn't provide a variety of different ways

01:19:58 --> 01:19:59
			which contradict each other

01:20:00 --> 01:20:18
			So we have confusion. No, this confusion of religions is the making of human beings. God when he
created the first man and woman gave them a way of life, he taught them

01:20:19 --> 01:20:25
			a way of life. That way of life was submission to His will,

01:20:26 --> 01:20:35
			doing his bidding, obeying His commandments, forbidding what he forbade.

01:20:37 --> 01:20:43
			It was one way of life. And that way of life was repeated.

01:20:45 --> 01:21:02
			With the coming of other prophets, as people strayed away from the correct way, God sent other
prophets bringing them back onto that path, the path of submission to the will of God.

01:21:03 --> 01:21:30
			And this was what was expressed by all of the prophets, whether they came in India or they came in
Africa, or in the Philippines or wherever they came, they came with one message in the Quran, it
states while a hot bath nafi Coolio mutton Rasul Allah, and Yabu law which tenable thought, I have
sent God says, to every nation,

01:21:32 --> 01:21:58
			a messenger, calling people to the worship of one God, and to avoid the worship of false gods, the
gods of their creation, whether it be their desires, whether it be Gods they created with their own
hands, or whatever other human beings that they take as gods, whatever all of the various gods that
people have these false gods

01:22:01 --> 01:22:08
			belief in the true God requires that we leave those false gods and come to the one true God.

01:22:09 --> 01:22:11
			One message, one God,

01:22:12 --> 01:22:23
			one human race, one message, one way of life for all human beings, and that I propose to you

01:22:24 --> 01:22:25
			is Islam.

01:22:28 --> 01:22:31
			This concludes our search,

01:22:32 --> 01:22:36
			or the search that I invited you here to

01:22:38 --> 01:22:39
			go with me.

01:22:41 --> 01:22:44
			As is our normal practice,

01:22:45 --> 01:22:47
			we will open the floor to questions.

01:22:48 --> 01:22:52
			And you are welcome to ask any questions you like.

01:22:53 --> 01:22:56
			or to make comments you like,

01:22:57 --> 01:23:09
			as long as your questions or comments are brief. So as to give everybody an opportunity, who wishes
to ask any questions they would like to ask,

01:23:10 --> 01:23:12
			How much time do we have actually?

01:23:14 --> 01:23:22
			20 minutes. 20 minutes. Okay. So who would like to ask the first question? And

01:23:23 --> 01:23:24
			let me say that

01:23:26 --> 01:23:52
			we would like to give our guests, our non Muslim guests, the first opportunity they are giving
priority will favor them over the Muslims to let them ask the questions first. If no one wants to
ask anything or make a comment, then we'll turn it over to Muslims who always have many, many, many,
many questions to ask.

01:23:54 --> 01:24:00
			But we'll give our non Muslim guests the first opportunity.

01:24:03 --> 01:24:13
			The mic is with me from either the male or female side. Any non Muslim guests would like to ask a
question just put your hand up and go ahead.

01:24:27 --> 01:24:30
			Is there search for inner peace in heaven?

01:24:31 --> 01:24:59
			Is there any search for inner peace in heaven? That is the perpetual state of inner peace, the one
which we thought we could achieve in this world, but which I hope I have convinced you is not
attainable in this world. It's one that we seek ultimately, by doing the right thing here. And this
transitional world we would achieve

01:25:00 --> 01:25:06
			That true state of perpetual inner peace in the next.

01:25:11 --> 01:25:23
			Yes, I just like to say that I enjoyed your speech very much, and thank you, and that I didn't find
it to be a Muslim topic at all. I think it's universal. And I agree with everything that you've
said. I think we're all right there.

01:25:24 --> 01:25:25
			Thank you.

01:25:26 --> 01:25:28
			We appreciate good comments also.

01:25:36 --> 01:25:39
			Good evening, and thank you again, I really enjoyed

01:25:41 --> 01:25:46
			this, the topic of the searching for inner peace. And my question is,

01:25:47 --> 01:25:48
			as Muslim,

01:25:49 --> 01:25:52
			do you always need to pray in Arabic

01:25:53 --> 01:25:57
			or there are, other or other languages are acceptable?

01:25:59 --> 01:26:04
			I don't speak Arabic. Okay. Now the issue of prayer in Arabic.

01:26:06 --> 01:26:08
			We have in

01:26:09 --> 01:26:09
			Islam,

01:26:11 --> 01:26:13
			two types of prayers.

01:26:14 --> 01:26:17
			There are formal prayers, which are called Salah.

01:26:18 --> 01:26:22
			And there are informal prayers which are called da.

01:26:23 --> 01:27:19
			The distinction is made between the two formal prayers are the five times daily prayers which have
been specified with specific things to say specific actions to do etc. That is the formal prayer.
The informal prayer is one which one makes at any time. It doesn't matter where one is,
circumstances etc, you can make this prayer you turn to God and ask God anything you wish at any
time. And even within the formal prayer, there are portions in which you do your own personal
prayers. Now, the main structure of the formal prayer is in Arabic, and it is something each Muslim
is required to learn. Now, one may ask why Arabic? Why not your own language? Well,

01:27:20 --> 01:27:31
			what it does is that it unifies Muslims wherever they are. So if I went to visit China, for example,
I went to China to Peking.

01:27:33 --> 01:28:22
			And the call for prayer was made in Chinese, I would have no idea what's going on. And if I stumbled
into the mosque, I finally found a mosque because mosques in China don't look like mosques here. You
know, they have varying designs. So if I manage to Bumble my way into a mosque, and they're praying
there, and again, the one who's leading the prayer, he is speaking in Chinese. Again, I'll be at a
loss as to what to do, when to do etc. So the Arabic only links Muslims wherever they are, and Hajj,
the pilgrimage is the classic example, where Muslims come from all over the world, from Siberia, to
Guatemala, you know, from

01:28:23 --> 01:29:08
			Alaska, to Philippines, and they all pray together. At the same time, the Arabic links them, and
also because of the fact that the final message, the final scripture, the Quran, was revealed in
Arabic, it is also an encouragement for all Muslims wherever they are, to read the revelation of
God, as it was revealed, not just through translation, which is what most of us end up doing, but to
encourage people to hear the revelation to understand it directly from God, as opposed to through
intermediaries.

01:29:18 --> 01:29:18
			While a

01:29:20 --> 01:29:25
			very excellent presentation, and you talked about

01:29:26 --> 01:29:29
			the purpose of human beings

01:29:30 --> 01:29:34
			in this life and which is the submission to Allah.

01:29:36 --> 01:29:52
			But I just want to ask you like, what is the purpose of the, what is the purpose of creating this
world of the god you know, like, he is exalted and

01:29:53 --> 01:29:54
			he is,

01:29:56 --> 01:29:57
			you know, much

01:29:58 --> 01:29:59
			higher

01:30:00 --> 01:30:00
			Then to

01:30:02 --> 01:30:12
			have this world created and worship for him, you know, he doesn't need all this if. And okay.

01:30:14 --> 01:30:16
			My friends question here

01:30:17 --> 01:30:19
			as to the purpose of God.

01:30:20 --> 01:30:23
			Why would God create a world?

01:30:24 --> 01:30:35
			A race of people to worship Him? When we all agree that he is not in need of worship? Why would he
do that?

01:30:36 --> 01:30:43
			Well, the reality is that the worship of God is not for God.

01:30:45 --> 01:30:51
			As we agreed, God does need our worship, then obviously, that worship is not for him.

01:30:54 --> 01:30:57
			So what is the purpose of that worship? Who is it for?

01:31:02 --> 01:31:03
			Can somebody tell me?

01:31:04 --> 01:31:05
			Who is it for?

01:31:07 --> 01:31:09
			for ourselves,

01:31:10 --> 01:31:27
			our worshiping God is for ourselves, it is for our own benefit. God doesn't need our worship,
whether we all worship them, or we didn't worship Him. It doesn't change God's state in any way. It
doesn't harm him, it doesn't benefit him.

01:31:28 --> 01:31:37
			So the principle of worship is for us, to attain the state for which God created us.

01:31:39 --> 01:31:48
			For us to attain the state for which God created us, He created us for a state that is the state of
Paradise,

01:31:49 --> 01:31:52
			the state of perpetual inner peace.

01:31:53 --> 01:31:59
			But he gave us a choice as to whether we

01:32:00 --> 01:32:03
			make that take that path and go there by

01:32:05 --> 01:32:11
			doing what is good, or whether we reject it, and leave it

01:32:12 --> 01:32:14
			by doing what is evil.

01:32:15 --> 01:32:24
			So the principle of worship is to help us to achieve what is good, because everything of worship,

01:32:25 --> 01:32:32
			every aspect of worship, is geared towards a moral good,

01:32:34 --> 01:33:14
			whether it is fasting, whether it is pilgrimage, whether it is charity, etc, all of it is geared
towards developing in each and every one of us, the highest moral characters, characteristics that
we can attain. That is why Prophet Muhammad, may God's peace be upon him It said, I was only sent to
perfect for you, the highest of moral character traits. The essence of the message is a moral
message. So prayer for example, mentioned in the Quran, God says there

01:33:15 --> 01:33:17
			in the Salatin, hand in

01:33:19 --> 01:33:40
			prayer, prevents evil speech and evil deeds. This is the purpose to remove to help us to restrain
ourselves from evil speech and evil deeds. So the prayer the worship is for us as human beings

01:33:43 --> 01:33:47
			to attain the state for which God created us.

01:33:54 --> 01:34:12
			Okay, give another one a chance. Okay, because number of other people would like to and Otherwise
Otherwise, we don't want to make it an individual discussion, right? You asked the purpose. I gave
you an explanation. We'll get back to you on we'll get back to you. If nobody else wants to ask
anything. Save that save the thought. We'll come back.

01:34:14 --> 01:34:36
			Okay, Doctor, my question is, can you interleague, the meditation meditation? And the second one is
what to change? Now one question only. or two, okay, what to change mind or heart? What should we
change the mind or the heart? Well, if we ask ourselves, what is the mind?

01:34:37 --> 01:34:40
			And we ask ourselves, what is the heart?

01:34:41 --> 01:34:59
			Of course, when we use the term heart, we're not talking about the organ in the body, which is
pumping blood, because we can change those. We have the Java cart, which is an artificial one,
right? When a person says you have a lot of heart, you know, we don't mean you got a big heart.

01:35:00 --> 01:35:01
			inside your body.

01:35:02 --> 01:35:08
			So when we're talking about heart and mind, we're talking about one and the same thing.

01:35:10 --> 01:35:39
			The mind, the expression, is the expression of the soul, really, the mind is the soul being
expressed. We refer to it at times as the heart. And we refer to it at times as the mind. It is the
you, the individual, that spirit, which God created. So we don't we don't have to go into a
situation of which one should we change First, the heart or the mind? No.

01:35:41 --> 01:35:56
			We change the heart. And we change the mind. We change the mind, and we change the heart. They're
one and the same. We only refer to them in different ways, under different circumstances.

01:35:59 --> 01:35:59
			So I'll

01:36:00 --> 01:36:03
			give the females a chance, please, as salaam alaikum.

01:36:05 --> 01:36:07
			Doctor, I have one question.

01:36:10 --> 01:36:15
			In your own perception, if you are a Muslim, they have an inner peace.

01:36:18 --> 01:36:25
			Question. I guess you all heard that, as a Muslim, did I find inner peace? Surely.

01:36:26 --> 01:36:32
			I was born a Christian raised a Christian, went to university became a communist,

01:36:33 --> 01:36:35
			experimented with Buddhism and Hinduism.

01:36:36 --> 01:36:38
			And when I found Islam,

01:36:39 --> 01:36:40
			I found

01:36:41 --> 01:36:57
			peace, peace in the sense that the way before me was now clear. Prior to that, it was confusion. I
was trying to do a little of this, trying to do a little of that, not really knowing bumbling my way
along, not being sure to try it, this is wrong.

01:36:59 --> 01:37:37
			What I found Islam, Islam brought to me a clarity, which gave me a sense of peace in terms of my own
internal struggle and toil to find a way of life principles, which would guide me and guide those
around me. Because I became a communist, not because I had any special liking for Marx, Engels,
Lenin, Trotsky and the others. But because Marxism, communism, proposed

01:37:38 --> 01:38:00
			a state of inner peace, if we read into the writings of the Marxists, the communists, when they
speak about the state, the communist state, where people will work according to their ability, and
only take according to their need,

01:38:02 --> 01:38:14
			the state apparatus will fall away. No, governments know nothing. What is this? This is a state of
angelic beings. I accepted, it sounded very beautiful.

01:38:16 --> 01:38:18
			Reality is something else

01:38:19 --> 01:38:30
			we have to do is look at the history, you know, of communism. And it's been a lot of massacres, you
know, starting with Russia, to China to everywhere else.

01:38:32 --> 01:38:42
			So, it was a quest for a system which would produce a society in which justice would prevail.

01:38:44 --> 01:38:51
			And people could find a sense of peace in that justice, which brought me to communism.

01:38:53 --> 01:39:04
			And it was Islam, in which I actually found the principles fully enunciated, implemented at various
points in time.

01:39:05 --> 01:39:14
			And applicable to myself. Now, it is a very important point now. Because in communism,

01:39:15 --> 01:39:27
			when or as a communist with my communist friends, when we had issues of morality, moral issues,
where I felt really we shouldn't be doing this.

01:39:29 --> 01:39:31
			Others felt now we can

01:39:34 --> 01:39:37
			even if people agreed, they still wanted to do it.

01:39:38 --> 01:39:43
			And the common phrase that people would say is, after the revolution,

01:39:45 --> 01:39:50
			after the revolution will stop all these things, you know, but for now,

01:39:51 --> 01:39:55
			since the revolution has not been attained yet, you know, it's okay.

01:39:56 --> 01:39:59
			So the change the creation of that

01:40:00 --> 01:40:10
			New communist man could only take place after the revolution. Until that time came, people are going
to be hardcore, you know,

01:40:11 --> 01:40:18
			Machiavellian, the ends justify the means types, right? And

01:40:19 --> 01:40:43
			one of the things that amazed me about Islam was that it said, Really you It begins and ends with
you. If the whole world doesn't do it right, you are responsible to do it right? Not after you
establish the Islamic State, not after the whole world becomes Muslim, maybe they never will know.
You have to submit. You are responsible before God.

01:40:55 --> 01:40:57
			Salama Salam aleikum. Wa Alaykum

01:40:59 --> 01:41:07
			what I'd like to thank you first for a thought provoking speech. And I'd like to go back to an
earlier comment

01:41:10 --> 01:41:20
			made about the fact that what you said applies University and applies to everybody, and probably

01:41:22 --> 01:41:23
			can be

01:41:26 --> 01:41:36
			applied twice, yes, apply to us and said by many others, I'd like to shed more light on what is
unique to Islam in our search for inner peace. Thank you.

01:41:38 --> 01:41:44
			What is unique to Islam in the search? reality is that there is nothing unique.

01:41:46 --> 01:41:59
			The way had already been outlined by God to the very first human being on the face of this earth.
Adam.

01:42:01 --> 01:42:11
			He was taught that way. Everything that was necessary to achieve inner peace was taught to him. That
way of life that he lived

01:42:12 --> 01:42:20
			was Islam. He and his wife Eve lived with Islam. And it's only when people strayed away from that
way.

01:42:21 --> 01:42:24
			And their lives became

01:42:28 --> 01:42:31
			in turmoil, their lives became disrupted.

01:42:33 --> 01:42:40
			They were misguided, satanic forces, beguiled them, deceive them, fooled them

01:42:41 --> 01:43:29
			that other prophets were sent to bring them back to that way of life. That way in which inner peace
may be attained, so Prophet Mohammed, may God's peace and blessings be upon him, and on all of the
prophets of God. He brought the final message of Islam, not unique and different, but only the final
message in its completeness in a way, which would be protected by God till the last day of this
world, it will be propagated and carried to all areas of the world and be made available to the vast
majority of humankind.

01:43:33 --> 01:43:37
			The essence of the message is one in the same.

01:43:44 --> 01:44:00
			salaam aleikum wa alaikum Salaam. It's a fantastic evening and presentation which I believe sometime
back in London for the same kind of presentation they asked for a ticket of 200 pounds per head, and
I am getting it free of charge here as

01:44:02 --> 01:44:17
			good is the other way that I I owe anybody interested in this group to work with you in the future,
so that we can find our path to search for inner peace become easy and accessible, rather than
coming to a meeting and then going away and forgetting about

01:44:19 --> 01:44:19
			well,

01:44:21 --> 01:44:44
			my brothers or friends request here as to how you all any of you would like to continue this search
to find the necessary information to help us in implementing the principles which would help us to
achieve inner peace in this life. Work. Can we cooperate with you? Well,

01:44:46 --> 01:44:59
			I am a lecturer at the Qatar guests center. There are some pamphlets outside which explain where it
is, what it's doing, etc. You're welcome to come there. We have

01:45:00 --> 01:45:09
			lectures, courses, a variety of different activities there, you're welcome to participate in them.
And

01:45:10 --> 01:45:27
			if you have your own programs or activities that you're trying to do, and you would like me to
partake of them with you to participate with you, then as long as my time permits, I would only be
too glad to do so.

01:45:31 --> 01:45:32
			So I'm I can share,

01:45:33 --> 01:45:47
			Allah hi for this talk here. Just a brief question here. Can you please elaborate on how melot fear
mammals that are dealing contribute toward the inner peace or achieving inner peace?

01:45:51 --> 01:45:57
			Rather, this question here friends question is that

01:45:58 --> 01:45:59
			how

01:46:01 --> 01:46:13
			one's social or financial dealings would help to contribute to inner peace? Well, if we consider

01:46:14 --> 01:46:22
			that the basis of modern finance is interest.

01:46:25 --> 01:46:29
			And God has prescribed in the Quran,

01:46:31 --> 01:46:33
			that interest is an evil

01:46:35 --> 01:46:41
			and evil, which he prescribed also prohibited also in the Torah,

01:46:42 --> 01:46:54
			prohibited by Jesus, and by all of the previous prophets. It is reaffirmed revived in the Quran,

01:46:55 --> 01:47:16
			it is a principle where it is applied, it brings peace to society's interest. financial dealings
based on interest, only bring poverty, degradation and humiliation. If we look at the debt of the
third world today,

01:47:18 --> 01:47:25
			which it is unable to pay, not even the interest on the loans they're able to meet.

01:47:27 --> 01:47:29
			Where because of this depths,

01:47:30 --> 01:47:58
			the First World demands of them things unfairly, demands rights which are not theirs, then we can
say that we're the principle of non interest, financial dealings applied, it would bring great peace
to the nations now under the yoke of the capitalist system in place in the world today,

01:47:59 --> 01:48:05
			the IMF, the World Bank, and these other institutions, which continue to force

01:48:06 --> 01:48:23
			loans in societies in such a way as to make them slaves to make their wealth, the prize to those
financially stable nations.

01:48:25 --> 01:48:28
			If the interest laws

01:48:29 --> 01:48:31
			prescribed in the Torah,

01:48:33 --> 01:48:34
			the gospel

01:48:35 --> 01:48:42
			and the Quran were implemented, then, great peace would come to these nations.

01:48:43 --> 01:48:45
			And that's on a big scale.

01:48:47 --> 01:48:55
			We have just five minutes left if there is any more questions. Okay, before the question from the
male side. Let's give a question from the female side.

01:48:56 --> 01:49:13
			Again, I have a question, because in your topic before when you're speaking about this Passion of
Christ, I have one view of the Christianity that they believe that when Jesus Christ sacrifice for
the world to save the sense of the world,

01:49:15 --> 01:49:34
			do you think this sacrifice for us will grant an inner peace but for me, in my own view, until now,
some Christians still that have inner peace, about this sacrifice of Christ? Have they saved the
world from seeing?

01:49:37 --> 01:49:37
			Well,

01:49:39 --> 01:49:41
			you're making a statement

01:49:43 --> 01:49:44
			and asking a question.

01:49:48 --> 01:49:55
			In terms of belief, as a Muslim, of course, I don't believe that Jesus was sacrificed.

01:49:56 --> 01:50:00
			The Quran states that he was not crucified.

01:50:00 --> 01:50:00
			FIDE,

01:50:01 --> 01:50:06
			nor was he killed. But it appeared that way to people.

01:50:07 --> 01:50:21
			He wasn't on the cross, he didn't die on the cross. So from a Muslim perspective, which I believe is
the correct perspective,

01:50:23 --> 01:50:26
			the so called death of Christ

01:50:28 --> 01:50:40
			is only an excuse, which has been used by those who change the religion, which Jesus brought.

01:50:42 --> 01:51:00
			From what he taught to a new religion, which they call Christianity, which Jesus never called
Christianity. They call it Christianity, and introduced a series of doctrines and beliefs,

01:51:01 --> 01:51:52
			which were at variance different from what Jesus taught. And central to that was that Jesus died to
save the world, that salvation was no longer in the hands of the individual. I personally could not
turn to God and repent, and God forgive him or her. And that's the end of it. No, the burden of sin
was so great, according to this new set of beliefs, that no human beings repentance would be
accepted. It required a defined sacrifice. So this is a whole set. That is the philosophy. Jesus
never taught that. This is something made up after his time. And the story of his death became a
central part of it.

01:51:53 --> 01:51:57
			But the teachings of the prophets, from

01:51:58 --> 01:52:17
			Abraham, to Moses to Jesus was that each and every human being has in his or her hands, the ability
to attain salvation for themselves, without any intermediaries between themselves and God

01:52:20 --> 01:52:22
			is another question from the females.

01:52:25 --> 01:52:32
			So like, why they consider I just wanted to ask, I've met many Muslims from different parts of the
world.

01:52:33 --> 01:52:45
			And the Muslims I have come across who seem to have attained in a peace definitely seem to be among
the Sophie's and and I want to ask you, why is that was the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam? Was
he a Sufi in any way?

01:52:48 --> 01:53:00
			And can you elaborate on why as Muslims, we fast we pray, we do the five pillars, but we still don't
seem to attain inner peace.

01:53:01 --> 01:53:09
			Okay, the question of those who appear to you to have attained inner peace? Well,

01:53:11 --> 01:53:13
			you know, when the Beatles went to India,

01:53:15 --> 01:53:21
			and they came across Ravi Shankar, or, what's his name, my Rishi yoga.

01:53:23 --> 01:53:50
			They it appeared to them that he had attained inner peace. And there are many people. Today we have
Sai Baba, who claims that he is God incarnate. And those around him see him as attaining inner
peace, those who go to his ashram, and do the rites that he teaches them, they seem to appear to
have achieved inner peace. But the realities of inner peace are not necessarily external.

01:53:51 --> 01:53:58
			They're not necessarily external, it's not something that you can see on the outside. Now, we can
all put on a show.

01:54:00 --> 01:54:22
			We can all put on a show an external show, but what is really happening on the inside, God alone
knows. So if you find a group, which specializes in putting on the show, then don't be fooled by it
into thinking that they actually have attained what they have shown.

01:54:24 --> 01:54:32
			We don't judge the book by its cover. This is only my advice for you in that regard. The reality

01:54:33 --> 01:54:49
			is that the prophet SAW Selim had said, The deliver who mixes with people and bears their harm
patiently is better than the believer who doesn't mix with people or bear their harm.

01:54:51 --> 01:54:51
			Now

01:54:53 --> 01:54:59
			the Sufi way, encourages getting away from people because the people

01:55:00 --> 01:55:10
			affect your state, keep away from people, isolate yourself like a monk, go open a mountain someplace
and meditate. You know, these kinds of

01:55:12 --> 01:55:39
			proposals are really not in keeping with the Islamic way that wasn't the way of the Prophet. He
mixed with the people he bore their harm, and sorted his leading companions, etc. And they
struggled, they strived, they had peace times of inner peace, and they had times of turmoil and
struggle. That is the reality of the human being. So I would only say, don't be fooled by the cover
of the book.

01:55:40 --> 01:56:06
			The speaker, there's just one last question and we have to wind up the session we are running short
of time. Just one last question. Smaller. This is a question on the behalf of my non Muslim friends.
Will God Is that why prophet promises Sonam? Is the last perfect? Don't you think that at this stage
of the world also, God should have seen some other prophet. Thank you.

01:56:07 --> 01:56:13
			Okay, for those of you that couldn't hear the question, why is it that Muslims believe?

01:56:14 --> 01:56:22
			Or Yeah, why is it Muslim believe that Muhammad was the last prophet may God's peace be upon him,
and on all the prophets,

01:56:24 --> 01:56:29
			or why God should send him as the last prophet? Well,

01:56:30 --> 01:56:32
			God knows best.

01:56:34 --> 01:56:52
			If he chose Muhammad, may God's peace must be upon him to be the last of the Prophet sent in this
world, then he knows best that that's what was needed. If there was to be another prophet sent, then
he would have sent one.

01:56:54 --> 01:57:49
			However, what we find is historically, prophets came after the message of the earlier prophets were
lost. When their messages were lost and distorted, then new prophets were sent. However, because of
the fact that Prophet Mohammed May, God's peace must be upon him was sent not only to the Arabs, as
earlier prophets were sent to their limited areas due to transportation, communication factors, he
was sent to the world, his message was carried to the world. And his message was preserved, as no
other message prior had been preserved. They were all from God. But God had not chosen the earlier
profits to be the last profits. So it was not necessary to preserve their messages. But in the case

01:57:49 --> 01:58:38
			of the final message, God says in the Quran, or in the hula, half his own, indeed, we will guard it,
we are guardians of it, God has committed himself to God, the message has promised to guide that
message. So it would remain as the final message to the world unchanged. And that's what we have
experienced in 1400 years, the message has remained the same, the Quran remains unchanged. If we
look at in the case of Jesus, within 100 years, or even less than 100 years after he came, his
message was already changed.

01:58:40 --> 01:59:00
			So it's not surprising that God sent another messenger after him to clarify all the changes that
were made and to bring people back to the clear truth, which he sent to all of the prophets and to
preserve it as the final scripture to humankind.

01:59:02 --> 01:59:23
			barakallahu li comb thank you very much for coming. I appreciate your presence, your suggestions,
your sharing, and I pray for all of your success and hope you pray for mine in achieving whatever we
can have that inner peace salaam aleikum wa rahmatullah.
