No.
Bismillah,
Muhammad
Muhammad. Today,
I would like to discuss
a matter
that is of grave importance.
It is of severe importance
to the well-being
and the salvation of the believers,
preferably the youngs the young the young amongst
us,
who find themselves in great debate
in regards
to the prohibition
of music and Islam,
and not just the music itself, but the
culture and everything that follows.
Me, myself, I've experienced
over a decade
in the music business,
and I have encountered things from a personal,
you know, experience
that later
accepting Islam
enabled me to identify
with the evils
and all of the things
that contradicts
the religion of Islam
and those who ascribe themselves
to the belief in Allah
and the sunnah of his messenger,
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
And many of the youth, they find themselves
struggling
with their desire
and their inclination to music
and their lifestyle and their culture and everything
that conforms with it.
May Allah subhijal
protect us
from this.
I mean,
everything that I've derived
for this talk today,
and I asked Allah
to purify my intentions.
Because my intentions is only to enjoying that
which is good and forbid that which is
evil, which is the obligation
upon the believer
to enjoying that which is good and forbid
that which is evil.
And what I compile
are proofs and evidences
from the book of Allah
and the sunnah of Muhammad
and the companions and those who followed them
in totality and righteousness
and in faith.
So insha'Allah
insha'Allah,
I pray
Allah open our hearts
and allow our hearts
to embrace that which is true.
And may Allah
turn our hearts to obedience to him in
this matter
and aid us and assist us in abstaining
from that which he forbid
for the embeddedment of our souls
and for
our final abode,
which insha'allah
we pray
is
gender.
So with no further delay,
let's begin
this matter
of establishing the evils of most of music
and the evils of the culture and everything
that follows.
Follows.
Call Allah
in his glorious book.
He says and of mankind is he who
purchases
idol
taught
Lahu al Hadith
to mislead from the path of Allah without
knowledge
and takes it by way of mockery
for such there will be a humiliating torment.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he establishes in his
Ayat
clearly for those who have sound intellect and
pure hearts.
He establishes the prohibition
of those who purchase idle talk
and we will clarify from the understanding
of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and his
companions
with this Lahu al Hadith,
what it entails
in regards to misleading from the path of
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
without knowledge
and he takes it by way of mockery
For such, there will be a humiliating torment
in the fire of.
So Allah, he connects this.
He mentions of the doom.
Those who turn away from the Quran
and do not benefit from hearing the words
of Allah
instead they turn to listening to flutes and
singing accompanied by musical instruments
as ibn Mas'ud
commented about the ayat
and of mankind
who is he who purchases
he said this is by Allah refers to
singing.
He said this by Allah
refers to singing.
So for those of us who don't know
who Abdullah ibn Masood
he was an authority when it came to
the Tafsir of the Quran
meaning after
the death of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
the people would turn to him
for the understanding
of the book of
Allah
Meaning, he understood this ayat,
and he referred it by Allah. He swore
by Allah that it refers to singing.
And a mankind is he who purchases
from
the path of Allah without knowledge.
He said,
but Allah
he may not spend money on it
but his purchasing
it means he likes
it and the more misguided he is the
more he likes it and the more he
prefers falsehood to the truth and harmful things
over beneficial things.
SubhanAllah.
He said by Allah, he may not spend
money on it.
So this closes the door
or the one who makes the excuse and
says,
I don't purchase music.
I don't buy it. I just listen to
it.
So by not actually spending money, he thinks
he exempts himself or excludes himself from the
sin.
And this door gets closed by the statement
of Katara.
He said by Allah he may not spend
money on it, but his purchasing it means
he likes it.
And the more
misguided he is the more he likes it.
And the more he prefers falsehood to the
truth and harmful things
over beneficial things.
And many of us, if we're truthful with
ourselves and we struggle with this matter,
we get contested as statement
as being absolutely true.
And it was said
that what is meant by the words,
yesterday, Lahu Al Hadith
purchases idle talks
is buying
sing singing servant girls. Ibn Jaria said that
it means all speech that hinders people from
seeing the signs of Allah and following his
path. Ibn Jirir,
he said that it means all speech that
hinders people from seeing the signs of Allah
and following his path.
To mislead men from the path of Allah
means
he does this to oppose Islam and its
followers.
He does this
to oppose Islam
and its followers.
So when we go back to the statement
of when
he said that it means all speech that
hinders people from seeing the signs of Allah
and following his path,
Many they make the excuse
of changing the speech,
but still utilizing the instruments.
So they say
that listen
everything that I'm speaking about
is Islam I'm speaking about Allah, I'm speaking
about the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam,
so I'm not hindering the people,
but yet they still
incorporate the instruments.
And, likewise, when you look at
the statement of
and how it's prevalent amongst the Shabaab or
the youth today
is that when they listen to the hip
hop music
and everything that is mentioned in it
only calls
to the things
that are in complete opposition
of the religion of Islam,
they're in complete opposition
of the commands of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
and the commands of the prophet
in regards of abstaining from that which Allah
has forbid.
These songs call to everything
that opposes a lot in his messenger.
And to mislead men from the path means
he does this to oppose Islam and his
followers.
He does this to oppose Islam
and his followers.
And he takes it by way of mockery.
He takes it by way of mockery.
Mujahid he said this means mocking the path
of Allah and making fun of it
mocking the path of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
and making fun of it.
So what we know
from the consensus of scholars that mockery is
one of the nullifiers of Islam,
meaning the one who makes mockery of Islam
whether intentionally
or jokingly,
he has left the fold of Islam.
Whether he does it intentionally
or jokingly,
this form of mockery
expels one from the fold of Islam.
So if we do not understand or comprehend
the severity
of this form of mockery,
may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala guide us and
rectify our affairs
because this matter is severe.
Subhanallah.
I remember there was a song
that I overheard one day
of this woman may Allah guide her and
rectify her affairs that goes by the name
of Nicki Minaj.
She's in the song saying, Masha'Allah,
Alhamdulillah.
Meanwhile, she's
extremely close to being naked,
gyrating and things of the likes
while mentioning statements for her mouth
that are clear statements of Ibada.
Though she's not Muslim,
her intentions
may not be intentionally
or jokingly. She may believe that she's doing
something to actually pay Hamrech
or show some level of respect to Islam,
but for the Muslims who engage in this,
meaning you're rapping behind her
These are act act these are statements of
and these statements have a place.
They have a respectful place
because we know that Ibadah is for Allah
and Allah alone.
So how does one think
that because some false sense of hamraj is
being paid paid, paid to Allah
or the religion of Islam
that this makes it permissible
or this makes it praiseworthy
or this makes it acceptable.
This form of mockery coming from those who
ascribe themselves to belief,
it would immediately remove you from the fold
of Islam.
Because Masha'Allah
Alhamdulillah
SubhanAllah
all of these statements
are statements of Ibadah. We know that Ibadah
is for Allah
alone and no one else.
For such there is a humiliating
torment
for such there is a humiliating
torment
just as they show no respect for the
signs of the path of Allah,
so they will be shown no respect on
the day of resurrection,
and they will be subjected to a painful
ongoing torment.
My dear brothers and sisters
pay attention to the threat of Allah
He says
for such will be a humiliate and torment.
So for the humiliating punishment is from the
justice of Allah,
from seeking to belittle this speech, and making
the music more superior than his speech.
Meaning, the individual
who mocks the path of Allah and make
funds of it and makes fun of it.
In all actuality, what he is doing
is seeking to belittle the speech of
Allah and making the music more superior than
the speech of Allah
And from the justice justice of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala,
this individual
will be subjected to a painful ongoing tone.
This matters,
as we continue
to derive
proof and evidence
first and foremost from the book of Allah.
We know that the speech of Allah is
the truth
and we know that the speech of Allah
can only be clarified
when we derive the meaning from those
of the Prophet
and the companions of the Prophet
those who sat and learned directly from the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
and also from the Taba'im,
those who were the students of the companions,
and this refers to the statement of the
prophet
when he said,
he said,
He said the best generation is my generation,
and those that follow them and those that
follow them.
So in this narration, the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam is clearly establishing
the most virtuous generations of Muslims
and those who were the most firmest and
clear
and understanding the religion of Islam.
So if we derive
understanding from the statement
of the companions
and those that follow them in totality and
righteousness and faith,
then we know that the statement of Allah
closes the door
to anything that would make music
even remotely permissible.
Ibn Abi Shaiba,
Rahim O Allah, he reported from Abdul Law,
that when asked about interpretation
of the verse
and of mankind is he who purchased his
idol talks,
he said it means singing by Allah the
one and the only,
singing by Allah
the 1 and only,
meaning it is a firm establishment
when a Muslim or believer
swears by Allah
the one and only
that this particular
ayat
refers to singing.
Subhanallah.
Allah
says in Surah Al Isra,
and fool them gradually
those whom you can among them with your
voice.
Edge lit upon them with your cavalry
and your infantry.
Share with them wealth and children and make
promises to them.
But shaitan,
he promises nothing but deceit.
Subhanallah.
Allah
says, and fool them gradually
those whom you can amongst them with your
voice
with your voice.
Edge live upon them with your cavalry
and your infantry.
Share with them wealth and children and make
promises to them, but, Shaitan, he promises nothing
but deceit.
What stuff is men is the thought that
men whom be Celtic
and fool them gradually those whom you can
amongst them with your voice, it is said
that this refers to singing.
It is said this refers to singing.
Mujahidi
said,
with idol entertainment
and singing means influences them with that.
Mean influence them with that.
Influence them with the voice,
with idle entertainment,
and singing.
Another form
of idle entertainment
is finding pleasure and having lengthy discussions about
things that oppose
or deters one from the the the memories
of Allah
and from the culture
that I once
was immersed in.
This was a way
that we entertain one another
talking about heinous acts that may have been
committed
illegal sexual things that may have took place
for other women
This is also a form of idol entertainment
because people find pleasure in it.
People find pleasure in congregating
or sitting in circles or group chats
talking about things that are in complete opposition
of the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And then this act does not conform with
the sunnah of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
Meaning the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and his
companions
they never sat in gatherings
having lengthy
long discussions about things that oppose Allah
his commands, his prohibitions, his rewards, his punishment.
And this is something that is also prevalent
amongst the youth.
Finding pleasure and talks
that in no way, shape, or form
have any benefit or any virtue.
May
Allah protect us from this.
What staff says what staff what staff says,
minister told them in the Celtic
and fool them gradually those whom you can
amongst them with your voice,
ibn Abbas
said every caller who calls people to disobey
Allah.
Every caller
who calls people to the disobedience
of Allah.
This was from the view of Qatar and
also from the opinion that was favored by
ibn Jiraiyah.
So Ibn Abbas
ibn Abbas
radiAllahu ta'ala and Huma was the cousin of
the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
And he was also from amongst the scholars
of the companions,
and he understood
he understood this to be.
Fool them gradually those whom you can from
amongst them with your voice. He understood this
to be that every caller who calls people
to disobey Allah.
So the question becomes clear, Yaikwon,
where do you find
and what's being propagated today
in the music business,
in the culture, the lifestyle,
a single solitary
song
that calls you to the obedience of Allah
We're talking about
what is most influential to the youth today
from amongst the Muslims
who have found a strong inclination
to the hip hop culture,
to the music that stems from it,
where and there yet in one
that you could find a single solitary song
that calls you to the obedience of Allah
So from this understanding that Ibn Abbas,
Qatar, and Ibn Jiriyah
that we understand clearly that
anybody that calls or every caller that calls
the people to disobey Allah,
then this is from the statement of fool
them gradually those whom you can from amongst
them with your voice.
Upon them with your cavalry and your infantry,
meaning send your troops.
Send your troops and cavalry and infantry amongst
them or against them, and the meaning is
send whoever whatever forces you have at your
disposal against them.
Send whatever forces you have.
This is what Allah
mentioned to Iblis.
Send whatever troops or cavalry or infantry you
have against them.
Meaning send whatever forces you have at your
disposal.
And from this we know
one of the most prevalent tricks of the
shaitan
is the is the whispers,
which is also from the voice.
He whispers into the hearts
confusion,
doubt, and hypocrisy.
This is one of the tricks that is
that
he whispers in the hearts confusion,
doubt,
and hypocrisy,
and music is the vehicle that is used.
Also, which is also prevalent
and one of the greatest weapons or tools
of the shaped on
is that he makes that which is evil
look good and that which is good seem
evil.
That which is evil seem good
and that which is good seem evil.
So when you look at this and
many make the excuse,
that, you know, this this is Islamic music.
This is Islamic music.
It's stuck for Allah Adeen. You're still using
the term music and say it's Islamic.
So this is from the shaitan
that he makes the individual believe
something that is evil is good.
It's good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He you know,
he's rapping about Allah. He's rapping about the
sun. He's rapping about the companions.
You know?
That
the shaytan has confused you, He has made
you believe that something that is evil is
good.
Before
I continue, I just wanna mention
that for those of you who know me
know that I spent
many, many years
immersed in this lifestyle even before the music
business.
Being born and raised in the streets of
Harlem and growing up in the streets surrounded
by drugs, violence,
prostitution,
murder, *, all of these things,
For years years growing up, believing that this
was normal.
Believing that this was normal.
This was my plight.
Then the Allah
he guided me to Islam.
And what I found in the religion of
Islam
was everything that I was looking for
when I had no knowledge.
Because our natural disposition, we want good,
and we are in a consistent pursuit of
that which is good.
But I was a victim of the trickster
that she thought making me believe that everything
that was evil or everything that was evil
was good.
Meaning, it was okay
to listen to music. It was okay to
fornicate. It was okay to sell drugs because
the intentions is good. I wanna help my
family. I wanna help people. So I do
something evil with the intention of doing something
good.
But one cannot derive any good from that
because the foundation and the basis of it
is evil.
So when I look at many of the
youth who were born and raised in Islam,
you were born and raised Muslim.
You came from the womb of a believer.
This is from the mercy of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala. You came from the womb of
a believer.
You came into this world
nurtured and cultivated upon Tawhid.
But many of you have allowed your curiosity
and your lowly desires
to take you away from the security that's
been provided from you, that's been provided for
you
since the very day you were born.
This understanding that you had
was made clear to you from the very
moment you can talk,
from the very moment you can copy comprehend,
from the very moment you were able to
implement.
And many of you have allowed your curiosity
and your lowly desires to chase something that
is contrary to what you were nurtured
and cultivated about.
So as the law,
to turn our hearts back to that which
is correct,
guide us and rectify our affairs and make
us from those
who affirm upon
obedience to Allah,
and make us firm in abstaining from that
which he forbid.
No.
And share with them wealth and children.
And they said this means what he commands
them to do of spending money in disobedience
to Allah.
This means what he commands them to do
of spending money and disobedience
to Allah
and share with them wealth and children.
How many
are blinded
by
the amassing of wealth,
the abundance of children,
and many societies
have told us that this is the barometer
set for success.
But this is a trick from the shaitan.
According to Ibn Abbas
and Mujahid,
that means that he commands them to do
of spending money and disobedience of Allah.
So you're purchasing
disobedience to
When
I think of this
particular
portion of this aya,
and being in the company of so many
people
who had amassed wealth,
so many people
who had 1,000,000 and 1,000,000 of dollars,
and seeing that underlying
unhappiness that they possess.
But at this point, they're so far long
gone. They they're so far gone
that they do not believe that there's no
way to come back.
Come back to what?
If they have no knowledge of the cure,
then this is from Allah.
Because heard Allah went good for them, he
will guide them.
But for those who
lived
long lives in this state and died in
that state,
or in most cases, even killed themselves, Jaquan.
Because everything that's propagated
in regards of this culture,
this fast money culture, this get money,
get rich,
buy diamonds, buy jewelry, buy expensive cars, so
on and so forth.
This propagation
of this culture and this lifestyle
only contributes to all
of the evils
that are consistent
in the communities where this is practiced.
It only contributes
to the evils that are consistent
in the communities where this is practiced.
Meaning that the barometer
is set so high
in certain places
that if you do not achieve
the boundaries that are set or the limitations
or would it require
to be successful in that society? People
resort to all types of evil things.
I just left federal prison
where many men are being warehoused
for chasing their desires.
You have some that are there unjustly, but
the majority
is from chasing their desires.
Chasing the desire to be recognized or acknowledged
in society that says if you do not
reach this barometer, you're not successful.
So the shaitan,
he calls them to a path
to obtain this wealth and success
from illegal means
and indulging in everything that Allah forbid.
So how
do we find rectification
for this particular matter is to abstain from
the foundation of it.
To abstain from the very foundation
and basis of it,
which stems from music,
the culture, the lifestyle, and everything attached.
It's kinda law.
It was reported in Sahih Muslim by Iyad
Iyad
ibn Himar that the prophet
said,
Allah, the mighty and the ezolders, said, I
have created my service as
as monotheists.
Then the Shayateen
come to them and lead them astray from
their religion,
and tell that what I have permitted for
them is forbidden to them.
Allah says,
I have created my servants as monotheists,
meaning those who are upon tawhid,
those who are upon the understanding
that Allah and Allah alone had the right
to be worshiped
and that no partners are associated with.
Then the Shayatin, they come to him,
and they lead him astray from their religion
and tell that what I have permitted
for them is forbidden for them.
Look at the tricks of the shaytaw.
Allah
and his infinite wisdom, his kindness,
his generosity,
his security
has given us so much
has given us so much.
But for those who lack gratitude for the
favors of Allah
they're the ones who fall into this trap
because Allah has created us as a mercy.
Meaning, our fitra, our natural disposition, our natural
inclination
is to be monotheists.
Allah created us
this way.
He created our hearts to turn to him,
but then the shared thing comes,
and he leads us astray from this understanding
by sharing with us wealth and children,
by sending his cavalry,
by whispering to the heart and all of
these tricks, he leads us astray from the
religion.
And then he tells us that which Allah
has permitted for us
has forbidden for us, that is forbidden for
us.
Meaning, all those things that Allah prescribed the
good,
and the reward and the benefit and the
virtue that comes from those things.
The shaytan and the shaytan, the shayateen, they're
like, no. That's not
this is what's up.
No. All that, man, that's too hard. That's
that's that's that's way too much, man.
And you hear this.
You hear this from amongst the Muslims.
Now may Allah make us better. You hear
this from amongst the Muslims.
Inviting your Muslim brother
to disobey Allah.
Like, man, come on, man. You don't need
the beard. You don't need that. You don't
need all that.
This is this is what's up.
More hot. You could still be Muslim. You
could just do all you could do this,
though.
This is from the shared team, not only
from the gen, from the men as well.
This is what is meant by the cavalry.
And last but not least,
very important matter
in regards
to the statement of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
in this matter.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said, and those who
do not bear witness to falsehood,
and if they pass by some evil play
or evil talk, they pass by it with
dignity.
They pass by it with dignity,
And those who do not bear witness to
falsehood,
we're talking about those who are righteous and
upright.
They do not bear witness to falsehood. They
bear witness to the truth.
They do not bear witness to falsehood, and
if they pass by some evil play
or evil talk,
then they pass by it with dignity.
Meaning they pass by it with their head
up
dignified
dignified and honored to be servants of Allah
They walk past these things.
And
This is the individual
who endures the most scrutiny
in this day and time.
This is the individual
who endures the most scrutiny,
not only from those who disbelieve or opposition
to Islam, but also from his brothers and
sisters in Islam,
even from your own brothers and sisters in
Islam.
Those who are misguided and iman is weakened,
they try to call those who strive upon
righteousness,
strive in obedience to Allah
striving, abstaining from that which Allah forbid
and hastening to that which Allah has committed.
When they see these evils
and those who are misguided and those who
are led astray, they walk past them with
dignity.
Not even having a drop of inclination
to that which they are participating in,
and they get the most scrutiny.
They're called excessive. They're called extreme. They're called
all sorts of things.
Yeah. I hear you too harsh. You too
firm. You too many of these things.
But all this individual was doing is safeguarding
himself,
protecting the honor
that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has given him,
standing firm with dignity
upon the truth
and righteousness
and all that it entails,
and they're the ones who face
with the most scrutiny.
These are further attributes to the servants of
the most gracious.
They do not bear witness to falsehood,
including lies, immorality,
disbelief,
foul speech, and false words.
Listen to the attributes of this individual
that when he sees a evil talk or
evil play, he passed by with dignity.
They do not bear witness to falsehood,
including lies,
immorality,
disbelief,
foul speech, and false words.
He said this refers to gatherings of sexual
immorality.
He said this refers to gatherings of sexual
immorality,
and if they pass by some evil play
or evil talk, they pass by with dignity.
Meaning they do not attend
where falsehood occurs. This is not where you
find these people. They're not frequent in these
type of environments,
meaning they're not in the clubs.
They're not in social gather the gatherings where
idle talk is being you know, was prevalent.
They're not in the environments with sexual you
know, illegal sexuality
and lewd acts are taking place.
They're not around the people who have foul
speech
and despicable tongues.
They're not around these people.
They find themselves
adhering to the advice that was given to
the man who killed 99 people.
When it became clear to him that there
was Tawba for him,
look at the advice he was given. Go
and be with the people who worship Allah.
This is where this individual finds solace
amongst the people who feel Allah, the people
that believe Allah,
they believe in his messenger.
They believe in the last day. They believe
in everything that Allah
prescribed
in accordance to obedience to him
and the reward that follows.
So this individual, he wants the reward of
Allah. He wants the favor. He want the
bounties of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. So when
he sees the evil play or evil talk,
he walks past it with dignity.
He does not attend falsehood, or he does
not attend where falsehood occurs.
And if it so happens that they pass
by it,
they do not let it contaminate them in
the slightest. They do not let it contaminate
them,
Meaning, they're willing to displease the people
at the expense of Allah's happiness
or Allah's joy or Allah's acceptance.
Not the other way around,
You have people today
who will
for the sake of the people's pleasure,
they will earn a lot's anger.
They seek to please the people at the
expense of a lot's anger,
But the one that sees evil and see
evil play and evil talk and pass by
it with dignity, he's the other way around.
He seeks the law's pleasure at the expense
of the people's anger,
and he does not let it contaminate him
in the slightest.
He said music does the
music,
it does
the He is saying that music makes prominent.
He makes
the zina prominent,
meaning this is the Hadith from the prophet
and he said that near the day of
judgment, the zina in music would be popular.
The prophet
he warned
that there will become a time when zina
and music would be popular.
I don't know what you
may perceive of this damn time that we
live in,
but we know the prophet
does not speak from his own whims or
his own desires. And what he mentioned and
he warned his companions
about a day,
it is the very day that we're living
right now.
It is the very day that we are
living right now.
Imitate me said music is the intoxicant of
the soul,
meaning the soul is free from intoxicants
until
it is injected with music.
Music is the intoxicant of the soul.
It's a problem now.
Beloit is so many
proofs and evidences
against those
who take the advice
of misguided scholars,
misguided students,
or even,
you know,
companions who serve no benefit.
They would never be able to bring proof
and evidences to support their claim
that Allah
or his companions or the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam or his companions,
although they followed him in totality and faith,
were in disagreements about the prohibition of music.
Well, Laheed, growing up,
I've always perceived
music as being the soundtrack
to your emotions.
Music being the soundtrack
to your emotions.
Meaning, when someone is angry
and he wants to follow through with that
emotion.
His preference of music at that time is
something that conforms with the emotion.
Meaning he chooses the soundtrack to his emotion.
So until he chooses music
that intensifies
the emotion.
Same for the fornicator.
The fornicator when making preparations to fornicate,
he selects or chooses music
that has sent you to that environment,
that has sent you to the the act
that is about to,
you know, proceed.
Meaning, he plays love songs.
He plays songs
that arouse
and intensify
the emotion
or the yearning or the lust or the
desire,
which entails
only motivates
the individual to commit the sin.
And in most cases, and no one knows
best, it's by your own doing. It's by
the individual's own doing. He makes these choices
so that they can form and collaborate with
the emotion.
So he chooses a suitable sound or suitable,
a a a song,
record,
CD, whatever the likes
so that it becomes compatible
to what is about to occur.
Even when you look
at rock and roll,
These individuals, they
even got to the point where they were
just straight up devil worshipers.
Their music drove them to the point where
they attributed
everything to the shaitan.
And their music and their lifestyle and their
culture and their dress and everything
was satanic.
So this is not an attack just on
hip hop,
r and
b.
This is clarification
of what stems from it.
So out of Allah's mercy
and Allah's desire to want good for his
service, and the prophet sallallahu alaihi was telling
desire to want good
for the people,
for the believers,
and the people in general.
He conveyed these
things so you would be warned
of the consequences that come with
indulging in things
that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala forbid.
Anas
ibn Malik Rahimullah he reported
Radiallahu, and he reported that the prophet sallallahu
alaihi
wasalam said, when my nation adopts 5 practices,
their destruction is inevitable.
I want y'all to pay attention to this.
An incident Malik,
and
he reported that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu
alaihi wa aalehi wasallam
said when my nation adopts
5 practices,
5 practices,
their destruction is inevitable.
What are these practices?
He said when they curse each other openly,
they wear silk,
they take up musical instruments,
they drink wine,
and men are satisfied with men, and women
are satisfied with women.
For the one who feels Allah when he
hears this, it should make the heart
to somersaults.
Knowing that it becomes abundantly clear that the
time we're living in
that the people have adopted these five practices.
The prophet
he mentioned this
over 1400 years ago
And no
sane person
can walk out their door
and assess their surroundings
and not comply with the fact
that these five practices
are not only being practiced, but they're being
practiced abundantly.
He said when my nation adopts 5 practices,
their destruction is inevitable.
Meaning, they're on a path for gradual destruction.
When they curse each other out openly,
they wear silk, meaning men wear silk,
they take up musical instruments,
They drink wine, and men are satisfied with
men, and women are satisfied with women.
Subhan Allahu Harim.
I remember back in the nineties, I used
to go to this club called The Tunnel
in New York City.
It was one of the most revered clubs
every Sunday. You had to be there.
Like, you were not relevant
if you were not in the tunnel
every Sunday.
And the thing that was most significant about
the club was not just the abundance of
gathering and congregating
for the sake of entertaining our desires.
The thing that stood out the most was
the unisex bathrooms.
The bathrooms were unisex,
and anyone that attended this club in the
nineties can contest that what I'm about to
say is so
true.
Extremely horrific acts
that I know now.
Back then, it was normal.
Subhan Allah. How many left?
But back then, it was normal
to see the things that took place in
the unisex path.
Meaning you could literally be in a stall
next to a woman.
Literally, you can see a man and a
woman in the stall engaging in *.
Literally, you can see women who are extremely
intoxicated
and incapacitated
being taken advantage by several men.
Men being set up and robbed.
This particular area of the club was the
highlight for evil.
You had those who laid in a cut
waiting for a person to get to that
intoxicated
point where he needed to relieve himself,
and they will follow him into the bathroom,
and they were robbed.
But they waited for the woman who threw
up
or got to the point
where she may have drank too much
or even some of these individuals would drug
them
and wait for the reaction so they can
follow them and take advantage of them.
Even leaving the club,
you will see women staggering with strangers
men don't even know.
They lost contact with their friends.
They came
5, 6 girls together. Now she is somewhere
getting dragged into a car
by a complete stranger
to either be raped
or may not never be seen again.
And I say this to say the thing
that united these people was the music,
whether we wanna accept it or not.
People don't gather into these spaces
for a acapella moment.
Thousands of people under one roof just to
be
talking,
looking around, whatever the case may be.
The thing that motivated us and intrigued us
was whoever was DJing that night,
whoever was spinning the records.
Because if he's a good DJ, that mean
that his selection of music
was extremely relevant
to the release and escape that we were
seeking by coming to these places
and congregating amongst one another.
But it also opened the doors for all
other
evil opportunities
and evil opportunists.
So I say to the youth,
we're all
consideration
and care.
For those of you
who are young,
Muslims,
who ascribe yourself to belief.
As Muslims, Allah
has given us more than enough.
More than enough to find happiness in this
life
with the hopes of dying upon obedience,
dying upon the understanding of tawheed,
dying upon
the methodology
of the pious predecessors of the prophet sallallahu
alaihi was salam and dying upon that
so that by Allah's mercy, we can enter
his paradise.
This is our goal.
Our goal is not to chase the hellfire
along those who are misguided.
For anything. We are supposed to be the
best of the people for the people.
We're supposed to be the ones who are
calling
those who are ignorant
of these consequences
to that which is correct and that which
is better.
As I mentioned in the beginning, we have
the obligation to enjoy what's good and forbid
what's evil.
So I ask Allah
to continue to protect us and bestow his
mercy and favor upon us. I ask the
law
to soften our hearts
so that we're able to digest and process
that which is better for us and better
for the betterment of our souls.
I ask the law
to increase us in knowledge that has been
efficient
so that we can navigate
through all of the pitfalls and ills that
we face
in the society that we live in.
I ask
Allah to open our hearts to sound advice,
sincere advice,
and do not rebel and reject.
I ask Allah to make us from those
who when they see a evil, they walk
past it with dignity.
Continue to preserve
and protect
those who Allah has favored with knowledge.
So when we do decide
to return back, it was correct,
that the early man of Islam and the
scholars of the sunnah
are still there to aid and assist us
in our ignorance.
